We had the roti canai, nasi lemak and beef rendang. Everything was incredibly tasty. I was so enamoured I forgot to take pictures! I have lived in SE Asia so it was nice to eat some of my favorite foods. FYI: they don't have the coconut style laksa, it's the sour type. I wish they had coconut kueh tutu desserts, but they did have homemade pineapple tarts. 🤤
The Crispy Lotus Root appetizer stole the show! So Yummy and Crispy. I cannot wait to try the Roti. Will definitely be back! Friendly service - make sure you bring cash!
My family and I have been coming here for more than a decade. My father is from Ipoh and says that this is as close as you can get to Malaysian cuisine without a flight. The waitresses are also Chinese Malaysian and love to chat up my parents. The food is (obviously) better when you dine in and, like every other smaller restaurant in Flushing, make sure you bring cash. Our go-to dishes is the roti canai for appetizers, chicken broth rice, stingray, "ung choy," fried squid, and spare ribs. When I had been away for college, I always ate here when I came home to visit.

My favorite place to eat! I usually order Roti Sanay and curry chicken noodle soup. I feel as my body thanking me for this food. I can’t say enough how delicious their food is. Just go and try it yourself.

This place is so good!My son loves the bread and curry because it is so good!This place is quicker than McDonald’s!We sat down and ordered and 2-3 minutes later all the food came!I recommend this place for dine in because it would probably be quicker.😀😀😀
The restaurant might not boast fancy decorations, but what it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for with the authenticity and flavor of its dishes. The Char Kway Teow was a standout for me, I will say very classic taste. truly one of the best I've ever had. Not to mention, the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Malaysian flavors!
I loved the food and the inexpensive price. It's a very casual setting and not a lot of parking, but there is street parking all over that you can find. The Tropical Chicken is amazing and I highly recommend it for it's unique flavor and taste. Malay cuisine is kind of a mix of Curries, Chinese Flavors and some Indian throw in for those who aren't initiated in it. I highly recommend it though.
The food at this place is awesome and that my sister and I came to this place months ago and the both or us ordered many things like roti canai, friend noodles, Hainanese chicken and many more foods. The service was slow because it was lunch time and the atmosphere was loud cause people talking.

Everything was excellent! We were served so quickly after being seated, and everything we ordered had so much flavor! We had the mix satay and crispy roti as appetizers, along with hainenese chicken, etc as entrees. The portions were huge and the prices were right!
Definitely one of my must-go places in Flushing. The service is fast and delicious. Their roti canai is a MUST every time I go. Haianese chicken is always bomb, moist and tender with spicy Thai sauce and soy sauce, the shrimp paste water crest is great, and any of the soupy noodles are great too. Love going here for lunch, a snack, dinner, and alone or with a group of friends!
Been going here for probably over a decade. Almost always super fast serving time. Amazing malaysian + chinese food. If you like flavorful noodles, i could eat their meegoreng every week, especially with the fried potatoes that give it a little crunch. Plus they often have a courtesy bean soup for free at the end if they havent run out

I ordered half Hainese style chicken for takeout. At $12, it's the best deal for Asian food in the neighborhood. There's no sauce on it, so very healthy choice. Comes with 2x servings of spicy sauce and soy sauce.
The best food on Earth!!!! Roti sanay is the best thing I've ever had in my life. I wish they were on Long Island as well. I drive 2 hours to get here to enjoy their food. Still it's worth it! Love love love how they cook here.
Satay has been around since the early 2000's.. Possibly even a few years earlier. I've dined in and bought take out at least a few hundred times. Im not exaggerating at all. There's been times where I've come multiple times in the same week to get take out. The Malaysian dishes here are very good. A favorite of mine and I'm sure lots of other people are the Spicy Thai chicken and Hainese Chicken. The roti canai here is one of the best. The bread is always fresh. Do try their other delicious dishes like the Curry Mee noodle soup and Capitan noodles. The service here is so-so as in they're not very friendly but that's how all Asian restaurants are. The prices are very reasonable and the food comes out fast. I will continue to come here till the end of time!
