We enjoyed dinner for restaraunt week 2026. Portions were generous and the food was excellent! We each got and enjoyed a cocktail as well. The little popcorn they bring out to snack on is super delish! And everything came out super timely. They had live music as well and she was fun, talented, and super kind. The vibes were immaculate and so was the food. Plus I love supporting Black owned businesses year round, but I suppose its extra nice to do so during BHM. Can't wait to go back! And YES there is free parking!! Kinda hard to find but once you do the exit from the lot is literally like 10 steps to the front of the restaraunt. Talk about chefs kiss!! 🤌🏻
We came for my cousin's birthday from out of town. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Our server Jerrard, aka Mr. Turn up, was AMAZING!! Everything he recommended was delicious! We loved absolutely everything we tried! He made my cousin's birthday one we won't forget! We'll definitely be back!!!
My wife and I came from AL, to celebrate my Born Day, with my cousin and her husband. We had a great time. The music, atmosphere, service (from Evanye) and food (Tomahawk steak, mashed potatoes, cream corn, and Asparagus were "fye" (🔥 for those that don't know chicago language 😆). We will definitely be back.
We had a ladies night here and this place did not disappoint! The food was🔥🔥🔥, and portions were large. Prices are reasonable. I had lamb chops for my entrée which comes with mashed potatoes, then I added a side order of asparagus. My drink was delicious, I had a margaritas made with titos (I don't do tequila. Waitress, Cheyenne, was awesome with managing our large group. I will be returning with the hubby! Oh, reservations STRONGLY suggested!!
Once we arrived in our Sprinter Van for our 8:15pm reservation we had to wait about 45 min. IT WAS FINE WITH US!!! They were cleaning up our area and finishing up last guests. From the minute we were greeted by RAY (MANAGER) and sweet curly haired receptionist we knew service would be great! We went on a Saturday 8/2/25. We were seated by 9pm, given our welcome to “Chemistry “ talk. Showed how to order in mini card. The server we had was a young light skinned man. He was amazing (can’t remember his name). He looked like a mini Mojo Brookz comedian lol. He was off the chain very thorough and knowledgeable. Took our order. By the time we came the nice RB set was ending and the DJ and crunk man came! Baby it turned into club vibes immediately!! The staff here loves their job. From the bus boys to the chef! Everyone was on 1 accord! We ordered got food and drinks. Food was amazing!!! They shouted out many people our FRIENDS BIRTHDAY AND HER BACHELORETTE PARTY WAS IN 1. We had a time!! For 10 women we paid about $800 plus our $160 reservation hold was deducted from our bill. Baby it’s worth every dollar! The chef here knows his business the steak melted in my mouth on my creamy Alfredo. The lamb chops are huge and the drinks are DRINKIN!!! Thanks RAY and staff for making our experience UNFORGETTABLE!!!! SUPPORT BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES.
Our waiter Jerod, was attentive and informative. The vibe was mellow and the guitarists were in sync. The additional details to the caramelization of the sea bass was fun to watch. The baked chicken and garlic mash dish was good. The young guitarist played happy birthday to a customer. This was a good night for having dinner out. And a few fried Oreos was the icing on the cake. Not to mention the parking garage was free with validation.
My friends & I had such a great experience! Jessica was our server & she made it a really great experience for us although we felt a bit rushed we understand Saturday night is a very busy time but Thank you Jessica for your great service
Cute, upscale experience, amazing food! Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Perfect ambiance- will definitely go again when visiting Chicago. Again- food was incredible!
I had an amazing experience at Chemistry. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful—warm, vibrant, and inviting from the moment I walked in. I came alone after being stood up, but the staff completely turned my night around. Everyone was so welcoming, especially my waiter, Jerrard and the Manager Oleta . He and she were incredibly pleasant, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire team made me feel comfortable and valued, and they truly made my evening special. This has been the best experience I’ve had in Chicago so far. I’m so grateful for the hospitality and will definitely be back!
I celebrated my 50th Birthday 🎂 here. It was amazing from the live band to the food and drinks. Black Owned check this place out in the Chicago area.
