I hosted a private event at Moca and definitely will return for both small dinners and to host future events. The private room was perfect for the party. The food and service were impeccable. Linda could not have been more kind and accommodating. Overall, it was a perfect experience.
Delicious sushi! I can’t wait to go back. Definitely recommend the Oyster Bay Roll and the Kobe Beef Roll. Although not traditional, definitely interesting and tasty. I also had the One Night in Bangkok for my drink and it was yummy as well. I usually don’t go for fancy cocktails as I don’t enjoy too sweet of a drink, but the balance was perfect. Made for a very pleasant night out with friends.
Golden Mango roll with avocado instead of cucumbers. I drank the moca mule taste like seltzer water with ginger and a little bite of lime. The roll was great. Now my lady ordered the Thai mango shrimp which was delicious aswell. It came a sizzling wok which mean the food stays hot! So so good with the moca Manhattan, she said it’s strong (whisky lovers). Dine in here it’s beautiful and the vibe is super chill. ENJOY
Amazing service here from our waiter Johan! Ordered edamame, baby short ribs, fried edamame dumplings, thai mango chicken, sushi & sashimi, and shrimp tempura rolls - everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. Their baby short ribs were soooo tender, best I've ever had! I wish we had a place like this in Toronto!! Thank you MoCA and Johan!! :)
I love their food always fresh and hot. The place is always clean. Service is great.
I love their shrimp tempura and shumai! I have tried their shrimp tempura roll and love it. It tastes better than most I have tried from other places. The atmosphere and ambiance is beautiful too. Perfect for a date, friends outing, or for those that love to treat themselves! Definitely will return! (Picture below is of the bento box)
The Foodies I dined with adored the selection at MoCA. All the dishes were plated well, and the wine selection was good. Parking is difficult at best, so I recommend ubering, using the garage just before the shops, or parking several blocks away. Service is attentive and polite, and the servers will offer suggestions and advice on the menu and pairings.
Love them they never do me wrong. Each new dish I try is better than the last, service is fast and friendly.
My husband and I have been here on a couple occasions, loved it so I suggested to my niece to have her Birthday party here. They were amazing! The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The food...OMG! The food was absolutely delicious. The party room is spacious and comfortable and there's karaoke! She had the best time ever, Thank you.
Just ate here for the first time. Really appreciate how well they are taking the COVID pandemic seriously. I’ve seen staff clearly tell others to pay close attention to the max occupancy which is 24 here for indoor dining. So thank you for doing your part. The food here was great. From the sushi to the miso soup, everything I had was great quality. I’d totally recommend anyone to eat here.
Has a great experience with Danny! He was the best server-and very nice and attentive. Would definitely come back
MOCA serves delicious sushi in a relaxed atmosphere. The fresh rolls and great flavors are impressive. Linda provided outstanding service—she was friendly and made spot-on recommendations. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return!
This place has a great vibe. My partner and I decided to come for a late lunch with our newborn. It is nice a calm and our little one slept the whole time haha. We decided to order from the lunch special menu that goes till 3pm every day as well as the baby back short ribs as an appetizer, which was really good. Our server immediately asked if there were any allergies which was a huge plus for me as I have a shrimp allergy. He was also very attentive and on his job! Great service. I had the General Tso chicken. I would say it was not bad , not great.. but good enough to be worth the price. The miso soup was really good. My partner had golden dragon roll bento box. Which she really enjoyed. Definitely a restaurant that is on our list of “go to” places. Highly recommended if you’re into Asian fusion and a nice vibe.
I've been to plenty of Asian fusion restaurants but MoCA definitely stands out. I visited MoCA on a Saturday night for my boyfriends birthday. We didn't have reservations but were seated immediately. Firstly, the ambience is very upscale and intimate. I loved everything about the interior, especially their restroom! I definitely took plenty of pictures in their huge restroom mirror. As for the food I ordered three different rolls: Philadelphia, Chicken tempura & Shrimp tempura. All were great no complaints. Their chicken teriyaki entree is the best I've ever had. The chicken was VERY well seasoned & juicy, we couldn't get enough of it! I may or may not be salivating while writing this review. I feel like MoCA gives you the fine dining feel without breaking the bank. I had a great experience and I already can't wait to return.
