Felt like I was at home. The food was amazing. All the staff are hospitable and treat you like you matter. Unlike some breakfast spots where the waiters and waitresses won't give you the time of day since you aren't in their work area. Will definitely be coming back.

Some of the best pancakes I've had, excellent biscuits and gravy as well. Prices are very good and cheap, portions are generous. Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior, they're definitely my favorite place to stop for breakfast in north OC.

The breakfast at this restaurant is scrumptious. I got the French Toast Combo and was not disappointed. The combo cost around $10 and my boyfriend got the Hawaiian sausage meal for only $9.95. Therefore, the price is all right with me. I'm definitely gonna go back to this place and try the other meals.

A hidden gem. When I first came to this strip mall, I was skeptical with the location. I was blown away by the friendly staff and how amazing the food tastes. Many of the customers are regulars and I can see why….good old country cooking. Prices are great. I wish I lived in the area which would be a regular visit for our family. Here are my fav Chilaquiles—-one of the better ones I’ve tasted besides my homemade ones at home The pancakes——oh wow! The texture of it is so good! Portuguese sausage—-a must add on to your breakfast. Corn-beef hash—-tasty but portions are too big for me .

Took my mom out to breakfast for Mother’s Day, we were a party of 5. Yes the place was packed BUT we had great, timely and friendly service. You pay for what you get. Great homestyle cooking!!! By the time we got there and put our name in, to the time we left, we were there for maybe an hour and a half. Highly recommended and will go back again! Loved supporting this tiny little restaurant.

After spending a day at the Knott's, and a good night's sleep, all we wanted was a good hearty breakfast. This place did not disappoint at all. Such great service, Bruce made sure that my coffee cup was always filled quickly and the food was not only delicious, the helpings were extremely generous. My kiddo opted for the pancake breakfast that came with 2 huge chocolate chip pancakes, 2 eggs & 2 pieces of bacon... The cakes came with hot maple syrup, which is always a plus. This breakfast got two thumbs up from my lil big guy & he referred to the pancakes as "heaven in the mouth". I had an Ortega & Cheddar Cheese Omelette, home fries & toast... So yummy, and I even ate most of my potatoes, which is rare... But they were just so good! Next time we are in Orange County, we will be visiting the Sunrise Cafe for sure!

We yelped this place before spending the day at Knotts berry farm and were happy to see they opened early. We got there around 8am and it was already starting to get busy as we sat down. I had the Waffle combo which was a good size portion that came with the one belgian waffle, 2 eggs any style, and bacon for under $10. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito which was huge and came with potatoes on the side.

The breakfast here is delicious. The food is reasonably priced and the staff is very friendly. I will definitely visit this restaurant again. It's a very nice Mom and Pop type of restaurant with some beautiful artwork. I had French toast with bananas, bacon, and eggs.

Great little breakfast place with good food and service! Never ran out of water. Best omelet I've had in a good while for the price--it included home fries and toast, which was way too much food for me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and just took a box to go.

We got vegan scramble with soyrizo! We very much appreciate the service, and the accommodations that meet our needs. We sat outside, and our waitress warned us that since she could not see us too well from inside she might not attend our needs as frequently. We did not need much attention, we had everything we needed, and the service was fine.

Honestly, everything was great! The server was attentive and friendly even though it was slightly busy. The food was really good, too! And the place was clean and even with the busyness, it wasn't loud. There is free wifi and restrooms available. I ordered the corn beef and hash with potatoes, OE eggs and wheat bread. Soo full! And it was quite scrumptious. My dad had the popeye omelette and my bro had a breakfast burrito. They both said they enjoyed their too. We travelled here and looked for brunch then found it. Very local style. The turkey sandwich was ordinary. It’s tasted was what you could imagine. But the sandwich toasted well. It served with French fries, potato salad, green salad, fried zucchini, or soup. As for the scrambler, it was a good opener for a morning because it contained good protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates. If not interested in brown rice, could choose happy carbohydrates—home fries which was really good. The scrambler was also served with toast/ biscuits with gravy. That made us really full. While the biscuit was not my cup of tea especially the gravy. The others, the omelette with home fries, was very tasty. Next time I would order it without any doubt. It was a good restaurant with friendly service.

