Ordered the short ribs with sweet potato and collard greens!!!! And that damn good peach cobbler. The dinner as always was insanely delicious. Ribs are cooked to perfection!!! Customer service is always on point with a ☆☆☆☆☆ rating and prices for this home cooked sized portion is fair!!!! I always leave a $5 minimum tip (the friendly service and food are that good!!!).Make sure try everything on the menu. Been going there for years!!!! They're open Wed - Sat til 9pm!

The food is really really good. The chicken is moist and just fall off the bone. The short ribs are soft and super flavorful. Great cornbread too! The sides i loved most were the yams and baked macaroni. The yams especially are a must! Dessert was fire too. Getting your food can be a bit slow but totally worth it just be patient! The staff is all very knowledgeable and friendly as well.

The beef 🍖 ribs were cooked to perfection... the meat comes off the bone with little resistance, and the hot option is the perfect kick of heat. The cabbage 🥬 and rice and peas were also prepared to just the right consistency - nothing mushy here and packed with flavor. Not overly salty. The dinner plate is a good size - I was able to tackle half and I'm definitely looking forward to the other half for later... The corn bread is also good - a little bit more on the crumbley side but not dry. Overall a tasty experience!

I really enjoyed the mac and cheese, I would be getting this again on my next visit. Service is excellent too, the staff is very attentive and professional. I would highly recommend!

Brought my parents here who were visiting from out of town and they can’t stop talking about how amazing the barbecue ribs and chicken were. The Mac and cheese and collard greens are my favorite. As usual.EOYAL RIB never disappoints. It's been awhile since I've visited this great Soul food establishment, but the taste is undeniable. Whether you're after fried chicken, smothered turkey wings or BBQ ribs, you can't go wrong. They also have great side dishes. From the collard greens, to the potato salad and delicious mac' n cheese. For dessert they got the choice of apple or peach cobbler. I chose the fried chicken, Mac n' cheese with peach cobbler. Depending.on what time.you get there,you may have to wait for the cobbler. I waited 30mims, but it was well worth the wait once I got home. Everything was so good. The chicken was juicy, the skin was crunchy, not soggy and it was well seasoned, not too salty. The Mac n' cheese was cheesy and creamy. You can taste the multiple cheeses used. The peach cobbler was perfection. It was a great combination of crumble and peach and sweet deliciousness. perfect with some vanilla ice cream. Located in Bed-Stuy on Malcolm X/ Halsey, it's easy to reach by B46 bus. So my mom has been wanting to go to this place for 4 months since seeing it on the news one morning. I wasn't as excited to go as she was.... Bayyyybeeee she ordered a Rib dinner and I ordered a BBQ Chicken dinner. The chicken is absolutely amazing 😋 the Rice and Peas were singing a tune to my beating heart 💓. The Mac n Cheese was good.. the Collards tho someone made that with true love and conviction Do ya hear me! I don't eat potato salad at all (don't cancel me) but sweet baby Jesus in the flesh okkkayyy... the Potato Salad ion care what they put in it was on a different level than any potato salad you'll ever have I GUARANTEE IT 💯. For the price of the dinner the portions are everything! I just didn't care for the cornbread... it had rasins in it which is not how I eat my cornbread but hey to each his/her own. OH how did I forget the Peach Cobbler... someone must've stuck an elbow along with their foot in it because it truly is the Bees Knees 🐝 🤣😍 The only thing they didn't advertise about this place is that once the food hits ya soul and the pit of ya stomach I promise the next thing you'll see will be the back of your eyelids 😴

I’m so happy they are back and open for business. I went the first day they opened and of course the line was so long but hey it was their grand opening what else would you expect? The food is just as good as it was before. I was worried they would change a recipe or two but no everything is just s I remembered. Best chop bbq sandwich in nyc! Everyone on the line bragged about how good the food was and the memories they had of this place. Make sure you stop by hopefully the lines will die down as time goes on but it’s worth the wait either way!

Kept me informed of my order status, which was very nice because a lot of places you go to your just standing around waiting with no clue on the status of your order. Also, the person who took my order ensured line by line that every item ordered was packed in the Togo bag before leaving the store. A lot of times you leave a place all to find out they forgot a portion of your order. But not here, and that made me happy also knowing I had a big order. feels like an institution and for good reason- the food here is pretty much home cooking on a scale that could make any new yorker happy to have their own local bbq joint. the meat was perfectly tender without falling completely apart, and the sides are just as tasty. the vinegar profile is what sets it apart from any bbq i’ve had prior. service is a little slow maybe but would you want food made with love to be treated otherwise? absolutely can’t wait to return and try everything else!! the blueberry cornbread was just a cherry on top!