Overall, this is a great little restaurant for a cute little date or birthday celebration (cause they sing happy birthday to you). The food was delicious and the price was amazingly affordable. I’ve been here three times in the last two months. I would definitely recommend this place. The presentation of the food is A+!! it’s like like Gordon Ramsey standard!!! Lol My only problem with this restaurant is that they need everyone to stick to the style of presenting the certain type of drink because I realized sometime your drink look fancy or it just poured in a plain whiskey glass. I observed this with my order of the “Pink Dragon” . But i recommend the MoCa Manhattan.
Recently had my second visit to celebrate my seventh anniversary with my boyfriend, the first visit was during Covid. I’ve never got to eat inside until now and I was absolutely blown away. The decor was so nice and luxurious. The service was great, everyone was super nice and paid attention, felt very special. The food was super fresh and delicious, this restaurant is becoming one of our favorites for dates ❤️🔥
This was a such a great find! The service was wonderful and the bartender helped me pick my entrée. I started with Miso soup-divine is an understatement. I tried a chicken teriyaki roll which was pretty decent. I didn’t know there were avocados on top, but everything went well together as far as flavor. My favorite part of the experience was the Mongolian Shrimp Skillet with brown rice, the pictures don’t do it justice! I am currently in heaven and plan to return on a regular basis.
Loved the oriental and sophisticated atmosphere! The food was plantyful. Started with the sushi pizza and lobster tacos. Then, I ordered the Mongolian shrimp <other options include beef and chicken> and the sea bass with sweet chili sauce on the side. Closed off with the chocolate mousse cake and tempura Oreos with vanilla icecream on the side. All were delicious, but wasn't feeling the chocolate mousse cake. Definitely treat yourself to the tempura Oreos, it will not disappoint! I will definitely come back to this venue!
Very nice, not loud place. Most other restaurants around here deafen you with music. The menu here is a hit or miss, last time I got a lobster and seafood cream sauce dish that tasted like.....water. Got their Mongolian shrimp skillet this time, it was delicious. Staff hardly ever bother you too.
A wonderful experience for the mind, the body and the soul. Let me explain. All of your senses will be stimulated from the rich decor of Asian art, fragrant aromas of the carefully crafted dishes to mind blowing tastes you have only read about in fairy tales. The relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating with sensual lighting will put a weary body in estacy. Finally, the combination of exquisite cusine and 5 star service will place your very soul in a state of absolute bliss
We LOVE going to MOCA. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and the drinks are out of this world!!! Linda was our server and she was courteous and patient. Highly recommend it!!
🎉🎊🎂happy birthday son. I love you. So can I tell you, hands down BEST SUSHI!!! From the major Dee at the entrance to our amazing waiter ( gorgeous by the way) we experienced the hight of Asian cuisine. Our server was so attentive, his recommendations superb and the food took us out of queens and dropped us in a far off country , we loved the flavors and the clean authentic taste of our appetizers and meal they were delicious . Don’t WALK RUN!! An experience like none other.worth every penny.
The last time we came here was over a year ago. We swore never to come back to horrible service and drinks. Fast forward, we agreed to stop by and walk out if needed, but boy what a great experience, it was like old times. Pleased to see Pason (phonetically) again. The place was clean, new furniture and the service and food was fantastic 👌..... looking forward to coming back.
Came here as a last minute wedding anniversary gift from my family and I've got to say, the service and food were top notch. I had the duck tortillas as a starter and a sashimi dish as my main. All of it was delicious. I ordered a Negroni as my drink and it was aromatic and enjoyable, very well prepared. I cannot wait to be out in the Queens area again to pass by and try even more food from their great menu.
Everything we ordered was delicious. From our drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert... the presentation and quality was amazing. The service was really great too. The staff is so nice and attentive, making sure to clean your tables and give you fresh plates between courses. I cannot believe we haven't been to this place sooner. The interiors and ambience is great for a romantic dinner or just to lounge with friends over drinks and desserts. A great experience and find. Will definitely visit again.
