Seriously impressive food that was both hearty and gourmet at the same time. Loved it. Friendly atmosphere and staff, too. Will be visiting again very soon!

Searched for dog friendly pub and this was a top hit. Me and my wife had fish and chips shared platter for £29.95. It was astounding! Super fresh and crispy, haddock, fish cake, scampi, battered sausage, proper tartare and minted mushies. Excellent. Lovely dog friendly atmosphere. Lots of local and visiting pooches in there. As a Welshman, I was delighted with the Welsh signage on the counter even though it’s 100m from the border just inside Wales.

Having driven past this pub many times and always wanting to give it a try we finally found an excuse to go for a birthday meal and it didn't disappoint. We started with the sharing charcuterie board which had local cheeses 🧀 this was more than enough for 3 of us to share. We went on with two of us having the classic and cajun burger, the birthday boy had a pie and omg was it a find, the pie was massive packed full of filling and came with chunky chips and roasted vegetables... we finished off with two sticky toffee puddings and me having a coffee. The pub has ample seating and also has a large outdoor seating section which offers covered dinning. Its definitely somewhere we will return and I would definitely recommend it.

Sunday dinner was amazing, salt and pepper king prawns for stater were delicious.

We had such an awesome dinner there tonight, as the food and service was amazing! Our servers and Olivia went above and beyond to ensure that we had an awesome meal. The owner Steve was also very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, especially their wings and pork bao buns. The fish and chips were good, and the homemade steak and ale pie was nice. It was a bit on the heavier side and slightly dry, but the sauce made it much better. Overall, this is a great option for food in the Pulford area, as the service and atmosphere was very good. This was a pleasant surprise and highly recommend going there for a meal or even just a pint!

A very lovely pub in the hamlet of Rosset outside of Pulford an easy walk from the Grosvenor Hotel. Had an excellent Steak and Ale pie. Lovely beer garden. Highly recommended and will be returning.

Outstanding service, incredible food, great atmosphere! We went for dinner on a Saturday night at very short notice (due to being let down elsewhere), and were greeted by very friendly, welcoming staff. We had two people looking after us for the majority of the night, and both were so attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The waiter brought a side plate out for us and as he was placing it on the table, he noticed a mark in the middle of the plate and immediately took it back to replace it before we said anything! The food was absolutely delicious, good portion sizes and beautifully presented! 10/10 would recommend and will be returning!

I ordered sea bass and it was totally delicious We were advised there would be a short delay as all our food was cooked fresh which we appreciated. I was the only one to have a desert and when it arrived ( after a reasonable wait) our server apologised for the delay ( I hadn’t spotted it😀) and took it off the bill Good food AND proactive customer service that gets 5 stars from me

From stepping in the door to the food to walking to the car; we had a fab experience. The food was divine, the staff were lovely & the restaurant is beautifully decorated throughout. We love that dogs are welcome! There was only myself & partner with our little one that attended. The menu options are great, a good choice of variety to each menu. I had the potato & leek soup for a starter then for the main it was pan fried duck. Both these dishes were exquisite. The homemade soup was thick & the portion size was perfect. The duck was also cooked to perfection served with jus & stacked potatoes. My partner enjoyed the sticky chicken for his starter which he said was very nice just needs to have a little more sticky sauce to ve able to appreciate that more. The main was a waffle fried chicken burger with fried which he upgraded to teuffle salted fries. He says the fries are delicious. The burger was great & the waffle flavour came through well. Our little one had the cheesy pasta, which although was stated to be cheesy we didn't realise how much until it arrived. It was very nice though, not too rich of a cheese. We had a glass of merlot & a pint of beer There is a jar of treats on the bar from your furry friends too which is so nice & thoughtful. Highly recommend taking a visit here.

Anything less than 5 stars would be a travesty! Staying locally and went for a walk and just popped in, and found proper pub atmosphere with top quality restaurant food at a fair price. Really friendly helpful staff, immaculately clean toilets, good choice of beers & wines. We enjoyed the experience so much, we're already planing to drive 40 minutes to try their Sunday lunch!