My sister and I have been to this placed and ordered Hainanese chicken, roti, and many others. The service was wonderful, and the food was wonderful. The atmosphere was that there were many people in the restaurant, waiters taking orders, and many others.

Hands down my favorite Malaysian restaurant in NYC. I’ve been eating at this family style restaurant for 15 years and it never lets me down. Pretty much all of their dishes are amazing but let me recommend my favorites: roti canai appetizer, satay chicken/beef appetizer, beef rendang, prawn mee, coconut rice, and the string beans/okra/eggplant stir fry. In all the Malaysian places I’ve eaten at, no one makes a better roti canai than this place because their roti is not like a scallion pancake, it is so much more. It feels homemade and is fluffier, thinner, and stretchier. The curry used for the dip is also amazing. The satay skewers are smokey, full of flavor, and come with this amazing peanut dip. The peanut dip is perfectly balanced in saltiness and sweetness (I usually don’t like my foods sweet so this is saying a lot). The beef rendang is tender and has great flavor. The coconut rice that they make is actually infused with coconut flavor and makes the rice incredibly fragrant. The prawn mee has these amazing chewy egg noodles in a seafood broth that is not overly seafoody and is a little spicy. Lastly, the vegetable stir fry is so unique to Malaysian cuisine and seriously addicting.

The food is paradise here! I wish I could eat it everyday but I live in far LI and they are located in Queens. Crispy roti sanay is my #1 choice and I usually order 3-4 of them. Their curry chicken noodle soup is another my favorite food to go with. Anything you order here is so delicious that instantly boosts dopamine in my body. Malaysian cuisine is the best! I’m glad my friend introduced me to this place. It’s not fancy at all but I don’t care about the ambiance if the food is delicious!
IS satay the best Malaysian spot in Queens NYC or am I wrong ? I Gotta say I'm genuinely impressed it's been years since I had authentic malaysian cuisine probably the last time I had malaysian food was when I was a kid on the other side of Brooklyn if you happen to be in queens I highly recommend their Roti canI the Roti was rich and buttery and the curry broth was on point it definitely brought back childhood memories. Even though it was hot on this particular day I low-key had a stuffy nose due to the spring weather so I decided to get a their signature Tom yum soup I added rice noodles to the dish and not only that they give you the option if you would like thin noodles or wide flat noodles I went with the wide and I expected the soup to be small but I was wrong the portion was definitely worth it the flavors were on point it was tangy, spicy and savory loaded with shrimp, squid and lots of flavor it definitely cleared my sinuses forsure! Last but not least me and my boo orderd their beef chow fun the beef was charred to perfection the flavors were on point I got nothing else to say The menu was huge I wish I had a big stomach to try it all Service was on point in terms of hospitally considering service in Chinatown is known not to be the best. another pro I noticed about the restaurant is there was many locals coming here which is a good sign that the food is going to be bangin Would I come back here again? Absolutely 5 out of 5 stars
This is a hole in the wall. Loud, outdated. Service is good. Food is amazingly delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked. Soft, not dry. The curry noodles are very yummy. Everything we ordered was really good. They take credit card also. (I see below a post about cash only...I think that's for a different restaurant bc this place does not serve on plastic plates).
This place deserves all their good reviews. Old school mom and pop feel with tasty and authentic food. Interior is not renovated but still clean and maintained. Service was attentive, quick and friendly. Family friendly, brought my 2 year old here and they made sure we had everything we needed.
Ever since Jaya 888 closed, this is my favorite Malaysian restaurant in the city! Prawn mee is legit, yong tau foo, kankung is good, their baked goods are good when they have them. Only things I haven't been crazy about are the mee goreng and the kaya (no pandan) but honestly most things are really legit. Oh and their black mee is reallllly good, best in the city imho, lots of wok hei and lard.
