My experience at Tre Dita was absolutely incredible. To start, the entire restaurant is stunning. I adored the dimly lit atmosphere with beautiful decorations throughout the space. We were here just before the holidays, so the lights and ornaments made for a classy Christmas dinner. The food was to die for. I cannot remember all the names of our dishes, unfortunately, but I do believe that showing the images to the staff could help since they would be able to identify them. I was very, very pleased with my meal. The table found their entrees to also be quite divine. Even the appetizers had me obsessed. Our dessert was one of a kind as well. Finally, we were delighted to have such professional and kind service given to us by our waiter. He was patient, polite, and friendly to us all. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends, family, and anyone who is looking for a charming restaurant in the area. I would love to return when I am back in the state.

I've been here twice, but most recently on my birthday. We had the schiacciata bianca, polpette de brasato, fiorri di zucca, patate fritte, linguini al limone, spaghetti alle vongole, mushroom pasta (seasonal special), rigatoncini all'arrabbiata, tagliata di manzo, New York strip, and the torta all'olio d'olivia. For drinks, I got the solo noi (very unique flavors in a good way. Would recommend ) and my husband got the Il tempo (he loved it too). They also have cool ice 😂. Everything was truly delicious but if I had to pick my personal favorites, it would be the linguini al limone (it's something I would crave and order again and is my second time ordering), the all'arrabbiata (it's pretty much spicy rigatoni and imo better than Carbone in NYC), as and the New York strip steak (I had swifts and sons and was disappointed but this steak hit the spot). All the pastas were delicious. Everyone had their own favorites so I wouldnt sleep on any of the dishes. Also I had the branzino last time and it was top tier 🤤

I’m not sure why it took us so long to dine here, but it has quickly become our favorite restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the décor and warm, welcoming atmosphere make a strong impression. Each dish that we ordered had outstanding flavors. I recommend all the dishes that we ordered. We also enjoyed our waiter, Ruben. He guided us through the menu and was spot on with all his recommendations. We can not wait to return

My wife and I are frequent visitors to Chicago and make it a point to dine at Tre Dita every time since we discovered it. The food is exceptional as is the service. On our most recent trip, we arrived well ahead of our reservation and simply ate at the bar, watching the cocktails being crafted. Same menu as the dining room but a different atmosphere, and the same great food and service.

We stopped by the bar side of Tre Dita in Chicago, and it was such a great experience. The atmosphere was relaxed but elevated, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy really good food. The bread was absolutely awesome — fresh, warm, and the kind you keep reaching for without even thinking. The meatballs were amazing as well, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Even the entrée we ordered was very good, rounding out a meal that felt thoughtful and well executed from start to finish. Tre Dita definitely impressed, and I’d happily return the next time I’m in Chicago.

There are many restaurants to choose from in Chicago but I really wanted to try the Morel mushroom that I saw was served in the spinach gnudi since my family and I would forage for these when I was a little girl. Unfortunately, the Morel wasn't being served at the time of our visit but Chanterelles were served instead. The gnudi was the softest most flavorful dish I could hope to eat. We also ordered a special that evening that is not normally served on the menu, a ravioli that included freshly grated truffle mushrooms on top and again, so much flavor. The swordfish was delicious too. Everything we ate was a delight. The service was amazing and staff took time to educate us on the mushrooms and our meals. We never felt rushed even though all tables were full and a stream of people continued to show up. I highly recommend this restaurant, staff, and Chef for creating such a beautiful sensory experience. The only other restaurant I've eaten at that compares is Sentido Norte Provincia de Guanacaste, Las Catalinas. The cumulative effect of all the senses being treated at once really does it for me.

Worth the visit. Very formal and expansive ambiance good city views tableside. Our waiter was very nice and helpful as well. The food was all solid. The bread was soft supple with a great tomato sauce and cheese. The gnocchi fritti was unique take on cheese balls and very creamy. All three pastas were unique and classic flavors done very well. Balanced spice with red saucy flavor on the arrabiata. The cacio e Pepe classic pasta with creamy and perfect pasta texture. The limon pasta was the most unique and best from the three as it’s unique and lemony but not enough to put you off; very well executed. The mocktails were decent have had better, espresso martini was very good they are also very expensive for the taste. The tiramisu was not really tiramisu our least favorite dish I think it didn’t do justice to the classics flavors of tiramisu; youcould skip it. Overall worth the trip for some of the best pasta in town and great location!