Great stop for breakfast. Coffee was delicious. I ordered the French toast hash browns and eggs. They got stuffed waffles with savory ingredients, which is pretty "strange". It was also not too expensive for a lot of food. Ps, definitely get the 1.99 ham steak

Truly enjoyed this little cafe. From the moment we entered the door, everyone was so kind and when our little one got wild, instead of getting frustrated, they encouraged him to roam. Grateful for the staff who treated us so well. The food was so delicious and coffee on point. Highly recommend.

Stopped here on the way home from Great Wolf Lodge with my family. This is newly opened and you can tell that they care about the vibe and the people. We were able to meet the aowner Hector which felt like a special touch! Black coffee was excellent and the French toast is a MUST! The music is so smooth and vibey. They are so personable and welcoming. Definitely stop in if you have a chance. Food and drinks are great.

Second time here and I am a fan! Staff member Stacey was very prompt with service and I never felt I had to wait for anything; she was on it! Food wise, no complaints! They have the sauces I like and the menu offers a lot of variety. I keep wanting to come back to try something else, so I will return!

Coffee is phenomenal. Top tier! Chilaquiles were so delicious but way too expensive. Eggs aren’t included in the price which isn’t normal. Would have liked some avocado and more pickled onions at this price but it was delicious.

I went into Strange Cafe expecting a coffee shop, but what I found inside was so much more! Strange Cafe is a full blown diner with great coffee, food, and atmosphere. I ordered a double Tejano Smashie (pictured) and a cappuccino. The burger had a great balance of heat, texture, and a lingering umami that I still can't forget as I write this. The cappuccino was brewed with beans locally roasted today or yesterday (Hector told me the details, but i forgot 😭). Either way, the quality of the beans really came through! Their Cafe de Olla was great too, and it's hard to find in the area! Staff was very friendly and I will be coming back for sure :)

Strange Brews Café in Buena Park has only been open a short time but it already feels like a reliable breakfast spot. The menu is simple but thoughtful and there is a nice balance between comfort food and creativity without going over the top. They recently added seasonal coffees and they are all solid. We tried the Dirty Olla, Cinnamon Kiss, and Golden Hour Crush. You can switch in oat or almond milk and although the drinks are a little sweet, they taste like fall in the best way. The Pesadito Burrito with ranchera steak was the highlight for us. The steak was flavorful and the whole burrito felt well put together. The Morning Melt Stuffed Waffles were a fun choice if you like a mix of salty and sweet. Nico’s AM Smashie is a good option if you want something simple and familiar. The café itself has a warm, friendly vibe and the service makes you feel welcome to stay awhile. It feels like a place you can come back to without thinking about it too hard. I’m already looking forward to trying more of their drinks and breakfast items. Great spot for anyone in the area - it’s cuspy Buena Park, La Palma, in Cypress.

I have to say, the soy chorizo omelette with serrano chillies, onions, American cheese, and avocado was the best!!! I also had hash browns and the honey almond milk latte; oh my goodness... I usually eat vegan but it was a special day with friends and what can I say: IT WAS WORTH EVERY BITE!!! The sourdough was covered in butter and it was heavenly and the devil itself at the same time!!! Iykyk 😎😉😘 Service was impeccable. Will return.

The food was very delicious! Everything was tasty just like a homemade meal my kids love what they ordered. Hector a very nice guy suggested the Cafe de olla, man that was awesome it hit the spot. Overall we love the atmosphere and like a mentioned food is just like eating home,at the end we where happy for this visit, a definitely recommend it . We will visit again in the future if we get the chance!

Coffee is phenomenal. Top tier! Chilaquiles were so delicious but way too expensive. Eggs aren’t included in the price which isn’t normal. Would have liked some avocado and more pickled onions at this price but it was delicious.

Second time here and I am a fan! Staff member Stacey was very prompt with service and I never felt I had to wait for anything; she was on it! Food wise, no complaints! They have the sauces I like and the menu offers a lot of variety. I keep wanting to come back to try something else, so I will return!

Strange Brews Café in Buena Park has only been open a short time but it already feels like a reliable breakfast spot. The menu is simple but thoughtful and there is a nice balance between comfort food and creativity without going over the top. They recently added seasonal coffees and they are all solid. We tried the Dirty Olla, Cinnamon Kiss, and Golden Hour Crush. You can switch in oat or almond milk and although the drinks are a little sweet, they taste like fall in the best way. The Pesadito Burrito with ranchera steak was the highlight for us. The steak was flavorful and the whole burrito felt well put together. The Morning Melt Stuffed Waffles were a fun choice if you like a mix of salty and sweet. Nico’s AM Smashie is a good option if you want something simple and familiar. The café itself has a warm, friendly vibe and the service makes you feel welcome to stay awhile. It feels like a place you can come back to without thinking about it too hard. I’m already looking forward to trying more of their drinks and breakfast items. Great spot for anyone in the area - it’s cuspy Buena Park, La Palma, in Cypress.

