Best vanilla latte i have ever had!!! And the best ever chocolate chip cookie - vegan!!! Never Heard of a vegan chocolate cookie, but damn it was delicious!!! Friend staff, small venue but worth stopping by again next time I'm in the area. A must to try in Burbank.
Came here with my wife and baby daughter today for the first time since ore pandemic days and it did not disappoint. They were very helpful and kind and allowed to take my time to order. I wanted the brisket hash brunch meal but i got there after 3 pm so I "settled" for other items. The BLTA (Pastrami bacon lettuce tomato avocado) sandwich was great. The pastrami bacon was delicious and crispy with the heat if both worlds of pastrami and bacon. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich with condiments on the side and it was very filling. The chicken was tasty and juicy and the breading of the chicken was crispy and not soggy at all considering we took our food go. The house made potato chips were light and salty and delicious, mine picked up some of the pastrami peppery flavory for an added kick. The jalapeño coleslaw for the fried chicken Sandwich I had as a side and it was fresh and with a bit of heat. We also ordered a few pastries and coffee to go. Chocolate croissants that's were still soft plus toffee walnut cookies and zucchini vegan chocolate chip bread. That cookie though..... Wow. Cold brew coffee and Cuban coffee were very tasty. Cuban coffee wasn't too sweet which i prefer and is good for my wife. A single espresso shot was also very good. I enjoyed it to the point I bought a bag of coffee. Will definitely be back again soon
Love this place!! I'm here all the time. Great Americano - fantastic pour overs. The food is great. It gets very busy. So give yourself time to order. Seating can be tough at peak times- but this is my go to place so if I just grab my coffee and go I never mind. Americano's are $3 Pour Over $4 Only one size- costs more than Starbucks but it's a different experience and better quality. I'm definitely not a coffee snob - but that's the truth. 🤷♀️
x5 if I could leave a 25 I would. This place is exceptional. Staff was super friendly, great environment. I ordered the pour over coffee, which the staff recommended and it was fabulous. I also had the Pork Belly Burrito which was fantastic and so tasty. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I would highly recommend this place!
Just bought the Ginger Latte and it is the best holiday drink I have ever had. Not understanding why Pumpkin Spice is so popular after drinking this! Can’t wait to have this soon!
Love breakfast potatoes and eggs and cheese sandwiches
I never write reviews but I Looooooove the breakfast and matcha here. The Avacado toast and Burbank biscuits are bomb. I just ordered a lavender Matcha latte and it is KIKLER. Plus my baby loves playing with the chairs. He'll slide that chair around and try to bite it for minutes! (Years in parent time)
We at ADvance INvestments Property Management would like to highlight Commissary Coffee for their outstanding brews and inviting atmosphere. This local favorite consistently serves delicious coffee made from high-quality beans, ensuring a delightful experience with each visit.
The Angelina burrito is delicious, the espresso is high quality, and the atmosphere is great. Will definitely recommend.
This place is great! I shared the Avocado Benedict and the Angeleno Burrito and both were AMAZING! The staff was also very nice. It seems to be a popular restaurant. I definitely want to come back when I'm in town.
Let me start by saying that I had friends who went here and recommended this place for me. They know I love a good cup of coffee. This place has that and more. The playlist was very cool and chill. The baristas were very friendly and cared about what they do. I got a nice Ethiopian pour over and the truffle tater tots. The tater tots were very flavorful and crispy on the outside with a nice softer inside. The pour over was really delicious. Now not every where is perfect and they did get a little side tracked on my pour over but I was promptly refunded and the pour over was made fresh. No questions asked. So good food, good atmosphere, and great customer service. Definitely coming here again.
I visited today and ordered a vanilla latte. The latte was so delicious and it was heated to the perfect drinking temperature. The staff were super nice and awesome and the seating area was clean and comfortable. If I lived in Burbank, this cafe would definitely be a regular stop for me!