Tre-dita truly stands out as one of the absolute best fine dining destinations in Chicago. From the moment we were seated, the experience was top notch, delivering an evening of culinary excellence that we won't soon forget. The fact that they make their pasta in-house is evident in every bite. Their gnocchi was so delicious—light, pillowy, and perfectly sauced. But the true revelation was their pesto pasta, which was genuinely one of a kind; a fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced dish. For the main course, the steak was superb—super soft, incredibly tender, and cooked to absolute perfection. It practically melted in my mouth! The mocktails are wonderfully quenched thirsting and refreshing, making for a sophisticated pairing with the meal. Beyond the incredible food, the service is simply top notch. Attentive, professional, and knowledgeable, the staff enhanced the entire dining experience. If you are looking for a flawless fine dining Italian meal in Chicago, Tre-dita is an absolute must-visit. Five stars without hesitation!

Such a wonderful evening at Tre Dita. The food was spectacular and the wait staff was very attentive and welcoming. Anytime you have great food and amazing staff it's going to be an awesome experience. I also thought it was incredibly cool to watch them making the pasta in house, very unique experience. Will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed Tre Dita after a long day of touristing. Although we were still dressed as tourists, we were welcomed in and had a great table overlooking the skyline. The dinners were excellent with fresh hand-made pasta (you can see them making it as you come in) with nice variety to the menu. The only little glitch was our server who didn't really seem he wanted to be there. We didn't hear about the specials and we had a tough time flagging him down for a glass of wine. I don't think this is a problem with the whole of Tre Dita as we saw other tables receiving excellent attentive service, just not our table. Yes, it is expensive but we thought considering the quality of the food and the fantastic atmosphere, a good value.

An absolutely amazing experiance. We went to Tre dita to celebrate our wedding anniversary and enjoyed every minute of it. Mark was a gem of a host. The food was delicious . The view adds to the ambiance of the place .The steak was perfectly seasoned and just melted in your mouth . My Branzino was perfectly charred and yummy.Tiramisu and pistachio cake were so yum.👍👍

This is a bit of a delayed review.. but I needed some time to process this experience. I had heard a lot about Tre Dita and figured it was finally time to check it out. My partner and I first started with the Schiacciata Bianca. Some of the best bread I have ever had. Then we followed this up with 2 pasta: Linguine al Limone and Pici Cacio e Pepe. Both dish brought incredible depths of flavor and clearly cooked by chefs that know what they are doing. Additionally, we order the Tagliata di Manzo which was also cooked to perfection. Then to wrap it all up we ordered the dessert (I cannot remember the name of it). Overall, this was a great experience with great service and don’t be scared to sit in the bar area! We will be back!

Celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday at Tre Dita. We ordered the Trofie al Pesto, Tagliatelle al Ragu, and NY Strip steak. Pastas melt in your mouth, I’ll be thinking about this meal for a while! Service and ambience were great!

Very special restaurant in Chicago. I’ve come twice. I took my mom here for Christmas. Everything is delicious. The 40 ft windows are breathtaking. We ate early and enjoyed the daytime view turn into evening which was magical. The holiday decorations were stunning and service was top notch. I would budget $150 per person

Tre Dita exceeded all our expectations. We had the bruschetta classica, rigatoncini all’arrabbiata, New York strip, and scottadita di agnello, Everything was delicious. Most importantly service was the best, in particular the staff setting up and cleaning up our tables. Our waiter Tristan L was wonderful and had an amazing sense of humor which made our experience even better. Thanks everyone for going on and beyond. Highly recommend.

From the moment we walked in, got our tables & were sat, everything here was so excellent. For starters, we had some focacia which was so divine. The mains were clearly the star of the show , we had the sword fish & steak and every bite of that was made with love. The pistachio cocktail is a fave, came highly recommended by the waiter & didn’t disappoint at all (warning it’s stronger & more potent than it looks 🤣) 10/10 experience.

