Bread was delicious. Calamari was also delicious, but i prefer it without the sauce. Then my entre was shrimp and risotto with a lobster butter sauce. My husband also got the 12 oz prime rib, it was super tender and had great flavor.
First time dining at this restaurant. We really enjoyed the food and service we received. Bread was delicious! The salad and French onion soup was phenomenal. My steak was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were delicious. We ordered the bananas foster and it was delicious! My husband enjoyed a few old fashionds. My niece ordered the grouper piccata and unfortunately she was disappointed with that dish.
Went here for my anniversary dinner and was not disappointed! We started with the calamari, and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The tomahawk steak was phenomenal and plenty for 2 to share. The service was on point and we never went without fresh drinks.
Loved it so much went back 3 times in 1 week! The bartender pictured is a master at his craft. Some of my favorites are the Billionaires Bacon and Fried Lobster for appetizers. The filet has been my favorite so far but all the steaks have been amazing. The scallops were devine as well as the desserts.
For years, Bascom’s was little more than a landmark I noted through my car window—a beacon of "culinary excellence" I promised myself I’d eventually visit. Recently, I finally traded the commute for a table, joining a group of colleagues to see if this Pinellas County staple truly lived up to its decades of accolades. The experience began with a sophisticated flair that immediately signaled why this place has endured since 2001. Our waiter was the epitome of professional, providing an attentive, seamless service that allowed our group to focus on the conversation. The first real "wow" moment came with the arrival of the Old Fashioneds. They were delivered in individual wooden boxes, which, when opened, released a plume of trapped smoke—a theatrical touch that felt both modern and timeless. As we moved into the meal, the Billionaire’s Bacon proved to be a revelation. It was outstanding, delivering on every bit of its indulgent promise. Following a classic, well-executed Caesar salad, I moved on to the definitive litmus test for any serious steakhouse: the NY Strip, ordered medium. The kitchen nailed the execution. The steak arrived with a perfect cook, a deep, rich flavor, and a texture that confirmed the quality of their sourcing. To round out the plate, I opted for the broccolini with smoked gouda and a loaded baked potato. While the broccolini was perfectly fine, the potato was a highlight of proportion. Topped with bacon and sour cream, it was priced fairly for its size—substantial enough to feel like a treat, yet not so massive that it became a chore to finish. Reflecting on the evening, Bascom’s is an easy recommendation for anyone seeking a meal that balances tradition with a few innovative sparks. While the debate over the absolute "top" steakhouse in the entire Tampa Bay area is a fierce one—and often leans toward the Tampa side of the bridge—Bascom’s firmly stakes its claim as a premier destination on the Clearwater and St. Petersburg side. It is a great experience that comfortably earns more than four stars, and I’m glad to have finally turned off the road and stepped through their doors.
A comfortable, cozy steakhouse vibe with plenty of appealing, and hearty options. We split the most tender bacon appetizer, waygu focaccia, and oysters. For entrees I stuck to a classic 6oz filet and split the creamy Lobster Mac'n Cheese. The Scallops were perfectly complemented by the pomegranate and balsamic glaze.
Very good steak house. Probably best high end one in Pinellas County. Service impeccable, food well cooked and properly seasoned. High price, but luxury dining experience.
We had a lovely dinner here last weekend and it did not disappoint! The lobster bisque and lobster mac and cheese were some of the best I’ve ever had. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Drinks were also on point. Definitely will be back when we’re in town!
There's a reason this place has been around for over 20 years and that's the consistent delicious dishes and exceptional service! If you never been here, put it on your list. We were greeted with a warm welcome and seated promptly at our reserved time. Our server, Kenny, was knowledge and attentive! The wine list is amazing and I liked thay they had several mocktails to choose from. We started with the fried lobster and lump crab martini. Both were outstanding! The lobster had an airy and light batter while not overpowering the lobster. Australian wagu strip cooked to a perfect medium rare and diver scallops were my choice and the steak just melts in your mouth. The sides, ohhhhh the sides, gouda mac and cheese, creamed corn, potato gratin and maple and honey roasted carrots with goat cheese and pecans, were all delicious! We finished with the chocolate mousse with chocolate chips, salted caramel popcorn, whipped cream, shaved chocolate and caramel sauce. A perfect ending to a perfect meal! We were also checked on by the manager, Eric, who was warm and friendly. Already looking forward to my next visit!