Strange Café has such a great vibe — the music, atmosphere, and overall energy make it the perfect place to relax or hang out with friends. The food was amazing and came out fresh, and the service was genuinely friendly and attentive. You can tell they care about the little details here. Friendly service and fast! Breakfast was at our table in what seemed like just a few minutes. The food was delicious, and my wife loved the homemade strawberry jam for her toast. Loved the music and the puzzle, too! We were hoping for a place that was priced below the big breakfast places like IHOP, Black Bear, or Broken Yolk so that we could go regularly, but the prices were up there in the $15-$16 range. I don't blame them, though. They're trying to make a living. It's just hard to make it a weekly thing at $80-$90 for four people.

Food was prepared well. Service was great, very friendly. Wait for food was just a tiny bit long, but not too bad. Portion size was plenty. Bathroom adequate. Establishment does not look like much from its outside appearance in a small strip mall setting, but interior decor was cute. Overall, very good experience.

Stumbled on this hidden gem.. Food was delish, staff was great. The portions a huge here for a reasonable price. I ordered the Hobo omelette which had bell pepper, onions, mushrooms, sausage, ham and cheese and hash browns on the side. Which also came with a side of biscuits and gravy.. My boyfriend ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich. He said it had great flavor and it was huge and u have a choice of soup or French fries. All together spent about $30 including our refills on coffee. Definitely will come back. Like I said food was great..

This place has pretty decent diner food. It is very consistent in taste. We got the California Snubs, Vegetarian Mix, and Banana Chocolate Pancakes. The service is a little slow on weekends, but understandably so.

The food is always good and the portion sizes are huge and inexpensive. The last time I was here though, the biscuits and gravy was missing something. They didn't taste as flavorful as usual. Still a solid choice if you're in the area.

Stopped by for breakfast with my oldest daughter. If you didn't know this place was here, you might drive right by. Pleasant surprise for sure. The restaurant was nice and clean, staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast was great. Highly recommend this place. I will be returning (even though I live roughly 40 miles away).

Cozy spot. They had me at homemade strawberry jam and salsa! I tried the ABC omelette with home fries. It was decent. When I came, it was quiet. Service was great.

Quaint little cafe. Went a little after noon. Only a few people in there. Our table ordered the Biscuit and Gravy with home fries and the Waffle Combo, both with two eggs over easy and two sausage links each. The gravy for the biscuit want great and we lived to the side. Everything else tasted good.

Three stars is really being nice I was debating for half of this review to put two stars. Yea I get if you get busy but I could barely get a drink order in without her starting to walk away she was so distracted or out of it I have no clue I think she wasn't trained to be a waitress I couldn't get my food order on without her walking away before I was done because I paused for a second. The eggs Benedict was horrid there was so much spinach and it wasn't even made correctly its supposed to be English muffin Canadian bacon spinach eggs Hollandaise sauce and you get to CHOOSE whether you want spinach or Canadian bacon like the customer can just say whether or not they want something taken off of their order not have to choose between the ingredients on their order there was probably like more spinach than there was English muffin the English muffin was soggy and not toasted everything was very bland there was again a bunch of spinach and I love spinach but I don't know what was wrong with it it did not taste good the only reason I even came to this restaurant is because my normal one wasn't even available and I review many restaurants many of them I barely even wanted to walk into this one my friend came in with me oh they got their order right oh and also I had a hard time with the waitress right but with every other customer she was perfectly fine with them but for some reason she had a problem with me because she wanted to get away from that table so quick I shouldn't have even left a tip but I only do because that's how I was raised my silverware tasted like dishwashers I was trying to eat and everything was so bland there was barely enough hollandaise sauce to cover the eggs and it was crunchy on the top layer and chunky never coming back honestly the bacon also tasted like everything else that was cooked on the grill. Also again I understand it takes a bit I've worked in a restaurant too but that doesn't mean you ignore your customers needs to hop around each table people understand that it takes a bit so use the understanding to actually be good at service

I don't know if I ordered the wrong thing, but nothing about the $17 breakfast was special at all. It was overpriced & quite bland. I didn't hate it. I just like flavourful food! I'm disappointed I gave this place a chance.

