My family has been coming here for many years (over 50 years). In a world where everything is constantly changing, it’s nice to have the stability of Chris n’ Pitts to come home to. I love the familiarity of it all. 5 stars all the way.

Haven’t been to a Chris and Pitts in over 30yrs. The wife and I would rush to Chris and pitts in van nuys after we’d get paid every Friday in the early 90’s. It was real simple, we’d both get a steak and baked potato. We moved and they closed down. This past week we were in the Buena Park area, taking advantage of some leadership training, after a long day training we decided we wanted some steak, I recently heard the Chris and Pitts in Whittier closed down, so I did a google search, and found one in Downey. So we took a drive. Arrived to the Downey spot and there were only 3 parking spots in their lot, not available, just 3 in general, it was on a busy street, so we did another search and found the one in Bellflower, off to the second spot. We arrived and easily found parking, good size lot, went inside to find a very clean place with a lot of internal space. Got seated, ordered and waited for the meal. The wife was initially wanting to hit a newer fancier spot, but I pulled rank, said this is what we are doing. To both of our surprise, it was still delicious, I had the sirloin with ribs, I also ordered the beef and barley soup, freakin delicious. She got the sirloin special with some chile beans, she loved it. Food came out quick, was a great trip down memory lane, and the service was solid as well. The decor was probably the same as when it was built, and we appreciated every square inch. Hey if you want some great, affordable food, with a nostalgic feel, don’t skip this spot, show them some love, they deserve it!

The last time I went here was In 1980. Back then it was delicious.. so delicious that I remember I had Hawaiian chicken! Yum! . I got married, moved away, and I've never been back and I'm really sad to see all the horrible reviews. Hopefully they will pay attention and make things better because I'd love to come back when I visit California, and I'd hate to see them close before I had the chance to come back. Many memories from my childhood here.

We got here and were kindly and quickly seated by the staff. Then we met our waiter, Monse, and she was on point throughout our entire visit. We didn't want or need anything; she took the best care of us and helped us make some decisions from the menu. When the food arrived, it made its own statement of greatness. The plating and everything that hit the table was top-notch—some of the best BBQ and overall food I have had in a very long time. The portions were healthy and satisfying, and all the stuff is made from scratch. During this visit, we had a combination of different foods: breaded pork chops with homemade gravy, pulled pork sandwiches, steak, and an assortment of different sides. It was all pretty magical, even down to the dessert. Long story short, if you are into BBQ and home cooking that has withstood the test of time, I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Ok where do I start... The Onion Flower! Tasty as ever.. The Baby Back Ribs, mashed potato and coleslaw were excellent.. The only thing that I did not like was that I wasn't able to finish all of the food!

My husband can remembers coming to the original location when he was 3 years old with his daddy. My husband has been a customer for 79 years. We live in Temecula. Whenever we come eat we always take ribs back to our friends that remember this restaurant. My husband is now introducing these ribs to younger generation. Please never close

I've been going here all my life. Simple delicious food that is classic and has not changed and they have the best blue cheese dressing the best bread dipped in Au Jus. I love the barbecue and I love prime rib. You have to come and try it if you've never been, it's not fancy it's just good food

I have been going here since I was a child. It was so good to go back. One thing I did miss is the sawdust on the floor. Other that it was great. The service was quick, courteous, and responsive.

This place has old school appeal. Bar stools and bench seating and just the old time feel. Friendly waitresses who know what's the "go to" plates. Prices are good and the only thing I would complain about is the parking, park on the street in front or the Golden Corral next door since their lot is rather small. But don't let that scare you away, the bbq is the BOMB!! With hefty portions, we definitely will be back soon!!

Came here with a few friends for our anniversary and Eugene was our server. He was on point with bringing drink refills and any (which was a lot) of sides that we asked for in a timely manner. I ordered the large prime rib (medium) and it was outstanding! Eugene was very polite and smiled throughout our visit. We will definitely be back for prime rib!

This is an old favorite of the family. We used to go to the Chris n' Pitt's in Orange County (we sure miss them), - my grandparents had gone to Chris n Pitt's from the very beginning way back. Even though they're not in Orange County anymore, we make the drive out to Bellflower periodically to order ourselves some good food. Tonight Brenda prepared my to-go order and she was so attentive I didn't even have to ask her for the extra things I needed - she already knew and included them in the bag. What great service! This place is a little landmark and I really hope they stick around forever!