My husband and I had an amazing dinner at Bascoms. If you’re looking for a place to have a memorable dinner, this is the spot. You will be blown away! We started with the lobstercargot appetizer and it was absolutely spectacular-rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. For our main course my husband had the New York strip, which he said was the best he ever had. I had the lamb chops which were to perfection, juicy and tender. The service was on point from beginning to end; our server checked on us often to make sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. They truly went above and beyond. Even the manager came to our table to personally make sure we were taken care of and that everything was to our liking. That extra touch of hospitality really stood out! Highly recommend Bascom’s for anyone looking for excellent food, great service, and a place that makes you feel genuinely welcomed.
This is one of my favorite places to dine, and I’ve never had a bad experience with either the service or the food. It was my friend’s first time dining here, and overall he loved it and is already talking about coming back soon. We ordered the pork chops with the sherry sauce—this time they were a bit over-salted, but everything else was spot on. The billionaires, bacon, lobster mac and cheese, bread, smoked Old Fashioned, and rum and coke were all delicious. Pork chops are his favorite protein, so he’s excited to come back and give them another try. I’ll definitely continue coming back to eat here.
Great experience and amazing dishes. Service was a bit slow but no big deal considering that they have to bring the food from the kitchen to the top floor (where we sat). Definitely worth the wait and another visit. Highly recommended!
Bascom'a is a great place to have a dinner date or celebration. It's on the pricier side but EVERYTHING they offer is delicious and properly cooked. Their steaks are cooked to perfection and their sides are plentiful. Highly recommended.
We went for a team lunch outing of 12, for our second time. We all ordered something different, and none of us had any complaints. I had the wedge and prime rib. Both were delicious. They also offer appetizer, entree, drink and dessert specialties that are not on the menu. Very attentive servers. Definitely recommend if you don't mind paying the prices.
Just took a trip to clear water for our anniversary and to keep this review short and sweet we decided to hit this place because I’m a sucker for steak. This was hands down the best experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had, our server Christopher made sure our whole dine in was taken care of to the T give that man an award if possible. As for the food I had the A5 Australian Wagyu and haven’t had anything better that steak was absolutely to die for I 10000% would be coming here again 1 for the food but as well as the service we received from Christopher.
DELICIOUS! Tried this place out for my husband’s birthday. He had the Australian A5 Wagyu and I had the scallops. They were both delicious. We both had mixed drinks which were crafted to perfection. The waiter was very friendly and patient with us. They also allowed me to bring in a cake for the birthday and served it to us. I definitely recommend having a reservation!
Our waitress Kim provided excellent service and menu recommendations. I had the Fried Lobster as an appetizer along with a piece of their Bacon. The Fried Lobster was incredible and somehow the sauce was even better! I ordered the 18oz Ribeye and the 14oz Prime Rib. Both were hearty pieces of beef and were cooked to the temp I requested. They were delicious! As a side, I had the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The mashed potatoes were good. Expect to pay a pretty penny for a meal, but you know what they say, you get what you pay for! When I go back I will be getting more beef and lobster . Overall I ate about 3lbs of food in one sitting, enjoyed every bit, and walked out full as a tick!
Dined at Bascom’s Chop House and it was an absolute treat! The Billionaire Bacon was a decadent start, perfectly crispy and rich. The truffle fries were aromatic and addictive, with just the right amount of truffle flavor. My New York strip was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, and the salmon was equally impressive—fresh, tender, and delicious. Every dish was a hit, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommend this spot for an unforgettable meal!
