Recensioni di Fortunato Brothers Brooklyn
This place has an amazing selection of pastries. All of your Italian favourites plus countless others. You will certainly find somerthing that appeals. We enjoyed a couple cappuccinos & 3 pastries. The folks behind the counter are polite & helpful. The place is spotlessly clean. Definitely worth a diversion to.
My first time ordering from Fortunato Brothers and got their rainbow cookie cheesecake for my Fiancée’s birthday and they did not disappoint! Definitely 10/10! Always seen them on Instagram and always wanted to try their baked goods. Glad I took the drive there!
I grew up on this stuff, my family having lived in Greenpoint for almost 50 years! This is my go-to place for pastry or cake anytime a special occasion, holiday or craving comes up! The only thing I have to say is that I ordered a thousand leaves birthday cake recently and it did not taste the way I remember it. I hope they are not changing their recipes because some things should never be altered! I had my wedding cake done by them and they did the most amazing job. Not only was the cake beautiful but it was delicious as well! Recommend to anyone! The best Italian pastry anywhere!
Long time establishment here in Williamsburg. Some of the best pastries in town. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Pastries are always fresh and have delicious coffee/espresso. I usually get their blueberry napoleon(made only on certain days), but their canolli's are also top tier. They have marzipan cookies which are decorated and designed as different fruits!
An iconic spot. Great espresso. I was complicated ordering but they were really nice
I've always loved this place. Very old school and very modern. Delicious Italian pastries. I was never dissatisfied. Very clean facility. The staff are polite and helpful. The prices are reasonable the location is fantastic. This is a nice place to have your cappuccino, pastries, and read a nice book. Seating is limited. There is no public parking. There is restrooms for customers only.
Ok I can't say enough about this place. I don't think I can ever eat a donut from anywhere else. Their pastries are AMAZING! This was the second visit my sister and I made to Fortunato because we weren't sure if the first time was a dream. Their stuff is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I haven't had one bad item there so far. And when I tasted that lobster claw... Well I think my soul left my body. EX..CEL..LENT! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Guys as the holiday season are upon us, with the Hustle and the bustle of commuting and trying to get everything done before friends and family arrives, one less thing to worry about!!…. GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY for your treats and cakes 🎂 🍰 🧁 and so much more. I walked in looking for something specific but was greeted with a warm hello. OMG 😱 it’s so beautiful I could hardly contain my smiles. I will be back Fortunato!!!!!
Came in on a weekend and there was a line but it moved quickly. Service was friendly and the person helping me made some good suggestions. One of her suggestions was a little ricotta pastry, which ended up being my favorite out of everything I tried since it wasn’t too sweet, just pleasant. The other standout was the cheesecake! It had a lovely texture and next time I’m here I’ll get the plain one since I don’t feel like the Oreos really added anything. The pastries here are also surprisingly affordable. My husband and I tried A BUNCH of them and only spent about $16. I like that most of them are small so you can easily try a few if you’re feeling indecisive.
Most amazing sfoyadelle (spelling) Marissa & Karen take care of everyone like they know you. The most delicious cappuccino… great selection
I'm going to be honest here with this review. I have heard through different people that the rainbow cookie here is the best you're gonna get in NYC. They certainly did not disappoint at all. I got the rainbow cookie cake slice with the cannoli cream and it was just simply pure heaven. Delicious and delicate cake layers with light sweet cannoli cream and a perfect chocolate hard top, which of course was topped off with a small piece of rainbow cookie. I can't wait to come back and try what looked like a rainbow cookie cheesecake and a giant rainbow cookie cake. This is truly an amazing find. If you love rainbow cookies this is the holy grail right here.
Came for the famous rainbow cookies and they did not disappoint! Classic rainbow cookies had an excellent chocolate shell and light jammy filling with the lovely almond aroma after taste. Also tried their rainbow slice that uses cannoli filling instead of the fruit jam and it was a lovely variation with a hardened chocolate shell which was fresh moist and fresh and simply delightful. Pair with your coffee of choice and you have yourself a dessert to remember.
