Absolutely love this spot for any type of outing. I live right in the area and come here for happy hours, dinners, post dinner pregames, and even when my family comes to town. The ambiance is awesome and the food is spectacular. Not to mention, the service is always on point with the staff always going above and beyond. I would recommend this spot 100 times over to anyone who comes to the area!
Definitely a new regular neighborhood spot for us! Great cocktails and wine with very good food including charcuterie, a 6 piece shrimp cocktail, and a large lobster roll. Plenty of outdoor seating, and funky decor.
Jonhatan took really good care of me. As a Black woman I like to pay attention to the quality service received and tip as generously or lack there of. First happy hour and the oysters were quite small, otherwise I'm a happy customer.
Ethan, the bartender was fantastic. He is super nice and thoughtful. Always engaging, easy to talk to and checking in. Not only does he makes delicious drinks 🍺 but he has a great smile too.
Ethan was an amazing server! Drinks were delicious and is a great spot for a Friday night. Lively atmosphere but not too crowded and you can still get a table without a reservation!
This is the second time I’ve been here and the bartender Ethan has been nothing short of stellar. Very attentive and kind. The same goes for John, who is another bartender and who is also awesome. Great place, great atmosphere and I will certainly be coming back in the future.
This is a great local bar in the Court Sq area. Their happy hour deals are solid and the charcuterie/cheese plates are always on point. I highly recommend the cocktails. They play live music from time to time so check out the notice board.
Cool place. Great vibes. Came here with a couple of my friends for happy hour. Staff is very friendly and attentive which was nice. High end bar food. Definitely a boujee happy hour 💕🥰
Loved my visit here which started at happy hour and ended two hours later. They currently serve small plates so a double order of meat and cheese plates kept our table going while we enjoyed their delicious wine and beer selections. The staff is super friendly, the decor is beautifully rustic but also bright and prices are reasonable.
I had a great experience at this bar! The bartender and host were very friendly to us and very knowledgeable about the drinks. The cocktails were delicious and the oysters were great! Go Joey and Ethan!
Oysters, deviled eggs and cocktails, all served perfectly. Thanks for a great evening! ❤️
They work hard to keep a good atmosphere and friendly environment. Try the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale it’s hard to find that any where. Good cocktails, and happy hour. I really like the meat and cheese platers.
Low key bar with great drinks and cozy atmosphere. The loudest sounds are the conversations and I suppose that's kinda refreshing. Definitely dig into the cocktail menu, and allegedly the chacuterie is excellent so try that as well.
This place is my favorite spot in LIC. The cocktails are amazing and everyone is so friendly. I love getting the Toasted Daniel and my new favorite cocktail is the Rock Hudson.
It is a very nice place, good food and good drink. Perfect for an aperitivo with charcuterie and other good choiches.
This is an amazing spot for cocktails & eats! They immediately found us a place in the packed arena. Josh had the killer cocktails, and the "Manchego Bruschetta" was great. Thank you!
Cool bar with tasty drinks, outside sitting, and nice atmosphere and decor. I ordered a dozen oysters, $2 each, and two drinks. A seasonal gin drink with, and a regular drink from their menu, french 85. The oysters were excellent, fresh, and nice flavor. The seasonal drink was great, but I was not a fan of the French 85. I would definitely go back, specially for their happy hour.
The drinks were good! good vibes too. small but great cocktail menu
Beast next door is our favorite local bar. The bartenders are great and John, the owner, is amazing. Very friendly and super detail oriented. The drinks and food are great. We often order the house special which is a bean and egg dish. They offer live music many Saturdays. Space is well thought out an uniquely decorated. Very clean. Highly recommend.
The Beast Next Door is my favorite place in Long Island City! Such a hidden gem. If you are looking for a date night, corporate happy hour or even a private party, this is the perfect spot. The food is delicious, the drinks are phenomenal and the staff is so accommodating.
This hidden gem is an absolute must for your next night out! I have literally tried everything on their menu and have never been disappointed. The drinks, the food, the ambiance, and the staff all add to the wonderful experience. Coming here has become a ritual for me on my drives down from Hartford; a delicious little reward after a very long drive!
Love this neighborhood bar in LIC. Been coming in for years. Toasted Danielle is my go-to, and the new seasonal cocktails are amazing! Rock Hudson and The Long Goodbye are perfect cocktails for fall ❤️❤️. Can't wait to come back!