Heard a few clients speak of this restaurant. And to no surprise my husband surprised me by celebrating our my 20th anniversary together, at Chemistry. At first there was an issue with our seating and it took the staff a little while to situation us. But once we were, the experience was worthwhile the wait. There was a live band, singing some of the best r&b, soul music. They also had a DJ and he was on point too. The food was good, the drinks were great. The menu is crafted in such a way that allowed me and my husband to go back down our memory lane; love this added touch. There was so much going on yet in a delicate smooth way; it was flame seared steaks being done, people celebrating everything from birthdays to anniversary’s, and some even dancing to the sounds of the amazing band. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing staff. Very swanky ,romantic, and hipster like atmosphere. Definitely will be back.
My fiancé came to celebrate my birthday. Our server was Ray, he was very helpful and attentive. We reserved so we didn’t have a wait time , and ever our food came out super fast. The music was def a vibe to whoever was playing that guitar!!
I had the pleasure of dining at Chemistry Chicago on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience! The Wagyu sliders were packed with flavor, and the filet mignon, mashed potatoes, asparagus, roasted Brussels sprouts, and Gouda mac and cheese were all outstanding. The butter cake stole the show crisp on the outside, warm and moist inside, topped with fresh berries and ice cream. Simply incredible! The drinks were fun and creative, especially with the dry ice presentation, and the music created a lively, welcoming vibe. The staff looked sharp and delivered excellent service. The only downside was the wait our 9:00 PM reservation wasn’t honored until 9:55 PM, and there was no seating available while we waited. Still, the overall experience made it worth it. I highly recommend Chemistry Chicago it’s a must visit!
I went here for my birthday and I enjoyed the food the steak was so tender and juicy! I enjoyed the live music as well
Went here to have dinner with some friends. It was a group of 8 people and our server Jerrad “Mr.Turnup” didn’t miss a beat! Food came out quickly, he was very accommodating and attentive to whatever need we had. I would for sure recommend this place. I had a great experience.
This place was an entire vibe. Short little wait time with a reservation but we had a chance to grab a drink at bar while waiting. Drinks were on point and food was amazing definitely did not disappoint. The service was amazing and very professional. Will be back and highly recommended!
The food, atmosphere, and service was amazing. Absolutely loved it and would recommend 10/10. Staff were very kind and engaging. Make sure you get the wings and cheesy garlic bread for the appetizer! My sister had the stuffed salmon and I had lamb chops. Both were delicious but I wish I would’ve gotten the salmon. Drinks were ok, but I’d likely go to a bar afterwards instead. I was so excited for the macaroni and cheese but it was just ok… I expected live music but instead there was a Dj when I went. He was really good and I loved it, but I wanted that jazz lol. It was very loud so I wouldn’t suggest Dj night for a first date unless you want to be yelling across the table all night. Not sure if you can call ahead to see what entertainment is scheduled. Overall it was expensive for me but I absolutely loved it, worth every penny. I spent a little over $230 for the meals mentioned above. Enjoy 😘
8/9/25, I took my husband to Chemistry for his birthday celebration. From jump by walking into the location I knew it was going to be a good time. Loved the decor. Loved that we were greeted without an attitude by the staff and didn't have to wait for our table not one minute. Our server Pierre was cool & explained everything that we asked about on the menu. We will most definitely go back again! The food is good & worth paying the $$. The staff is nice and we didn't have any rude or crazy encounters (thank God) the vibe of the restaurant was chill and they offer live entertainment nightly. I would recommend this location to anyone for a date night or girls night or whatever night lol. Few points for advice if you do plan on going. 1. Be sure to do a table reservation - you will only be allowed 90 mins. So be sure to look at their menu prior to going so you don't waste time ordering etc. go and already know what you want to have. 2. They offer validation on parking in the lot that is shared with Whole Foods & Marshalls so be sure that you get your ticket stamped before you leave. 3. They only take cards - no cash 4. Gratuity will be 20% no matter how many ppl in ur party and 5% for entertainment (just FYI) 5. There's a dress code - check their site for exact attire options 6. Go & have fun! This is a Black owned restaurant - support your own! 💯💪🏽 To the owner(s) - Can y'all please bring a location to the Westside of Chicago pretty please?? Lol, I'll be sure to come to that one! ❤️ God bless.