Cancelled other reservations to come here instead, so glad we did! I’ll start by saying very accommodating, complimentary valet up front which was nice. Didn’t take us long to be seated with reservations, we sat upstairs the the staff immediately greeted us and was very friendly. If you’re a drinker make sure you try their martinis they are great with hand stuffed blue cheese olives. We all got soups for starters, lobster bisque and French onion were absolutely incredible. Probably some of the best I’ve had in a long time to be honest. Then we pretty much all got prime Rib with creamy horse sauce and au jus on top, very very good! We also got lobster Mac, truffle fries, and cheesy broccolini for the table, they were all absolutely incredible! This is absolutely how a steak house is suppose to be, and service was great! We will absolutely be coming back everytime we vacation to Florida!
Outstanding! The food, drinks, ambiance, and service was nothing shy of amazing! This was my hubby and I first time here as we celebrated his birthday. The staff greeted us with warm smiles and made sure to wish my hubby a happy birthday. We started with the lobster appetizer which was absolutely delicious. The sauce on the side was good enough to eat alone. For our entrées my hubby had the porterhouse steak which was 26oz of deliciousness and cooked and seasoned to perfection. I had the NY strip which was also delicious and I added the truffle sauce on the side which was mmmuahhh!! Can't forget about the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and asparagus for the sides! Zac was our server very knowledgeable of the menu and provided excellent service. Eric the manager swung by our table (looking dapper) to wish hubby a happy birthday. Of course we had to express how impressed we were with everything including his suit (compliments to his wife)! We were equally sent off with kindness from the staff (even the valet guy and we didn't even park valet). We will definitely be back!
I've read the previous reviews that were below 5 stars (in particular the one or two stars) and I have to wonder did we eat at the same place!! Clearwater vacation and my husband is a steak guy. Bascom's Chop House kept coming up in my searches for fine steak dining. Let's go!! 1. Location was perfect, compared to where we stayed in Clearwater Beach. Had an 8:30 reservation and got a text about 8 that our table was ready. No biggie that just meant as soon as we got there , we were taken right to our seats. Nice ambiance and the settings, while looked antique (I mean that in an elegant type of way) it was great for a steakhouse. Our server Blake was right on point! Explained the menu, offered suggestions, was very attentive, even talked a little football (which is a plus for us football fans) Can we start with the wedge salad AND THE BILLION DOLLAR BACON!!! Who did this!?? I have never had anything so good. Meant to order some to go. Main course, I had the filet and my husband had the ribeye (I think was his cut). My filet was AMAZING. Charred perfectly, tender flavored. Husband did have to add a little salt to his steak, but no slight on the prep and temperature just his taste buds. Went basic on the sides with garlic mashed and broccoli with gouda. If I had one little con, the presentation of the broccoli left a little to be desired. But the flavor with the smoked gouda was very good! And lastly, the creme brule' (sp) and blueberry cheesecake, both recommended by Blake. Just WOW! Clearly we had a wonderful experience for our last night of vacation and would hands down return again the next time we're in the area. A very nice gentleman manager came around and checked our drinks and food and then the general manager, Eric, came around and ensured that our experience was in point. Most of all and MOST importantly, my husband was pleased. (The lighting was dim so these photos do not do this much justice)
We have been wanting to try Bascoms for dinner. It was incredible. We will definately be going back. One of the best places we have gone for dinner since we've moved here.
My server was absolutely terrific. I didn't feel like she was hovering, but is still seemed like she was there exactly when i needed. The atmosphere was very old school school steakhouse, so much so that the tvs almost seemed out of place. Not that i am complaining though, they had a good variety of sports on. As far as food, one of the best NY Strips i have ever had at a restaurant. They use Stoli Elit vodka, which has won international awards, and my martini reflected the excellent choice. I paid roughly $50 for lunch and a martini, so I won't say it was inexpensive. But, it was a NY Strip lunch, so I would still call it a bargain.
