Recensioni di Guevara's Brooklyn
Amazing and beautiful new vegan spot! Super friendly staff, delicious coffee, food, donuts and muffins. Great variety of vegan products to buy if you need to stock up! Must go if you’re in the neighborhood!
Guevaras is beautiful cafe that serves plant based food. They also double as a plant store and they sell other eco friendly / vegan / vegetarian goods. Currently, they only have outdoor dining but they have decorated it well with beautiful live plants. This is a counter serve establishment which means you have to go inside and place your order and pay. After that, you can enjoy their beautiful outdoor space. On our visit, my wife and I tried the vegan nachos and vegan milanese. Both food items tasted super delicious. You can tell that they take great pride in how they prepare their meals. We did not get a chance to try their coffee but we did notice that they use a slayer espresso machine (top of the line for people that take their coffee seriously). We look forward to visiting again to try more of their delicious food and taste their espresso. Highly recommend this place!
A vegan palace/paradise. Chai latte was amazingly flavorful and steamed to the *perfect* temperature. Breakfast torta was full of crunch and texture and tasty goodness. It’s a good place to meet, work, read, or chill with both inside and outside seating options.
This place is adorable, inside and out! The live music on Saturday was so enjoyable. Loved the picadillo empanadas with the green side sauce. Ordered the coconut ceviche that’s sort of like a tostada- it was amazing!! Perfect treat, all vegan and delicious. Made with young coconut, mangos, avos and a dreamy sauce. Was a bit disappointed with my coffee, I ordered Cafe con Leche expecting it to be made with strong Cuban coffee. It was watery coffee with milk. I’m sure the coffee is great if I would’ve ordered a latte or espresso. Overall, really cute place to visit, can’t wait to go back!
Guevara's is very pleasant. The drinks and snacks are tasty. The vegan grocery items are a real convenience. The plants are adorable and sensibly priced. The service is welcoming, sincere, and friendly. Guevara's hits every mark I've come to desire in a great small business experience.
Truly magnificent vibes here! Beautiful plants, charming people, exceptional food, and stellar coffee. 💫 Plus the staff at Guevara’s are the ~most lovely~ humans! Walking inside this place immediately makes me happy, and I can tell it does the same for a lot of other folx around as well. 🤗🌻✨
Loved everything about Guevara’s - the food, the service, the atmosphere. I got the torta milanesa (made with eggplant) and the piña colada cocktail. My friend got the platanos y picadillo and a cocktail as well. The drinks were well mixed and made with great attention to detail and extras. The food was very well seasoned, put together and presented. Overall, the pricing isn’t too shabby at all, especially considering the effort being put into what you’re ordering. Oh, there’s also indoor and outdoor seating available. Fun fact: the couple that owns Guevara’s also owns another restaurant nearby (mekelburg’s) both of which are eponymous.
The food and coffee is great! Highly recommend the eggplant torta - and that’s coming from someone that doesn’t usually like eggplant at all. Service was friendly and quick. So happy to have another great vegan spot nearby.
Amazing empanadas (my fav is the guava - to. die. for.) and other treats/meals. Great coffee/lattes. All major delish, even to a non-vegan. Also, be prepared for significant plant envy! Update 4/29/22. Now open until 10, and they serve nice cocktails. Sit outside, sip on your drink of choice, and enjoy the yummy food options. Love this place.
A wonderful gem filled with color, sweets, empanadas, and sandwiches. Options are plentiful and stray from the typical vegan offerings. If looking for a great place to chill or a quick bite to eat you can’t go wrong.
Guevara’s is adorable and I always pick up a little something unexpected when I go in. From plants to baking goods, the best selection of vegan ice creams to Topo Chico sparkling water, they’ve curated a perfect little selection of everything. Their lattes are perfect and their vegan nachos are the BEST I’ve ever had!
Abigail served me. Professional, easy going and lovely! You must try the vegan Breakfast Torta. Hold on tight! Hold on TIGHT!
Great coffee at great price! Also, a shout out to the weekend morning staff! The friendliness and service is excellent. They make me feel welcome and valuable even though I only get a small cup of coffee to go.