I ordered the six meat combo aprox $30I got home to discover the meat was burned to a crisp the fact that the cook looked at me before he fixing my order was the problem. I took the meat back to show the staff the burned food they were accommodating but the cook started arguing with me back and forth although they made him fix me another plate I didn't eat it because at this point it wouldn't be a good idea to eat his food so I threw everything away this is just a $30 loss and a lesson Learned

It’s been about 25 years since I’ve been to Chris & Pitts. I didn’t realize there were any around still and came across the Bellflower location. I wasn’t sure if it would be as good as I remembered but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was large and can accommodate a lot of guests plus there was ample parking in the front and back. I had the $16.95 steak special with mashed potatoes and gravy and upgraded the second side to a bowl of chili for $2.45. The chili was delicious and quite filling. The steak was on the smaller side but you can’t really complain for such a good price point plus it was the perfect amount of food once you include the mashed potatoes and large piece of garlic toast which was just as good as I had remembered! My husband had the steak and beef ribs and thought it was delicious. All in all, you can’t beat the price and the food still tastes homemade. No frills, just good old fashioned home cooking.

The prices are fair, the bathroom is CLEAN and you will not be hungry once you leave, you WILL be dreaming about the next time you walk in, I can assure you!

I've been a die hard Chris and Pitts fan since the beginning. Their portions have become smaller over the decade but they're still the most affordable high quality steakhouse around. Our favorite appetizer is the onion flower. It's massive and has the best crunch ever. Their homemade ranch is also unmatched by any others. Their prime ribs are my go-to order. It's always juicy and tender with their satisfying au jus. Their combos are super worth it - they come with the choice of soup or salad, garlic bread, and choice of potatoes (beans and fries, baked potato, or mashed potatoes). My favorite is the beef barley soup! But sometimes I'll get the salad just because I'm craving their homemade ranch. Their meals are super satisfying and more than enough food for a second meal.

Old school BBQ -- sloppy wet ribs, old tufted vinyl booths, even older appliances. Some of the wait staff has probably been there since the very beginning. All of these things are what make it special. While it's not the best, it is an original.

First time here. Stopped by chance after first planning to dine at the big buffet next store. Stepping inside, I thought oh, oh. Smaller inside than expected. And a little dated. But, don't let that throw you off. The staff was super nice. I noticed a lot of "regulars" dining, bringing friends and talking about how long they'd been coming. And, the food was delicious. My husband had the "prime rib dip". With the prime rib freshly prepared.(The waiter had to ask the kitchen if it was ready yet). Two thick slices of prime rib on a fresh roll with lots of au jus. I had the Rib Special with a combination of beef rib, spare rib & 2 baby back ribs. All so yummy and tender. The sides garlic bread, beans and fries went with it perfectly. We will definitely return.

Was all plenty good. The only thing I didn't like was that the cashier took it upon herself to add 20% tip. That's about what I typically tip anyways so I didn't say anything. Just didn't appreciate it being forced like that. Wasn't a 20% tip policy that was posted like is common to see when in larger groups. I was just a solo dinner and the cashier when tip options popped up on the little screen, reached over, and hit the 20%. So I'd say just watch how they handle that when you're paying on the way out.

My rating of only 4 stars did not in any way have to do with the food, or the wonderful atmosphere. Although they have quite a bit of parking alongside their building - the driveway and turnaround at the back can be a little tricky. They do have parking across the street, and are not far from the signal and crosswalk. I do love their decor (inside and out), and my BBQ beef sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy, and my garlic bread was very delicious. All the staff were cheerful and HELPFUL to answer my questions about the items available.

