It’s always lovely come back. I bring my girlfriend this time and we love a nice brunch together. Food is always well done and staff is warm and able to speak not only English but Spanish and French. Hope to come back soon with the family!
Wonderful place! We had a lovely evening with friends over a dinner of French cuisine. Already dreaming of coming back. Service was cheerful and engaging, yet never overbearing – such a rare balance in the U.S. Highly recommended!
Batifol’s weekend brunch buffet is a culinary journey that transports you straight to the heart of Paris. The ambiance exudes classic French charm, making it an ideal spot for both leisurely brunches and special occasions. The buffet offers a delightful array of dishes that cater to both savory and sweet palates. From perfectly scrambled eggs and smoked salmon to an assortment of French pastries and fresh fruit, every item is crafted with attention to detail and authenticity. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience with their warm hospitality. Whether you’re a fan of traditional French cuisine or exploring it for the first time, Batifol’s brunch buffet is a must-visit.
We had our wedding at Batifol, with ceremony next door at the bakery. It was literally the most amazing experience. The Batifol team was extremely responsive, organized, and executed everything perfectly. The food was amazing - all of our guests said their Salmon and steak were cooked perfectly! And they allowed dietary changes for guests with all different kinds of restrictions (vegan, gluten free allergies). 100% recommend any day of the week. I also love their brunch and dinner menus. And If you want to have an intimate event, their event coordinators are out of this world!!! Thank you all for making out day so perfect!
An upscaled French restaurant with very healthy food options. They also do a brunch buffet which has wide range of foods as well. Would definitely recommend someone looking to get something healthy to which you wont feel uneasy after.
**OMG, JUST GO ALREADY!!!** (That’s me aggressively pushing you out the door toward Batifol.) Let me tell you about our *maiden voyage* to this magical land of carbs, cheese, and chaotic-good energy. First of all, the vibes? European elegance but with the warmth of a place that absolutely knows how to party with a butter knife. The service? Impeccable. The food? A buffet table so majestic it should’ve had its own theme song. (Cue "Eye of the Tiger" but for scrambled eggs.) Now, let’s talk about Maximum (yes, that’s our waiter’s name—it should be, because his energy was MAXIMUM LEVEL). This man single-handedly turned our 10 AM reservation into a brunch-time extravaganza. 10/10, would let him hype me up again. PRO TIP: MAKE. A. RESERVATION. Don’t be like the grumpy dude ahead of us who rolled up like he’d just been betrayed by a croissant. ‘Sir, this is a Batifol, not a DMV’. The buffet? Ohhhh, the buffet. Imagine a food carnival where every stall is winning. Hot dishes? Hot. Cold dishes? Artfully chilled. My wife (aka Wifee) nearly fainted over the meat and cheese board—a love story for the ages. Bottom line: Batifol has something for everyone (yes, even your picky uncle who “doesn’t do brunch”). We’ll 100% be back—possibly with a parade to celebrate our next visit. See you there! 🥂
Spectacular, 5/5!!!! The warm, inviting atmosphere draws you in for an intimate meal. The staff are friendly, caring and outgoing. Props to the chef as the food was delicious, and tasted so fresh. The drinks are outstanding. Pierre the bartender was so amazing that even after we left and we’re halfway home, I had to walk back to complement him to the head of the restaurant. It’s incredible when you have service and someone that cares so much about your experience, that they go out of their way to make sure you are having the best moment of your day with them. That’s Pierre. This restaurant delivers on so many levels, where so many others fall short. I highly recommend this restaurant!!! Parking is available along the street. The T is 2 blocks away for easy access.
If you are looking for an authentic French restaurant in Boston, Batifol is the right place for you! As a French person, I have rarely been so satisfied by a restaurant, let alone a French restaurant in the US. The food was simply delicious and came in generous portions, and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. This is one of the best restaurants I have tried in Boston and will certainly be back soon!
Kendall’s hidden 5 Star Bar. (This review is for the bar, not the restaurant) A long elegant marble bar facing Third St, with quiet ambient music, attentive service, and high quality craft cocktails. Bass carpaccio makes a stellar accompaniment to martinis here.
Such a cute French Cafe with delicious food! Everything we ordered was superb! The cocktails were not great, though.
