Great team of staff. All very welcoming and engaging. Food was excellent and good value. We stopped for 3 nights and could have stayed for a few more without running out of things on the menu that we wanted to try. There is also a small specials menu alongside the regular one. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Stopping in February we were concerned that they may be cold, but this wasn't the case as they were plenty warm enough. The only small downside is that it is on a busy main road and the traffic noise can be heard in the front facing rooms. Overall though this didn't detract from our stay and we would fully recommend staying here.
The Throckmorton is a great place to visit..we called in today at lunchtime on our way back from Redditch as we hadn't been here for a while. It has been recently renovated inside and it felt very modern and cosy.. We were given a very friendly welcome and shown to our table. My wife ordered two items from the tapas menu (creamy garlic and chive mushrooms and the home fried nachos with guacamole, salsa, sour cream and cheese and a portion of homemade chips. I had a homemade double steak burger with bacon and cheese with burger sauce, dressed salad, skin on fries and a hand battered frikkle (pickle in batter). The food was excellent and lovingly presented..we certainly made the right decision calling in today as everyone was very welcoming and the food was delicious.. will certainly recommend and will deffo be returning. Thankyou Sally,Dave, and the team. (Win a meal for two no is 1250)
My first time trying breakfast at the Throckmorton what can I say ......mit was EXCEPTIONAL!!!! Best breakfast I had had in a long time! I will deffo be back beats any breakfast I've had in Redditch by far. Cooked to perfect. Many thanks. This my new go to place. It was priced at 12 pounds but was worth every penny.
Great view, nice beer on a hot Sunday afternoon. Relaxed and friendly staff. Doggie ale available.
Absolute gem of an Inn. Beautiful setting, has a lovely decked area at the back with views of the countryside. Staff are very friendly and attentive especially if you have any allergies etc. Very good sized portions of meals and desserts. There is accommodation as well.
Lovely little hotel with great staff. We booked a short stay over the weekend. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean with good beds and tea/coffee facilities. We opted for the included breakfast and it didn't disappoint 🙂 the full English breakfast was excellent, the sourdough breakfast baguette was tasty and the eggs Benedict hit the spot. Very good cappuccino, coffee and tea. The service was fantastic. Lovely location with great people.
This is certainly a gem of a pub located just outside of Studley. This is my third visit to this venue & every time it's been the same excellent service & food each time. Being somewhat of a connoisseur of the great British fish & chips I have to say their F&C are the best I have had to date. The rest of the party I was with were also impressed with l their choice off the menu. Congratulations to the chef & kitchen staff for the excellent quality of food delivered to the table. Dogs allowed, outdoor seating with a great view, great staff behind the bar this is surely one of the best British eateries I have visited ever. Well worth the visit, absolutely recommend visiting this Gem of a pub.
Stayed here whilst visiting family nearby. Very pleasant, lovely breakfast. We also had an evening meal which was very tasty. We all enjoyed it immensely.
Came in for a spot of breakfast. Milly/Millie served us. Her service was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Bit of a wait for food but it was definitley worth the wait. Breakfast could have done with some more beans to make it a bit less dry but all in all very nice and hats off to Milly/Millie for the great service.
Recently stayed and ate an evening meal at the Throckmorton for a family get together. Lovely clean and well equipped bedrooms which are good value and included a great cooked breakfast. The evening meal and service were both excellent with really helpful and efficient staff. Would thoroughly recommend.
My wife and I short break .Nice room and good service from Alice. Good breakfast . Shower small but cannot alter the footprint.road noise contant a435 busy road. On the whole not bad.
We had a good tapas lunch here. The Purity beer was excellent.
My mum and I visited the Throckmorton last night for their ‘Game Week’ and all I can is wow! The food was 10/10, the service was great and as always there was just a lovely vibe about the whole place. I had the pheasant schnitzel burger with Brie and it was heavenly! The ginger biscuit cheesecake was also exceptionally creamy with the perfect amount of ginger. I love how they offer small portions of a few of the puddings too - perfect when you’re already feeling full but would love a bite of something sweet. Will be back again soon!
We had a lovely stay in this old country hotel. The doors lock with old fashioned mechanical keys (not digital cards). The bed was huge and soft - and we had a good night sleep. The breakfast was delicious - a standard full English breakfast. We will visit again if we go to that region.
Valentine's day celebrating was perfect, thanks to an amazing wonderful meal, ambience, service, 3 course meal outstanding, along with a fab bottle Moët, meal was outstanding, starter, main dessert, truly amazing food. If you haven't visited please book you will love it ❤️ Thank you for making our day so special 💞 Rach & Steve
Called in for lunch..excellent quality food and service
Enjoyed a very enjoyable Saturday evening meal here with friends. I had the prawn chili burger which was very tasty with fries and salad, my friends all enjoyed their choices too. The service was prompt and friendly and the prices were reasonable.
Good service, great food.
Staff great, food great, lunch menu very good and reasonable value. Table, cutlery and menus all very clean. Will come again. Just one minor thing.... launching the empty bottles into your bottle waste bin behind bar is very loud and disrupting to a nice quiet lunch. Other than that excellent.
