Enjoyed the patio on a beautiful day and ordered the mimosa flight, Bloody Mary, chilaquiles, and steak & eggs (medium rare) with my husband. Everything was delicious — truly a 10/10 brunch experience! Our server, Shawn, was very prompt and attentive. We’ll definitely be returning!
Was greeted by one of the owners as soon as we walked in! I will say I showed up 30 minutes before closing and asked if I was too late. He told me not at all and proceeded to accommodate me the rest of the night like nowhere else! Great guy who truly cares about his establishment! Not to mention his great employees! I believe Jess was our waitress and she was amazing! Can’t say enough good things about my experience! Food was off the charts as well! 10 out of 10
My wife and I tried Sugar Bacon for brunch on January 18. I had the avocado toast and my wife had the shrimp and grits. We also had espresso martinis and sangria. All were excellent! Thanks to Mallory for her superb service. We will be back soon! -Bart and Kelsey Smith
Great place. The food was fantastic. The service was a bit odd, we had like 3-4 people besides our server wait on us, at one point forgot which was my server. The service was excellent, but I did not know who to flag down if I needed. The atmosphere was o.k., I felt like the rushed to open the restaurant so the decor may have suffered a bit. But it is nice. Overall I look forward to my next visit.
Came in on a Sunday evening for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and clean. The food was amazing, warm, fresh and absolutely delicious. The crab cake and roasted chicken were my favorite. Also the lobster Mac was creamy and not oily which I loved. The service was fast and she was very knowledgeable on the menu, also attentive. Will definitely be back for brunch.
Great restaurant! Lots of options on the menu, but the steak is absolutely amazing. It is so flavorful and well seasoned, love the sauces with it too. Deviled egg app is fantastic too, just the right amount of texture variation with the bacon crumbles.
I came here for dinner last night and then brunch this morning and had an incredible time on both meals. Got to meet and be helped by Daniel, incredibly personable and very attentive. Got the ribeye tacos and a wedge salad for dinner and then the yogurt parfait and potatoes and some eggs over medium and they were some of the best eggs I’ve had at a brunch spot in along time! Incredible service and atmosphere, I didn’t catch his name but the manager was also very personable and attentive.
We are frequent visitors of Sugar Bacon. Every dish we have tried is amazing. The Proper Burger is the best burger I've ever had and the filet literally melts in your mouth. The General Manager, Larry, is always present and takes time to greet and talk with every guest he sees. The restaurant has a great mellow vibe and the staff is super friendly. We usually sit at the bar. The head bartender, Daniel, is always friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgeable and makes excellent recommendations. He also makes the best Old Fashioned in Texas!
Amazing food, service, atmosphere. The ribeye steak and southern linguine were both incredibly flavorful, and came out relatively fast. Hosts and server were polite and on top of things; it was busy when we walked in but we were seated almost immediately. As for the atmosphere, the establishment is aesthetically pleasing to be within. And please order the banana cake dessert. It is so worth it.
From the moment we pulled up, Sugarbacon had a vibe. The lighting, the setup, and the dry-aged meat display at the front let us know we were in for something solid. Inside, the energy was warm and laid-back. It’s the kind of place that knows it’s good but doesn’t have to brag. The neon sign over the open kitchen, the booths, and the lighting all worked together perfectly. Let’s talk food. We went in hungry and left impressed. The Tomahawk Ribeye board was a beast in the best way. It was perfectly cooked, sliced, and served with a lineup of sauces that took it over the top. The Brussels sprouts were crispy with just the right tang. The meatballs over grits brought comfort food to a whole new level. The pan-seared fish was clean, flaky, and paired with mashed potatoes that didn’t need any help. Dessert came out with candles, and I appreciated the anniversary love. It was a thick chocolate cake topped with fresh strawberries and custard. Rich but not overly sweet. Shoutout to our server Tony. He was professional, personable, and made the whole experience better. Never had to ask twice for anything, and his timing was perfect. And here’s the kicker. The GM, Larry, came over to check in on us. We had a great conversation, tossed out a few ideas, and joked that we’d be back in a couple of weeks to see if he puts us on payroll. He laughed, but we’ll see. All around, this place delivered. It’s got the kind of energy and food that makes you want to come back before you even leave the parking lot
We had a great experience! The quality of the food was outstanding—from the perfectly cooked steak to the flavorful sides and the delicious dessert. What truly made the visit memorable, though, was the exceptional service provided by Lindsey. It wasn’t your typical waiter interaction; she was attentive, proactive, and genuinely warm. Her frequent check-ins and sincere smile made us feel truly welcome and at ease. Kudos to Lindsey for elevating the entire experience. Definitely a place we’ll remember and return to!
