Recensioni di Al-Aqsa Restaurant Bronx
What can I say? I’ve been coming to this gem for over 10 years. I mostly get the goat biryani. I also love the aloo bhorta, shrimp bhorta, chicken samosa and shingara. Don’t forget to stop at the sweets counter. It will always takes me back to Kolkata. Emon Bhai, the manager, always makes sure I’m taken care of, especially for catering orders. Al-Aqsa This is best Bangladeshi restaurant not just in The Bronx but in all of New York City.
Tehari was so good Definitely will come again for this.
The best place in the Bronx to get Bengali/Indian food. They give you good portion, fresh food, and the price is decent not too pricey. I highly recommend the biriyani (chicken, beef, and goat) they have different vorta’s, dal, naan, fish, and I love their vegetable samosa’s. If you are vegan they have options as well.
AL-Aqsa Restaurant in the Bronx offers amazing halal food, perfect for Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi cuisine lovers. Their biryani, available with chicken, beef, and goat, is full of flavor. The kebabs, meat curries, and fish curries are also delicious. Don’t miss their fresh naan, paratha, and other breads. They also offer great catering for birthdays, weddings, and parties. The friendly service and tasty food make it a top choice for a satisfying meal. Highly recommend it!
My family and I came from Ontario, Canada and we were very pleased with the amazing hospitality. Especially from the manager of the restaurant, Tanvir. We came in with 17 of us and were impressed of how well their service was. Highly recommend for Bangladeshi food, it was delicious. We went 3 days in a row to this restaurant!
this is a good resturant. bengeli food are available hare
All-around solid place to grab a quick and affordable bite and if you’re craving Bangladeshi food, it’s even better. The flavors hit just right, the portions are generous, and the prices are super reasonable. Personally, I’d definitely recommend eating here.
I’m a regular at this restaurant and this is by far the best restaurant i have ever visited. If you are looking for a family style restaurant then this is the place! The servers here are friendly, courteous and always have a smile when they serve. The food portions are generous and taste is spectacular! Prices are also very reasonable.
Very fast and gives really good service. Love their food and the worker is very nice and friendly. All of them worker gives best service. I keep going back to them they are the best. Also price is affordable and also the amount they give it makes a person full and satisfied.
The food was so delicious that we keep licking our finger. Specially the Cicken Lolipop in Ramadan was so flavourful also biriyani. The service is so good they have us some food for free like duck curry. And the atmosphere was like a local Bengali Hotel
Amazing Bengali food! The flavors reminded me of home. The meat curry and different types of bhorta were perfect. Will definitely visit again.
Best foods good foods. I.love Their kababs, YOU can come Their foods are delicious. Employees are Very caring friendly. I'm happy Bronx al aqsa restaurant. Bihari kebabs n garlic tasty delicious second time eat.
Customer service is very well all is respectful thank you all of them
I usually hesitate to walk into restaurants located in crowded neighborhoods. Good thing about Al Aqsa restaurant is that they offer online ordering. As a matter of fact, they might be the ONLY Bengali restaurant who really does that and it is really convenient for busy folks like me when I crave desi meals in my diet! Sharing my experience here in detail: - I ordered my weekly food online, few different items and sweets (got 1 free chicken biriyani) and received the email receipt instantly after ordering! - I called them to verify if they received (it wasn’t needed, but still!) - I got there within 10 min or so. The entrance door is located right by the grocery store. I will take a photo next time I go there and upload. - Picked up the food I ordered and ended up buying some extra items since it was looking delicious. The front desk gents were well-behaved, better than some other Bengali places. - The food was DELICIOUS. Biriyani was good but the Rasmalai, Cham Cham sweet, chicken roast and the kala vuna was super yummy! ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ - I usually order their Rasmalai and other items through Grubhub. But it’s cheaper if you order from their website instead. From next time, I think I will order online and pick up. It’s super convenient and fast. I can order as much as I want and guess what, I will have an email receipt too! Thanks for reading the detailed review. I hope this helped! بارك الله فيك
Al Aqsa Restaurant is hidden gem in the Bronx. Their food is always fresh and flavourful. I love the verity of biryani, the meet curries, and the delicious sweets. Whatever you're dining in or ordering catering for a special event, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!
