This is a great NY-style premium steakhouse. Great atmosphere (if you like this kind of thing). Its packed and loud. Everyone there seems to be celebrating something big. The steak is legit great. So were the sides and apps.
Went to Benjamin Steakhouse Prime in Midtown, Manhattan, NYC near grand central station. Party of 6 with reservations. Chilled at the bar for a bit till we were interested in sitting down at a table. Got the bartender immediately and he made phenomenal drinks for us which came out quickly. Used the coat check which was handy. Seated immediately when we were ready. Chairs were super comfy and slid out easily. We ordered many dishes to share: apps, entrees, sides, dessert, drinks. They gave us complimentary port to finish the evening. Service was top notch: staff appeared immediately without being summoned to take away dirty plates, top us off, ask us about the meals, etc. A few minor drawbacks: food too salty. Meat cooked medium well to well be medium. Also the seafood tower was impossible for some of us to reach in the middle of the table. We weren't rushed as we were constantly chatting. Staff asked us about our experience several times. Highly recommend. We'll be back. Despite overcooked meat, it was quite good and tender and didn't need any steak sauce.
Visited NYC and utilizing my Marriott Vacation Club points vouchers and stopped or lunch. I ordered from the prix fix menu and there was a nice variety to choose from. I had the house soup~ medium well steak ~ ice cream as dessert. The staff were friendly & attentive, the rest rooms were clean. Unika B. & Co.
It’s very hard choice to choose which steakhouse to go when visited NY. So many nice places but we ended up here and no regrets! We definitely went with Porterhouse for 2. There’s no side provided for free with the porterhouse. You can order them individually. We went with sautéed seasonal mushroom with truffles. For the appetizer, something we praised them all the time - their Duo Tartare! It was so so so goood. Made our tummy rumbled with joy before the starred dish came. No doubt for the porterhouse. So juicy, chewy (for the tenderloin) and seasoning well. We finished it all without adding any sauce to it. Reviewing this now makes me want to go to the place offering porterhouse rn! 😋
I’ve been here several times and really enjoy the dry-aged steak (medium rare). The appetizers — bacon, mozzarella & tomato, and the onion soup — as well as the main filet mignon and the cake were all delicious. There are many other options available too. They also have a great selection of wines. The service was excellent, and the timing of each dish was perfect. They also have private rooms, so it’s possible to host a party for around 15 people. It was a great experience overall.
We came here to celebrate my sisters birthday on New Years Day. Bez the waiter was knowledgeable and professional., He gave suggestions on food portion sizes based on the amount of people that were at our table. When the food was served he was nice enough to put the food on everyone’s plate. This is a 2 floor steakhouse that’s located on East 40st And they have another location on 41st St. around the corner. The kitchen connects the 2 restaurants from one block to the next. They have a few private rooms if you want to have privacy while you eat. On the 2nd floor they have a movie project if you want to come here to host an event for your business.
We ate here for my husband’s birthday. It was absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable. Our server Madison was on point on everything she told us. We had a porterhouse for 2 and some delicious sides( creamed corn, lobster Mac and cheese, and sautéed spinach.) One was better than the next. Our glasses were never empty and our plates were always clean. I would completely recommend this restaurant. Oh and key lime pie was out of this world..
My husband took me for my birthday and we had a wonderful experience here. Our waitress Madison was excellent! I felt like having one of their seafood dinners and she suggested the Seabass, and I'm so glad she did, it was so good!! The food was perfect from the preparation to the service of it. We will be back!!
Benjamin Prime in NYC is a standout in the city’s crowded steakhouse scene, blending impeccable service with top-tier cuisine. The restaurant’s atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between upscale sophistication and a welcoming, intimate vibe, making it ideal for both business dinners and special occasions. The steak, the undeniable star of the menu, is cooked to perfection, offering a range of cuts that satisfy both traditional and adventurous palates. Beyond the steak, the menu features an array of sides and starters that are equally impressive, demonstrating a commitment to quality and flavor across the board. The staff’s attention to detail and proactive service elevates the dining experience, ensuring that every visit is memorable. And for a truly special end to your meal, the affogato is to die for, blending the rich warmth of espresso with the cool creaminess of ice cream in a way that’s both luxurious and comforting. In summary, Benjamin Prime is a must-visit for steak aficionados and anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience in NYC.

Saw something on Instagram saying this was a good place for restaurant week. So we booked a reservation for the fan to come check it out. It’s been a while since we’d been to a proper steakhouse so we were excited to try it. Our normal go to is Lugers and Benjamin immediately drew immediate comparisons. First, their logo makes you think they come from a common heritage. But the similarities end there. Whereas Lugers feels like some Bavarian cottage, Benjamin’s dark and sleek city vibe hits you as soon as you walk in. Lugers waiters are known for their almost gruff mannerisms, the waiters at Benjamin are more traditionally high touch service oriented. Note that we had to ask for the restaurant week menu after the initial confusion of receiving their big regular menu book. This is probably why it was on insta - for $60pp you get 4 courses. The cut that’s included is their sirloin with a $10 upcharge for filet and $20 upcharge for bone in ribeye. We tried them all. First, you get the delicious warm bread with truffle butter. For apps, we ordered Brussels sprouts - very good, lobster bisque - tasty with good lobster bits, octopus - good but not particularly memorable, bacon - which basically speaks for itself. Sirloin - presented on a sizzling platter and served to your plate, with a basting of the hot beef juices. The filet and ribeye were just served on a platter. Sirloin was solid - just a good portion of a beefy steak. The filet was super tender as expected but its usual neutral ish (for steak) taste. The ribeye, however, was worth the upcharge. It definitely had the best flavor due to its marbling. And it felt like you got a ton of meat. For sides we got fries (the nice long steak fries), mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, which were all just ok. For dessert, we tried the cheesecake and chocolate pie - which were good but probably could have just been bought from somewhere. We got a bottle of house red wine, which for some reason went straight to all our heads. All in all, a pretty solid experience for restaurant week. Definitely would consider returning for the ribeye, not going to lie.
We visited here on a Friday night and took advantage of the restaurant week menu which was a great deal ($60 for 3 courses). We had an early table at 6pm but within half an hour the restaurant really started to fill up. We went with the calamari and bacon starters. The calamari was not what I was expecting (I was expecting deep fried but I should have read the menu properly) but was tasty nonetheless. The bacon was a little fatty for me but I think that is just the nature of the dish. We both went for steaks for our main course and these were cooked nicely, although nothing standout or amazing. For sides we had the Brussels and the mashed potatoes, these were both really good and would highly recommend. Finally, I had the mousse cake for dessert and my other half had the carrot cake. Both of these were delicious, although we were too full to finish. All in all I would say this is a solid steakhouse. Would I return? Probably not as there are so many steakhouses in NYC, but I also wouldn’t advise anyone against going.