I got here right off the train on a Saturday night. I ordered their barbecue ribs with sides of macaroni and coleslaw. They also gave me a piece of cornbread. Overall the food was generous and tasted good. I was not the biggest fan of the barbecue sauce but did enjoy how meaty it was. There's not much space to eat in the building, with just two tables and a handful of chairs. I suppose it is better for those who live nearby and can take it home.

The place has upgraded from it's old location this is my first visit to Royal since they closed down on Halsey Street. I tried the Mac and cheese, collard greens,and chopped barbecue. The food was good but the chopped barbecue was more like a pull pork I had to grind it up and when I did that it tasted like when I purchased it at their old place.The staff is very friendly but truthfully they have to set up a plan to serve the people who come to their establishment people were waiting over a hour for their orders they have to come up with a better system.I would come back to show support to not only a black run establishment but one that has a history with the community of Bed-Stuy.

I decided to revisit the Rib House a year later, after my previous review especially since they now have a Wednesday & Thursday special going on (12:30 to 3:30 pm). I arrived at 12:48 pm and gave in my order. I would say there was 4 people a head of me, yet it took over an hour to receive my order. I must give a thumbs up on the food compared to a year ago. The ordering system is a bit flaky and somewhat chaotic. The staff is friendly and hospitable, and the music kept me nicely distracted while waiting. I have been a customer so far back that I am not giving up on Royal, because their ribs plus that sauce cannot be imitated.

Good food. Staff is polite but and this is a big but, they are ALWAYS overwhelmed. From start of the order to finished plate in your hand, there's delays. They need a pro to come in and consult on making things run more efficiently. Back of house and front. The order food items are cooked in, how food is brought from the back, prepping the plates for take out, taking orders etc. They are always way behind. Expect to place an order and wait half an hour minimum. Maybe they also need two more staff people? Staff is always polite and apologetic.

When you had your hole in the wall spot the food was amazing. I got sick because I ate so much peach cobbler that how much I love it. Now you totally fell off the ribs had this weird smell I don't know if it was vinegar or what but I still took a chance. Nah for those prices that food should taste like heaven. Everything else on the plate was good but the ribs and the short ribs nah im good on that. Your falling off.

Ridiculously long lines, the wait time was over an 1hr 20 min in addition to the food being inconsistent….. I’ve eaten from here twice the first time everything was really good. The second time I ordered the same thing as my first order which was: ribs, greens, black-eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, the blueberry cornbread and peach cobbler. With my last order, I was extremely disappointed because the food tasted sour and didn’t taste fresh. The people at the counter do the best that they can with taking the orders however, their system needs updating and their method of pushing out the food requires some re-organization.

I love the food, especially the barbecue sauce but the wait for food is unreal. Sometimes after walking in the store, there is a line to order. Then after the order is made you may have to wait for a half an hour or more for food that's already prepared and sitting on the hot plates. Meanwhile, this guy who serves the food is bouncing around and peeking at you from the corner of his eye. If he catches your eye, he'll say, "I got you" and then you'll wait another 20 minutes. All the while, there may be only 4 or 5 people in the store just waiting around. Frankly, I don't understand it. I"ve even had conversations with other patrons and one lady told me that she ordered her food by telephone and by the time she traveled from her home in Queens to Brooklyn, she still had to wait 30 minutes for her order.

I was really excited to visit this place as it was noted that the owners are from the same family who owned the original Royal Rib House at Halsey St. And Throop Ave. The original Royal Rib was the first place I had BBQ Rib in 1977 and was my go-to spot in the late 70's and 80's. Walked in during the afternoon, there were 3 people a head of me. Young lady taking orders was polite and friendly. Order a large bbq ribs, large side of potatoe salad, and large side of candid yams. Waited 40 minutes to receive my order. The bbq sauce, although it was good, was not quite the same as the original. The ribs were acceptable but were not very tender. The sides were slightly above average but enjoyable. My wife thought the potatoe salad was a little sweet. The price point was a bit high but not unreasonable. Overall, I would visit here again (order ahead) for pickup.

Came in for dinner takeout, two hour wait. It was a frustrating experience. Waiting partons said its always packed. Diningroom was small and packed. I would have left but since I was there I stayed. I won't do it again. The food was good though, I just don't feel it was worth the waiting time. The staff seemed warn out so I didn't expect much from them anyway. I was told they did not deliver. 2 1/2 stars for the food only.

This used to be good when they first opened at this new location. I purchased three dinners, two fish and one Short Rib. The only thing I was satisfied with was the collard greens. The other items were either too salty or completely lacking taste. I will not be going there again. I paid too much for food that no one enjoyed.

