Went on a quiet Thursday night for our anniversary. Vieux carre and tequila old fashioned cocktails were excellent. Fried okra and virt cajun egg rolls for apps were both very good as well and the serving sizes for both were large enough even sharing that we probably didn’t need both. My husband got the redfish special, cooked perfectly. I got shrimp and grits which had a very generous portion of shrimp. Bread pudding was good too, though I do prefer a whiskey sauce for some bite. Our server Ana and hostess Ramona were both lovely and I’m very glad with this we made for our anniversary date!
This was such a dope spot tucked away on the edge of Bishop Arts! It has a great New Orleans homestyle feel with a Bishop Arts touch. The food was outstanding and the chef took his time walking through some highlights of the menu along with explaining how they choose to use local ingredients for their dishes. Appreciate the chef interaction with guest! Bartender old fashions were def in my top 5 in the DFW area that I've had. We'll definitely swing back around soon.
This place has unreal hospitality. Absolutely one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. The Excutive Chef came out multiple times to interactive with the customers. Every single thing we ordered including the drinks was freaking delicious! This is beyond a five star experience.
We weren’t even going to this restaurant until I saw Vegan gumbo and the vegan sausage jambalaya. It was amazing. The owner talked with us and gave us a wonderful history of the name (Beatrice was her grandmother). And the Chef came out to see how we liked his homemade vegan sausage… delicious!! Highly recommend if you love good food.
Amazing crawfish.... flavorful and cooked to perfection. Best in Dallas so far. Patio was a vibe with great service and friendly customers! Had a whole conversation with the owner. Super personable and passionate I will be back this week!! ❤️ When you go to spot and the customers report going 4 days in a row and another couple came twice in one day! Must try! I heard the brunch- chicken, waffle, and shrimp & grits were all good entrees. I will be trying those soon! 😊
Service was great! I really enjoyed the Louisiana Charcuterie appetizer and the Crawfish Étouffée. The pickled watermelon was also different but amazingly good. The servers and bartenders did a great job of servicing everyone in timely fashion. I also thought it was pretty cool how the owner and chef both stopped by to introduce themselves and ask if everything was okay. Overall this place rocks and so does the food! I Will definitely be back in future.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Beatrice, and I must say that it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The service throughout the evening was impeccable, and I couldn't have asked for a better server than Peyton. Peyton's knowledge of the menu and his recommendations were outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, and took the time to ensure that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. His passion for the culinary arts was evident, and it added an extra level of enjoyment to our meal. I truly felt that he went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. As someone from Louisiana, I have high standards when it comes to food, particularly Cajun and Creole cuisine. I can confidently say that Restaurant Beatrice impressed me with their authentic flavors and attention to detail. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing the rich and bold flavors that I love. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was visually appealing. The drink selection at Restaurant Beatrice was also top-notch. The bar staff crafted creative and delicious cocktails that perfectly complemented our meal. Whether it was a classic cocktail or a unique creation, each drink was skillfully prepared and served with a smile. Overall, my dining experience at Restaurant Beatrice was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of outstanding service, impeccable drinks, and delicious food made for a truly memorable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a taste of Louisiana in a fine dining setting. Kudos to Peyton and the entire team at Restaurant Beatrice for a job well done!
Most delighted I’ve been by a meal in quite a while. Amazing combination of homey, neighborhood hot spot vibes and cooking that’s just a notch above anything else in Dallas right now. Gumbo, crawfish egg rolls, and fried chicken were all to die for, but honestly anything on the menu looks amazing. For dessert the praline cheesecake blew our minds
Came for Friday brunch/lunch. Every dish was superb. We were told patio is mostly meant for dinner time, but it was nice out (3/31/23 @ 11:30am) so they sat us and then more people ended up sitting outside too. Patio is hard-covered so even on sunny days you won’t fry from UV rays. Staff was prompt, helpful, and friendly.
