Me and my bf ate here two weeks ago and the food was delicious! 🤤 I got the fried fish, cheese grits, with shrimp and a pineapple mimosas. He got the fried catfish and waffles. Everything was so flavorful! We ate every bite! The service was great and we dined at an outside table. Definitely recommend 😋

Note that you can’t get seated until your whole party’s there (even a party of two). A reservation is recommended so you don’t have a long wait. The chicken and waffles are good but my chicken was fried a bit too long. Our Bellinis were nice and very sweet. My friend’s French toast was amazing and tasted good with some of my fried chicken too. I look forward to exploring more of the menu!

I’ve done delivery meals and they were good, finally did dine in and it was okay. My fish was bigger in delivery it felt more like nuggets this time vs. the filet but taste was good. The server fixed it though and brought another piece of fish. Small having to go to basement but it’s NYC and rent is high so I get it! Will be back to support!

Decent, moderately spacious busy space. Got the fish and chips. Good taste, quantity was way too much. Their blackened salmon is actually good. Also got the red velvet waffle which was good. A good spot overall.

A major shout out to whoever’s funk/disco mix that was. Grilled shrimp and grits were a 3/5: rubbery and overcooked shrimp, but decent buttery grits. I did request a side of seasoning, but that’s really more a reflection of how much i love old bay than the dish itself if we’re really getting down to it Cinnamon donut waffle was a 5/5: super sweet and exactly what it sounds like

Overall the place wasn’t bad, I came for girls brunch and the food was edible. The flavors are there for sure, but my food was overcooked. The chicken was very dry but the cinnamon waffle was delicious enough to get over the dryness. Loved my waiter, he was a joy. My friend very much enjoyed her grits. I tried to be generous with the atmosphere but the downstairs had no service, hated that.

Visited Shane's on son's suggestion on Monday 12/30. The hostess was fantastic and staff pleasant. However, $69 (with 15% tip) for breakfast is expensive. I ordered the big breakfast and coffee (with cheddar added to the eggs, which was almost undetectable in sight or taste. Food was served lukewarm and the waffle barely that. Not only that the waffle wasn't soft. I did not eat it. My biggest issue was the price vs portion size. I must note that the FANTASTIC hostess satisfactorily explained the selection and lack of a full sized waffle. She also offered to remake the 1/2 waffle, but I declined. Other items being served looked good, specifically the fried fish and grit options, which looked plentiful and are less expensive (circa $17). I do plan to give the place another chance as the staff was very nice. But I am wiser to the big breakfast choice.

It's unfortunate that I've rated this Black Owned Brunch establishment this low, especially since we hadn't patronized this restaurant prior. The food was great. I'm sooooo disappointed with the service we received. Instead of bashing, I hope this reaches those it should and that it would be received as constructive criticism. We were warmly greeted when we entered. It wasn't crowded. The atmosphere felt nostalgic, clean, and compartmentalized (the entryway, hostess area, the bar, the 1st dining section, down a small staircase, and then another dining area, which had 2 sides. We were ushered to the very rear. Nearly 10 mins before the waiter greeted our table. Her 1st visit, we weren't ready to order beyond beverages, water came to the table thereafter. About the 20 min mark, another staff (unsure if it was a waitress) who came to check on us citing our server was busy. It was busy, and we witnessed the surrounding tables seated and some that had even finished dining while we waited. Our orders went in on her 2nd visit, then our drinks came but they weren't ours actually. My son sipped his apple juice so they let him keep it. We waited some more. An hour; that's the total wait time before our food reached us! All of the surrounding tables were served before ours. Two specifically just about walked in and was tended to within 15 mins, and their meals received 10-15 mins after that. Unacceptable. We checked in at the ½ hour mark and was told our orders got mixed up, and by then we received the correct drinks. How?? Mixed up with whom?? And for how long?? Had the right mind to get up and leave but gave them a chance. Wasn't rude or anything, just highly disappointed trying to make sense of the dilemma. As a courtesy, they offered 15% off the bill, then turned around and added 15% later down the bill. I questioned it. They reduced it again, slightly. Please see the difference pictured. Left her nearly 15% tip anyhow and politely gave a heads up about my pending review that I was asked to reconsider. No, thank you, though I'll give them another chance at a later date.

First time coming to Shane's Brooklyn ; FYI be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes on Sundays since this is a popular brunch spot. The host Chris was great he was able to call our phones and let us know when our table was ready. Once we were seated downstairs we were able to get our drinks fairly quickly. The mimosas are very flavorful & strong; there is three different flavors you can choose from mango, strawberry and I'm not sure if the third one is pineapple or orange. Atmosphere: Basic tables and chairs No-Frills here. Not the place if you looking for decor. Now let's get into the food: I ordered the fried whitening sandwich w/ fries as well as the fried shrimp. My friends ordered the shrimp and grits and the cinnamon waffles. My friends love their food , since they usually come here and they always get the grits. For me the food was mediocre at best but depending on your taste buds you might like it, they did however provided hot sauce and ketchup on the table which helped a lot. The portion size however is amazing!! the only real issue I was having was a lack of flavor; fries wasn't well done and the fried shrimp taste like the oil it was fried in. Our server seems a little bit out of it, I'm not sure if she was tired or on medications that day 🤔 lol. Overall service was good. I would like to give a special shout out to the manager Ken because he was bussing tables as well as checking on everyone's table making sure everyone was okay and enjoying themself. In conclusion would I check this place out again? maybe just NOT on a Sunday and I might try something different on the menu and give this place a second shot.

Food was delicious, especially the cinnamon Belgian waffles...but the service was waaaay off...waited an eternity each time we ordered coffee and cocktails...mixed up some of our order....and forgot part of one dish.. Also, we were seated downstairs which is nice, but there was a rat (not a mouse), crawling around...and an automatic 16% service charge ($32) for only 3 people??? Not with that service. Food is pretty good, but needs a lot of improvement on the service part.

I have been a long time patron of Shane’s Brooklyn and I have to say their customer services really sucks. They don’t even check on you to see if anything is ok. You have to ask for nearly everything from syrup to steak sauce to even your coffee while you wait for the food. On top of that, they have the audacity to throw a 15% service fee on non existent service. I sure hope that 15% is only going to the hardworking chefs and cooks and pleasant bus boys because the waitresses there are unfriendly, unhelpful and don’t deserve a dime. Sadly, today will be my last time going to Shane’s as there are far too many more brunch places in Brooklyn with far greater customer etiquette and service.

I was really excited to eat at Shane's. The food was delicious! But the waitress ruined the experience for me. Before placing my order I asked her a question to clarify before I placing my order because I didn’t understand. She said the side dish did comes with the meal. So when I got the bill I was very surprised! Nothing was done about it I didn't make a fuss and just paid my bill respectfully. I also asked her if was a possibility for to make 2 separate bills to avoid confusion with our group and she did go the extra mile to do it . But I ended up paying for both of us the other person didn’t have enough money . She was very sarcastic and passive aggressive about the whole thing. I understand the frustration, but I wasn't a problematic customer! She needs better training on customer service and also giving accurate answers to the customers questions, that made HUGE difference on my bill!