Parking lot is small and it's crowded because it's good so expect that. Baristas are classically hipster and were sweet to us. We stood and watched them make our coffee and food and noticed the whole staff melds well together- when not taking an order or prepping food you can see staff straightening things, sweeping the floor, looking for ways to help each other, and just generally making sure everything is clean and looks good. Coffee was tasty, breakfast was tasty (side potatoes were SO crunchy, loved that), and the atmosphere was laid back and cool. Very happy to live nearby.
The Chicken Sandwich was really good, the wife's BLT-E was amazing, and so was the Avocado Toast! I had the Cold Brew, my wife the Vanilla Latte, and we sampled each other's drinks, and they were both really great! Process are about 20% higher than comparable food and coffee at other places, but it's worth a visit every so often. Line was almost non-existent at 11:45 AM on a Thursday, which is not what I expected at all, given the stories and reviews.
This place has a certain vibe and avocado toast. Baristas do latte art and every customer has a laptop and/or camera. What was really awesome about this place was the baguettes! They are not rock-hard, but soft while still crunchy. The Egg and Cheese sandwich is divine. Its not an everyday splurge, because the food and coffee are a little pricey, but its nice for every once-in-a-while.
The brisket hash was one of the best things I've eaten in years! The iced mocha was great too! I am so glad I took a chance on this place. There is a reason the line is almost out the door. Be patient!
I walked out back to grab a table and walked back in to find the barrista and chef just handing me stuff one after the other. It was really that fast. The vegan burrito is amazing. I usually don't expect much from the food at a cafe but wow! Compliments to the chef.
Very good breakfast, amazing burrito I got a brisket burrito and it was very good!! It comes with some nachos and a tomato sauce which is a little spicy. It is very big and I couldn't eat all the nachos. The only thing I didn't like a little was the runny yolk. My boyfriend got the bowl version of the burrito and it was even bigger!!
Such a nice coffee shop to meet up with a friend, have a casual brunch date or do some work. They have a great variety of food options from avocado toast to brisket hash to breakfast burritos. Coffee was yummy and high quality. There's a parking lot behind the shop as well as plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a great place, looking forward to visiting more often.
I stumbled upon Coffee Commissary quite by accident, but I'm truly happy I did. The space was nice and upbeat. The music was vibrant and motivating. They had a plethora of delicious treats on hand as well as nice beverage options. I went for the London fog and it did not disappoint. Since the establishment is dead center in the heart of Burbank the business must be booming from the work crowd alone. As I saud prior, it was a wonder that I found the place at all. Yet, I took the chance and decided that something local far surpassed any chain establishment I would have forced myself to go to instead. I'm glad I made the right decision, and next time I'll go grab a bite to eat as well.
My #1 favorite, best freaking coffee shop in all of CA. I can't recommend this place enough. Try the Chai, Texas Tacos, Avocado Toast, Brisket Burrito, EVERYTHING! The vibe here, the baristas, the food, the coffee, the tea, it is all unbeatable. I love the Gendale location where there is a little downtown area to walk around with fun outside seating. 11/10 spot. I wish I still lived close enough to go every Sunday like we used to!
This place is awesome. It has become my quotidian stop in the morning while I'm here in the LA area. There are several locations I frequent the one on all of and the other one in Kenneth Village. This is one of the few places that really cooks eggs in a pan instead of on the grill so you really can get fluffy runny soft scrambled eggs as they are supposed to be done. The bread from Clark's bakery is awesome and they toast it up on the grill with homemade preserves or comes in one of their many sandwiches. Decent price point and a full coffee barrister nice location with good seatings at the two that I go to parking is never an issue can always find something nearby if not directly by the building
I wish I had a local coffee shop this cool where I live. This was highly recommended by a friend who lives around the corner and I would come here every day.
Super fast service, delicious food, spacious seating, and a wonderful vibe. The Fairfax is DELICIOUS
Consistently staffed by chill people and always serving excellent coffee at a very reasonable price for the neighborhood. Never had the food. Vibe is giving hipster coffee shop without being extra douchey. The space is kinda weird cuz it’s not actually like a real building so when it’s raining it gets… interesting.