The night was amazing my husband and I were celebrating a birthday with a love one. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and warm. The vibe and music options was amazing. The lemon drop flight is a must try! 😉 The staff was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and made awesome suggestions for food options. Our server was RAY! He was fast paced but provided an awesome service. If you are in our amazing CITY this place is a must to visit. Be prepared to be amazed. My rating for this restaurant is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ PLEASE BE ADVISED CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED ON PREMISES!
First time in Chicago from Florida. Really enjoyed myself and our waiter Jeremiah. He really created the experience. The food was amazing and the vibes did not disappoint. If I ever visit Chi-Town in the future I will for sure come back!!!!!!
High end restaurant with good service and good food. I was totally impressed with this venue. It brings a 5 star experience to the neighborhood.
I wasn’t even supposed to be here. But I seriously found this place after hopping on yelp and looking for some late night eats/vibes. S/o to the staff for the great service and food. Faith (my waiter) was helpful and professional. She walked me through the menu and made sure I got a great cocktail to get started. Faith was attentive without being overbearing. Food came out quick and fresh. The Caesar salad is gigantic for $12. I kept it modest but it was dope seeing the show that came out with the larger steak options (be prepared for some fanfare if you get a steak lol). Get the filet mignon medium or the Cowboy for 2 if you’re in a large group and looking to share.
This place is a whole vibe. The energy is amazing! The food is top tier. The lamb chops..A++. Sunday Brunch is a MUST DO. I’m a chef myself and therefore very picky. Chemistry Chicago will not disappoint. A must try!!
My server Evan’ye was amazing. She had the best energy and fed into my shenanigans and energy and I love that for your establishment. She’s going to bring out the best in everyone who crosses her path. Her smile and professionalism is on a high and I am glad that she was my server. There were others workers such as Jerrod and Ray 🫶🏽🤎✊🏽
fresh and good, lamb chops was big not small at all, mash potatoes good!!! yes they are a little expensive but u get what u pay for!!! KENNY was amazing he was professional, nice, and gave great options. I’ll definitely be back. Only reason I gave 9/10 it’s cold inside yes they had heater but to cold I wore my coat.
We had an amazing time in Valentine’s Day! The atmosphere was nice! The food was so favorable! Our waiter Jarrod was top notch!!! He was patient , energetic, funny, knowledgeable and I would def request him again! What a night!
Chemistry Chicago was the perfect Valentine’s nightcap spot. We stopped in for cocktails and dessert, and everything was top tier. Our chemist, Malone, was amazing and chose the butter cake for us — and it was unreal. Warm, rich, and absolutely worth it. Great drinks, great vibe, great service. We’ll definitely be back. 🍸✨
Brought my woman here for her Bday and did not disappoint. Atmosphere was quite inviting very upscale from the decor to lighting to dress code. Music was tasteful and matched the atmosphere. Food was great that cowboy steak is straight pressure🤠🔥 Drinks are strong and although it feels a bit tight i was not able to involuntarily hear the conversations of others seated around us. We were even placed at the stand-alone table by the door and no complaints no draft nothing! Shyanne was very tentative and upbeat and wished my woman a happy bday more than once, she was a delight. Much appreciated we will be back i can certainly see Chemistry moving locations and getting a bigger spot with the success in due time ⏲️ Chefs to cooks and table-side shows for steaks strong drinks we will def be back💯🙂↕️💨
We visited Chemistry on 2/16/26 to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The entire experience was a vibe!! Jerrard, our server did not disappoint! Every item we ordered was delicious! We will definitely be back!
We came in for Sunday brunch and had Jerrard A.K.A. “Mr. Turn Up” as our server. He made sure we were well taken care of in our time there. He enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed him partying with us. The rest of the staff was nice as well. It was a very welcoming environment. We will be back next time we’re in town.