Shawn was extremely nice, He was very attentive and friendly, My group loved all his drinks. This is an amazing place to be with your friends and talk, the food is good quality. I highly recommend it. I’m definitely coming back !
The Beast is my favorite bar. I've been going there for years. They have great cocktails and a great beer selection. They serve meats, cheeses and salads. The background music is lo-fi type of music. The clientele is a diverse group of people. It's a lively bar without the ruckus. Check it out. You won't regret it.
An absolute local favorite for us. We has seen 2 different owners but most of the team remained the same. Jonny, Caitlin, Mauricio, Ethan... All make us feel very welcome and we absolutely love the vibe at the Beast! No TV's here yet, so not a bar where you'd want to watch some sports. But if you are looking for that cozy winter bar feel, with excellent cocktails that Caitlin mixes with absolute perfection and consistency, this is the place to go. Their updated food menu is very nice too! Excellent service, good food, brilliant ambiance and very well priced... What else can one ask for?
I really love this place for any occasion! It’s a great first date spot and I also came here for New Years Eve as well. The service is spectacular and they really make you feel at home which just makes the experience that much more fun. If you’re looking for a place with quality food for a very reasonable price, come here with your friends, family or whoever you want to show a good time!
Loved the service! Loved the atmosphere! Cocktails are great to pair with one of their charcuterie boards. Will definitely be back the next time I find myself in LIC.
One of the few bars in this area that’s open late. Friendly staff and yummy drinks! FYI you seat yourself (at least that’s what it’s been during my past experiences here). Haven’t tried the food but looking forward to in the future.
Cool vibe — inside it’s nice, dark, and put-together but not pretentious or anything. Music is fun but you can still talk. Joey was our server and he was friendly and funny. Interesting drinks and a solid strong old-fashioned 👍
Beast Next Door is an LIC staple. As everything around it changes (not always for the better) this bar maintains its excellence. The drinks are fantastic, the atmosphere welcoming, and the staff some of the best in the city.
Super cute wine bar/restaurant in LIC. The decor is more rustic, with lots of wood and natural colors. The food menu is tapas style and mostly centered around charcuterie. The open faced soppressata sandwich was incredible, and I also loved our little charcuterie board with prosciutto and manchego. Also would recommend getting some oysters here. I would return!
Awesome bar in the area They have gluten free bread Cheese and meat boards were great
I passed this spot while walking in LIC, checked the menu and sat down. Wow, the other reviews are correct. I enjoyed my drinks and charcuterie options. Very chill vibes and relaxed environment. Prices are fair and match the environment and quality. Limited outdoor seating, but indoor seating is also available also. I have a feeling this place is going to be packed regularly as more people find this spot.
Loved this place. Great atmosphere. Excellent drinks.
Some of the best cocktails I’ve had in the city, with a great atmosphere to match.
Great establishment! Love the vibe and the atmosphere . One of the better cocktail bars in the area where the bartenders are nothing short from excellent. Whenever I come in I feel like the most important customer so it goes to show they have a great customer service relationship. Ethan is one of the greatest bartenders and makes the best drinks! Definitely would recommend !
beautiful bar with great vibes! try the dry rose cider!
Lovely interior, great drinks! We tried some cheeses and the oysters, both were pleasant for the eyes and taste buds. Next time, when I ask for some butter (for the toasted bread which came with the cheese), I'd be grateful to get some. ,,We don't have butter" doesn't sound right. Anyway, it is still a place I hope to visit again.
Matt was fantastic! So friendly and incredibly helpful with everything at the bar. The conversations with the staff and the other guests at the bar were amazing—such a warm, welcoming NYC vibe. Also, we got to watch someone eat 100 deviled eggs—only in New York! You never know what to expect, but it’s always a great time!
Such a fun place! Tried a lot of different food options and everything was delicious. Get the deviled eggs!! Drinks were yummy as well. Small space. Get there early or make a reservation. Friendly and attentive service.
I been here only a couple times which is a shame because I only stay up the block from this place and the last time I was there they had this really friend cute woman waitress she was really nice and the drinks where pretty good too. I’ll definitely be coming back to this place again very soon. Umkay !
