Good pint of Guinness, food was decent too, but the reason I loved it here was the music, proper Indie tunes from the 90s, quite obscure ones that I don't think I'd heard since the actual 90s!
I love this place. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. The prices are awesome.
This place is a hidden gem! A true Irish pub. Not obnoxiously loud, great beer, and the food was outstanding! The corned beef is made in a traditional Irish way, cooked with beer. I’m not a deli meat fan but holy cow, it was DELICIOUS. I felt like I was back in Ireland. Wonderful!
Good food, drinks and service, affordable and nice atmosphere before going to any event at the Barclay.
For some reason, I've never had a bad experience at Irish Pubs. The food is generally what you would expect. This place was busy, and the staff was cordial, fast, and organized. I would come here again. My chicken wrap was ok. The chicken could have used some seasoning. My french fries were delicious!
Stumbled across this neighbourhood bar by accident but did not regret it one bit! Solid affordable pub fare (fresh, thick-cut fries!!!) and the friendliest staff. Their hidden backyard was surprisingly spacious and quiet given the location. Clean open bar area with many TVs -- will definitely be visiting again soon to watch a game.
Great cider and beer and the Irish classic dishes are prepared to perfection. Shepherds pie is must here. Fresh and not greasy or overcooked unlike many shepherds pies I’ve had in the past. Wings were also excellent. Is now my go to bar on a Friday night. :)
Love the staff! We had a private party and it turned out to be a really awesome time. The staff was great!! The food was delish. I donwish we would have had a DJ, but other than that...there was enough space and the place was beautiful. It def made for great memories!
This is a great local bar on Staten island. The drinks are cold and affordable. The appetizers have a wide range of flavors. I had the buffalo wings which were very tasty. The happy hour specials are ok, sometimes they'll have a good deal. The service is unbeatable as they are very knowledgeable and accommodating
Great place to grab a drink before a game at Barclay's Center. We didn't eat so I can't leave a review on the food, but from what I heard, it is good. This was our second time visiting here and I suspect we will do so again the next time we visit Brooklyn.
Went there to watch the Jets & Giants game yesterday with a few friends. Great atmosphere, plenty of screens, and the wings were tasty. Very good, friendly, and attentive service. Will definitely come back.
Stopped in for drinks here on a weeknight and the vibe is great a perfect pub style sports bar and the bartender was very attentive and polite. A great selection of drinks and the location is perfect for any event at Barclays!
Visiting from the UK and taking a walk down 5th Ave so decided to pop into McMahon’s. Barman Jerry was an amazing host and full of knowledge when giving us ideas for our stay and an alround nice guy. I would highly recommend popping into McMahon’s for the great service and superb choice of drinks. Thank you Jerry, you are a true gentleman.
The food & drinks are awesome, and the service is highly attentive. The space is perfect. The pub makes you feel like you're in a small town even though you're one block from the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn! I highly recommend McMahon's and the potato fritter appetizer.
Katie was outstanding!, went above and beyond for us our service from Katie was amazing came here before Charli xcx and I can’t recommend this bar enough please ask for Katie when you come here !!
Perry at McMahon Public House is hands down a 5-star bartender! He's not just attentive; he's practically psychic, always knowing what drink you need before you do. With his welcoming smile and helpful attitude, Perry turns every visit into a great time. Cheers to McMahon for having such an awesome bartender! 🌟 🍻
Jerry is the man! We came here before and after the Liberty game and it was packed. But you wouldn't know cause Jerry was on top of his game, giving everyone the attention they deserved. I'm from Jersey but I will definitely be returning.
I've been coming to McMahon's for years and it's by far the best bar in Brooklyn. My company just held our holiday party tonight and it was incredible as always. Delicious food and superior service. Hopefully you go on a night Alison or Dee are working because they're the best. Have all your events here and make it your regular spot.
This has to be the best place to go even when you are not going to the Barclays Center!! We showed up last night with a group of 50+ before the Islanders game, and it was as if they were expecting us! We all had appetizers that were delicious, and a terrific assortment of beer and wine. Mike and his staff were so very friendly and accommodating to our large group. I would highly recommend McMahon's!!
If you want to experience the Irish countryside with a fine lass in tow then come to this bar. Ok you're not in Ireland and there probably won't be a young scarlet sitting next to you but you get darn good wings, a cold beer and plenty of Jameson to drink your sorrows away. Really the food is really good and the atmosphere is like cheers meets Irish lucky charms and the place is magically delicious.