MoCA, short for modern concept of culinary arts, surely stands behinds its name with their great hospitality and friendly service with a beautiful environment located here in Forest Hills Queens. Open the doors to a full bar and sushi bar with table seating that feels both open and private. Order a couple cocktails with some appetizers to start off the night. Their menu has quite several options filled with Asian fusion dishes. There is definitely one that suits your taste. Come try and enjoy your time. —— Bed of Roses 16 Pink Dragon 19 Japanese Seaweed Salad 11 Edamame 7 Skewer Combo 19
Really enjoyed brunch here! The food was amazing! The atmosphere was nice, and Linda was awesome! She was attentive, kind, and just made us feel really welcome. We’ll be back! 😊
I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for approximately four years. This is the type of restaurant you will always want to return to. Excellent attention, excellent food and the place is beautiful and clean. I always like that the waiter Daniel attends us, for all this time I have been attended while he is available. Normally the menu also changes along with the desserts and I find it excellent to have new options when we go.
Whoa! Amazing place! Great ambiance, excellent food, beautiful experience. One of our friends said, “If this restaurant was closer, we’d come here every day!” I agree! The sushi was fresh, deeply flavorful, and richly pleasing. The pad Thai was perfect, too. Overall this was an incredible visit.
We came here last night for Restaurant Week, and it did not disappoint! The food and ambiance is so nice. We started off the night with some appetizers, definitely recommend getting the calamari and the baby short ribs! Then we had some chicken and steak with white rice and brown rice on the side. We ended the night with some dessert: green tea ice cream and fried Oreo ice cream. Highly recommend this place! I also recommend getting the Hennessy Mojito, it was a really delicious drink.
My first time at Moca, and they didn't disappoint me and my date in anything. I tried to find a store that sold flowers so I could give to my date. Im not sure if she was the owner but she was at the front desk when I came in. I asked her if they had a couple of flowers in the restaurant andn this lady went out of her way to go to a store and buy me some roses. She literally went for a drive. She cought as went went to wash my hands when my date arrived and she discreetly handed me the flowers. The food was great the atmosphere and the people are awesome. Definitely recommend this Asian bistro to anyone who likes sushi and enjoys a cocktail or two, and I definitely will be coming back. Thank you for the flowers.
MoCa is quite a surprise! Spacious quiet but grand with very professional and knowledgeable staff! Drinks are so pretty and Mocktails are just as pretty and delicious! Food on point and presentations are awesome. Love the idea of a Christmas wine tasting event coming up! Beautiful place for date night and celebrations but serene enough to be a regular local fav for good relaxed dining!
PLACE IS A 10/10 I loved it! the food is so tasty, each and every dish you really can't miss this spot! The staff are really friendly, and the atmosphere is so top of the line I really enjoyed the vibes the restaurant had to offer. The only thing I'd say that needs more work is the sushi portions, it was WAYY to big, I hope they change the sizing to be a bit smaller for a normal bite. A great place for a birthday dinner and or date. It wasn't loud at all and I'd definitely go there again!! In the picture we got: 1.Mongolian Chicken 2.Teriyaki Chicken 3.Spicy Tuna roll 4.Chicken Satay 5.Chicken pan fried dumpling
This place felt like we were dining in a museum. The atmosphere was beautiful, like a modern-ancient rendition of an Asian art house. We dined over the lobster tacos, the "Out of Control" roll, Sweetheart roll, Smoked salmon sushi (amazing!), the Kani and Tuna hand rolls, and shrimp dumplings. We will definitely be back!
Second time at MoCa and it's always a pleasure. Our server was very nice and suggested great dishes. Went with a party of 4 for a birthday and even got free shots. The food was amazing, we ordered multiple appetizers and 1 entree that was shared which was the crispy duck, definitely good, just wish it was more fulfilling. Definitely check out the bar appetizers even if you're not at the bar, they are worth it. I personally love the atmosphere and the semiprivate booths, wonderful for a small party of 4-5 people. It's definitely a bit expensive, some dishes and drinks are above the average price so keep that in mind, but for special occasions it might be the best Asian fusion option in forest hills.
