Great food and service. Had crab legs & shrimp. Everything was delicious and succulent aside from the sausage link which was bland in comparison but definitely recommend going here even if you aren’t getting crawfish
I've been meaning to write this review for a long time. I don't usually write many reviews, but I like to give credit where it's due. This place is a real gem for many reasons, but the owner, his family, and their attitude are the most important. Yes, the food is outstanding. The crawfish is excellent, the seasoning is best-in-class, and the rest of the menu is great too. I'm a huge fan of the gumbo and probably hit the to-go window for it eight or ten times per season. I've seen Dan around the restaurant for about ten years now, but I only formally met him last night in the drive-through line. He was taking orders and ensuring things ran smoothly during what must be their busiest night of the year. He'll remember I ordered 8 bowls of gumbo to go. I asked him to stack them two to a bag to avoid a mess in my car. Not only did he do that, but he also jogged over to the restaurant and had them box it all up for me for a stable transport method. If you've never dealt with crawfish, you might not understand the hard work involved. Crawfish sacks from suppliers are 30-35 pounds, and you have to handle hundreds of them in a day. The kitchen is always hot and humid due to all the boiling water, and the steam contains seasoning that can irritate your respiratory system. It's very hard work. Why do I bring up the hard work? Because Dan and his entire staff always have an outstanding attitude. I've never been through those doors or that drive-through window without a cheerful smile and a traditional "howdy!" It takes a lot of good leadership to keep people upbeat and cheerful when there's so much miserable work to do. Everyone from the kitchen staff to the host or hostess is on point with their attitude. Given the sheer volume of customers, there isn't much time to spend with any individual customer, but they still manage to inject a little light into your day. In any tiff with an unreasonable customer, Dan always supports his staff. He isn't rude, and I've overheard him dealing with some pretty absurd complaints over the years, but he knows his people, trusts their good intentions, and treats them with respect. As someone who bartended and waited tables in my youth, I can tell you with 100% certainty that "the customer is NOT always right." Dan walks the fine line between customer service and supporting his people, and that goes much further than the food for me. Personally, I've never had a problem. My wife and son once got a "small-ish" pound of crawfish, and someone just brought them an extra one. No problem. I also like that there's often a police officer on duty, standing out in the heat. Country places and crawfish shacks can get rowdy, and that officer makes this feel like a safe place to bring your family any day, any time. It's a nice touch. Another thing I really like is that this place employs a lot of young people from the area. Those kids are learning to work HARD and to "do what you should, when it ought to be done, with a good attitude, whether you like it or not." This is a critical life skill that will serve them well in whatever they pursue. If I had to nitpick, I'd give you two points of feedback: It can be VERY busy. The wait can be substantial, and they don't take reservations. But when you're this popular, first come, first served makes sense. I've never felt rushed, but they appreciate it if you order, have your fun, eat your food, and move on. They don't want you to wait longer than necessary. You got the benefit when you were in line, and the people in line now deserve the same benefit. I think Dan would agree with my assessment. Who knows, maybe he'll reply to this review :) The prices are a little on the high side. They're in the upper third of crawfish joints for price. But the food is good, the staff is outstanding, and the experience never deteriorates regardless of how busy they are. For me, it's worth the extra money. If that bothers you, well, you're in south Texas. There are other great places nearby, and I don't think Dan would begrudge you for trying them out.
This place is excellent. Last time visiting was 2009. Saw it on local TV and went back with spouse and grown kids. Service was best ever. Crawfish were good size especially compared to others this poor season. Crawfish were the cleanest of any we have had due to their better cleaning process. We got there at 4 when they opened. There was a 40 person wait when we left. Get there early and it won’t dissapoint. Bring your own cooler with drinks.
Best crawfish ever hands down. Dan is the man
This place is what crawfish dreams are made of. So delicious! Literally the best crawfish I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back!
First is the building. Cavernous metal truck garage with Giant Doors. Scores of ceiling fans make a pleasant, needed breeze. The vibe is pure communal feeding frenzy and people party. A cathedral of mudbug love and, for sure, this place hums and vibrates happiness. Spiciness of the ‘dads is supposed to vary from mild to searing. Couldn’t say for sure. Them mud bugs are boiled to perfect doneness. I’ve tasted ‘dads cooked in concoctions which are loaded with cloves, or allspice or other spices. Not here; this is where people like to eat hot bugs, straight up. The flavor is heat, meat and tender perfection. Sides of corn, taters, sausage, and mushrooms are available and oh so tasty. Service is great. Owners make rounds to make sure everything is “alright,” which it is. Yeah. BYOB for adult bevs.
i’m born and raised Louisiana. I’ve been on the hunt for an authentic crawfish place in the houston area since i moved here. Let me just say Crawfish Shack has the BEST and most authentic tasting true Louisiana crawfish!! It was definitely worth the hour drive and I will be back soon!!
