Gorgeous cocktail bar. Had some sharing plates (cheese fries, beef tartare and tuna) and drinks. Great music and amazing ambience. Service was a bit slow sometimes but really friendly staff
Everything was great — the cocktails were really delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant! the only thing we noticed was that the waitress seemed a bit less engaged in her service & she spoke very quietly and didn’t seem very interested in giving recommendations or making an effort to connect with us. sometimes it feels a bit disappointing to leave a tip when the service doesn’t reflect the overall quality of the place especially since the staff are the face of the establishment just sharing this as kind feedback — we truly enjoyed our time overall and wish you continued success!
Cleanest martini I’ve had in a while. It’s not on the menu but until 6pm the deux chats martini is $13. Great balance of gin and brine, such that people who aren’t gin fans would still enjoy this. I’ll be back to try the other martinis.
What a completely lovely and comfortable hidden gem of a bar in Williamsburg. Beautiful space with a relaxed but joyous vibe. Bartenders were friendly and mixed some gorgeous drinks. Some good non alcoholic cocktails as well. Didn't try the food but the seafood towers looked amazing. I'd have a drink here anytime.
truly incredible experience. the cocktails were absolutely delicious. the seafood was fresh and the service was incredible. can’t remember the servers names but there was a person with a huge gorgeous afro and a person with a shaggy cut with green in the back- both INCREDIBLE. me and my partner will be back and I hope this spot stays open for a very long time. ✨
Wow- what a gem of a place. First, shout out to Austin behind the bar! He provided such outstanding service and well crafted martinis! He really made our experience 10x better :) The vibes inside are so cute! Great spot for a small group of friends, date night or solo outing. The martinis were so so good. The one with the pickled onion surprised me and was extremely delicious! The oysters were yummy as well I will most certainly be back! Hope it's when Austin is working:)
I had the best experience here for my birthday. I made a reservation for a group of 12 and it was the perfect setting for martinis and oysters. Our server was amazing. She was so cute and attentive, amazing energy. The price for a group reservation was so affordable, anywhere else would have been double the price. This place is such a gem. I can't say enough good things about it.
Perfect for a date, with amazing food for a great value: $40 for 3 plates! We paid an extra $5 for the lobster roll and it was so worth it.
The best cocktails and atmosphere! Don’t skip on food, great appetizers. Love crab dip and oysters are super fresh and delicious.
Spirit forward cocktails, oysters, and small plates. Go for drinks - not a dinner. Vibrant scene with several contained, candle-lit seating areas. Great spot for a date, and a welcome reinvention of the space that was formerly the celebrated cocktail bar Donna.
Quite possibly the best seafood tower we’ve had in all of NYC. Everything was exceptionally fresh, really tasty and had great accompaniments. The rolls and butter were amazing, airy puffs. I only wish they served more than 3 in an order. My partner got a mock tail and I got one of the cocktails that was very large. They were good but it seemed like their focus was more about the martinis. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and definitely reminded us of many of the restaurants we went to when we lived in Paris. Definitely would go back again for our next celebration!
Great spot! We love fradei and go there frequently. This is a fun extension of our favorite restaurant. The bread is fresh!
This place is truly a hidden gem. The martinis are crafted to perfection, the food is flavorful and beautifully presented, and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming or attentive. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and has a vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. Whether you’re here for a casual night out or a special occasion, this spot really delivers on all fronts.
First time here on a Sunday afternoon had great happy hour specials one dollar oysters, which was awesome and really beautiful ambience. Sierra was our server. She was very welcoming from the moment we walked in and later got extremely busy as she was the only person on staff serving a full house with one bartender Who is also wonderful, but I didn’t catch his name. Wanted to shout her out because of Her professionalism kindness and positive attitude. Will definitely be back again!
My favorite cocktail bar in Williamsburg. Great martinis and oysters! The vibe is nice and uunpretentious like many other NYC cocktail bars.
I have nothing but great things to say about Deux Chats! I booked a reservation for 15 people for my birthday, and we had such a lovely time. Our server, Kayla, was amazing and so attentive. We enjoyed the martini tower and seafood bites—they were very reasonably priced for a big group. The music and atmosphere were also great. I’ll definitely be back!
My boyfriend and I came here on New Years Eve and had an amazing time. The food was amazing and had a few unique menu options that we haven’t seen at other restaurants (we’re big Italian food people). Vibes of the restaurant were great, they decorated it nicely for the holiday and the dark lighting set the mood. To top it off, our waiter Christopher was ELECTRIC. I believe he was new to the restaurant, but he truly made our experience amazing from checking in on us constantly, giving menu recommendations, and keeping a smile on his face, it’s safe to say that we’ll be coming back!