This place was really good. Like, reallyyyy good. Their space for parking is... Limited. But other than that, - their internet works well enough that you can have music playing in your headphones while you work - their honey habanero sandwich is LITERALLY the stuff dreams are made of. Oh my goodness it was good. And it came with potato wedges. - the workers overall were pretty nice This is my new favorite coffeeshop in Burbank
Food is surprisingly good here for a coffee shop! Always busy, but line moves quick and good mix of people hanging out and people posting up with laptops.
Love this place! Coffee Commissary consistently serves smooth, high-quality coffee, and the baristas are always welcoming. The space is modern and comfortable—great for catching up with friends or getting some work done. Always a reliable LA coffee spot.
Best beans in Burbank as a coffee snob. As a bonus, their food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend for coffee brews and bites.
I love going to locally owned coffee shops and this one will be my go-to spot when cycling from the valley to LA. Strong coffee (try their iced cubano), delicious treats and plenty of seating (both inside and out).
Gonna keep it short and sweet. Best breakfast burrito I’ve had in LA. Got the veggie breakfast burrito and it was amazing. Make sure you get an extra side of salsa and add an extra egg if you’re feeling crazy
Came in to work on my laptop and have lunch. The food is good, they have Mex Coke and even tho it was lunch rush I was able to sit on a bar table and still plug in to an outlet near a regular table. The vibe is nice and it's always busy. The only reason I give it a 4 for service is that even though they are extremely friendly, when your food comes up they don't say your name *too* loudly, so if you miss it you'd have to check in and look on the ticket to make sure you're grabbing the right order. Otherwise it was easy to work and eat for a couple of hours
Stylish café with serious coffee. The cold brew is bold and smooth without being bitter. Baristas are knowledgeable and always kind. The atmosphere is perfect for work or conversation. Definitely one of the better coffee spots in the Valley.
Trendy coffee shop with unique drinks and pastries. The iced lavender latte is refreshing and different. Seating is a mix of indoor tables and a shaded patio. Baristas are knowledgeable and quick with orders. It’s a good spot to work or relax.
We live in Tulare, CA and I've been here like 7 times because it's worth stopping by when on my road trips! Love their ideas of coffee flavors and styles, the vibe is very natural and welcoming and I love the plants that add a surreal yet stylish look to the ambient. Thank you for the amazing coffee experices and can't wait for more !
Commissary Coffee in Burbank is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a strong, bold cup of coffee to kickstart your day, seriously, their brews will wake you right up. But it’s not just about the caffeine; the vibe here is super chill and creative. It’s also a great place to park your laptop and get work done. The space has a modern, minimal look with plenty of natural light and good energy. Whether you’re rushing in for a quick pick-me-up or planning to stay awhile and work, this place totally delivers. Cool staff, good music, and great coffee.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I am an avid and dedicated coffee drinker. I truly believe having bad coffee is bad for the soul and secondly I don’t understand how some people hate or don’t drink coffee, finally always tip the people who make your coffee. This is a true skill that needs to be appreciated and respected. Anyway the Commissary is a no frills coffee shop in Burbank. The seating reminds me of a cafeteria functionality over appearance. Now the staff is very friendly and ordering was simple. I went with a black coffee. I am a simple man and enjoy the true taste of my Java. I loved the flavor and the strength of the coffee. I went with the Brisket burrito which was enjoyable. It came with chips and salsa. The burrito and salsa both had a great flavor. I just wish the salsa had some heat. My wife went with the protein plate. Her dish looked great but lacked in flavor, some finishing salt would have really helped. Thank you Commissary for the friendly service.
I got the matcha, an americano, and the California Toast and BOTH were delicious! The vibes inside the cafe we’re great too - I came to work and I spent a little time inside in the AC and then went outside to sit on the patio. Very crowded during 12-3 ish so try to avoid that time or be prepared to park further away!