The owner is a man of respect and culture that cooks amazing food, no reason it should be any less than 5 stars
Tried the Bonus Box Deal—got 6 pieces of fried chicken for the price of 5. Honestly, the chicken was super crispy and fresh, no complaints. Ordered online, picked it up in like 10 minutes. If you're around between July 2–6, definitely worth grabbing.
If you’re thinking of ordering the butter chicken from Al-Aqsa, do yourself a favor: don’t. This was easily one of the worst versions of butter chicken I’ve ever had. The sauce was a complete letdown—thin, bland, and drowning in oil. I’m not talking about a little extra grease; I’m talking puddle-of-oil-on-your-plate levels. It was more like chicken in oil than butter chicken. The chicken itself? It was okay—decent texture, cooked properly—but completely flavorless. It tasted like it was thrown into the sauce last-minute, with no time to soak up any flavor. And honestly, even if it had, the sauce was so bad it wouldn’t have helped. This dish had none of the creamy, spiced richness butter chicken is known for. No balance, no flavor, no soul. Just a greasy, disappointing mess that left me wishing I had ordered literally anything else. Avoid this dish. Seriously.
I ordered on uber eats and I was impressed with the food and packing. They neatly wrapped everything thing so there wasn’t any spillage. I got the goat biryani, beef biryani, curry goat and vegetable samosas. Everything was so good and level of spice was on point. Also got a great deal on the food since it was buy one and get one free (with the exception of the samosa).
Al Aqsa is an amazing restaurant with delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, with generous portions that make the meal worth every dollar. The staff is friendly, respectful, and provides great service, making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The restaurant is clean and well-organized, which adds to the overall experience. I highly recommend Al Aqsa to anyone looking for tasty food and excellent service — I will definitely be coming back!
They have the best portion and taste compared to other Bengali restaurants in the area for rich Bengali dishes like Roast Polao. The fried chicken is also not bad and the shutkis are really good.
The quality of food is amazing. Absolutely loved the customer service and let’s talk about the jilabi Masha Allah crispy, perfect sweetness and delicious. The bakor khani was good too. Don’t miss out during Ramadan they are serving hot jilabi and the Haleem wooow was soo good. Looking forward to visit more. Wishing them all the best .
Great little hole in the wall spot. Food is delicious even though it’s all mostly made in batches. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant can get very busy in surges. Ive had a bunch of different things there and it’s all been good. Favorites so far are Ruhi fish curry and a special young goat biryani. Recommend
I’m really fond of the food from this restaurant. I buy some curry’s every other day and looks like it’s very good. The food quality is good but sometimes their service is not that good.I think it’s because their restaurant is pretty much busy all the time. But they should take care of the customer as well as the quality of the food. 5 star for the quality of the food.
I have been to this establishment on more than one occasion themuslim community is big on this side of town however the peoplevare no so friendly over there. Sisters are rude they jump the lineand the men who serve the food talk in their language with is so rude they take up for the rudeness instead of correcting it. I am a Muslim woman also but, if there is respect for me in this establishment I will mot spead another coin there.
Very good place to enjoy Bangladeshi food with reasonable price. I recommend 100%,. Foods taste good. Some are very greasy and spicy. So watch if you have any stomach issue. Some people comment on customer service. But they have to think this is their starter job in America. My opinion: Customer service is excellent in comparison to the tips some customers are paying. I observed in some occasion : some customers behave they are king and the employees are slaves. To the those customers : Do not forget your past. Show some respect to the waiters. Most of them will finish college in America and will have good jobs. We all should respect each others work and job. Over all. The restaurant is great.
Lots if fruits and vegs to buy here. I come to this place regularly for home consumption. As expected, it’s always packed with customers and goods and sanitation is a real challenge. Additionally, customers double park outside Al Aqsa causing traffic jam at Starling Ave. The situation in and out Al Aqsa foreshadows Dhaka Bangladesh.
Good biryani and tea. Nothing amazing though. Definitely an uncle hangout spot (no shade).
