Excellent German restaurant with authentic and very flavorful food. Highly recommended for vegetarians. The vegetarian Schnitzel was phenomenal 🫶
We were so excited to try this new restaurant because it's German, and until now we've had to track to Palo Alto for German food. I'm so glad we went here! We came here without a reservation for Friday night, but locked out and got a table. It was getting extremely crowded as we left! So definitely make reservation. The food was wonderful! Everything was lovely, but I think our favorite was the schnitzel. Can't wait to come here again. We are already talking about coming back! Very sad that we didn't leave room for dessert.
Food was good, we especially enjoyed liver patties, and the wurst plate was delicious. Potato latkies were too oily, which is sad as I love latkies and was anticipating a treat. Service was really good, attentive and nice.
The beef liver appetizer was outstanding, and the rest of the dishes were also very good. The staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly
Both of us got a blind tasting which was a fun way to try a flight of random wines! The food was fantastic. We immediately got hooked on the artichoke beignets and I wish we ordered about 5 more orders. The shrimp and lobster ravioli was the biggest surprise, it was incredible, and the perfect portion to share! The waiter brought us a tasting of his favorite Cabernet and it was incredible too!
The food was AMAZING. it's light, and well seasoned, but still hearty. I forgot to take a picture of the yägerschnitzel before I ate but I got that, the Kolsch, and the spatzel 😋service is also great. I skipped dessert because I was so full, but I will have to try it next time.
First timer but certainly plan to be a regular. Can't rave enough about how delicious all the dishes were! From the calamari and tuna tar tar to the gnocchi, spaghetti and flat bread each was the best I've ever eaten. The only down side was there were only 3 servers for about 15 tables which caused longer wait times. Tables were nicely spaced out.
Great place. I was there couple days a go with my cousin. I had ribeye steak and some dessert. Dessert was delicious. They have so many selection of the beer. They also had game on we able to watch march madness basketball. You don’t need reservation it’s first come first serve which is awesome.

Bistro Mitte - A Delightful Taste of Germany Close to Home! We were thrilled to discover Bistro Mitte, right in our backyard. Our excitement was well-rewarded! However, by the time we left, the place was packed, so a reservation is highly recommended if you can get one. The food was absolutely wonderful. Every dish we tried was a hit; we started off with some spaetzle—how does one make pasta better? Cook it in butter afterward to give it a crunchy outer shell. The Paprika schnitzel was undoubtedly the star of the evening. It was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor—definitely a must-try! We enjoyed every bite and are already planning our next visit. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. My date was definitely surprised when I declared we were coming back here! We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu! Lastly, their menu prices are extremely reasonable. Guten appetit.
My co-workers and I came here to avoid traffic back to Sacramento and we were so glad we did! All the food was so incredibly delicious. The trout was magnificent, so buttery and flaky.- - the schnitzel was crispy and thin with incredibly good sauce and the homemade sausage was amazing as well. The service was very good with an incredibly kind and friendly server. All in all, top reviews from all of us! If we're ever in San Carlos again, we're coming here.
Cozy restaurant serving German dishes. We visited during the San Carlos Night of Lights, and the restaurant was at full capacity. I was worried it'd take a while for our orders to arrive but our food came promptly and everyone in the family enjoyed their meal! Adults had the veal schnitzel, and kids had the chicken schnitzel and Bratwurst entrees which were quite good! We've had our fair share of schnitzels in Germany and Austria, and Bistro Mitte delivers a very good version. The sides were fine, albeit the red cabbage was a bit on the sweet side for me, and I generally prefer there to be German pickle bits added to a German potato salad , but overall we had a great experience and will be back!
The food is delicious. It’s also the most authentic German food I’ve had since we lived in Freiburg. And they were so nice!
Really good German food. We are big fans of German food. Excellent menu of appetizers and mains covering most of the spectrum of German dishes. Nice drinks menu too. We had the Jagerschnitzel and bratwurst with curry sauce. Both were with red cabbage (rotkohl) and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes for the sausage. Schnitzel was crispy outside moist inside and the sauce was great. The sausage was very nice. Portions were huge! We had the potato pancakes for appetizer, with apple sauce. Nice and crispy on the outside, moist inside; perfect. Service was snappy and friendly. All together a wonderful authentic German restaurant.

Went here for lunch yesterday and were not disappointed. We got a chicken Schnitzel and a pork Schnitzel, one with a side of Bratkartoffeln and the other with red cabbage. The red rabbagw could have been a little hotter, it was just warm as if heated up. The Schnitzels were delicious! There's a patio area for seating and also indoor seating.
The food here was just like what I had in Berlin. Arguably better! Good beer as well. The service was also similar to what I got in Germany which keeps this from being a five star review.
Nice and quiet on a warm Monday evening. I think this place is like a German diner, simple and straightforward. Items ordered: Beef liver Jegar Schnitzel (pork) + Good price for a sit-down restaurant experience. + Food was filling. Seasoning was on point. + Servers were reserved yet attentive. + Beef liver was delicious, but definitely needs an acquired taste. + Side potato was crispy and flavorful. * Unusually slow and quiet, I'm not sure if they made money tonight. - Bread was cold. - The side salad was not as crispy. - The schnitzel was okay, oilly and forgettable.
Diego and staff took care of our party of 15 celebrating my niece's 25th Birthday. We had 3 kids, 7 and under and the staff provided coloring sheets for them. The food was excellent , the drinks were great. Diego allowed us to try a small taste on a few beers we weren't sure of. The staff was very attentive to our needs as a group and I hope more people visit this gem of a place. Restaurants are doing their best to survive during the pandemic. This is one that needs to remain here in San Carlos once we're back to some kind of normalcy...great job Diego
The service was a little slow but the staff is very friendly. The seasoning on the calamari and shrimp might be top 3 I've ever had. Make sure to get extra bread for the artichoke dip so you can have a good ratio of bread to dip. Tuna tartare was incredible bad the beer sizes are generous!

Update. We came back and had a completely different experience. We ordered the same meals as last time but they weren't as good. We didn't finish any of the meals. Unfortunate change. I'm going to hit up a different restaurant next time I crave a good schnitzel.
So-so food. Incredibly bland. The most disappointing was the Gurkensalat (Cucumber salad). Instead of super-thin cucumber slices in a dill-sauce the salad was large chunks of cucumber in a yogurt sauce with no dill to be seen or tasted. Quite disappointing.

First time here, and I'm going to leave the beer out of the equation, because German beer is not what this place makes, they just serve it. The spatzle was more like spaghetti with a cheesey Alfredo sauce with some green onions thrown in for flavor. It was very confusing at first. The Bavarian pretzel was a little bit more on the hard side than soft again with not much flavor. The pork wiener schnitzel was a decent size, but you really needed to eat it with the sauerkraut to get any flavor out of it. The grilled (?) potatoes were okay as a side as was the salad, but again nothing worth noting flavor-wise. Would I go back again? If I was in the area and wanted a beer, yes. I might also try the sausage with the beer. But as a destination restaurant, no. Average, but lacking any distinct flavor(s) in the food.
Food is very good. Unfortunately service sucks! Food orders came in too slow drinks sat unfilled. One order, side salad came on under the main dish. I won't be going again!