Very wonderful experience! Ordering was very easy and there were so many great options to choose from. We had a pescatarian dining with us at the time and our server helped pick out good tasting fish options and even substituted other things in the bento boxes for them. Speaking of the bento boxes, the presentation of the 4 ordered were so well done, and it was pleasing to both the eyes and the stomach. So delicious! Even the miso soup was great. We ordered something for takeout as well and it came nicely packed and very quick. The place itself is very comfortable to be in with a little chill now and then from the door but lights and even the cupboards looks very stylish. Everything was so clean and put together, and even the way they handled the plates made me feel safer about eating raw fish since it seemed so tidy. The only issue I had was that the ginger ale seemed to be watered down which was a bit strange, but it might have just been the ice
Took my mother here for her first experience. She was positively raving about the shrimp dumplings. My wife and I have always enjoyed dining here. It's upscale. You should dress accordingly (optional, of course, but in my opinion, helps set the mood for you). Well worth the trip down Austin st. (Or one of their other locations)
An Asian Bistro by a company that has multiple mid range restaurants. The wine selection is decent but the food is outstanding. They serve a Kobe beef roll on their sushi menu and the chef prepared a special sushi for my tastes that was just perfect. Their Old Fashioned Date cocktail was an interesting twist to the classic. Their menu is vast and touches a few different Asian cuisine. You can't just go once to experience everything they offer. The service was attentive and helpful in food/wine selection. They had live music too which made the whole experience more romantic.
Really great Asian fusion/sushi spot in forest hills. The ambiance and decor are really nice- quite upscale, and great for lunch or dinner with a party of any size. The lunch specials are really well priced, and there’s a lot of variety with sushi and actual cooked Asian dishes. The chicken teriyaki lunch bento box was great, and came with little side dishes and a salad (with great dressing.) The salmon, tuna, and eel rolls were solid. I also highly recommend the American dream roll and the nigiri pieces. They have a very extensive menu, so not sure everything is amazing, but what we ordered was great. Dinner prices are quite high for the area, but again it is a nice environment. They have an extensive drink menu, and their drink special called the Komodo was delicious!
I went here for my friends birthday and it was awesome ! i definitely want to come here again 😊
Moca it's a beautiful restaurant, I come here a lot and enjoy the food . Unfortunately today I canme and got a server name Linda, which from the beginning she looked at us not so welcome. She never came to check on the table unless we called her. So sad to have such a bad server in such a nice restaurant.
Enjoyed celebrating my mother’s birthday here. It was nice that we were able to take our time ordering by first getting drinks and appetizers on the way, while looking at the menu for the next course or entrees. The staff was sweet and just a little sad though the waitress only came around to take our entree order and then we didn’t see her until after we received the food and were nearly finished. My party and I suddenly changed our mind and wanted some rolls to munch on, but to my dismay we never got a chance to put the order in or get them because we could not find our waitress. Little disappointing, but overall the food and ambience was great.
I had some doubts about this place as I came here for their sushi before and it seemed overpriced for the quality. This time around, I’m really glad we got the entrees. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes especially the udon noodles they were soft yet chewy. The eggplants were well cooked but I thought it could use more flavor. The miso soup was quite delicious as well.
I haven't been there in years. It's nicely renovated & the ambience is great. The food was so good & loved the presentation. The drinks were tasty especially the Lychee martinis. I would definitely go back. Took one star off because of the bathrooms. It wasn't terrible but could of been a bit more cleaner.
This is one of the nicest asian place I have visited in a while. The place might seem a bit pricey but their ambiance and service quality totally makes it up for that. We took dumplings for appetizer. It was basic but tasted good. Some of the places does not steam or season it properly but this wasn’t the case for this one. Next we took spicy California roll. It was the star of the show and I will highly recommend it. For main course we also took the fried chicken. This one was average and felt like the regular chicken fry. So I would recommend choosing something else from the menu.
Came around 4PM Friday and sat at the bar. Wasn’t busy yet. Very good service and friendly bartender. Nice ambiance inside. You’ll pay Manhattan prices. Tried the crunchy crunchy crunchy and a seared tuna cold soba noodles dish. Both were okay. Wasn’t anything spectacular but not bad. Would consider returning to try something else. Wouldn’t order the same things.