We had an exceptional experience! The service and ambiance were top-notch. Our server, Agnes, was knowledgeable and thoughtful, expertly guiding us through the menu. A highlight was her mention that the Filet Mignon and Lamb Chops are Zabiha Halal, which was a big plus for us. The food was visually stunning and delicious. We celebrated a friend's birthday and the restaurant exceeded expectations. With reservations, minimal wait times, and convenient valet parking, it was a seamless and enjoyable evening.

My wife and I finally made it to Tre Dita, and it lived up to the anticipation. The restaurant is tucked inside an easy-to-find building, and the intimate green-accented dining room creates a warm, sophisticated vibe — right up my alley. We started with the Schiacciata Rossa — focaccia toscana with salsa di pomodoro, herbs, and extra virgin olive oil. It was fresh, aromatic, and generously topped — simple but done right. Next came the Polpette di Brasato, braised beef short rib meatballs with pecorino dolce. Flavor-wise, solid. But texture-wise, just a little too dry. Not a dealbreaker, but the weakest dish of the night. Then came the Gnudi di Spinaci, a revelation. I’d never had gnudi before, but this dish — heirloom spinach, morel mushrooms, parmigiano fonduta — stole the show. Perfectly balanced, rich, and delicate all at once. The Tagliata di Manzo (8oz prime ribeye cap) followed — an absolute standout. The cut, the seasoning, the preparation — flawless. It paired perfectly with my favorite wine, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino, Villa Poggio Salvi, which was, thankfully, every bit as elegant as expected. We ended with the Tre Dita Gattò, a decadent devil’s food dessert with fleur de cao mousse, amaretto, and dark cherry. Beautifully plated and rich without being heavy — the ideal close. Overall, Evan Funke’s reputation holds true. If you go, focus on the pastas and steak — skip the extras and savor the craft. Tre Dita is a welcome addition to Chicago’s fine dining scene, and we’ll definitely be back

Wow! Can I give this a six star? The next level hospitality, the window into the kitchen to see the hand made pasta, the greeting with a shot to celebrate our occasion! Everything was exactly what you would expect of 1st class dining! I would suggest trying add much pasta as you can! We also got the steak which was cooked to perfection!

The best pasta I had, hands down. Excellent service from the time we entered the door. An amazing view of the city of Chicago.

Phenomenal food, atmosphere, service, and overall experience. The squash is my favorite dish ever. The steak was cooked incredibly well and by far one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The pasta is delicious. Everything about this place is impeccable

Stunningly beautiful! The staff are exceptionally, exceptional! Levi's was our server and was very professional yet down to earth. He connected with us easily and made us feel like we were special. I ordered the anchovies, and I asked, somehow they were. He responded, he loves them, and you can spread them on the crusty bread, or you can eat them directly, like he said he has done. The food was amazing! This is our first time here, and i'm sure we'll be back. Next time, we will go for the dining room which has soaring ceilings and looks extremely elegant. Thanks Lettuce Group for all you do. Perfection!

My husband and I now live in Singapore and we are not strangers to fabulous restaurants that serve really very good food with excellent service. We did enjoy our dining with family here at Tre Dita. Almost everything was very good. From.drinks, food, ambience and service. Only two things I thought that can be adjusted, the sourness in the salad dressing and saltiness in the bread. Although that is just my personal opinion and some other people may liked them. We had the lamb chops, tenderloin steak, pasta, grilled seanass, dessert, wine, cocktails and gin and tonic, all were very good. The staff were wonderful. Thank you!

Headline: vibes and ambiance are amazing as you would expect from the pictures, food is better than I expected from the reviews Details: I had VERY HIGH expectations for the space given the pictures I’d seen and how much everyone was recommending it. I did however also see that the food was not as good as some other places around town, so I was expecting a lackluster culinary experience HOWEVER: the food was amazing. Started with a lovely sweet vermouth aperitif (complimentary, which was a great surprise), then got wine / cocktails which were fine (pricey but expected). For food: got the focaccia rossa, stuffed squash flowers, rigatoncini, and lamb chops, and tiramisu. It was all phenomenal. Really great presentation, flavors, service. Ambiance was great: was not loud, music was ambient, the crowd was great too. Good distance between other tables so you’re not too close but you’re close enough to see others food and comment on it together (seems like everyone wanted everything because it all looked and tasted great). Portions were bigger than expected and we definitely left with enough food for at least one person to have another meal. Would definitely come back for a special occasion. I could only get a 5pm rezzie so it was relatively daylight the whole time but even then the ambiance and view is great.

We enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Tre Dita as we did Miru two years ago. It was a good night but not the top of the game food we expected. The service was really great. Our waiter was conversational and friendly but not overbearing. He recognized the anniversary and brought a small budino with a candle. He kept things moving at a reasonable pace. The room is lovely. The building architect must have really put some thought into the restaurant multi story space. The bar is cool, people told us it was a better vibe but I was really happy to be in the restaurant for dinner. When I booked the table I had a choice, not sure why the one review says a 2-top is directed to the bar, maybe that was all that was left. Since we arrived early we had a drink at the bar and I highly recommend the signature St Regis Bloody Mary, the 1871. Shout out to Evanston’s FEW spirits distillery. The vibe at the bar was nice, we talked to our neighbors and the bartenders and the time until our table was ready passed quickly. For dinner we had the focccacia, which is a bit pretentious served on a cake stand but okay. The panzanella salad was perfect. The squash blossoms needed a little more flavor to the filling but were prepared with the right amount of bite and crispiness. The waiter emphasized the pastas being made in house, so we ordered two. The gnudi was not that special, just ravioli in a different shape. The oxtail ragu … didn’t have enough pasta in the dish. The tiramisu was great as it should be for $19. As a lettuce overall we enjoyed the night. But would we hurry back? Undecided.

From the moment we walked into Tre Dita, we felt genuinely welcomed. Every employee made us feel like valued guests, not just another table to turn. That level of hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Our server started us off with a complimentary bite—an old-school touch that immediately stood out. He went above and beyond to thoughtfully walk us through the menu, carefully addressing allergy concerns and offering guidance with genuine care. The wine list was exceptional, with selections that perfectly complemented the meal. The highlight, though, was the pasta. Made fresh daily in the restaurant’s open pasta lab, you could truly taste the craftsmanship. The texture was spot on—perfectly al dente with that ideal chew. We ordered the PICI CACIO E PEPE and the TROFIE AL PESTO, and both dishes were, without exaggeration, the best pastas we have ever had. We ended the meal with the TORTA ALL'OLIO D'OLIVA, which was light and delicate with a wonderful flavor. Service was seamless—attentive without being intrusive, thoughtful without ever making us feel rushed. Every need was met effortlessly, which allowed us to simply relax and enjoy the experience. This was one of the most delightful dining experiences we have had in recent memory, and Tre Dita has set a new bar for us. We will absolutely be back—if not for Chicago, then for this restaurant alone.

We loved this place! Having enjoyed a private event here before, we had to come back and try it by ourselves. Instead of trying to choose from an amazing list of entrees, we had the waiter make a few recommendations. He described to us nearly the whole list. 🤣 That tells you, there's nothing bad on it. We started with the Buratta & Squash blossoms to start. Each was so light and flavorful. The foccacia was light & crispy, I made sure to save some to dip in the Pesto sauce later. For entrees we finally picked the Pesto and the dish of the day. Such amazing flavors! Chef Evan Funke's classic Italian cooking has struck a high here. His love letter to Tuscany had us from the moment we sat down. Add this experience to your list when coming to Chicago!

Tre Dita completely delivered. The fiori di zucca (stuffed squash blossoms) were a standout—crispy, delicate, and easily one of the best appetizers we’ve had in the city. The atmosphere was stylish but comfortable, and the service was friendly, attentive, and paced just right. A memorable experience from start to finish.

We ate in the bar which was lovely, however if you can secure a reservation in the restaurant I would recommend that as the setting looks even more fabulous! Lovely service, delicious pasta and a reasonable bill for such a “fancy” place. I would definitely recommend!