Pretty disappointed, honestly. This place had great reviews, couldn’t wait to try it. The Chicken Leg meal (came with a leg and thigh) was tiny. The mac & cheese was awful. The chopped BBQ sandwich tasted like straight up vinegar and there was a loose twist-tie (like from a bread bag) in my sandwich. I wish I was kidding. The cornbread was dry and crumbled to bits. The only pro was that the candied yams were delicious and the portion of the yams & the sandwich was good (even if the meat was not). The menu is more expensive now than what’s on Google, and it’s just not worth it. I really wanted to like this place… maybe if you went on a weekend it would be better, but Thursday afternoons aren’t it.

I've passed by this place for years, and finally decided to order fried chicken. Unfortunately, it tasted like old oil, and I’m pretty sure they cooked it in cheap, trashy oil. The chicken was dry and salty, and the ribs were just okay. I did enjoy the BBQ sauce, though it has a nice tang. The mac and cheese was terrible; the cheese was congealed rather than melted, and the noodles were overcooked. The collard greens were good, but pairing them with the tangy ribs was a bit overwhelming. The cornbread was nasty I won’t be ordering from here again. I think the BBQ sauce works best on chicken, not ribs, which I believe should have a smoky flavor. The ribs fell off the bone easily, which isn’t impressive since that’s pretty standard. I spent $45 on Uber rides and wasted my time and money. The person who made the mac and cheese clearly doesn’t understand the science of good cheese you need a funky cheese, a melting cheese, and a flavorful cheese. Instead, it was just congealed cheese on overcooked noodles. Overall, takeout here is disappointing, and I prefer cooking my own meals to avoid this kind of trash.

I've been going to royal rib going back to the original location and have always loved their food. I went there today after running errands in downtown Brooklyn. I arrived just as they were opening. Unfortunately, I still spent an hour in there waiting for my food. The server only thought to let me know the hold up after I was there 45 minutes. I always put on my patient hat when I go there because I expect the best food so i dont mind waiting too much. After getting back home to New Jersey to eat I found the mac cheese to be mushy and the potato salad to be too sweet and runny. The ribs were good and so was the chopped BBQ sandwich and greens. I was extremely disappointed overall. I will not be going back anytime soon and will only buy ribs and chopped BBQ when and if I do return. I spent entirely too much time and money to be so disappointed. I suggest that they make sure all items on the menu are done before opening or at least let customers know immediately what is not ready so better choices can be made. I hope someone at the restaurant reads this and makes the appropriate changes.

First, they kept me on hold for over an hour. Second, when they were on Halsey and troop the food was good. Now yesterday, September 2, 2022. I brought sides, since I was on the phone waiting so long I ended up frying up my own chicken. Very disappointed. I grew up in brooklyn. Remember going to the rib house when it was on Halsey Street. The food was good. I traveled all the way from Westchester hoping to get the fresh Fried fish I remembered from back in the days, just to get home to see that the fish is actually frozen whitings for $16. Please make it make sense. The potato salad was way to Loose and way too sweet. Mac & Cheese not mixed right (looks eggy). Honestly, what happened?The only thing I enjoyed was the greens and cabbage, which is also over priced. A waste of $50.00. Sorry last visit ever.....

My family and I start going here when they was on Hasley street. We went just about ever Saturday. Service has dropped so much that I will no longer support them. The lady took my order was rude and didn't give me proper information and charged me for items they didn't have. Items was also missing from my order. The meats are still good (all we wanted). But the lady taking my order insisted that I had to get the sides which was disgusting. Total waste of my money.

After all the hype from several people about the old location I was extremely disappointed. I had the chopped barbecue sandwich with a side of collard greens. The only way I can explain the taste of everything is gentrified. Absolutely no smoky flavor in the greens, too sweet, and too heavy handed with the crushed red pepper. They need to throw that greens recipe away and find somebody's auntie or Nana that can actually cook to make their greens. The chopped barbecue lacked flavor as well and the sauce had too much tang and no actual flavor. They need to go down to North Carolina and ask somebody's uncle how to make a proper chopped barbecue. This food is clearly not cooked with love and it shows. I wanted so bad for this to be good, but it was just bad. Get the old cook and the old recipes back because what y'all got going on now ain't it.

Was so excited to see they had opened back up. Dashed to get a rib dinner Mac n cheese and string beans. The price went up, as they FELL OFF! The milk was curtailing in the Mac n cheese, this was not eatable. The ribs tasted like they put too much vinegar in the sauce. I wanted to cry. This makes me mad and sad. Pull up Unroyal ribs!. We can’t have nothing nice!