Fastest food service I have ever encountered. We got the food with in few minutes of ordering. Food was delicious and we will definitely go there. If you want authentic Malaysian food, this is the place to go. Staff was friendly. We got a roti canai, Malaysian seafood fried rice, a noodle dish and kang kung. We also got a nasi lemak to go. The only thing I would change is the chicken they put for nasi lemak. I wish they give the chicken curry they give for roti canai.
I had a fantastic meal here! The Hainanese chicken was incredibly tender and juicy — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The beef satay had an amazing charred aroma that really brought out the richness of the meat. I also loved the kueh teow thong; it was simple but so heartwarming, with a clean and naturally sweet broth. Overall, everything tasted fresh, authentic, and full of care. Would definitely come back again!

Love going to this small Malaysian place. Although the common dish of Hainan chicken is not as flavorful as other places, they're of great quality - fresh! We particularly like the 4 happiness vegetable dish with eggplant, string beans, sweet peppers & okra in the mild spicy belacan sauce. Other dishes are just as tasty!
I’ve been mourning the loss of Sentosa on Prince St. from years ago and this is possibly the best replacement I’ve found. We got a few standard dishes like Roti Canai, Mee Goreng, Sambal Squid, Hainanese Chicken, etc and they were all delicious! I was even looking forward to eating the leftovers the following days. I’ve also gotten the Nasi Lemak for takeout before and that was quite good too. Service was good and I’m really happy to have found this spot. Would return in a heartbeat!
In my opinion they got the best Hainanese chicken over rice. As you guys realize now a days when you pay with credit card at a restaurant they charge you that extra 3% for credit card payment fee. Unless you pay cash then it is a flat amount of course plus tax. So why should customers have to pay that credit card processing fee when y’all the business that have credit card payment as an option and have an agreement to pay that fee. That’s my only issue. Other than that the food is good. Service is okay. They will fullfilll most of the requests.

Malaysian Style Breakfast 📍Satay - 46-01 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY Breakfast Available only Wednesday to Sunday 7am-10am - but they are open 7 days a week.. . I woke up earlier than I would for work, because my bf said we had to in order to get the breakfast, and it’s only available in the morning. But let me explain… . The morning version (as I would call it), is the ability to choose your items, a variety of fried fish cake, fried taro cake, fried wontons, fish cake, fried tofu skin, eggplant, fried tofu, and stuffed hot peppers. After choosing your items, you then choose dry noodles (which comes with a side of curry sauce) or wet, which comes in the curry sauce and your choice of noodles (flat noodles, egg noodles, thick noodles, etc) they also offer a variety of fried noodles as well as steamed rice noodles, pig skin and lotus wrapped rice… no way I could eat more than I already had… . Not 100% sure of the pricing but we suspect that the base price is $4 (which are the noodles) and $1 each for the items you choose… Chun got 5 times and I got 4 times, our total came out to $17… . Trust me guys, this was so worth it. I don’t know how Malaysians eat this for bfast, I mean, after this, you’re not eating until dinner. It was too early for me, I ate about half… I took the rest to go. The curry is so coconuty and creamy. It’s not spicy, maybe a little but bearable for me. I believe it’s the same curry you get when you order the roti, minus the chicken… . Don’t fret though, they have this on their regular menu as well, except you don’t get to choose your items… and it’s a fixed price. I don’t often order them when I eat Malaysian food but I am definitely gonna do so going forward. It is very tasty. . ICYMI - this is currently my favorite place… been coming here weekly for the past 4 weeks…
Food is absolutely delicious, service is good. It's in a congested place so hard to get parking. Kind of a hole in the wall. Reasonable pricing. Unique menu. Great for take out. But I have sat here and eaten many many times, first when I was dating my husband and now 10 years later when we are in the area. Our favorites are satay chicken and roti telur. We also enjoy a beverage called air Bandon but they didn't have it last time we went.
Roti was light, crispy and curry dipping sauce was fantastic. My Duck Lo Mee was very tasty and the seafood flat noodles was delightful. Service was great. Minor point. The cooling system was moderate. It would have been perfect if it were cooler.