If go into the store and look at the espresso machine and grinder, can see how much coffee level it is. You don't need to know if it's too professional, but it's a way to find a good cafe without failing when you miss delicious coffee. That's why I saying we don’t fail if we go to a cafe run by the roasters. It was a coffee made by a very skilled barista, and it was a shot extracted under moderate pressure without channeling without tampinging strongly, so it tasted very good, and it was a barista that was very good latte art skill. It's a Slayer machine that I always want to have. The interior was stylish, somehow Hip, the music was very appropriate, and the more I started a refreshing day on Sunday morning.
Overall I would call this the perfect coffee place. Coffee is perfect, pastry was superb. Yay to their courage to let stuff caramelize properly. Ambience is nice inside, parking is limited. I would give this place five stars if I was a millionaire. Since i am not, I find the place too expensive for what it is. Don't be not a millionaire!
Great b-fast burrito, but with a parking lot the size of a postage stamp you're forced to park on the street, where the residents had the city put up 'no parking' signs during business hours. So, you're side dish is a $43 ticket, which is considerably less palatable. I don't know about you but no burrito I've ever eaten is worth $55. Edit: Just gave this place another star back...Their burrito just hit the spot in my empty cold heart. Edit 2: Burrito, why do I love you so?
The morning bun was my highlight, it was so good! The indoor seating isnt very spacious and it gets quite packed during peak hours. Coffee is fairly good. There's a tiny parking lot on the same land as the shop, or there's a slightly bigger lot nearby. If all else fails, there's a neighborhood street you can park on
I hardly ever write reviews and I seldom leave my house/eat out these days (WFH life) but the Angeleno Burrito was the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, hands down. I don’t live in the neighborhood and would journey here specifically just for that. Their iced lattes are okay, nothing special. But their food is 🤌🏻 And the service/vibe is very pleasant. Keep in mind— parking is a huge headache, plan extra time for that.
Went there about two weeks ago to meet up with an old friend. Nice high ceilings with great light, good coffee, and amazing looking (killer!) baked goods. I wished for a little more space indoors-- it was pretty crowded, and the seating was really packed in. There is a lovely area for outdoor seating that was also taken at the time. For as crowded as it was, I was surprised that it wasn't louder in there. I could carry on a conversation without struggling to hear my friend. I ordered a julep and an espresso, both well done. Decent flavor in the mixed drink, and flavor in the espresso was as expected. Courteous service in a moderate amount of time. Would go back when in L.A.
Great coffee and great vibe, so long as you don't mind snarky comments from the vegan server when ordering the delicious brisket burrito!
Most likely one of the better coffee spots in Hollywood ~ Coffee Commissary has a welcoming counter style bar in a studio smack in the center of a whole sleu of other studios on Sunset Blvd 🌅 They source all their coffees by trying every seasonal offering from the best micro roasters they can find and this is one location of a few. Prices are very manageable and thematic inspirations from film sketch culture breathes life into wall designs, backed by minimalistic, waving paint stripes, fluorescent lighting, a bathroom full of fun Hollywood history infographics, and cool colors, plus an outdoor seating arrangement that is very inviting. If you are walking Hollywood BLVD and are looking for quality coffee and a great spot to recharge, this should be your go to!
Was looking forward to trying this place out. It has plenty of parking around back and it was easy to access. Ordered an iced oat milk latte and it was pretty good. Super balanced and milky enough. The place was clean, organized and well maintained overall. Unfortunately the service isn't that good and the music inside is way too loud. Chose this place to meet with a supplier and we could barely talk. Outside seating area feels better but it was full during our visit. If you just want to grab a coffee and work, it is a great option. If you're meeting other people or using this place for a professional scenario, don't. Guys, please train your staff a bit better on service. I'm tired of visiting good coffee places where baristas have an attitude.
Scored a parking spot in the back and made it before closing time with my friend to get hot Irish cream coffee. They also had at patty’s day cookies so I had to snag it. Indoor seating was allowed and it was rainy outside so we sat diagonally from each other. Coffee was good, a tad too sweet for me. The music was very loud and with the mask on, I had to shout to talk to my friend. All pandemic issues I’m sure. I love all the coffee commissaries around town - I used to frequent the one in Weho and Culver City a lot so I’m sure I’ll be back again. Close to chil filet and Wiener schnitzel and Whole Foods and all the studios.