We had an amazing dining experience with *Jessica*. She was attentive and prompt. She made great dinner recommendations. We had lamb chops, steak, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, creamed corn, truffle Parmesan fries, and the butter cake for dessert. All the food was delicious, seasoned well, and came out hot. The music was great as well. To top it off, It was my husband’s birthday, and the staff made it extra special with the added details with Jessica orchestrating all of it. Thank you kindly for making today special. We will definitely come back.
Do i recommend yes yes!! I'm from N.O. so when I visited for brunch it was amazing! I'm not a fan of buffet style but hear me out..this buffet was pressure!! The food was so damn good, you didnt need nothing else..well the grits needed a lil more salt for me but nothing else..then you get lamb chops with the buffet..im like wait this comes with it! Fell in love ya hear me! Then they have flights. I had some type of flight with fruit on top and she had a mimosa flight. The DJ was rolling & the drinks were top tier..I do apologize I don't remember my server name but he was a tall black male. The hostesses she was so sweet when I went to check in. She said "where you from bc I can hear it". The restaurant was so clean even the restrooms. Also i know the idea of them dressed like Chemist. If you ever in Chicago this is a must..we went there on a Sunday. Don't take my word just go to Chicago and try em out!
I visited here for my birthday dinner & the atmosphere/music is amazing! My dinner & mocktail was great but i will say i felt like service was slow. It took awhile for my server to come back to check on us. We ate here on a monday night so it wasn’t even that busy. Besides the “ok” service the food/drinks were amazing as well as the music & atmosphere!
The food was great. Had the jerk salmon, steak and frites, and mac and chz. It is a beautiful atmosphere with live music.
This place was a whole vibe! The hostess she was the BEST! If dining with larger parties there's was a $20 per person reservation fee (but it towards that person tap). The ambiance was nice. I loved the fact that 90% of the staff was African American men. Their black and white tuxedo uniforms was a hit. We had a party of 8 and was seated as soon as our whole party arrived. I ordered the alfredo pasta added salmon and a Pink Tink drink. The salmon was over cooked almost tasted like chicken...lol But the pasta itself was flavorful. The drink was AMAZING! A couple of pple in my party ordered the lamb chops and baked chicken and other pasta plates. Which they enjoyed. Other drinks ordered: Lemon drop martini; Espresso martini and strawberry margaritas ALL drinks were on point. The only thing I didn't like and we should've been informed in the beginning. Is that larger parties only had two ways to receive their ticket and pay: The entire bill could be split "evenly" b/t your whole party or get one check and youre left to tally up your total. That was the BIGGEST downfall for me. They also charged a $25 cake fee to just bring the cake in the building. Theres a 5% entertainment fee. Then 20% gratuity. Thats way toooooo many fees. But overall it was a dope establishment! One of the best "Overall" louges thats I've visited.
The food is phenomenal!!! Love the ambiance here as well. Our service added so much to our experience. He had recommendations for everything! This was so helpful for us since it was our first visit. Presentation and food was on point. We went on a night when there was live music. The band was nice. However, we were charged an entertainment fee on top of our bill and gratuity. I thought that was excessive. I go to many live venue spaces and don't pay extra, extra. That would be my only Con about the place
My best friend and I visited Chicago for the July 4th weekend. My sister had recommended this place because it’s somewhere she wanted to try. The ambience is very nice and pretty with great photo opportunities as soon as you walk in. Without reservations, you’re going to be waiting awhile; doesn’t matter how many is in your party. We waited close to an hour to be seated and we were close to leaving because of that as well as it just seem chaotic inside. Although the hostess was nice, it just seem like things weren’t organized. Like the folks that did have reservations were waiting to be seated as well. There wasn’t really an area for you to wait either so we all were just in the way sort of speak. It’s very loud in there; the music, the talking amongst each other, like you will need to text the people you’re with in order to communicate at the table. They offer different types of water which is nice. For drinks, I went with what our waitress suggested which I shouldn’t have because of the price. I got the date night flight which was $40. The size of the drinks were disappointing for the price. Taste wise was good. Best friend got the 24k gold lemonade, she enjoyed it! We ordered the truffle malfadine Alfredo with ribeye steak, faroe island mango jerk salmon over mashed potatoes, and crispy Brussels sprouts. Food was a 10/10 but be prepared to spend big $$$. Here’s where the disappointment came in at. Apparently there’s a time limit on your seating so our waitress came and told us we’re nearing the end of our time so would we like a to go box for our food. We declined because we were pretty much done. Then she proceeds to say that unfortunately she can’t split the check. They add a 20% gratuity fee and a 5% entertainment fee because the DJ & live entertainment. Spent $250 for two people. Despite the food & drinks being delicious, I probably wouldn’t visit again just based off the chaotic atmosphere, the noise level, and the pricing/size ratio.
