I recently attended a fantastic GIN event here on Tuesday, and the exceptional bartenders truly impressed me! The atmosphere is both cozy and vibrant, making it an ideal spot to celebrate my upcoming birthday. The beautiful bar and amazing music were the perfect complements. Our host was kind, entertaining, and ensured everyone had a great time. Whether you're with coworkers, friends, or on a date, this is a great place to be. Thank you for the invite!
Fun speakeasy-type spot in an art gallery above a dive bar. Pretty unique its own right, with tasty drinks and eclectic music. Bartender Zac provides some of the friendliest service around! Definitely a spot I will come back to.
Overall rating: 4.8 Wow what a cool place! I came here with a few new friends and I loved the whole vibe. Must get the chai martini. SO DELICIOUS. Alas, like all places in nyc drinks are about $20 😭😭 so a tad too expensive for my taste. A great date spot, but hard to meet new people based on the two times I went. Two very odd notes is that when there was really good music, I swore there was a dj. But I think after 12 or 1, they started playing 70s/ 80s music and it turned into an odd karaoke style gen z singing bar. Totally took away the charm of the place for me. Doubt I’d go back at night again. Still recommend!
I love the idea of this speakeasy. Hidden behind an art gallery. You’ll be kinda wondering if youre in the right place which is definitely the definition of a speakeasy! Came here twice without reservations, just for drinks. Never had a problem getting a table. Host was very nice and accommodating. Drinks are somewhat strong, the bar tends to get loud once it gets crowded but if you catch a time where its pretty chill it can be really intimate as well. I will always come back if im in the area!
My first speakeasy experience and it went great! It was in an art gallery and not that hidden…you opened a door and then bam there was Fig 19. I fell in love with the decor and the drinks looked great. My bartender was sweet and had knowledge about the drinks so she steered me into the perfect cocktail choice for myself. The music was alright and the bathrooms were clean which is always a plus! I definitely can’t wait to come back and have a few more drinks.
Some very good cocktails in this hidden bar. First time we wanted to visit we accidentally went to the bar next door. The setting is nice, music is good... Not too crowded, and happy hour between 5PM and 9PM. Compliments to the staff! We visited twice, but might go there tomorrow for a final visit =)
It was a good experience. Little crowded during Halloween. Spent around 1.5 hrs. The drinks are very decent. A guy at the entrance will let you into an “art gallery”/ empty room which will lead you into the actual room. We were a group of 5 and managed to get a table by the time we got our drinks.
I came here after work on a Thursday, hoping for a relaxed cocktail. Early in the evening, it was calm, and the atmosphere was nice low lighting, cool interior, and a unique entrance. Cocktails were solid, but nothing particularly memorable for the price. Service was polite but a bit slow, even though it wasn’t busy yet. There aren’t many food options, so it’s really just a drinks place. As the night went on, the music got louder, and the space felt tight.
The speakeasy is behind an empty art gallery but the art gallery itself was light up a bit with a purple light, however, it was still kind of dark that we almost missed the door to the speakeasy. It’s an intimate speakeasy that is great to have drinks at with friends. It wasn’t super busy when I went but still highly recommend making reservations to this place. Drinks were good and the service was good too. The only downside was that it was a bit too dark to read the menu so I had to turn on my flashlight on my phone to read it. I liked the chandeliers they had and the fireplace. It was a cute speakeasy. Overall, it was a good experience.
Hidden behind an art gallery is the popular speakeasy @fig19nyc , with beautiful cocktails and the alcohol is a bit stronger than what I usually would get in other places. The setting was nice and cozy but there weren’t that many seats so many had to stand and chat. The music was very loud so it had more of a bar vibe than an usual speakeasy, and people just kind of danced and jammed by the bar.
a lot tackier and cheaper looking bar than the very cool minimal art gallery facade. service is great! hostess was lovely. drinks were ok. very expensive. would be a cool date spot except it’s so loud you have to yell at the person next to you. music was ok. the playlist is what i imagine a bar in a tv show to have.
It was very busy on a Saturday night and difficult to enjoy the speakeasy as a result, but if we had come at another time I'm sure it would have been a great experience. They played retro hits, which was fun, but there was no dancing as the room was packed, The music was too loud for conversing. As others have mentioned, the bar is behind a purple art gallery.
Edit: Revising my review after some recent bad experiences with the bouncers asking for $100 to get in while letting their friends cut the lines . Used to be one of my favorite places but feel like it has gone downhill recently. Fig 19 is the BEST. It’s a subtle speakeasy to the left of Home Sweet Home. So subtle that often times people don’t realize it’s a bar (no signage out front and the enterance room is dark) and get in line for Home Sweet Home. It’s generally quick to get in but still comfortably crowded inside. The bartenders are super nice and mix some absolutely delicious drinks. The interior is beautifully decorated, the lighting is just right, and they have a live DJ that’s always playing great music. There’s also free self-serve water. Would recommend this place times a thousand, arguably one of the best bars in NYC.