Absolutely worth it! There’s no parking available, and you’ll definitely need a reservation, but once you’re in, the experience is seamless—no wait at all upon arrival. The service was outstanding: attentive, kind, helpful, and incredibly patient. Every dish was delicious—the meatballs were tender and juicy, the pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the drinks were top-tier. The espresso martini was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic dinner at Tre Dita. The service was attentive, the ambiance was refined, and the views of the city were stunning. Every dish we tried was full of flavor, especially the basil pasta it was a standout. The handmade pastas were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the open kitchen added a fun, interactive touch to the experience. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and a pistachio dessert that was rich, nutty, and beautifully presented a perfect ending to the meal. Highly recommend for a special night out in Chicago!

Agnes was our server and she was wonderful. It was very easy to make reservations just an hour before we went to dinner. They gave us a nice private table in the corner because it was our wedding anniversary. We would definitely go back.

My experience at Tre Dita was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone for the evening. Megan was an absolute gem. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and carried herself with such warmth and professionalism that we felt instantly welcomed. The food was a masterclass in Italian cuisine. The lamb was cooked to perfection tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The squash blossoms were delicate and flavorful, truly melting in your mouth. Every bite of handmade pasta was a testament to the skill and care that goes into Tre Dita’s culinary offerings. The beverages were just as impressive. Both the Old Fashioned and the wine selection were top-notch, expertly crafted, and paired to enhance the meal. As for the ambiance, simply breathtaking. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet inviting, and the décor struck the perfect balance between modern elegance and classic charm. I recommend Tre Dita without hesitation, whether you're planning a special celebration or simply want to treat yourself to an outstanding meal. It’s a place where every detail is considered, and every guest is treated to a truly memorable experience. @TreDitaRestaurant

We had the most amazing anniversary dinner at Tre Dita, and Bekka F truly made the night unforgettable. From the moment we were seated, her service was warm, attentive, and thoughtful. She checked in on us just the right amount and made us feel genuinely cared for all evening. The food was incredible, and the view of the city was absolutely perfect—but what really touched us was the sweet anniversary dessert she surprised us with. It was such a special gesture and the perfect way to end the night. Thank you, Bekka, for helping make our anniversary so memorable. ♥️

The atmosphere and service is outstanding. Great view of Chicago and a lively vibe. Service was on top of it mostly but certainly long periods with no one checking in. Food was good. Pasta a little undergone, spicy pasta sauce was great. Lasagna special was really heavy but delicious. Short rib meatballs were dry. Focaccia was light and airy with delicious mix of salt and rosemary.

My mom and I had a lovely evening dining at Tre Dita. We were hotel guests and requested reservations ahead of time. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and we were glad to have a table by the window. The service was A+ and they really made my mom feel special (as she was celebrating a special occasion). We wanted to try so many things on the many but wanted to be cautious and not order too much food. Here are my thoughts on everything that we tried! Fiori di Zucca (squash blossoms): So delicate and yummy! Schiacciata Bianca (focaccia bread): Soft, warm and delicious. I wanted to order a 2nd! Polpette di Brasato (meatballs): Delicious! Again, I wanted to order a 2nd but my belly was getting full. Cacio de Pepe: I would have preferred a smaller pasta and more cheese/pepper flavor, but it was still a good dish. Gnudi di Spinaci: Oh my, so soft and flavorful! I think this was my favorite dish. Dolce Al Pistacchio: Surprisingly good pistachio cake!! Tiramisu Classico: Whoa! This was amazing and so balanced. I typically don’t like tiramisu, but this changed my mind. Very well done!

It’s no exaggeration to say that Tre Dita may have the most stunning dining room in Chicago. The tall ceiling and soaring windows are nothing short of breathtaking. Though only on the second floor of the St. Regis, the view from Tre Dita is spectacular especially during sunsets. I have to say there isn’t a bad seat in the house. As evening falls, the glow of the lights softens and bathes the room with a warm, romantic atmosphere that feels almost timeless. The food, while secondary to the spectacle of the space, is still good. My friend said the fiori di zucca was the best he had had outside of Italy. The bruschetta fegatini di pollo paired silky, umami chicken liver mousse with a sweet cipolline in agrodolce. This delightful combination would have been heavenly with some toasted sourdough or a softer/thicker bread but instead it came with rock-hard rusks that were jarring to chew. Likely this choice was because the small portion size of the spread would have looked strikingly disproportionate with a thicker bread. Linguine al limone was cooked to al dente perfection with a bright, balanced sauce. The filet mignon was cooked just right and incredibly tender. Kept simple with salt, pepper, and a nice char, the spotlight was fully on the beef itself. Unfortunately, the underside of the steak was overly charred, leaving such an acrid bitterness I had to trim away. Tre Dita is a restaurant where the atmosphere outshines the kitchen but that’s more a testament to the jaw-dropping view than a knock on the food. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more stunning setting for dinner in Chicago. Come for the space and you'll also eat well while you're at it.

