My mother and I love this place. Our go to for lunch. Everyone is always smiling and pleasant.
Our 1st time here and we loved it. I had the orange chicken and hubby had the bbq beef and veggies. We shared a fried rice. Food was served hot and prepared well. The gentleman who helped us was AMAZING! He was attentive and probably the most polite young man we've ran into lately. Highly recommend and we will be back. Hope Harris
Checked this place out for the first time, was not disappointed. Food was delicious. Great flavors! Got the Black pepper chicken, and a an egg roll on the side. They also have milk tea boba available as well, which was also delicious and on the sweet side, but still very good. Will definitely stop by again next time we are here!
An amazing experience, the food was Devine and the staff was really amazing. You really get a lot of food, like 1 meal is actually 2 meals lol, it's perfect for sharing portions amongst a group. The flavor is really good authentic Chinese food. Deff, give them a try. Nice atmosphere, and you can also enjoy the koi pond outside.
Wish I wasn’t from out of town. Can I just say wow? This was the best general tsu chicken I have ever had!!! My wife also enjoyed her chicken with vegetables. And on lunch special you get soup, spring roll and the entree for $11.50. Wow was it delicious. Our waitress was amazing as well. Friendly and met our every need. Restaurant was clean including the bathrooms which is always a plus. 5+ all across the board and before we leave town I plan on eating there again.
I was in town for work and I wanted Asian food. This place had good reviews so I went by. I ordered the Moo Shu Pork and some egg rolls. They have unlimited steamed or fried rice along with the meal. That food came out steaming hot and the portions are enough for two to three people. It was a little salty from the soy sauce, but it was tolerable. The egg rolls are great. They are crispy and full of veggies and meat. They deserve the awards they've won. I will visit her again if I'm in Abilene and feel like Asian or need to feed a lot of people at a reasonable rate and good taste.
I ordered the three crown in a bird's nest which not only has a fun name but was a new experience. It basically has shrimp, chicken, and scallops with sauteed vegetables in a fried noodle nest. It was artfully made and very tasty. My friends all had something new also and they enjoyed theirs very much. Our waiter was attentive and the experience was great. We would definitely go there again! The table was a little bit sticky as the chairs also, but other than that a fun experience.
So much good food!! Portion sizes are huge, and it was so delicious. I got the sesame chicken and it was the best I've ever had. I was curious as to what the "pancakes" were on the menu...turns out they're kinda like tortillas! The sauces were so good and flavorful. Best Chinese food I've had in a long time. And the koi pond outside the restaurant really adds to the charm of the place. I will definitely be going back.
I haven't been here in roughly 8 years. My son really likes spicy food so I told him how much I love the Kung Pao Chicken. He ordered that heat level hot and I ordered Beef and broccoli cause it's a favorite dish of mine. We got our food and it looks amazing but upon trying my beef and broccoli I absolutely hated it. It just did not have the flavor that I'm use to at other restaurants. It tasted rather bland and I didn't want to add salt because I'm pretty sure that was already high. My son didn't really care for his Kung Pao Chicken and the heat level was not hot at all. Well he liked my food and I liked his food so we swapped and were very happy afterwards lol. I'm glad that it worked out in the end . Service was exceptional!
Food was average. Has all the famous Chinese restaurant options. Very accommodating, we chose a table to sit but after ordering we had to leave and they were nice about changing out food to go. Restaurant is very nice and clean.
I ordered the duck, some beef lo mein, fried rice, and a separate beef lo mein to go. But nothing about the food really blew me away considering what a beautiful restaurant it is with a koi pond and Chinese architecture. The reason I bring up the food not blowing me away is that when you sit in the waiting area, you see the plethora of awards the restaurant has been given in the past. One notable one was “one of the 100 best Chinese restaurants in the USA for 2006” or something to that effect. Really impressive, but the food didn’t give me that impression. I felt like I could’ve got the food at any Chinese place and it would’ve been equally as enjoyable. Perhaps the managers need to look into revamping their menu a bit and focusing on improving the quality to set themselves apart from cheaper places. In conclusion, it’s not a bad place to eat, but the ambience of the place leads you to expect more impressive food that leaves you wanting to come back again.
I used to love this restaurant. Now there is a huge difference. Upon driving up the parking lot area was uninviting. The grass area needed serious trimming and the fish pond needs lots repair. This used to be very attractive when driving in. After being seated and the restaurant not being busy. The waitress came right away. After finishing soup and eggroll, we could see our lunch ready at the window, it took 20 minutes to get to us, the kitchen finally brought it to us and apologized. The waitress should of done this 20 minutes ago. The food was luke warm and the waitress offered to put it in the microwave. While the food was good, it wasn't as good before they shutdown. I was very disappointed as this used to be one of my favorite restaurants.
I have only eaten at this restaurant once. I had their lunch combo. I wasn't super impressed, but thought it was decent. I didn't like their egg rolls or spring rolls at all, but the crab rangoons were good. I either don't like egg drop soup or didn't like theirs, but I haven't had it before, so can't be sure. For my main dish I had cashew chicken. It was flavorful and filling, but nothing spectacular. My friend had sweet and sour shrimp and said it was "good, but not great." Kinda how I felt about most of the food I tasted. They had great service, a nice atmosphere and super clean/well-stocked restrooms, though 😀
We were really hoping that this place would have cleaned up and updated when they reopened, and that the food would be good like it was when they opened originally. Unfortunately that was not the case. It just feels old and not clean. The egg rolls appeared to be from the freezer. The fried rice and Kung Pow Chicken were both pretty good. The visit was just overall disappointing.
Once a very notable Chinese restaurant, Szechuan is now merely a glimpse of its former self. The quality and appeal of this once rather unique west Abilene eatery has fallen, and I don’t mean a tad. I had noticed Szechuan had taken a drop, even before covid, but this time out, things were a bit more evident. Ordered the Mongolian Beef with wonton soup and a spring roll. The soup was too cold to enjoy, as was the “mushy” spring roll. Appetizers were simply, not edible. The Mongolian beef was decent, but a giant step below what it once was. Not sure if the recipe is even the same, but….. Service, which had been a bit sketchy, even in the glory years, was actually quite good. Everything, though cold, was brought out in a timely manner; and my glass was kept topped off. Overall, I’m not exactly what has happened here: But after too many puzzling attempts, I just can’t recommend Szechuan any longer. The inconsistency is a bit too obvious now: And I just don’t feel the experience is quite the same as in days past. Sorry…
I ordered pick up for dinner. The fried rice tasted like old bread and we found out it had mold growing inside of it, we couldn't eat it and threw it away and decided to just make some white rice. I ordered the garlic chicken and it was flavorless and bland. The chicken tasted like it was boiled in chicken broth and the sauce that it was in tasted like it only had black pepper in it. Definitely disappointing.
Lunch 2/27/26..Steven our server was really good. however the Gourmet Fried Rice was horrible. No Shrimp and few pieces of mystery meat. Restaurant needs a deep clean and the front door hinges could use some lubricant.
Not trying to be mean, but its not worth eating anymore. We ordered 3 dishes. All were bland and some even tasted bad. It's sad to know how good this place used to be, compared to what it is now.
I been all over United States and have ate at Chinese restaurants from Alaska,Mi,Indiana,Atlanta,VA.and so on. I have to say It was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Not only we're the so called spring rolls we ordered tasted like egg rolls, everything came out tasting old. The waitress admitted they were frozen. Then main course was supposed to be chicken with a ginger wine sauce. Tasted more like gravy. This Was the worst experience I have had. I Should of left at the apitisers. I've cooked for over 25 years. So I know the difference in what I am being served.
