Fabulous Pho, Banh Mi and many other Vietnamese dishes. And a very lovely family on top of it!
I had the Hu Thieu dry noodle lunch special with chicken. I was blown away by the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The flavors were wonderful and complex. The serving size was more than sufficient for a single meal. Service was courteous and attentive, even with one server and a medium-busy lunch time. Highly recommended! I am definitely going back!
Delicious, classic vietnamese food with modern seating! The bahn khot shrimp pancakes had such plump fresh shrimp, and a rare dish to find! Banh mi sandwich was nice and toasty with ample filling. Vermicelli was big, yet refreshing! I'm def coming back. Service was fantastic! They were kind enough to seat my lone self at a 6-seater on a busy night (a couple later joined on other end)
Stoked to finally have a Vietnamese place in the East Bay that has braised pork belly, banh khot, and beef carpaccio. Mom and daughter run resto and they used to run one in Ho Chi Minh. My new favorite sit down Vietnamese restaurant in the east bay. Banh khot and beef carpaccio are only available during dinner hours after 3pm.
Spicy beef pho was nuclear, get the medium as that is super tasty and spicy. Ginger caramelized chicken was phenomenal!
Fantastic food, excellent service. Ginger chicken and sizzling brisket are my favorites so far. Can’t wait to try even more!
Great pho. Interesting appetizers including a fantastic ceviche (allow extra time!). Rice plates are excellent. They are punching up here. Get there early-word is getting around. You might have to wait. Highly recommend. Go here!
I came here for lunch, and found the food to be very good and the ambience as well. I had stir fried garlic noodles with tofu. The large portion included ample amounts of shitaki mushrooms and bok choy. Very good.
This family affair is the real deal. Freshly prepared authentic Vietnamese recipes by a mother & daughters. The bahn mi was so good, we devoured it before we could snap a photo, the pickled vegetables 🥕 are crunch, the baguette is light and fluffy with a crispy exterior and the chicken is exquisitely spiced. The ginger chicken and sizzling steak in hot stone bowl we just as tasty and delightful!
Awesome food! I ordered the BBQ Beef and my husband was the TomYum Pasta. The BBQ Beef was soft, the rice was really good (as Asian, we are really picky with rice) and the salad was just right. The ToMYum pasta was not soupy and had the right amount of spiciness and shrimp. The drinks we had are iced ube coffee (the coffee is a little bit strong) which is good for morning and mine is the creamy Thai Iced Tea. The place was really clean and the bathroom smells nice too. Hopefully you come to their spot because they serve quality food and nice service too. Ample parking and safe neighbourhood. Will definitely come back
Possibly the best place to eat Vietnamese food in Berkeley. They have rich flavors and good food that tastes fresh! They have stars on the menu next to items they recommend, which is quite a few. Their appetizers of Bahn Khot (mini pancakes) are well done, but you also can't go wrong with the pho or the vermicelli bowls. Note that it is a lot of food so be prepared to take food home. The staff are really friendly and offer melon hard candies as a treat to-go. They have a rather spacious dining room and an outdoor patio. There is a parking lot, but during peak times, it is quite full.
I liked this place the most of the vietnamese places I've tried in oakland/Berkeley area. I am from OC Little Saigon and this place hit the taste buds for me. I really liked their banh mi. The bread was soft and crisp and thin and the ratio of paté, cold cuts, and pickled veggies was perfect. I loved the banh khot and the fact that they separated the herbs and lettuce easily for you to find your perfect bite. I also got the sticky rice with Chinese sausage and it was delicious and hot with the pork. Get the jungle roll and banh mi for sure!
Good Vietnamese food with large portion sizes under $20 for one person. Been here a couple of times. We usually go for the Chicken pho, spring rolls & vermicelli bowl - all are fantastic! The shrimp fried rice was okay. The chef is quite kind & willingly agreed to our request for customisation.
OMG just go! Go for takeout. Go eat there and be patient. The food is outstanding. So many beautiful flavors. My favorites are the ginger chicken (sumptuous like stew, with rice), fried rice (totally surprised us how rich and delicious and tender it is), THE WINGS (BEST in bay), chicken salad (it's basically chicken, not a salad with some chicken). Everything we've tried is sooooooooooo good! Festive atmosphere fun crowd nice patio!
Amazingly delicious Vietnamese food with lots of great options on the menu. The broth of the chicken pho is so flavorful and comes with lots of good stuff. Kids love the children’s Pho and the Banh Mi. Also tons of yummy drink options. Super nice staff too.
Not traditional, but very good, delivery on Vietnamese classics. Spicy Miso Udon (vegetarian) is deep in flavor with fragrant truffle finish. Various mushrooms prepared in different forms: grilled, deep-fried. Young and hip crowd, stylish interior. A noteworthy and unique Vietnamese dining experience in Oakland.