Incredible pasta. Must try the lemon linguini. Ordered the porterhouse and personally I was dissapointed with how chewy the New York strip was. The filet portion was much better. Always have been a filet type anyways. Cocktails are good, coffee was good. The cocholate cake dessert is a must try. I was very pleased with our waiter who was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with any questions and recommendations.

For a romantic date, or a work trip night out, this place is poised to impress. Beautifully plated dishes and the ambiance that comes from the St. Regis pairing, Tre Dita is a beautiful experience. Burrata was delicious and fresh. Be prepared to drop some cash on this night out, but you will leave happy.

The dining room alone made this night at Tre Dita magical. But let’s talk food. Skip the drinks and pastas, their chef works overtime to make their meats perfect. Don’t underestimate their appetizers—the golden squash blossoms and pillowy sea salt topped focaccia is paired perfectly with a cute date and witty flirting.

This place is an experience worth going to. (For what it’s worth it’s easy to get street parking right in front of the restaurant so don’t go to a garage). We got the afternoon tea experience here, and it was a multi course meal that left us feeling pretty satiated by the end. We really wanted to order what they were famous for - the focaccia and a pasta (cacio e Pepe). That wasn’t on the pre fixed experience menu and we had to explicitly ask for the real menu, which was a little slimy. We should have just been able to order off the real menu. Everything we had was a hit - we enjoyed every small bite we had. The Tre and Dita cocktails were pretty good but a notch or two lower than other restaurants in the city. All in all, I would come back to try the dinner menu and/or the focaccia bread and pasta again, but I would save this place for more of a special occasion.

A Luxurious Setting That Fell Just Short of the Flavor This restaurant is undeniably beautiful--polished, luxurious, and every bit the "five-star experience" when it comes to ambiance. From the plush interiors to the attentive service, it's clear no detail was overlooked... except, perhaps, a few on the plate. Let's start with the sticker shock: my non-alcoholic beverage--a blueberry, mint, and club soda combo--was $16. For that price, I expected more depth or a lower price. As for the food, most dishes were good. The pasta ofterings were a standout--especially the Linguini al Limone, which struck a perfect balance between rich and bright. The Fiori di Zucca (stuffed squash blossoms) were another highlight. Though fried, they were delicately done, with a crisp coating that gave way to flavorful, creamy stuffing. I'd absolutely recommend them. Another favorite, the Insalata de Cicoria. On the other hand, some dishes didn't quite live up to the luxe setting. The bruschetta, while clearly made with quality ingredients--peeled tomatoes, EVOO--was bland and forgettable. The New York strip we ordered medium came out overcooked, which was a letdown, especially at this price point. None of the sides were particularly memorable either; the Patate Fritte were passable, but didn't add much to the meal. Overall, this is a restaurant that dazzles on the surface and is very hyped, but doesn't consistently deliver on the culinary front. With so many excellent Italian spots in Chicago offering exceptional food at a similar price point, I wouldn't return. It's the kind of place that's great for a special occasion once--but next time, I'll opt for a spot where the flavors are as bold as the décor.