Food was just okay. Not what you expect from a steakhouse of this caliber and price at all. Service...they barely tried. No have you eaten here before, here's what is special about our steaks, our menu. No recommendations. It was like pulling teeth to get any guidance. Though I was wanting steak. But if the server isn't going to try to sell a 100 dollar steak, I'm not going to buy a 100 dollar steak.
Okay. I am by no means a critic of all, but this is my experience based on three different dining occasions: two reservations and one walk-in. Reception: The reception is handled by two or three young ladies who are somewhat uncaring and not too inviting upon first arrival. Meh. Attitude! The ambiance: The dining room is warm, charming, and clean. However, my walk-in table was stained and didn’t look like it had been cleaned before I was seated. The waiting: The waitpersons are friendly and helpful but not genuinely knowledgeable about the steak selection, aging process, time, and sourcing. The same goes for the wine. The wine list is helpful. The service varies by waiter. Some are attentive, and others are just distracted chatting with other staff. The menu: The menu is typical, with various poultry, seafood, and steak dishes. Since this restaurant is known for steaks, you would like to see a story on the steaks, sourcing, aging process, age time, flavors acquired by the different age times, etc., but they don’t. The flavors: I have tried appetizers, poultry, and seafood dishes, and I am not impressed with the flavors. They lack a good balance of spices, salt, and texture. The creamed spinach is too salty and not complementary to the steaks. I have tried different steak cuts, and while I love the cheesy flavors that the aging process brings out of the meat, the texture of the meat gets disappointing. All the cuts I tried are chewy. The texture should be like warm salmon sushi. The desserts: Oh man, only if I could bring samples of my local bakery to compare to what they serve. Let's just say you know it wasn't made by any chef. Overall experience: 3.8 stars. Benjamins has the potential to be great but requires certain changes to bring it to 4 or 4.5 stars. Good luck!

Had a reservation and my guests were running late. I called and let them know it would be a 20-minute delay. The host over the phone said thank you for communicating and we'll have you ready. Arrived there with guests, and I could say honestly it was a packed house inside. Greeted by the host, we let them know the party had arrived. We waited an additional 13-15 minutes to be seated. The level of service at this point was mediocre, lackluster, and not steakhouse quality. Felt more like an after-hour bar spot than a steakhouse experience. While calling other places as we were annoyed, we finally got a table, sat down, and we knew what we came here for: porterhouse medium rare with traditional sides that pair well. We ordered some cocktails and got everything out of the way. We made sure to ensure that our steak came out medium well. The server, Dre, was waiting on other tables, so I understood the level of commitment he had when taking care of other guests, but felt like I didn't get a catered, house-warming feeling like traditional steakhouses carry - more like service at Applebee's or takeout somewhere, to be honest. The porterhouse comes out, and server Dre serves us. I inspect the steak and see that it's super charred, but that doesn't make it steak, right? Upon inspection, it was indeed medium rare, but what struck me is that it tasted mediocre, like not what high-quality beef is supposed to taste like. Now, I've been to a tremendous amount of steakhouses within years, so I would figure that this was not indeed the quality nor the experience I was expecting coming from a place like this. The cocktails were mediocre as well, and I definitely asked Dre if there were any house cocktails or cocktails that he would recommend, and he was no help. I definitely just opted for a lemon drop, which was watery, in a sense. All in all, the only thing that was phenomenal was the spinach, which was 10/10. Other than that, the steak was 4/10, the experience was 2/10, and the best part of this was probably the bathroom, where the mirrors are good and there are assortments to freshen up. Other than this, it was a hefty check that didn't amount to anything worth paying. I walked out of this establishment not full, still hungry, and just charred taste from a steak as after-breath. I would not recommend Benjamin’s prime to anyone.
This was the worst steakhouse I’ve ever been too. I litterally had to argue with the waiter for 5 minutes to get a bottle of still water. The burrata tasted like it was store bought and not from a good store either. Table next to us was a folding table like from the 90s. I had to argue with our dumb excuse for a waiter to get a wine list then they couldn’t find the wine I wanted from the list and sold me a $65 bottle of Riesling that tasted like I bought it from a gas station. Waiter was so scared of me he would only come to the table when I left the table and I didn’t even do anything. Table behind us also hated it here and the manager talked back to them about how they were “trying”. They never brought us bread. They brought me the wrong desert and what they brought me tasted like chain supermarket pumpkin pie. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Complete waste of my money. They canceled my open table reservation soon as they sat me 30 minutes after my reservation time, so I didn’t get the credit for the reservation or the opportunity to leave a review.