Excellent food! Loved the wild mushroom risotto, haven’t had better risotto. The sauce for Coq Au Vin was to delicious and the chicken was cooked to perfection. If I had to nit-pick, the profiterole pastry and the ice cream were great, but the chocolate sauce felt like it came straight out of a Hershey’s bottle
Batifol is a truly unique location for a wedding celebration. I photographed a wedding here, and the ambiance was unforgettable—warm, intimate, and beautifully styled with that classic Parisian charm. I area outside surrounding the restaurant in Kendall Square provided many photo opportunities as well. The staff was attentive, organized, and made the entire event feel seamless for the couple and their guests. The restaurant’s decor and lighting created so many stunning opportunities for photographs, both candid and posed. Batifol is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a stylish, sophisticated, and truly memorable wedding venue in Cambridge.
Came for the all you can eat steak & frites for $37 on Sundays and it was awesome!!! We also came during the winter storm so were almost the only ones in the restaurants. The meat itself was very juicy (for the first portion you can choose how it’s cooked, but the refill is all rather medium-rare). The green sauce went well with it. The refill was a lot (and unlimited) which made us literally roll home. Recommend! Side salad was $5 extra. If you arrive early you can also get the dollar oysters. Good date night or night out with big group of friends, enjoy!
Not a single complaint! It's a very chique atmosphere with extremely flavor food and excellent service. Was served promptly and had a wonderful meal, ordered the Chou-fleur rôti. Highly recommend! Cute date spot too!
This restaurant is a stylish, funky hidden gem with outstanding French cuisine. We were lucky enough to visit on Halloween, and the entire staff, dressed in elevated and fun costumes, perfectly captured the restaurant's quirky spirit. The service and experience were top-notch; their cocktails and drink selections were perfection. The food truly shines—from the delicious mussels my husband ordered to my absolutely wonderful Beef Bourguignon. Be sure to order the scrumdiddlyumptious baked brie to start!
Mother’s Day weekend out Was a success here. I love the place, first time for us. Very authentic feel for a French bistro, and that’s often not the case. Chose the mushroom omelette with fries. Both were delicious. Fries are the real French version. Have to return to try dinner.
Super worth it during dine out boston you can eat for 20 per person, One of the best offers I have had so far the Onion soup was mid wouldnt recommend also very small, smoked salmon was great and for entree the Cod and the Cordon bleu where pretty good 8/10. But the desserts were the best part, I think it is the best creme brûlée I have had and the profiterole was amazing.
Was a little worried coming here for my bday for the brunch buffet, given some lackluster reviews and complaints, but to our delight this was a completely WONDERFUL brunch! I couldn't recommend it enough. A great variety of really good quality food, wonderful fresh generous chunks of authentic cheese, great deserts, the French toast was outstanding, coffee and orange juice included, not to mention lots of fresh pastries (croissant, pain au chocolat etc.). What a wonderful way to spend a morning! The food was all hot (contrary to some reviews) and well stocked pretty much through closing. The ambiance is superb, very cute inside and also outside seating which is spacious and beautiful. I am definitely coming back for more!
Don’t listen to the bad reviews, this place is great! We got the foie gras, salmon crudo, and streak frites. If you like saucy, well seasoned food, this restaurant is the restaurant to go to.
Great little gem of Kendall Square! We had a lunch celebration for a one year anniversary for 2 colleagues. Food was great! Will keep in mind for future business dinners!
I travel to Paris 5x/yr and always dine at small, family owned bistros. Batifol is such a place. I took my nephew there last night with his petite amie and we all loved it! The room is beautiful, not overwhelming, and the lighting is divine. It welcomes conversation & I love that. Now the food: is exactly what you would eat in a Parisian bistro. The appetizers are cheese forward; in Paris you would find them for desert. The entrees: the canard is just everything! There was also a seasonal salad with smoked salmon added; the salmon was perfect. So many empty plates! The deserts were also standouts, a bread pudding my nephew couldn't resist (OMG this is the best thing I've ever had) and profiteroles. We had SO much fun! Definitely on faves list! Our server was so charming and attentive as is the owner.
I chose this spot because I wanted something that a college student would enjoy and that wasn’t far from the college. I have eaten all over the world, it’s one of my favorite things to do. I think I’m a decent critic when it comes to food. The restaurant is clean, staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I will definitely return here again. You can’t beat the price for their amazing brunch buffet.
We had breakfast at Batifol and it was such a lovely experience. The atmosphere was cozy, the food was delicious, and everything felt very well prepared. But what truly made our morning special was Natan. He was the one taking care of the tables, and he was absolutely outstanding. He was always attentive — clearing plates promptly, refilling our water without us even needing to ask, and checking in to see if we needed anything. He was extremely polite, proactive, and genuinely kind. His service made us feel comfortable, welcomed, and very well taken care of. Without a doubt, it was Natan’s attention and professionalism that made us feel at ease and truly enjoy our breakfast. Thank you for such a great experience — and special thanks to Natan!