I've been a big fan of C&P BBQ for years, yet tonight I was completely caught off guard. I purchased a full rack of babyback ribs - cost was $39.99 - came with one side (I opted for mashed potatoes w/gravy) - unpacked it from it's foil wrapping and was GREATLY disappointed in both quantity and quality of the ribs. Enclosed were nine very thin ribs with little to no meat on them, several overcooked/charred....inedible. The mashed potatoes serving would be adequate for an adult male but certainly not enough for two to dine on. I've eaten their ribs in the past and they were nothing like this. If this is the quality of their product offered there is no way I would recommend this establishment to anyone. I can't believe I handed over $39.99+tax for what I received. I attempted to eat two of the ribs - nothing on the bone to sate an appetite...the rest you all are looking at in the photo I've attached. This meal is being returned to the restaurant tomorrow. I'll leave a review on how well that goes tomorrow!! ***UPDATE*** I returned to speak with the manager who was very courteous and concerned about my experience not being a positive one (as I stated in my original review I have been a long time customer and have always been satisfied and happy with their great meals) He offered another full replacement meal or a full refund of my purchase. Things worked out on a positive note and my faith is restored in them. I'm not too shallow to realize that mistakes get made, humans have bad days, and we all need to give each other a break. As you can see, the reviews here are mixed. C and P is probably the oldest bbq place in Bellflower. They have wood paneling on the walls, quirky parking, and old restrooms. If you want a hipster bbq place with young servers and fancy food presentation - you won’t like this place. The prices and flavors are in line with bbq places. We had the pulled pork sandwich (good!), fries (so-so), baby back ribs (good), mashed potatoes (yum!), and salad (ok). Personally, I like C and P. I’m over chain restaurants, and will roll the dice with a place with character, working class employees, and decent food.

So this was our first time here, not impressed! The ribs were dry, the meat was not coming off the bone, the bbq sauce scarce. The food portions are small but decent. They are lacking lots of bbq favorites such as links, brisket, Mac n cheese, cole slaw etc. Will not be coming back.

It hit the spot. Not fantastic but not bad. The Ribs were good coleslaw was good, cold👍 the onion rings were amazing, the beans were great for beans but they were not your typical BBQ beans I was expecting. I would go back especially for the onion rings.

Stopped in on a whim, hadn't been in 40+ years due to living outta state. Good service. Not gonna lie, food was nowhere as good as I remember (except bbq beans were exactly the same 😋); weird, because it was lively for mid-afternoon and was always quiet and dark at that time, years ago. Had 1/4 chicken & singe BBack rib lunch special (was not too hungry on the Black Friday we visited) -rib was super tiny (see pic). They really need to open their parking lot back up and get rid of outdoor dining, my 85 year old mom had to walk 200 feet over sketchy gravel from parking as single spot handicapped parking up front was taken by a vehicle w/o a placard. Overall, a bit disappointing after all these years.

I'm glad I went, but I don't see myself going a second time. The sides were great. We had the blooming onion, onion rings, mashed potatoes, and French fries. All of the sides were flavorful, and the crispy items were very crispy. The BBQ rib wasn't as tender as I had hoped, and I didn't really like the texture or flavor of the meatloaf. I did, however, really enjoy the beef barley soup. The wait staff wasn't rude, but I also didn't get super friendly vibes. Overall, I am actually glad I went, but I won't be going back.

3.5 stars.old school bbq joint that is in need of an update. Big menu that is all over the place so selection is nice but overwhelming. I'm not a big fan of their bbq but some people like it.I usually order the prime rib sandwich which is good for price. Prices are reasonable and portions are adequate.

We took my brother here for his birthday and it was not the best place in town anymore. First of all it was really dirty and run down. We stayed because this was my Dad's favorite location and we wanted to celebrate my brothers birthday in his memory. The prices were pretty high for the small portions that were served. I ordered a half order of onion rings the waitress brings me 4 onion rings and says two fell on the floor she will bring me them in a few minutes finally she brings me the other 2 really 6 onion rings for $11 you have to be kidding me. Plus all the meats were over cooked. After spending over $300 for food that was only worth $100. I don't think we will be visiting this location again. Sorry Dad this location is off our favorites list but our memories will always be of the good old days we use to spend there may you rest in peace love you

So very disappointing. We've been coming here for over 30 years but noticed alot of negative changes in the last few visits. Won't be coming back anymore which is sad as we've had many enjoyable celebrations here in the past. Our waitress was pleasant enough though right in the door they ignored us for quite a few minutes fine if they're busy but there were very few customers. Usually swamped before on a Saturday night less than ½ the tables were occupied. Should've been a clue right!? Our story mostly concerning the food. Dad ordered the porterhouse & was told there wasn't one so he order the ribeye medium rare but it was so small less than ½ inch thick & tough overdone totally dry. I ordered the steak & rib combo with all fries-no beans, sincerely could count the fries maybe a dozen total?!? Sirloin steak cut so thin it was tough to chew dry to swallow & overdone. Ribs were as small as babyback. Mom ordered the baseball cut but again thin overdone dry etc... Just so very disappointing after so many years of patronage & enjoyment we will not return again. Goodbye Chris & Pitts.