Old school Italian pastry shop. Crazy crowded on holidays but not bad otherwise. Must try: sfoigloatelle (lobster tails), napoleons, pignoli cookies, strawberry & banana sponge cake if you need an entire cake (has layers of fresh strawberries and bananas & whipped cream with airy chocolate cake). I know the rainbow cookies get a lot of hype but I personally find the jam to be too much/too sweet. The gelato is often overlooked because of all the wonderful baked goods but don’t sleep on it, it’s perfetto!
Such a great, timeless Italian bakery in the area for ages! Varieties of pastries, cookies, cakes, gelato, and seasonal specialties like St. Joseph’s pastry and a variety of things for Easter. They have pistachio sfogliatelle (lobster tail pastry) as well as other varieties, they have a cream puff shaped like a swan. Something many unique items that differentiate from other Italian bakeries.
I came here for my birthday for cake and pastries with my sister, out of this world!!! I'm definitely going to go back for a pistachio lobster tail, best pastry I had all summer! We got the rainbow cookie cheesecake for the birthday cake, everyone was so pleased, we picked out more sweets from the case, got all three cannolis - hazelnut, pistachio and regular. All everyone enjoyed! Thank you so much for making my birthday special 💗
This was our first time visiting this Williamsburg Italian bakery. We ordered the Lobster Tail, St. Joseph Zeppole & Rainbow Cookies. And we ordered cappuccinos which were perfect. Everything was amazing. Also, the atmosphere was chill with plenty of indoor seating; kept very clean. The staff were super nice & friendly! Can’t wait to return and try more things! Also, we ordered a few things to-go; and our favorites were the Cannoli, Pignoli & Pistachio Cookies.
What a great bakery! We sat in a really cozy seat in the back corner with plenty of sun light. Delicious food and expresso drinks. We took the recommendation of the pastry assortment. Everything was top notch. Especially the Lobster Tail which is my old favorite. Super creamy and crispy. The rainbow cake is a must try too. Excellent staff service. Can’t wait to go back again.
After dinner and this is about 5 blocks away, I said this is worth the walk in the cold and wind to get to. This place feels like a old tradition and famous place in Brooklyn or a little known hidden gem. Coming in around 9 pm, the place is still lively with dates, friends and local. The counter is packed with amazing looking desert and cake. Not a fan of sweet at night, I went for a tea. My friends went all out for their ice cream and a too pretty to eat cake and cookie. Service is very fast. We order at the counter not knowing they do table service. Picking to sit by the window feels very nice and I hope to come on a snow day and during day time will set the perfect mood. It looks like they offer cake for all occasion. I see a few parent bring their kids to get a night cap here. It's Friday and definitely a better place to be than a bar. I would advice you bring a date here.

Great gelato at a great price! I'm also a big fan of their pastries filled with ricotta cheese. they also have savory breads, a great hot chocolate, and a wide range of artful marzipan.
I come here all the time. The pastries and drinks are mid to bad but the vibe is great. Best gossip spot in town.
I get it. It’s a classic Italian bakery. The lady who helped me pick out my pastries was very helpful and really nice. Even brought my hot chocolate to my table and boxed up my other items. Another employee, some dude, looked at me multiple times and didn’t even acknowledge me. He was too busy eating Italian rainbow cake at the counter. Get the rum baba. It’s delicious. I could have eaten 10 of them.
A true neighborhood spot in a quiet corner open late. After eating various pizza slices in Williamsburg, a lil seeet treat with some coffee was in order. Definitely neighborhood vibes…people inside have been coming here for years, grew up in the area or were like me, transplant wandering in for something sweet. We came specifically for cannolis and coffee. We threw in a rainbow cookie and a pastry filled with delicious cream. I have never been a huge fan of cannolis, however this one was good…I still wasn’t a die-hard fan but it was a good cannoli. Loved the rainbow cookie and whatever that other pastry was that was crunch, had Nutella and strawberry with light cream. Delicious iced coffee and friendly service.

Stopped in for a few treats on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line. Pistachio lobster tail and pignoli cookie were great. Rainbow cookie and chocolate dipped lace cookie were both sadly meh.…
What’s the fuss about? Cannoli was way too sweet. Little evidence of cheese inside. Shell had an additional sweet layer of some kind inside. Too much sugar. No pistachios taste at all.
