Authentic Mexican food finally. A great variety of flavors in so many dishes. I highly recommended. We live in the lower east side and it’s 100% worth the trip.

They’re sooooooooooooo good. Everything in this restaurant is made fresh and you can tell. All of the people who work here are lovely and obviously care a lot about the community. I’ve had the chilaquiles, the vegan mole verde, and the enchiladas. Absolutely try the chocolate, which is rich and spiced beautifully. Never disappoints.

We came to La Morada because of a positive review in a magazine. And we found the food to be extraordinary: Lamb Shanks with White Mole, Chile Relleno with Mole Oaxaqueño, meat balls with green olives inside, pumpkin soup, and more. Each evoked a "Wow, you have to taste this..." What we weren't prepared for was the quality of the hospitality; we felt as though we'd been invited to dinner by this family. What genuinely kind people they are, and how fortunate we felt to be dining in their restaurant.

Excellent food—fantastic mole!—nearly everything is gluten free, and the agua frescas were delicious as well. Even simple items like the rice and beans were very nicely done. Great service. Not a fancy interior, but very clean and the food is sooooooooooo good.

Quintessential Mott Haven fixture not to be passed by. Some of the best mole I've ever had Rich dark and earthy.

Such a special place! It offers traditional moles and other Mexican classics. The focus on Oaxacan cuisine is wonderful. Everyone here is so sweet, and their community work is incredible. A must visit!!!

La Morada is dangerous. After each meal there, you will find yourself craving nothing else for the rest of the week. It's sincerely one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city, and my only regret is that I do not live closer. Thank you for making such beautiful food, with love.

Delicious food, had al pastor tacos, white mole, and vegetable enchiladas. Really flavorful bites of food. As a Korean the white mole was a bit difficult for me to wrap my head around, since we make a dish similar to this but with totally different flavor. The horchata was fresh made (I don’t know how that is possible, but it was good), and limonata great as well. I came after watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix. The famed vegan squash flower tacos were not yet available as it is seasonal and they will appear roughly end of June through September. Can’t wait to come back and try those. Not the most modern dining area, very local feel which was appropriate of course, but I do wish a bit more attention was paid to interior, but like I said, great food and great service. Well worth checking out!

This Oaxacan spot has been on my list for a while and I was finally able to get up here. Not easy as they’re only open on weekdays and close at 5pm. It was well worth it though. Super friendly service and awesome food. They offer not just one but a variety of different moles. I got the less common Oaxaqueno mole and chicken which was a warming blend of seven chiles with a nice kick, perfect for a winter day. Served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas - all well prepared - it was a delicious and filling lunch.

La Morada is as satisfying as one can get for a community-oriented restaurant. I will acknowledge my bias since I've been coming here most of my life. I love the warm greetings from everyone in the family (who I consider family of my own). Not only do they take great care to address any dietary restrictions, but they remember your favorite orders and voice if you call/visit enough times. My go-to is the mole poblano or chile relleno, which blends a lot of the best characteristics of Mesoamerican food together. They also have amazing carnita tacos and nonalcoholic drinks. Don't forget to ask about some of the local social causes they are supporting, as they ran a full mutual aid pantry through the COVID-19 pandemic. All in all, this is a mainstay for our Mott Haven community.

A friend of mine was so excited ordering from them as an original Authentic Mexican food and we went to pick the food up. The lady was so generous kept adding more food for free while we were insisting on paying for the extras but she was super generous. We left the restaurant with a great vibe and a wonderful experience. Their original Mexican dishes are unmatched and we kept eating without stop until we finished the load of the food we bought. They are very good in their community and they donate lots of food. Super sweet people serving a great tasty food. I am totally hocked to that place from now on.

Always been sad that so few good authentic Mexican places exist in NYC and was excited to find this amazing spot with delicious Oaxacan food made with love. Worth the trip to the Bronx and we'll visit again soon.

Best mexican food in the Bronx. Family owned place with friendly staff. You can customize any dish. Food is very fresh and has the home (mom cooked) taste. You can definitely have any dish customized to your taste & the ingredients you want. I love to get a bean burrito with extra beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, & avocado. Absolutely delicious & made with love. My most favorite thing about the place is the home made sauces... Hot sauce, avocado/tomatillo sauce & sour cream sauce. They really bring out the flavor of the food. Btw no Tabasco nonsense...which i think is a insult to hot sauces.

This place is awesome. It’s a small hidden gem in the Bronx. It’s a family owned restaurant and it’s delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. They deserve their Michelin recommendation. They make their own mole sauce which is very hard to find. I love this small local restaurant. The food is delicious and I felt like I was in Mexico while eating here.

Excellent food and great/friendly service ! Decided to take the wife and some friends out and we all agreed that this place was indeed a "win" ! The Bistec Ranchero was fantastic and everything (steak, cactus, cheese, etc) was grilled properly. Do not hesitate to stop at this "real" neighborhood spot.

Can I go against the grain here and say it’s kind of overpriced? The prices aren’t what the menu says and the vegan food is very stingy. Also, heads up, in spite of the credit card signs it’s cash only. Yes, the food is good. Yes. The lady is wonderful. But still, overpriced for you’re getting.

Because of the owners' involvement and activism surrounding immigration/politics - plus some of the articles that I had read about La Morada's authentic Oaxacan cuisine - this restaurant had been bookmarked in my queue for quite some time. In searching for the perfect location for my Mexican Meetup group's December outing, this was the first venue that came to mind. Conveniently located about a five minute walk from the 6 train, La Morada offers its customers a full service meal served in a clean, relatively spacious, and bright environment. And, while I didn't find the service to be overly friendly or hospitable, it was cordial enough and very well paced. As a (somewhat pricey) addition to the delightful squeeze bottle trio filled with salsa rojo, salsa verde, and crema, I ordered a $10 cup of the unique vegan white mole to sample (using crispy tortilla chips as my vessel). Undeniably voluptuous and creamy, I preferred the thick, warm sauce blended with the other salsas versus enjoying it on its own. While the albondigas (meatballs) lunch special rendered drier beef than I had hoped, the balls were served within a shallow pool of delicious salsa that I sopped up using the accompanying homemade corn tortillas. For me, the unequivocal star of the show was the chile relleno platter, which was accompanied by homemade corn tortillas (for burrito-making purposes!). Do not miss this stick-to-your-ribs vegetarian entree (cheese-stuffed green chile that is breaded and fried and smothered with a chunky red salsa) that is plated with creamy black beans and saffron rice.

Food and people were great. Menu online says $12 for mole but when I got the check it was $30 for one plate of mole. That’s $30 with no meat and a one stuffed pepper with cheese. Very expensive for what you’re getting & I’m not going back for that reason. $30 bro for a plate of rice beans and a stuffed pepper, ridiculous

Food was good. We had Tlayuda carnitas, Adobo chicken Sopes skirt steak, Mole Oaxaqueño Tlayudas is definitely a must. Carnitas was fresh and tasty. Adobo sauce was very good chicken was overcooked cause seems it's precooked and not served to order same for the pork ribs, they were just dry and order kind of small for a main entree (3 small ribs per order) Sopes were good but not recommended if you are very hungry cause they are tiny sopes. Over all I think it's worth the trip but kind of expensive for a Bronx joint. Service was good.

The low rating is due to the business hours being open until 5pm, a long subway ride followed by a good hike only to be met with "we're closing in twenty minutes but you can get an order to go." It was about 2:40. We were looking forward to the Oaxacan mole, but this change in hours ruined that and probably means we will never make it back. If you try going call ahead to see if they are open, I guess.
