Shout out to Aiden! Thanks for the great customer service. Great bar and vibes!
My go-to after work happy hour bar! Love it here!
Great casual bar with a good happy hour and friendly staff!
Great bar with awesome historic atmosphere.
Nice pub friendly and attentive staff, reasonable prices
One of the best places in the world! Must see! Must feel! Great people!
Great Barman...very friendly.
Great pub atmosphere and really friendly staff. The manager Leya in particular really went above and beyond for us!
My sister was drunk this weekend and the Bouncer there got water and ginger ale for her after she threw up Zamo your a king the city needs more security like this definitely recommend this place it was a fun time
Super friendly and great vibes. Solid outdoor seating. You don't need to order a lot of food
Jennifer is the absolute best, she was very attentive!
I've been coming here for so many years I think I've seen the bathrooms have 4 different configurations. It's just one of those places I keep coming back to. The only drawback is that they don't have food.
So good weekends it's crowded and people dance and sing together It's nice for birthdays etc also people choose their own songs in the jukebox and people can bring food from outside or order delivery food
Cool little spot. Dropped in for a drink before dinner. Quiet, dark, cool atmosphere. Vaccines are required! Will be back!
Found this place on the last day of our holiday and wished we had found it much sooner. Great service and atmosphere.
36 Chamberz + Knicks + reasonable prices.
Awesome spot; order in from a menu book, solid beer selection from clean taps, a good crowd & a Mets bar to boot!
i love this place! the manager leah is the absolute best and such fun music
Drinks only, no food. But a classic old-style bar with lots and lots of interesting beer choices by can/bottle and tap.
Been coming here for 12 years. Still the most fun casual bar in The Village.
Patrick and Co. are amazing- this place is an absolute gem! Highly recommend!
Great bartender in the back. Wish I could visit more often
One of the best bars in West Village. Will definitely go back.
Mary is my BFF. It’s the best place to come no matter the time of year.
12 out of 10 stars. One of my all-time fav places to go. The staff is great and the food is delicious
Went on a Thursday night and it wasn't too crowded which was great. The music doesn't blast over you when you're trying to talk and they had a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles. It was a nice find.
This is a cool bar with a neighborhood feel. I could see this being our drinking spot if we lived close. Very friendly staff. Bartender was great. Just a very relaxing spot.
Great bar. Great prices. Fun times on the weekends when this place is packed. Was visiting friends from out of town and was not disappointed. Will be sure to visit again regardless of reason for my trip.
The village tavern is probly me and my brother's favorite bar to go to in New York. It has a dive-y feel but not to dive-y We always end up making friends here, which is nice. The drinks are reasonable, and it's always a good time on the weekends.
Great spot to watch the action. Best bartenders in the city. Friendly vibe and plenty of screens. Always something good on tap. Perfect location in the heart of west village.
One of my favorite places felt like a celebrity once the Bouncer took me to the back entrance and said this is my bartender Dre he will take good care of you guys the front was overly crowded after my friends and I got our IDs scanned he suggested to takes to the back door Big shout outs to Z he's now our favorite Bouncer in the West Village and he makes great music I'm still jamming to Winners Anthem by El Jefe Zamo
Leah is the best here. Beautiful inside and out. 10/10 service. She makes this bar through and through. Love her:)
I've been there many times and loved it. John was friendly, kind & amazing
This bar is awesome please come they take care of you the tall bartender named Leah and bartender Mary are awesome I will come back threefold with family and friends
such a good time. the wait staff was excellent and they had TV's for American Football. The only thing that would have made me happier is if I had bet on the correct team and not lost my money, my dignity and that lucky rabbit foot I carry around. Good beer too
Aiden the manager was absolutely wonderful! The whole staff was very nice and hospitable. I have a foot injury at the moment and some other bars were not great about accommodating that, but every single staff member at TVT went out of their way to help me get a seat and get a drink. At the door, Devin was very friendly and kind. Also love the efficiency of the front door staff who check ID and COVID vax card. Great bar. 10/10, will come back every time I’m in the area. Thank you village tavern!
Plays good music, wasn’t shoulder to shoulder, great location, didn’t have to shout to converse. Great bar in a great part of town. Also seems like a good local spot to watch sports given the long bar and table/bench seating along the wall.
