Great find! Watched Man U beat Arsenal 3.1. Staff were great - loads of banter just like the name suggests :)
Amazing staff. Make sure to make reservations for big matches. Great soccer bar!
Watched England v Tunisia here and the atmosphere was off the scale!! Great beer selection, including some European drafts
A great place to watch any soccer game. La Liga, epl, mls, you name it. Been going here for years and would swear by the staff and atmosphere
Great bar for craft beer and sports! If there’s a Futbol game they most likely have it on or would put it on for you!
Amazing bar for soccer and sports. Great beer and food. Owners and bartenders are the best.
Solid spot to watch the footie, i think they’re a tottenham pub because i saw a few white hart lane flags around. 90s kids would know what i’m talking about.
Very good place to watch sports and drink i. Recommend this plane i. Brooklyn n.y
Great beer selection, the man knows his beer. Bought a dope t-shirt, and I'll be back soon. Greetings from Colombia, and slaintè
Awesome soccer bar super nice staff. Put the Sounders game in for me at 10:30pm on a Sunday!!
Stopped in to watch the Tottenmen game. Nice bar. Was able to bring our kids in.
Best bar to watch soccer in NYC, hands down. Great beer selection, super friendly bartenders and loyal fans. Open for every match you need to watch
Easily the best soccer bar in the area. Banter shows everything from PL to Serie A. They host NYCFC and RBNY fans on away match days, along with several other supporters groups of different clubs in different leagues. The staff show an amazing commitment to their customers and are usually willing to show any match if you ask - unless there’s a scheduled watch party or big event. There is a full bar, small bites, paninis, two projector screens, three televisions, a foosball table, and a dartboard. World Cup days are massively packed, rowdy, and a hell of a lot of fun. Arrive early to get a place to see the screen. Banter is run by kind people who are knowledgeable about the game. I recommend this place to tourists and locals alike. You’ll be welcome here, no matter who you support.
Fun place to watch Premier/Champions League games in Brooklyn. Decent pint of Guinness in proper (UK) glasses. Extremely generous whiskey pour too!
Game here to watch the Manchester derby at 11:30am. Had a lovely few pints and a complimentary shot. Jonny Evans is a red
The staff served me in less than 2 minutes, even though a huge soccer (football) crowd had formed to watch the game. Very friendly. I will return. I believe Annie was my bartender. Ask for her.
Amazing service, good food & drinks (European pint sizes of beer) & best toilets in NYC
Banter is lit, it takes all kinds to start that fire early on weekends, but quiet most evenings if you're looking to miss all that. Foosball and Catan and wild taps to keep you on your toes. My only wish is that foosball table pays itself off and it's made to be free, get a real cult going. Shouts out to the generous hosts behind the bar. Fun and Human crew.
Fantastic bar with some delicious beers. Massive shout out to Corey who had great chat and gave us a fantastic restaurant tip. Pomp and circumstance was spot on. Great shout. Thank you!
Friendly bartenders, with a large selection of beer both on tap and on bottle. Prices can really not be beat, especially during the football matches. English pub vibe with the decor to match.
Arsenal played a flawless first half. High pressure. Excellent ball movement. Jesus and Odegaard connection is blossoming. Top it off with a Saliba top corner bender. We’ve got super Mik Arteta. And he knows just exactly what we need.
I love it here. it’s the best place to watch soccer in brooklyn. i don’t even want to tell people about it because i don’t want them coming here and taking up space. everyone that works here is the best person ever. i love it
Banter is my favorite bar in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is great, the people are great and the bartenders are really nice. Great place to hang out with friends or grab a drink by yourself
GREAT BAR, great beer selection, great soccer atmosphere. Meet up there with the BVB fan club, Brooklyn Borussen. Our home away from home.
My hubby and I co-host an annual Halloween party here with our friends. It’s their favorite local bar. We’re almost never in Brooklyn, but when we are, Banter is always a welcoming spot.
