One of our all-time favorites. This is one of the Cincinnati stops that we must make whenever we are back in town. The food and the service are always reliably on point, and their margaritas are fantastic. We love the empanadas, pork or chicken. There is a large onsite parking lot, and an outdoor seating area if you like. Highly Recommended
Great food! Amazing margaritas (ask for it half & half) Staff was polite and smiling. Made us feel welcome.
Best food hands down, well worth the price I don't mind to pay for good food and absolutely excellent service. The waitress recommended the New York strip I have to say it was a very good recommendation. My dad got lamb chops and the pork chop both by far the best we've ever had and the mushrooms out of this world I must try!
The best steak I have had in a long time. Service was theeee best ever.
Great place to satisfy your Tex-Mex cravings. Service is excellent and they have good variety of local IPAs.
Best steakhouse on the East side of town! Mmmm! The porkchop is excellent! The ribeye is the best steak I've ever eaten! The mud pie for dessert is excellent. Apparently they are also lauded for their Tex Mex too. However, I can't help but order some chops or the ribeye whenever I eat here! Excellent tortilla chips and salsa too! My wife gets the steak burrito. I can speak for their guacamole- better than Chipotle! Kind of expensive, but this is a steakhouse so it can be expected. The mashed potatoes are amazing. The Texas toast is amazing. The mushrooms are freaking amazing! The onion straws are amazing too. Mmm mmmmm
I’ve lived near this restaurant for six years and always marveled at how packed it is, but had never tried it until today. The service was great and the stuffed pepper was fantastic. In fact, I think it was best stuffed pepper I’ve ever had! The chips and salsa were also excellent. We will definitely be back.
I can honestly say everything really was wonderful, but the atmosphere just seemed a little off. Almost like the lights were a little brighter and the romantic atmosphere just was not there. The service was wonderful and the food was great. Just seemed a little pricey for something that just got a little more casual . My husband had a ribeye with Mac and cheese It seems like they may have changed it a little, I had a fillet and potato both of us had wedge, salads, bottle of wine and several beers. Will try it again Maybe we were just sitting in a busy area. I'll ask for a booth and a corner next time.
I love this place, food is great, service is great. Ask for Stephanie, she is wonderful, friendly and very attentive.
El Coyote is our ‘go to’ when we can’t decide where to go because it consistently delivers great food, outstanding service, and a comfortable atmosphere. The grilled pork chops are amazing, charred and tender with great flavor. Fajita salad, sour cream enchiladas, mashed potatoes, Tex mex macaroni, margaritas. So many great options.
Weve been going to El Coyote sonc probably 1991, when we were literally in baby carriers. Ill be honest, ael Coyote is very nostalgic and will always be apart of us. We stopped going for several years because of the rude regulars at rhe bar and to be honest, flthe food went to complete crap. We decided to give it a go 2-3 weeks ago and their new GM has changed el coyote for the good! We decided to go again last night and the food was judt as amazing as it was a few weeks ago. Boyfriend got the filet abd i got the steip, of course with their famous mashed potatoes, whoch are back to perfection!
I love the El Coyote! It has been consistent for decades and has some of the best pork chops in Cincinnati. Thanks for the years of good dinners.
I have been going here for years. Took my family there last night and was very disappointed in the service we received. There was 12 of us in our party and when our dinners came out my daughters steak was not on the trays. Her steak came out 20 minuets later and not one manager came over and said anything about it. I have always talked highly of this place because i have always had a great experience hope this is not a sign of how this is going to be in the future.
Came here last night for the first time after my son's graduation. Food and service were excellent. Our server (Reilly I think) was so great and patient with a couple of the members of my party that don't get out much! Will definitely be back.
We had our company Christmas party here and it was fantastic! All of our employees had a fun time and the food was great. Servers Nathan and Holly were so attentive and made the night extra special. Make sure you get the chocolate pecan pie :)
We always like this place, but thiscwas the first timecmy wife tried the steak. She loved it and said its comparable to Ruby's. I got the ribs, and they were decent. I'm pretty particular on those, so I'd have preferred some of the sauce baked and caramelized a bit rather than just slop it on after cooking. Still good, though. Overall, a good night. It always is.
The ribeye and onion straws that come with it were great. The grilled toast wasn't my favorite, it needs more flavor (garlic and butter would help) besides tasting like charred bread. We shared a few appetizers, 2 of which had their house made chorizo. It was good but really didnt give me a chorizo feeling. More like ground pork with some taco seasoning. Once again it wasn't bad just not what I expected when I read chorizo. I will also add the pricing is a touch on the expensive side for what we ordered. Our bill for 2 totaled over $167. This included 2 steak dinners, 1 appetizer, 1 iced tea, 1 beer and included the mandatory 20% tip for a large group.