This place offers a taste of Bangladeshi cuisine, though the selection of bhorta items is quite limited. The food quality is decent, but there’s room for improvement. Service could also use some attention. Additionally, the restroom wasn’t clean, which was disappointing. If you’re craving Bangladeshi food, it’s worth a try, but don’t expect the best experience in terms of service or amenities.
I order UberEats from this restaurant at least 3 times a month as I work and I’m really busy. I usually order the lollipop chicken, the shrimp fried rice, and the butter chicken with rice. The food is great. Sometimes the lollipop chicken is undercooked and you can see the pink/red meat inside. But most of the time I am satisfied with the food. Today I ordered a lot of food via the app. I ordered 3 fried rice, 3 lollipop chicken, and 2 butter chicken. I requested in the comments for 10 pink sauce/ spicy mayo sauce because this is a family event. I explained that and thanked them for their service. I usually request 2-3 cups of pink sauce in the comments and it’s given, no problem. The issue is, after placing my order I got a call from someone from Al Aqsa. A man called to ask why he would give me 10 cups of pink sauce if there are only 3 orders of lollipop chicken. I explained this is a family order, but if anything if they could include 4 cups that would be ok too. The guy said “no sorry I cannot do that, you have to pay extra for the sauce”. So I asked him “how much is the sauce?”. This guy says “50 cents”. I’m delirious at this point. He wanted me to pay 50 cents extra for 1 extra cup of pink sauce! I got upset and said “how am I supposed to pay you extra 50 cents for a this when I have already placed my order??”. He says “you can give me your card information”. This man wanted my card information over the phone for a 50 cent small cup of pink sauce. I got so upset at his cheapness that I said “you know what, that’s ridiculous. Just give me my 3 cups.” I’m a loyal customer and i cannot fathom how he confronted me about 50 cent sauces. Fine, don’t include 10. But you had to be so cheap about 1 extra sauce cup?? When I said that, he stumbled on his words and said “sorry that is the new policy…” to which I said “no that’s not a new policy, this is just you calling me to be cheap. I have ordered from here multiple times no problem and this is the first time I got a call about something so cheap”. Anyway food is great, the staff is cheap and has no sense of hospitality. I’m Bengali myself and have relatives who live in the area who have ordered from there for more than 7 years. so I know he was lying about the “policy”. I will be telling my friends and family about such a cheap establishment. Edit: once I received my order, I saw it included 5 pink sauce. Perhaps out of guilt. Will change my review to 3 stars but I’m upset I had such an encounter in the first place.
I got a plate of beef briani with goat curry and okra on a medium aluminum plate and a chicken samosa for 29.75. Really. Yeah. Literally a medium plate. The ones from the Chinese spot. For $30. I’ll pass
Definitely not Bangladeshi style chinese. The thai soup tasted like tom yum soup. Other food items were below par. Too spicy. Not recommended.
Restaurant located in the heart of Bangladeshi community area. Close to Subway & bus station. I ordered chicken biryani, Haji’r special Goat biryani, and some snacks items (Chicken Samosa, Liver Singara, Shami Kabobs). To be honest, they have really good customer service but their foods are not good as I expected. Both biryani’s test below the average, not authentic taste of Bangladeshi biryani! Hope they will work to improve the taste.
If you don't know the price, they'll rob you. If you are not Bengali or a regular customer, you're paying extra for sure. Besides that the foods are decent. They used to be the best in town, not any more though as more better options available. The food quality and flavor dropped significantly as well as the service.
Al-Aqsa Restaurant has unfortunately seen a noticeable decline in food quality, which has been disappointing. The dishes lack the freshness and flavor they once had, making the dining experience underwhelming. On top of that, the service has always been terrible—slow, unresponsive, and unfriendly. Overall, it’s not a place I’d recommend unless major improvements are made.
Loyal customer for decades but their service and quality has severely declined. Food is decent when it’s actually cooked fresh. Staff is rude and obnoxious, no respect or care. I get it, it must be miserable working there but stop making others miserable too. And not to mention ruining an otherwise decent Bengali restaurant’s reputation by your poor manners. Management should teach their staff some patience or expect less customers.
