Wow... Our new favorite Greek restaurant. We wanted to try everything on the menu! So fresh and delicious. Everything came out hot and beautifully prepared and presented. Homemade leek pie to die for! Sea bass grilled to perfection. Grilled feta tomatoes and peppers layered! OMG! Outstanding horta, great table wine, on a heated glass enclosed outside space. The most helpful and attentive happy smiling staff. Complementary dessert. I wanted to try the house special lamb stew, but there was just too much food!!! Oh well... Next time... Run, don't walk to Agnanti!!!
Delicious food! Everything we ordered was very tasty. I highly recommend the grilled octopus and branzino. The portions are quite large and very reasonably priced. The dip platter came with fresh pita bread. We even got a complimentary Greek yogurt, dessert at the very end. Great service .
My favorite restaurant! I drive 3 hours just to eat at Agnanti. The atmosphere is super cozy and simple. The service is always excellent from the moment you come in. Now the food is the best. The ingredients are top notch, everything I ate here is exceptional. The best part is that their prices are more than reasonable. I have been to Greece and this place takes me back every time.
You ever dream on eating on a cloud , this is where you should eat if so. I wish I could keep this place to myself but the service was unmatched they are gentle caring and patient, this is something you just want to keep to yourself forever but how else everyone is able to experience the delicate way food is served. May not have table setting worth presentations on 100% , but I swear they make every bite worth it.
We’ve been several times and each was special. The staff works very hard to ensure that your experience is exceptional. From the moment you arrive, you’ll recognize that you’re at one of those “secret” places that people in the neighborhood have been trying to keep the rest of us from finding. The house wine is great and served in a beautiful carafe. Our table has always enjoyed the spreads. The fish options have also never disappointed. You just simply can’t go wrong. Be warned - you may need to wait for a table and they don’t take reservations.
This was my first time trying authentic Greek food, and I'm so happy we came here. We were recommended the pastitzio and ordered the Mustaka, both were incredibly delicious. The gentleman who served us was humour and polite, we sat outside and were very comfortable. For anyone just visiting and looking for a place to try, come here! Astoria park is right across the street so you can enjoy some beautiful scenery following your meal. The dessert is free and will give your tastebuds an orgasm, so save room. 😁
I have been coming here faithfully for years and even when I left NYC, I would come here every time when I am in the area because this place truly never disappoint! The service is amazing thanks to their dedicated staff. The food is phenomenal! The octopus, calamari, salads entrees and desserts as well as wine is a must. This place is just WOW! Thank you guys for your service! I can’t wait to visit this place again!
I was introduced to this place by an ex. Now I recommend it to everyone I know. The food was so fresh and authentic, it was memorable. The Greek salad here is the best I’ve ever had.
The food was delicious. There is a nice atmosphere here. The service was fast and attentive.
First time visiting Agnanti and not the last time. We were so engrossed in the dishes that we forgot to take pictures. We started with spanakopita, grape leaves, dolmades yialantzi, pandora feta, tzatziki, pita bread and then lamb chops and salmon with the chateau Juliet. Amazing food and service. Edited. We told server at the end it was my daughter’s birthday and they came with more pastries and sang happy birthday. They also brought us Greek yogurt with honey.
Amazing Greek restaurant! The food was absolutely phenomenal — fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Every dish tasted homemade and full of love. Friendly service and warm atmosphere made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
So good!!! This was my first visit to Astoria and this place really knocked it out of the park. My boyfriend is 100% greek and has a tough time finding good greek restaurants. His family recommends this place and he really enjoyed it when we went this weekend. We made a reservation and went around 4pm and had no trouble parking or sitting.
I choose this restaurants among many greek restaurants I found in google. Someone said it was best greek restaurant not only in this area. What a lucky I am. I ordered pork/egg scramble, grilled octopus, greek salad small size and 2 glasses of wine. Outside table I used was right next to park and gave me nice corner view also. I love this place. After meal I got delicious cookies ? for desert.