Stopped here for some food as they had a space available for 6 very close to Christmas. Was much better than we expected! The food was lovely, big portions and it was all very well presented with good quality ingredients. Particularly impressed with the "fish fingers" kids meal which was actually small battered fish portions, not just some frozen fish fingers, our boy loved them. We had the pie of the day which was steak and ale, came with a good portion of triple cooked chips, nice flakey pastry and some seasonal veg. Our friends had the Christmas dinner which looked lovely too, plenty of turkey on their plates! Staff were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere in the pub was lovely. Nice fire on the go and some happy dogs with their owners. Overall, it was a butt pricey but it was worth the money we feel. We'll definitely visit again if we find ourselves in the area.

Wonderful food. Great Staff, very welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. Well-kept Beer. Above all, Very Dog-friendly

The atmosphere is really good and welcoming. And the food is wonderful too!! They are no ordinary pub food, everything is fresh and homemade hence the price is more restaurant price. If you think it's a bit too dear, you can always go at lunch time when they have set menu price, or 2-4-1 pizza day, which is Thursday I think. You can call them for different requirement, they are very helpful.

Looking for a good Sunday lunch we chose the Sharing Roast. What a great decision!!! We loved every bite, all the meats were tasty and beautifully cooked. All the veg dishes were full of flavour and impressed in their own right, and there was large selection. Great Yorkshire pudding too. Wouldn't hesitate order again.

Had Sunday lunch here today. I didn’t like our table but a most helpful staff member moved us with no fuss. Our drinks came quickly. Our lunch was a pork roast and it was delicious. Our waitress check that everything was ok. A lovely experience. Thank you.

We were here Sunday for the first time. Pub is alot smaller than we were expecting. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. There was a wait for food but I can honestly say it was well worth it! The freshness and Quality of everything on are plates was just wow. 100% will be back.

We visited and dined here for the first time last Sunday evening. We joined six other friends for a Christmas meal and we were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant and seating was very presentable with a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, each of the three courses were excellent in presentation, portions and taste, and the service was very good and friendly. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and meal, especially as we were ones of many who had list our power due to Storm Darragh. The tables and dining area was attractive and clean, and the toilets were clean and tidy too. We will certainly look forward to returning to the Dog and Pickle again very soon and we will highly recommend there to family and friends.

excellent food. service reasonable .prices understandable and within range of being good value for the equality of food. welcoming atmosphere but it's a road side property with no real facilities for children. this isn't their fault but be aware if you have an overactive child. really lovely place though

We have been going to the Dog and Pickle for years and the current management and friendly staff are a dream who always do what they can to help us out. John and Jack today were top company as usual. Always a pleasant environment inside with a crackling fire if chilly out. The food was excellent - just tried the ham hock starter and salmon main (with pak choi... so good) from their new chef. The meals came out very quickly and well presented. Always a place I would recommend, but ESPECIALLY now after those meals.

DELICIOUS FOOD! We arrived at the Dog & Pickle for a traditional and comforting lunch. I had read the reviews , so decided to go there . The name of the pub is what attracted me in the first instant , as did the photo of the exterior - a village pub . That’s what we wanted. When we arrived ,we were greeted by a friendly guy who had been serving behind the bar. He gave us a choice of table, as it was quiet at that point . We ordered the ‘Hand crafted Steak and Ale Pie’. OMG! What can I say ?! THE BEST EVER!! It was a sizeable pie , with a beautifully crafted , tasty, crispy flaky crust throughout - not just a topper . It looked like a traditional hand made ‘village’ pie . The filling was utterly delicious , with plenty of tender steak pieces in an authentic ale gravy . We couldn’t believe it ! It was accompanied by creamy mustard mashed potatoes , glazed carrots , and shredded cabbage with bacon ‘bits’ - plus more tasty gravy. Massive complements to the Chef. We so appreciated his expertise . What a great lunch to have on a cold January day . We’re so pleased that we’ve discovered the Dog & Pickle , and we’ll definitely be returning . Big “thank you !”

Because eating out has become very expensive lately, and the quality of food generally does not justify the prices being charged, we do not eat out every week like we used to. Tonight my wife and I went to the dog and pickle initially just for a few drinks with a view to having a takeaway later. Anyway, we looked at the menu in the pickle, and decided to have a meal there. I chose the ribeye steak, my wife had some kind of pasta. What a great decision, both meals were amazing. The steak was a good size, and cooked exactly as requested, chips were really nice, and my wife's pasta was soooo! Tasty. Also, the HPA bitter was wonderful

The Dog and Pickle is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, lively, and welcoming. The food is outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced and generously portioned, and the drinks were just as impressive. What really sets this place apart is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure you have a great experience. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual bite, drinks with friends, or a relaxed evening out, The Dog and Pickle delivers every time. Highly recommend—this spot is definitely worth a visit.

