Pupuseria La Chicana… Wow, their food is so fresh! I just ordered delivery, and if you haven’t tried them yet, you definitely should. I got the Caldo de Res and the Chicana de Carnitas and both were delicious! The portions are huge, the meat is super tender, and the veggies taste so fresh. With the weather getting colder, I know where I’m getting more soup! 😋🍲
I came to this place for the first time with my family and was surprised. The food was so good and tasty. The girls at the counter were so friendly and made good recommendations for pupusas. My favorite were chicharron and queso y rajas. Can't wait to go back!
This place has great food. Very authentic. Home cooked meal. No nasty pre made fast food here. It's worth the wait.
I can’t even put into words how good this food is. The Pupusas are the best I’ve ever had. Even better than my ex’s abuelita’s pupusas. Sorry Marta. 🤷🏻♀️ I think my soul ascended when I took my first bite of the complimentary chips and beans they give you when dining in. The rice was fluffy, flavorful and fresh. The guacamole was delicious and bursting with flavor, no tang whatsoever. Even the lettuce they served was beautifully delicious and sweet. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Also, the prices!? In this day and age where it costs an arm and a leg to go out for a meal, it was absolutely perfect. $35 total for myself and my partner to eat, both got full meals and a beautiful aqua fresca. Cucumber limon, excellent. Not too sweet or too salty. The perfect refresh. The cherry on top is that the staff was so kind and welcoming! I had an excellent dining experience here and cannot recommend more. An absolute 10/10 and I will be visiting again soon.
Wow this place was so good. Visited El Salvador as a teen on a mission trip when I was put on to the gospel of papusas. Ordered the 2 papusa combo... Waiting for food, they bring you a plate of chips with beans on top. OH MY GOODNESS! THOSE BEANS ARE SO GOOD. MY FOOD came out and it was on and cracking. So flavorful, succulent and fresh. Piping hot and generous portions for $16.19 so worth it. I'm rarely in WOODLAND but saved this location as a favorite for next time. Chef's kiss.
Pupuseria La Chicana is a little gem in the heart of Woodland. Tucked away in a strip mall under the shad of a few trees, the restaurant offers a cozy indoor and outdoor environment. I came midday and there were a lot of customers being served after the typical lunch hour. Vegetarian options are available for pupusas and other items. They use fresh avocados on tacos rather than a more liquid sauce. I had a taco and a spinach/cheese pupusa and needed a to go box. It was a lot. I’m not 100% sure about vegan options, but there were several vegetarian options as mentioned. They also have several options for fresh juices including mixing ingredients of your choice. The vibe outside was chill. They are prepared to keep customers cool with ample shading and tables for larger groups and families. They also have heaters above. They played a great Cumbia variety from Raymix to Alfredo Gutierrez thanks to Pandora. The service was excellent - very friendly and just nice. Lastly, the customers I saw here were from a diverse mix. I liked that people from all walks of life seemed to feel comfortable and welcomed here.
Got the pupusa combo which came with two pupusas, rice and beans. Beans were standard nothing to write home about, rice was too mushy. For pupusas, I chose chicken and cheese and mushroom and cheese, mushroom gets a 7/10 and chicken and cheese is a 9/10. Im not sure if they had cutting but I felt like thats what would've gave them higher scores
The food was surprisingly good. I have heard a lot of hype around this place so I wasn’t too sure of how good it would actually be. But it did live up to the hype! However the service was a little slow. They forgot my friends juice and didn’t give it to him until after we finished the food. There was also a lot of people and since the space is smaller it was a little crowded but we were able to get a table luckily. Overall pretty good, would come again!
I love the food here and great prices! I get food for my entire family and we all love it! The wait time though is a bit longer than what it says if you placed an order online. Although, I’m usually not in a rush so I don’t mind. One thing I have to say on the negative side is that there is sometimes sticky tables or stuff on the floors. Perhaps it would bother me more if I dined in, but I always do take out. I just sit inside and watch some Tv! I don’t think I’d ever stop coming here in the future!
Was in the area and this place stood out to me. It definitely has an authentic style to it and so is the food server was friendly they had to get an English speaking one and food was pretty good. Took over 30 minutes, but it was Friday night so that’s fine. The soup was interesting massive pieces of beef and cabbage that you can’t even fit in your mouth but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be just felt like I was fighting my food. Beef had an interesting flavor. These items were recommended as being the top favorites but to me they were okay if I come back, I would just do something more simple like tacos or burritos. I don’t leave under four star reviews often, but this place just didn’t hit for me
I ordered a Chicana birria burrito for $8 and it took 15 minutes to come. It was tasty and of a decent size. However, the tortilla was kinda thick and it wasn't folded tightly, making the burrito lack good structural integrity, and nearly falling apart whenever it was picked up. Another detriment was the enormous amount of flies present inside and outside the restaurant. It was overall a good experience, especially for the price.
The waitress who brought out our order was very rude and made a judgmental comment, saying, “You ordered 6 pupusas?” I calmly explained that I ordered two cheese and bean pupusas and the rest were for my friend. Regardless, the comment felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. The bathrooms are located behind the building and require asking for a key. The area felt secluded, so I’d recommend not going alone. Seating is limited, with narrow space inside and only a few outdoor tables. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. The pupusas were extremely salty, and the cheese pupusas were hard and crunchy instead of soft. Between the poor service and the quality of the food, I don’t plan on returning. As a customer trying to support a business, this experience was not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
I had come to eat pupusa couple years ago at this location once while visiting Woodland. I will say coming back again to eat pupusas was not at all worth my money or drive time because it wasnt good. It looked and tasted sloppy and texture was thin and not fluffy. C'mon the reviews I read on this pupuseria are lies in my opinion. I live in Sacramento and I will say LA FLOR pupuseria will blow the pants of LA Chicana. Sorry but its from eating experience!
We ordered door dash and when the food got here it was the wrong type of pupusa. I called and they said yes they made a mistake which is fine things happen but then when we finally got what we ordered because we went and got it the food was not good at all!! There's no flavor nothing from both my husband or my order tasted even halfway good. I did drink the bottle of coke but the rest we tossed. This was our second time trying this place and we didnt enjoy the first time but wanted to give another try. I wish we didnt.