I haven't eaten at a Chris and Pits since I was a kid, so I was excited when I came across one unexpectedly. Chris and Pitts is one of my favorite bbq sauces, so leaving this review hurts. The service was great, they were quick and attentive. The restaurant itself is pretty run down. The menu pricing seems very reasonable. The food though was pretty rough. We ordered chicken, beef ribs and a pulled pork sandwich. All consisted of about 50% bbq sauce and 50% meat. I don't know if you have had a full mouthful of bbq sauce, but I would give it a 0 out of 10, would not recommend. We scraped off as much bbq sauce as possible but still couldn't actually taste the meat. The French fries were fine. The mashed potatoes had as much gravy as potato. If you eat here, I would ask for all sauces on the side. The meat might taste good, we just weren't able to taste it at all.

Went with 5 people Texas Style BbQ sandwich was mixed together overcooked left over bits as far as I could tell, the top sirloin special was small and overcooked, fries were not great, the prime rib wasn't available in med-rare for some reason I didn't understand and was poorly seasoned. We ordered it medium as that was the rarest available. My son had the baseball steak and it looked cooked properly and he said it was good but I didn't try it and he didn't finish it. Mash potatoes were good, bread was good salad was good. The onion rings were the best item we ordered. I'd rate it 3.8 out of 10 overall. I think they have good food here but the menu is so crowded and confusing that there's a lot of mid to low range stuff. My first and last time going here.

My patty malt was nasty, super oily, no flavor, and the BBQ ham sandwich was disgusting, it was just a couple pieces of hand slapped on a piece of bread with BBQ sauce. I also go a blooming onion, that was delicious. I'm so disappointed I wasted money here, and didn't even enjoy my meal, I wish I would have went to a buffet or even a fast food joint. This place was so disappointing.

I was very excited to eat here. My wife and I used to eat here all the time back in the day. My wife pork spare ribs meat were hard and had to be sent back. My beef ribs came out black like they were overcooked. The concerning thing is, is they new the food was not good they served it to us to get rid of it and if we didn't complain great for them. This place has changed big time, and we're surprised to say we will never be back.

The service was the only good thing about the experience. I've seen this place many times when I drive by and always wanted to try it. The ribs are really sweet and not as soft as I'd expect. The sides, I had mashed potatoes and baked beans, are sad. The price is ok but what you get is not worth it. You can do so much better for not a lot more money. I do not recommend this place. I had a Michelada (that's in me) and it was one of the worst Micheladas that I've ever had.

I can't say this place was bad, or horrible it's very basic below middle-of-the-road. the food has flavor but it needs more love in order for it to be really great because the presentation looks really sloppy

When I ordered my food, they said it would be a 10 min wait. They then called me in 1 minute and gave me old ribs and cold garlic bread

First of all the place looked dank,drewery,ancient. The food was gross.we ordered the onion flower was under cooked, the chicken and ribs had no flavor the beans were so disgusting I just couldn't find anything good the food was cold .the desert was frozen The only edible thing was the soft drinks. And the parking sucked!!!

Cost me 30 bucks for a steak sandwich fries in a drink left the tip $5 don't know why was not worth it but I always leave a tip part of my dining experiencewill not be going there so no more tips there the food is just horrible has no flavor it is way overpriced It is called Chris and Pitts I think when we went we just got the pits. Went with a group of 6 spent a lot of money all of us. people that go with large groups should get fresh food that tastes good because these are the people that spend a lot of money and they will come back if they have good food and good service. Actually that should be provided for everybody it's not that hard to stay in business if you can just provide that. If you went out to eat in your city at a place other than your restaurant and the food and service was substandard would you return.....😎

The food was old and soggy. Not fresh at all. The steak had no flavor, and my beef ribs were microwaved ribs. Soggy with no taste, the baked potato was alright. About the only thing out of my dinner that was sort of good was the potato! I came here before and I remember it being delicious, the food quality has really taken a hit! Don’t believe me? Go check for yourself.