Nathan is the best server! We really enjoyed him this evening, he was so fantastic and so kind. Such a great guy!
We have been to many steak houses. This resturant has the best steaks, no exceptions. The only improvement I would suggest, is to add some padding to the bench seats.
We had 16 16 in our party. We were taking care of very well and enjoyed our evening. The food was delicious
The food was great with huge portions. Our server was friendly, quick and very knowledgeable. Loved it!
Excellent food, same feel and taste of Ohio legacy nice family dining excellent Steak and Chops
Best food in the area! Great place to meet friends, celebrate big events, or just have a great dinner with a loved one.
A solid 4 from this first-time diner. My wife had been there plenty of times before we met but hadn’t been back since our marriage. She was concerned that it wouldn’t be her old favorite but she wasn’t disappointed and neither was I. I was thinking “Mexican” before I arrived but I was surprised to see steaks and pork chops front and center. There were definite threads of Mexican but a little more “Tex” than. “Mex” from my perspective. I ordered a ribeye and a Caesar salad and my wife ordered a pork chop with mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. Both meals came with onion straws which were a welcome addition to our plates. Her pork chop was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. One of the best chops I’ve ever had. She loved the mashed which had plenty of butter and the perfect amount of salt. I like a thicker mash but it was definitely tasty. The pasta in her mac was over-cooked for my liking and tasted like a Velveeto and rotel-based sauce which was ok but I expected a little more. My ribeye was perfectly seasoned and properly cooked - no complaints. The Caesar salad had a good anchovy kiss to it and the banana pudding we took home for dessert got two thumbs down from my wife and I because of the heavy imitation banana flavoring (the whipped cream broke as well - try their carrot cake instead). Service was great too. All in all an experience worth repeating again.
LarderRoom...Pitchers of Margaritas, 16oz Ribeye Steaks, Friends & Birthday Celebrations! What a great place to enjoy time with family and friends over a delicious meal. The steak was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Scrumptious thick pork chops.
My boyfriend and I went here on date night which happened to be the first big snowstorm it was very cozy being able to watch the snowfall out the windows and sitting by the fire. The decor is adorable I loved it. The food was very good and their margaritas were some of the best. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, she was an older lady with short hair and glasses she had been working there for a very long time 20 years I believe I over heard. She was a doll and really made our night out great. It was a little pricey but we used a gift card but definitely will only go back on special occasions.
Desire was a great person for taking care of my father and me. We both ordered chimi's with beans and rice. Chimi's were good, the beans and rice were presentable. Thank you Desire!
We dine here occasionally as it’s convenient to our location. The margaritas are fantastic. We typically share a meal; enchiladas, fajitas or quesadillas. Most dinners come with two sides. The mashed potatoes are really good. The chorizo stuffed avocado is really good. We mostly come for the margs.
We love this place. They have reduced the menu so it is less overwhelming. I had the fajitas. Very large portions so plenty to take home. They make a great margarita. In business for 41 years. A tradition on the East Side of Cincinnati.
As a 30+ year patron I was surprised at the changes since I was last there. The ambiance was much better before the gray paint job. I miss the old Mac n cheese white cheese recipe and the price increases were a bit much. This was the place we celebrated every birthday and special occasion. Glad I have those good memories.
Really enjoyed my birthday here. The staff was wonderful and the food was very good. It would be 5 star but several of the items ranged super salty to over salted. You could tell they food was great, just a heavy handed cook or two in the back held it back. Again, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to another day. I loved my Ribeye and wife got the pork chops. Great! Salsa is very tasty with a touch of heat. Banana Cream Pie is delicious!
Food and service was great. The Christmas decorations were very festive.
Told them we had a birthday on the reservation. The restaurant was not busy. We were sat next to the waiters stand and got to hear all the gossip. Unfortunately, the steak was tough to cut and forgotten was the shrimp add on and that we had a birthday. I was so looking forward to eating here for a special occasion and was very disappointed for the price point.
I had a pork chop and a loaded baked potato. Pork chop was good, but didn't meet my expectation - chops are supposed to be their specialty. Potato was dry. Tiny butter packs were a disappointment. Everything is expensive. It does not seem worth the money to me.
I had $30 fajitas with chicken and steak and it wasn’t worth the price at all. My glass sat empty for a while and the side of queso I ordered was a large that costed as much as an appetizer (didn’t ask me which size either).
Very disappointed at service and menu options. If you are out of menu items, specially on a Saturday night, say so! Do not have us wasting our time looking at the menu only to tell us you are out of the seafood mix at 7:30. We continue to look at the menu for another option which is prime rib only to be told once again that they are out. Really? This should be mentioned when we sat down. Ended up with overcooked coconut shrimp, should never have even been brought out that way, so over browned fried shrimp with some inedible weird sauce that tasted “off”. The baked potato was wrapped in foil, not hot and so wet from steaming in foil. The only good thing good was the margarita but we came for dinner, not drinks. Would not waste our money going there again.