Oh my goodness, I'm in love with this place. Sav!!!!!!!!! You are the best!!!! Today was my second time coming here in literally 6days all the way from Valley Stream NY I mean. Last Sunday I came with my homegirl who needed a pick me up on our vegan Journey Joy Ride and this place was the first stop highly recommended by Diaryofmadblackvegan from Instagram and there was only 2 donuts left and we got 1 and enjoy it so much I had to bring my other friends back... Sadly it was sold out but SAV!!!! the MVP saw us outside eating our pico de gallo n garbanzo empanadas and gave us the long lost donut!!!! 🍩 So yummy n worth the trip still be back!!!! Soon
It doesn’t get any better than this! Fantastic coffee, super lovely service, unreal pastries and small breakfast plates… AND PLANTS!!! Really lovely to be in close proximity to this establishment. Ps its all veggie so don’t come expecting bacon!!
Loved the pink aesthetic here; very cute cafe and friendly staff. Coffee was good !
My boyfriend is extremely picky about his croissants. I sometimes buy croissants from different bakeries for him to try to find the best croissant. This AM I included Guevara's croissant. He was blown away like I have never seen about the taste, texture, and "butteriness" of this croissant. 15/10 Guevara's!!!!
such a lovely experience and the servers were so kind and sweet - food was impeccable! highly recommend :)
I got the vegan breakfast burrito. Wowww, easily one of the best in Williamsburg. The music is great, the energy is vibrant in the restaurant, but is calm in the grocery area. Food took a little long to come out, but overall great experience!
The torta milanese eggplant was delicious and very filling. I also enjoyed the yuca fries. I would definitely come back to try a few other vegan options.
many thanks to the amazing staff who walked us thru the whole menu. loved the tuna melt, fresh veggies ! avocado salad for the win. will be back !
We loved this little café and the décor inside. The colors are vibrant and fun, and the seating area is filled with greenery. The coffee was pretty good and served quickly. The empanadas were also quite good, but we only had two of them. The server recommended the chutney to go with them, which we also highly recommend. Overall a lovely spot with great food/coffee!
The service and food is always amazing here! Great spot to catch up with a friend and chat. The decor is so perfect and they also have lots of trinkets for a last minute present.
Short version: I’m not vegan but this place makes me consider it. Long version: This place really lived by the mantra “the magic is in the details.” They have debatably the beat coffee I have ever had, and their vegan pastries are so good you’re never quite sure if they actually are (spoiler: they are). They have a small grocery section, plants, cards, etc. I have definitely made this place my last stop before heading out of town for a great breakfast and some small gifts from their store.
I've been to Guevaras a few times now and absolutely LOVE their food. As a vegetarian is hard to find good vegan/vegetarian options and Guevaras is the perfect spot for that. The staff are friendly and I love the little plant and candles shop inside. Definitely bring friends here every time they're in town!
Recently ran across this place while looking for new vegan spots to dine at and the funny thing is that I have been walking and driving pass this place for a very long time. Infact I drive by it everyday taking my son to school and had not realized it was vegan. So I stopped by last week and couldn't decide what to get so my 1st time there I just went with the walnut donut and it was so yummy. The second trip there I order one of the empanadas and the guava and cream cheese donut. Wooo wee that donut was one of the best I ever had. The last time I was there I ordered a blueberry crumble muffin and a lox bagel. The bagel had tofu cream cheese, red onions, capers, dill, tomatoes and roasted yellow peppers. It was good but I asked the employee to toast my bagel and it was not toated even a little bit so that was the only thing I didn't enjoy. But had it been toasted it would have been amazing. I will definitely return.
Such a cute shop! Stopped here for a coffee and left with a birthday card for a friend and an amazing sandwich - it was soooo good!!! Employees are super nice and helpful. There is outdoor seating and it is just such a nice feeling environment. Perfect addition to the neighborhood!
Best drip coffee in clinton hill, in my opinion. Vegan torta is great. And everyone who works here is so friendly! Also my go-to spot for a candy bar/plant/candle and a card if I need to assemble a last minute gift.
Great grocery selection! The guava donut was delicious but needs wayyy more jam(right now there’s just one scoopful in the middle). Here’s a side by side comparison of a Clementine Bakery donut(left), which is a softer and squishier donut vs. the Guava donut, which is more fried and has a thicker, crunchier and darker brown crust.
