Local spot with great fried catfish, shrimp, chicken.. Their gumbo is amazing as well.. They have rules night on Mondays and R&B night on Fridays with dj.
Mr. Catfish is highly recommended! I order a catfish filet, potato salad and hush puppies. It was delicious. The only thing I would caution you about is the wait time. My order took 30 minutes or more to receive.
I ate my food so fast. It was so delicious. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of it. The lunch special three-piece catfish and beans and rice were so delicious and the coleslaw was so refreshing and it taste so delicious.
Cool atmosphere with a small bar and stage, but the real winner here is the absolutely amazing catfish and shrimp.. out of this world!! Do yourself a favor and check it out. And don't forget the collard greens.
The catfish here is great! If you're ready to eat some catfish by the platter, this is your next stop! Nice thick fillets, great tasting batter, and just the perfect amount of spices. I almost felt bad using lemon or hotsauce on this tasty fish, but its in my nature to kick up the heat. If you want a good catfish dinner with a great family atmosphere, this is your place to go!!
This is one of the ol' hole in the wall restaurants, which i am particularly fond of. It was a great find, food was great, staff tried extremely hard to make up for the lack of staff when it became busy. Overall give it a try if you love fried catfish. They also serve some other Cajun dishes like gumbo and boudin balls. Would visit again.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for weeks. Tried it today and it was definitely worth the wait! The fish was well seasoned with the perfect crunch; literally fried to perfection!! I found the atmosphere to be very comforting and welcoming. The gumbo was good, but not spectacular. The prices were super reasonable (especially for the quality of the food) 10/10 for me, the fish exceeded my expectations!!
just great all-around. I got the 2 wing & 2 catfish strips plate with gumbo, fries, & hush puppies. my wife got the veggie plate with okra, hush puppies, greens, and mac & cheese. we shared the cornbread muffins & a large cup of red kool aid. all the food tasted good! it was ready when expected (about 30 mins after we put in a to-go order). the food wasn’t greasy, which is great. they had a great option for vegetarians! 10/10 recommend.
Well Mr Catfish. What can I say about Mr Catfish. The food was pretty good. It came out hot and fresh. Unfortunately, the gumbo might need a little more seasoning and possibly some more meat. I also think that the ambience actually changes after 8:00 pm. There is a DJ and they offer music. Even space for dancing.💃 Very loud music. Could possibly be uncomfortable for some. Maybe another day and time, I can see myself returning. Bathrooms were pretty clean and staff was friendly. Huge parking lot but might need to draw lines again. Couldn't tell where the parking spaces began or ended.
The cashier was so attentive to all and helpful with selections. She smiled and offer proof that today a employees experience can be made pleasant for all.
I went to Mr. Catfish 3 times in 1.5 weeks. The fried catfish filet and kool-aid slush mixed flavored had me in a chokehold. The sides were not consistent unfortunately. Fried catfish filet dinner with greens and Mac. The 1st time on a Wednesday everything was perfect. Greens were just right with a hint of spicy and the mac was so creamy. I order side of cornbread that actually wasn't need. And the pound cake was delicious. Slush is not as sugary as you would expect so i appreciated that. 5/5. 2nd time I went on the following Sunday midday. Catfish perfect. Husband got whole catfish and loved it. Greens were missing seasoning and did not taste fully cooked. Mac and cheese was naked-ish and unfortunately slush wasn't ready yet but the regular was delicious. 3/5. 3rd time (pic below), went back on the following Friday late afternoon to see if it was an off day. Fish wasn't as crunchy as 1st couple of times but still delicious. Green did not hit at all. Mac was better than 2nd time but not better than 1st. Slush was perfect on an extremely hot day. And tried the sock it to me cake. Oh that sock it me was even better than the pound cake. 4/5. I may try different sides next time but know the fish is the star i.e. the name!
Our East Garland Church decided to stop by & try this place out before heading back to the Dallas Metroplex. The food was fine. The drinks taste great, but aren't something one can have often. The atmosphere was peaceful & relaxing. The music was a blast from the past for us 50+ people.
This was a positive experience for us. The dinning area was clean. The cashier rarely smiled but did get our order correct. I had the three piece catfish and French fries which were amazing due to the cajun seasoning. The entire meal was prepared in a timely fashion and was hot. I would revisit Mr. Catfish and More.
Man...I don't know who think this is good but they're wrong. I had to settle for wing dings because they fry their catfish in the same oil as their shellfish. I'm not complaining about that because I always ask because of my allergies. But them wing dings were very underseasoned, the hush puppies were burnt, and the collard greens weren't seasoned EITHER. On top of that, how it take 30 minutes for some chicken when it's EMPTY?! I should've known it was nasty. A fish spot almost empty at the top of lunch hour is crazy. I will never eat here again. The only good thing was the Arnold Palmer.
Today I felt like vomiting my food back onto the plate because the initial ordering of the food was a mentally anguished experience. $6 to $10 dollars for three fish strips with no sides and an unpleasant attitude from both cashiers at one cash register more focused on who's the better image for that tiny spot and should be more focused on the price to happy customer ratio increasing because that tiny spot can be filled just fine by a body in a wheelchair. I think I'll just fry my own food from now on so I don't have to make anyone work that doesn't want to be there on their own two feet. The fried pork chop was well prepared from my last visit, it deserved to be cloned again and again and so forth.
I’ve placed two online orders with this business, and unfortunately, both experiences have been disappointing. On both occasions, I ordered the White Fish Dinner, which is advertised as three pieces of fried swai with two sides. However, I only received two pieces each time. Today, I also ordered a 4-piece wing meal with two sides and received only three wings. Attempts to contact the restaurant by phone went unanswered, and voicemail was the only option available, and you cannot even leave a message even though the location did not appear to be busy at the time. As a customer picking up food during a limited lunch break, it’s frustrating to have to consider returning to resolve order issues. I hope the business can improve its order accuracy and customer service responsiveness moving forward. Additionally, I would encourage a review of the side dish options to enhance the overall dining experience. While I’ve made an effort to support this Black-owned business, I’m disappointed that these issues have remained consistent. I hope there are improvements in the future for other customers. This was my last time supporting.