Friendly customer service, great place to be, only pop in for 1 beer ended up staying several hours and loved it, highly recommend anyone that goes near this pace should defo go in
Our go to spot was closed and we popped in for football Sunday. Amazing atmosphere. Leah (bartender) is the best and they had free pizza to boot! We have a new regular spot
Great bar just to sit & relax to enjoy a drink with lots of TV's showing sport. Despite being busy the young female bartender was efficient and polite but it was painful to watch the Guinness pouring technique 🙈🙈 Training definitely required.
Is a great bar with a great vibe! Leah made our experience even better! She was great. Highly recommend!
Tall bar lady played amazing music and recommended great beer, 100% would recommend
Awesomeness 10,000! Heart of the village This place is fun and easygoing. Diversity of people and lots of regulars mixed with new patrons. Bartenders all are great and serve me like a Queen! Mary is super fun and fantastic! Lea is an awesome bartender! Pat the manager is fantastic!
As someone who very seldom writes reviews, I unbiasedly attest that they have one of the most underrated whisk(e)y selections plus most hospitable staff. Show Leah & Co plenty of love 🔥
John is possibly the most immaculate bartender I have encountered in my 10 years in this city. No joke, he makes our night every time we come in. It’s hard coming into a city as a relatively “new” resident, and he made us feel welcome from day one. The red hair doesn’t hurt! Good bar, even better service.
Wow how have I missed this place 25 years plus living in NYC and frequenting Greenwich. The best bar, clean, great bartenders and gay clientele as well as straight. I felt welcome the moment I walked in.
The place is fantastic. Good music they have a jukebox! Sport screens all over and drinks! Good place to be. The food options are not the best but they let us bring a pizza from next door. Very good place. 👍
Good vibes. Friendly patrons. Lots of tv screens for sports.
Went here with Lexi the intern. Also think I was her with Buckley when I got #rideordie girl #
Solid bar with a good selection of beer and lots of TVs.
Very well located, me and my coworkers had a blast here
Wheelchair accessible: one step into the bar, bathrooms on the first floor.
It's a nice place, quite too crowded for my taste. The service is fast and good. The best part is the modern jukebox, download an app and you can decide which photo to put.
Nice local bar catering to a preppy crowd. If you're a UNC fan, you'll want to avoid this bar, as it is a Duke bar.
Great place to get a drink during the week, when it's desolate, otherwise good; well situated, near an abundance of food options
Ok place to grab a drink. Not a lot of personality from the crowd but happy to facilitate bartenders and lively music
Very cool bar, quiet when we went. Great drinks selection.
It's a sports bar. Not my vibe but Marii and Leya are the best.
Service was great and bar had the best bathroom I’ve ever seen in nyc but then they changed cissy strut by the meters for a stupid drake song and that’s going to be an automatic points off in my book.
Very chill bar with pretty good prices and helpful staff. We came on a Saturday afternoon and sat in a booth and drank and it was great. Nothing too special about this place but we e enjoyed it.
This is a great pub in the West Village that I visited with a bunch of friends on a pub crawl. They have a bunch of different beers on-tap and a chill atmosphere.
Very very crowded, even on a Thursday night. The music was ok, some classic hits, some classic flops. The drinks are cheap but meh sized. Honestly is a good time for maybe 30 minutes.
Your average Manhattan tavern. Regular drinks, noisy, economical, easy hangout. Nothing extraordinary. I'd give it 5 stars if it had something special about it and I will update my review if it does.
Very stereotypical sports bar, but, unlike others in the area, this one has SPACE! Not super stuffy and overwhelming during HH like most other places. A nice bar to hang out, have a conversation, and a couple of drinks.
Pretty typical pub / dive bar but nothing at all I ciudad complain about. The blackberry cider was phenomenal!
Went for a quick cocktail. Friendly bar staff, decent crowd (early Friday evening), warmly decorated for Christmas. Got a little too young college "bro" for me later in the evening though.
Average bar and a good stop along the way for a night out in the West village
Love VT but really wish they had more T-shirts! We live around the block and I buy my husband local merch every year for Christmas. I wanted to do VT this year, but I was disappointed with the limited sizes available. I checked in a few times throughout the month of December to see if they had re-stocked. Leah was very helpful and accommodating but the availability was just lacking. We love to support our local business. Need more merch!
Nice bar, very big great for watching playoff games. Awesome they have a huge book of resturants you can order food from. If you are a good patron and you tip they will reward you towards the end of the night. Met two guys David and Eddison. Great company when around the right people. The women ratio was 5-1 awesome!