Enjoyed it very much! Food was amazing, the stuff was super nice and the terrace was a great place to sit. Would recommend for a dinner date. Tried baked shrimp with yoghurt and tomato sauce - loved it! Also got a kebab, which was super juicy and tasted great. They also brought a dessert on the house which was a nice touch. Overall very happy with the experience.
Love, love this place for its authentic Greek menu, Old world Athenian ambiance, gracious staff, and array of fresh seafood that changes with the seasons. Wonderful mezes -- hot and cold small plates -- delicious favorites like gigantes fava beans, stuffed grape leaves, a delicate spinach pie, tasty and aromatic spreads like taramasalata that are hard to find. Great array of vegetables and salads, well priced Greek wine list plus house wines by the carafe. Cozy spot next to Astoria Park with a nicely enclosed sidewalk cafe that's especially fun in summer.
The food are tasty, especially liopitakia(deep fried olive rolls) and Greek sausage, must try! Lemon potatoes are a little disappointed, I wish it could be a little bit more lemony. The restaurant get busier during lunch hours on weekend, but they have plenty seats indoor and outdoor(outdoor seats need a sign for the sliding doors, people tend to open it all the time) the digital menu is so annoying, too many ads☹️ you could ask staffs for the regular menu or just check my photo for the screenshots of the menu.
We sat outside on the sidewalk since it was still warm enough to do so. But we were near the sewer & every now and then I got a whiff of it. We chose to stay there, but maybe move the table a little further away next time. It got really crowded within the first 5 minutes after we sat otherwise we would have asked to be moved. But that did not ruin our experience. The food was fresh & delicious! The waiters were all very attentive & friendly.
An excellent Greek restaurant with honestly some of the best service I have ever experienced. You will not be disappointed if you come to dine here.
This is such a lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food is prepared with care and love- dining here feels like being invited to dinner at a Greek family’s home. I love their saganaki, grilled octopus, and cold mezze, but you also can’t go wrong with any of the specials.
It had been many years since I last visited Agnanti and it did not disappoint. We were very pleased with the authentic cuisine, cozy decor and excellent service. Highly recommended.
Food like my Grandmother made it. This is the spot were you go to eat home made food. The quality and the service is perfect. I recommend if you have never been, you must go. Small wait to be seated depending on when or what time you go, but definitely more than worth it. My recommendation is that you definitely look over the menu and wait to hear the specials. If you are not sure just ask. As for the drinks ask for the dry white wine in the smaller bottle.
Excellent food, a bit on the pricy side compared to other Greek places around but great food. The moussaka was great, served in a small dish, definitely worth sharing. We ordered daily speciality and were not disappointed. Our sever was lovely, she had a very authentically welcoming vibe, could be the Greek hospitality; but I loved how genuine she presented herself, the staff was lovely as well.
This is the best Greek spot in Astoria. Everything was incredibly fresh and in particular…the pita. I’m convinced they are making it fresh because it got a little bit more chew than store bought. Best branzino we have had. So many more traditional dish options as well. We ordered the stewed beef, Greek salad, spreads, branzino, and we were stuffed! Tossed back an espresso to help everything settle.
Really loved this Greek restaurant!!! Great service and very friendly staff! We order so much food and didn’t have to time to take pictures of everything lol also fair prices for the great quality! The tzatziki was to die for, the grilled and fried calamari, the branzino and the moussaka omg this place is highly recommended from a great fan of the Greek Food!!! Enjoy
Went today to eat some food. Maria the waitress was pleasant, informative and provided outstanding service. The food was amazing, perfectly seasoned. We had the mousaka, gemista, Greek salad and fried zucchini fritters. Amazing.
The food was great. Saganaki was perfect. The grilled calamari was exquisite. We also loved the house wine. Will definitely dine there multiple times.
Just first rate Greek fare, made simply and fresh. The seafood is always incredibly cooked. I used to always go to another highly rated Greek seafood place about 10 blocks away, but it was always so crowded. This place is much more comfortable and the fish is better, with more options on the menu for non seafood people.
