Centro Mexican Kitchen

Just got off a flight and drove to boulder. Showed up at 8:59 after they did last call and the gave us extra wine, brought out insane tacos and Drew and Diego were some of the coolest dudes I’ve met.

We came here to celebrate national tequila day, and a fundraising effort for Ukraine. We were easily drawn because this is one of our favorite restaurants in Boulder. Luke did a great job as our friendly server, he just didn’t warn us that the happy hour portions were so ample. We enjoyed the pint margaritas, the potato tacos, and the quesabirria tacos which we couldn’t finish because there was so much. But we’ll gladly eat them for breakfast as we took home what we couldn’t finish. The qusabirria tacos come with a very rich, savory consumé, and we even dipped our potato tacos into it because we couldn’t resist. We spoke with Jaken, the assistant general manager, who was also very friendly, and we told them how well everything was presented and how much we enjoyed our happy hour/dinner on the patio. We’ll def be back.

Excellent food, excellent service! Drew was great! They even had an N.A. marg to help me through Dry January.

Cody was incredible, we had the most fun anniversary lunch there during happy hour and it was so amazing. The Mexican candy shot is worth it, especially if you haven’t had a shot in 25 years like us.

Came for drinks and Drew made me one of their newer menu additions, a Centrorito. 5 stars it was delicious!

Great go to for happy hour between 2 and 5 They have 5 dollar margs and sampler. Excellent food and staff.

Our bartender, Drew, was basically a boozy super hero. He made the best old fashioned I’ve ever had in the last few days. I will 100% come back and have a few more, maybe even for breakfast.

Drew was fantastic! Very welcoming atmosphere and even threw some Sun into the margarita.

Stopped in for lunch and had the Baja grilled fish tacos and a beer—both were excellent. The staff was amazing: friendly, attentive, and quick. The atmosphere at Centro Mexican Kitchen is lively and inviting. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

The food was absolutely amazing! Staff wonderful and caring. Crazy inexpensive happy hour!! 5.00 dollars tacos. I had the potatoes and I’m in love of this place. A must downtown Boulder

Centro is one of our favorite places, - Drew is amazing—he’s so hospitable, friendly, knowledgable and consistently makes great drinks. He makes you feel at ease and so welcome! Diego and Devlin are also fantastic, with wonderful service and a warm, friendly vibe. Great drinks, great food options, and an all-around excellent experience every time.

Came for chips, salsa, and a marg… and cento did NOT disappoint! Only put 3 stars for food because I didn’t have any of their main dishes, and felt that their prices were slightly high. But the service totally blew me away! Waverly (my server) was incredibly efficient, welcoming, and made the effort to connect with me instead of just “going through the motions”. It’s the little things like that that take a dining experience from good to memorable! She also was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and although I only ended up getting apps, she was very patient and let me ask a bunch of questions about the food! I also loved the music/ambiance and appreciated how clean the restaurant is. Thanks again!

Can’t say enough good things about this place and the people who work here. We landed in Boulder late and walked in right as they were closing. Instead of turning us away, Drew and his manager Diego went out of their way to keep the restaurant open and make sure our group could sit down and eat. They were welcoming, relaxed, and genuinely kind about it — never rushed us, never made us feel like a burden. The food was great, but the hospitality is what really stood out. It’s rare to find people who care that much, especially at the end of a long night. Huge thank you to Drew and Diego. You turned a long travel day into a great memory. We’ll absolutely be back and recommending this spot to anyone coming through Boulder.

Great experience. Friendly staff and best carne asada I’ve had in a long time. Chips sample platter had three really good salsas! Good heat. Highly recommend.

Came with a friend on New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time. Drew made the best old-fashioned I've ever had and gave us tremendous service. I can't say enough good things about our experience there, everything was perfect.

Stumbled upon this place when visiting boulder for the pearl street farmers market and the food was amazing. My boyfriend and I drove back a month later from Denver to see if it was really as good as we thought and sure enough the food and the service did not disappoint. Evan; the bartender, is extremely sociable and provided great recommendations on Happy Hour and he makes a killer margarita. Jaken the AGM checked on us and made sure the food was as we ordered and when something came out that wasn’t right he corrected it! We also had great conversation with Cody! The team here is amazing and makes for an enjoyable dining experience. The sampler is a must with the salsa, guacamole and queso! We also enjoy the nachos, quesa birria taco and potato taco! Definitely pay a visit to this place if you’re in the area visiting or if you live close!!

One of the best meals we have had out in a long time! Service was awesome…Jaken was great and had great recommendations! The food was unique and delicious! Everything was taken up a notch. We felt like we walked in a sat down in San Miguel! will definitely be back!

