Fosters Freeze is a retro ice cream and burger joint known for its soft serve ice cream, especially the chocolate-dipped cones and half-chocolate, half-vanilla swirl. Many appreciate the nostalgic feeling and fast service. Some find the burgers and prices less appealing compared to other options.

Love the spicy chicken burger. It's really great quality. Banana split is delicious too. Love the vintage look makes you feel like in a movie.
This place is great. My kids love the grilled cheese and a chocolate dipped cone of course. They are always hard at work. Don't forget it's always nice to leave a tip. 🙃
Great new managment!! We live nearby and this place is a great perk! My wife and I love coming for a cone and being surrounded in the smell of the delicious cooking of burgers and fries.
Just like I remembered when my mom would take me to Foster's Freeze as a kid. Ordered a large dipped cone. Everything tasted the same after all these years....and especially good on a 100F degree day.
This place is amazing !!! The food is always cooked to order and when they give you the food it's always hot. I would recommend 10/10 everytime and twisters for there ice creams or cone are the best !!
I have been going here for almost 40 years now and I have not had a single bad experience. The lady who made my ice cream cone had gloves on and that was a great feeling knowing she cares about her customers health...😀
Very friendly people. The breaded chicken strips were actually really good here! Also the assist serve ice cream is great. Give these guys a try.
Best ice cream in town. We love all the flavors of twisters, especially the oreo cookie. Also a huge fan of the big boss burger.
I grew up with this brand in the Westside. So happy a location is still open here in Burbank - all of my soft serve cravings are easily fulfilled.
The location of food & deserts has not changed over 50 years. I know friends who had managed this Fosters Freeze back in the 60's. It has been a main stay in Burbank after all these years. It's a little bit of Americana & nostalgia that Burbank has left. Great that it has been able to endure & provide great services to their customers.
Best soft serve ice cream 🍦 cones. Chocolate 👍🏾 When I was a kid they were everywhere it seems and we always went for cones, sundaes, shakes and of course a freeze 🥶 Used to be very inexpensive but prices have regrettably risen more than I'd like but still love it and great service.
Love taking my grand daughter to FF for their Snickers Twister! We are frequent flyers at Foster Freeze...best soft serve ice cream mix in SoCal!
Great little place for a sundae or a burger in Burbank. Reminds me of a place I used to go with my parents. Outdoor seating is perfect to sit down for some ice cream with friends.
WOW 😳 what an ULTRAMAZING experience tried the Farm Burger that had the juiciest patty lettuce cucumbers tomatoes and gooey cheese and the softest bread with side of rance dressing that I dipped my burger in that gave the overall delicious experience. Ultra Special Shoutouts to back of house front of house the Management and Owners for keeping my childhood experience through modern era and welcoming me with open hearts and arms. See you all soon
Some of the best burgers in all America. So simple. Yet so tasty. The Double Decker is my go too. Tastes like the heavenly nectar that was hidden by the gods before our creation. I literally just ate one before writting this.
I’ve eaten in other Fosters freeze and this location is one of the best ones. The chicken sandwich is always a go to and it’s absolutely delicious. The service was fast and Amir was nice. Chocolate covered strawberry blizzard was sooooo good! Will always come back to this place.
I was driving by and saw this place and made a quick stop. Although it has a full menu, i was looking for a dessert as i had already eaten. I chose the drive thru as I was rushed on time to get to my appt. The lady at the window courteous. I asked about the TWISTER. She told me the different flavors it comes in. I decided on the REESES TWISTER. Fyi its $1 dollar extra if not paying cash (thanks to the banks). To say it was delicious would be an understatement. There were about 4 cars ahead of me, yet the time it took to get my order was about 5 minutes. Definitely stopping here again..... Update 7/19/2022: stopped in today as the inclement weather called for something cold. Once again quick and accurate service and great tasting product. We had the strawberry sunday (yum), strawberry cheesecake Twister (also yum), and the Reeses Cup Twister (my fave, YUMMMY!!)
The food is really good! And the employees are super nice. I've been many times, and they haven't messed up my order yet! Keep up the great work!
Okay I don’t usually leave reviews but I had to. They are soooo nice the Armenian lady I think she is the owner so sweet so as everybody who works there they all are so welcoming I just love going this place you always feel appreciated definitely not the vibe you get in other fast food places these days. Great food great costumer service.
Love this place. I use this place as reward when I'm trying to get my son to do something he doesn't want to do. They have great burgers and ice cream. Be prepared to wait but totally worth it.