Amazing little spot! Everything I’ve tried here has been so tasty. And the atmosphere is very charming, the staff very friendly. Vegan nachos - So good! Sweet empanadas- guava and vegan queso, melt in your mouth delicious! Great outdoor seating area - covered but open and with good heaters, excellent option for these Covid days.
Absolutely delicious vegan Mexican meals! This is one of the only spots featuring a vegan milanesa torta, one of my most missed meat dishes. The torta was made with eggplant instead of chicken and the taste was fantastic! I also ordered the chilaquiles and the dish has fresh flavors all over the dish. I will continue ordering for my work lunch from time to time. So happy I found Guevara’s!
Delicious vegan food and wide selection of packaged vegan foods. The breakfast torta was delicious. Vegan sliced cheese isn’t my favorite, so I recommend ordered without the cheese. Otherwise, delicious sandwich with a nice balance of fresh, hot, savory, and spicy. Will definitely be back!
Had an excellent experience at Guevara's! I had the breakfast torta which had a mung bean fritata, red cabbage, tomato, bacon substitute, vegan cheese, avocado and mole mayo on a wheat kaiser. The mole mayo had just the perfect amount of spice and it was so flavorful. I also split nachos with my friend which were loaded with toppings! The guacamole was the best I've had and the vegan cheese was perfect! For dessert we split a guava and cheese donut. The frosting was just the right amount of sweet. To drink I had a sweet potato latte which was good but I wanted more of the flavoring. Sitting inside you are surrounded by plants. I love the atmosphere of Guevara's. Went again recently and got the torta milanesse and chips with queso. The chips are incredible.
Loved all of the food that we got! We got the breakfast torta, nachos, pozole and the vegan babka. Their food came in huge portions and you can tell they put a ton of effort into their food and spare no expense on the ingredients. The vegan babka was INSANE - it’s a must. So flaky and delicious
The torta milanesa sandwhich is delicious. They have roating pastries and my favorite are the concha and gave and cheese empanada, and ube pastry.
Everything is perfect! The menu contains so many (vegan) options which I’m super appreciative of. Everything sounds delicious. I had the vegan torta de milanesa with yuca fries and it was amazing, I do wish I had ordered a large yuca fries though lol they were so good. I will have to come back another day to try out the drinks especially the fall drinks! I will be coming back for sure :)
Went for a late breakfast and this is one of the yummiest vegan places I have been to. The food is flavored so beautifully and the blends of tastes are amazing. We ordered the picadillo y plátanos and the picadillo empanadas with mole mayo and hibiscus tea, with a cinnamon roll for dessert and I highly recommend this place and the food. There are also many different types of places to sit and eat. Very nice vibes!
A gusty waterfront belies a friendly experience with astonishing variety. The most important thing to know is to take a quick left to visit the vegan bakery; the shops most exceptional feature and a prized emerald. I met Andrea there who shared lore about the local and house made all vegan culinary creations that I could take. This is a superb place to pick out a gift. Get two though because the first may not make it home. Otherwise the audio is decently done despite the reflective environment. Full upbeat rhythms without being overbearing because its not distorted. So someone thoughtfully engineered the experience. The bottomline is that most people will feel warmed here and likely take something special home with them.
This place is a VIBE ✨ Wanted some good vegan food/coffee while exploring Brooklyn and stumbled upon this place. Super cute, beautifully decorated & loaded with plants- this place was wonderful. Loved the fun color aesthetic! Staff was super welcoming & kind. What I got: Iced latte- strong coffee with oat milk. Was delicious Egg/cheese breakfast empanada- wow! Soooo good! Deliciously warm & crispy. Loaded on the inside. Came with dipping sauce that was bomb. Donut- I don’t remember the name of the donut but it was amazing. It was massive. Like sooooo big. Delicious vegan cream cheese “frosting” with a sweet jam on the inside 🥹 This place was a wonderful surprise & I am so glad I stopped in! They also have a nice selection of vegan goodies to go!