It’s been probably 10+ years since we were back at Sugarbacon and I wish we would have gone back sooner. We decided to stop for happy hour since we were up in McKinney and we are so glad we did. Who can beat a $4 old fashioned and $5 appetizers! Daniel, the bartender was very attentive and engaging and the manager even stopped by to say hello. A great place to enjoy happy hour 4-6pm or dinner. We will be returning again soon.
Went to Sugar Bacon tonight with friends. Was told about their happy hour. It was AMAZING!!!!! Crab cakes, fried tomatoes, meatballs, deviled eggs, pork belly, sugar bacon. Plus great drink specials! We enjoyed it all, Lucas was a great server bar tender and we enjoyed Hank who was very kind and social with us! Will definitely be back!
We had a fantastic experience at Sugarbacon! Our server, Marissa, was incredibly pleasant and kind, making our visit even more enjoyable. We started with the Ménage à Pork appetizer, which was delicious and generously portioned. For our entrées, the chicken sandwich and fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes were both perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My wife had the risotto and scallops, which were expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. Every dish was well-portioned and thoughtfully crafted. We’ll definitely be back for another great meal!
Had a pleasant day. Brunch menu up for grabs. Our waiter Sean was a delight 😊. We were hopeful than to get more than just Brunch, but satisfied with the 2 things ordered. Cozy place. Limited noise, but inviting for date night. 2nd time here. Great for couples to just get away. Thank you Sean for making the visit and Brunch a pleasant one. 🎊
Came for Valentine’s Day and they overcharge you by only offering a Valentine’s Day menu. Pretty expensive for the food quality. I got charged more for a regular martini than an espresso martini, like bruh how does that happen? Other than that the place is pretty solid.
10.28.2025- Came back a month later to give it a try. Was much better! Hank was great! Ate way too much! Pictures dated below with 10.28. ALSO, they played a variety of music AND had little lamps on the table! SO much better! Increased the star rating! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ September 2025- Came here for the first time for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Not super busy. It is SO dimly lit, couldn’t read the menu, major glare from the entrance. If you don’t like country music, you will not enjoy it, only country music playing the whole time. Mallory was our waitress. Extremely sweet. Food was good. The breakfast tacos were delicious! Misread, because we couldn’t see the menu, that the chicken sandwich had an egg on it. Didn’t care for that. The first booth by the entrance has all the extra plates, glasses, and silverware right in the ledge where you sit. Super uncomfortable each time they grabbed stuff to put on the tables.
I've been here for dinner (amazing) and brunch (disappointing). Highly recommend this as a dinner spot. It is located in historic downtown McKinney so be aware parking can take extra time. For brunch, I had the steak and eggs with coffee. The steak was good, the eggs were cold and the breakfast potatoes were mediocre. The coffee didn't come out very hot but had good flavor.
Went on a Sunday and was given a full menu, went to order and was told that only the brunch menu was being served. We drove almost 2 hours to come try the restaurant so we were disappointed. The purple haze was pretty cool with the lavender smoke. $16 was a bit pricey but it was a neat experience. Our cocktails took quite a bit of time, almost 15 minutes. Lastly, their menu has no description of what the meal includes so when we ordered the French toast it had a lot of fruit and cream, which was lovely but would be a concern for someone with allergies. Plus, we asked for no pickles on our spicy chicken sandwich, pickles were on it and there wasn't any flavor to the sandwich.
Ordered the sugarbacon, grilled cheese, and the steak and eggs. The sugarbacon was very tasty. I really liked the peach sambal. The grilled cheese sandwich was ok. The fries were breaded. They are not my favorite style of fries. The steak and eggs were not great at all. I ordered over easy, and half the yolk was overdone. The potatoes were good. The problem was the steak. I ordered medium. The steak came out rare to medium rare. It was tough, too. I had a hard time cutting my steak and a harder time chewing it. I also do not like being asked to cut my steak to check for temperature. I will say that their customer service is great. The manager quickly apologized for the low quality steak and did not charge me for it. In fact, he felt so bad about the experience he comped the entire meal, even though I asked him not to. The waitress was good, and we made sure to tip her properly. I did like the look and atmosphere of the place. The tables and menus were a bit sticky, though.
Service was horrible and slow on a Sunday. There were plenty of tables available, but he decided to clean a booth. The seats were wet and table still had small lettuce leftovers. It took about 10 minutes for him to come back AFTER seating us to ask what we’d like to eat. In my opinion, it didn’t look busy at all and if it was there was plenty of staff. We had to ask for the check 2 times as well. The food did not meet my expectations. I got a proper burger. They cook my meat more than I had asked which made it dry and hard to eat. I’ve been here before and it was amazing. This recent experience was not it and I will not be back.
The waiter was rude, unhelpful, and abrasive. On top of that, the special "Valentines Menu" was the only thing we could order from, then were out of half of the items on it. The food was not great, and not as described. We left paying entirely too much for a very subpar experience. Very very disappointed and would not recommended to anyone.