If you like salty foods, you’ll love this place. If you’re on a sodium reduced diet, avoid it. Food would be great without so much salt, so not sure why they dump so much on every serving. Service is great! Atmosphere is okay, cold inside, flat draft beer and loud music.
I'd say it's alright. The food was decent, I had the ribeye with a side of sweet potatoes.... Sweet potatoes here come with an assortment of things in it that aren't labeled on the menu. The server forgot my silverware when I sat down, also forgot my appetizer (potato soup) and also forgot to bring a steak knife.... When main course came out she originally brought macaroni instead of the Sweet potato I had ordered. Parking is on a massive hill.
This place used to be awesome but now, service is bad and food is average. Good atmosphere though. Way too expensive to be treated this poorly.
Me and my fiancé went here last night for date night we really enjoy trying new places so we thought we would give this one a try. While waiting for a table in the patio area we order drinks a sex on the beach and frozen margarita handed the bartender a $20 and only got $2.50 back! Very over priced but the bartender was extremely nice so we brushed this off. Waited 5 mins and our table was ready for us. As we walked through the restaurant I could not help but notice how very outdated it was several steps you must go up and down and the floor was gross food on it stained and just nasty. As we sat outside we order more drinks draft beer and strawberry margarita (which once I got the bill were $4 and $4.25) and we order an appetizer dip which had cheese mash potatoes and shredded pork in it. The appetizer is big enough to feed 4 people easy but was not to bad we both enjoyed it however the spoon given to us for the appetizer was dirty and had food caked on it from previous use. We had the spoon swapped out and our waitress did not even say sorry for the inconvenience which would of been nice. Our waitress then brought us salsa and chips, the chips were very salty and the salsa was too chunky not to mention had some spice at the end (beware if you don’t like hot peppers). We also ordered dinner my fiancé ordered pork chops with bell pepper and Mac and cheese, baked potato served with Texas toast and onion straw. I ordered pork chops with ribs Mac n cheese and salad also served with onion straws and Texas toast. The only reason I give this restaurant a 2 is because of the pork chops which were beyond amazing! Juicy thick and tender the pork chops are delicious! However the rib was tender but no flavor the bbq sauce used on top was gross. Mac and cheese was horrible big noodles and tons of processed cheese with a few peppers in the mix I took 2 bites and left it. The salad was decent nothing fancy however the croutons were soft and stale I believe they were old and been around for a while. Baked potato came wrapped in foil not cut or buttered they just hand u cups of butter. The worse and most disappointing thing on the whole plate was the toast... it literally was a slice of white bread grilled on each side and thrown on a plate. No season not even butter just stale burnt bread. Overall our meal was $80 for 2 great pork chops and a decent appetizer that’s it. If we ever come back we will only order pork chops nothing else. Way over priced for what this place has to offer!
Ordered entrees, a dessert and drink. 2/3 of the entrees came out cold to the touch. The chicken had a rubbery texture and the rice was hard. The dessert had a burnt crust. Visibly black. All of these are things the kitchen or (more importantly) the waitress should have caught. I don't blame the kitchen (expediter, a little), they've got an entire restaurant but the waitress' job is to quality check before the customer receives the item. Overall, I do not think this is indicative of the restaurant's quality. I will return to try other items because their menu is robust. I'll be returning alone though because my spouse has no interest in coming back. I'm hoping for a better outcome my second time around. Update: After reading the recent reviews it seems that my issues are not isolated and they are not being corrected by management. I'll save my money and go elsewhere.
My girlfriend and I actually ate here years ago. We got empanadas and enjoyed them. We came here again hoping that the steaks would be good. However, we didn't even get that far because we were presented with the saltiest tortilla chips I've ever had, while my girlfriend got a raspberry margarita that had way too much alcohol in it. People rave about your margaritas, and tortilla chips and salsa (which we weren't too thrilled about btw) is hard to screw up. If you can't get that right, why should I trust you with a $45 ribeye? Such a shame, I hope it was just a bad night but needless to say, we went elsewhere.
We ordered shrimp fajitas, Coyote Quesadilla and Coconut Shrimp with Baby Back Ribs. Had potato skin appetizer. Potato skins were good. Coconut Shrimp was burnt, they bring new ones that were tasty. Shrimp Fajitas didn't have a lot of flavor. Quesadilla was good, steak in it was dry and chewy. Friends have raved about how good it is, not sure if we didn't order the right meal but it wasn't worth the price for what we got. Didn't order alcohol and waiter seemed disinterested after we just ordered water with our meal. Service was fine, brought our food out in a timely manner, refilled waters frequently, got special orders correct. Just felt like we were a bother.