There’s multiple businesses together here. There’s a market, and then right at the entrance is Guevera’s where you can buy pastries and drinks. It’s all vegan and the selection is amazing. I got the breakfast bomba, the churro pop tart and the scallion pancake danish. The breakfast bomba was basically a whole meal, it’s a bun filled with like a breakfast scramble. The pop tart was so delicious and the texture was just the right amount of crisp without being dry. I want to try more pop tart flavors from them in the future! I loved the croissant pastry for the scallion pancake danish, and I thought the flavor was unique. There was like a savory vegan cream cheese filling. For sandwiches and other entrees, you walk to the back and there’s a bar/diner called Mekelburgs. They have vegan items from Guevera’s and also their own menu options that aren’t all vegan. I was told I could order pastries from this diner too if I just wanted to make a single transaction. I got the breakfast torta, which was hefty and delicious. All the staff was also friendly and helpful!
Super fun pink vibes at this grab n go location! There is seating but it mostly a spot for takeout coffee and vegan treats! Staff are very kind and friendly too. Most pastries are sweet but they have a bacon egg and cheese croissant for $9. It’s a great café to grab a quick coffee and snack and then head to Domino Park to enjoy it. Staff are always very kind and friendly too.
Truly delicious specialty lattes, the Salted Maple and Cookie Butter lattes were incredible. The Vegan BEC croissant was so savory and salty, it was a much needed breakfast treat! The interior is so bright and fun, and filled with amazing smelling candles, pet treats and vegan specialty grocery items.
I was missing the pastries from the baker who was previously at Terms of Endearment and was pleasantly surprised to find she is here now!! My new go to spot as I missed her various types of croissants so much (I had the pistachio one and it was incredible) and the staff working were so nice and helpful. yay!
Really cute and the workers that work there are sweet and patient! I tried their rose halva latte today and I’m hooked! She was able to customize it a bit for me too which was lovely. Super good location bc you can watch the whole block. I love that they sell plants and small household goods as well.
We took our delicious tortas down to Domino Park! It was healthy and tasty but nothing too inventive. The highlight was the vegan donuts; we got guava and dulce de leche! Would return for sure.
Cute new spot in the neighborhood with so many interesting market items and plants! Staff is super friendly. Only gave it 4 stars because I got a muffin for $4.50 that was actually a mini muffin...a bit extravagant of a price point
Really nice atmosphere and friendly employees. All of the pastries looked incredible- I got the ube filled bun and enjoyed it. Fluffy and tender with a not overly sweet filling. I also got the breakfast torta- wanted to love it but I wasn’t impressed. The kaiser was tough and chewy- seemed old. The frittata and bacon didn’t have much flavor. I’d still go back to try more pastries and the empanadas.
This woman & trans owned cafe/plant shop/grocery store is 100% vegan with cute vibes. 🥪 Torta milanesa: crispy eggplant, refried black beans, purple cabbage slaw, avocado, cherry peppers and guac - omg this is the best vegan sandwich I’ve had in NYC! Its loaded, every flavor is distinct and the bread is soft. Yes it’s messy but that’s why you eat at home when no one is watching 😅 I would love to try their breakfast torta next time. Definitely a cool spot worth checking out in the area. 😍
Came here w/friends last night for the first time. Cool vibe and lovely people staffing this place. Great cocktails. I got the guacamole w/plantain chips ($16). The serving size of the guacamole was maybe 4 tablespoons (no more than one small avocado). I almost sent it back thinking maybe they made a mistake. Plantain Chips were tasty. The Jalepeno popper had a good spicy sauce, albeit two bite sized portions ($14). I would not pay those kinds of prices for such small food portions again. You can buy a generous meal for $30. This is a good spot for cocktails.
Went to Guevara’s to try out their much praised vegan Torta Milanesa (Mexican sandwich) which is loaded with black beans, purple cabbage, tomato, avocado, peppers and breaded eggplant. It definitely was a satisfying sandwich (not cheap though at $14 plus tax & tip) but I found the bread to be a bit stale. It’s a great addition to the vegan cafe scene in Brooklyn and I’ll definitely be back to try their sweet pastries (donuts, croissants) and empanadas. Also want to add that the decor of the shop is beautiful - in addition to food & coffee, you can buy plants and a few other things here. Great outdoor space during the warmer months.
Small spot for vegan pastries and drinks! Limited space but you can sit at the bar that is connected with. Slightly pricy in general. Im not vegan but their pastries were good surprisingly. Coffee menu was outstanding and creative as well. 🧁✨Gingerbread coffee muffin was delicious than my expectations! It was moist in the middle and crunchy on the top. The flavor was good and no oily smell. Croffle was a little bit oily for me, but the texture was good. Drinks were good as well, coffee from Oslo with their special flavors. A little bit pricy tho.