Went last night for the first time and the food and vibe was great. I had the waguya steak and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection it was delicious. I do wish it had a better side to come with it like broccoli or mashed potatoes instead of french fries but the fries were pretty good too.
The food was great and everything we ordered was well prepared and flavorful. Pierre B, our server, was very attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. The only downside was the noise level—it was much louder than expected for a Monday night, but overall we still had a good experience. 2 Entrees, 1 side, 2 drinks + 20% gratuity = 197.14
Came here for restaurant week! The vibes/decor, live music and playlist (shoutout Cleo sol 🫶🏾), desserts and drinks were all delicious. The food however fell short (nothing seemed like it was seasoned unfortunately). Food + desserts we tried: -CRISPY SALMON STICKS -WAGYU SMASH SLIDERS -FAROE ISLAND MANGO JERK SALMON -BANANAS FOSTER -FRIED OREOS Drinks we tried: -AUTUMN ROSE -MISSED CONNECTIONS I honestly would only come back for the music and drinks, and I liked the concepts of having “getting to know your date” cards on the table and the waiters/waitresses dressed with lab coats as their blazers
The restaurant seems small upon entry until you get a good look around. There is a bar area, but there are no chairs for customers to directly sit at the bar. There are a few tables in the corner of the bar that were used for guests that were waiting. There were also two, small standing tables used for a few guests to lean on directly in front of the bar. All other customers have to stand and wait until a table opens. There was music playing, which was more R&B, with some hip hop and Afrobeats. The server was great. His energy was upbeat, which I enjoyed. The food was steaming hot when it arrived at the table, which I appreciated. My wine was warm instead of chilled, and at the price point, it should have been chilled. There was a surprise fee in the ticket, which was an entertainment fee that was unexpected. This is not the place to go for just a casual night out. Overall, the experience was just okay.
I came for Sunday brunch. Hyperfocus on entertainment and zero focus on the quality of the food. While I'm sure most patrons found it to be a fun atmosphere with positive vibes, I'm willing to bet no one thought the food was it. Some people in my party noted that the wings were good but otherwise, no other redeeming culinary qualities. Looking for the ideal party setting for the "socially awkward"? This is your jam. The music is too loud to carry on any type of conversation. You can chair dance to your heart's content with a plate of food in front of you for a convenient distraction. Enjoy! 🎶
The food was amazing! I had filet mignon which I loved and my fiancé had a chicken pasta. The ambiance was beautiful as always as this was my 3rd visit and I loved the drinks! The chef presenting the food had great vibes as well. We got complimentary prosecco to celebrate our engagement. That was nice. My concerns were that certain food items were priced higher on the bill then the menu, which we weren’t aware of until after payment because the server didn’t present us with a bill she walked to the table and stated “okay we’re shutting this part of the restaurant down for the night, it comes out to $300”. She also didn’t inform us that gratuity was included(which we could’ve seen if we were presented a bill) & she was tipped double. This left us feeling rushed & pressured. However, my pros outweighed my cons & I’d definitely come back, just more aware & less trustworthy.
We paid over $300 just to get luke warm food and have the staff forget our other orders. We waited for a hour and had to let the staff know we didn’t get our other meals. When I let the staff know they forgot our meals and that I didn’t want it anymore the server said he was just going to make it to go for us… Even though I didn’t want it anymore after waiting for a whole hour. The food is not good quality, I paid full price just to have terrible service. This place has potential but it’s disappointing I paid so much money for food that was low quality I feel scammed. Here’s a picture of my food to go. What a shame. It was my first time here I expected a better experience, will not be coming back.