Rainbow cookies are delicious but seriously lack structural integrity. All the layers slide around and the chocolate coating disconnects from the rest of the cookie very easily. Never had this happen before.
I'll stay neutral with this Italian bakery because some items are good but in my opinion, very over rated. Here's the thing, this is my review from my point of view. I believe for the price your paying your cakes/items should be top notch and they are not. You can go else where for cheaper prices with better quality taste. That's just my opinion and I'm sure others do agree and others that don't agree. They have some cakes and pastries that are good. They also have some items I will never purchase again due to taste and flavor. Like their red velvet cake lollipop, try it and you'll understand in what I mean. It tasted old and flavor was off so I threw it out, like I said never again. I don't really enjoy their cannoli cream either because I've had much better taste in a lot of other bakery places, again for much cheaper prices. All in all, ok but not for me again.
I drove by this restaurant for many years but didn’t want to try until I saw their pistachio cannolis on TikTok. I love flavored cannolis so finally stopped by. I ordered the plain and pistachio cannolis along with the lobster tail. There were good average. I had to order some gelato that was excellent they have great Italian flavors. Definitely be back to try other things.

As mentioned in many other reviews, this place is iconic and myself, along with my parents been going here for years. Now Last week I purchased a beautiful rainbow cake, and brought it to my sister for her birthday. I was excited and so was everyone else to try. Unfortunately (no pun intended) it was very dry. I'm not a complainer and I'm the type to just deal with things but I was talked into calling and making a complaints about it, which I did. I didn't ask for manager as I should of and instead made my complaint with whomever answered the call. I was told "I appreciate it." I will most certainly give Fortunato's another try, mistakes do happen, but I expected a little more sympathy, as I was embarrassed inside about it the whole night. I blew my cousins recommendation off for Veniero's and said Fortunato's is my spot, get lost, but now I would have to think twice. It probably was more of my expectations from here rather than the actual problem..thanks...
Don't know what happened to the Cannolis..but didn't taste great like they used to..They were definitely sitting in the fridge for a while due to the soft shell...Not crispy..and the cream had a funny flavor to it..Didn't taste like Marscapone..tasted more like cream cheese.. Not great.
I’ve come here several times, hoping the next time would be better than the last. The pastries aren’t anything special, if not lacking flavor. I always feel disappointed after taking a bite.
I purchased 1/2 mix amongst other assortments. Received just a handful of cookies (almost confident it was not 1/2 mix) . I even had to pay extra ($15) to add just a couple rainbow cookies to the 1/2 mix. Cannoli was overpriced and literally the size of my pinky. Just a rip off..
Not a great place. The atmosphere wasn’t very nice, they say there is service for the tables, but after waiting for a long time we had to order to the counter. The pastry was ok, but the cappuccino wasn’t good and not well done. We like they have room for tables, it’s not so common in New York to find a place like this, but they should improve their atmosphere.
My family has been buying cakes from here for the past 33 years. I have never seen such horrible writing on a cake. It literally looks like a child wrote it… I don’t understand what is going on with the mix of capital and lower letters. I’m really disappointed with the lack of professionalism and care in their work.
I purchased the Chocolate Mousse Cake for New Year’s on December 30, 2025 and was VERY disappointed. The cake tasted stale, lacked freshness, and didn’t have a rich chocolate flavor, and the cream puffs around were like stale crackers. We expected a Fortunato-quality experience, but it fell short. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 10 years, and now I don’t know what to do for the next celebration.

I was really looking forward to ordering a cake for my daughter’s birthday from your bakery. I live in the city, so it was a bit challenging to get there, but I made the effort and visited twice. During those visits, I spoke to a very kind gentleman who unfortunately wasn’t able to provide a price but was helpful and courteous. He advised me to email and call the manager, Joe, to get the information I needed. I truly believed this was the right place for such an important event. However, after speaking with Joe, I was completely turned off. His tone came across as arrogant and dismissive. It’s hard to imagine spending over $1000 on a cake with someone who made me feel so unwelcome. Customer service is everything, especially when making such a significant purchase. Sadly, this experience changed my mind.