I went there at about 7:20am right after they opened. It was a Saturday morning and only one couple in there eating. So they weren't busy at all yet only one waiter working. Not the point. However, for my dad and I, for two pancake meals with a cup of milk and "upgrade" to blueberry pancakes it cost $60! I guess my main complaint is that they charge $5 just to throw some blueberries in the pancakes mix. Dennys only charges $3, but still. The point is that between that upcharge for each of us and $4 for each cup of milk, and $4 for coffee, it was $60. Just seems like an outrageous price to pay for a breakfast that was a lower quality then IHOP.

Apparently, the new owners have changed a few things on the menu. I have been going to this café for almost 7 years. My family and I totally enjoy the potatoes . This week, they changed it to hashbrowns. They also have changed the volume of meat for breakfast. You get half as much as you did before -but they did lower the price a little bit. They also do not serve lunch anymore. There are no sandwiches there are no salads, etc. they basically serve breakfast only . I was really surprised when I went there this morning to see all the changes. They have also taken the menus off the table and they have moved around some things near the front counter. It does not exist anymore.

The food was good but there was only one waiter who was doing everything and that took longer, she was attending calls, prepping orders to go, she was also a cashier. They need more personnel. But the food was ok.

Its ok. Not great or spectacular, not horrible either. Customer service was excellent, food was decent (again not horrible or great) prices were fair. They did take a while for the food to come out. Its not very decorative in the "strange" aspect. Overall, i would probably search elsewhere. This place doesn't have the "wow" factor.

Food quality was servicable but not worth leaving home for. The space is cramped and noisy, and overall I personally would not visit again.

heard about this place on instagram when they followed me. i went on a very busy day and ordered a burger not knowing that they wouldn’t start on my order until 30 minutes after i placed it because it was breakfast time. i got my money back and decided to come back again a week or two later because i was excited to try the burger and the atmosphere was cool. they weren’t busy at all and maybe only had about 2 tables seated. i asked for my burger with onions on the side and to go. the girls even asked again a couple times while i was sitting and waiting that i wanted the onions on the side. i got my food in a within 10 minutes not bad at all and the girls were nice. when i got in the car the burger had onions on them. i didn’t even complain i’m annoyed that i haven’t had a good experience at this place but the burger and fries were good. just sucks that people can’t just prepare the food the way it was ordered as. :(

Strange Cafe changed its name, menu, and staff in February of this year, but kept all of the hundreds of reviews from the previous diner, Sunrise Cafe. I came thinking it was the same diner with a new name, but I was wrong, their menu’s completely different now. We got the smashburger and ribeye. My friend’s smashburger was good, he had no complaints. My ribeye dish was mid, the hash browns were really mushy, like mashed potatoes. Our server was nice but inattentive, we had to ask for our own drink refills, even though he saw my glass was empty for a while. The manager/owner came up to us check on us and to bring us the bill. After we paid and left, our server chased us outside asking if we paid, which is pretty embarrassing/unprofessional. I think you guys need to improve your staff communication and hash browns so something like that doesn’t happen to your future customers. The whole experience was strange (pun intended). Unfortunately we won’t be coming back.

we went there a few times very profiling, and we were watched the whole time! As a Foreigner avoid this Place like the Plague! Minus 5 Stars! Well for a mom-and-Pop Restaurant you even expect a better Service and should feel like a Family Member invited for paid Food and Service! What a purr and dumb excuse!

Never never order pancakes here. Literal rubber couldnt even cut. Smelled like raw flour and baking soda. Biscuits gravy were good. Server lovely. I really have never had such horrible pancakes for 15.00 . i will say the place is clean but very musty mold smell.

The service was friendly and excellent. Coffee was great & tasty. The pork patties covered in gravy were way under-cooked. Almost raw. My wife had avocado toast which was bland & the tomatoes were almost paper thin & looked old. I personally hate to give a bad review. Hope this leads to improvement.

Overpriced low effort food! It looked like my 13 year old nephew made the food. Very bland and basic eggs bacon and tater tots. Wouldn’t eat here again even if it was free. Coffee was basic nothing special. I will say customer service was the best part. Kudos to the front desk workers.