Visited during lunch time and the lunch is solid. This is $40 including tips so the price is slightly higher than what’d I pay for in the area. Everything tastes great, the sauce for the roti canai was room temperature which didn’t bother me; but might bother others. Serving size for the hainan chicken is generous, but almost half were mostly bones. All in all, I would be back for the hainan chicken over rice takeout and skip dine in.
Not sure how should I start. 4 of us went to this place for dinner last night. We were hungry. We ordered 3 dishes, 1 appetizer, and 6 bowls of oil rice...and nothing left when we left. It could be combination of hungry+good foods+small plates. I can't judge clearly for this round, so I will go back another time when I am not as hungry. FYI, we ordered the half chicken (photographed), duck & tofu, shrimp paste string beans, and Indian bread.
1/29/2023. We went there early enough to get some kuih Dakar, some bakeries with kayan in them. We got some taro cake too. Then we decided to stay for a late lunch. Got roti canai, wonton noodle & Malaysian mee. The sad part & unfortunate part for me is that I got a long piece hair in the wonton noodles. My wife reported to them but I didn't objected much. They didn't do anything about it. Then at home when I ate 1 of the kuih dadar I found another hair, almost the same length. Time to buy the Powerball.

First time ordering food overall was very delicious. The Beef Rendang was amazingly tender, Roti Canai was ok but the curry chicken that accompanied it was one of the most flavorful curries I've had. The noodles were also very good with decent portion size. The most overrated item by far was the Hainan chicken which on the delivery site was the No. 1 customer favorite. It was so bland and poorly cooked, was very disappointing considering the rest of the food was so tasty. I hope to go back and try the rest of the menu.
Food was good. Laid back family style restaurant. For the location, price and the look of the restaurant, it was within my expectations. Appetizers were definitely better than the entrees. Malaysian style fried rice was really good. Roti Canai was also decent. I actually liked that the roti was thin and crispy. I have had Roti Canai many times, including in Malaysia, and most of the time the roti tasted just like the store bought packets. This one seemed different, in a nice way. Chicken and beef satays were really good. Wasn’t a fan of the Ayam Rendang. I would definitely go back to try different items.
I stumbled upon Satay one evening which means I did zero research and literally walked in off the streets. The staff was friendly and quickly seated us. Decor was not impressive and the ambiance was that of a humble Asian restaurant. The menu offered a "Vegetables" section, but vegetarians beware! Several of the items contained seafood or meat, such as "String Beans with Minced Pork." We ordered roti canai and tofu satay as appetizers and then Buddhist Delight and Salted Fish with Chinese Broccoli as entrees. Everything came out fresh and hot and as soon as it was ready. The roti was light green with golden brown toasted areas which was the first time I had ever seen it in those colors. It was beautiful to look at and even better to eat the thin, light, crunchy bread dipped in the curry accompaniment. The tofu satay was made of 4 good-sized tofu wedges generously stuffed with bean sprouts and crushed peanuts that you could drizzle with sweet peanut sauce. The entrees were not too salty and all the ingredients looked bright and fresh. We were offered a dessert which was a bowl of barley and bean curd skin in a sweet, but not excessively sweet cream which I enjoyed because I have a bit of a sweet tooth. Overall, great casual place with good food and even better service. (Granted, we were 1 of four occupied tables in a restaurant that has about 12+ tables available.)
This review is for the food, not really their restaurant service or ambiance as I had a takeout order. I had a craving for Malaysian food and I don’t really have that around me. But of course Flushing has a few great spots to choose from! I decided to try Satay and I’m glad I made that choice! I ordered half a Hainanese Chicken with a large Hainanese rice and three noodle soups: Clay Pot Pearl Noodle Soup, Fish Ball Flat Noodle Soup, and Curry Mee with Yong Tofu. I’ve had all of these dishes many times before in my favorite Malaysian Restaurants before and that’s what I have to compare to. Everything was pretty decent. Of everything I got from here, I’d say the Clay Pot Pearl Noodles were by far my favorite and was most accurate to what I was craving. The chewiness of the noodles and the flavors were perfect. Second fave had to be the fish ball flat noodle (ho fun) soup. It’s hard to find good fish balls nowadays since the brand I like got discontinued and you can no longer order them. But these fishballs had a good bounce back to them and a good bite to them! Loved that!