My family and I have been patronizing this eating establishment since they first opened and have NEVER had a bad experience. The taste/flavor is ALWAYS consistent and flavorful. One key factor is the owner is there and present, greets and visits with patrons to ask about our experience and THAT GOES A LONG WAY, especially for people traveling from surrounding cities and pass other crawfish establishments to come here- we come here because the crawfish has the best flavor, size, taste & price (PLUS, they are always consistent). We patronize them the entire crawfish season and count the months on the calendar for the next crawfish season so we can return!!
Best crawfish there is! I never mind sitting in traffic and waiting to be seated just to be able to have their crawfish. The drive and wait is worth it every time. Owners and staff are always the most attentive and welcoming. Will always support the shack!
SO GOOD and the crawfish were huge. The waitress was super sweet and kept emptying our bucket every couple of mins. I got the spiciest one and just the flavor alone was amazing. 10/10 highly recommend.
I absolutely love this place!!! I've been going here for years & always enjoy myself. Great prices & they don't nick & dime you for everything. Also, they really know how to serve spicy!!
Some of the best boiled crawfish you'll find anywhere in the greater Houston area. It's very focused on the crawfish experience (crab & shrimp are available too) & they do it quite well. Mild or Mo Spicy with a few additions like potatoes, corn, sausage & mushrooms (boiled egg too). Friendly service & it's BYOB.
Crawfish Shack is my best to go place for Fresh Cooked Crawfish to keep you going for more. Either way you want it to Dine in or to Go. This place is Suitable for big or small group sizes. You get Quality Crawfish all the Time. I like it Here.
Simply delicious! Great place to have some good ole seafood boils and drinks (byob friendly) the staff is attentive and kind. Establishment is clean and the hand wash stations just make sense ! I visit from Houston on a regular and don’t mind the distance , it’s just that good!
Amazing service. Better food. Great environment.
We drove from Beaumont and it was well worth the drive! I had the Shack Trio and my wife had 5lbs of crawfish and it was the best we’ve had to date!’! Luis was our waiter and he gave us 5 ⭐️ service. We will definitely be back!
For this to be my first time here, I was pleased. I did the drive-thru option so I could enjoy it at the house. Based on the line, I thought it would take forever and a day to get thru. I'm glad I decided to stay in line because the line did not take long to move, plus the food was worth the short wait. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I will definitely go back.
This spot is my ultimate go-to for indulging in delicious crawfish! Every time I visit, they have piping hot, incredibly flavorful, and wonderfully juicy crawfish. What sets them apart from many other crawfish joints is their method: rather than simply sprinkling seasonings on top after cooking, they immerse the crawfish in seasoned water, allowing the flavors to penetrate every morsel. It's a game-changer! Needless to say, I've become a loyal patron, and I can confidently say that I'll be returning time and time again to satisfy my cravings.
Been coming here for a couple years and although it's a drive from where I live it's well worth it! Good size crawfish, and the more spicy is a spice lovers dream. Service is good and the prices are fair. Great place for groups, kids and dog friendly. Also it's byob so you can enjoy your mud bugs with and ice cold beer.
At first glance you think hmmmm is this as good as people say? But then you see the line. Fortunately for us a party of two, we were seated within ten minutes! We had a sweet waitress who made great recommendations!! I have to say,Hands down this was the best crawfish this girl has ever had! The place is like being home in your back yard just chilling with friends eating crawfish! I ordered the 2 pounds of crawfish, 1 pound of shrimp, which can with 2 potato’s and one corn! I ordered it Spicy and spicy is was! My husband ordered 2 pounds of crawfish and red beans and rice extra spicy! It was definitely extra spicy but man it was good! The red beans and rice came in a bowl that we shared and were seasoned to perfection! Overall it was a great eating experience and we will definitely be back for another crawfish experience!!
Will always make the drive from Katy to Crosby for the best crawdads in Tejas. 2025: Update 4 years later, moved even farther now :(. Still my favorite spot, will make the drive every crawfish season. Tried dine in for the first time and I love it even more. 10s across the board. Keep it up folks!
Fantastic place. Crawfish was the best I have ever eaten. Dan and his wife are so gracious friendly and super nice hosts. Wait staff were very attentive helpful and friendly. Above all the crawfish and sauce was spicy delicious. Corn, mushrooms and spicy sausage was great. Too good. Will be back soon.