Best Greek Restaurant in Astoria, food is absolutly delicious, tasty and fresh !:) The Chef Spiros💕 is a highly skilled professional who masters the cooking technique delivering high-Quality meals .I 've been going to Agnanti restaurant for over 20 yrs and i am always Happy about their food and Atmosphere. I highly recommend it to everyone ! Best of the Best Greek Restaurant in Town!!!!!@Agnanti 💖🌞!!!MuSt GO!:))) Opaaaaaa 🙏💖💖💖🍷
I placed an order through Grub Hub for the Grilled lamb chops with lemon potatoes as the side dish for pickup. My order was ready on time according to the estimated time the app provided and my order wasn't overcooked and the seasoning was perfect! And to my surprise they also gave me a dessert with the meal.
Visiting our son in Astoria and wanting some authentic Greek food we took a walk to Agnanti for lunch. They had just opened and we were the first ones there. The waitress was delightful and had us sit wherever we wished. The atmosphere is old fashioned authentic, a very comfortable place to hang out. I ordered the salmon cooked with lemon in the traditional style. It was delicious. My wife had the spinach pie…also excellent. The service was great and everyone couldn’t have been nicer. We will be back our next visit to Astoria.
Excellent restaurant! The zucchini cheese croquettes were such a tantalizing starter (forgot to take a pic). My husband and I had the chicken souvlaki, Aegean pasta, and a side of lemon potatoes - We cleared every plate. Every bite was DELISH. Plus this place is right by Astoria Park - great views in the daytime or a wonderful night stroll after dinner.
Love this place! The atmosphere and decore is super nice! Food is amazing! We had mussels, branzino, lemon potatoes and Greek salad! I would recommend all of them! Service was super nice, I love the hospitality here. Price is ok.
I have been to the restaurant many times since 2007. I love the fact that it is right next to the park and during the warm months you can walk after a meal. The inside has changed for the better and now has a cozy and comfy vibe. Is not loud and they don't rush you to eat fast or leave after food when sometimes the case in Taverna Kyklades. As for the meal I ordered the Sea Bass and it was phenomenal. We also ordered the Misala which was also the best I had in a long time. The lemon potatoes were not the best for me but my mom loved them better than in other places. As well goes for the Fried Whitening - I loved them and she didn't compare to other places. The French fries was soaking in oil so it was not the best. Probably was dropped to fry in a not extremely hot oil but was edible. Overall I am looking forward to going there again and for sure will order the sea bass, Greek salad and the baked beans. As for dessert like in many Greek places is a set dessert plate to share with halva and tea cracker cake- both very delicious and the right amount. They both had nuts so my son couldn't eat but we whipped the plate clean.
Grilled octopus and moussaka are sooo good! And the staff is so sweet. Strollers don’t fit inside the restaurant but their heated outdoor seating area is very comfortable. When we had to leave suddenly, they kindly boxed everything up for us and didn’t make us feel bad about needing to quickly pay and go. Can’t wait to go back (and be able to stay and enjoy longer)!
A go to spot! Consistently delicious with excellent atmosphere, service, and the best people working there. A great spot to go for date night, or to bring the whole family, and in the best location beside the park. Sitting outside is also a great time in the summer, under their umbrella. Always coming back and craving their dishes!
Went on Labor Day and it was BUSY! We didn’t have to wait too long to be seated. Service was very prompt for how busy it was (lunch rush) and food came out fast! shrimps were perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Mussels were also super tasty. I LOVE lemon potatoes snd these were perfect texture (I squeezed more lemon on them). Enjoyed the food and good service!
I had dinner with friends at this old school Greek restaurant that was a real treat. 😊😋 The food was truly delicious, oozing with traditional authentic flavours ... that managed to transport me to many happy memories of great family meals in Greece. 😍👍😋👍 The service was very friendly and their Greek wine list, one of the best I've come across during this trip to the area ... with very reasonable prices too! 😊👍 I'm definitely going back for more ...asap! 😍
Very good family style Greek restaurant! Service was quick and staff was friendly. Food was very good and authentic. The stuffed tomatoes were fantastic. I also loved the feta with honey and the salad was very fresh. Servings were generous and we also got some delicious complimentary desserts at the end.