Good local spot offering many curry options. Arrived at 8:20 pm on Tuesday and place was bustling. The Curry Mee with Yong Tofu was rich & creamy with just the perfect blend of Curry. 👍👍 The mixed Satay & Hainanese rice was average. The decor & plate ware can use some upgrades. The Rooster 🐔 ceramic cup was a nice touch. They should get matching plates, spoons, & teapot. Not recommended for date night, but okay to chill with buddies… 3/16/25 Good curry beef stew noodles 🍜

Pros: not so expensive considering it's 2024. Roti tastes good, but sauce can have more kick to it. Hainese chicken is smooth but def plain tasting itself, rice is great texture. Should have more chicken to go with rice. Soy sauce noodles was underwhelming, short and hard to eat, lacked flavor despite made in sauce ironically. Shrimps were great. Eggplant tofu tastes healthy despite being fried. Ice kachong tastes best as a drink but make sure to mix it. Overall hard to get parking in the area and if you're nearby great stop by, but hard to justify a 30 plus round trip drive. May order other foods next time since it's hard to find good Malay.
I ate at different places in Flushings while visiting NY last winter. I have tried traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. And on the night of my trip, my family took me to Malaysian. My family did the ordering since I've not been here before. I can't name all the dishes I took that pictures of, but they all tasted great. We had fried tofu, some satay dishes, fried pig intestines, fried rice, and vegetables. My favorite dish has to be the Han Nan Chicken Rice. The secret of this dish is not about the chicken. It is all about the rice. The rice has to cook in a certain way. It needs to be cooked with chicken fats with chicken broth. Without the correct balance, it will not taste right. Many of the places I visited failed to prepare the rice properly. Overall, we love the dishes. The service is pretty good. You can almost expect excellent service in small family-style restaurants. I can't wait to go back and try that chicken dish again.
I'm a big fan of Malaysian food in general, the flavors, the colors, the presentation and of course the prices. The first thing I think you'll notice when you walk in is the smell of incense not food. There isn't anything particularly exceptional about this place. You can be as nit picky as you want, but nothing should stray you away from the food you are getting. Their roti is on the thinner and flakier side. I have been to a few where it's thicker and softer; at this point it's just personal preference. Their Hainanese rice is awesome, and their satay is also very good. Their Hainanese chicken is also flavorful and so is the string beans with shrimp paste (it does have a small kick!)
Change in ownership. The tasty is not the same as what it used to be. Some dishes were OK, the rests disappointing. Hopefully they can get the old chefs back or at least get the taste right. It was our go to Malaysian, we will try it agian and hope for the best.
It's one of the few Malaysian restaurants around. So for that reason I give it 3 stars. I just read a review saying it is under new ownership. But we have been there many times. It is dirty. They are no longer in Malaysia but run this like it is in Malaysia. We had chicken feathers in our chicken. It is dirty and substandard or it was I have not been since the pandemic. But it is one of the few Malaysians around.
Food is ready in 5 min! ( Too fast to make me feel weird ) If you are in a rush and still want to dine in a restaurant, you can come here. I think their taste is not as good as few years back. Ordered a curry noodle, curry taste good but somewhat watery. The sauce on Thai chicken is good.
Nothing really stands out about this place. The food is ok, the service is ok, and parking in front is non existent. Pretty much a standard Malaysian restaurant
I originally wanted to give this place a high rating because my first visit was impressive. However, the second and third times left me slightly disappointed each time. Especially during my last visit, I ordered their chicken, and the meat wasn’t tender, smooth, or juicy anymore—it just didn’t compare to the amazing experience I had the first time. My friend and I shared a plate of chicken, and it honestly made us feel pretty sad. I think we won’t be coming back to this restaurant anytime soon because their quality seems so inconsistent.
