I visited Terra's for a retirement workshop. My first time eating here. I ordered the ribeye steak, mash potatoes, broccolini and the kit Kat for dessert. The steak was juicy and flavorful cooked to perfection. The salad, potatoes, broccolini and kit Kat for dessert were delicious. I will definitely return
Our go to date night spot! We’ve been countless times and it never disappoints. The staff is always extremely friendly and the food is always phenomenal. We almost always get a pizza or two to take home for the next day and its always delicious even next day.
The best Dining experience I've had in Columbia SC ..I felt like I was in NY City or Miami . The food flavors were out of this world ..and the ambience was warm and elegant ....We really liked our server too. He was sociable but not intrusive.
Terra is one of our favorites! Great for special occasions or just because. Drinks and wine selection are always top notch. Menu is creative and well-prepared. Service is always warm and friendly without pretense.
Here’s a NED-style review for Terra (assuming it's the rooftop restaurant at Eataly or a modern Mediterranean/Italian spot): --- ✅ What Works Well - Beautiful ambiance with rustic-meets-modern decor—especially great for rooftop dining (if applicable). - Seasonal, wood-fired dishes with a focus on fresh Italian ingredients. - Great wine list and craft cocktails that complement the menu. - Ideal for special occasions or date nights. - Knowledgeable staff and polished service. --- 👎 What to Watch Out For - Prices can be steep, especially for mains and drinks. - Some dishes may lean light on portions. - Busy atmosphere—reservations recommended. - Limited options for picky eaters or those not into Mediterranean flavors. --- 🎯 Verdict Terra delivers a refined dining experience centered around fire-grilled Italian cuisine—best enjoyed with a view, a glass of wine, and good company. Rating: 4.5 / 5 --- Need top dish or wine picks?
I can not say enough thank yous to the Terra team. I had a last minute event come up for about 20-25 people that I needed and event space for. I sent an email via the Terra website explaining what type of event I was having and the number of quests and within the hour I received a response! Mike Lee and his team did PHENOMENAL! They were absolutely attentive and stayed in contact with me not only during the process but also the night of. They made sure that guest were aware of their tabs and the stipulation I had set in place in terms of beverages. I would like to also shout out Kathryn T. It is evident that when there is a great leader present (Mike Lee) employees are also amazing. Kathryn and Mike were both so patient and kind. When I walked in I needed to rearrange some tables in the event space and without a question Kathryn fixed the tables as I needed.Kathryn went ABOVE and BEYOND the night of the event as a server. I was slightly stressed about having to plan such a last minute event (about a week and half time to plan) and Mike Lee, Kathryn and everyone else on the Terra team made that night so beautiful and everything ran so smoothly I had no stress at all. Also, there is complimentary vallet which was also amazing as my guests did not have to worry about finding a parking spot. I look forward to doing business again in the near future with Mike Lee and the Terra team. Thank you all for your phenomenal service, kindness, patience and every other good thing you do and continue to do!
I like the funky jazz music they have in the background. The list of beers is amazing. I recommend the tiny bomb pilsner with the cold oysters. I will come back definitely. Update, New years dinner here 2023. I highly recommend the fried oysters. There was also a potato pancake with caviar, excellent 👌👌👌. Our waitress, Kaitlin was the best.
Terra was amazing. We had a large group and everyone raved about their meals. Meals we ordered and loved were the Steak Frites, Korean Short Rib Lettuce Wraps, and Chinese Braised Pork Belly. I got the Crispy Eggplant and it was phenomenal. It was actually crispy and not soggy. Desserts we chose were peanut butter pie with a lovely toasted marshmallow topping, a banana bread cake with ice cream and a cookie with Maker’s Mark ice cream. They had some very unusual ice cream flavors and dessert options. Several agreed they were all delicious, but the peanut butter pie was the best. The drink menu was also quite varied. The servers were exceptional and the atmosphere was comfortable yet elegant. If you’re in the Vista area of Columbia, you need to plan a meal at Terra. (I have no pics of the food. We all just dug in)
Pleasant early Father’s Day dinner at this fine restaurant. The cocktails were excellent. We were a party of five. The lamb Mac was a group favorite; everyone enjoyed it. The house salad with goat cheese was also good. Two orders of the ribeye steak and fries were brought to our table. Perfect medium rare with excellent fries. My scallops were perfect. The lamb entree was also very good. The one thing I would like to add, apart from the excellent food was the time given to us at the table to talk and enjoy the atmosphere between drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. I was pleasantly surprised that we were not “rushed” out in any way. You don’t see that in many restaurants in the US. I will be returning, for sure
First time at Terra. It was delicious. Everything was tasty. Our apps were Korean short rib lettuce wraps and Brussells Nomi-yaki with fun Bonito flakes effect. All very tasty. For dinner, my husband had Carolina Heritage Farm Pork Milanese and I had the Pan seared Flounder. We both enjoyed the dinner with our sides. It filled us up but not so much we were overwhelmed. It was delicious! We ordered desserts and they were the best and most innovative we've ever had in Columbia, SC. Their dessert menu even had a Filipino dessert called Turon. We ordered the Almond Joy pie and Raspberry Chocolate bombe. They were amazing! We had a friendly waitress who checked on us timely. It was a great dinner and I can't wait to go back!