Great place for watching European football games, great atmosphere and fans, fine beers and cool staff, 3 or 4 big screens with different games simultaneously, preferred by football level, don't expect any French football game there on Saturday
Best sports bar in the world.. Ok not the world, but it is a great sports bar with a great crew. Come on over and enjoy a pint and a game..
American “soccer” fans are hilarious. say things like “push it” and “Kai havertz sucks” and think everything is a foul, expressed by saying CANT DO THAT. Loved it
Great beer, great vibe. It's the best place around to watch soccer.
Great service, food and beer selection. Atmosphere is welcoming. Owners are class acts making you want come back again and again.
Great spot to catch a casual game of soccer, or be a part of a football nation. Very good selection of beer, and they even have classic cocktails lol
Great people, great games, great beers. Banter breathes the beautiful game. You can start your day at 7am in England, glide into the Bundesliga (shoutout Brooklyn Borussen), and reach noon with the European top games. Catch the 2pm LaLiga game to lead you into MLS time and finish with the superclasico. All in a days work. The menu is limited, but the fine assortment of sausages or the prosciutto panini can hold you over a few games. It gets crowded for the big teams but always fun. Hands down the best footy bar in Brooklyn.
this place is a gem - looking a spot in NYC for watch the Spanish La Liga for years and now found it. The Venezuelan waiter is an absolute star and treated us amazingly
Great as a soccer bar and great as a regular bar. The staff are all incredibly nice. For soccer, there's no official team affiliation, though Red Bulls, NYCFC, Tottenham, Arsenal, and USMNT are all well represented among the regulars. Great beer selection that rotates frequently and some nice twists on bar food.
We recently went here during the World Cup to watch England v Sweden. Got so busy the doors were locked at 08.30! Was absolutely packed but these guys can handle it. Amazing atmosphere and these guys really know how to put on a show. Top drawer!
We stumbled on this place totally randomly. They were quick to invite us in to watch the game, and it was a really fun, friendly vibe.
great bar. very futbol and soccer soccer ⚽.. but a cool crowd. no face paint and foam hands
My top favorite bar to watch soccer. Lovely crowd that really get you in the moment. Well priced beers and quick service. Anytime I need a place to meet with friends to watch a Game we got to banter.
Among the places I will miss most after moving away, Banter is an elegant public house-style bar. In a neighborhood that can be obnoxiously trendy, Banter stands among a select few bars that feel built on quality, warmth, friendliness. Great, rotating tap. Good whiskey / bourbon selection. Excellent for morning soccer or late-night conversation.
Excellent place to watch soccer when in NYC. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and nice selcetion of beers. Watched Chelsea v Villa Dec. 2024
Loved this bar! I was there on a Sunday at the tail end of a soccer game and the vibe was really fun! There are several TVs and big screens, so I see why it's ideal for game watching. We ended up talking to quite a few people while we were there - it attracts a good crop of people! They have quite a few staple promotional programs like playing Game of Thrones on Sunday nights which is fun. They have some European beers on tap that I've never seen before, but really enjoyed. I will for sure be back!
Good selection of beers. Small sized, yet filling options for food. Service was top notch for our group of 8 in the outdoor area. Place wasn't busy which may have been a reason for the availability of staff to meet us. I would return especially to catch a variety of soccer (football) matches.
Great bar in Brooklyn, it is a soccer bar but not really for any one club and on Saturdays you will see a plethora of different club shirts coming and going from early. Awesome drinks, good food and most importantly friendly long time bar staff.
Great, friendly bar with a fantastic selection of beers, IPA's and lager. Loads of screens for watching proper football (soccer) and have pretty much show every match if its available. A definite stop off for UK football fans if you're desperate to watch a match.
I like the vibe here, really chilled and relaxed. Everyone here seems to understand the idea of just having a good time, and best of all very friendly (not talking about the staff). The bar can get super packed, so get there early, especially if Liverpool is playing. I've been to only one football bar in Brooklyn, and this place is good enough for me not to visit another.