We eat here often as a couple, but last night we treated the whole family to a birthday meal — and it was perfect! All eight meals were absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. The staff were so attentive, especially the lovely young lady who looked after us. We brought our own cake, and they even added a sparkler candle, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our family were so impressed — they’ll definitely be regulars like us now! Thanks guys keep being the best in the area 💫💫💫💫💫

We visited for Sunday Lunch and the food was great. The service however was slow and they ended up bringing our starter with the mains due to messing up the order. Felt a bit pricey compared to similar pubs in the area.

Friendly service, but food was very slow to arrive. Excellent steak and ale pie; chicken burger over-cooked; excellent sticky toffee pudding; waffle was over-heated and 'crisp'. Not the usual standard we've come to expect at this lovely pub; look forward to a better experience next time.

I opted for the chicken supreme and to my dismay when it arrived there was next to nothing on the plate, the meal consisted of two small pieces of chicken breast, some puree and a small block of potato in a red wine sauce and while what was on the plate was lovely the chicken was beautifully cooked the portion I can only describe as desperately disappointing. On another note the service provided was first class, our waitress was excellent.

We visited in the daytime and there were 4 other people in the pub. Despite the good reviews my meal was poor. The fish was way too heavy on the batter and the colour of the fish put me off eating more than I did. It’s rare that I knock any meals, but it was the case for me

Went for a meal Saturday 15th November. We didnt book , but managed to get a table for 2. Lovely atmosphere snd service was excellent. I had the chicken supreme. It was lovely and tasty bit the portion size was extremely small. I unfortunately left still hungry.

Went to the dog and pickle with a friend on a Sunday with high hopes it was going to be amazing , after seeing the pub/ restaurant on social media. I ordered a burger , our friend, ordered a salad and my partner ordered a salad . When the salads came out our friends salad looked massive and my partners looked like a side salad with loads of items missing that was advertised on the menu . I had the chicken ceaser burger . So eating this half way I felt werid , so I didn’t think anything of it , leaving the slaw and chips . I mentioned to the staff that the salad was missing items and she went away and took it off the bill . She was really friendly Now couple hours afterwards I never left the toilet and all day on bank holiday Monday I was in bed with a poorly tummy . I feel like I had food poisoning as I went to work on Tuesday I still wasn’t right The pub is gorgeous inside , parking is tight as it gets busy , the staff are all friendly.

Booked here for family birthday meal .was very quiet but mid week. Waitress was friendly and helpful however when we ordered mains ordered lamb only had one so chose Belly Pork but that also unavailable then chosen sweet was not available so all in all disappointing. That being said the staff did try and resolve the sweet situation and improvised and did not charge for sweets we had . However it was a disappointing evening and not what we expected from choosing this venue to celebrate birthday .

We were a party of 7 that had pre booked for 7pm on a Friday Staff were very slow only one person behind the bar, when our waiter came he reeled off what they hadn't got which didn't leave much left to choose from, they didn't even have any burger baps!! We had a rib eye steak which I asked for medium and it came well done, and all that was with it was one mushroom and two cherry tomatoes no peas no onion rings or salad even, it was £5.99 for a small portion of 3 times fried chips which when they came looked anemic and were soggy, was going to have sticky toffee pudding for dessert but they didn't have any of that either!!! Very disappointed and will not be going there again!!

Came on a Sunday midday, wasn’t overly busy and had our food after 45mins of waiting….. It took myself to go to the bar to see where the food was and when asked they said was ours two Sunday dinners…..it wasn’t I ordered a fish and chips and a chicken flatbread. Food was nice, but no apologies for the wait. We only went to the bar to check on our food when we seen people who came after us, get their food first…..