Unbelievable brunch - probably best French toast we’ve ever had. Staff was extremely friendly and the GM/head chef stopped by multiple times to see if we needed anything. Such a cool and unique restaurant for the Dallas food scene - now easily one of our favorites in West Dallas. Can’t wait to come back for dinner!
I took my husband for his 40th birthday. We went on a Friday for brunch. Everything we had was absolutely fantastic. The biscuits with andouille gravy was so good we wolfed it down before I could snap a photo. The boudin balls on the Louisiana charcuterie board was the star of the appetizers. My husband had a delicious brunch burger on a cheddar jalapeño biscuit, and I had the French toast. I will dream about that French toast until I get a chance to go back. Service was also top notch, and the restaurant itself was super cute. I can’t wait to go back for one of the boils.
From the moment we were seated at the bar, the staff was on point. It is a relatively small place but we were focused on the way they all worked together. Started with a pineapple margarita mixed right in front of us, and a Blanton’s on the rocks with the big ice cube. On to appetizers we had the roasted oysters. They were topped with a dollop of hot sauce to top it off. The catfish atchafalaya with an add on of crawfish didn’t disappoint. The crawfish like the oysters were so sweet. Shrimp and grits was our other choice and the grits didn’t let me down. So smooth and creamy, just right to offset the spicy nature of the shrimp. Combined in one bite they were amazing. For dessert I had a Kings Cake Milk Punch. Perfect ending to a delicious meal that was beyond our expectations.
We had a delicious brunch at Beatrice. I would spend more time detailing each dish but the menu is constantly refreshed. Drinks were top shelf and inventive. Deviled eggs were delicious, which is notable since we order them out quite a bit. We had catfish and grits and breakfast po boys. The bread pudding was terrific. Loved the New Orleans vibe and informed service. We can’t wait to come back. 💜
I took my wife here as a surprise after a work trip to get her away from the kids for a night. The restaurant is on the smaller side which felt cozy and the decor was tasteful. The menu was concise but touched on something for everyone. We started with a sazerac and Hurricane which were both outstanding. We did the Beatrice buttermilk salad and were very pleased. Salad was dressed perfectly in a creole ranch dressing and all the topping played well together. the fried okra was a welcome innovation that really gave this salad character visually. We also did the charbroiled oysters and highly recommend as a starter. For mains my wife did the Catfish Atchafalaya. The fried fish and crawfish étouffée balanced each other well. I did the fresh catch which supports a fishing family in Galveston (who have been able to purchase a 2nd boat due to this partnership) It was blackened and served over a bed of mashed potatoes and veggies. This dish has soooooo much flavor. It got a little salty in some thicker areas but overall would absolutely order this again. We finished with the praline bread pudding with praline ice cream. YOU MUST leave room for this specifically. It’s made to order but as the menu states - very much worth the wait. This is a restaurant that gets programming right in all areas. The restrooms were the one low point needing some attention. The service was great with the GM personally checking in at the end of the meal and sharing a bit about the restaurant. The culinary philosophy is well intentioned and hits the mark in taste, temp, and presentation. We will be back!!
Absolutely loved this restaurant for brunch and a short drive away from the madness in Bishop arts. We ordered shrimp beignets, duck confit, crab cake Benedict’s, cinnamon roll, and their old fashioned. The chefs, servers and owners were all extremely kind and provided awesome service. Definitely stop by this gem when you’re in Oak Cliff!
Amazing food. Had the shrimp and grits, strawberry salad, and bread basket for brunch for two. The iced tea and Arnold Palmer were excellent, especially the Arnold Palmer with lemonade from the Oak Cliff Cane Sugar Soda. The grits had a nice texture with a cheese taste. On top was a sauce with some light Cajun spices and the shrimp was large, fresh, grilled to perfection with some good Cajun spice. I loved the bread basket with the jam and sugar butter. The salad was fresh, simple and delicious. Definitely cleaned my plate and will be back soon. By the way, the atmosphere is great. Casual outside and fancy inside.