Tre Dita and Bar Tre Dita are located inside the St Regis Hotel tower. They are on the 2nd floor, while another restaurant named Miru (serving Japanese food) is on the 11th floor. I visit Miru last year for Restaurant Week and, ever since then, have wanted to try Tre Dita. So for Restaurant Week this year, I went. I don’t think you should come here for Restaurant Week, because management at Tre Dita has broken the sacred spirit of Restaurant Week. They make it very clear that they care less about providing a nice night out and more for making money off of you. First, the main dining room is not participating in Restaurant Week, only the bar and lounge. So be careful if you place a reservation. Second, I overheard our waiter, Tristan, tell another table that management only wants their waiters to hand the Restaurant Week menu to those who specifically ask for it because they would rather you order off the regular menu so you spend more. Third, Tre Dita kept all their expensive proteins off the Restaurant Week menu. Fourth, they are transparent that only the pasta course is a regular portion, while they scaled down the portions for the other courses. Fifth, they make the table share course 1 and 4. So let’s do some quick math. The courses cost = $11 + $39 + $28 + $14 =$92.00. And you think you are getting a great value. But since you share course 1 and 4. And since they give you smaller portions of the courses, other than the pasta course, let’s redo the math accordingly = $6 + $20 + $28 + $7 =$61.00. Management at Tre Dita has calculated exactly how to give you your $60 Restaurant Week dinner without giving you a penny extra! What is even worse is that your service is based on how big a money sign you look to them. Order a couple of pricy cocktails suddenly you get better service. We stuck with tap water and the Restaurant Week menu and Tristan provided adequate service. But the couple next to us ordered cocktails and he spent time going over the menu (they came for Restaurant Week) in detail and throwing in some charm and jokes. But I am conflicted because Tre Dita has some really good food. They do the classics well. For Restaurant Week the table shares a focaccia loaf which is warm, airy, and flavorful. You get a choice for course 2. Bufala and prosciutto vs a beet salad. My date and I agreed the beet salad was the better dish. If you like beets and vegetables, you will like this dish, because their natural flavors pop here and the whole dish tastes really fresh. You get a choice for course 3 but my date and I ordered the same pasta dish - Rigatocini alla Genovese. You can tell with this dish that Tre Dita makes their pasta daily. And the short rib ragu is amazing! The table has to share dessert. We got the pistachios gelato praline. Our waiter tells us the drizzle is also pistachios, but it tastes like peanut butter (which really works for this dish). Tre Dita, on its website menu, still had listed their grapefruit sorbet, but at the last minute changed that choice to lemon-almond cookies. But in all transparency, our waiter brought us out the grapefruit sorbet as a surprise. In summary, Tre Dita is not a bad restaurant. They have some amazing food and I am sure you could have a very pleasant night out. It is annoying that they chose to participate in Restaurant Week, then go against its spirit of providing a nice night out at a reasonable cost and great value. So I would not recommend Tre Dita for Restaurant Week. Instead, make reservations to Miru on the 11th floor. It was my favorite restaurant I tried last year for Restaurant Week and they have stunning panoramic views of the city up there that I am sure Tre Dita is jealous about.

I may be the only one to think Tre Dita didn’t live up to the expectation I had. Going into dinner, I was expecting a great meal based on what I’ve heard. This new Lettuce Entertain You spot may be my least favorite of theirs. I’d go back to give it another shot and for the overall ambiance. There’s a great list of Italian wines. The food was fine but nothing out of the ordinary to knock my socks off. It’s Italian, and out of the overwhelming number of Italian restaurants we have in Chicago, I’d go elsewhere for food.

Spent the day after Valentines Day at Tre Dita after it came highly recommended and highly reviewed/rated. Immediately greeted by the hostess which did not have a very warm or pleasant greeting. The glaring and snooty looks we received left us feeling very uncomfortable. Our server however was very pleasant and accommodating. Started with the rosemary focaccia and the blue prawns in salsa verde. The bread was fresh and well salted. The prawns were very fresh, but the flavors were not very bold. Ordered the spinach and mushroom pasta and the arrabbiata pasta. Spinach and mushroom pasta was very creamy and well flavored with a smooth texture. The arrabbiata was a decent portion with well cooked noodles, but the flavor of the sauce was less than impressive. It had a kick, but it came with a very off putting after taste that made it hard to want to continue eating. We did order two non alcoholic cocktails which were pleasant. However the prices of cocktails were outlandish in my opinion and did not stand out for the price point they were sold at. The ambiance of the restaurant does have an appeal as it overlooks navy pier and the lake. It was a fine meal, but nothing that leaves you wanting to come again or memorable. For the price point over all, and what is offered, I would recommend visiting other Italian locations in the city.