Went here before a concert. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bar was big. We didnt order an food anti was packed that night and there was not a seat in the house. I would highly reccomend the upstairs. There are more bathrooms there in case the line downstairs is too long. Also it was less crowded and less noisy so more my style. If you ever want to have a drink and a great time with friends this is a great bar to choose!
Held a retirement party on their 2nd floor party space. It was lovely, and spacious. The owner, Mike, bartenders Kevin, Christine, and Brian were awesome and made sure every need was met and that everything went smoothly. Good food and drinks. Looking forward to having another event there!
Great spot for a drink and lunch/dinner. Drinks, lunch specials, and desserts are 10/10. There’s a WiFi and an area to work, as well as a nice garden outside for work/seating where dogs are welcome!!!!!! Love this place
really great bartender. We went at a not very busy time, but the bartender was super friendly and even gave us ideas on places to get food because we went after their kitchen closed. He was super sweet and helpful, and good drinks!
Great place to drop in and watch Liverpool play. Gerard was a fantastic host to a LFC fan from New Zealand.
I have had the chicken caesar salad, buffalo wings, cheese burger and mash and something else (i am unable to remember right now) but the food is always good. At times the place can be so busy that you have to go to the bar to order table food. A hot spot near Barclays, so when all the games are being played there they are booked and busy. A food spot for quick and good food. Open late. Drinks hit as well.
Can’t believe I never reviewed my favorite local bar. Has surprisingly good food, especially the burger. My favorite bartenders (Gerry, Collette) always make me feel welcome, reasonable prices. The place will get crowded before/after any events at the Barclay center so sometimes I will check that schedule before going over but that’s never really stopped me from going
We had the fish & chips and the buffalo cauliflower on a football Sunday. The service was great, the food was tasty and the atmosphere was welcoming.
Came back here to visit home and watched the OKC vs Pacers playoff game. Calm environment and friendly bartender. Had fun sitting at the bar and made some new friends. Ended up hanging out way pass the time the game was over. Highly recommend to chill here and catch a sporting event. Very close to the train and a lot of other fun places are walkable I actually came here after a botanical gardens visit and walked up an appetite.
A solid Irish pub with great selection of brews and professional and friendly staff. Good for drinks before or after your visit to Barkley's Center.
This place was a vibe ! The only reason why I knew about it was because I was heading to Buffalo Wild Wings but it was shut down forever. Like dang ! My friend and I found the closest bar and this was it. It had angry orchard which my friend love. I got my Tito’s with club soda and splash of cranberry juice. This the spot where you don’t want the younger crowd distracting your peace. I will come back. We tried the wings which was dry but the calamari was great. I will come back again for sure.
Walked in looking for a quick place to relax, grab a drink and eat some food! Gerry made great recommendations and everything was delicious! It's definitely going to be a top place for me to hang out now!
Had an amazing time here!! This is a great bar if you want to watch sports. I was there yesterday for the Liberty game. Even with a full bar/restaurant, Jorge our server was so pleasant. He was very attentive and made sure we were doing good. Will definitely be back!! :)
The server was very nice and the chicken barley soup was so good.
Jerry the bartender is Great! He is friendly and his service is top tier! From the first time I came here Jerry was so friendly, and the atmosphere was so inviting that I have kept coming back. A good spot to go to for pregaming before a show at the Barclays.
Great bar - was served by Katie & Colette, so lovely and personable and made my experience so wonderful. Will 100% be back!!
We had a retirement party here at Mcmahon’s. The food was great. The staff was awesome. We had an amazing time! Thank you for everything! From Annette
my family and i came here for my college graduation, and the graduation itself was less than less than enjoyable. Jerry the bartender made our initially stressful & disappointing graduation experience, one that I will never forget! We are from out of town and will make a point to come back and visit Jerry, he made our experience a FANTASTIC one! He was incredibly personable, kind and had great stories to tell. Thank you Jerry for turning around an originally miserable experience into an enjoyable, fun, and unforgettable. WE LOVE JERRY!!!!
Found this great pub on a Saturday morning trying to find a place to watch my soccer team play. Was visiting from Colorado so wasn’t sure I’d find a pub open at 7:30 am. Jerry was awesome, and got the TVs on for the premier league match! They have a great selection of draft beers too.
