One of the best ramen spots we’ve had in the area. The broth was rich, the chashu was well-cooked, and the spice level was very satisfying. The server was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back!

honestly the best ramen i’ve ever had. the broth has so much depth, it’s not too salty, we could drink it all. and the noodles weren’t the traditional yellow egg noodles but these are honestly better. you can taste the quality and we found out they’re handmade locally! very friendly service too. 11/10 recommend. update 6 months later: came back for the chicken katsu curry and we were so impressed. the first thing u notice is how dark in color the curry is. then the flavor is not too sweet and a little tangy. tangy enough that it makes u wanna eat more. SO good and full of depth. this was not your box curry flavor at all. u can tell its a homemade concoction and it was legit the best curry we’ve ever had. plus the chicken was beautifully flaky crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside. mac salad is nice and light. and it’s so cheap; we bought 4 entrees and spent as much as we would at a sushi restaurant for 2 people. and we STILL had leftovers. they play hawaiian music and it gives the place such a calm and sweet feel. love this place!! i’d still give it 11/10 highly recommend.

Clean and cute! Oxtail ramen and the classic ramen with parmesan were awesome. Had low expectations on the fried chicken bits for the appetizers but they were so moist and I really enjoyed the taste. Great find. Left feeling filled but not heavy. This place needs more business!

Delicious chewy ramen noodles, whole egg, rich flavorful soup. Perfect portion size. One pork strip was 90% fat, which wasn’t great; the other was 1/3 fat. The oxtail soup was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Though I wish the noodles were a little less cooked/chewier and that the side sauce were less salty. The chicken curry and loco moco were very tasty. The yuzu lemonade was good/fine. Service is fast and accommodating. I also love that there’s a list of Hawaiian Pidgin terms on the table. Go before 7 to avoid waiting for a table. Or you can sit at the many high top seats.

We celebrated my son’s birthday. Food was excellent. Ramen, katsu, short ribs, Matsubi, fried chicken, brussel sprouts all very good. Portions are large. Service was great! There isn’t that much space for large parties. And no dessert on menu.

Ordered: Broke Da Mouth Ramen, Bruddah Sprouts and Ika (Squid Legs) The food was absolutely amazing. It was my first time having ramen topped with parmesan cheese, but I was pleasantly surprised! I got spice level 2, but as someone who loves spice I could have gotten a 3 or 4. We also ordered the brussel sprouts and squid legs for apps and it was the perfect serving for 3+ people. They were cooked to perfection with a unforgettable crunch! We went a little after lunch on a Saturday, and even though it was a bit packed we were able to be seated quickly. I did not catch our servers name, but she was attentive and helpful when ordering. The vibe of the restaurant was super chill, the wood work captured my eye. I would highly recommend a quick lunch with the kids or a dinner date. Other - Great spot inside for a photo op!!!!

Great place for excellent ramen! We tried the Kilauea (spice level 4 - perfect!), the loco loco Moco and the Manini fries (so addictive!). Also got the Kahuku style shrimp for takeout (very good!). My 11 year old loves this place.

Nice little shop. Solid ramen. The 3 is actually pretty spicy, so just know they run on the spicy side. Katsu curry was solid too. Very crispy. Super fast service too! 1 individual bathroom.

It was delicious, but definitely spicy. Be careful or it gonna be fighting for your life kinda spicy. I’d say 2-3 is spicy but good enough to enjoy. Don’t get spicy if it’s too much for you. Kinda oily but it was good overall. The fries were also great but $5 for so little! I was expecting bigger portions. The 808 chicken excellent too but small portion. Try it if you are curious it’s great, just a bit spicy and small ish portions.

Truly incredible food. Came with a friend and we got 808 chicken appetizer and Broke Da Mouth - spicy level 1 and spicy level 3. Chicken was unbelievably crispy and tasty even without a sauce. I love spice and thought level 3 was perfect for enjoyment while still packing a punch. I also ordered extra tamago (egg) in my ramen and it was well worth it. Broth was creamy and noodle amount generous. Coming back again for sure! :)

The food was really tasty and great. I have to be honest, this is the best ramen i’ve ever had. I usually don’t finish the broth but the broth here at Masa Ramen Bistro is to die for. I don’t like egg so I asked to skip the egg.