THE BEST!!! The flavor is amazing; it is sooo good. I arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't very busy. The place is open so it might be hot jn the summer. Good thing that they had many fans on the ceiling so it wasn't very hot.🔥 It wasn't even 5 minutes since I ordered (2 pounds of crawfish and 1 pound of shrimp) and all the food had arrived. Music was a bit loud in some moments but not disturbing. I strongly recommend this place for crawfish lovers like me ! 🤣
Hands down, this is the BEST crawfish outside of Louisiana. 3 seasons in a row, no other place we've tried has even come close to the flavor, price and size. The shrimp/crab/mushrooms are just average but who cares. We drive almost 50 minutes and it's worth it EVERY single time. Even though the pic shows some extra seasoning on the outside, they are cooked correctly with the flavor and seasoning penetrating the inside. If anybody ever leaves a review of less than 5-stars, they are simply ignorant and probably also enjoy Kroger boudin.
I love this place! My husband proposed to me on the way to "The Shack", (as we call it) which is our favorite spot for Crawfish. Oh and, the Crawfish is the best! The line is always long for entry but, definitely worth the wait. If you've never been to the Crawfish Shack, I suggest you go and, Enjoy!
This place is one of the best crawfish establishments I’ve been to and I’ve been to multiple over the years all over Texas. Our waitress was amazing, very attentive and friendly! The crawfish had amazing flavor and was super easy to peel. I cannot rave about this place enough and highly recommend this place to anyone looking to eat crawfish!
Great crawfish with a laidback atmosphere. Their flavor and seasoning is on point. The owner and all his staff are very friendly. Highly recommend and happy to support local businesses!
10/10 EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! 🔥🦞 Yes, the wait can look long, but don’t let that scare you the line moves fast and it is ALWAYS worth it. From the moment you walk in, the customer service is top tier. Every single employee is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to be there. You can tell they care about their customers. The place is super clean and organized, which we love. And the crawfish?! THE BEST. Big, juicy crawfish with perfect flavor every time. Not too salty, not bland just seasoned to perfection. It’s absolutely worth the drive and worth the wait. This is the ONLY place we come to for crawfish and nothing else compares! 🦞🔥
I’ve been here many many times in the past few years and it never disappoints. I honestly wish the season lasted longer because it’s so good. We drive a ways to get here, but it’s so worth it. Best crawfish around the Houston area. It’s a BYOB place which is nice. No outside drinks allowed either. Service is always good and the owner is very friendly. Always look forward to coming here! Can’t wait till next season! I’ll definitely be back many more times. Till next season!
Went for the first time on Friday around 5pm. Plenty of parking and a very short wait for a table but they did fill up fast. Our server took the time to explain the options to us. We had 8lbs of crawfish 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of crab legs seasoned LA medium(next time I'll order spicy). Everything was seasoned very well. This place is hands down the best I have had since moving to Houston. Make sure you give this place a try before the season ends. Don't forget BYOB!!!!
Birthday Celebration with Crawfish, Shrimp, Eteuffee, corn, potatoes and mushrooms, lots of butter and garlic butter was so good. Our server Luis was a dream, best server ever!! BYOB makes it so nice to be able to pair your favorite adult beverage with the best crawfish, etc in the area!! Ladies room is spacious. Hand washing station with the best handsoap for removing the crawfish smell from your hand.
Adding to the thousands of great reviews. This place is one you must try! Open for a very short time due to crawfish season of course. Opens the week after the Super Bowl and could stay open until middle of June also depending on those delicious mudbugs 🤣🤣🤣 If you live in Houston this is a must drive. I love my city and we have the best restaurants in the country, but for crawfish you must take the drive to little Crosby TX. Also an added plus they have BYOB! 😌
I absolutely loved the atmosphere and customer service! We were seated really fast, even Made accommodations for where we wanted to sit. The food took maybe 6 or 7 minutes to be placed on the table.. Very fast..YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS (BYOB)!! Food tasted great and crawfish, crabs & shrimps were large. Definitely going again..
My wife and I have been coming here for the last 12 years It's my favorite place to get crawfish actually its the only place i will eat Crawfish We try to make it out there 5-10 times a year Crawfish is always on point Atmosphere is festive I love the BYOB and having drink outside while we wait on our table They have made many upgrades over the years but haven't lost their original theme and Atmosphere Waitstaff is always fun and energetic Owners are very friendly It's always a fun trip when we get out there to Crosby for the Crawfish shack
This place is pack but its pack for a reason becuase the crawfish here is really good. For it being pack inside also, it was really quick to get a table. This place is byob. Our waiter attended to us really good. I would definately recommend this place #True Ratings Please Like and Share
This is the best crawfish place I have ever been too. It's hard to catch them open sometimes, because they can sell out quickly, but it is worth the effort.