We went on a date night because of all the rave reviews. There was nothing wrong with it, the food was-on average-fine at best. The short ribs were very good and I would recommend that, and the rolls we got had snow crab and that tastes fresh and were also very good. But the sake and cocktails we got had a strong aftertaste and burn which indicated low quality spirits to me, and the rest of the food was good but not enough to justify the price. The atmosphere was nice but the music was too loud for my taste. I think we are going to keep exploring for our favorite local place.
atmosphere is the best part abt this place, the food was awful. appetizer was extremely cold and nothing tasted fresh. the shrimp in the malaysian fried rice wasn’t cleaned properly either - pick any other asian place in queens
OK so where do I start. On the Saturday evening I expect great things from moca. ‘Twas my first time eating here as I was informed moca had a one-of-a-kind taste. They weren’t wrong but the presentation for take out as what kept me from give this place five stars. I would’ve given it 4 and a half stars if I could. During a time a covid I don’t want to find 4 French fries in my appetizer when the place doesn’t even sell french fries. It got me thinking someone Accidentally dropped their food while preparing mine. When I reach my house to discover the french fries in my appetizer I quickly called the restaurant where an employee stated that only one appetizer comes with four french fries and she’s not even sure which one it is nor the serving count of the french fries.
Attentive staff with great decor and atmosphere but the food did not impress especially with the price tag. Limited vegetarian protein options unless you don't mind eating veggie sushi. For appetizers we ordered the Indian pancake with curry dipping sauce and the Crunchy Crunchy Crunchy. Pancake was meh and needed more curry sauce than the one given. Waiter was amenable and gave us another serving of the dipping sauce. The Crunchy Crunchy Crunchy is spicy tuna served on battered fried seaweed. It was delicious. For entree we got the veggie sushi combo and some rolls. They both failed to impress save the plate presentation. Come here for the decor and atmosphere, not for the food.
We placed an order and picked up from MoCA via Caviar but it was a disappointing experience. We did an assigned time on the app for 6:00pm pick-up since we were off the clock from work at 5:30pm and we wanted the sashimi to stay fresh. The app informed us our orders would be ready at 5:30pm so we called the restaurant with our concern and postponed the preparation of our order. However, the order was already ready for pick up when we arrived earlier at 5:45pm. The staff told us she was not sure when the order was made but when she started her shift the order was already there. We felt it was pointless to assign a time on the app and call to confirm the pick up timing. The prep time of the meal gave us concern, so even though the food looked good with reasonable portion and tasted decent, we won’t try it again.
The food has been great. The atmosphere is good too. Nice music that's not too loud. The waitstaff is pretty bad though. Nice interaction but takes forever to order or get a refill on drinks. Even longer when waiting for a check. I still come back for the food though. Edit: music wayy too loud. Are you a dining facility or a club? Food was good and fast. Service much better.
Had dinner here on a Friday night. No reservations and we were seated quickly. Our server was courteous and attentive. We ordered several dishes, the spring rolls were greasy. I know they are fried but the grease sat on the taste buds, the white truffle tuna was not to my liking. You can tell the grill was not at proper temperature for the light sear. The grilled sea bass was barely warm which left an undesired eagerness to eat it. I would maybe eat here again but not for dinner.
As a modern Asian fusion restaurant I do think they do well in terms of flavor and authenticity as none of the food tasted boring. I do have an issue with not being served water when you sit down and having to ask for it. A glass of water should be a basic necessity like a fork and a knife. For two people we spent about 135$. Considering we came the Wednesday before thanksgiving and they were doing as special. I did find the menu to be quite expensive. 19$ for all cocktails. They also did not have the Peking duck, the one dish I was looking forward too. 4pm on a Wednesday with no Peking duck which is suppose to be a highlight. Very disappointed. If you want real authentic Asian food I dont think this is the place for you as it's a fusion so there is that American twist. Thai sea bass and prawns was perfectly cooked, the sauce was interesting and I didn't love it or hate it. It was like a sweet and sour sauce. The Mongolian skillet chicken was flavorful but it was also nothing special. A nice go to item. Sushi tasted fresh and was full of flavor . Atmosphere and ambiance is nice and clean and trendy. I did find the staff to be helpful and polite. Overall forest-hills on this little strip has a lot of options, this is a spot you come to once in awhile for like special occasions if you want a different twist. In terms of options in the neighborhood there are way better priced restaurants for a simple date night for two people where you spend less then 100$ if that's your goal and get more bang for your buck. If they had the Peking duck available a more gourmet item I wouldn't mind the price point. 3/5 overall rating considering there are better options in the area at this price point but this is a nice spot if your not worried about price.