Happen to be in the area and I had the hankering for an iced coffee since it was a really hot day. I am always up for trying new coffee shops so stopped by. I got the Rose latte and I didn't know how sweet it would be so I just said light on the sweetener but I think I should've just left it the way it is because it could've used a bit more taste but that was all me. Next time I want to try the toasted hazelnut latte which sounded delicious and I should've gotten but I always gravitate for rose or lavender lattes. The place seemed like a good place to do work since everyone was on their laptops and they even have a patio to chill so I'd definitely recommend coming here
Coffee was pretty good, a little on the sweet side for our group, but still well made. I do wish they had more offerings, but still decent selection. It’s a fun and funky environment— not the most comfortable, though, because it was almost as cold inside as it was outside. Still, a nice little place and look forward to trying other drinks.
Very hipster coffee shop ! Really bustlin with folks . A lot of them ordering breakfast and it looked good . We just wanted coffee so that’s all we tried . Got a flat white and a Cubano ! The Cubano was good ! Flat white wasn’t too bad just not strong enough ! But we combined them both after sipping on it and it was nice 😊 plenty of seating inside and outside as well !
My friend loves this place but I found the staff terse and uninviting, the atmosphere cold and steryl, the menu was limited, and the tuna sandwhich while not bad, nothing special. If necessary I'd go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
So the coffee is pretty good, but this place is pretentious. I ordered a short latte and they insisted on telling me that is actually a cappuccino, which of course it is not, instead of just making my drink. PS: you guys did not invent microfoam. The Italians have been doing it this way for over a century. It does not need to be reinvented.
Angeleno burrito is amazing and the coffee is good, but haven't had a good interaction with staff the few times I've gone. Very much "I'm just working here until I get my big break vibes".
If this place didn’t have quality food and coffee i would probably never come back here. Some of the management staff like a dark hair short tan man is not friendly and just kind of stuck up for whatever reason. Food again so good here and the coffee is top level. Some of the staff is nice but i realized yesterday that i prefer the staff at Cafecito Blvd in Burbank more
-Kind of expensive.. -The most horrid music in the world is played here, rap, etc. full of cuss words and everything else. It sounds like music a 3 year old would write. If it's not that, it's blazing ,screeching rock-- no midground. -The food menu is good but strange, with almost no vegetables in sight. -There are hard steel and wood chairs to sit on. -Parking is abysmal. Don't park on the far north side of Ontario street. You'll get a ticket. -- The dark haired short man as others put it, is just that way. Always unhappy. It's not personal
I hear great things about the coffee but my experience there didn't work out. I stood in line for 15 minutes behind only 3 people and they never called up another person to take any orders. Nothing was moving and I couldn't for the life of me fathom what was going on. I wasn't in a terrible hurry, but it seemed like they don't have their system together. There were also a bunch of people waiting for orders... So perhaps this was just a moment, but I left before ordering.
The food was good, I'm vegan and was able to find a few options and was very fresh. Not blown away but OK. Very busy for lunch. My rating might not be fair until I go back to try the coffee because that's a very impressive espresso machine and totally have the potential of 2 more stars!
Great atmosphere, good food; I love the outdoor seating. One issue is that they've been running the music kind of loud inside so it's hard to work with headphones or carry on much of a conversation. I get that we're going for hipster vibes or whatever, but c'mon (the other locations have this dialed in). I've also found the temperature of the brewed coffee and lattes to be inconsistent, sometimes needing to ask them to brew new coffee or remake the latte, which is annoying and awkward. Let's get the basics done consistently well.
I live nearby and sometimes I ordered breakfast for the drive to work. When I worked from home, I would ordered the brisket tacos. They brisket could use some flavor. Also they could use some wetness. The tacos are typically dry and the salsa isn't flavorful either. Most recent I ordered one of their breakfast burritos. Keep water of a drink on hand. About 85% dry potatoes that chokes you and the other 15% are the main ingredients. Oh I also ordered their fried chicken. Not very tasty either. I won't be getting their food anymore. Maybe the coffee and pastries sometimes.