Absolutely 5 in every category! Although we had reservations, sitting at the bar is our preference. At the end of the bar, there's an open kitchen . Service is outstanding! They offered a cold seafood platter for $60; it was perfect to enjoy with a cocktail. 3 of their oysters, huge shrimp as well as lobster and crab legs. Yummy. Although we rarely eat meat....we both fought over a piece of Billionaire Bacon 🥓 you've gotta try it!!! You're not going to be able to leave without at least $125 for 2. It's splitting the seafood platter and 1 cocktail, 2 beers. Steaks look delicious however we were thrilled with the delicious shell fish.
This was our second time dining here and I must say, each visit seems to get better and better. Not only is the food absolutely amazing, but our service from Emily was absolutely top notch. She was attentive, kind and as someone with over a decade in the service industry, I can deeply appreciate wonderful service like the kind Emily provided.
No rez? No problem. First and second floor bars (inc hightops) are first come, first serve. Active and friendly atmosphere. Very handy to the PIE airport, too!
By far my favorite diner I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. This was a diner for my husband’s birthday and he loved every single dish. Our waitress was Kim, she was amazing along with all the people that greeted us and prepared our meals with care. We ordered the following; Appetizer: Bread with Chimmi oil Seafood tower Drinks: Merlot Espresso Diet Coke Entree: 14 oz ribeye, lobster tail, hot honey carrots with goat cheese and candy pecans, truffle fries with sauce and the lobster Mac & cheese. Dessert: waffle cream and fruit with cognac chocolate syrup Everything was exquisite. If we lived closer we would be here much more often!
What a great dining experience. I sat on one of the high tops in the bar area. The service by the ladies at the bar was freaking incredible. They were on top of the experience. The shrimp cocktail was amazing and very fresh. The stone crab app was amazing as well and is in season and very much worth the price. The lobster bisque was great and had the perfect amount of lobster. The Cesar salad was one of the best. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and heavy marble as advertised. The managers stopped by to make sure the experience was this over the top. Make reservations and put this on your monthly list of places to indulge.
I have to admit when a prospective client suggests a fine dining highly rated steakhouse; I tend to think “$$$$”! But here you have all that well-deserved reputation offers, AND a fabulous Lunch menu; reasonably priced. And don’t even get me started on the “Billionaires Bacon”! I’m not even a big fan of lots of pepper seasoning BUT this was AMAZING! Perfectly cooked; with a deep smoke flavor and just the right sweetness to make this a staple to include on every visit. Highly recommend Basoms!
Probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Went all in for the A5 Wagyu Ribeye with Asparagus. Excellent dessert selection. The staff is superb. I will definitely be back.
The food was phenomenal!! Everything was amazing. My boyfriend has always been reluctant to try new things but he tried lobster escargo and some of my French onion soup. My filet was cooked just right and so tender and flavorful. Our waitress was personable, engaging and funny.
We looked up "best cocktails" and stumbled on this location. SO glad redid did! Rich, delish food and amazing cocktails. The lobster deviled eggs were dynamite. We did the surf and turf for two and that was a great way to go. If you're looking for quiet, this may not be for you. The atmosphere is buzzy and lively which we enjoyed. Our server, Mark was knowledgeable and gracious.
We had a wonderful dinner at Bascom's. Great service! Great food and drinks! Wonderful, warm atmosphere!
Unbelievable that's all I can say! The atmosphere is very warm and cozy and the hostess was super friendly. We were seated and quickly greeted by our server Kenny. We were celebrating our 4 year anniversary and we were excited to try this restaurant. Kenny was so friendly, courteous and accommodating. We shared the 38oz tomahawk steak and he highly recommended the smoked Gouda mac and cheese as a side. It was not the most expensive side, but he said it was his absolute favorite. We also had the loaded baked potato and that can be shared as well because it is huge as was the other side. The portions are extremely generous for sure. That dinner was the absolute best that we have has since relocating here and we could not have picked a better place. We cannot rave enough about the food, the portions, the flavor, the ambiance and we cannot rave enough about our server Kenny. I would highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Kenny, he's the best!