The crawfish are just delicious!! I have yet to find a place that is better. I actually get them, and take them home to eat on my patio!
Everything from the food to the service! I really enjoy coming here! It's ambiance is immaculate.

Love the drive-thru convenience. They get busy but it's worth it! The crab legs are the best in Lufkin and the best price. Wednesday is boiled shrimp special price night. Pleasant service too! Hi…
Far from home but worth the drive. BYOB and expect a wait so get there early. Picnic table seating.
Food is always good here. Service is as well. It is an outdoors restaurant so if you enjoy that then the ambiance is nice too.
Food was delicious, very great service & clean establishment. prices and menu items are vast.
Delicious crawfish, great service and amazing owners!! Owner is a true Cajun and knows how to cook some AMAZING crawfish. It's BYOB so take your friends and your beer, you won't be disappointed!
Service and food was great. If I had a chance, I would love to eat there again. I ordered some crawfish, shrimp, and snow crab and it was definitely worth the price.
The crawfish was a good size for sure. But I was a bit disappointed with the spice. My wife got the chicken nuggets and fries. Both were undercooked and she ended up not eating anything.
Soooooo good! The flavor is great and I always sprinkle extra powder seasoning on top. Also you can ask for cups a butter to dip if you want. I love the mushroom because their soft but not mushy and they suck up so much flavor. We have got the crab legs as well and their always very meaty. Red beans and rice is ok for me but my husband loves them. Lines when they first open their drive thru are LONG like we went an hour and a half early and there were already 2 cars and by the time they opened it was out in the street(see pic) that's how good they are!!! When they open dine in wait goes quicker and its BYOB!
Big place original texan experience, not a great service, but i think the amount of people they serve is the cause. Nice flavor, the mushrooms absorv most of the hot spices, if you want it really hot ger more mushrooms, if you want it mild, skip mushroom and get some potatos. The crawfish size is more in the small size, but they are very tasty.
I'm from Louisiana so my standard for crawfish are pretty high. The crawfish is well seasoned and they're a decent size (I went towards the end of the season). It's also BYOB which I always appreciate. The only thing that's disappointing is the corn and potatoes had no seasoning whatsoever. I could give this place 5 stars if only they boiled the side with the crawfish.
I know this is a crowd favorite. Crawfish was good. Seasoning good. Spice level good. Good size and cooked well. We got there about 12:30 and did not have to wait. By time we left the wait line was long. As good as it was and as much as they hustle, I would not wait in line for it.
Yesss. Very good and well seasoned crawfish. I love that you can drive thru and pick up your bags of crawfish. Lots of extras to add to the bag also. We added boiled eggs, corn on the cob, mushrooms, potatoes and sausage. Everything was fresh and tasty. My only disappointment was the extra items mentioned above were put in a separate bag without seasoning.
It was ok. Drove from Missouri City to try it. Staff is professional. Very clean inside and out. Bathroom was not bad. The price is the best part along with the BYOB. Shrimp was boiled just right! However I don't think I'll make another trip...7 spice and BBs are better with seasoning. Just my opinion. OH and it was hot so ladies being your own personal fan.
The drive thru moved swiftly. They have a waitress taking orders up and down the line. Be sure to tip her! I ordered the Shack Trio to go. I have only one complaint. The potatoes are bland and hard. Those potatoes need seasoning. Otherwise, everything else was delicious.
My first time going... It was a great experience... Lots of people waiting to get in and the wait wasn't as long as expected.. our waitress was great.. took care of us and fun to deal with... Food was good and the atmosphere was enjoyable... We had be b7 lbs of crawfish MO SPICY.... ,. Also had a cup of gumbo... Which was good as well ... The gumbo was a slight bit burned but All in All was good.. crawfish also good.. wish the corn was already cut up but still good... If this was my place I would use zumo sausages but that's not to say the y had bad sausage... Just my feelings... I'll be back loved it... Harley was our waitress and she was great... Look forward to returning... 13 news was in the house and talking to everyone... Crawfish shack do what you do.. see you next time...