My wife and I had dinner here. Our server did great, but the food was disappointing for the price. Chips were way too salty. I got the pork chop, which came out charred and over done, and the mac and cheese, which was over cooked as well. In terms of seating, we were sat right next to a server station and kitchen, so we had waitstaff passing by our table the entire meal.
We were seated on the "heated" patio and froze! It too 45 minutes to receive our food and it was hot. But I ordered a wrap and it was greasy and the lettuce was wilted because it was hot. The baked apples looked old and were mushy. My first time there and I was not impressed at all.
This was a celebration of my wife’s 57th. Birthday. She got the stuffed peppers which had always been her favorite. I got the $59.00 bone in New York strip and ordered it rare to medium rare. My father in law ordered the petite filet also medium rare. His steak (my father in laws) steak came out blue and my steak was done medium well. He had to send his steak back to be cooked properly but, mine was really tough and overcooked. It was also over salted. We will not be going back. I will say this. The service was very good but, the food was overpriced and not at all worth it.
Beware!!!! For the price you won't get the meal you would want. And three of us were on the toilet when we got home. Went there tonight, and oh boy, the menue did not match up to the description, but service was ok, but expect to wait 20 min to order. We ordered kids chicken tenders, and those were actually ok. The highlight of our meal. We ordered Oscar steak $60. And oh boy. The steak itself was not bad, very crunchy on the outside, but the asparagus could not have been cooked for 20 min it was mush. And only got 2. Yes 2. None on the side. And the crab meat was just awful 😖.I scraped it off. And it's not crab meat is crab crumbles. The hollandaise sauce was served over it w a ladle. I had to scrape it off. They didn't have baked potatoes, so they had their mashed potatoes, and they definitely were not fresh potatoes they were from a box for sure. It was not worth the 60. My partner had seafood CHIMICHANGA, and he said oh it wasn't good." We ordered 2 and only ate 1. And he had mashed sweet potatoes, and oh my, they came out. I thought they were refried bean. He did to and tasted it. It's not mashed it blended w some kind of nut We ordered another steak for my other son it was cooked well, not med rare. And neither of my kids ate the fries. They love fries But if you look around many, many people didn't eat their dishes. When I go to a restaurant that charges that price, I expect everything almost eat able. For the price, it is not worth there. Pick something else
We used to love El Coyote, not sure what has happened. We had a party of 4 and one of our guests ordered the Tomahawk steak ($136.00). The server came back 20 minutes later and said that all of the other food was ready, but not the steak (and she said she had never served one for the 2 years she worked there). I asked her if the steak was frozen and had to be thawed and she said no. An hour later, we had been finished with dinner for quite a bit and the steak finally arrived, wrapped in foil "to go." My friend had no dinner. When he got home, he unwrapped it and well, the picture speaks for itself (raw and full of gristle). Since we invited this couple to El Coyote, my husband felt responsible and called the manager the next day (Monday morning). It is now Tuesday night, and no call back so thus the negative review - we always want to give a business a chance before writing a review. Very disappointing to say the least!
This used to be one of our favorite places, has really went down hill over the past few years. Said I wouldn’t go back last year, definitely won’t after last night. Was seated at 6pm, didn’t get our food until 8pm. I ordered a 16oz ribeye, they brought what looked like the sorriest burnt 10oz strip steak I have ever seen! Twice I ordered a beer while waiting, both times it took around 30 minutes to get my drink! Management should be ashamed of their poor quality of food and service. Save your money and go to White Castle!!!!!
Went to El Coyote this evening for dinner and to buy 4 $100 gift cards for our kids as Christmas presents. My wife and I ordered a pitcher of Margaritas and started to enjoy our chips and salsa with our drinks while we decided on dinner. My wife ordered a pork chop and when I ordered my normal 8 oz filet, was told they were all out of filets. As a signature selection I was surprised they could be out but more disappointed that we were not told when we ordered our drinks. Without having a filet, I wouldn't drink enough to justfy a pitcher versus a drink or maybe two. When the manager came by to wish us a Merry Christmas and check how everything was, he acted surprised when told how disappointed I was that they were out of filets. He tried a quick recovery and explained they were over run on Thursday and Friday and didn't have a delivery to restock. When we went to pay, I was told I couldn't use my $55 Mercy Health refund card because their "system didn't accept gift cards". We had gone to El Coyote to buy the gift cards but I was so disappointed that we left and went to Longhorn to buy the gift cards. El Coyote has been one of our favorites for over 30 years. I don't know if this was just a bad night or if the current ownership doesn't understand there are too many options for eating out to provide this kind of an experience.