The food typical Malaysia spicy but not all the dishes, we like, so try to go anytime we have the time. The service is fine. Wow last week we went back after few months, we eat hokkien mee and cantonese chow fun was salty, they gave us wood chopsticks, terrible the one they used for takeout. The quality drop, the food was bad. Maybe new cook , well what else can I say.
Ordered takeout from Satay and unfortunately, it was a letdown. I got the Laksa, and it honestly looked and tasted like it came straight out of a can of sardines mixed with fish sauce. I don’t mind bold flavors or strong smells, but this just didn’t deliver. The flavor was flat, and the portion size was pretty bad for the price. Overall, it felt like a waste of a meal. We won’t be coming back.
I went to this restaurant anticipating Malaysian cuisine but found that they mostly had on their menu Chinese and Thai with very few Malaysian options. The food was not that great and I felt it was overpriced. My children ordered some kind of pan fried noodles and didn’t even touch it as it looked so unappealing! The satay and the spring rolls were good. The fried rice we ordered was mediocre.
We ordered mango papaya salad, when the order arrived, there was no mango and papaya in the salad. We asked the waiter, he said mangoes and papaya are difficult to keep fresh, so we no long serve it. 1st, all the other restaurant or juice bar able to serve mango and papaya. If you keep it on the refrigerator, it can last at least for a week. 2nd, golden supermarket is next door. 3rd, if you dont serve it, you have to let the customer know. 4th You dont charge people for a dish full of carrots and green peppers for the price of fresh fruits!
They used to have good food and service, but that's no longer the case. In my last visit, the food tastes bad and service was ok at best, nothing like how it was before. It's either they've change the chief or he/she gone crazy working there. The coffee and tea mix drink I've ordered taste sucks as well. The waitresses were a bit rude. They make fun of their customers after they left. Very disappointed as it was one of our favor pla CD e to visit.
I rarely giving any review but today is Dec/24th/18 Christmas eve night. We order a take out order from satay restaurant. We clearly order by phone to the restaurant and the person who taking our order also repeatedly our order. I ask her what is my total cost bc I'm paying in cash. She responds I'm busy now but I'll call you back in a minute to let you know the total cost. But she didn't call back till the delivery guy arrived and tell us the price is $89.00 We pay him $100 cash included $11 is for tips. Once we open the take out bag we find out there is one items we didn't order and right the way we call back to the restaurant. Who so ever pickup the phone and try to said that we did the ordering ask her how come, I wrote down what we going to order for dinner and repeat our order. Bottom line who so ever on the phone not doing or her tune is not what I'm expecting as in restaurants business & what supposedly be taking care. We frequently order from them but today will be our LAST TIME ORDER FROM THEM. ZERO START AT CUSTOMERS SERVICE. The pork chop we order is dry and taste less. The bak kut tea meal is also taste less and watery. The pork intestine IS NOT FRESH. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SERVICE .
Waitresses were making fun of a customer after she left. Calling her stingy and a haggler. Then they said a few curse words... ignoring the young patrons that were within ear shot. Although not indicated, there is a 15% tip requirement. It doesn't matter that the service was bad or that they cursed. All in all I would advise others to stay away. Doesn't seem too family friendly. Highly disappointed.
They Make You feel VERY uncomfortable and it’s obvious. As a bi-racial couple we went there to try something new. When we came in no one cared to serve us. Then when we actually sat down the waitress didn’t give us any eye contact and asked us what do we want? They never came once to ask us if we need more water or soda or anything else. The Utensils Were literally thrown on the table. We weren’t even done eating and one of the waitress came quickly to take our plates so we could leave. Keep in mind other people were sitting there talking and they were done eating. This restaraunt doesn’t sadly cater to anyone who isn’t asian. Don’t make people uncomfortable when they are paying money for their meals. Never will go again and was recommended other Malaysian restaurants.
Came here to eat with my mom and my service dog and was turned away even after showing the manager my service dog's license. I was so embarrassed and shocked to see this happen in New York City. I tried to explain to them that this was NOT an emotional support animal, and that he is a service animal who performs a task. I felt so discriminated against for my disability and I will never come back here. The management clearly does not understand NY State law and has no empathy towards people with special needs.