We went for a Sunday date night, and every bit was phenomenal. We got there for dollar oysters, which were big, fresh, and delicious. We then had the steak frites and this was absolutely amazing - the sauce on top was also 10/10. The service team was incredibly attentive and kind, and they did a great job of not making us feel rushed and creating a warm environment. Finally, we ended with the mousse which was such an unexpected perk. We’ll absolutely be back and (as much as it pains me to encourage other people to crowd spaces we love) you should go, too.
This is a beautiful French restaurant! All of their food and drinks looked very nice and the aesthetic/design is immaculate inside. The burger and salad were very tasty, though the fries were overcooked and underwhelming. Would definitely recommend coming for a drink or a quick lunch
I had read that this is one of the best new restaurants in the city and since I love French cuisine, I was excited to go for my birthday. We went with friends and we all loved our plates. Georgia T was our waitress. She was great. She and the entire service staff were wonderful. We were never out of water. Someone is always nearby to help. Noise level: One of my favorite things about the evening is that it wasn’t as loud as other places can be, so we were able to have a conversation. Areas of improvement: Remember to refill the soap dispenser in the bathrooms. The ladies room was empty, but I found the refill bottle and refilled it. Remember to bring steak knives for people who order duck and steak. We had to ask for ours. My medium steak frites was actually well done, not medium. I also enjoy well done, but next time I’ll ask for medium rare to get the temperature I want. I recommend this restaurant for a special evening.
The atmosphere of this restaurant will transport you to a trendy Parisian Cafe. They have done a great job decorating this restaurant and even the seating makes you feel like you are people watching on Paris. The food was very good and the French onion soup is unique and very tasty. I would recommend getting it. We had a croque Monsieur which was good as well. The fries are very crispy too. I wish they would have included some kind of dipping sauce and when we requested some from the waiter, it never arrived.
Great upscale french restaurant in Kendall square ! Came here for a surprise date night and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Great space, though harder for larger groups. Given the tables, this is made for date nights or smaller groups (less than 5) enjoying an evening out. There were several highlights with the food. The appetizers were varied - the salmon and feta dip was not mixed well but good. For main courses, duck and beef dishes were big hits. We did not get the salads or chicken (poulet) but our waitress did state they were good for lighter appetites. In terms of drinks, cocktails were amazing! Lots of variety - vodka, tequila, and gin among others - and really delicious. They had a decent wine selection as well. Most of the wines were french, but they had some US domestic as well. Service was good, though some things could be improved upon, such as communicating wine or drink pairings, and providing more clear recommendations for appetizers and dessert. That said, we got our food relatively quick and were always checked out without overdoing it. The price is definitely something to consider, but given it's kendall square, it is going to be a bit higher end. Regardless, enjoyed the time here and hope to come back again soon!
The best espresso martini hands down!!!! The space was cute, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Upon entering, you aren't greeted right away due to not knowing exactly where the hostess stand is located, but once spotted, you are warmly welcome. Service was great overall. The dinner menu offering was minimal, but portions are big and filling. We started with the cheese and meat charcuterie board. I would recommend getting the boards separately vs. split. For drinks, I had the passionfruit martini, which came with a sidecar of champagne, and my friend had a french 75. For the meals, we had the mussels frites in the apple cider sauce (sounds weird but was delicious) and the steak frites (which was the original reason for coming here thanks to insta). The steak frites did go back due to my friend not liking the flavor. For dessert, we got the espresso martini, and we shared the creme brulee. The creme brulee was light and airy, which was odd because it is usually a thicker custard. The martini, well, you read the headline 😁. I would love yo go back to try the bruch menu, which looks amazing once it warms up.
Very solid lunch and dinner experiences. I've been to Batifol a couple times since they opened last fall, and most of my experiences here have been really good. The manager and the servers here are always pleasant to interact with, and I really like the retro vibe of the restaurant. They might not have the best French food in the city, but they are still delicious nonetheless. Some of the standout dishes include the beef tartare, tarte Alsacienne, mushroom vol au vent, and the duck confit. If you're coming here for dinner, just be aware that the portions are quite small for the entrees, so i would recommend getting at least two per person.
Glad I finally tried this great French restaurant in Cambridge. Loved the vibe of the room, and many dishes were well executed and delicious, although a bit under salted. Escargots were garlicky and fresh with parsley but had to sprinkle with some salt. Monkfish over polenta was a nice entree, and my son's steak frites were cooked perfectly. Definitely try the cheesecake and creme brulee. The service was a bit slow with our apps and entrees coming out at the same time. Room was filled so it was a very busy night. I would go back another time with some friends to try some other dishes.