Me Va Con, meaning ‘mother and child’ in Vietnamese, offers traditional yet modern Viet Fusion cuisine. The building that it’s in used to be home to one of my go-to Korean restaurants while I was in college so I was very eager to see what took its place. There is a small private parking lot attached to the building which is great! As you walk towards the entrance, you’ll pass by their shaded large patio seating area. The indoor portion of the restaurant is bright, welcoming, and very clean. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a big sign on the counter that reads: “We are not a fast food restaurant. Your food is made fresh every order. Please be patient.” Not only did the sign catch my attention, but it made me even more excited because I knew I would be getting a hot ‘home cooked’ meal. The menu offers a fun variety of starters, viet street food, noodle soup, entrees, sides, & they have a dinner specials menu! I was very intrigued by the sound of the Tom Yum Pasta, but I was here on a mission— to get a big bowl of pho. We ordered the Spicy Shaken Beef Pho at the spiciest level ($22), Banh Khot (Mini Crispy Shrimp Pancakes, dine-in only, $24), Xoi Man with Pork (Sticky Rice with house sauce & pork, sausage, + quail egg), and an Egg Coffee ($8). The food only took about 15 minutes to start coming out, the coffee came out within 5 minutes. The coffee was very dark, aromatic, and had a perfect amount of bitter to it. The egg foam was delicate, not too sweet, and has made it onto my ‘East Bay Coffee Heads’ collection on Yelp. I will definitely be visiting regularly just to grab coffee. The sticky rice came out next. The presentation was fun & casual. The rice was laying on a pool of their sweet and savory house sauce & covered in a mountain of tender grilled pork. This dish could definitely have been a meal on its own. The spicy shaken beef pho came out and it was piping hot! It came with a more than generous serving of rice noodles and lots of thinly sliced beef. The broth itself was rich, deep in flavor, and not too fatty or greasy. At the spice level that I requested, I was hoping for more heat, but they do give you a container of their house made chili sauce that really packs a punch so I added a bit into my soup after tasting it. I can’t wait to try their other noodle dishes. The Banh Khot, or mini pancakes with shrimp, were served in a very cute cast iron on top of a woven bamboo coaster/basket. It was also served with a platter layered with butter lettuce, mint, and purple shiso leaves, and of course, a small bowl of nuoc chaom (Viet dipping sauce). Each bite was so light, crispy, and refreshing! I really appreciated how the lettuce/shiso were presented. It made it much easier to prepare each wrap & it was so aesthetic. There was one hiccup that the staff fixed with grace. We had only ordered one bowl of the spicy shaken beef pho, but we were served two bowls. We let them know that we’d be okay with keeping/paying for the second bowl since it was already made. They still gave 20% off of our bill for the mistake. The staff is so kind & really wants to make sure you enjoy your meal. I cannot wait to dine here again soon! Definitely going to try the Ube Coffee next.
Been here a few times and love it! All the food is super tasty, nice mix of traditional and some more fusion new age such as the pastas. Favorite is the Pho ga (chicken) - broth is very rich but not too heavy. They also make their own hot sauce. Menu is based on what the owner’s mom used to cook for her! Haven’t tried their weekday lunch menu yet but it looks good. There’s also a parking lot for convenience.
New restaurant in the neighborhood is a great addition! Crispy rolls, sizzling brisket, and vermicelli bowl were all tasty, and we especially loved the mini pancakes (banh khot). Can’t wait to come again and try more.
This place was delicious. Everything we got was delicious. I loved the lunch plate of a bahn mi and boba. The mango smoothie was fresh and thick. The crispy rolls were so good. The noodles were great. The staff was kind and helpful. This place has good prices and food. I highly recommend
Perfect banh khot. Served all day Saturday and for dinner weekdays. Parking available
Omg! They have aa very cuuuute outdoor patio! I'm so soooo thrilled!! I'll come and eat in-person next time 🥰 Inside the atmosphere is also very nice, and the music choice and really charming and relaxing 🔥 Ps: I'll review my take-out order in abit
most consistent flavorful pho ive ever had i come here from time to time space is very comfortable
Nice menu selection with great deals on combo meals. The dry noodle was excellent, good flavor and lots of toppings. I am weird and like 2 bowls of soup for my dry noodle. One bowl to dump in the noodles and one for sipping. I got charged $4 for the extra soup, a bit on the high side for broth, but overall still good value for quality.

My friend and I sat outside and the service was excellent! The dishes they provided were sooo tasty! Don't miss this place 😋
Tried this place based on the reviews while driving through and it didn't disappoint! Best udon soup I've ever had, and beautifully presented. The broth was so flavorful and the deep friend mushrooms were a special treat. The restaurant was very clean and the servers were the right amount of attentive. Wish I lived near here!