This place been here almost 15years+, only sanitation depart order to shut down, they will do some renovation to keep open. The staff and food very dirty as Malaysia style… server lazy as work slacker to escape this working place; if you using restroom , take a look of kitchen , it will same as the toile there…
The food is not bad for me as a Malaysian myself. However, there isn’t a good customer service. The person at the counter wasn’t happy because I wanted to pay with card instead of cash simply because it is lesser than $15. Overall, the food comes with reasonable price but personally I feel they treat the customer based on how much u spend. Not a second trip for me.
Walking into this place should feel welcoming, but instead the entire mood gets ruined by the cashier/boss. She’s an older lady with glasses who seems permanently grumpy. No smile, no warmth, not even a simple “thank you” after spending your money here. The lack of basic courtesy makes the whole experience uncomfortable. It’s as if customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason the business exists. A business thrives on good service, but when the person at the counter sets such a negative tone, it overshadows everything else. Honestly, the atmosphere is so unpleasant that I’d rather take my money elsewhere. Food is ok.. get rid of the cashier.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was genuinely one of the worst delivery meals I’ve had in a long time. The food was completely flavorless, it tasted like plain noodles mixed with soy sauce and tossed out of the door. If you can’t maintain quality, you shouldn’t be offering delivery at all.
The food was ice cold. I ordered the rot8 canai and the roti boom I received exactly 2 of the same orders. The roti was cold and hard with something green running through it. I did NOT eat it. It was inedible. I ordered the Captin Noodles. They were cold and the noodles were all stuck together. I requestes utensils but I did not receive any. It was difficult to eat stuck together noodles with my hands. Terrible experience. It cost $43. I definitely do NOT recommend thos restaurant. I would NEVER est there.
I was there yesterday and the same negative experience happened to me while ordering takeout. The cashier/Manager in the front with the glasses, who is a lady, she has the worst attitude you can have in a service industry. She looks at you in an unfriendly manner, not to mention we are the customers. And tends to give you back talk when you ask her for extra sauces. If she hates her job so much, she should just leave and let somebody more friendly stand at the front counter. There are more than one Malaysian restaurant in Flushing, I would choose to spend my money elsewhere.
This was the worst Asian food experience in Flushing! From the start, Hainan chicken we ordered was nothing like what it should be; the famous Malaysian rib soup was more like Chinese herbal soup (not even cheer broth like it’s supposed to be!); ong choi tasted strange and old, braised tofu was the worst with bad sauce and used egg tofu… and the only thing that was decent was their jumbo sizzling shrimp. When we didn’t take home any of the food left over, the server was very confused as we had so much left over! Do NOT Recommend coming here
the cantonese chow fun (fried rice noodle) is suppose to be crispy and easy to break. even when mixing with the sauce later, it will not break and soften. it is not edible. it’s as hard as a rock. when we called and complained, they gave an excuse and claimed that the noodle is supposed to be like that. how can a noodle be like and cost $13.95??? expensive and not edible. i do NOT recommend.
I normally go to a different restaurant for Malaysian food in Flushing area but wanted to try something new. After been searching for Malay food in the same area I saw this restaurant has plenty of good reviews so decided to try. Restaurant entrance is a bit confusing because there is some food tent right next to it and kinda blocks it if coming from the side of the building. The food is ready pretty quickly and they ONLY take CASH. I got Roti Canai and Mee Goreng. I was looking forward to eating them but the food was very disappointing. I was shocked that there is no meat in Mee Goreng but potato, tofu and few pieces of shrimp which most of those were overcooked and burnt I couldn't even eat them. I am actually a tofu lover but they were so bad that I had to put them aside to throw away. And I hate wasting food! It was such a waste of food and money. What I learned from this is that I can't trust the reviews until I really try it myself. I won't be back here again and I will not recommend other people to try. *Note: Roti Canai was ok. It's not worth the hype. I've had better.