I’d rate this restaurant as 'average' at best. While the environment and setting are beautiful, the food didn't quite live up to the atmosphere; both the chicken and pasta were noticeably salty. My biggest disappointment was the $50 cake-cutting fee for my wife’s birthday. Despite the high price, the staff didn't actually cut the cake—they simply placed it on a plate and charged us the full fee just to eat it there. It feels more like a place to 'be seen' than a place to enjoy a quality meal. Probably wouldn't return.

I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, as I had heard nothing but wonderful things about the food, the views, and the service. In many ways, those expectations were met. The food was delicious, and the service provided by our waiter, bussers, and the manager was top-notch. Unfortunately, the reason for this very negative review is our experience with the hostess staff at the front. My wife and I felt we were treated differently and unfairly by the three hostesses working that evening. I cannot say with certainty whether it was due to our age, our Asian race, or our appearance, but we were left with a deeply unsettling feeling of being prejudged. I understand that this restaurant is extremely popular and was fully booked, even on a Monday night. However, from the moment we arrived, there were concerning signs. Our menus were handed to a busser to seat us, and it felt as though the hostesses were reluctant to do so themselves. We were seated at a wobbly table that appeared out of place in the floor plan, positioned directly by the entrance, adjacent to Christmas garland décor, and in the midst of constant foot traffic. Feeling uncomfortable, I politely asked our busser whether it was possible to be seated at an empty table across the room. After checking, we were told that the table was reserved for a party of four and that there were no available tables in the main dining area. Reluctantly, we agreed to remain at the original table. As dinner service began, our waiter—who was very kind and professional—reviewed the menu and took our order. Shortly thereafter, I noticed again that the table was unstable and asked if it could be fixed so we could dine comfortably. While waiting for assistance, I observed one of the hostesses escorting guests into the main dining area. To my surprise, the table we had been told was reserved for four guests was then seated with a party of two. At that point, I requested to speak with the manager. He was extremely gracious, understanding, and promptly remedied the situation. In fact, every staff member we interacted with was respectful and professional, with the exception of the hostess staff. However, by the time we were reseated at a more appropriate table among the general dining area, the atmosphere had noticeably shifted. It felt as though the entire staff was walking on eggshells, and even our new waiter—who was equally courteous—appeared cautious. I had no desire to cause a scene. I simply wanted to move past the incident and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. For anyone who has experienced prejudice, it is an incredibly unsettling and painful feeling—to not be treated fairly or with the same respect afforded to others. While I genuinely enjoyed the food and appreciated the efforts of the manager and service staff to correct the situation, the tone set by the hostess staff that evening had a lasting impact on our experience. I had every intention of ordering another pasta dish—the handmade pasta was excellent—and dessert as well. However, after feeling sufficiently patronized, I chose to finish only what I had ordered and leave it at that. I truly wish I had been able to speak directly with the hostesses to understand why we were treated differently from other guests dining that evening. I sincerely hope future diners do not experience the same unfair treatment we encountered. Prejudice and unequal treatment are no laughing matter. Thank you for taking the time to read and understand my review.

I had previously enjoyed dining at Tre Dita, which makes this recent experience even more disappointing. I had come with friends to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately the evening was defined by slow, disorganized service and a lack of hospitality. Although we had a reservation, we were seated on the balcony rather than in the main dining area, which already felt like a downgrade from prior visits. After being seated, it took approximately 20 minutes just to be greeted, and nearly 40 minutes before our first order was taken- an unusually long delay for any restaurant, especially one positioned as a higher-end dining experience. The biggest issue was how the food was served. Our dishes arrived in staggered intervals of about 5–10 minutes between each person’s plate. In professional restaurant service, meals at the same table are typically delivered together so guests can dine collectively. Because of the delays, some dishes were already cold by the time everyone had received their food, which significantly impacted the experience. Throughout the evening we were barely checked on, and overall the service felt inattentive and uncoordinated. We spoke with an assistant manager during the visit and were told to follow up, but no one returned to check on us before we left. Unfortunately, the long delays disrupted our plans for the rest of the evening, affected parking arrangements we had already paid for, and took away from what should have been a special birthday celebration. We ultimately chose not to order dessert because the experience had become frustrating rather than enjoyable. I had previously liked Tre Dita and truly enjoyed the food in visits prior- but am not sure what has happened. I hope they improve their service standards, because based on this visit, the experience does not meet expectations.