Its been almost 10yrs since I last visited Fosters Freeze and nothing much has changed. Their burgers still have their original taste with tasty fries 🍟. And their their milk shakes are so deliciously thick and creamy and made with authentic fruits and not syrups which are used by most competitors. The food was great.
Took the kiddos to get some ice cream never disappoints but I can't get a little pricey from time to time
First time here, won't be my last. I'd never been to. Foster's Freeze, always went to Baskin Robbins or the like, but today the wife was feeling like trying something different, so FF it was! Staff was really nice, helped me find the flavors and let me know what was out. Once I put the order in, took a few minutes and we were on our way. Great place, location, ample parking, and drive up service, seriously great. 10/10, would buy again. Gotta try everything on the menu!!
Tonight we ordered a hamburger and fries for dinner. Both of our meals were quite good. A much better burger and value than any fast food chain restaurant.
Great fast food, he loves the cheese burgers and I think they have the best fries! They have a great selection of flavors for their shakes, sundaes, cones, etc... They just added 2 outdoor heat lamps, which is nice since they only have outdoor seating. But, we've never ordered anything we didnt like or that we ever thought of sending back. Nice people too.
Coming here since a kid and still enjoy it.
Great selection of ice cream and treats! It's definitely more expensive recently. Prices have gone up, but still, good treats! 👍
they make real flame grilled burger made by hand it's more like California Culver's burger much better than burger king i wish burger king could make real flame grilled burger like Fosters old fashioned burger
The chocolate-vanilla swirl was exactly what I needed. Also, the person taking my order was so nice (wish I would’ve asked his name). Really helped cheer me up after a bad day. You never know the impact you’ll have on someone, so I’m glad this one was so positive!
Great service and food, had lunch. Then finished it off with a banana split. 😎
It was great to stop by at Fosters..it brought back alot of good childhood memories... fast service like always.
I'll make this quick and simple as we all have no time for an autobiographical review 🤘 Parking at the back ✅ Drive thru ✅ Walk thru ✅ No dine in ❌ - there was never one even before covid as this just a small burger joint. Outdoor seating ✅ There's a tip jar outside their window. Pls tip. Don't be a savage 🤣 Amazing food! They can be busy but it's worth the wait! ✅ Enjoy! 😎
Love Fosters Freeze! Iconic ice cream place with so many choices! Great alternative to Dairy Queen!
Saw this on an episode of Buzzfeed’s Worth It YouTube show and had to try it. For $1.50 (usually $1 but I got 2 flavors under the chocolate dip) you can’t beat it! A warm Burbank evening definitely ended with the best treat. I would bring my kids here every night if I had any. It also has a drive through which is pretty unique for an ice cream shop.
This will be the second time I've been to Foster's Freeze. We love the nostalgic feeling of this place. They have outdoor seating in front which is very great to use because eating a Chocolate Dipped cone is not advisable when driving or in your car! I never had one so I learned my lesson after the first time around. The ice cream underneath will melt and come out of the bottom from all around the cone. By the way, their cake cones and waffle cone are top notch delicious. They will survive a medium. That's another thing. In my pictures are medium sized cones! What the heck is a large?! I couldn't imagine! Great pricing to portion sizes and affordable for a family of six kids! We love Foster's Freeze!
Fosters freeze is Rad! Love this retro vibe ice cream and burger joint. The ice-cream is my fav! Especially the banana split. My comfort food! To celebrate a banana split. If i'm sad a banana split and just because a banana split. There's only a few fosters left and I hope they keep going! Its like a blast from the past!
I have not been to a Frosty freeze in years I've always loved their chocolate dipped ice cream cones it is a real delite in treat on the super bowl Sunday to get one of my favorite ice creams of all time
Favorite place for soft serve ice cream, and a large cone is 3.45. great deal!
Some of the best burgers in Cali! We always come here when we want a damn good original burger.. and it always hits the spot! Definitely check it out. All the ice cream is good too 😋
This place is awesome they have a wide variety of sweet's and treats and you'll feel like a kid in a candy store. My personal favorite is the peanut butter shake and the Snickers blizzard, I want it all!!
Double Decker burger is great and huge!! Fries could be better.
Born and raised SoCal always heard about foster freeze on the same sentence as In n Out as a SoCal landmark. Never actually been as Everytime I've tried it's either closed, not taking cards, shut down ( looking at you Glendale). Burgers are average similar tasting to any diner burger. Beef was underwhelming not much flavor seasoning faintly tasted. Lettuce tomato onion and foster sauce (thousand islands by the taste of it) were the predominant flavors. Fries were crinkle cut and larger than usual. The good ones were crispy and fluffy on the inside a quarter of the fries were limp and raw and hard inside. The star of the show was the soft serve ice cream. Honestly it was really good. Most companies use similar mixes for their soft serve and If you been around the rodeo you can taste it. Icecream was a little sweet, the perfect texture served inside a cake cone. Classic fare but the vanilla flavor was cleaner the milk taste was fresher. I'd stop buy just for the icecream if I was nearby.