Popped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for hours. Genevieve looked after us from the moment we stepped in - gave us a handwritten list of local recommendations, insisted we tried the croquettes (sensational - best I’ve had) and cured my hangover from the night before. Don’t pass on this place it’s one of the highlights from our trip!!!
our waitress Genevieve is such a gem! she is very attentive considering a busy evening and super sweet! and the bartender April is phenomenal and will do you right with the drinks! definitely would recommend this bar for a classy evening! thank you!!
Stopped by here last night to catch up with some old friends. Had an absolutely fantastic evening on the patio. Service was fantastic and our server was so beyond nice. She really made us feel at home and had some fanatic recommendations on the charcuterie board. I had the lobster roll which might have been the best lobster roll I’ve ever had outside of Maine! Overall, 5 stars and can’t wait to come back again to explore more of the cocktail menu.
Stylish warm cocktail bar with indoor/outdoor seating. I’m staying in a hotel nearby and this place is my go to in the late evening. The cocktails are inventive and the food is fantastic. Loved the Daniele tartine and the charcuterie board with some pretty amazing meat/cheese options. Favorite cocktail is Night Bazaar. By far the best food I’ve had in the immediate area… great vibe (leaning toward hipster, but not annoying) - good people watching lol.
If you're looking for a clean, cozy spot near the train stations (QUEENS PLAZA) to grab a quick bite and a drink, GO HERE! The after-work crowd gives it a relaxed, social energy without being too loud or crowded. Shoutout to William, our server. Super helpful and knew the menu like the back of his hand. The starters were especially on point. They have sandwich selection too. Perfect for quick snacks or casual meetup. Whether you're winding down after a long day or just passing through the area, The Beast Next Door is worth a stop!
Tucked away with the air of a hidden neighborhood gem, The Beast Next Door offers a moody, rustic ambiance that instantly invites you to linger. From the exposed brick to the warm lighting, it strikes that sweet spot between Brooklyn cool and classic wine bar intimacy. I started with the Grey Garden, a gin-based cocktail with elderflower and lemon—a smart, floral-forward choice for any gin enthusiast. Balanced and refreshing, it was a well-crafted drink that didn’t lean too sweet, letting the botanicals shine. My date opted for a local beer, which was perfectly decent, and followed it with a Malbec red wine—perhaps not a standout on its own, but notably improved when paired with the manchego from our charcuterie board. Speaking of which, the board was generous and thoughtfully arranged. We enjoyed bresaola and soppressata alongside briny olives, sweet fig jam, grapes, and crisp croutons. A classic spread, elevated by the simple but satisfying combination of flavors and textures. The service deserves mention—the waiter was well-versed in the drink menu and offered recommendations without pretension, which added to the overall experience. With its cozy atmosphere, live music events, and promising drink list, The Beast Next Door is the kind of spot that invites repeat visits. I’m looking forward to returning for happy hour—and finally trying the oysters.
1/21/23 i’ve heard of this place many times but I’ve never gone until this day. we were looking for a nice cozy place place to have dinner and boy! did we make the right choice. Everything about this place was awesome especially the service given to us by Joe he was awesome and the cheese board , drinks , ambience, music everything was great. Of course I must recommend and me. Of course, I must recommend and return 👍
I think I found my new neighborhood spot - this place is absolute perfection and has some great happy hour offerings including $1 oysters! Looking forward to many more trips here after work and during the weekends. If you’re in the area, you have to stop by and try out some of their delicious drinks!
This tucked away spot in LIC has $1 oysters for happy hour and a spectacular spread of meats and cheeses for a great night on a first date or catch up with friends. The decor has a dark classy feel, that makes you feel like you're not in Queens. Wait staff is attentive and does their best as this place does get crowded. Reservations are recommend.
I’m so glad I went here. They were good about checking proof of vaccination. They have outdoor seating but I wanted to dine solo at the bar. The staff is great, very professional and organized. I was so hungry. The ‘raw bar’ oysters came out quickly followed by a pear salad and cheese plate. I watched the mixologist serve up beautiful cocktails with a relaxed and friendly demeanor. I had four nights in Long Island and I ate here twice.
The rusty anchor cocktail is good. Old fashioned was way too sweet. They use large ice cubes. Pour your own water stations. They had live music, which ended around 11pm. There's a couple of very spacious and clean bathrooms.