I was eying this place ever since moving into the neighborhood and I finally visited when family came into town. The place held up to my expectations I can see why it is always busy. The staff is friendly, we did not wait for a table, and everything was served in good time. For food we did steak, salmon, lemon potatoes, and calamari, everything was so so good and the portions were big. I will definitely be coming back
I just had the most incredibly lunch at this place with my aunt while she was visiting! She had a heavy dinner scheduled for later so I wanted to take her somewhere that would satisfy our craving for fresh fish and wine while also being cozy, authentic and had great service. Agnanti was EVERYTHING and more. We split the greek salad, stuffed calamari and grilled branzino and got a half carafe of the retsina. My aunt ended up taking photos of everything and we had the best time. Also the desert was delish! We said we couldn't wait to be back and this was one of the best meals we've had.
The staff at Agnanti are just top notch, pushing this review to full score. The grilled octopus was tender and delicious. The Aegean pasta, fantastic. The chicken souvlaki was a bit on the tough side, understandably so with how large the chicken chunks were. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Agnanti is definitely worth your night out. They were keen on making sure we did not leave hungry with free plates of rice and dessert for the first timer.
One of the best Greek restaurants I had ever been in NY. The most delicious Greek salad, the most amazing fresh and flavorful vegetables and fresh cheese! I really loved all food that we ordered. We had party of 6 people and order bunch of food to share! All portions was huge! Wine was absolutely amazing! We had amazing time with my friends, service was on top! Thank you for our server( so sorry but i forgot his name- tall guy 👍👍👍) We got complimentary desserts and bottle of wine! Thank you for great time, will definitely come back again!
My parents and I (Greek-Cypriots) had dinner there and we were blown away by the atmosphere, the authentic and delicious food, and the service. We all agreed this was the best food we've had during their visit in New York, and everything was as authentic as it gets. It was worth the price, which was a bit on the high side, but you get more than what you pay for imo. The location is also great, right by Astoria Park and far from the busy roads, so the ambience was nice and quiet. They had a nice selection of Greek wines too, as well as free desert at the end (as is typical in many traditional Greek restaurants).
When you first arrive to the restaurant, there is a clear view of Astoria Park. And looking inside of the restaurant, it feels like you’re escaping into a different part of the world not only was the decor fabulous but so it was the experience of eating there, the food was wonderful. We started off with the calamari. I ordered the chicken Slovakia and my friend ordered some kind of meat dish that was very rich. We finished off with some desserts that they treat us to on the house, the staff was super accommodating, very helpful and so explanatory overall lovely experience.
This was a VERY authentic Greek restaurant, with incredible food and atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and they almost transported us to Greece for the evening, but the authenticity was also a drawback as we were left waiting for the check for nearly an hour. Small price to pay for the amazing meal, though!
I dined at Agnanti for the first time during lunch and had an incredible experience. I ordered the Biftekia (beef patties) with lemon potatoes, and every bite was packed with amazing flavor. The atmosphere was intimate, welcoming, and perfectly situated right across the street from Astoria Park. The staff took exceptional care of us and truly made us feel like family. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Chef Spiro and was able to personally compliment him on the outstanding meal. I highly recommend visiting Agnanti if you haven’t already — it’s a must-try.
I had a lovely dinner at Agnanti. The branzino was fresh and delicious, the string beans reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking, and skordalia (garlic paste) was good too (could have been stronger though). Service was excellent, and I enjoyed sitting in the enclosed patio area. Highly recommended for authentic Greek food in Astoria.
Incredibly good food, thoughtful and fast service, lovely ambiance, and complimentary bread and a little dessert. Highly highly recommended! I loved this place and will absolutely be back soon. I didn't get a picture of the zucchini & cheese fritter/croquettes but they were also excellent. Very fresh with dill throughout.
Stopped by with a friend and not only was the food delicious but the service was awesome! Our server was so kind and even brought out a plate of desserts for us to try! Overall an awesome meal and you can tell it's the kind of place where they know hospitality!
