We enjoyed all our food and drinks. Service was absolutely spectacular!!! Roger and the staff were so kind, genuine, and prompt. Definitely plan on coming here again, anyone in Berkeley should stop by!
The Berkeley Boathouse is one of the Bay Areas hidden gems. Beautiful atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Customer service was a 10 out of 10. Short wait time for seating. Everything we ordered, including the drinks, came out in a timely manner and tasted great.
Dined here while staying at the adjoining hotel. The location and ambiance are spectacular. Great view of the marina from any table in the restaurant, as well as a large outdoor patio. They also have a nice bar area that would be great for socializing. A strange thing happened with our server, who had a spell of dizziness and lost her balance. She said she thought it was because she’s diabetic and had eaten candy. She seemed a little dazed for the whole service. The food was excellent. We had asked for the driver scallops on the side, with the fettuccini Alfredo. We were surprised by the serving size of this pasta dish. The flatbread was nice but probably unremarkable. And the beet salad was excellent.
When you stay at the Iconic DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina, you'll be on the waterfront enyoing stunning views of the San Francisco skyline while dining at The Berkeley Boathouse Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, coctels and dinner is served in a lovely ambience, the blue chiminea inside and the right choice of music. The food is taste, exotic and there's a great variaty. Service is excelente, and very friendly happy people work there. Also is amazing to see the sun setting on the Golden Gate, just steps away from the Cesar Chavez Park where you can take peacefull walks, and actually come across a habitat for The Western Burrowing Owls, one of the most endearing and beloved of bird species.
I really like this place, but the service is a little slow sometimes. My biggest pet peeve is that they don't clean the lounging chairs by the fireplace very well. Last night, one of them was missing and screw! Come on, now...the views are beautiful, and it's such a cozy, quiet place - there's no reason not to be on top of this. $300 worth of steam cleaning and hardware would go a long way.
I have been a customer for a very long time and The Boathouse continues to deliver. I have known several members of the staff a very long time, so I am always pleased that they remember me and always provide outstand service. The food is very tasty and there are offerings for just about everyone. The only negative is that sometimes the noise and the crowd size are a bit too much for me. While this hasn't happened too ofter for me, just be aware there is little separation for the bar area and a small dining room area. Overall, great staff, very good food and excellent views of Berkeley Marina.
We tried the Tuna Tartare and the curry mussels. We were absolutely delighted with how they tasted. The combination of flavors that the tuna had with the rice was so refreshing. The mussels were amazing that curry flavor was cutting through the coconut milk just perfectly with a bit of spicy at the end. The milk/juice was so good you literally wanted to just drink it! We also had the fried calamari and that batter that was in it was so ultra light and crispy! When you turn around towards the west you could see the sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge. Absolutely stunning of a view. We were here celebrating a birthday and big accomplishment and the food, atmosphere, service delivered at the highest level possible!
I had the Christmas eve dinner. There was no wine pairing, but the lamb chops were tender and juicy. I had a flight with my dinner of which the pour is very generous. They also made me a special apple cider cocktail.
Wonderful seafood experience in front of the water in Berkeley bay sunset! 🌊🛥️Highly recommended the cod fish and chips. The crab was delicious!🦀🦞🦐🦪🍸

What a lovely hidden gem! We are Berkeley locals and brought our 5 and 8 yo boys for a special holiday meal. We had a delicious feast in the mostly lovely setting (it was upscale but not unwelcoming to families) and teriffic service. 10/10
We love Roger! He is so friendly and knows all about the menu (he has a culinary history). The Caesar salad was just as I liked it. We live in Oakland and will definitely be back.
We loved our time here! Roger was so attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The Brussels sprouts were really unique and spectacular. Thanks Roger and the Berkeley Boathouse!