Great local bar that sometimes hosts live bands. Enjoyed the wine and beers along w/ the platter. Nothing fancy but quite comfortable to be at. Extremely friendly owner who came by frequently and entertained a chat. Would recommend to anyone who’s in the area and would like a low key night out.
Stopped by here for drinks on a Saturday evening and it was pretty quiet. Prices for cocktails were reasonable for NYC. The village dream was good and stronger than I expected! Would definitely come back if I were in the area and it were happy hour.
The ambiance and staff are phenomenal. The vibe is classy casual and the bar does a great job on the music (and sound level); the only downside is the food menu is limited. It the drinks are solid!
Fresh and plentiful A nice assortment Joey was so on point and cheerful It’s well worth the trip to this off the grid place Another hidden gem in Queens Atmosphere well depends on what you’re looking for. A friendly place with no drama and just a relaxing time. Then here is the place.
A dependable cocktail bar in the area for drinks and snacks. Been here a few times and the cocktails are tasty - food is mostly snacks, charcuterie and cheeses. Oyster happy hour is fun! Atmosphere is dark wood and candlelight’s - intimate and quaint with some gilded mirrors. The few times I’ve visited include waiting for a dinner res nearby or after hanging out at MoMA PS1. Be advised they stop serving food before they close; but they’re happy to give you a little bowl of olives! Recommended.
Over the year I passed by this place during the day a few times and have been wanting to try it. So glad I finally did a month ago! Yes late post. My friend and I opted to sit at the bar, very nice and friendly bartender. I love the dimly rustic ambience with pretty chill vibe, and not too loud music in the background. Lively but not too crazy! We didn’t have dinner but had a great time catching up over Oysters on Half Shell, and some Charcuterie & Cheese. I am adding this joint on my ‘will be back’ list and definitely be back soon!
This place is a hidden gem! I stopped here after an all day outing for a glass of wine and small bites and they did not disappoint. It was standing room only as I didn’t have a reservation, but once a table opened, the host seated us promptly. The vibe is intimate, dark, and a great place to grab a drink with friends. For the meat & cheese platter, I got the smoked duck breast & prosciutto which was fresh & went perfect with my wine. I typically like west coast oysters because they’re small and sweet, but I could appreciate the ones I ordered from here. Overall, I had a good experience and if I’m in Long Island City again, I will definitely be back :)
Good bar with beer, cocktails and vibe. The bar is not too crowded, and there are quite a good selection of cocktails. The cocktails here are rather smooth and light, and it might be more acceptable for light drinkers. The beer here is also pretty good, heavy drinkers could try out their beer. A recommended bar that is not crowded in LIC!
So disappointed! I’ve been here multiple times, a couple of weeks ago for a date and liked it enough to come back for my birthday. I made a 9pm reservation which I admittedly arrived late for, my reservation was canceled, which was very fair but then it was hard to sit us (anywhere?) I asked to sit outside and the waiter said we could but we would give up the table in an hour or so. No one sat in the “reserved” tables inside and no one came for the outside table either. Why did he not want us there? I have no idea, we got our initial drinks and then didn’t get asked for a single other round. We had to flag the waiter with the hat and shoulder length hair. Jesus, you would think we’d be getting these drinks for free the way we were begging to be served. I went home sober for the first on my birthday, 3 stars because the cocktails the waiter allowed us to have were solid.
Went for happy hour. Decent prices but the appetizers were disappointing for the price. The shareable meat tray was tasty but this place was straight up weak when it came to portions. Like I get it LIC people don’t each much to stay thin but hook me up with a legit portion you know. Still trying to eat something for the price of a normal entree anywhere else.
Cute neighborhood bar. Rustic atmosphere and dimmly lit which made it feel pretty romantic for an easy date night. I cant put my finger on how the place is because it felt like I was in a wooden cabin but at a rich person's log cabin. Food is very lifted classy food such as salad, charcuterie, and few sandwich options. We ordered the roasted duck which iny opinion very very gamey and I did not like. The cheese was very good and standard for what it is. The charcuterie all comes with crostini’s, grapes and olives. Im not an olive fan either but the rest of that is very good. Toasted Daniele was probably the best of what we ordered. It's savory, crispy, and so good I'd get it again. The lobster roll is good but it's small and for $27 it honestly was not ground breaking. The rose cider was so good! It came in a bottle but it was the perfect blend of rose and cider which was really refreshing.