This is ALWAYS our go to Greek spot in Queens! We’ve tried them all and though the menu here and certain things have changed, we still love it. It’s as authentic as you can get being in the states and the portions are pretty good! Enjoy a little piece of Greece here and then walk off your full belly at the park after!
Very nice place with fresh and authentic cuisine, not the cheapest one but it’s not Mc Donald’s lol diner for two $150 with complimentary free desert - which is always a nice gesture . Will come back :)
Friday, August 6 I have not been at the restaurant for over three years decided to go today around 3:30pm. I was in the mood for lamb chops unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected I’d rather go to Telly’s or Samitis for the whole lamb chops. I also ordered Saganaki As an Appetizer (the Greek fried cheese) Sorry had better.I told Sofia that I was very pleased with this and I would rather try the steak ribeye that was good. However the service from Sofia was very good. I had no idea this was going to be on time for delivery it was so uncomfortable. I couldn’t finish my meal. I’m sorry but this is my opinion and this is what I went through today.
Found the perfect spot to fill extra time between landing at LGA and hotel. Very nice location in a suburb. Service was on point! Isn’t that why we dine out? So we don’t have to do it ourselves? Ordered the seafood. Mussels were just what I was craving. The salmon was deliciously tender and tasty. The shrimp, while beautifully plated, were a bit over-cooked. I would order it again. Topped with delightful, light dessert. Was splendid. Go! Just Go!
I’ve eaten here a few times but have only gotten (many) appetizers and sides so I can’t speak to the entrees. Their grilled octopus is fantastic. I preferred the fried calamari to the stuffed but it was nice to change it up. Most of the dips and spreads I’ve had were great, and the pita here is the best I’ve ever had. One of my dining partners has a nut allergy, and we were served a dessert on the house with almonds. He realized his mistake pretty quickly and was fine, and it was our fault for not asking what was in it but neither of us were expecting to be served such a common allergen 🤷🏽♀️
What a lovey experience here last night! Went with a group of folks who I had the pleasure to travel to Greece with in August and they claimed the best Moussaka they’ve had in the city and they have been trying to find those flavors since returning. The bottle of house red was also delicious and all the food was fresh, well rounded in seasoning, and simply a delight. We paid $120 for four with tip included. We recommend ordering a bunch of plates and sharing among the group because you cannot go wrong. With an ideal location close to the river, it was simply lovely. Our service was quick and homey and the loving flair of complimentary dessert made us feel that real Greek hospitality again. We are excited to return again and taste the flavors of a place we all love. Ευχαριστώ!!!
We were there for dinner with my family. The food was delicious, and the waitstaff were incredibly attentive and kind. However, a woman who I assume was either the manager or the owner created a very negative atmosphere by constantly pressuring the staff. She was walking around the restaurant looking stressed and talking on the phone, which added to the tension. The stress she projected onto the team was so intense that even we could feel it at our table. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff — they were truly wonderful and full of positive energy despite everything. But the pressure they were under was unfair and clearly affected the overall dining experience.
Food is decent but nothing outstanding. Portions are good. Service was a little chaotic but everything came out quickly. They give you a free dessert at the end. If the weather is good you can cross the street and walk around Astoria park afterwards.
Full disclaimer: Not the biggest fan of Greek food other than some well seasoned bifteki, oh and feta cheese. The restaurant is beautiful, went on a hot day for lunch and the doors were open, the fan was on, it was a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Wonderful location right next to the park and river. Had zucchini cheese croquettes and fish meze as appetizers. They were good but nothing amazing. Entrees included liver with onions, and mussels in wine sauce. Liver was okay, the mussels were very good. Service was quick and nice during lunch!! They even gave complimentary dessert
It’s too bad this restaurant is in the most beautiful location because our experience was below sub par. We came for a Mother’s Day lunch and as soon as we sat down we witnessed the owner getting into a fight with one of the guests. To make matters worse we were told there was no pita bread because the grill was taken up by fish and instead were given stale grocery store bread. The fava bean puree tasted like it had been scooped out from a tub from Costco. Our entree took so long we ended up canceling it which is probably a blessing. The owner could use some advice on how to treat her customers with grace and the chef could use some training on how to make food actually taste good and deal with the grill on an obviously busy holiday. Too bad as we were really looking forward to a special meal.