Very close to Barclays. We were actually not there due to Barclays. Good food and reasonable prices. Very friendly staff who really were hustling and efficient and polite. Owner was there at the time and it was cool he was assisting staff instead of getting in the way as some owners might.
Me and my wife where over at Christmas from Ireland, we found this lovely friendly bar ,the barman Jimmy is from swords dublin Ireland is real gentleman and made us really welcome unfortunately it was are last day.next time in new York will be going back lovely bar.
POV: solo female traveller. First night in Brooklyn and discovered this bar when rolling my luggage past on my way to my accommodation. Had to go back and so glad I did. Its super close to the Barclay Center and the metro. Excellent friendly service from George which made me feel welcome and I may of stayed longer than anticipated because the bar was very laud back and friendly. Don’t pass this place without stopping by!
Had the best time! Mike was awesome and met really cool patrons. Can't wait to make my way back to Brooklyn to go there.
Had the BEST evening here. Jerry was the best bartender, so nice, friendly, and very active, didn’t have to wait for service at all. The food and drinks were amazing and I will definitely make the trip back out here!
Great little spot- good Guinness and the older Irish gentleman behind the bar (didn’t catch his name!) is lovely 👍
Ate here before an NBA game across the street. Good food, good prices, lots of TVs for the kids watching sports. Only about 2 minute walk to the Barclays Center which was nice.
We had our daughter’s baptism reception in the 2nd floor event space on 12/6/25 and it was perfect for us. We had about 56 people and the space worked out so well for that amount, though it can definitely hold more. The food was delicious (chicken parm, roast beef, salad, penne, roast potatoes) and the two staff we had were amazing. It was decorated for Christmas which added a really nice festive flair to the party, and Mike’s staff were able to set out centerpieces, fake flowers, and favors that I had dropped off the night before. They were very flexible and accommodating during the planning process. We would definitely work with McMahon’s again.
Came here with my son tonight we got last minute tickets to the nets vs knicks while on holidays, a legit Irish bar with legit Irish people, as a Dub I felt so welcome food was lovely staff where so nice, recommend this to any Irish in Brooklyn
McMahon’s Public House offers a classic pub experience with a warm, old-school charm. The rich wood interior, brick walls, and vintage sports memorabilia create a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxing with friends or catching a game. The long bar is impressive, featuring a wide lineup of draft beers and a well-stocked selection of spirits. Multiple TVs ensure you won’t miss any sports action, no matter where you sit. The dining area is spacious, with plenty of tables for larger groups, and the upstairs area adds extra room for events or busy nights. While the menu posted outside shows familiar pub favorites, the real draw here is the inviting vibe, friendly staff, and great drink selection that keeps guests coming back.
Picked this place because my friend wanted to watch a football match before we went over to Barclay's Center. This was some of the best pub grub I've ever had. Super friendly service from Jerry and the team that took over after his shift. Thank you!
Great food drinks and service. Busy spot when I came in but my bartender was hustling and took great care of me and the other crowd. Tap selection was awesome, and the food was better than expected.
Came to Brooklyn from out of town. Was wandering around the city and stopped in for a quick beer. That quick beer turned into chatting with Gerry for hours about music, life, and whatever else. Such a cool dude, such a great bar!
I had an amazing night here, the customer service and the drinks were absolutely amazing. We asked the server Katie for recommendation’s and they were all really good. They also show the live games on tv and will show any game you ask for. I will for sure be back! Highly recommend
My family and I came here to celebrate following my graduation, since it was last minute and we didn’t make reservations anywhere else. I’m so happy we did! Jerry was on staff, and was super accommodating for such a big party that just came waltzing through the door. The food was so good 🤤 and the drinks did exactly what they needed to do. We all had a great time and it was the perfect atmosphere and vibe for a laid back celebration. Thank you so much Jerry for your amazing service! (And thank you Chef for the amazing food!!) 🩵
Home made style food. Don’t expect restaurant level quality. We Like the atmosphere there and people are very friendly. They also have space for large group of people.
Typical bar food, but high quality. The Irish nachos are my favourite and they are fantastic. The food is a little slow to come out so plan to be there awhile. Hard to have a quick lunch there but service is good and the food is great, so worth the trip.
Good place to watch a game. Food is fine, pretty much what you expect from this type of pub/sports bar. Good atmosphere and beer selection.