I have given them a lot of business and ignored that pretty much each time there are bits of food in my desserts... luckily it wasn’t for a crowd!!!! very disappointed. I try to give them a chance each time bcus I like their desserts but after the 5th time of there being bits of food and crumbled old chocolate in cannoli cream.. I just can’t thats terrible. I do not want to be picking bits food and crumbled old chocolate out of my dessert making sure I don't eat it . gross
I should have known better when I saw that the cannolis were prefilled 🤦🏻♂️. Today on a trip back to NY we decided to hit up a bakery to bring home some Italian specialty desserts but have to say we were truly disappointed. We got a variety of things including cream puffs that were soggy with a very weird tasting cream, pistachio cannoli looked delicious but one bite and you could tell it had been sitting, it tasted like the refrigerator, the mini sfogliatelle have no flaky crunch to them at all they are spongy and the butter cookies with sprinkles were absolutely Meh For the amount of money we spent and to be as disappointed as we were with every thing we bought is truly sad. This is definitely not the same quality of pastry as they used to have.
Bought two strawberry short-cake slices from this place for $10. They were extremely dry and tasted like tooth-paste, it was not fresh. I tried the tiramisu before and it was really good & fresh, but the cake slices were very dry. Makes me sad cause I was referred to go to this place for their good cakes..
Overpriced Taste less Cookies , might as well get it fresh from local stop & shop . These prices are Manhattan crazy .
I am disappointed to have to write this, however, my attempt to speak to a manager on two separate instances has gone has been ignored My family and I have been customers for years. However, our last two cannoli cakes we have ordered have not been up to par like they used to be. Last year we got a cake and it was pretty dry. I thought OK. Everybody has a bad day, overall they are always delicious. However, we just ordered one last month for my Mom's birthday and the same thing happened. Completely dry. We didn't finish it like we always do, not even our slices. It was a disappointment, especially because it was her 70th birthday and we had ranted and raved to relatives how they're about to try the best cannoli cake ever. Not to mention, I asked for a specific color for the writing and it was wrong, but I wasn't going to complain about that. I let it go until we tasted the cake. I had written a kind email explaining the situation hoping at least for their own good they would be more conscientious, so this doesn't happen again for any other customer. They never got back. Two weeks later I called because I wanted to speak to a manager because I didn't want to stop going there, however, I did not want to continue patronizing them if they could not respond to a customer's email. The girl I spoke with was very kind and apologetic though of course not her fault. She said a manager would get back to me that evening. I explained to her it was my son's birthday the next day, and I would still like to order a cake if this can be rectified. Still no response from management, so for that reason I am leaving this feedback. It's not even about the product. It's about customer service. As a business owner myself, I would never have let this happen. So my family and I will no longer be customers of Fortunato's. What a shame. Like I said, their cake used to be amazing, but clearly that is not the case anymore, nor is their customer service.
I ordered a cake on the 4th of July via phone for a fresh rainbow cookie cake for pick up on the 6th of July. I will note that I have been ordering cakes from here since the 90’s and this was not a fresh cake. It was stale and not even remotely moist. We have ordered this exact cake multiple times and it is not ever dry. When I called to ask if something could be done the male party on the phone insisted that it’s a “cookie” and as much as I explained that it was not edible due to being stale and dry; he insisted that I’m the only one who’s called to complain and that nothing could be done. Shame on you fortunato for treating long time customers this way you should have done the right thing and made us a new cake.
Rudest staff. Unbelievably rude. Was shocked at the way I was treated. Clearly nobody in any sort of leadership role overseeing things. Officially my last time shopping. Sad because the food is great.
it is still a very Italian bakery or pastry shop if you will, but the rainbow cookies and cannolis were horrible. We also got their pistachio and strawberry whipped cream, lobster tails. Everything was just filled with so much sugar and not enough flavor. Did not taste authentic at all. we were in and out of ordering very quickly as it was not busy at all for a Saturday afternoon. There was an old lady screaming at a ton of middle-aged men …
I came to this establishment 2/8/2026 around 1:02 pm I ordered a hot chocolate some canolis and a cookie the pastries were stale and to make matters worse the server Jack was completely rude and racist he gave me such a nasty look and threw the change on the counter as if he didn't wanna touch my hand totally un acceptable I handed him the money in his hand and expected him to do the same if he's not gonna make all people of different race feel comfortable he shouldn't be working there not everything is snow understand I would never step foot in this disgusting establishment again I regret spending my $20 in this place learn to treat all people equally regardless of there race or ethnicity
Ordered a cake for an early Father's Day surprise-and the real surprise was that it arrived completely smashed. When I called the bakery, I was told, "Well, we didn't give it to the driver like that," and that there was nothing they could do. This was ordered directly through their website. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time l've had issues. On several occasions, items were missing from my order, and when I called to report it, I was told they couldn't just send a driver out to fix it. One time, they even claimed a replacement item was sold out-only for me to place a new order under another name and suddenly it was back in stock. It's been one unprofessional experience after another, and I can no longer recommend this place in good faith.