My date and I had an amazing time. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and helpful. Very relaxed, intimate, grown & classy type of vibe. Only complaint is the parking is terrible as is with just about any establishment located in a downtown area. We will be visiting again in the future!
Nice Columbia restaurant. I've only been here a handful of times over the past ten years, but I've not been disappointed. The service is excellent. The drink selection is excellent. The food is great. If your are an amari fan, this place has a good selection - possibly the best I've found in the city. This is not a weekly date place for us (due to the price), but it fits the bill for an occasional special date option
I dined at Terra and tried the Grilled Swordfish Grenobloise — it was fantastic! The swordfish was perfectly grilled, tender, and flavorful, with a rich Grenobloise sauce that added just the right touch of brightness and depth. The dish was beautifully presented, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. The ambiance at Terra was warm and inviting, making it a wonderful setting for a relaxed, upscale meal. I’d highly recommend this dish to any seafood lover!
First time experiencing this place. The waitresses and the staff are very nice. The food was very pleasing to the eye and tasted well. Be ready to spend over a 100 for a couple especially if you're buying drinks and starters. The only thing is that we weren't told that the goat cheese ball with the salad was extra, we thought it came with it. Hubby did not like it so that was an expense that could have been avoided. Over all enjoyed my dinner.
My boss raved about this restaurant, so I was eagerly anticipating my first visit. I arrived with an empty stomach, eager to explore the elegant, quiet, and mature atmosphere. However, there were a few things that left me disappointed. The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. She spoke and recommended food as if she were cooking for herself, which was great. But her attire was unkempt and disheveled. Her flannel shirt and disheveled hair gave off a lot of a “I’m not taking this seriously” vibe. It’s important to remember that she’s also handling your food, so her appearance and cleanliness are crucial. The food was okay. We ordered almost every appetizer on the menu, and while they were slow, they were decent. The highlight of the meal was the cauliflower. It was delicious and well-seasoned. The green sauce complemented the cauliflower perfectly, and the charcoal flavor was divine. However, I ordered the salad and asked the waitress for extra dressing. She told me that “you don’t need dressing, dressing is already in it, you just have to steer it.” I informed her that I did, but I still wanted more. I have to mention that I had to eat my salad without dressing because she refused to give me extra. The salad was not free, and even though it had some dressing, it was my salad, and I wanted to eat it how I wanted to eat it. It wasn’t up to her. The main dish was the fish. It was okay. The fish was cooked crispy and flavorful, but the sauce was very pungent and overpowering. The presentation was beautiful, but the execution of the dish pairing of the fish with the bean and the curry was not great. We also ordered a couple of cocktails, and the unanimous consensus was that they were terrible. They were too strong and bitter. I ordered a coyote drink, but it was so bitter and strong that I couldn’t finish it. I requested another drink, hoping for a slightly less refined version, but it was still the same. The only improvement would be adding more sugar. I wonder if the bartender even tastes the drinks. They’re truly terrible. To conclude my rant, I’d consider returning to this restaurant only if I’m craving cauliflower. That was the only redeeming quality of the meal. However, I’ll definitely skip this place in the future.
My partner and I just left this restaurant and I wanted to share our experience because we were looking forward to this and we left very disappointed. I want to start out by saying this was not a horrible experience, the atmosphere and ambience was very romantic and relaxing and the wine was exceptional, what was lacking was in the food and service. I had the scallops and he had the pork chop, all i could taste was salt in my food and his pork chop was unevenly cooked with parts of his pork chop being rare, medium, and well done/ dry. The service felt inattentive and we were there to celebrate my partners graduation and the experience felt unsatisfactory and was not worth the money we spent. We had a gift card that took 100 off and i still feel like we spent more money than what we got.