This place is an incredible gem that everyone needs to seek out! Great spot for a date night, client dinner, or even a private event. Decadent food, delicious cocktails, elevated atmosphere, and impeccable service to top it off. The staff clearly enjoys being a part of their team - we saw several members helping out in the smallest ways that made a big difference. Highly recommend, and our server Jackie was wonderful!
One of the best steaks I’ve ever had — and I’ve been to all the top steakhouses in NYC. I ordered the ribeye with blue cheese crumbles and it was tender like butter — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and so soft I didn’t even need a steak knife. Absolute perfection. The French onion soup was heavenly — rich, deep, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The sides were amazing, and the blueberry cheesecake was insane. Truly next level. And the smoked old fashioned? Blew my mind. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and the smoky aroma just took it to another level. Easily one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Service was top tier. Massive shoutout to Zach for being attentive, professional, and on point all night. Worth every dollar. This place is the real deal — unforgettable from start to finish.
This is an excellent steak house and restaurant. From the moment you enter this establishment, you can simply sense that you are in for something special. Hostess was ultra welcoming and the servers were well informed, professional, timely and very pleasant. Our steaks AND sides were prepared to perfection and the cocktails were very good as well. A full wine selection is on hand as is a wonderful dessert menu. All in all, this was a fantastic evening... Well done!
I had an absolutely incredible dinner tonight! The prime rib literally melted in my mouth — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious, the potato au gratin was pure perfection, and the mac and cheese was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter, Zach, was on point all night. Attentive without being overbearing, super knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better. From start to finish, everything was flawless. Highly recommend!
We had an incredible experience at Bascom’s, and a huge part of that was our server, Michael T. He was absolutely amazing—attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. From start to finish, the service was seamless, and Michael’s recommendations were spot-on. He made the entire evening feel relaxed, special, and worth every penny. If you’re dining at Bascom’s, ask for Michael T—you won’t regret it. This is exactly how a top-tier steakhouse experience should feel.
We hosted our company holiday party, The Sleigh Soirée, at Bascom’s Chop House, and it was an absolute success from start to finish. A special thank you to Keith, the Events Manager, who made the entire planning process seamless. He was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and detail-oriented , truly making what can be a stressful process feel effortless and enjoyable. On the day of the event, Brandon, our server, delivered stellar service. His attentiveness, speed, and professionalism elevated the entire experience for our group. Knowing he’s approaching his four-year anniversary with Bascom’s speaks volumes about the level of talent and care on your team. The food was outstanding across the board... from the drinks to the appetizers and entrées. The Billionaire Bacon was a crowd favorite, and the Twin Lobster Tails, Pecan Crusted Grouper, and especially the Filet received glowing praise from every guest. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Thank you to the entire Bascom’s team for helping us create such a memorable holiday celebration. Happy Holidays, and you will most definitely be seeing The Krauss Organization again!
We hosted a private event upstairs in the Crystal Room, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. The space itself was beautiful and perfect for our event. Keith was incredibly helpful throughout the planning and execution, making everything seamless. We were able to fit 3 casino tables and photo booth with 41 people for a plated dinner. A special shoutout to the phenomenal service team—they were attentive, professional, and truly elevated the entire evening. And an extra thank you to Juliano R., who went above and beyond to help me with every detail and stayed on top of everything the entire night. The food, service, and overall experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend Bascom’s Chop House for private events!
Upscale with impeccable food and service! Order the billionaires bacon! You won't be disappointed. We came here for the prime rib which was literally so tender it practically melted in our mouths. We ended the dinner with in-house made key lime pie. Best experience in a long time. Will be back!