Been this evening @ 6pm for a birthday meal party of five . Taken to pleasant dining area, but this is where the service started to fail, our drink order was taken, but waited ages for it to be brought to the table, Granddaughter wanted pizza only to be told they had run out of pizza dough?? So we quickly found alternative. Staters arrived after a long wait and were ok. Then the wait for mains !!! Now there was only another 4 tables covers in the restaurant at the time so not overcrowded. We waited ages for the mains , when they arrived very well presented but that's about it i had duck but it was a small portion to say the least with a spoon of potato , my wife left half her halibut as over cooked. Other meals just average. At this point I was becoming very disappointed but didn't want to complain as we were trying to celebrate as said a birthday. Thought we would try deserts, but after 20 minutes wait for order to be taken we gave up, I eventually went to bar and asked for bill. So in summery food only average. Service slow expensive for the quality received Would i recommend absolutely not on my experience and we spent over a £180 between us not a fortune but money i won't spend there again !! So just to respond to the owner. As I said I didn't want to complain at the table as we were celebrating a birthday and didn't want to make a fuss at that time spoilingthe night. However social meadia is an opportunity to voice opinions if you don't approve of criticism maybe take yourself of a review platform your obviously happy for praise but not criticism. sorry for my mistake it may not have been potato but that's what it tasted like my mistake ! And you may have been busy... but when we were there as said before there was only 4 table covers as i counted that was 14 people !!! 19 with us .... and a few having a drink.... maybe accept a little constructive criticism and improve your service.

We went as a family of 10 not long ago for a birthday. The table was pre-booked, we were contacted to see if we could change our time as there was another large table in at a similar time, which we did. We arrived for our booking - as we were sat down, we were told many items weren’t available, including fries. This was a big issue as most meals are served with fries and was the preference of the majority of our party. We weren’t advised of any alternative, so assumed they would be substituted with normal chips. We were then told that some cocktails on the menu were no longer being served, despite one already being served to us. Our gluten free family member was told that there was only one option for her, which was an issue. I double checked when I phoned to book if there were gluten free options and I was assured there was plenty. We ordered our meal after a lengthy wait for our orders to be taken. Bearing in mind there was one other, well established, similar sized table and one small party of four. The place was deserted otherwise. Drinks orders were taking over 20 minutes to be served, staff having to be prompted as if they’d forgotten about us. The staff were absolutely miserable, as if there was an issue and they didn’t want to be there, which affected our overall feeling and ambiance. We did order some starters and several of us ordered the pate starter, which came up at £8 per portion. When it arrived, it was the smallest piped splodge on a tiny square piece of toast you could imagine, with some underneath, to keep the piece of toast in place - it wasn’t even half a slice of bread. I was horrified. Especially after another lengthy wait of over half an hour, just for the starters. When I mentioned how small it was to the waitress, she just said that’s how it is. I wish I’d taken a picture, but I was so shocked I didn’t think. After another long wait of over 40 minutes for mains, we were served…. Fries! We had been told fries were not available, so people changed their orders for this reason and when we were actually served our food, they came with FRIES! My daughter, whose birthday it was, doesn’t like normal chips, so ordered something different and was already upset, to then see fries on everyone else’s plates. It was a nightmare. The place was freezing, with a draught coming from somewhere, so we sat with coats on. Extra lengthy waits for food and drinks, miserable staff that were so unwelcoming, we didn’t want to annoy them any further. There was no organisation, the place was practically empty, which didn’t explain the tardiness of the staff. We decided against having desserts as we really didn’t want to have to wait any longer. We got our bill, which was absolutely extortionate for the service and quality of the food served. We eat out a lot as a family and have never had service and food as poor as we did that night. There was no option for us to eat elsewhere, as a party of 10, I doubt we would have found anywhere else to accommodate us at such short notice. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not. I and the rest of our party would never go back and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

S
Sian Heaton

The food took over an hour to arrive (no warning or apology) and was absolutely terrible to the point we couldn’t eat it. One meal tasted like chemicals and the other tasted off. Left with a partial refund (£6 as we ate the chips….) and hungry tummies.

K
Kristian & Ksenia

Visited recently and spent just over £50. I was the only customer in the bar/restaurant at the time. I ordered a £25 ribeye cooked medium rare, but it arrived well done. The roast tomato was undercooked. I also asked for sauce Diane and was served a pepper sauce with mushrooms instead. The arancini itself was fine. However, it was served with a brown crab mayo that included pomegranate rather than the salmon roe , without this being mentioned beforehand. The squid ink coral tuile was quite oily. Overall, considering the prices and the quiet service period, the experience was disappointing.