We had buffet at Batifol during weekend and its brunch buffet is a culinary journey that transports you straight to the heart of Paris. It offers a delightful array of dishes that cater to both savory and sweet palates. The French toast was super. The staffs are attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. It worth to try and it’s a must-visit.
Came in several weeks ago to enjoy some oysters. They were lean and small. Wish that they were bigger. The escargot was delicious. Ambiance definitely was upscale.
Dinner at Batifol was excellent. Wonderful atmosphere, reasonable prices, nice food, very good service. I had baked cod which was fresh and delicious. Crème brute is among the best I’ve had in Nee England. Will come back!
Came here for the unlimited steak+ fries. Really friendly service, actual french speaking staff (!!!), and good atmosphere & location. Steak was pretty salty and not cooked to a perfect medium rare but still really pretty good. They were generous with refills.
Good... not great. Had the escargot and the ravioli. Escargot were yummy. The ravioli were very tender, but the filling and the sauce were pretty bland. Husband had the Beef Bourgongne, and again... was very good. Not mind blowing. They stick to the classics with not a lot of nouvelle thinking.
Always delicious food, great cocktails and wonderful service in a cute cozy place! The crêpe dinner on February 2nd was amazing! Wish crêpes were available more often. 😊
I came with a group for the brunch buffet. As I have a dairy allergy, I wasn't able to participate in the buffet. They were able to modify an omelet from the menu - although the kitchen did add cheese and have to remake it, so be vigilant if you have allergies! Overall, the food was a little disappointing and bland. You are definitely paying for the atmosphere here (which is adorable and fun). And front of house staff is attentive and knowledgeable.
Cute space. Super cute in fact and very spacious and French feeling. The menu is classic French and everything we ordered was very good The mashed potatoes/pommes puree were almost perfect aside from a few slightly undertone potato bits. If the cocktails had been a bit better and (my per peeve) the smell of whatever they tables are wiped down with, I would have done 4 stars- I wish there were 1/2 stars because its more than a 3 star spot. The staff were excellent super attentive and knowledgeable. I cannot wait for the bakery to open too. I’ll be back again and next time maybe stick to the wine list.
Had high expectations, maybe too high? The cocktails were good, muscles were salty, chicken was bland, and we found a piece of foil on the potato gratin. The gratin was replaced although the replacement took 30 mins to be served. The basque cheesecake is worth a try. Atmosphere and interior is lovely.
A nice restaurant that’s beautifully decorated and aesthetically pleasing. It’s at a great location and I often pass by the restaurant, eager to try it out. The service here was wonderful, staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately, we found the food here to be underwhelming. Their Beef Bourguignon was dry and the sauce was bland. Their Veal Stew was mediocre (sauce could’ve been better), but the Coq Au Vin was ok. We intended to order dessert but had second thoughts after the dining experience. I think it’s fair to have higher expectations for entrees that are worth $40 - the quality of food did not properly reflect the prices on the menu. I recommend to visit the Boulangerie next door instead (they have some delicious coffee and pastries)
tl;dr: Our group of 5 noticed a surprising lack of consistency across the same dishes. While I personally enjoyed my first two courses, others in our party weren’t nearly as impressed. The quality wasn’t uniform, which left the experience feeling a bit hit-or-miss. I visited during Dine Out Boston and overall, the experience was fine. The ambiance definitely leans upscale, with romantic lighting, stylish bar, and outdoor space. There's also no obvious host stand (how European!). Dine Out Boston dinner was $38 per person, covering an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. I ordered the assiette de saumon fumé (smoked salmon plate for a $3 surcharge), cabillaud rôtis & légumes de saison (roasted cod fish with seasonal veggies), and riz au lait (rice pudding). I skipped the fromage course for an extra $6 for two cheeses. With all the upcharges, it felt like the value of the prix fixe menu was undermined - but compared to their regular pricing, still seemed like a deal. What kept surprising me was the inconsistency. Two people ordered the pâté de campagne and ended up with dishes that looked nothing alike. The side salads didn't even have the same ingredients - one came with radishes and tomatoes, the other greens only. The mains had the same issue, this time with the cod - mine was thoughtfully arranged, while the other was thrown together haphazardly, with different veggies and a less refined appearance overall. On the flip side though, portion sizes were unexpectedly generous! I felt full after the starter and stuffed after the main. By the time dessert came around, I could barely manage a few bites of the riz au lait (which wasn't that good, so fine by me). The salmon itself was decent, though the white bread was a bit sad. It almost looked like there was caviar on top, but I was perfectly happy with the blackberries that it turned out to be. The roasted cod was also excellent, and the vegetables were exceptional for hanging perfectly in that "just right" spot. On a side note, the bathroom didn’t live up to expectations. While not terrible, it was noticeably dirtier and smellier than the rest of the restaurant's interior would lead you to expect.