I had not had coffee this bad for a long time. Sort of what you get in Mc Donald's, only at three times the price. The environment was okay and the staff cordial, hence the two stars. However the coffee was simply horrendous.
I got the fried chicken sandwich and the truffle tater tots, and the chicken sandwich was inedible. It seems like it is reformed/reconstituted instead of fresh. It wasn’t dry, it was just very hard which I’ve never experienced before and made me gag. The tater tots were good. Unfortunately the chicken sandwich went in the trash and was a waste of $15
Good coffee, food and atmosphere. But for the love of God why does the barista have such an attitude? I’ve had three separate times when I ask something along the lines of is this drink for xyz? Or hey do you have a vanilla latte in the queue? Mind you after waiting an actual 20 mins for the drink and seeing others who were behind me start to get their drinks. And the amount of put out this brunette girl gets is insane. I go here maybe once a month and got the attitude 3 separate times from the same girl.
Very pricey for what you get. I got the pork belly burrito. It was just an average breakfast burrito with pork belly in it. Very greasy. It tasted bland because there was no sauce of any kind. They also have a few other Mexican options but don't carry hot sauce of any kind in the store. They offered to give me a little side container of home made salsa. The portion was so small i used it all a 1/4 the way through my burrito. They wanted to charge me for more. No drip coffee options just a $5 cold brew that tastes like cold drip coffee. It seemed like a popular spot but I think it's just because there is not much around it. They need to step up their food game for sure.
The food here is pretty good but the service is abysmal. I've been here multiple times and it's always the same scene: one poor worker busting their butt while the two-three others converse amongst each other taking their dear sweet time with the orders. Last time I was there, the decaf dirty chai I ordered wasn't decaf so I asked it to be made correctly. The two girls argued with me that Chai has caffeine even after I (and their own co-worker) had already clarified that the espresso shot was to be decaf. Instead of apologizing or even a 'my bad' they just look disgusted before making it correctly and resuming their private conversation. Very unprofessional and I feel bad for the one guy who had to deal with them all day.
If you’re a Matcha drinker do not waste your time or money here. For the same price you can go to Alfred Coffee and get the real thing. Here they make a sweet syrup with something that maybe used to be matcha? Its in a clear glass pour bottle and fully airated. It’s color is the most dirty brown green, and not even close to the color any grade of descent matcha is. When I realized my order was sweetened and said I would like an unsweetened matcha late I was met with the rudest comments, “most places make it with sugar so you should ask” being the nicest one. They clearly do not stock actual Matcha because he couldn’t make it for me unsweetened. Thankfully the cashier refunded me. 2nd time I’ve gone in there and an employee has been very very rude to me. I won’t be going in again, sad, used to really love this place.
44 mins for a latte is crazy. If the wait is that long you tell your customers before they purchase and wait a ridiculous amount of time to pull a double shot. Also if they you want to own a coffee shop hire more than one barista. Absolutely one of the worst coffee management I've ever seen. When Starbucks has better turn arounds than your coffeeshop you know you messed up big. Owner of Commissary you should try the experience you offer your customers and see if you enjoy a kick in the nuts after tipping.
Slowest freaking baristas ever. Someone offer them a strong coffee because I waited 19 min for my to-go matcha.
It’s cute, the food and coffee were excellent but the service was rude. They called out avocado toast, no name and my friends came out right after mine, they called her name so I took both plates. The server came to my table a minute later and rudely told me I should have checked the ticket because that wasn’t my plate. The other guy got my avocado toast a minute later and I apologized but he was still telling me me I need to check if it’s my order next time, “it could have been a disaster.” Food was good unfortunately I was so put off I ate fast and left. I was going to get a pastry to go but didn’t was to give them more of my time and money. I will never go back. They should have been nicer to a paying customer.