Cool pub to stop by once in a while. It was super crowded when we got there but that didn’t deter us from getting drinks at the bar and seeing the games on their tvs. They don’t have a lot of drinks on tap, but the cider they had was really good. They also have a two drink minimum for credit cards.
Dive bar. Calm vibe on a Sunday afternoon. Beer was not flat.
Great little local sports bar. Lots of different games shown. cheap beer. good times
nice place but the bartender skipped all of the bluegrass classics I paid to put on the jukebox… not a lot of culture here in the west village :’/
This is a great dive bar to end a night at. But like other reviews said, not much going on here other than open space and a dive sports atmosphere. They do have Big Buck Hunter HD. and for those of you who know what that is this place probably just got another star.
Friendly spot that a lot of my friends dig but I am only sort of into. It can get crowded and you're just standing in the middle of the floor, but if you get a place to sit its a nice place to hang out. Old wood everywhere if thats your kind of atmosphere. Plus they have Buck Hunter!
It was a quiet Sunday at this overpriced restaurant in the city. The bathroom setup was unusual, but I understand. The wine tasted washed, and four shots cost $75, which I found excessive. It’s a good spot for a quick and easy meal, but expect to pay more.
Drinks were watered down
Saturday afternoon beer crawl. Have passed this quaint place several times and decided to stop in. Over-priced pints and forgettable service. Alas, the proper NYC neighborhood watering hole is a dying (if not dead) breed. Great interior but not as welcoming as it appears. There are other options in the area. Barrow's Pub to name one.
I went here for the first time last week and was definitely a little disappointed. They have a solid beer selection on tap and in can, however, I ordered the montauk watermelon ipa on tap and it came out warm and flat. No problem, still a delicious beer so I down it quick and opt for another tried and true classic- the allagash white. Again, the allagash definitely came out warm and I think this keg had also been on the tap a little while longer than it should have. After that I opted for a montauk summer ale a la can which was cold and all that jazz. The three beers ran me $26 dollars, which I wouldn't mind for the area and the craft beer but given the quality of the taps I would strongly not recommend especially for this price
Waiters are assholes. 1. They took my card without saying that there were a minimum of 20 dollars. I figured that out only when I asked where was my card and they answered I needed to pay at least 20 dollars. 2. I am French, we are known to be rude, but this is another level, this bold waiter was just so ****** rude. See u never
$21 for a pitcher of Narragansett at 4:30 on a Friday...where are the happy hour specials?
Truly over price beer. Happy hour time a lagunitas IPA $9 Are you kidding me?
Worst experience security at the front door charged my friend $100 to get in with no ID then kicked him out 20 mins later because he tripped and thought he was drunk was far from drunk but it's ok never going back 2 weeks in a row I've had a bad experience here never coming back and unless you want to get extorted by Security I advise you dont go there This owner clearly hires anyone to do security because this is far from professional Since I cant some how Respond to you I will edit this to Respond I never said we were charged a cover my friend had no ID and was charged the fact your so confident that it didn't happen says alot about you integrity but no worries my friends and myself definitely wont be coming back there
Bouncers are out of control. Incredibly violent and angry. Witnessed them harass and intimidate anyone who interact with them. The front door person was reasonable the rest were violent clowns.
Lovely bartenders! Small space with a very rowdy crowd, feels young. Bouncers on extreme, laughable power trips weirdly interested in separating drunk/over-served patrons from friends before having them removed from the bar. Totally fair to ask people who have had enough to leave, but strange and dangerous to tell their friends they are “inserting themselves into the situation” when they try to join and take care of them. Not the safest stop for the ladies.
Some one stole my cellphone 30 mins into the night.
Absolutely horrific experience. I was politely watching a game tonight and my girlfriend was accused of vaping by one of the bouncers. He immediately threatened her and then assaulted me by grabbing and carrying me out of the bar while she was attempting to close out her tab leaving a gash on my arm. Very disappointed and angry with how the staff treats their customers. I would honestly avoid at all costs. There are many bar options where the staff doesn’t assault you. He also told my girlfriend to “suck his dick” and called me a racial slur. Very sad experience…
I thought it was just me and my friends worse Experience I understand we all have bad habits and I dont judge any of my friends but friend was forced to Venmo one of the guards or he would have to leave all because of a weed pen in the Bathroom no warning just funny if you ask me Manager super cool Dre is a wonderful bartender The Irish guy is amazing. Lia has a Bad attitude if I dont feel your Service is up to par you will receive no tip and Security is all about there Money and extortion at its finest. Will only come here on a Monday or Tuesday when it has no security
Sadly, a one-star review was inescapable. Despite the wonderfully studious service offered by our particular bartender, the behavior demonstrated by not one bit two bouncers will become fodder for discussion on misogyny with friends and family. These individuals were invariably hell bent on imposing their stature and supposed authority, and consequently I will not be returning. Further to my personal decision, my friends will not be returning. Further to the decision of my friends, my work acquaintances will not be returning. Further to the decision of my work acquaintances, my family has never and will never step foot in this wretched hell scape. On a serious note, unless you are a collegiate coed or or fella that looking to engage in contrived convo, I’d advise to go elsewhere.