Outstanding. Our waiter, Jake, friendly, helpful, not snooty. My filet was perfect and cooked exactly as ordered. Don't waste your time and money on Berns. Go to Bascom's. You won't be disappointed!
Had an unbelievable, wonderful time here last night. I'm a fan of prime rib, and they have it as a regular item on the menu. Others in my party had filets. Everyone agreed it was fantastic. And mine was a perfect medium-rare. But the thing that made the night really special was *perfect* service. Rachel took care of us--she's clearly a seasoned pro, knew the menu inside and out, made excellent recommendations, and even split a salad for us without any issues. She was never hovering, but checked on us on a regular basis. Changed out silverware, got the table cleared quickly, etc. The combination of excellent food and excellent service is hard to beat. Can't wait to have an excuse to go back. Also, incidentally--it's better than Bern's by a long shot. Just sayin'. Plus it's not impossible to get a table at Bascom's. ;-)
Food was delicious. Kids burger was huge. Server though I'm sure did not intend on coming off rude, was. My father in-law offered to pay the bill and handed the server cash. As she asked if he was a loyalty member I said I was, as I've in the past provided my info for the loyalty program. She said unfortunately "the person paying has to be the loyalty member." I let it go at the time but said to the table that that was odd because I've used my info in the past regardless of who "paid." When the server returned she said she heard me mention I've used my member info in the past and that they have "cracked down on that" more recently. So, for anyone who is dining here with a large table and only one person is paying, in CASH, I'd advise having the other person hand the cash over to the server 😒 she would not have known the difference had I handed over the cash. My in-laws aren't signing up for the loyalty program since they don't live on this side of town, and quite frankly you have no idea how we planned to split the tab after we left. For dropping $600 on a dinner, that wasn't a good last impression you would want your server to make on the table that just dined here.
Found out about this great locally-owned establishment after receiving an invite from someone who has been there twice. The entrees were delicious and the shareable lobster Mac were great. The crunchiness of the fresh veggies in their house salad was refreshing. Our server was attentive, and the atmosphere was quiet, classy, and cozy. Not overcrowded, and the prices to start are reasonable for premium cuts of beef from filets to tomahawk. I had the grand margarita and a bottle of lemon water. Drinks are strong, and I definitely recommend it to others while advising that the prices go up steeply if you aren't vigilant.
Steak was really good. The skirt steak was pretty decent. The filet mignon was great. Brandon, our waiter, was the 🐐. Would definitely return.
I've often enjoyed takeout from this place, especially the sliced prime rib sandwich, which is truly special. For a special day like Valentine's Day, I chose to dine in person. Sadly, the experience didn't quite live up to my hopes. The server was friendly enough, but I noticed other servers were a bit more attentive. We were seated in a bright, second-floor room that felt more energetic, while other parts of the restaurant seemed warmer and more inviting. The pork belly billionaire bacon appetizer looked stunning but was a bit too peppery, dry, and flavorless, and the bread served was a little too tough. The wagyu steak, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, arrived cold and needed salt and pepper to boost the flavor—quite a letdown. The crème brûlée looked tempting, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I really wanted the meal to be memorable, but sadly, it just didn’t quite hit the mark.
This speaks to their “happy hour” as stated on their website as one of the best happy hours ever. So we sat at the bar and enquired about their happy hour and was told it was $1 off drinks. That was their happy hour….lol. Perhaps you should change the verbiage on your website. There was no happy hour on any food. Proceeded to order a 9 ounce filet. I’m used to a filet being 2 “ thick as in most great steakhouses around here. Nope….not here. It was at best 1” thick. So if you want to a great filet, go to Island Way Grill. Have to say they do the best filet in the area. If you’re going to spend that kind of money, you want the best.
Don't order the carpachio. Staff and ambience were excellent. Steak was very wrongly cooked. Not impressive for a steakhouse. Bisque was half a cup and very little lobster. Great drinks. I'll give it one more chance at a much later date, but not impressed with the kitchen at all.