Food is often old. Samosas always have too much onions in them. Eat them if you want your breath to smell like onions for days. Place is very dirty. Mango lassi is ok.
Sometimes their biriyani is rotten …this is my 4th time i got
You'd expect as fellow Bengalis, they'd treat other Bengalis with the Utmost respect. WRONG. Their attitude is awful, and they'll give you the worst of worst portion of anything you buy. They're exceptionally kind towards white, hispanic, non-bengali people, but not to their own people???? Me and my mom bought beef biryani, and it came with the cows tongue, not the meat, but the tongue which wasn't even skinned properly. When we called the lady and let her know, she hung up the phone on us!! Save your money and spend it on a better place where they actually care about their customers and the quality of the food.
Bad experience, I ordered 2 chicken biryani and it was so cold like they take out from the fridge and serve us. Don’t go there it is the badass Bengali restaurant in the starling. I suggest that don’t eat there.
If I can put 0 stars I will they false advertise they say delivery and it’s never any delivery every time we call they always say”it’s not available for delivery now” I thought it was once or twice but every time we call we literally can never get a delivery what kills me is why you advertise delivery and you don’t deliver then the guy on the phone gets mad when I tell him why you guys do this like my money is not green terrible place with terrible service and the food is well over priced
I usually don’t make negative reviews but unfortunately this time I had to. Firstly, their customer service is way worst than any Bengali restaurant.secondly, Food is not warm up properly, cashiers have attitude, and they were very annoyed while cleaning the table. Mostly in the morning they serve leftovers and sometimes the food got rotten. I have heard that they served leftovers but after having the rotten leftover I am not going back anymore. Spending my money somewhere else where I can treated nice with good fresh food.
Went to grab a chai. Waited in line for about 10 minutes, before the cashier decided to service his buddies who walked in after me first. I asked him did he think that was good customer service which he replied “that is my friend. I know him.”
ordered a couple of the goods that were on display in the storefront to bring along for a picnic on Memorial Day and take advantage of the pleasant weather. The food provided to us was cold and at least a day old, as we later discovered. It was beginning to smell as though it had gone bad, which indicated that it had not been properly stored. We called the store to talk to a supervisor about it, but the woman on the other end of the phone wouldn't let us! Instead of trying to comprehend what happened and offer customer service, she received our complaint and started to act in a very condescending manner. Told us to return for a "gift" but never even took our name or contact information. Very unprofessional. Super disappointing. The workers are often rude but we overlook it because the food was really good. But now I'm not sure I want to order from them again.
I wish I could give them 0 stars! Absolutely disgusting. I’m a black woman and the neighborhood is mostly Indian/Arabics. I walked in and immediately was met with rude faces. I asked do they have butter chicken. The employee didn’t even want to look at me and responded with an attitude. I walked over to look at desserts. I seen another worker sitting at table nearby and I smiled…. This man rolled his eyes… I definitely don’t recommend this to anyone unless your racist.
I got hair in my food & food was too much oily.I am concern about their food safety.
Today Morning i went to eat my breakfast to al aqsa restaurant…they were cleaning the carpet while i was eating.i requested them to stop cleaning while people eating. The server named sultan Told me its nothing worried about while eating they are allowed to clean the carpet.I asked his name he showed rude behavior in front of all the customer which seems harassment to me.I am very disappointed about the matter.I would request to management to remove this kind of arrogant employee from your company for the sake of your business reputation.
Manger attention is very bad, inside no adjust fans no working, when I enter restaurant inside all food smalls come with my clothe
Date of Visit: May 12, 2025 I had a terrible experience today at Al Aqsa Restaurant. I went in to buy some food and politely asked the waiter if I could get two types of vortha. To my shock, his response was, “Go away from here.” I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful he was — there was absolutely no reason to speak to a customer like that. The behavior of the waiters in this restaurant is completely unacceptable. Their attitude is horrible, their way of talking is insulting, and they clearly have no training in basic manners or customer service. I left feeling insulted and upset. This is not how any customer should be treated. I will never go back to this place again, and I strongly advise others to avoid it if they expect even the most basic respect while dining out.