Brunch was subpar for $60/pp we should’ve had more options. Salmon overcooked in the grits. Lamb chops were overcooked. The atmosphere I guess is what we paid for host and DJ were great. Very disappointed in the food. A bowl full of grapes not a true fruit mixture or option
Where to begin….well, I work in the industry myself so I try to be understanding but this was not it. My date & I were sat at a table ON stage beside the piano player….on a slow night. While the musician was great, we could barely hear each other. We ordered a salad for an appetizer and it came out 5 minutes before EVERYTHING we ordered also came out? Oh but not our drinks. So we sat for 10 minutes without drinks. We came in for the restuarant week menu and I found it so odd that ALL of our food came at once. Yes, even the dessert? Why would anyone want fried Oreos to be cold? Those should come out relatively fresh IMO. The chef (who brought out our food) offered to take back the Oreos but I didn’t want anymore mishaps honestly. Also, our (pregnant) server seemed to be very nauseous & we wondered why they give her the furthest table from the kitchen (with a step to get to our table.) We realized after we finished eating that the tables pop up into round tables, which would’ve been great to know when ALL of our food came at once. Also, only one dessert option was offered from the 2 listed online and didn’t come with the vanilla cream that was listed. I’d hope for better but at least it was at a discounted price.
The place is very loud and chaotic. Even after making reservations we still had to stand and wait. It took a server well over twenty minutes to even visit the table for our order. Then another long awaited time to receive the drinks and meal. The music was way to loud we had to basically yell our order to the server twice to get it right. Overall the pasta was good ,the lamb chops were well under cooked. As far as pricing let's just say we spent $208.37 on two pastas a side salad and a martini.
My boyfriend and I were so excited to try this restaurant for Restaurant Week, because of all the stellar reviews. However, it was the most disappointing dining experience we’ve had. Our server was very nice and welcoming until we told her we were wanting to try out the PRIX FIX menu. Her whole demeanor changed and she barely checked up on us throughout our dinner. I understand that the prix fix menu is highly discounted however, we are still paying customers and should be treated with respect. Our food was brought out all at once, including the dessert that contained ice cream. By the time we had the dessert, our ice cream was practically melted. Also, the “live entertainment” was extremely loud and we were seated right next to the makeshift stage. I was screaming to talk to my boyfriend and we could barely hear each other. We felt extremely rushed to eat and leave.
We came here for the restaurant week, and all the staff are very nice and welcoming, so this review is not about any staff working there. But here are a few things that I was not happy about: 1. Our order includes 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, and 2 desserts. All of the food, including the desserts, were served in less than 10 minutes. I’m not sure if they are even made after we ordered. In fact, there were so many plates that our server had to put our dessert on the table next to us. We had to finish the food very fast so they don’t get cold. 2. I had this feeling that we were treated very differently because we are ordering from the restaurant week menu. Our water cups were never filled after they are empty, and all the other tables have small lamps except ours. I know it’s silly to complain about water and little lamps, but for a restaurant with this price range, they should understand to treat customers equally regardless of what food they order - especially considering our bill ended up being $150 including an automatic 20% gratuity fee. 3. The food was very salty to my taste - and I say this as someone who eats hotpot and Szechuan food on a regular basis. I understand each restaurant has their own taste and I think that’s something we can agree to disagree. For a restaurant with that price range, I hope they could do better with how they treat customers and serve their food. There are many restaurants in Hyde Park that provide better quality food within similar price range. I would rather spend my money at Virtue next time.
Service is TERRIBLE!. Walked in got completely ignored by the hostess. She was on her phone and pretended not to notice me for at least 5 min before assisting. Some weirdo employee in a bedazzled blue jean outfit and several gold plated fake chains was extremely rude to us from the min we walked in as well. Couldn’t tell if it was a restaurant or low budget club. Save your money if you want a pleasant UPSCALE! dining experience. Chicago has Much Better to Offer.. keep in mind it was New Year’s Eve!! They closed the entire Dining area and kicked us out so they could throw a party!.. I don’t know if this place is black owned but if so PLEASE!!! Train your employees!!! Or Sell it to someone who knows what they’re doing.