The rainbow cookies are awful: hard chocolate on the outside, dry sponge with tasteless jam inside. ShopRite’s are better (and those are pretty bad). For $28/lb, certainly don’t waste your time here.
An old school, Italian bakery located off the beaten path. Update: during a visit, I noticed the pastry sizes shrunk and the Napoleon was dried out garbage, the prices raised and there's a surcharge for using credit or debit. Sorry, I'm not paying extra for the privilege of buying mediocre pastries from you.
Grew up coming here as a Williamsburg native came here as an adult with my wife telling her all about how good the cannolis are and how they’ve been on TV and on a bunch of Food Network and when I get in there, there’s a glazed hotdog with a piece of hair engraved into it the girl behind the counter instead of removing the entire item she tried to rip the hair that was glazed on off, and she couldn’t so a piece came off, and the rest of the hair was still glazed on there as I moved on to get my dozen cannolis, I noticed the horde of flies inside of the refrigerator Had to walk out as there was no way we could eat from here very disappointed traveled distance just to come here for some cannolis and yeah, things are definitely not up to the health codes
⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointed – not artisanal, not professional I honestly can’t believe these cakes and cookies are made by “professionals.” Everything tasted industrial, like chemical-flavored, artificially colored almond paste straight from a factory. The flavors were brutal and unnatural. The worst part: the babas literally smelled like gasoline. Not an exaggeration. Completely inedible. We stopped eating after a few bites. This is not what real pastry tastes like. nothing refined, nothing authentic about these products. It feels mass-produced, overloaded with fake flavoring and coloring, and sold as “artisan.” What’s even more shocking is the 4–5 star rating. After this experience, it’s very hard to believe those reviews are real. Either standards are extremely low, or the reviews are misleading. I would not recommend this place to anyone who actually appreciates quality pastry. Huge disappointment.
For starters I just want to say me and my family have been coming here for many years and the quality has just been going down for the past couple of years. From the spoiled fruit on the fruit tarts to the stale cheesecake. Please be consistent with your quality and fix this I would hate to go to another place for pastries. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad, it’s a gamble and you don’t know what you’re going to get. HORRIBLE OREO CHEESECAKE
I am writing to express my disappointment with the cake I recently received from your store. I am not a first-time customer, which makes this experience even more frustrating. In the first picture (purple cake), the handwriting on the cake was extremely poorly done. It looked rushed and unprofessional, completely ruining the presentation. The words were slanted, “birthday” was missing the letter t, there was an odd scribble at the bottom of the “B,” and the “M” in “Maria” didn’t even resemble an M. Because of this, I wasn’t able to take proper pictures with the cake. For comparison, the second picture shows a cake I ordered just a month ago from your store, which looked clean, neat, and well-presented. The difference between the two is significant. When I addressed my concerns with the staff, the customer service I received was dismissive and unhelpful. I was told the handwriting was done by the owner himself and this was considered “fancy handwriting.” I never asked for fancy handwriting, and what I received was not neat or legible. Then when I showed him the photo of the cake he proceeded to tell me “That’s how all the handwritings on the cake look”. When I pointed out that this was untrue and showed them a photo of the previous cake I had ordered, which clearly had different, better handwriting, they had no response. I was told the owner would reach out to me the following day, but no one has contacted me. Instead, the only “solution” offered was that in the future I should order cakes without handwriting and have the writing done at pickup. This is not a reasonable solution. I expected much better quality and service, especially for an important occasion. Unfortunately, this experience has left me extremely dissatisfied, and I will not be returning.