Bad service, beautiful place and food just as expected. We went in for Crepes night and samples quite a few crepes, they were good but small
This is my second time at Batifol. The atmosphere is a cozy and quiet. The food was all over the place. Our server was attentive and accommodating; the food runners seemed overwhelmed and several times brought a wrong dish or forgot to bring a dish. The catch of the day fish was excellent; the vegetables were mushy. The steak was cooked beautifully; the frites were bland. The profiteroles were tasty; the creme brûlée was curdled. With a mix of hits and misses, your experience may vary.
I brought some visiting guests for dinner here last night and the ambience outside was great. The food, however, was a bit disappointing. I love French food so was really excited to try it. The French onion soup was lacking some flavor and depth — though was ample in cheese. When asked which dishes were popular the waiter mentioned that there were a lot of changes so they were still waiting for feedback. I got a very classic dish — Beef Bourguignon. I would say the dish was just ok. My plate actually wasn’t very warm which probably contributed. The beef was more like two chunks of small short rib and it did not have the small pearl onions that typically come with the dish. My guest had the coq au vin which he enjoyed. My other two guests ordered the duck confit. That was the very underwhelming — typically duck confit is a piece of tender duck leg or other piece with some accoutrements. This duck was served in a small ramekin that was shredded on the bottom with sweet potato puree on top? It was really unexpected and the description on the menu did not explain it well. Had it been described that way, we would not have ordered it as shredded duck is a little odd (almost like pulled pork). Overall the dinner was enjoyable for the atmosphere but I don’t know if I would go back for the food necessarily.
Quick summary: The brunch buffet was good and fun to try once, but I don't think it's worth the $38/person cost so we are unlikely to go back for it again. We went for the all you can eat brunch. We showed up slightly early to our reservation and were seated early. The brunch itself was mixed. The eggs, bacon, sausage, and veggies were no better than any other breakfast buffet, and since its $38 per person I would expect them to be little nicer. I thought the pancakes were good and French toast was delicious. The charcuterie at the front of the buffet line was empty when we first arrived but was refilled in time to try it on the 2nd pass. It was a small but decent selection, but again for the price I would expect a little more. Where the buffet shined was the pastries and desserts. All that we tried were very good, especially the king cake, croissants, and tiramisu. The drinks we got were good, and the coffee that was included in the buffet was decent. The final cost was high, for two people for the buffet and one cocktail each was over $100. The service was fine, they were very good about clearing old plates from the tables but it felt like our server ignored us most of the time we were there.
Came for the $38 brunch buffet — very disappointed. Food quality was poor: dry, burnt brussels sprouts, pancakes, and French toast, plus overcooked, tough steak. Service was slow, and instead of asking how things were, the manager told us not to waste food. Cute space and convenient location, but not worth the price.
Came yesterday for the special “Fondue night” and unfortunately left very disappointed. The service was good, no complaints there however the food was a joke. For $35 per person they bring out a small bowl of cheese with two small bowls of bread and cauliflower. No meats or cornichon or anything else fun that you can dip in. Also, the cheese bowl was sitting directly on top of a candle, normally for fondue you should have two bowls, one with water and the candle heats the water. So halfway through the fondue it became hard and inedible and stuck to the bottom of the bowl. Was browsing other reviews and they all seemed to say the same - good atmosphere, bad and expensive food
DISAPPOINTED. DON'T COME FOR THE UNLIMITED STEAK!!!!! We came here for unlimited steak Sunday. The wait for the steak was about 10 minutes. The host was nice; however, the service was not. It honestly felt like they didn’t care about us at all. Throughout the entire dining experience, our server never checked on us, yet frequently checked on the table next to us. Now, about the steak—it was BAD. When it first arrived, it looked delicious, but after taking a bite, it was absolutely the worst. It was so chewy that I had a hard time swallowing it. There was no seasoning on the steak, only the green sauce. Because of how tough it was, the only thing I could actually eat were the fries. I had high expectations for this restaurant based on the good reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing.
Food was very poor quality, felt like a slightly fancier continental breakfast. Pancakes were paper thin and soggy, French toast was also soggy. All food was extremely dry and inconsistent. Eggs were wet, spongey. I felt genuinely sick after. Paid 38 dollars and wasted my money. Great service tho