Now this is a top place for a proper pint of Guinness, excellent service and really friendly vibe - staff & clientele. A real plus, when visiting the area - unlike some other places! Highly recommend if you want to watch a premier league match. Enjoy!!
The best bar in the neighborhood. Their constantly rotating beer menu has a wide variety of brews for any palette. They have a solid food menu (mushroom panini is top) which is available late. They will also play just about any televised sport if you ask nicely. The staff is also incredibly kind and attentive. Do not skip this pub!
Excellent mix of night life and quiet comfort. You can have a party and a conversation at the same time! The staff is the best in town and the beer selection might be as well. If you're a soccer fan this is your place. There's no team allegiance so all fans are welcome. If you're not a soccer fan... most games are in the morning so this is still your place.
Great bar in the heart of Williamsburg! Games, TV’s, ample seating both indoor and outdoor. Lively atmosphere right on the corner. Bartender made us a lemon drop even though not on the menu, and he made it with fresh lemon. Small efforts to go the extra mile make a big difference in the dining experience. Highly recommend!!
Great outdoor setup with TVs and speakers. Pretty large menu for a sports bar. And lots of options for draft beers, cans, bottles, and wine - even non alcoholic options. Fun place to watch a game!
This place is awesome. The bartender/owner was super friendly, knowledgeable about beers, and willing to give people samples. They have 24 taps with a lot of interesting variety. As I ate a nice vegetarian curry pie and sipped on a somewhat locally brewed (NY state) Belgian style ale, I thought I might really enjoy living in Williamsburg.
Long overdue review of this gem :) Best place in all of New York to watch premier league games. The team behind the bar is amazing. Awesome selection of beers, spirits etc and if you get hungry they make very good sausages! But even if you don’t come here to watch a game you’ll still have a good time.
Great soccer and sports bar. They will put on any game you want. Good beer menu, $8 beers. It's one of my favorite bars to go to after dinner if you want to keep the conversation going with friends. Service was patience and kind to us both times I went this month.
Easily the best football pub in the boroughs. Great beer selection on tap, fair prices, and lively atmosphere. Added bonus: Wednesday night trivia. Worth stopping by.
Excellent and varied selection of domestic/import beer, great staff, and a great atmosphere to catch a game/drink.
Great sports bar with a love for soccer and beer. Banter has so many beers on tap or bottled. They have a small food menu and the bartenders are great and usually knowledgeable on helping with your beer selection. Also find it cool that they have a collection of soccer scarves from local and international teams. If there's a big game, make sure you arrive early cause it can get crowded.
Great soccer bar. No frills, good tap, open for early morning game with a solid cup of coffeeready for you. Friendly staff of football lovers. Just go there and enjoy. PL, Serie A, Bundesliga and Champions off course
Really appreciated the great service that our group received, unfortunately we didn’t get to try the food but the beer was great!
They were so kind and put on the sdfc game on! Asked them earlier in the day if they were going to put it on and they said we will definitely put it on and add audio. Banter bar so clutch
Great bar for footie watching!! Highly recommend. Don't expect much for veggie folks who don't like fake meat. Get there 15-20 mins before your game and you'll get seats for sure.
Great bar to watch Premier League if you can get a spot
best place for a soccer pub in town. great staff, friendly people. immaculate vibe. the food is significantly underrated as well (sandwiches & pretzel both gas), and they know how to pour a guinness 🙏🏼
I recently had my birthday at Banter. I first started going to banter to watch matches around two years ago and it’s definitely one of the best neutral bars in Brooklyn, largely in part due to the people it attracts! Everyone is friendly and excited without being too rowdy or rude. The staff is great as well, always working hard and happy to help. The food is also excellent—my boyfriend and I often stop in while we’re in the area to just grab a bite to eat. When I started to plan my birthday party, I knew I would have a hard time finding a decent spot in Brooklyn on a Saturday night with enough space, a good atmosphere, and without a huge fee. I reached out to a bunch of places, but Banter immediately became the clear choice. Chris, who I believe is the owner, was fast to respond and let me reserve the back tables without any type of minimum spend or deposit. My friends all loved coming to check out the bar, the space was great, and it was the perfect option. I love Banter for both sports and socializing and recommend it to anyone in the area!