I LOVE NORBERT! I AM OBSESSED. <3.
ID Scanner at this overcrowded bar is broken. My 21+ gf got rejected at the door by the rudest bouncer I've ever encountered. Dude just kept insisting the ID was fake. Fire this guy and replace your scanner.
0 stars. was never yelled at like that by anyone in my adult life but was yelled at by the bartender from across the bar in front of everyone for being too slow to order a drink. if you think the bartender was being “kind” to us roll the security tape. been to hundreds of bars in the city and have never been spoken to like that in my entire life anywhere. per the reviews seems like this happens often. sad
got called a “horrible person” by the bartender because I was waiting for the rest of my group to arrive before ordering a drink. There were plenty of open tables and seats around the bar, so we weren’t “taking up space for paying customers” we were waiting to see what the rest of our group wanted to order when they arrived. Bartender proceeded to talk rudely about me to customers sitting at the bar and when I approached her I was told I need to “grow up” and I’m a “horrible person” yikes! EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNERS RESPONSE: Nothing about the way we were approached was "Kind". The bartender rushed over to our table and told us to order at the bar and if we weren't going to order anything then leave in an aggressive tone. Could've dealt with that - whatever- and then she proceeds to talk negatively about us to customers sitting at the bar, 5ft away from us where I can hear her being rude and saying nasty things about us. Your staff escalated the situation. I suggest if escalating a situation is not your goal, that staff member should probably learn to not talk badly about people who don't order fast enough for her and scream at them calling them horrible people. Pretty unfortunate that this seems to be a recurring issue that hasn't been resolved.
Unfortunately, the thin, older (probably 40s) white bartender with black hair was extremely rude. Nothing was kind about how she approached our group and continued to talk rudely about customers and rush us out. If having an attitude and telling people to leave because you think they take too long to order something is kind then we have different definitions of that word. It seems like a pattern, as many reviews state the bartenders are rude. Hope you can get this figured out.
Really disappointed by the feisty red-headed bartender - I live up the street on Leroy and used to frequent VT. My friend and I were bar hopping and she said she wanted to stop by VT since she's never been...we wanted a break from drinking, so we asked the bartender for two waters. He said, "Wait, you just want water?" We said, "Yes, can we get two waters?" Then he snapped at us, "If you're not drinking and you just want water then why are you here?" I told him that I just wanted to show my friend the place we weren't intending on staying long. And then I said, "Do we have to order alcohol?" Then he said, "You can get club sodas it's just $4"... I told him money wasn't an issue and that he's being difficult. My friend said, "Can we just get water?" He said, "No, you're being difficult." Lol is he okay? I've gotten alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at VT in the past - I've gotten water, too. If he was concerned with us using up bar space and sitting on the stools then he could have said, "bar seats are for paying customers - I'll grab you two water" but he didn't, instead he had an attitude and lacked professionalism....after much back and forth, he said "Fine. I'll get you two water, but ..." At that point we were disgusted and said forget it. In the 4 years that we've gone out in the city - we have NEVER experienced such rudeness. Mind you the bar was packed with people drinking...if you're concerned with money/tips then VT should include a 2 drink minimum bar policy or something for patrons....
Rude and unwilling to listen to genuine advice. They kicked our friends out after 15 minutes of walking into the bar despite 4/9 members getting drinks along with me keeping my tab open. The bartender (or manager or owner, he never specified) was absolutely awful. Talking badly about all of us despite us buying drinks. Not to mention he kicked our friends out with 4 minutes left in the ECF, where I likely would have purchased drinks for my friends if my preferred team won. Serious advice: if you’re so worried about rent have a head charge at the door. It makes no sense to kick out people from the bar who aren’t behaving poorly and are there to enjoy the night with their friends.