Had the udon with tofu. It was so delicious. Very flavorful broth. Perfect amount of spicy and good amount of noodles. Got it as take out and it was really nicely packed - even had the fried mushroom in a separate container so they wouldn’t get soggy. The inside looked nice and cozy and there’s a covered patio in the back of the building with a heater.

What a fantastic find! Such fresh ,delicious Vietnamese food that tastes just like a home-cooked meal, with a little something extra. The friendly service makes you feel right at home. The sizzling short rib was absolutely delicious—while it had a bit more pepper than I'd prefer, it was still a great dish ❤️pancake dish
Bahn mi was excellent. Loved the light and crispy bread with well-balanced fresh fillings. The amount of meat was on the low side but for the quality and price compared to the neighborhood, no complaints. Vietnamese iced coffee was brewed perfect, more distinct chicory flavor than other places. Shrimp spring rolls were very fresh and plentiful with a good peanut sauce. The caramelized ginger chicken entree was forgettable. Nice patio, clean, friendly and attentive staff, and parking! Will definitely go back.
Only open 2 days so far, Me Va Con is a very nice addition to the stretch of telegraph. It’s definitely 100 times as nice as the KFC next-door. It’s Vietnamese with the hospitality you expect. And a nicer decor than a lot of places. They obviously put some thought into it. Soft opening means they don’t have beer yet and there were only two wine options. The Vietnamese red wine was OK but I would’ve gone for a white wine if they had it. The food was good: Crispy roll - lightly fried and flavorful. Seems to have fresh ingredients. Beef pho - Delicious, I’d get it again. Tender beef. Good portion! The extra touches were nice. Friendly service. Good Brazilian music. Clean bathroom. What’s not to like?

Okay.... So I tried this restaurant 3 times over the past week. The first two times I got the beef pho. the first time it was delicious, big slices of steak, and the broth was flavorful. The second time, it was lacking in toppings like sliced green onion, and the pieces of steak were sparse. The third time, I ordered the chicken pho. The broth was good, HOWEVER, I was taken aback by the store bought rotisserie chicken shreds I found in the pho. Come on now guys.... you should buy a whole chicken and boil it/ roast it and put freshly cooked meat on there. And i know its the store bought rotisserie chicken because of the texture, smell and seasonings. Either way, my overrall is a 3.0, because even if you did use fresh chicken, the food is still mid. It does not deserve 4 or 5 stars and I'm not one to hype anything. The service is good, and the atmosphere is good. People are always talking and laughing in there. Looks like a family friendly spot which is nice. Have a nice day.
This restaurant is the worse place for service, we show up to eat dinner around 4:30pm on a Saturday and we’re told to comeback at 5:15 pm because there kitchen was tired from serving to many people (the restaurant was 1/4 full if that). I believe they discriminated and would like to hear from other patrons so we can file a lawsuit.
Literally arrived at 4:30pm on a Saturday, I walked in with my family and literally the waiters come in to tell us we cannot take a seat and we had to leave because they were too busy with to go orders. This is not the first time we go and have been told we have to leave because of them being too busy. They also have literally THE WORST customer service. Learned my lesson and will not be coming back.
I came alone and they did not seat me. I went to go sit down and the food was placed as “to-go.” They never asked me if it was for here or to go. It was very rude. I stayed there to eat with no service after paying over $25 for my meal. To the owners, please have your staff show some respect to every customer.
Sadly, this restaurant acted in a discriminatory way towards my family and me. If anyone else feels this has happened, you aren’t alone. We were turned away after being visually inspected at the door by several members of staff and told we could not be seated due to the restaurant not being open. There were plenty of seats and patrons actively being taken. Highly disgusted by the behavior.
So…. I was on a roll for a straight week purchasing the Vietnamese pork sandwich from this restaurant! I was so pleased with myself that I had found a place (on DoorDash as well) that had a delicious sandwich that encompassed all the right ingredients for a traditional Vietnamese Sandwich (that I’m used to:) fresh bread, pate’, (all of the vegetables, and greens, peppers etc) and of course your chosen protein. Anyway…. Then I ordered the sandwich on the 7th day and low and behold I received a sandwich delivered to my home with “just vegetables” in it! I contacted DoorDash and sent them a picture and waited a few days and decided that I wanted to speak with the manager and/or owner of the establishment to express my disappointment with what I received! To my dismay I was met with a very nasty manager! She was snarky, condescending, and wouldn’t allow for any engagement (discussion) around what my dining experience had been! I told her “I didn’t want anything in return” that DoorDash had already taken care of the matter; but that I didn’t want to simply leave a bad review, but wanted to speak with the powers that be so they could hear it first hand!” WOW!….. she told me “you can post a bad review on DoorDash or anywhere else if you want to!” I just said “OK” and hung up! So much for ordering from them again! Sometimes the customer just wants you to see and hear their concerns, and to be acknowledged!