My hubby and I were looking for something vegan to eat late night and came upon this spot. Guevara's is in the heart of Williamsburgs Southside, which has definitely come a long way. The place is super cute, and the vibe is super chill! The staff and owner are very friendly and it's easy to see why this place is so popular. Atmosphere, location and service were top notch, but the vegan food sad to say, not so good! The cauliflower wings and chili cheese baked potato looked like slop. The Tortas melanesa was kind of all over the place, stacked very high, and was very messy. The flavors were overpowering and all over the place. I would rethink the menu. Sorry to say, the food was not worth the price!
Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. The vegan cookie I had was ok. Unfortunately the coffee was undrinkable
Service was meh. Food same. Should have less nut based items. "Atmosphere" is a category now? Ok. Atmosphere was OK, I mean the interior is nice or whatever. Wish it was occupied by people who provided better service and different food tho that's all.
The food is so great and convenient on my way to work. Absolutely delicious pastries and sandwiches! However, I have ordered pickup 3 times and each time they somehow are unaware of the order when I arrive and I have to wait for another 30 minutes, even though I received confirmation of the order a few mins after ordering. I told the person working about this and they said they would let their manager know. I would order here so much more frequently if this issue was resolved.
The food is great, but the portions are quite small per dollar. You get small fine dining portions, but this is not fine dining. I will definitely go again because I do like the food, but with what I mentioned in mind. With more reasonable portions sizes I'd give one more star.
Second time there. It’s such a beautiful place! Love the plants and love the vibe. The staff is super friendly and everything it nicely kept up. Got the torta Milanesa, BEC, and also a dish called “plantain Picadillo” Would recommend going there for pastries, coffee drinks, the plants and ambience. But the food was lacking in flavor from the first time I went a few months ago. The BEC and torta were okay. The most disappointing was the plantain dish, the plantain was hard and sooo over cooked that it turned into rubber unable to eat really. yucca chips with the black bean spread was good but wasn’t worth the price. Overall 3.5 stars
I really liked this place. The decor was nice, there was cool merchandise & the food was really good! I would say, however, that the place was not very hygienic. I could see the cooks touching their faces/mouth with their gloves when they were cooking. Leaning over the prep workspace and resting their heads on their gloves. Not a good practice when handling food.
Cute place with nice food options . The hygiene is definitely off. I saw a human hair as soon as I got my food on the table. Staff didn’t bother to bring napkins or cutlery either. Later realized that another person’s meal on my table had another hair deep within it. Definitely won’t return even though the meal was tasty.
I frequented this beautiful cafe weekly when they first opened September 2020 but have stopped visiting as often. This was when the starting prices included 2 empanadas + small black coffee for $5 (amazing!). With all that being said, they applied for their liquor license to expand to a cocktail bar. That was when there was an understandable increase in price but also an unexpected decrease in quality. The food remains similar in my perspective but I mean the quality of customer service. Customer service was ammmaaaaazing before and now idk. I would like for the employees to feel supported by the customers and I feel like they are spread too thin. Having only 2 people in one shift covering POS, barista orders, bartender orders, and sending food out is extremely difficult. I hope they hire more to help with service to better the ambience and customer happiness
No friendly service, it doesn't look like in the other reviews. I came here at 1PM and they more then half of the options from the menu were sold out.
Meh. I bet if the food was hot, it’d be a lot better. My food was room temp at best -empanada was actually cold though and the floor was sticky. First vegan place I go to in New York and it was a bit subpar - kinda disappointing but what can ya do.
Their eggplant torta tastes great, but they cut through the tinfoil wrapping the sandwich. This resulted in about a dozen tiny shards of metal in my sandwich. When I mentioned this to the person working the register, they acknowledged they’ve received complaints about this in the past. Also, if you zoom in on some of the photos from other reviews, you can see that other folks have metal shards in their tortas too. If the owners read this message, can you please change the way you serve the sandwich?