The food was good. We had the Caesar salad, flatbread pizza, and chicken sandwich w/ fries. And dessert was the chocolate cake and cheesecake (got it to go and the chocolate cake was delicious!) Everything was good, but the fries were really good. Not too salty or soggy, and were nice and hot! We did feel a bit forgotten after we were seated, but one of the managers (Sorry. Forgot her name, but she was African American). She noticed I was looking around, probably with a quizzical look on my face, so she came to our table and took our order and apologized for the delay... Thank you for taking care of us! Also, the interior of the restaurant was nice and modern. I would dine here again.
Good restaurant connected to the Double Tree Hotel. The service was awesome, the decor felt a little worn down. Overall not a bad experience.
Good meal and service but was quite expensive for the amount of food I received. Make sure to plan to be there for 2 hours as it took quite a bit of time to receive each item. And the background music was a bit loud and weird.
I dined at the 4-star restaurant with a lovely Bayview, and the ambiance was truly enjoyable. However, while the food was good, it fell just short of excellence. The setting and the Bayview certainly added to the overall experience, making it a memorable evening, but there was room for improvement.

Our 2nd time here in a month. This could be a gold mine of they cared about locals. It's a beautiful bar/restaurant indoor outdoor space. But the staff isn't friendly, say NO too much, don't ask how you are doing (ok other than Roger). The bar is limited. They could pack happy hour if they thought about a small plate and drink program locals would love.
I don’t think the food are that great but the price was pretty high and they didn’t give a generous portion to make up for the price. Most menu tastes good (but not the best). Service was ok. The view was great by the way, both inside and outside seatings are amazing!
Great service and overall layout/atmosphere it would be decent for a quick meeting.
My friends and I ate here last night (10/21). Our server was amazing and so was the food, however, our server put in our drinks and 25 minutes later, we were served our appetizers yet still didn’t have any drinks. I went up to the bartender and asked him if he had made our drinks yet and if so I could just bring the to the table. He gives me a dirty look and with an attitude, says, “You see I’m dealing with a costumer, right?” I think said back, “I understand that, but we have been waiting 25 minutes for 3 drinks.” Mind you, there were 5 people at the bar so I know he was not busy. I didn’t appreciate the attitude and within 3 minutes of me saying something, our drinks were at our table. Again, our server was absolutely amazing and so apologetic, just wish the bartender did the same.
They completely hide the fact this is basically just a hotel restaurant. But the real problem is the lack of service. I counted seven total parties in a restaurant with at least 30-40 tables meaning it was almost empty and an entire outside deck with six servers, yet I was ignored for 20 minutes even after asking for my check. There was literally a 1:1 waiter to party ratio, so what were they all doing? The second time I had to go to the bar to close out. The food I had was large portions but mid quality at best, mass produced Doubletree Hilton food. Maybe go there for some drinks or if you’re staying at the hotel, but don’t make the mistake like I did and visit the place expecting some solid bay area seafood.

2/13/26 This place is for the hotel guest and I say that because the atmosphere is dead and dry just like the service and the food, I’m not sure who the chef is but he should be fried as well as the waiter the sunrise watermelon drink was good I had Hennessy with mines which ended up being $42 for two my husband had the fish and chips which was out the freezer the batter didn’t even stick to the fish nothing had flavor I ordered Mary’s chicken breast and got a quarter leg that was light skinned even after being cooked what was supposed to be risotto was rice and spaghetti sauce. The waiter left and no one came to our table able for about 15 mins . This is not a date night place at all and for our total to be $135 it was a waste of money we let and we to The StudyHall which was way better the food service and atmosphere was way better . DONT EAT HERE IT HORRIBLE…..
This may have been the worst restaurant in Berkeley. Maybe in California. I would give this restaurant zero stars if possible. Hostess made a sexual joke to me as I was checking in with my girlfriend which should have been an immediate red flag for us to leave. We decided to give them a second chance which may have been the worst decision possible. We ordered the clam chowder for an appetizer which looked like someone threw some dish soap in the soup to make it more fluffy and tasted like it was made last week. The waiter also did not understand when we asked for a side of fries for our entree he decided to bring it out with our clam chowder. On top of that when I tried to be polite to ask him to bring it out with our entree he decided to leave it there for the rest of dinner. Nothing more appetizing than looking at a plate of cold fries all dinner. Then came the entrees….. the chicken was at least cooked but I think they decided seasoning was optional. The Cod could definitely have been purchased from your local Trader Joe’s frozen aisle. Safe to say we will not be coming back and I would encourage everyone to go anywhere else. Not to mention the price for each entree was 40 dollars bringing our total dinner price to a $180 dollars.