My roommate hosted her birthday party here as an open bar. The owner said that she had to get at least 30 people for it and gave her a set price. Once at the open bar and two hours passed the owner did not yell out last call or alert the host that the two hours were gone, and instead allowed it to go for an extra hour and charged her for it (extra$1800) without her knowledge. He forced her to sign an incorrect bill against her will despite the fact that we had Numerous emails to prove what the price should have been. The owner will act like your best friend until the bill comes out and then try to screw you over with extra charges. STRONGLY SUGGEST JUST FINDING A DIFFERENT PLACE - its not worth it. I expected so much more professionalism from the owner.
I live like 2 mins away and always wanted to try this place. Such a disappointment. Dollar oysters were very tiny, which is OK given the price, but the service was terrible (You really need to work on your attitude). You may have had a bad day but you don’t have to be that mean! I regret that I still tipped them nicely just to be polite. Won’t return ever again!
I walked in with a party of 6. I waited by the door as there was a sign that said wait to be seated. I was quickly approached by a rude bartender who stated that last call was in 15 minutes but “they guess they could seat us” the eye rolls that followed didn’t help. It was 12:40 and the place closed at 2:00am. I understand a last call. But why all the hostility? It felt like we were an inconvenience in this establishment. What’s worse is the opener/whoever is in charge of these reviews going through and claiming these reviews are lies. I have never left a review, negative or positive. BUT this bar is terrible. Save your money/ but most importantly save your time. Rude workers who are dishonest. Worst place I’ve ever been.
DO NOT GO HERE. This was the most blatantly discriminatory experience I’ve ever had at a bar. I live just a block away and would have been a regular here, but after this experience, I will never go back. I went with a friend and asked to be seated. The host asked if we had a reservation; when I said no, he told us we’d have to wait 40 minutes—even though more than 80% of the tables were empty. I was confused and asked if we could sit at one of the many open tables while waiting and move if someone with a reservation arrived. He refused and said we had to wait standing. Out of curiosity, I checked Resy and saw multiple openings. I immediately booked a table for two and told him, thinking that would solve the issue. He still said no and insisted we wait, even though the bar was nearly empty. Then I watched as two white guests walked in without a reservation and were seated right away. When I asked if I was being discriminated against because I’m Asian, he denied it but still wouldn’t seat us. It was blatant, humiliating, and completely unacceptable—especially in LIC, a neighborhood with such a large Asian community. I’ve never experienced this kind of treatment anywhere before.
My friend and I ordered two Hugo spritz on the 4th of July. The spritz's came out and were awful, didn't have the correct flavor profile. We let our server know and asked if we could get something else to replace them because obviously they were not made correct. She said she would get us another drink but we would have to still pay for the spritz's even if we didn't drink them because they were a "classic spritz" and acted as if we were lying, even though a Hugo Spritz is my drink of choice so I am very familiar with how they should be made and how they should taste. She didn't even confirm if they were made correctly or look into it. I ended reluctantly chugging mine, because if I am paying $20 for a drink I am not going to let it go to waste, but my friend couldn't get the courage to finish theirs (because it was SO bad). We obviously did not order another drink, as the server recommended. We would have had several drinks there that night and it is really a bummer to pay for $40 for two drinks that were awful. I live right next door and will not be back!
Our server Jonathan K was so rude and inconsiderate. About one hour in I had to leave early and asked if I could pay my own tab because I needed to leave and he aggressively said no with an attitude and said you should’ve told me earlier if you needed your own tab. Mind you 20 minutes before my friend had asked and got their own tab paid easily. Also, I have been here previously and paid my own individual tab with no issue and I have never been told tabs cannot be split. When I went up to the bar to pay and I asked again very politely, Jonathan, still with the same attitude said I had to pay the entire tab and my friends could keep drinking after. I then realized once he gave me the check that an auto 20% gratuity was added with parties of 6 or more and if I had paid my tab separately there would’ve only been 5 of us. This makes sense why he didn’t let me pay alone. This was a ridiculous experience I would never have tipped that much for such terrible service and these sorts of games should not be played to game guaranteed tips off of customers. Tips are earned from good service, not like this.