My favorite place for Strawberry shakes and French fries! The fries are crinkle cut and served hot with seasoned salt. They have a drive thru, but service can take a while because they make everything fresh.
I'm a big fan of this particular Foster's Freeze, but mostly for nostalgic reasons. Their food tends to land on the middling portion of the tasty scale, but their ice cream offerings have always been top notch. A little expensive honestly, but it's just an incredibly homey location and I always enjoy coming back here.
I love Foster's Freeze soft serve and milkshakes. It's not their fault really but prices have gone up a lot over the past few years, so it's harder to recommend now. I hope they stick around though, since I crave it at least once a month. A California classic!
It's not just the Oreo twister that's to love, the burger boss is DELICIOUS. No disrespect to this place but the food is better than you'd expect and every Friday night, they have a car show in the parking lot. Definitely worth the visit.
This place would rate a 5 if the service was a little friendlier. The people are nice enough but they don’t make that “customer connection”. Food reminds me of when I was a kid. I love fried burritos and the ice cream treats are sweet, cold and mouth-watering. Check out my picture of the recent menu. (Yes, need some spell checks on a couple words, but you know what they mean).
We stopped in late night for an unplanned sweet snack and it really hit the spot. They have drive-through or walk up and there is a large free parking lot attached in the back and on the side so parking is really easy and close. Everything that we ordered was ready within 10 minutes and the staff was also really polite. Pricing is really fair so it would be a good option for large families or if you are on a budget. I did not try any of their hot food items aside from the french fries so cannot speak to their burgers or dogs, but can for their ice cream and fries. This place is more of a to go spot as they don’t really have an indoor dining area, but they do have plenty of outdoor tables. For this visit, we ordered some fries which are crinkle cut and very similar to Shake Shack. Not the best that I’ve had but far from the worst. We also got some large chocolate dipped ice cream cones and they two were very good. I wish they would have more ice cream flavors like caramel or something like that and I also wish they would have confetti or white chocolate or other dip flavors but still it was really nice, especially for an unplanned last-minute treat stop. We also ordered a caramel shake, and it was extra sweet and really satisfied my craving. I would recommend if you are in the area, especially for those late night cravings.
Good food as usual. Not the same as it used to be when it comes to employees. Need quality staff. No restroom to use. Only for employees. Prices are too high for one simple burger.
This place was pretty good.i got a hamburger, fries and a milkshake and they charged 16 bucks. That's way too much and the food was just fine. It was good, but not 16 dollars good.
Friendly staff. I just had the chicken tenders, that were actually decent, and a chocolate shake, good flavor, but could be much thicker. I would go back!🙂🤙🏼
Have had the crispy chicken sandwich there 3 times over last year and half, one was ok nothing to write home about. Another time it was dry and over cooked. Last time was awesome perfectly cooked.
Went to the Burbank location. Got a vanilla cone, dipped in chocolate (hard-shell). The vanilla was more like French-vanilla, and the consistency of the ice cream was like the frosties at Wendy’s. The chocolate dip didn’t have much flavor.
Good burgers fries & ice cream. There's sometimes a bit of a wait. They charge an extra $1 for all card transactions. I'm not sure what that's about. They also had a bodyguard sitting outside after 9:30pm. Rather strange for a well lit street in a nice neighborhood
I got the ice cream with the cookie dough mix. Ice Cream was tasty, but the mix felt low quality.
Happy to find a Foster Freeze. Shocked that 3 hamburgers, fries, and an ice cream was over $50! Food was yummy, service in drive thru was good, took a little long, but worth the wait.
Price to quality ratio isn’t there. Too expensive for what you get. For the same price there’s many other nearby options that are better. The soft serve is great! Only thing I’d recommend. For $22 I got basic cheeseburger, large Peach shake, and a soft serve cone. $8 for a burger in the in and out style. It taste is good. But nothing special. The peach shake was okay. But that was the thinnest shake I ever had. It sucks when a shake is too thick to drink, but this is the other extreme where it was so thin it could have just been flavored milk. The soft serve cone was great! Unique taste and unique shape. It was excellent. Best soft serve I’ve had.