Visited for an anniversary dinner. Fantastic food at great prizes. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Well definitely be back. Great to have a high quality, independent restaurant in the area.
Meal was delicious. Had Sunday roast. Plenty of perfectly cooked meat (I had lamb- melt in the mouth) But in our party had a pink beef and pork. Plenty of vegetables.
3062 We visited the restaurant last night and had a great time. Lovely atmosphere, nice and enjoyable surroundings, great food, good offers and the staff were friendly and helpful. We look forward to coming back.
I go here fairly regularly and the menu is changed every few months. Food is available throughout the day and staff have always been friendly and helpful. There are also lunchtime and evening set menus. A good place to try if you are visiting Coughton Court as it's almost on the doorstep.
Have just had our second meal here in a week! We had a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends last weekend but if anything the meal we've just had was even better! The slow cooked brisket with roast vegetables was amazing. My husband had a pie which he said had a very generous filling and was very tasty and we both enjoyed the sticky toffee to follow. We sat outside enjoying the Countryside whilst finishing off with coffee. A fantastic place to eat! Thank you Sally, Dave and The Team 1281
I attended yesterday's Burns Supper. The food was exceptional, as expected (I've been before!) and the event itself was very enjoyable. What impressed me most, however was the young waiting staff who clearly knew what they were doing & just got on with it and with a smile & eye contact. It made the evening even more enjoyable..thank you.
Lovely place. We had drinks then B+B. Everything was clean. Massive comfortable bed. Towels and soap provided. Lovely view over fields. Fabulous cooked breakfast. Sadly I didn`t get his name but the barman on duty at 10.30 am on 13 October was so welcoming and helpful. Excellent customer service and it was all ridiculously cheap. £66 for bed and 2 excellent cooked breakfasts. In comparison the nearby Premier Inn was £75 a room not including breakfast!! Thanks a lot. Would come again. Highly recommend.
We had my mum's wake here today. The staff were fabulous even though there were many more people there than we estimated. The buffet was delicious with a special mention going to the chips. Thank you.
Sunday lunch. Fabulous food with plenty of “proper “ veggies. Hot and plentiful plates of a good English Sunday roast. Roast potatoes delicious.extra gravy no problem. Very busy so parking a bit of a squeeze. Definitely definitely recommend this place. Will be back. (Maybe make the yorkshires a “choice “ at point of ordering as none of us like ‘em and didn’t eat them so 4 wasted) ??
Really nice overnight stay. Delicious food, lovely decor in the restaurant and very friendly staff. Quite noisy rooms as the walls were paper thin but beautiful location and we'll definitely be coming back for dinner one evening.
We had a really lovely experience today at the Throckmorton for the Christmas eve breakfast. We were a large family group (15) and both the service and food was great, with everyone's needs catered for. It was well organised and a great relaxing way to start Christmas eve, so thank you so much.
I would like to thank your staff for a lovely experience coming for a meal with my family, good choice food and reasonable prices for food and drink and will recommend you.
Great outdoor area with a lovely walk with your dog. Haven't eaten here but will update the review when I do.
Had a lovely meal there recently so booked a Sunday lunch for a special birthday celebration and it was not the best. It really was very underwhelming. They stick a humongous Yorkshire pud on it for a wow effect but really not that good. Very disappointing 😔
Fantastic shower, breakfast and room just a shame about the girls lack lustre welcoming once were noticed after nearly 5mins otherwise wise been a full house, the chap looking after us the following day at breakfast saved the whole experience so full marks to him
Food was good, but the last twice we visited, service could have been more attentive. We needed to wait or signal for service when staff were just chatting at the bar. Initial welcome was good though.
Great value for money. Good pub food, clean rooms and friendly staff.
Quick and easy check-in. Very pleasant staff explained all we needed to know. Room a little on the small side but spotless and nicely decorated. The evening meal where we chose the fish Friday option was lovely. Huge portions and very good value. We are here for 2 nights.
This is a very beautiful pub, with great countryside veiws, when sitting outside on the patio. Inside is nicely decorated too. The service was amazing, from the table staff, the bar staff too the glass collectors. The food was delicious. The prawn and calamari stater were amazing. My Only complaint would be the small portion size. The main course of a traditional Sunday roast was also very nice, with plenty of fresh steamed veg, and a large yorkshire pudding. Also, there is a good selection of draft and bottled beers. And soft drinks. We had a great late afternoon Sunday meal. Thank you.