Went to a Retirement Party here on Friday Night. The set up was great and the food was tasty. I enjoyed the outdoor seating in the backyard and glass enclosed deck upstairs!! Wish I had known about this spot during warmer weather 😊
very solid service, both bartender & waiter were attentive. being a group of 5, we had a table in the back. food and drinks were also quite solid and reasonably priced for the area. no major complaints whatsoever. when the weather gets warmer, we're hoping the air conditioning is on. what helped us decide to give them a try: all day Irish breakfast, all in all it was a very good experience!
There are pubs by the dozen and this pub fits into that category. Although McMahon has a lay back no pressure pub. They are attentive though not over bearing. The bartender is a good guy, that tops most bartenders in knowledge and execution. First time I had a black 'n tan and got it right. I MUST preface this review, that I went there on a Saturday around 3:00 pm. I do hope to return on a busier night to get the vide more accurately. Worth a look see. P.S. there are 6 large tv that show different channels ( don't be afraid to ask for a different channel (our bartender made it happen. Thank You 🙃
Stopped for lunch and had the incredible lunch special fish tacos (3!), plus fries. Wanted a local craft brew, a BBA stout, if possible, though there were some good local summer choices. That wasn't too be, so opted for a New Belgium Fat Tire. Others, with me, had the veggie burger and loved it. Great choice, for lunch!
I like McMahon’s Public House for what it is, a big laid-back neighborhood bar where you can catch a game, grab some drinks, and hang out with friends. It has that old school Irish pub feel mixed with a loud sports bar vibe. The place is huge with two floors and even some outdoor space, so there’s usually a spot to sit unless something major is going on at Barclays across the street. The bartenders are cool and usually pretty quick, even when it’s packed. The drink selection covers all the basics with beers, cocktails, and whatever else you might want. The food is exactly what you’d expect from a spot like this. The wings are probably my favorite, always juicy and well-sauced. I’ve also had the fish and chips and the quesadilla, both solid choices when you just want something easy after a few drinks. It definitely gets loud during big games, but if you are into that energy, it works. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here, but if I’m in the area or heading to something at Barclays, it’s a fun and dependable place to hang.
Totally fine sort of corporate reimagining of an Irish pub for big crowds. The burgers are good and inexpensive. The beer is cold. In nights that nothing is happening at Barclay's it can be sort of relaxing. Maybe a few too many tvs and too loud when a game is on, but it is essentially a sports bar
Called to watch Leed United game in the afternoon before our Brooklyn Nets game in the evening. Bar staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere. Came back for a couple of pints after the Nets game and it was rammed. Still got served quickly. Deffo visit again.
My friend and I came here before a concert. This is conveniently located near Barclay's. The place is spacious. The prices are reasonable. The food is ok for pub food. We had Fried Calamari, which was decent. My friend had the Quesadilla, which she seemed to like. I had the Chicken fingers, they were edible bit on little on the dry side possibly because of the breading. The bartenders are nice but it's very busy so there isn't much interchange in terms of communication. The decor is warm. I'm glad we stopped by. Would I come back? I don't know, maybe on a weekday.
Came here after a Nets game and enjoyed a tasty fish and chips. The fish was battered great and was especially crispy. The loaded fries were ok the cheese was not 100% melted but other than that the fries were crispy and had the right amount of salt. The service was great and we were seated promptly
Big crowd especially on Nets game nights. Cool place, great beer selections, good pub menu, I did not eat since I was headed to the game, I thought I would miss tip off. The reason rated so slow was the service. None of the staff moved fast even though most of the people were headed to the game. I only got to order 2 beers, I wanted food but the server never came back to the table. They accept credit and debit cards.
Decent, chill bar. The food is good - not great but passable, and the drinks are good, not great but passable. It's a really friendly vibe. Karaoke on Saturdays is a lot of fun. Crowd can be a little rambunctious after Barclay Center events, but otherwise it's very relaxed.
The Prices were reasonable and I had very good service here. However I will say this is the exact type of Irish pub you expect when you imagine one. So if you were wanting to try something different or new or just have a diverse eating experience, maybe go somewhere else. If you want a standard pub and a few drinks then this place will do right by you. Nice staff.
I saw the owner ,Mike, being very abusive to some members of staff when he thought nobody was looking. Some of the bartenders , were quite disrespectful to the waiters and runners. Along with the owner and some of the bartenders clearly being drunk on the job. One called Derbhla could hardly talk but I think this was because of a lack of elocution in her upbringing rather than her being drunk and another guy called Shane may have been on something stronger than alcohol which added negatively to his already repulsive behavior. But the servers were good as were some of the bartenders and the food was lovely.