Place was packed but we still waited no longer than 5 minutes. Service was great. All staff we passed going in and coming out greeted us. No trouble finding a place to park. Food was cooked well. It’s just I’m from Louisiana I’m use to the seasoning being inside and not dusted on top. 8/10 I do recommend
Giving this place three stars overall. I have family members who Love/Worship this place, would patronize multiple times a week because they love it so much. I had an opportunity to visit with family recently and noticed so many things with a fresh perspective as I am no longer local. The number of times I noticed or my table endured anti-blackness in practice was astonishing. From their rules about party sizes, to how they engage with black people, to how they show respect of person for certain demographics, witnessing it happen while realizing the customers have allowed that behavior so it puts many people in an awkward position is telling. Honestly, as long as customers can pay their tab, and tip their waitress - why the additional rules that could turn away customers or leave a negative impression. Also, why intentionally wait until orders are placed and food is coming out to present a large party with a “problem” which compromises them and can’t leave?! I empathize and agree that every business has the right to create their business model and rules, but some things are beyond asinine. I mean the plethora of signs say it all and is rooted in many other things. Also, one of the owners has her customer service smile and facial expressions down to a science, which we saw right thru. Additionally, I get the impression that the owners lack the cultural competence and impact black people have made on the crawfish industry from the power of the black dollar and the way seafood is boiled - it’s black ancestors who created the very cooking format and legacy the owners benefit from and what’s been stolen and repurposed by non-black people claiming creole/cajun heritage. I hope management takes time to reflect on their business model and reconsider new plans. Don’t let the hatred leading this country influence business decisions. Target, Walmart and other businesses are feeling the impacts of wrong decisions. Do better and hire someone to come in to identify your bias.
Visited here many times throughout the years. Long wait times have always been a thing because of how packed it gets. I recently stopped by the drive thru and purchased ten pounds. I have never experienced this and don’t know if it’s normal but I had about 3 snails in my sack. Grossed me out.
This is usually my favorite go to place to get crawfish and the people are very friendly but yesterday I went right when they opened I got shack trio everything tasted dull. Corn wasn’t cooked all the way, the crab legs had green moldy like spots on the meat. Everything was mid. I’ll go again maybe a later time in the day
I know this is a crawfish shack, I made the mistake in thinking they know how to make gumbo! Please don't their gumbo. It has no flavor and taste boiled water with chicken and sausage . Their crab …
pure disappointment over priced under seasoned mostly frozen trash ... critter runners john es mud bugs and crawfish hideaway is by far a better option than the crawfish trash shack .. thats all they sell is over cooked frozen trash
Removing stars and never returning. Dan the owner responded to a comment I made on a crawfish group, and said they sell the big container of seasoning if I wanted more. SIR what?? If you’re going to sell 50 cent seasoning containers, FILL THEM UP! This is not for debate! I don’t need a 16 oz seasoning container for 4 pounds of crawfish! I don’t care if the individual seasoning was 1 cent. Don’t sell it if you can’t fill it up! You can’t even fill up the small individual one, now why would I feel intrigued to buy the 16 oz one??? They charge for seasoning but fill it up less than halfway. Which was disappointing. It was good none the less
Went there on 5/8/25. The Crawfish and our server was incredible. What wasn’t acceptable was the fact that we were sat in back with poor air circulation. We ask if we could have the fans turn on to not make it as hot and humid. They were never turn on based on the fact the couldn’t figure out how. Also When our food came out, we were swarmed with flies. To the point that you couldn’t even enjoy your meal because you’re too busy fighting them off and one even landed in our crawfish and got stuck in the crawfish juice.
A mixed bag seem like they don't bring their A game. All the time, 1st time was good but not great. 2nd time crawfish was dry and so was the sausage. Lacked flavor. Hope you guys always bring your a game every cook from now on .
An easy pass and a big NO. Will not visit again. Food had no flavor AT ALL. Although the crawfish were a nice size, they were super dry and flavorless. The shrimp and potatoes were also dry. I did spicy seasoning and didn't taste not one bit of spice. Our entire table complained about the food. I can't believe we wasted all that money. I will be sticking to my regular crawfish place. I was highly disappointed at this establishment being that someone recommended them to us :( WE INDEED COMPLAINED BUT SAID FORGET IT. The food just not it at all no matter which seasoning. All of us had different seasoning
When you call and ask about wait time and they tell you drive through has a line but inside is moving pretty quick so you make the 40 min drive there just for them to stop you in the parking lot and say no sir we didn't tell you that. Im done with this place. Mudbugs for me from now on they are better anyway. I'll 1 star you till the day I die.
Recently moved to Crosby and heard nothing but great things about this place. I was even more excited when I saw how crazy the lines were. The service was amazing, everyone was extremely nice and the line moved very quickly. Unfortunately the food was not up to par. I ordered 2 combos of crawfish, shrimp, corn, sausage, egg & mushrooms. Server recommended Medium LA seasoning for the most flavor so that’s what we ordered. If you are looking for spice it is here but if you are looking for flavor there is absolutely none. I really hoped to add this place to my roster of Crosby gems but unfortunately I don’t think I will return. The price I paid simply didn’t match the quality.