Guevara is okay for the price, small portions and nothing to rave about quality but would not go back because of the service. You are getting what you pay for in food quality and as a family of vegans who live in Williamsburg, there is way more better options for eating vegan nearby. But my son likes the doughnuts but the owner Alicia has a horrible attitude and makes it truly an uncomfortable experience when she is around. My son had to go to the bathroom to wash his hands after eating the tres leche and the owners Alicia Guevara questioned my husband for proof and then didnt believe him and went over to double check with the server of the cafe. She then embarrassed my son and I when we left with saying good bye in a condescending voice which my son then asked me if he did anything wrong when we were leaving. We are locals since 2001 of the Williamsburg North neighborhood and native nyers, finding out that the woman who harassed and yelled at my family is actually the owner made this even worse! Appalling - shame on you!
Used to be the best vegan breakfast in NYC. But the sandwich I used to get for $10 (already pricy) is now $14 and not as good as it used to be. The babka is not evenly baked and costs $18 (insane). Not worth it anymore 😢. Oh, and an extra star off because they aren't even vegan - they offer cows milk. Gross and cruel. Edited. Prices continue to soar while quality continues to plummet. The sandwich is now $16! Wildly overpriced food and drinks.
This place is so absurd. They sell “the vegan ❤️ Love” meanwhile there okay charging you $7 for empanadas that are so fried and tasteless and a $5 latte. I will never step foot in a place this again. When I asked with trepidation, “ Excuse me $13 for empanadas and a latte?” It seems a bit extreme even in Brooklyn. Yes we decided to increase our prices. Don’t buy into this. There food and drinks are definitely not worth it! Hope I can save you some money 💰 because I definitely left annoyed and hungry!
I Ordered the Breakfast Torta .. I’m enjoying it until I realize there’s a LONG piece of Hair in my food! So disgusting. They should require the cooks wear hair nets or something. That was the longest piece of hair I’ve ever seen. So gross
The first time I went to this place, they tried to sell me a frozen bacon egg and cheese for $10. When I asked for my money back they gave me it in coins. The second time I came in, I ordered a latte and it ended up up being $8. It took a long time for the barista to make it and was overly sweet. This place has awful quality and is overpriced.
I've lived in Williamsburg for the last 40 years. I love seeing cute little cafes. In the neighborhood. I walked past this one and decided to stop in. The coffee sounded great, and the menu looked very tasty. I walked in and wanted to try out the almond croissant and dolce de leche donut. The cashier told me if I wanted to order I had to order at the bar in the back. I walked over and was a bit confused seeing everyone there was either having an actual meal or a drink at the bar. Why would I be ordering a "to go" pastry at the bar??? The bartender was nice but when i asked if he had croissants he said he wouldnt know, whatever was at the front was what was there.. i asked well, should i just order at the front?? He said yes. I go back to the cashier and tell her what I want and she looks at me dumb founded as to why im asking her. I told her how confused I was. Where was i supposed to order??? She finally tells me it's because she closed out the drawer. By then, I was so annoyed I didn't want anything. I thought I found another gem. Sadly I didn't have a good experience.
So, I understand all the nice reviews for this place. My understanding is that the bar/restaurant is part of the cafe. Took a chai latte, and sat down at the bar/restaurant area, only to be told by the server that there is a $20 minimum for me to be sitting there. Would NOT advise you guys to be decieved by the photos, you CANNOT work here
I always have a good experience at Guevara’s Clinton hill location, so was so excited to try in Williamsburg! The service here was awful, the waitress at Mekelburgs (who shares the space with Guevara’s) immediately scolding the barista at Guevaras 2 minutes into walking in. Then waiting over 10 minutes to be served. The same waitress at Mekelburgs is definitely a bigot. I asked to use the bathroom and was completely denied because I wasn’t a stay in customer even though me and my boyfriend both stayed in and had our pastries. The second I walk to my partner with my concerns then was offered the bathroom key. Pretty convenient being that we’re a biracial couple. Never again! Very shocking to be profiled especially in such a lively accepting place like Williamsburg!
I live in the neighborhood and thought this time to stop by and try their food. 1 burrito, for $17.50 !! Judging from the photo below, food aspect and taste standard are not met. Smashed salad, tasteless sauce, and a marinara that came straight out from a Tostitos jar. The burrito could be improved. Not worth it.
This review is for the coffee shop in there. $8.42 for the worst ice latte I've ever had. Terrible. They do not know how to use an espresso machine. And way overpriced.