Bartender and all around good human Drew was fun, professional, made my drink just the way I like it (always served “up”), friendly. I've been coming here for 6 years and LOVE Centro! From the high quality and flavorful offerings, to the amazing staff, and laid-back atmosphere... Centro is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Boulder. Plus, they might just have the best happy hour in town. The staff also make you feel like an old friend. Drew took care of us yesterday, and he was awesome. How refreshing it was to step away from busy life for the afternoon with this crew and a menu that never fails. Thanks y'all :)

Morgan and Drew provided absolutely awesome service at Centro Mexican Restaurant! From the moment we sat down, they were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely upbeat. Our drinks were never empty, the food came out perfectly timed, and they made great recommendations that really enhanced the experience. You can tell they care about their guests and work great as a team. Thanks to Morgan and Drew, our visit was fun, relaxed, and memorable—we’ll definitely be back!

Such delicious food and DREW was AMAZING. Took such good care of 18 of us. Great good humor, attentive, fun, warm. Best ever. One friend was gluten allergic and he brought her a special plate of gluten-free appetizers. We felt so well taken care of. Thank you.

Jaken gave us a great booth and made our experience amazing! We felt like family! And Malachi made sure the drinks never ran out and was very attentive to our needs! We will definitely be back! Thank you to the AMAZING Chef!!!! Every bite was delicious, beautifully plated and the cornbread ice cream dessert 🤯who would have thought!!!! Would come back just for that!!!!!!

We've been here more than a dozen times and this place is always fantastic! Tonight, Drew and Devin were managing the bar and they're both madmen-bartenders AND incredible at keeping an eye on everyone to make sure the service stays impeccable. Kudos to Centro, their incredible food, fantastic tequila selection, and amazing staff!

Amazing! First time here and I am definately coming back with more friends! Drew did a wonderful job addressing the food safety in relation to my celiac dietary restrictions (gluten free) and recommended a fabulous dish called birria tacos- Melt in your mouth! We were extremely well taken care of by Jaken. They were very busy when we walked in so the initial greet was slower, but he went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. He gave us free items and was very attentive making sure we were happy throughout our entire dining experience. Thanks Jaken!

Delicious food - all 4 of usnliked our respective meals - and atmosphere. Not too loud. Drew was great. Super personable and great drinks. Malena was amazing. Great suggestions and just the right amount of attentiveness.

Where do I start, the food is great but the staff is even better. Ryan I’ve talked to many times and he never fails to make my day better. Always on top of his stuff, asking if everything is alright, and just a super nice guy all around who deserves nothing but the best. Also, Jaken is another notable and wonderful staff member. Always on his toes and helping me along with other guests. They are both the absolute best in the world and every time I come into eat make sure they are there. Ryan and Jaken are the best and will be forever!!

It was very busy when we walked in but we were seated right away at the bar. Drew, our bartender, took perfect care of us for dinner. Plus, the Mexican hot chocolate was a spicy treat. If you’re looking for a place to stay warm in Boulder the bar seating here will get you right.

Drew and Morgan were great! The food, for me, was pretty good but not amazing, but I’m a bit picky about Mexican food. Definitely WAY better food than Bar Taco, and better price and portions. The service was definitely five stars, attentive but gave us space, fast and friendly, couldn’t ask for more service-wise. I’d go back!

Our experience began at the bar while we waited for our table. Drew the bartender was super friendly and took the time to explain the BlackBird app which would give us points that we could redeem to take money off our bill. We were very grateful as it paid for half of our meal. We then used the app at their sister restaurant Post Chicken and Beer.

Our experience with Centro Mexican Kitchen is based on New Year's Eve and lousy service. The server we had was more concerned about closing down the restaurant than she was providing us service. We were a table of 6 with reservations at 6:00 pm. She greeted us right away and asked about our drink order. I requested water for the table. We were waiting for 2 others in our party, so when she brought our drinks for the 4 of us, the other 2 had now joined us. (no water from this first ask). The server then took the drink order for the 2 new people and I asked if she could bring us water again. 2 drinks were brought for our couple that joined late but no water was brought to the table. I asked a third time for water for the table. (about 20 minutes from being seated until the 3rd ask). The round of drinks definitely took awhile too but we figured it was New Year's Eve. In between all of this, we had not quite decided on food because we were catching up, so the server was super attentive about coming back to see if we were ready. However, it took about 30 min. to get water for our table (wasteful trips of checking on us if she wasn't bringing water). Our food order was placed and then expediters brought us our food. In the meantime, our drinks and water were low, but our server was busy clearing the tables that had been set but didn't have customers present. Clean napkins/ plates getting shuttled back to the kitchen area instead of checking in on us. The restaurant was not packed and what I could observe was the server chatting with the hostess, maybe dealing with 2 tables besides ours, and doing "closing" work. Bussers came to remove our plates and empty glasses. I finally went up to the bar and ordered another round. The bartender realized we had a table so sought our server out. The beers/ order was set at the bar (i.e. I could see the bartender lining up our order) but again, it took her 10 more minutes to deliver them to our table. She stated that somehow the order didn't go through. However, she had never taken the order (bc I had gone directly up to the bar). We were looking forward to having some cocktails/ beers with our meal AND for someone to look out for us especially when ALL water glasses were empty. They were never refilled once and we could never track our server down to request it. It seemed she was more pre-occupied on closing down duties than taking care of us. The food was great but obviously not because of the server.