Stopped in for lunch. Had the Diamond Ramen. Perfect serving size. Added spice level 2 - perfect warmth without being spicy. Service was quick and courteous. Will be coming back

This is basically right across the street from the Trader Joe’s on university. I admittedly don’t eat ramen often so I don’t have much to compare it to, so this is genuinely some of the best noodle-soup-dish I’ve ever head. The broth is rich but not heavy, the ramen noodles are thin and firm, and the toppings are also excellently seasoned. This also seems to be more fusion-based so there’s a lot of Hawaiian and some Korean options too. They have rice plates too. The portions are enormous. I always either take half of my dish home for the next day or walk out fighting for my life because of how full I am, which I can’t say for most Berkeley spots. I would say the prices are on par with Bay Area prices, but the portions are generous. The bowl is basically the size of your head, and the rice plates looks more like a party platter. Service was fast and the servers are friendly. I like the decor. Highly recommend this place!

Good selection of vegetarian, vegan, and standard ramen dishes. I enjoyed the Timmy Tan Tan ramen - a little bit of spice, fresh crisp from the greens, and nice depth in the broth! I usually only have half a bowl and save the rest for leftovers but I was still a bit hungry halfway through and ended up eating the entire thing. Service is very quick with orders and refills. Very relaxed, casual atmosphere good for catching up with friends. Unfortunately they are now very low/out of eggs due to the current egg stock issues. It does leave the ramen feeling a little naked.

Got seated right away at opening for a table of 5. There were a few other tables with parties of 2. The waitress took our orders out of order rather than by who was seated first so I knocked off a star for that. Otherwise, the vibe reminded me of home in Hawaii. They played local music and had decorations related to Hawaii. The sayings were accurate. I ordered the Kuni - Black Garlic Ramen. Loved the flavor of the broth and the marinated egg was cooked perfectly. It had lots of flavor and the yolk was oozing out. The pork was thinly sliced and a little chewy. The ramen noodles were thin and cooked well. We learned that they get their noodles made by a local noodle company, which is great! Other dishes ordered and not pictured are Broke Da Mouth - Masa Special, No Ka ‘Oi - Oxtail Ramen, Manini Fries, and Ika. The Oxtail Ramen had thicker noodles than the regular ramen noodles. The house seasoning for the fries were a little spicy. The yuzu aioli was perfect for the fries and Ika. We enjoyed all the food here and would come back again!

My 4 star is your 5 star. Wow, such good ramen. Came in for lunch, was served quickly and really liked their ramen "Broke Da Mouth" was amazing. I had level 3 spicy, which was perfect for me, tingling lips but easy to do with the hot broth. Definitely coming back for more.

This is a cool little hip restaurant on University Avenue. I originally thought it was Japanese, which it is, but it’s more like Hawaiian really. We had a few things. Edamame, Manini fries, Katsu chicken curry, Korean short ribs, and Loco moco. All orders came with either Mac salad or potato salad. The Manini fries were pretty awesome! Perfectly crispy nice with and a nice flavor. The loco Moko was definitely overcooked. Well done inside and nearly burnt on theedge. If not for that, it might’ve been pretty good. The chicken Katsu curry was decent. The best dish was the Korean short ribs however… It also costs $30, almost double of all the other dishes. if I were to go back, I think I would try the Ramen.

Quick and easy place for ramen and curry. The waitress was nice and friendly with the kids. However, I do wish the place did not smell like cleaning products. It’s great that they are clean but it gross when all you smell is lemon cleaner when you’re eating. They have a lot of seating, great to accommodate groups.

It had been awhile since I’ve been, so thought we’d try it out. Unfortunately, it seems the quality of the food has changed. I order the loco moco. When it was first brought out, the bottom of the hamburger patties were burnt to a crisp. I don’t mind if they’re a little charred, but this was beyond edible. I think they thought it may pass since they put the burnt side down and smothered with the gravy. The second attempt was better. It came out pretty fast, which made me think they’re pre-cooked and reheated before serving. I probably should’ve ordered the gravy on the side. A bit salty and way too much. The fried gyoza was ok. Nothing stood out about it, good or bad. The katsu curry was also ok. Although, it was heavily breaded. Other guests at another table had ramen, which they seemed to enjoy. If I decide to ever go back, I’d probably get ramen instead of any of their rice plates. But with so many specialty ramen spots, not sure they would be my go-to if craving ramen.

The last couple times i’ve been here the food quality has been off. I used to really love all the food that they served like the loco moco and the ramen but something about the depth of the dishes is gone. Feels like an owner change. Maybe id go here again but rather go to LNL for hawaiian food fix