We looked forward to going to Moca since reopening! This was our anniversary go to, unfortunately this time our server told us we were unable to use our gift card since under new management than when the gift card was purchased. (It was a year old) Super disappointing. There should be a simple fix for this! $50 gift card not accepted.
I’ve been to moca several times and their food and service is always great. Their chicken fried rice is something worth a try. The only reason I wouldn’t give it a five star rating is because I don’t believe the quality is worth the price. Considering it is in forest hills, I do expect the prices to be higher however, it’s a bit too much in my opinion. They do have reasonable prices for lunch hour but once dinner hits, the prices definitely sky rockets. I do believe their food is good but there are more local restaurants that provide just as good quality and quantity.
We were sat at 5:30 at a table set for 5 people even though our reservation was for 6. We had to ask for an extra place setting before we could even get settled. It took about 20 minutes before our server came to take our drink and appetizer order. No waters were provided when we were seated, so we had to request them, which took another 15 to 20 minutes to arrive along with the drinks. We ordered 2 gyoza and 2 shumai, but only received 2 gyoza and 1 shumai. We had to wait again for the missing shumai. It was not until 6:20, nearly an hour after being seated, that we were finally able to place our entrée orders. I ordered the ribeye rare, but it came out well done. They did comp the steak, which I appreciate, but it was still disappointing. The women’s bathroom was extremely dirty with toilet paper all over the floor, one toilet leaking from the base, and water everywhere. Between the slow and disorganized service, incorrect orders, overcooked steak, and filthy bathroom, this was a pretty bad experience overall. I do not plan on coming back.
WORST Valentines Day Dinner ever! Inside the restaurant is modern, spacious and welcoming. That’s the only positive. Food, terrible and lacks flavor. Tuna Tartare and Kobe Beef toast had zero flavor, basically tasted like bland oatmeal. The Mongolian skillet, lacked flavor so avoid this dish. Lastly the Pad Thai, this is how my gf described it “no flavor and the tofu and veggies were soggy. Noodles were mushy and did not have the chewy texture of a rice noodle”. Dish was very sad looking too. Won’t be coming back, and astonished this place has more than four stars on Google reviews.
This restaurant is no longer a decent place to have a good meal. There was loud, loud music, loud loud diners, food and service has become inferior, no A/C. My friends and myself will never return here after years of enjoying ourselves. We don't know what happened to this wonderful restaurant.
Extremely poor service. I ordered from them for delivery and they did not arrive until an hour later than they said and it's literally a 10 minute walk from the delivery address. There were no updates and I kept getting hung up when I call the restaurant and they were saying they didn't get any delivery. Unacceptable!
Awful. I used to love this place for years! I went today and the food was AWFUL, service was worse! I ordered shrimp dumplings, shumai & chicken lollipops. The chicken was raw (&bloody), I attached a pic, and I showed it to the waitress and she flat out told me “I don’t think so”. What?? Secondly, the dumplings & shumai tasted the same.. absolutely nothing. Not even salt. I will never go back here. This used to be one of my fav spots back in the day. Never again. The people I went with were also hesitant because theyve Been there recently and complained that the food was terrible now, but I vouched for this place & I was wrong. Also! Pricing was horrible!!
Horrible experience tonight. Ordered takeout through GrubHub. Waited 45 minutes nothing. There was one kid taking care of the whole restaurant. It wasn’t his fault but I never got my food. I finally asked for a refund. I have no evidence that I’ve gotten a refund. I’ve just lost almost an hour of my life and still no food. He offered for me to wait another 10 minutes so I could get it, but it was done.
One of the worst dining experiences. Had to wait forever for everything. Arrived at 7pm, didn’t even get our appetizers until 8:30pm. Waiter would never come by, had to flag him down for everything. Brought extra drink we didn’t request and wouldn’t take it back. Very slow and bad service here. Table next to us got up and just left at some point.