Wife and I wanted to try something new and we tried and let’s just say we won’t be going back. The food was not very good. Pull pork sandwich had a consistency of a sloppy Joe. Fries dry. Mac and cheese tasteless and rubbery. Steak had no flavor. We didn’t finish our meal. At least we said we tried it.

Well, sadly this is the second visit since a really awful one when the very nice owner contacted me...a month ago i ordered a steak Med well..it was so tough.🤔 3 days ago i ordered the meatloaf ( we gave it to the cats) it was undercooked hamburger and large shredded chunks of carrots.😢 i ordered my usual steak, this time Medium..hoping for at least alittle pink..OVER DONE AGAIN..the only salvageable part of dinner was the great blue ch salad and baked potatoe. So im in Bellflower and i will be traveling to Chris n Pitts in Downey from here on out..Someone in the Bellflower C n P doesnt know how to cook...its sad..used to be the BEST in town..

ordered the chicken fried chicken and when it came out my bread was cold and my mashed potatoes were not hot. the chicken fried chicken looked burnt and like it was fried multiple times. my boyfriend got the patty melt and said it tasted funny. like the bread was bad. it also took 45 minutes for the food to even come out.. very sad valentines dinner.

After reading so many reviews I was excited to come and check out this place. Only to find that my beef ribs were black and looked like it was sitting for a while. My corn on the cob looked dried and didn't have any flavor. Service was great but food was terrible 😔 wish my food would of been fresh after spending 100 bucks.

The food is TERRIBLE! It tasted like it was cooked days ago and rehaeated. Dry. Chewy. Burned. My stomach was in pain as soon as I walked out the door. The service was good lol. I do NOT recommend.

This is not the Chris and Pitts we remember. Absolutely disappointing. $40 wasted. We went for lunch and when we walked in we were told to find a table. Fine. That was probably the best part of our visit. Our server came by and tossed our menus on the table without saying a word. We noticed the 2 servers there were running back and forth with orders. When she finally came back, and not real friendly, we placed our hamburger and pulled pork sandwich orders. I have to say it was the worst hamburger I've ever had. It was so soggy and slid all over the place! It had a ton of dressibg, way too much lettuce, grilled onions (which was never mentioned) and a tomato that was swimming in between. The bread was so wet from the dressing and onions. My husband said it looked disgusting. Just dripping from all that slop. It slid all over the place! I took everything off and just ate some of the burger and wet bread. I couldn't finish it. And the other issue we have is the service or lack of it. Not ONCE did our server come to see how we were doing or if we needed a refill for our drinks. Not once! But she sure did help and talk to 2 men that came in and sat at the bar. No tip! The whole thing was extremely disappointing! $40 wasted!! We will not be back.

First time customer and I'm really disappointed I got a rib combo all my ribs really hard and not fully cooked beef ribs usually fall off the bone an other restaurants, but not here, Wont be coming back not worth $140! Also onion rings the dough wasnt cooking enough, the coleslaw not flavor and bbq beans they are not bbq you can taste the pinto beans, we left the plates almast intact, chillis have better bbq ribs.

Been a long while since i've been here and it's not what it once was. We had baby back ribs and beef ribs. Dry and flavorless. Fries hard and stiff. I won't be coming back.

Went their the other day I ordered lunch rib beef ribs I was excited being there food came out kinda fast notice the food wasn't what was expected ribs were dry bread no flavor it seems like they just warmed it up, the waitress ask is everything ok I said if the ribs were made yesterday she said no she asked why I mentioned it hear that they were dry like they just warm them up Why should? Why would she bring a plate out to us like that? She should always have quality control before she takes that plate to our table taking that plate replacing it. When she came back the ribs were fresh and really good. Why didn't that happen the first time? Why send me old ribs? Were they trying to get rid of them from yesterday? I don't think I'll be going back over there. The food is bland not very flavorful. The ribs were okay but I wouldn't go back not for the amount of money that I have paid and a quality food that I received. It's unfortunate to have people working in establishment serving food like that to customers.

Came to dine in at Chris and Pitts with my friends and ended up leaving because they did not have a working AC. Hopefully they fix that, but for the most part the waitress were very kind and welcoming. Hopefully they fix the air conditioner so I can dine in and enjoy their food.