We came here to watch the Red Bulls play in the MLS cup. We are Columbus Crew fans from out of town, and it just happened that they were playing while we were there. The place was full of soccer fans of all kinds of teams, including rival teams. People were generally polite and not pushy. The bartenders were excellent. There was so much commotion and so many people in a small space, but they handled it very well. We got some vegan sausage and a pretzel, both were excellent, at least as far as bar food is concerned. Show up early to get a seat though!
This bar by far has the best staff in the neighborhood and maybe even the city. Banter has brilliantly captured a welcoming, warm, cozy yet spacious atmosphere for all sports fans alike. Obviously the best pub for footy in the city. But don’t count out catching other big games here for different sports! Whether you’re looking for live sports, conversation, board games, darts, or a solid trivia night (2nd & 4th Wednesdays), this is truly a gem for all who enter. The food is great as well as the extensive whiskey list and great beer tap. Bring your friends but don’t bring too many because this is my favorite spot.
This is a great Irish bar! And they love futbol!!! Or do you call it soccer? Six screens dedicated to the greatest game in the world. Plus artwork throughout the walls of great players throughout history - Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona and "The Hand of God"... Luis Suarez too... And in case I was not sure of the futbol fandom the urinals left no doubt about it. Freaking awesome - Goooooooollll
Visiting NY and needed to keep up with the Premier League back home. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with a great selection of drinks on tap. Couple of screens around the bar, and they have the sound is ON during the games. A great phrase printed on their custom scarfs “Football never sleeps”. I can drink to that!
Good beers, nice atmosphere, nice people. No dessert, but they so serve food. They do have foosball table. I found them as part of a meetup.
I read this was the best soccer bar in Brooklyn. I wasn't impressed by it but it's still a nice bar to check out in Brooklyn maybe it is the best soccer bar in Brooklyn? I haven't checked out the competition...
What a great place! We only had drinks but next time we will have food too. Friendly and accommodating staff.
Great place to catch football (soccer) games while enjoying some beers and pub food like kielbasa, sandwiches, savory pies. They do seen short staffed, unfortunately, so the service at times was very slow, but hey these are tricky times.
Larger than most bars. Plenty of screens for Premier League football. Reasonable selection of beer.
Amazing spot for watching futbol and insanely good selection of brews. Too many Liverpool fans tho.
This place is nothing to write home about, but it's a damn solid find. It's a pretty typical pub. The food isn't gourmet, but it's perfectly acceptable at a pretty reasonable price. And they have a few vegan options, which is useful in an area that we found surprisingly lacking in that area. Perhaps we had higher expectatons, being used to the availability in Philly. The beer selection is great, and the bartender I met was extremely knowledgeable on the available brews. It's a spot that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, and that's refreshing in an area absolutely saturated with mediocre chefs trying to pass their meals off as gourmet.
Great atmosphere was one of a fee places I was able to see the great game of football. Atmosphere was wonderful, I had a bottle cider. We stopped off on our way from the station before checking in.
This is a great bar if you like watching soccer/football and a decent one if you don't. They have an OK beer selection but no great, prices are good for the area 6-9$ per draft. I think cans are cheaper. The food is decent but the portions aren't big so don't expect to be filled up from one panini or pie. They also do trivia nights which are fun and not like any other bar trivia I've been to, mostly due to the MC being a very strange, funny character. I'd say the biggest con is that the credit card system was down the last two times I was here, making it cash only. Not a big deal but they do advertise as accepting cards so for the first time patron that can be a downside. Overall, a nice place to spend a morning/afternoon/evening with fellow football fanatics, the bartender/owner included.
This bar is a good place to drink and watch TV. There was a Bloody Mary special the time I was there. Also, a buddy of mine went there to eat with me and the food was delicious. This was during the time of the Olympics where there was a good selection of TV there to watch different sports. Would definitely come back to drink again.