This location is okay. It definitely lacks in customer service. The food is good and the ice cream is good too. The prices are definitely a little high. I wish they had specials ($1 grilled cheese) like the Glendale location had. I would like to point out, don't expect the workers to elaborate on their menu because they won't even if you ask. For example, I went here and wanted a sundae but the menu doesn't list what flavors of sundaes they have so I asked the guy at the window what sundae flavors they have and he said "they have a lot just say one". Like what the heck is that supposed to mean, if I knew what one I wanted I wouldnt have asked. So I just went with the traditional (hot fudge) because I didn't have time to play his guessing game!
Some of the nastiest yet salty food I’ve ever eaten. Even the fries are only decent. Their ice cream is good though. Everything is over priced
This has a small drive through, and the woman came to our window asking for our order before we'd even been able to drive our car up to see the menu. The ice cream was good, but way over priced for tiny cups and the price upcharge for additional flavors/mix-ins was a bit ridiculous. The ice cream flavor was good, but I wouldn't recommend this to someone wanting just a good ice cream dessert if they're looking for any amount of bang for their buck. It was decent for us since we were in a bind, the area was unfamiliar, and things in this city generally are more expensive than where we are from. Overall, it was satisfactory but I probably won't go there again.
Ice cream shop with burgers huh? I was going to get a burger but I got fish and chips. The lady at the counter was friendly, the service was fast. The portion was pretty small an appetizer size rather than a complete meal. Fries and fish were perfectly crispy. Tasted mediocre and not memorable. Ranch sauce they use is very sour and just doesn't taste good. Tartar was bland. Overall I didn't enjoy the flavor just fulfilled my stomach. I am assuming the burger situation is similar. The seatings are located right next to the busy road. There is no music playing or anything. So the ambience is no good here.
Last few visits have been disappointing. Always the same cashier complaining about her job and blaming staff for not having orders ready or spoken of? Whether you submit an order online or in the drive thru seem to be a REALLY big lack in communication within the staff here. This was brought to my attention from that cashier herself. Didn't begin online order until I present it at the window after it was set to pick up at that specified time. Business seem like its suffering because of this, I've noticed the last few times I've been there. Lacking guidance for employees to properly communicate with one another and customer service avenue is down as well. Cooks are doing great with the food though. The food has been a good experience but the service is sour as can be. Overall bittersweet experience.
It pains me to write this. I have been a huge Fosters fan for the last 45 years. Fosters has the best soft ice cream base in the world--so clean and fresh in its vanilla. I have been a customer of the Burbank store for over 30 years (but less so in past years as I moved away). Anyway, for nostalgia and to support local companies during COVID, I recently drove my family back to Burbank for a round of Twisters. We were so excited. When I have gotten Twisters in the past, the recipe has been simple: ice cream and the mix-in. This week, the local store made the Twister with milk added and several spoons of a THICKENER. The resulting color (now yellow from the thickener) and taste (no longer the clean vanilla Fosters is famous for) was a huge disappointment. This was not the same (and in fact, not really good). I know stores are struggling, and I feel for them. The prices at the Burbank store have also gone through the roof (to laughable levels really), and they now charge $1 to use a credit card (which seems excessive). But I was willing to pay to support a local business in times of trouble. But a business cannot compromise their quality and product like this. So sad, as it was a part of my childhood.
$16.99 gets you a double decker combo - low quality meat, at least 3 times I hurt my teeth because there were pieces of bone or god knows what in the meat, lettuce or some ingredient is probably old has an unpleasant smell/taste to it. 50 cents extra for each sauce (ranch etc) and it’s small only about 2 oz. workers are not very polite either. Either bring your prices down or your quality / service up.
I grew up at this spot getting the PBJ twister and the burgers. But today I got some food and the fries amount was absolutely ridiculous, easily under 15 fries in this tiny kid sized fries bag. I remember a time where I couldn’t finish the fries because they put so much. I shouldn’t finish the fries before I finish the burger. I hope the management chooses customer satisfaction over minuscule amounts of profit. I just wish I took a photo of the depressing amount of fries before I finished it in under 5 minutes. DISAPPOINTMENT!
For two burgers and two medium root beer floats it was $42... I could have gone some place nice and had something that tasted better. And with better service, the woman at the counter was nice but the cook who for some reason was at the service counter was rude and abrupt. Tables were dirty and the food was subpar.