One of the better Italian restaurants in Brooklyn. It's fairly dark inside, making it feel like a speak easy with a nicely stocked bar. The waitress was very knowledgeable and was able to address dietary concerns. Going early is a great thing to do since this restaurant gets packed and at times requires a reservation. Going earlier will mean families, but as the night goes on, more couples show up making it more of a location to bring dates. Street parking can be found but be patient; there is a lot of traffic going around the neighborhood. The grandma pizza is very good; everything is also excellent... However we had difficulty determining which favor was which for the ice cream!
Can’t believe I just discover this restaurant! Everything we ordered was so delicious—highly recommend the brussel sprouts and meatballs, just so good! Also, the chicken parm and mushroom linguine were some of the best we’d had since coming back from Italy! Service was so smooth and the ambiance of the dim lights, classy decor, and great menu options just made our special occasion dinner even more memorable.
I will say that sometimes the food comes out cold, which I'm not sure if it's because they keep it sitting for a while or if it's being lazily prepared. However, the taste is definitely fantastic and I can't rave enough about the grandma pizza they have! The crust is great, and if you try the vodka sauce on it, it pairs with the bread so perfectly. I would also recommend the garlic bread with burrata as that was also a highlight for appetizers!
10/10 food, service, and atmosphere. We came here for our anniversary and it was truly a magical experience. Our servers were super kind and attentive. The music and ambiance were perfect. And the FOOD? Phewww on another level. Our favorites were Nonna’s Rainbow Pie, the meatballs, and of course the rainbow cookie sundae. This is the perfect spot for a date night and some of the best Italian food we’ve had in Brooklyn.
I would totally recommend! The service is great, food is fresh, simple and well prepared. We had a mix of appetizers and pasta, which was perfectly cooked! The wine and cocktail selection is just what you need!
Came here with friends and for sure will definitely be back. Everything was so good. Love that everything is made in house. The meatballs...I dont think ive ever tasted something so delicious. My friends and I shared the Rainbow Cookie Sunday. It's a must for sureeee. Also the staff was so friendly and so funny
We have come here a couple times and have had nothing sort of an excellent experience every time! They have all sorts of great deals from their $15 Pasta Tuesdays to their happy hour every day until 630, but even their regular menu is very well priced and full of flavor in every section! We got their eight dollar martinis which are available all of July and our expertly made and we got this amazing corn and pancetta stuffed pasta. Even if you don’t like pancetta or a very smoky flavor, it’s very mild and you should absolutely get it as the corn is in peak season and really fresh. The chicken Parm we got with vodka sauce with gigantic, and we only finished half of it and it came with a side of incredible homemade pasta. This might be the most underrated Italian restaurant in the city!
An amazing time here, food was excellent, we had a pizza with pesto, vodka and marinara, really good, sourdough makes the difference and cooked perfectly, the meatballs were a great appetizer as well, sauce was perfect and honestly the meatballs were seasoned nicely and not dry. Shared the arugula salad and asked to have in a ceaser style dressing that was really good, good portion to share with 2 people and then there was the sourdough garlic bread with burratta on top...wow..amazingly delicious. Cooked perfectly the garlic, pesto and taste of the bread was super on point, I really can't wait to go back but if your in the neighborhood and want to eat good Barano is a perfect spot. I can't end it without saying the service was great as well. Everyone is attentive and helpful, it made the meal that much more pleasurable.
Always leave Barano very full and satisfied, with solid apps, great salads, excellent pasta and pizza, and don't miss dessert. The bone marrow pasta appetizer is the best mac and cheese you never knew you needed in your life and the Brussels sprouts salad is phenomenal. Chef Al is constantly changing the menu seasonally so every visit you can try something new. All 4 pastas and the nduja pizza were insanely delicious. He was the opening chef of Rubirosa and has now been in South Williamsburg for almost a decade. You can also order Barano to go for delivery in Manhattan!
