This is a dope place 💎💎💎 For The Record has a unique mix of contemporary, funk, Japanese, and jazzy music. The espresso tonic is fun. ☕️ Chill vibes and it made my day to come here to check out new and used vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes, and custom wall murals. Even sweeter is the local owner Lucas. Thank you for being kind and cool. Your attention to detail is refreshing, dude. I found an assortment of music that works for my growing collection. Cheers 💎 ------ Lovely Updates- I tried out the iced oat milkkk matcha with pandan syrups... ✅✅✅ As for Kombucha, there's a BK local-brewer, 💘I'll have to try it out next! #positive-vibes
Best coffee shop in Brooklyn. Hands down. Records. Occasional live Music. Great Java. 5 star.
Wonderful record store with a great mix of the latest releases and some collection essentials. Lucas and his partner run the show, offering expertise with a smile, and excellent home-roasted coffee with a smile. I have never written this before, but today I felt like I was a friend, walking in and being greeted with the kind of service you don’t find everywhere in this decade. Got a record collection? Come here. Thinking about buying your first vinyl? Come here. Want a great coffee and good vibes? You need to be here.
Little gem discovered in Greenpoint. what a shame we’re only here for 5 days - if we lived here, we would live HERE. Coffee is delicious, staff is super laid back and welcoming, accommodating any special requests, and how much better can it get than vinyls and coffee in one place… right?! so 120% recommended. Go go go!
Had an amazing time visiting here for the first time for a Mumford & Sons early album listening party. The staff were super friendly, drinks were great, and had a vast collection of records!
My favourite coffee shop in Greenpoint - wonderful coffee, good snack offering and the baristas are all chatty, kind and genuinely interested in hearing about your day. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Good taste can’t be bought, but you can visit For The Record to experience it. Come for the delicious coffee, stay for the welcoming unpretentious vibes. The record collection is incredible, so well curated and reasonably priced. And they’re building community, with events and classes that are open to even non-vinyl enthusiasts! Coffee, community, and amazing music—what more do you need?
Let me tell you, I’ve been looking for a go-to record store since moving to the city for a year, and now, I needn’t look any further than Greenpoint. Walking into “For The Record” and instantly being struck by the smell of coffee beans and old records, not to mention the hospitality and all-around good vibes Lucas provided, made it feel like a place I’d never want to leave. They have something for everyone, and that’s including the coffee menu and the record selection, and anything I was looking for and couldn’t find, Lucas immediately looked into stocking it. I fear that I’m going to need more crate storage for my vinyl collection, as I’m definitely planning on making some more visits.
Started coming here back when I worked in the area some time ago, & have since relocated. However, I quite literally factor a stop into this shop into my day to day because of how much I love it. The space, the team & the product are all quality & if you’re into coffee & music culture you need to make this a stop.
Came here for the 5SOS listening party and ordered their house cold brew. It was a really good cold brew, probably best i’ve had in NYC. Lucas was amazing at getting the crowd hyped up lol and setting up the mood. Crazy night, crazy vibes, loved it! Will be coming back!!
went to the ego nite listening party! grabbed a hibiscus iced tea (which was great). lucas kept everything super organized and chill. it was a lovely time! would come to more listening parties at the store! :)
First impression: good coffee, music, and vibes. It was my first time visiting this coffee shop… and it’s not just any coffee shop! They also sell a wide array of vinyls as well as their own locally roasted coffee beans! It’s also cool that they use the space as an event venue. The owner was super chill and friendly :) I’d definitely take my friends here and this would’ve been my go-to coffee shop if I lived in the area!
I’m local to Greenpoint and don’t come to For The Record nearly as often as I want to. I stopped in last month to ask for a turntable recommendation and ended up being able to leave with one, as well as a set of speakers. Lucas was incredibly friendly and helpful, the set up was easy and it’s reassuring to know they’re nearby if I had any questions. The vinyl selection is always fun to browse and the coffee and snacks are great. I love bringing people here and am so happy this store is in my neighborhood. I’d highly recommend them for any record or coffee needs!
For The Record is the BEST!! Lucas and his staff are so welcoming, they roast their own delicious beans, and it's got a great atmosphere to work, sit with a friend, and listen to some vinyl. For The Record hosted myself and 3 other artists for this year's Greenpoint Open Studios and it was the perfect location. We were set up outside and had amazing foot traffic. 10/10 would recommend if you are looking for a place to host an event in Greenpoint!!
We had an album release listening party here last night and it was the perfect venue for it. Everyone came in commenting on how cool of a spot it was and it was more than enough space for a crowd of 20-30 people hanging out listening to a record. The sound was great too, which was a huge plus. 10/10 would recommend to anyone else thinking of hosting their album release/listening part my here!
This is my second time visiting New York City — and of course, my second time visiting For the Record! I’m from Poland, and this little shop in Greenpoint has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. Every time I stop by, I leave with amazing records and a big smile on my face. Lucas, who works at the shop, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He’s got great taste and always takes the time to chat and make thoughtful recommendations. You can tell he really cares about music and the people who come into the store. If you’re into vinyl and find yourself in Brooklyn, For the Record is a must. Thanks again, Lucas — see you next time I’m in town!
When you come here you are guaranteed to walk out with a smile. The owner, Lucas, is such a genuine human being and you can tell by the way he greets you & the way he remembers you from the moment you walk in. Our recent trip was for Record Store Day, a day that is very fun but almost guaranteed to be hectic. Not only did Lucas organize a special day so well, but he also made it enjoyable, and 'for the community'. I really appreciate and respect how he makes everyone feel. Being able to experience it myself as a happy customer, but also to witness it from everyone who comes in. Not to mention, the beverages and coffee being a great additional touch to the wide range of records available to browse. Today was really great, and so is every time that I come to this spot. Definitely check it out when you get the chance. And Lucas, thanks for making this spot so great.
Our team had an opportunity to plan a pop-up exhibition at For the Record, which remains one of our best memories in time! The location is perfect and large enough to do any kind of event. The atmosphere itself is very hip and cool! The best part is that the owner of the venue is very gentle and supportive. Regardless of the location, if you like vinyl, you should come to enjoy it with a cup of drink! P.S. Their iced tea and match latte taste delicious! Not very sweet, but well well-balanced!
I ordered a latte with waffle. I start by saying that the latte was good. The waffle seemed stale despite being toasted a little. In terms of service, it was subpar as answers to questions were insufficient and there was no friendliness. The location is decent and the ambiance was great due to the records collection and the aesthetics.