They sell expired, food. And there service is really bad too .
Every single food item I received was bad. My request that they make the food mild was outright ignored, my rice was left out of the order entirely as well. The mango lassi was expired so it tasted of corn not mango. The naan was cold. The chicken tikka was so over spiced it drowned out the flavor of the chicken entirely. Absolutely would not recommend.
Most disgusting Bengali food i ever had. Me and my party all had heart burn for 1 week straight. Ordered a Lassi and didn't even give me a straw. Stomach was hurting for days. Ask for Butter Naan and the Naan had literally no Butter. Was really dry. Gave Chicken Curry instead of Butter Chicken.
Absolutely horrible experience . This is the third time I’ve had an issue with this place. The customer service is awful—rude, dismissive, and they act like they know everything instead of actually listening to concerns. The food was extremely oily, and to make it worse, they gave me expired beef biryani and somosas. Yes, expired. This isn’t just bad service—it’s a health risk. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Their iftar items are the worst! Bought haleem which tastes like a day old and too salty, same with the chicken kabab way too salty and flavourless that we had to throw these items. But their customer Service is very good 👍🏽 just need to improve the taste especially the iftari items.
This was the worst bengal sweets that i have ever had. There was fungus all over it an foul smell was coming out it.When we complained, they didn’t accept the fact even told us that it’s regular thing which is quite unrealistic.though i am their regular customer but this kind of experience is completely unacceptable.
THIS PLACE VERY BAD UNSANITARY. FOODS ARE VERY OILY, SMELL NOT ENOUGH SPICES AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AL AQSA RESTAURANT AT ANY COST.
do not order from this place!!! disgusting and oily, and inedible. butter chicken was inedible and cold and gross, wasted $26.
I always buy the same thing from them. Every week at least once I go there to buy that (between $30-$70 I spent every time). I live far but still come there to buy coz everyone in my family love it. The staff was very rude today. Bought some chicken and tandoori naan. Asked for the sauce. They only gave me 2. Asked them to give me 1 more. But they said they don’t have enough. I requested if they can give me 1 as I really love that sauce. They explained as shortage. Which is understandable (coz they have to sell and with that they have to give sauce). But then they said, if I pay $1 then they can give me 1 extra. I was like “seriously?? Aren’t you gonna get shortage if you give me 1”. So they could not spare 1 to me as of shortage but could sell me 1 for a dollar. Asked them “aren’t you gonna be short if you sell me 1 extra” but they were okey with it to sell. I said I don’t need it and offer them to keep the 2 they gave me. If anyone need extra, they can give those. They put it back in my bag. I throw away those sauce in the garbage in the store in front of them. And I told them, just for a dollar, you now lost a customer for life. Their behavior made me mad coz I wanted a reasonable answer. They could not spare me 1 but could sell me. That triggered me so bad. That was very poor service. Not going to buy there anymore. Hope the owner of Al Alqa is reading this! Losing a customer may not effect the business. But I stand my point. I can always buy from other. There are so many food store near there. Khalil Biryani, Khalil Chines, Nirob, Premium sweets all are there. Not only that, I won’t buy anything from Al Asqa Grocery as well. My family grocery shopping store was Al Asqa. But from now on, I will go to Ittadi to buy my monthly grocery. $1 sauce cost them so much now.
The food tastes really horrible—especially their Ramadan specials, which are very, very bad. It felt like a complete waste of money and time. The place is also not very clean inside, which makes the experience even worse. There are plenty of other halal food restaurants in the Bronx—just don’t go to this one. I highly recommend avoiding it.
Ordered on Christmas had to cancel due to an emergency..the order was placed and cancelled within 5 mins....they refused to even do a partial refund and charhed thr full $67.00. Never again will i place an order here.