Always have the BEST experience at Barano. Every bite is packed with TLC, you can tell the chefs put love into every dish and that all dishes are very fresh/homemade. Incredible gluten free options. Fair pricing. Chef/owner previously worked at Rubirosa so lots of Rubirosa dishes here (taste better at Barano in our opinion). Great music and ambiance. Service is superb - staff are so incredibly kind/wholesome (you can tell each member of the staff want you to have a great experience). We look forward to eating at Barano each visit and it feels like coming home ❤️
Fantastic dinning experience in Williamsburg here! Everything from the kitchen to table quick as rock! Seafoods highly recommended so fresh just like come out to the water. Must try grilled octopus!! Pastas no.1 option is Bucatani nero! Plus they get gluten free versions for everything. The service is the best, friendly and attentive. Seating is so comfortable with good vide! Summer outdoor near waterside what can be more amazing! Kids friendly as well cause their pizzas are from stone oven with good quality ingredients. I will definitely come back and try out entire menu!!
I visited this bar about a month ago, and overall the experience was good. The martini cocktails were well-made, and the food was enjoyable. The atmosphere itself is pleasant and definitely makes for a nice evening out. That being said, the biggest disappointment was the state of the restroom. There’s one unspoken rule — if you want to know how much a place respects its customers, just check the restroom. Unfortunately, it was terrible: the smell, the dirty sinks… it completely took away from the otherwise good impression. I understand that perhaps you were aiming to create a French-inspired atmosphere, but cleanliness is non-negotiable.
Overall, it was a decent spot, went on a Monday and you definitely are better off with a reservation as it was packed! The food was well below average - shrimp cocktail tasted like laundry detergent but the carb dip and ricotta slapped. Cocktails were lovely, very easy to drink.
The loveliest of cocktail bars in BK. The atmosphere is very classic NYC. The martinis are all delicious and the seafood towers are impressive. The espresso martini is one of the best I’ve ever had! This place tends to fill up so I highly recommend a reservation. The perfect setting for a date night! The ambiance is dark and intimate. My only complaint is sometimes the service is rather slow. And when it is full it is so loud you can barely hear the people you are with.
Food 8/10 A homey and traditional Italian spot located south of Williamsburg. I thought the appetizers were better than the main, and the tiramisu was stellar too - dare I say even the star of the show. The prosciutto was nice to start with, and I quite enjoyed the chewiness of the focaccia. The saffron pasta was quite interesting, although a little too watery for my preference. Atmosphere 8/10 Soft and dim lighting, a relatively large interior, and plenty of great conversations. Dark wooden surfaces, elegant and nothing too fussy. Service 8/10 Our host gave us great thoughts on the different cocktails, very friendly and solid experience overall.
Our entire order was served at once. No one wants their cocktail, appetizer and entrée at the same time. Service etiquette can be better observed. The food itself is standard at best considering the other Italian options within that 3 block radius. On a positive note, the ambiance is inviting and cozy.
I have mixed feelings about this place. While they specialize in wine and offer only six cocktails on the menu, the food was a bit of a rollercoaster. Here's what I tried: - Warm Mozzarella: Excellent! Fresh, creamy, and perfectly paired with cherry tomatoes and pizza bianca. - Grilled Prawns: Just okay. The prawns were decent, but the accompanying cannellini beans didn't complement the dish well. I'd probably skip it. - Margherita Pizza: Unfortunately, a big letdown. The crust tasted like cardboard, and overall, it was highly disappointing. - Saffron Gigli: An absolute standout! Easily one of the best pastas I've ever had. The flavors were well-balanced, with a light spicy kick and a hint of sweetness. Truly delicious and worth coming back for. If I return, it'll definitely be for the pasta. The other dishes didn't quite hit the mark for me.
The servers and bartenders were great. Nice drink menu as well. The shrimp cocktail I ordered had just 4 pieces of shrimp for an outrageous price. Almost all the food here was priced too high, french fries were $11. Probably won't come back for that reason alone.
We had an 8:30 reservation and showed up early at 8 to grab a drink at the bar while waiting for the table. We didn’t get seated until 9:15. Once we finally sat down, our waitress didn’t come over for another 20 minutes. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and pasta. Drinks and apps eventually came out, but then… nothing. After sitting for over an hour, we noticed tables that were seated after us already getting their pasta, the place clearing out, while our main dish was nowhere to be found, and our waitress was nowhere to be seen. We finally asked another waitress (who was actually very kind and helpful) to check, and she found out our pasta never got made because “the system glitched” and the cooks never received the order. Which apparently “happens often”. At that point, we skipped the pasta completely, it had already been way too long. We ended the night with the rainbow cookie dessert, which was the only highlight; it was amazing. But the rest of the experience was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. You can see in the background of the picture below that the restaurant is completely empty by the time we finally got our dessert. Not a single apology, and nothing done to make up for the long wait and total lack of service. Definitely won’t be back.