We visit the Throck often and always receive high standards...food and service... however.... Sunday evening 11th Jan did not live up to normal. Table booked for 4pm for 2.. arrived... no one came forward to where you're asked to stand and wait ! despite 4 staff at the bar... one pouring a drink one stacking tonics on a shelf.. 2 milling around. We went to the bar and everyone just carried on leaving us stood there!! Eventually after minutes the girl serving the drink spoke to us ..the shelf filler carried on until the box was empty!! We commented to each other that the place was overstaffed as there was only us and pending table for 10.. so 4 plus staff ...there were others there!! who appeared to be ignoring us. The service at the table was not too bad although I had to ask 3 times where a 2nd glass of wine was and had nearly finished my dinner by the time it arrived !!! Needless to say the 10% service charge was deducted on this occasion! I don't normally leave feedback because I don't need to.. the regularity of my visits is feedback... but on this occasion 😖 🤷♀️ if you don't know you can't put it right... I hope you do 🤞
Not so 'full' English. The breakfast menu no longer seemingly offers the 'bigger' breakfast option (despite the website menu saying otherwise) and instead offer an extremely underwhelming 'full' English option. Pricing also not included on the menu is certainly a choice decision. Best of luck with the new look Throckmorton!
Have visited a number of times and main meals have always been of a high standard and staff friendly and attentive, on this occasion I had a dessert the lemon and lime tart and was bitterly disappointed as was just a flat tasteless piece of pastry and not cheap either. To be fair the desserts others had looked far better but those I was with didn't want me to complain about mine. Would return but the tart needs improvement
Nice pub, can't complain at beer garden in summer which is lovely. But this is more directed at the breakfast and food offering, initially great but over the course of a few visits felt that some improvements needed. Sorry to say but appararance of some of the waiters needs to improve, cleanliness is an absolute must in serving/preparing food and things like hair should be tied back. Very off putting. Sadly has put us off revisiting in a hurry for breakfast/food.
Went here for first time. The food was OK and nice location esp sat out the back over looking the farm land We had ploughmans and the gammon. The ploughmans came with 2 pieces of sausage roll (no pork pie), couple slices of ham thatv was quite fatty, no chutney pickle, and only 1 piece of cheese which is a bit different for a ploughmans and not what we was expecting. The gammon was pretty standard coming with a few chips, a fried egg and a small slice of fresh pineapple What lets it down is the price. The portions weren't that big but its on the pricey side with the gammon being £19. A pint of cider was £6.20 which is a good £1.70 more than everywhere else.. £4.20 for pint of coke was also unexpected! They then put 10% service charge on without asking if you even want to tip (and for a pub is not the morm) In summary, nothing really wrong with the pub, staff or food but the prices are on the high side which will prevent us going back as not value for money hence the 3 stars. if portions were bigger then it could be justified but not at present.
Popped in for a meal and a couple of pints. The first pint of real ale was "off" but readily changed. Fish pie and chicken and ham pie were nice. Hotel prices so meal and drinks were high price for pub grub and beer. Nice location just outside Alcester
Average experience the food wasn’t and didn’t tase the best. We provided our order before arriving at the restaurant so they possibly cooked it a little too quick and attempted to keep the meals warm. Not overly impressed.
The staff were lovely, very polite, and attentive. But the food was poor. Started with the calamari which was nothing special. They tried to make it fancy by laying them on a pool of garlic mayonnaise and chilli flakes, but it missed the mark. I had the beef bourguignon. Poor quality tasteless meat, possibly microwaved and tough as old boots. The mash potato (lots of it to fill out the dish) had a sweetness and texture that made me think it was Smash. The veg was okay, just standard boiled veg, but ruined by the rest of the dish. My wife had the lamb. Same amounts of mash, poor quality meat that could have been anything. Needed the mint sauce to add some flavour to the dish. I ended with the popcorn creme brulee. Topped with stale popcorn it was probably the best part of the meal. My wife had the brownie which looked like a microwave pudding from Tesco. Tasted like it too. Seemed very expensive for food quality that was similar to a microwave meal. Wondered what this place was like for years driving past it. Now I know, I won't be going back.
We didn’t stay so can’t comment on the rooms but the food was fine. Large portions and tasty. The decor was mediocre and atmosphere non existent. Convenient for visiting Coughton court. Staff were friendly.
I have just come back from The Throckmorton for a Father's Day meal, and it was truly awful... I have been there on many occasions and has been good but not amazing. This was at 5 o'clock and I asked is the beef pink and I was told it wasn't but still nice, so I decided to have that, I wish I didn't, I had a piece of the meat and it was inedible so I left it and complained about it, NO REFUND. My wife's was not that much better with very dry lamb. My daughter in laws desert was horrible and said the chocolate mousse was very grainy. I will never return there and go down the road to The Boot for beautiful food. 0/10
Large bed in tiny room, was squeezing down the side of the bed! Bathroom so small that you’re under the basin when sitting on the toilet. No full length mirror, a dirty staircase up to the scruffy rooms. Entrance door right next to the bins and broken glass all over the ground. Thinnest duvet I’ve ever seen. A low class guest house. The staff were dirty and scruffy. Also on a very busy, noisy road. We didn’t risk eating any of the food including breakfast as everything was so dirty.
A group of us visited today (2 June 2024), we found the staff to be quite rude, drinks were outrageously expensive, we were asked to move tables from what was a 'dining only' area to a non dining area, even though there was hardly anyone eating (I'm not surprised at their prices!). Not very friendly, not impressed, won't be returning.