It's NOT $2.70 for a medium cone. We ordered two medium cones, twist with sprinkles. It came out to around $9. Are sprinkles really an extra $4? The ice cream itself is amazing, probably one of the best I've had, but these hidden charges and prices make people feel cheated :(
Stopped by this place two summers ago and had a better experience then. My most recent visit the burger patties were not seasoned and the price for the burger was outrageous. 23$ for my meal! The shake was equally as disappointing and had no flavor or sweetness to it. Fries were also not seasoned properly and lacked salt. Ive been to other family burger joints closer to the city that don’t even inflate their prices this much. two stars for nostalgia.
Came by to try it out after hearing about its “classic” status. Ice cream products are tasty. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, etc. are simply way too expensive for the quality. Sadly, I don’t see myself coming back considering the various other options that provide the same product for better prices.
Awful food in general. Just bought 2 chili cheese dogs and they burnt the dogs till they were crunchy... Crunchy, so they literally didn't pay attention to my food and burned them, THEN, they covered them in chili and served it to me anyway. Thanks a lot, I won't be eating here again. This is probably the 3rd time they've served me shite food.
Very badd experience at this fosters today they said they close at 10 o'clock pm it is 9:30pm we bought Ice cream for the grand kids we are sitting at the tables and chairs right outside enjoying our ice cream and at 9:30pm they ask us to leave because they need to close at 10pm how rude is that to tell your customers that they need to leave even though they have not finished eating what they purchased just a bunch of BS. I guess we'll have to find another fosters or somewhere else to go next time maybe the fosters off a Fletcher will appreciate our business more
turned away two people before close at 9:50
For the price the customer service is horrible. There's this one lady she has a bad attitude is just horrible. What's worst is that i think she's the owner. She should just stay in the back and let someone else handle the front. The food is alright. Sonic is way better! Down to the onion rings. The only way I would go back is if there's nothing else around and I'm craving something they sell. Even with that if that lady is doing the front. I'm not dealing with her.
I have been here about 40 times and heard a first today. I had major throat surgery 5 years ago have to have my French fries extra crispy. I tried to tell the lady and she stated that they couldn't burn the fries which is BS. She also stated she was the owner and had been for 12 years.????? She lost a long time big spending customer. I have literally been there more times then I care to admit and NEVER once had seen her. Rest assured she will not see me again either.
First and last time I will eat here. The burger was nasty and dry on stale buns. Shake was not bad but still mediocre at best. I had instant stomach upset and diarrhea for 2 days after eating here. If you want to lose weight, burger and a shake here will help. Being skinny as hell already, plus the price of good toilet paper being what it is these days, I can not afford it.
Foster Freeze. 16 bucks with tax for a Cheeseburger Combo. I mean seriously from Fosters. Of coarse I didn't pay it with In N Out down the street. We had 2 single scoop Strawberry Sundaes that were good at 5 bucks each with Tax. Then people driving by at 60 MPH compromises your Safety as well. We all know who those people are
All I wanted was a milkshake but they said I had to pay an extra $1 to use a card. I thought only those scummy gas stations still did that. Price here are already pretty high.
Normally I love this place, but today I had the misfortune of meeting the owner. It's memorial day, I'm beached out, dishaevalled, but she must have thought I was a homeless guy or just didn't like me, any way, after getting lots of distrusful looks from her, my burger comes out with some coldish meat patties and a burger not to order (accidentally pre cooked and set aside?). Poor food, and terrible managment, after I spent 13 bucks and tipped the guy behind the counter! Sad because I was a fairly regular customer, I liked the food and experience up till today.
I went there today at 10:46am, and I asked if they were open. There was an old lady waving at me and asking her if you're open she just kept waving at me. That was rude. She didn't even get up or say sorry, weren't open yet. Younger lady pasd by she just looked at me never acknowledge until I told her hi are you open she side no. I told her ok what time are you open she kept telling me were not open. I told her what time are you open and again she said we're not open. The third time, I told her what time you are open. She looked at me in an angry face she said 11:15 am. So they didn't want my business. I went to in and out and bought my coworkers' food. Never going to your business ever again
Nope, never again! I just paid $7 for chili cheese fries that had store-bought fries and some disgusting tasting chili on top. I asked the woman for onions, but couldn’t even get that. I should’ve drove down the street to Del taco and purchased their deluxe chili fries for half the cost with better quality
Not good burger. I ordered a 'double decker" they didn't add the simple slice of provolone cheese. The burger was extremely sloppy; it was a horrible experience eating this so-called burger. everything was bland and didn't have any taste, not even the fries. They even try to save pennies by filling the drink cup with ice, so they give you little bit of soda. $20.11 is what I spent here for a meal, the food was gross. I'm embarrassed spending $20 for a disgusting meal.
