I didn’t have a reservation, but I was warmly welcomed as soon as I arrived. My friends and I spent a wonderful late Thursday night here around midnight, and it couldn’t have been better. The view was absolutely stunning! While the drinks were on the pricier side, the incredible music made the night unforgettable. I especially loved the diverse playlist, with tracks from all around the world—it created such a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. Overall, an amazing experience that I would highly recommend!

We hosted an alumni reunion happy hour at Monarch Rooftop this past June, and from start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The service was impeccable. Liz, our waitress, went above and beyond to take care of us throughout the evening. Our guests, including the dean of the school, were thoroughly impressed with how everything turned out. There was an abundance of delicious food and drinks all night, and the atmosphere was lively yet comfortable. Everyone left feeling satisfied and already talking about returning. Monarch Rooftop truly helped make our event memorable!

The view from the roof top was sooo worth it. The food and drinks here are also pretty good. It can definitely get busy, but we were able to get in even without reservations. I think because of how busy it got, our drinks took a very long time to come out, but otherwise, it was a very enjoyable.

Had an amazing evening at Monarch Rooftop! The atmosphere here is truly something special — stylish, vibrant, and perfect for a night out in the city. The rooftop view is stunning, especially during golden hour and after sunset when the city lights come alive. It’s a great spot for both casual drinks and more dressed-up occasions. The cocktails were excellent — well-crafted and balanced. I ordered a few signature drinks and was impressed by the presentation and flavor. They also offer a good selection of wine and spirits. The vibe was energetic without being too loud, and the music added to the overall ambiance without overpowering conversations. The service was friendly and attentive, even though the place was busy. Staff made sure we were comfortable, and everything was brought out in a timely manner. There’s a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but I highly recommend grabbing a spot outside if the weather’s good. Whether you’re visiting NYC or live here and want a chic rooftop experience with great drinks and views, Monarch Rooftop is definitely worth it. I’ll be back for sure!

Monarch Rooftop Lounge is a small but beautiful lounge bar with an open terrace in Midtown Manhattan, offering a stunning, postcard perfect view of the Empire State Building from very close, especially magical at night. The vibe is chill, friendly, and unpretentious, with guests casually enjoying their drinks and the skyline in a relaxed, social setting with a fine music selection as a soundtrack. Overall the place is not too big but this makes it perfect for a great night out with friends or a proper date. We dropped in without a reservation and were welcomed with no hassle. The cocktails (especially the “Summer In A Sip”) and wine were on point, and the baristas were fast and courteous, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Monarch is a solid pick for a breezy rooftop night out with stunning views of the city buildings and fascinating lights. Prices are in line with New York City’s rooftop bars. Definitely one of the best rooftop views and cool atmosphere! Will be back again!

Great rooftop with awesome views of the Empire State Bldg. Plenty of spaces to sit or stand. Not cramped at all. Drinks are expectantly expensive for NYC. 18th floor elevation. No cover charge when we went on a Wednesday late night. Fairly crowded.

We made a reservation to watch the sunset on this rooftop. We were a bit disappointed at first because the rooftop was covered since the weather was really windy and cold but our table inside was cool. Decor is really nice and cosy. We tried the sangria at happy hour charges $10. It was not homemade and didn’t find any fruits inside. Bottom line, great spot (not in winter), and don’t take the sangria ;)

The view of the empire state building is incredible, the service was great, but the drink was subpar I couldn't finish it.(I got the For The Gram). If you're someone who cares more about the vibes and view then this place is good, but there are probably better cocktails at other bars. Still, a nice place overall.

Food was good and came very quick, it was quite small servings. Great decor/atmosphere. Host and food runners were very very nice. Service, however, was not great at all. Waited about 15 min before a server even came over to our table and was simply greeted with “are you ready to order?” No hi, hello, how are you, sorry about the wait…barely came over to our table or interacted with us. As a server myself, I would've expected a bit more, especially considering how expensive the place is.

Rooftop bar with an indoor and outdoor part - the staff wandered by periodically to help the group with more drink/food orders, but took a while between the rounds. Small tables to put food and drink on, which led to a broken glass and someone came over to clean it up immediately. On a nice day, good view of the Empire State. Some of the drinks were less than exciting, but they did give the birthday girl a free glass of champagne! Sofa wasn't too comfortable nor the little round seats with no backs. A few of us just opted to stand around instead at a high top. Dress code a touch on the more formal side according to reviews, but there were guys there with shorts and boat shoes... you get checked at the door for ID and then up an elevator with a guy using a security card (the rest of the building is a hotel).

Monarch is that hip place giving you a feeling of exclusivity right from the start (Reservations are a must). It is one of those swanky places where you can meet your friends over a cool setting - that being refreshing drinks, tasty appetizers within a trendy ambience with spectacular views. All of which are definitely true. The views of 34th St are amazing. The cocktails are delicious. The food presentation and taste is definitely top notch. And the ambience is quite fun (at least during my visit all the folks around seemed to have fun). However service could be much improved, specially for the pricing that they charge. Reservations are allotted for 2 hours only. And drink orders took at least 40 mins to arrive at our table for our group. As much as we loved them, and wanted to order more, unfortunately we 'ran out of time' after our 2nd order. While our server was great, rest of the staff could be friendlier (host, security etc). Overall, it is definitely an experience for at least once.

Terrible rooftop and TERRIBLE staff!! The only interesting thing is the view. There are more options to see a good view in NYC. Get away from this place.

Delicious signature cocktails, great vibe, classy crowd, amazing views but ran into a horrible waitress. Her name is Liz, don’t call her hey she doesn’t like it and doesn’t respond unless she hears her name - will walk by making eye contact but won’t check on you. Also blatantly criticizes my friend’s choice of drink.

The place looked great, but they made us feel REALLY unwelcome. My only conclusion must have been that maybe we getting in the way of some big VIP party that was coming in later, but the rude behavior was unprofessional and insulting. From the start the place had a strange authoritative vibe. When we gave our downstairs host our res he said,” OK there is the elevator.” and when my friend approached it he told her “Not so fast!This is a hotel lobby!” But it did not look like one, and she apologized only to have him say,, “Ok, you can go now.” We heard this was repeated by others in our party later. Upon arriving at the roof bar we see 3 hostesses, not friendly, looking confused. We had 3 different reservations and we asked for them to be together. The place was half empty, this was 9:00 and they could not put our tables together, soon they even asked us to all sit at one the one already crowded table and combine both reservations, wnich was odd because there were not enough seats. It was really confusing and we felt like we were an imposition. Soon, a women from our party, who is in arts development/ management and is a pro at event planning and charming difficult people, asked the waitress if she could talk to her while she was gently placing her hand on hers for kindness. The waitress backed off and screamed, “Don’t touch me!” And eventually our friend was kicked out. Our party of 30, paid our bill and left. If you knew this person who touched the waitress, you would not believe this happened to her, but she handled it with grace in a way I hope this establishment might learn from. Their lack of hospitality was shocking and lacked class. They need better management. I hope this has not happened to more people.