Great place to go grab a pint, some food and catch a game! Limited options on menu but the sausage platter I tried for lunch was very good. Proper pour on a Guinness too.
Great place!!! Owners were two lovely guys who welcomed myself and my family as if we had been coming here for years. Good food and quick service and a very clean little pub. Great place to watch a Spurs game. Would have just liked to have had more food options but the panini we did get was very good. Thanks for a nice afternoon guys and look forward to seeing you again.
Came for trivia Wednesday 8pm, its quite loud and hard to hear and the trivia questions are answered on paper. Less crowded than other trivia bars if you come early enough to snag a seat or make a reservation. Food options are limited to sausages, pretzels. Mostly serves beer. The vibe is just a local sports bar
Up there as one of the best spots to watch football in Brooklyn. I messaged their Instagram ahead of time and asked if they were playing a certain match and got back quite quickly with a response which was a nice bonus. They have all the games on and partition the TV’s to play one major game on one side of the bar and the other games on the adjacent, I asked if I could have one of the French league games on and the barman got one of the smaller TV’s switched over to it for me which was cool. Service itself is really friendly, I keep getting the same guy every time I go on the Saturday afternoons and he’s really accommodating, there isn’t really a food menu except bar snacks but they do have 4 types of Sausages like Argentinian Chorizo or Bratwurst and they taste really good, but don’t expect a full kitchen menu.
They have German beer and Bundesliga on. Projector was kind of small and atmosphere was not much.
Great for watching footbal (soccer)! Has games hard to find elsewhere, okay beer selection too. Could get 4 stars if snacks/food was better.
Not much to say about this, it’s your run of the mill neighborhood dive bar. However, the fooseball table in the back is an added bonus and can be a great way to connect with other patrons. What surprised me was that this bar was almost empty on a Wednesday night.
Eh, didn't love this place. Went on a Wednesday night, which would explain why it was nearly empty, but overall I didn't get great service from the bartender, and the whole place had a bit of a weird smell to it. But the beer list wasn't bad, and if you love soccer, this would be a solid place to go hang.
Their cocktails are so weak. I went there with a little buzz had two cocktails (dark stormy spicy I believe) and sobered up. What a let down. My friend however being an intelligent person on the second drink ordered a double shot. The service is excellent.
They claim to be a soccer bar, yet when I went there to watch the world champions, Argentina, they could not get it on the TV. Demonstrates clearly that they are Premier League geeks that don’t know shit about the game.
The owner was racist towards my friend— he wouldn’t accept her state ID because it had "Chinese characters" on it (it is also written in English) but accepted mine (I am White British). I asked him for more information to clarify and he told me he was not allowed to take ID that was not issued by the state. Once again, my friend's ID was state-issued– when pressed, he said "I can't understand this" because it's 'in Chinese' (once again– it is written in English, too). We left and were very disappointed by the experience, and won't be returning. If you want to watch football there are friendlier (and better quality) bars up the road.
I was there yesterday for a game and ordered a bunch of drinks and food when all of a sudden I tried ordering 2 more drinks and the bartender asks me if I closed out already because he doesnt see my card. I told him no and he says well i dont see your name here and we dont have your card. I explained to him that I gave my card when I started ordering and I never closed it or got my card back. There should be no reason they dont have it. He simpy says we dont have your card are you sure you dont have it and forgot? Thats when I got upset and told him to keep looking and to ask the other bartenders. I couldnt believe he was trying to act as if I had the card and misplaced it. He starts looking around and they finally realize that one of the bartenders gave my card to another person and closed me out. Not only was this a huge inconvenience but to act as if I misplaced my card and trying to blame it on me was ridiculous! They gave me a half ass apology and simply said to write my number down and they'd call me if they happen to get my card back. Showing no sympathy whatsoever, not even offering to cover the rest of the night or at the very least offer shots or anything for the huge mix up they made. Will never go back there again! They need to learn to be more professional and somehow compensate the customer when they made such a huge mistake!