Place 2 orders online, one was buy one get one free but when you order you only get one. And before placing i asked the cashier to make sure he said yes but still didn’t get my order right. Very Disappointed
I bought from Al-Aqsa last night. I’m not a local but I heard reviews from some locals and they suggested that I should try it out. At first glance I didn’t like any of the food. They all looked like it was either cooked the day before or in the morning. Everything looked dry and not so appetizing. Anyhow I still wanted to give it a try. This Tehri is tasteless, super bland, what’s even more disappointing is that it has almost no meat and all of it is just rice. I got tehri from Khalil biriyani house as well just to compare. Although it wasn’t that great either but it was way better. It was flavorful and had meat in every bite. Bhai taka diye kine ebhabe manush ke dhoka dewar kono mane ami dekhi na. Eke toh mangsho kete kete small turka banai tar upor aitao dai na. It’s very disappointing.
“This post reflects my personal experience as a paying customer in a public-facing restaurant setting, supported by receipts and photos, it is intended to let the owners know about their service/employee only, not to attack anyone personally.” This review is directed to the owner or management of Bronx Al Aqsa Restaurant. If you cannot manage your online orders properly, then please stop taking them. Your two employees outright denied my order. Even after I stood inside the restaurant, they did not respond. When I asked if they were busy, they said “we’re not free” while they were just sitting and chatting. My pickup time was 9:30 pm, yet they claimed they never received my order. I reminded them that I had placed the order nearly 1 to 1.5 hours earlier and asked why my food was still not ready. At this point, the employee wearing a cap, instead of speaking politely, became extremely rude. He said, “We don’t know about online order issues, call the owner.” I asked him to call the supervisor, but he repeated, “It’s your need, not mine, so I won’t call.” If your restaurant hires people without training them in customer service, this is the result. If you cannot manage online orders or do not have skilled staff for it, you should not be advertising online orders on Facebook. I have been a regular customer of your grocery and restaurant for the past four years. Starting today, I will boycott your business. I know my leaving alone won’t harm your business, but I am writing this so you are aware of how your employees behave. If you think keeping my $22 makes you wealthy, then so be it. I often give to the homeless; today I’ll consider you as one of them. May GOD bring you in front of me on the Day of Judgment—that is my prayer. Edit: This guy had the audacity to reach me on my social media from a fake profile and asked me to remove his photo or else he'll file a lawsuit. My guy thinks that he can't be filmed or photographed while he's working at a publicly open restaurant, he should learn the law. First of all he's rude and their owner is also encouraging these kind of money grabbing things and then they have this much courage of playing a victim card while he's treating me like that.
I was really looking forward to enjoying some good biryani, but this was a huge disappointment. The rice was dry and clearly stale—it tasted like it had been sitting out for a day or two. The flavors were completely off, and the meat was tough and chewy. Honestly, it felt like I was eating leftovers that had been reheated without any care. Not only that but the guys that work there are very rude and full of attitude. Would not recommend this place.
I ordered 4 fresh paratha with other dishes and they gave me cold, hard and overburned three days old paratha. I came home opened the foil and was so disappointed. I called multiple times and the line is purposely on busy mode not going through. After paying $50 takeout and not being able to eat peacefully is unacceptable. WHY IS THE FOOD QUALITY GOING DOWN? Can owner take a look at why this is happening.
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ Terrible Food Quality and Rude Service at Al-Aqsa Restaurant I had an awful experience at Al-Aqsa Restaurant (2107 Starling Ave, Bronx, NY) recently. I ordered several items, including Fried Chicken, Beef Biryani, Pastry, and a Sweet Box. While the Fried Chicken and Beef Biryani were decent when dining in, the real issue began with the Pastry. As soon as we tried it, there was a disgusting foul smell, clearly indicating it was spoiled. We immediately informed the staff and even threw it away right in front of them. Shockingly, they completely denied the issue and showed no concern whatsoever. The worst part came with the Sweet Box we took home. Once opened, we found it was completely spoiled. The sweets looked and smelled off, and it was obvious they were not fresh. We couldn’t even take a single bite and had to throw it straight into the trash. I called the restaurant to let them know about the problem, but they rudely denied it again and took no responsibility. This kind of careless and disrespectful behavior from a restaurant is unacceptable. Serving spoiled food and then blatantly refusing to acknowledge the issue shows a complete lack of customer care. I strongly advise everyone to think twice before eating here. It’s not worth the risk of getting sick from spoiled food.