Old and out dated. And the food is cooked to fast. You a pair of plyers to get the meat off the bone. Amazing this place has been around over 50yrs. The interior decor hasn't changed on iota over that time. They have a loyal customer base, which they abuse to no end. Only open 3 days. For reason have they go full blast. Resulting in the meat not cooked properly

Well, the ROYAL RIB was closed down when I went there today, I've been calling, but no one never answered, I thought they were just really busy. It was a wasted trip. If there were a message on the answer machine or emails saying closed down or something, it would have made a difference

This use to be our weekly soul food spot. Delicious food from friendly people. I c it's still the same cooks. They continue to greet u kindly, but after that everything else has changed. They use to have the best rib & chopped BBQ. Now is awful. The greens taste canned. & the mac & cheese. They shouldn't even call that mac & cheese. They should continue 2 prepare the food their original way. That's what put them on the map. This crossover stuff is not working. That blueberry cornbread, come on, you know better than that. Whose doing the tasting for them now?

I read all the reviews before ordering on ubereats and decided to order seeing mostly good reviews. This food is INEDIBLE. For 30$ I got ribs, Mac n cheese, and rice and beans. The Mac is mushy and saltless and not cheesy gooey—it’s like scrambled eggs. The meat is vinegary and oversalted. The rice and beans have the strangest chemical taste to them and almost taste burnt? So dissapointed had 3 bites. There’s ok food and then there’s horrible food. I wonder how the owners even eat this? I have never reviewed before online it was this bad and the owners need to know. There is no way they eat this and enjoy it. I can’t even believe it. Someone who didn’t even know how to cook and looked the recipes up online could make better food than this. I’m so serious.

This is food for section 8 people. No offence. It's BBQ for brooklyn ppl that never had good southern bbq so they don't know any better. I swear there’s nothing special at all. They're so slow and the owner refuses to hire more staff. They open whenever they feel like. You never know when they're out of meats.wow. The guy cutting the meat doesn't even wear gloves or wash his hands. Mind you he also takes the trash out and goes straight back to chopping the meat with unwashed hands but wait why is the meat chopper taking the trash out too? I watch the meat chopper grabbing germinated stuff around their kitchen and never washes his hand. Lol He grabs the tongs by the teeth side... Line is too long. People complain about the queue but say nothing when they're getting their food which encourages the business to continue with slow service. Nice people but for BBQ this basic they can run their business more efficiently with a bit of more effort. If you know what real bbq is, you will be extremely disappointed. Prepare to wait 1-4 hours for a simple order. You gotta be quite stupid to wait in line for this restaurant. You can make better food in your home. Next time you’re at royal rib, look at the kind of ppl in line waiting hours for food and ask yourself a heavy question. Do you have a job?

I ordered the smothered turkey with rice and peas and mac & cheese. The rice and peas were very dry the turkey was not good Goodat all All

Food was trash…… cold and salty fry chicken 🍗 worst I had. Corn bread stale taste like it was from thanksgiving SMH IDK WHY I WASTED MY MONEY NEVER AGAIN INSIDE WAS DEAD AND EMPTY WHAT A WASTE!!!!!!! Ugh I’m so mad

I'm totally disappointed with the food and the price. Mac n Cheese looks & taste like cheese n eggs. The fish was rubbery. The potatoes salad was runny. I bid them farewell, because im never returning. 70.00 wasted on 4 inedible meals.

When they first opened the food was on point now the mac and cheese is tasteless , the coleslaw is tasteless definitely not the same.

A family member of mine just left from there and received a bowl full of grease. She ordered chopped bbq that cost her $21 and it was filled with grease. UNACCEPTABLE! This is grease not gravy or I thought bbq would be smh

I moved to Long Island two years ago. Today ( 6/4/25)I went back home to see my great niece off to her prom. I decided to get Royal Rib House which I have not had in two years. I had a rib dinner with Mac and cheese and greens. I also brought a side order of chopped barbecue. I ordered through Uber Eats. The ribs were decent not like I had before. The greens were okay and so was the barbecue. The Mac and Cheese was disgusting. It was burnt and cradled. Sometimes when a batch comes out subpar, you just have to toss and start over again. How could they serve anyone this Mac and cheese.? Sooooo disappointing. I always rave about Royal Rib House. I requested a refund from Uber Eats.

I was so excited to try the food after how amazing the place smelt. I was picking up a delivery for uber and told my boyfriend that we should try the food here. I ordered the bbq rib meal with collard greens and yams and my boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with Mac n yams. We also ordered a side of Mac for me. When we arrived home and opened the plates, I realized the collard greens were missing. The bbq ribs did not taste good at all. The smell of the sauce was indescribable. A very weird smell that I’ve never smelt in my life. The Mac and cheese was horrible as well. I did not smell or taste cheese. The yams were tasteless. I’m truly disappointed. Will never go back and would not recommend.