A very beautiful typical NY Irish bar. The bar was slow with one bartender/server working. The bar tender started up a conversation with a couple and never refilled our drinks. When we finally got the the bartenders attention we just asked for the check and went to the next bar. They do serve food but I didn't order any.
It saddens me to write this review. I've been coming here for years . I think maybe since not long after Barclays was built (so nearly a decade) - for events and pre and post games since I'm a season ticket holder for the Nets and NY Liberty - so perfect proximity. It also became my World Cup go-to last year if I wanted to watch a morning match in a pub - since that's hard to find in BK and I wasn't trying to go up to the Football Factory at 8am in the winter. Yesterday, I had the worst experience here. I came in to watch the Man City match on a nice summer Friday, 3pm. Bar was as expected - about 10-15 people or so. Not busy or overwhelming from a service perspective; however, the service experience I had was gaslighty and just bizarre. You can substitute a burger patty with a Beyond Burger patty - which is something I love about this place as a person who hasn't eaten meat in over 20 years. I ordered the Brooklyn Burger and sub the patty - I had to explain what the Beyond Patty was to the bartender but was and how's the menu says you can substitute it but I was not too worried. Hot day, cold beer, match is on, burger incoming - all is right in the world. The burger comes out - and it's covered in what I think was rashers/bacon. I tell the bartender that the order is incorrect. She says I ordered the "McMahon Burger", which I didn't - didn't even know that was a menu option because if I read "topped in bacon" - I ignore it. Even if I did order it- if I was taking someone's order and they emphasized that they wanted a vegetarian burger and swapped out the meat patty - I would probably double check with them if they were certain that they wanted their veggie burger topped with bacon. THEN after looking absolutely confused by me wanting to send it back she said that they'll just take to bacon off. I said that I preferred it if they'd either cook another or re-sear it because I'd like to not taste bacon on my burger and you would have thought I asked her to make me souffle, blindfolded with one hand behind her back in 10 minutes or less. Eventually, after some back and forth she says it's okay they'll do it and the burger comes out as ordered. It was good, although eaten with discomfort considering her reaction to my request and the stray black olive on my plate. I have my one beer and then switch to water bc I'm driving. When I ask for my bill she asks if she can just run it (I had my card open). I say yes. She comes over with the receipt and apologized about the burger incident and says that she "comped my SECOND beer for the mix-up". I think it's odd since I only had one beer. I look at the receipt - no beer comp and charged for a McMahon Burger. I guess she comped my tap water. I didn't feel like it was worth further discussion so I just let it be and still tipped her 20%, albeit begrudgingly because that's how I am. I hope that this incident was just an off day for her and maybe in a few weeks or months I'll pop in again and hope for a more normal experience. Overall, it was just odd and gaslighty between the bacon burger, the non-existent beer "comp", and I didn't even get into how frustrated she was about having to change a single tv channel to put on the first match of the Premier League Season in a sports bar that is pub that is traditionally so soccer friendly that they'll open up at 7am to show matches.
The bartender made a weak old fashioned. Their chicken nachos were strangely seasoned.
I went to this bar a couple of times and it was awesome: great mozzarella sticks, delicious fish and chips, good beer, super attentive and friendly (male) bartender. Then, I went on a day in which there were two female servers and they were both awful, starting by not defining who was serving me: both of them came at different times to take the same order or ask the same thing again. The last straw was when one of them kept asking me if I was OK, what else I wanted, if I wanted the bill, yelling at me from the other end of the bar instead of walking towards me for two seconds and talking to me like a normal person instead of an unwanted pet.
Its been over 15 minutes and i still have not gotten my lemon and water. The friend i cane with was able to get his food and eat it before i got my water. Terrible service. Lost my appetite to even order dood anymore.
Place is a dump and there is no service even at 5 PM on a Tuesday when the bar guy says kitchen “has been open since 11 am”. Just one guy working the bar and he couldn’t care less for anyone not tipping him. You can do a lot better in Brooklyn. Save your time and money.
Came to check out this spot before the Nets game. Food was good but the service sucked. Waitress never came back after we got our food. Wanted a second drink but was turned off by the horrible service and just wanted to get out of there. Had to signal for her to bring the bill. My bf left her a small tip, but if it was up to me she wouldn't have gotten nothing. First and last time there.