We were there to halmorize with my husband and my son... the food was very good but nevertheless the atmosphere projected by an elderly waitress was stress and with the constant pressure on her team we felt that in one of that if we asked she was going to scold us..., another point that we did not like to see how I send the boys to remove the dishes showing us that she wanted us to leave... what a shame that such a good restaurant has such a waitresses.
Stale bread microwaved spinach pie smelly calamari and salad was bit fresh. This place used to be awesome. What happened ?
We had a very disappointing experience at the restaurant today. The manager began yelling at us and insulting us. I was there with two friends, and since it was our first time at a Greek restaurant, we were unsure about what to order. We ordered a tea and a coffee while we decided, and informed the waitress that we might leave because we were still uncertain. We also asked if my dog could come inside, and we were told it was allowed. Shortly after, the manager approached us and began shouting, stating that there was a $20 minimum consumption and accusing us of wasting their time. She proceeded to insult us, refused to listen to anything we tried to explain, and told us to leave the restaurant, saying we were “the worst people in the world” and did not deserve their food. I am not sure if the waitress misunderstood us or if there was some miscommunication, but the manager’s behavior was extremely disrespectful and unnecessary. She even slammed the door in our faces while continuing to yell. The waitress later approached us to apologize, but we still cannot understand the manager’s level of aggression. We were there for no more than ten minutes. Overall, it was a terrible experience and a clear lack of professionalism and courtesy from the manager.
I went there with my two young children and felt very rushed by the staff. No one refilled my water, and some nearby diners seemed visibly annoyed that my kids were drinking milk from their bottles. One of the owners was yelling at a waiter about seating us inside, and another staff member didn’t communicate clearly, which made the experience confusing and uncomfortable. The food was good, but the atmosphere was not family-friendly or welcoming.
Disappointed by the service this time. This was my second visit to Agnanti. The first time, I had a great experience there that’s why I came back. Today, I returned with a friend, tryna show him how good this place is but it was a DISSAPOINTMENT. I politely asked a server— a woman with long dark hair tied up and a visible gap between her front teeth—if I could sit at the outdoor 4-person table for more space. It wasn’t a demand, just a respectful request. She gave us an attitude right away and told us that that table is for 4 people. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. We were served to a 2 person small tiny table and we still order a good amount of food but ended up in a very squeezed tiny table. When we finished our meal, the two table outside for 4 were empty the whole time. Instead of being hospitality and fullfiled customer needs, they rather us having an uncomfortable experience. As someone who works in hospitality, I know firsthand that personal frustrations should never interfere with ho guests are treated. We left feeling disappointed and disrespected. The food was still good, but unfortunately, the service made it hard to enjoy. Not coming back! It just ruined our experience dining with them. Would rather spend our money else where than being treated like we are begging to be there.
Disappointed by the service this time. This was my second visit to Agnanti. The first time, I came with two friends—one of them half Greek. She spoke to the staff in Greek, ordered for the table, and everything was great. Last night, I returned alone after a long day, hoping to enjoy some comfort food in a quiet spot. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only two tables occupied inside. I politely asked a server— a woman with long dark hair and a visible gap between her front teeth—if I could sit at a 4-person table for more space. It wasn’t a demand, just a respectful request. She gave me attitude right away and walked back inside, loudly complaining in Greek to someone. What she didn’t realize is that I could understand a few words—enough to know she was upset about my seating request. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. She didn’t return to my table. Instead, she sent another server to take my order. Later, she returned to serve two new tables near me but completely ignored mine for the rest of the evening. I stayed for about an hour. The restaurant remained half empty the entire time. As someone who works in hospitality, I know firsthand that personal frustrations should never interfere with how a guest is treated. I left feeling disappointed and disrespected. The food was still good, but unfortunately, the service made it hard to enjoy. Not coming back!