Great experience. Food was amazing and Definitely a true creole dish. Very flavorful. The only reason I gave the service a four star is because the hostess was insisting I sit at a table when I told her multiple times I would prefer the bar. It was a little uncomfortable moment. Other than that the food was amazing and the bartender and older white woman was lovely and had great energy.! great way to end a long day of work! Can’t wait to go back and have another solo dinner here 💖🫶🏽
Unforgettable. We were not only stunned by carefully crafted and seasonally inspired menu, but our waiter Shomari was half of the experience. He was so well knowledgeable with the menu, and personally attentive and quite charismatic. Wonderful personality and table side manner. Wish we could take him back to Columbus Ohio with us and be our waiter everywhere. The owner ( I believe ) also stopped by our table and made sure everything was satisfactory and offered genuine hospitality as well. The cuisine, service, and ambience were all in harmony and top notch. Highly recommend.
Amazing date night with the spouse. Food was spot on and drinks were OMG. Our waiter Lara was awesome and gave great insight on all the meals. We were informed they consistently update their menu base on season. My wife had the Shrimp and grits and I had the Catfish with crawfish etoufee. Will return again for brunch and lunch. This place is a hidden dfw gem!
Had lunch here on Friday. Just a heads up they serve their brunch menu during lunch. Gumbo was really good, more of a broth and less creamy. I had the fried chicken and waffle. Both were really good especially with the flavored butter and picked veggies. Kinda wanted to eat their dinner menu so will have to come back at night.
Very cool spot. Casual but upscale French bistro with attentive service. I like the big patio/porch. Service was very friendly and helpful, if a bit (French-ish) slow. Worthy of praise for great seafood, wine, and cocktails.
We saw this place on Dallas eater and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. There was a glitch in system allowing us to get reservation at 430 before they open at 5. The team opened early due to the error just for us. Sage was fantastic as our waitress. We had the fried green tomatoes that were packed with flavor. For main course we had shrimp and grits and braised short ribs. The shrimp and grits were really good but the braised short ribs may have been one of the better meals my wife and I have ever had. Friendly staff. Overall fantastic experience. We will be back.
So good! Went for brunch. Everyone from the hostess to the Chef was so welcoming and nice. I had the chicken and waffles and it was unlike any chicken and waffles I've tasted. The flavors were fantastic and worked so well together. I tried some of the gumbo and it was amazing as well. We will return for the dinner menu!
Beatrice restaurant has some delicious Cajun food with a beautiful atmosphere and decor. Some of the best French toast I’ve had in my life and some damn good chicken and waffles. Extremely authentic and extremely flavorful. They also hosted us for a large birthday party—17 people—and handled it SO well. The chef made the food for all of us so efficiently but without compromising that amazing flavor. We felt very finely attended to by the waitstaff, who were very attentive and thoughtful. What a marvelous experience this was.
My wife and I went to Restaurant Beatrice for our anniversary and had an amazing time! The service and food were excellent. Absolutely the best gumbo in Dallas. Can’t wait for their upcoming Bastille Week event in July.
Wow. 10/10. Service was incredible. Our Server, Phil, knew the menu well and explained thoroughly to us as first time guests. Most everything is farm (their own farm) fresh. We ordered way too much food, not knowing how generous the portions, but so glad we got to taste a lot of different things.
I found this restaurant on TikTok. The waitress named Becca was absolutely amazing 🤩. She knew the menu backwards and forwards. She was very attentive, patient, and helpful. She gave us some history on the restaurant The food and service was amazingly immaculate. They also wiped the crumbs off the tables during our stay. The hurricane drink was also delicious. We will be back. Thanks Becca!!!
Went for a birthday last week and had a great time! Food was absolutely delicious and I had the best sazerac I’ve had in years! We had oysters, gumbo, redfish, and shrimp and grits. Very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Very intimate setting and the staff was kind and professional. Please try this place if you haven’t! We will be back next time we are in town!
Had the privilege of dining here last year on Mardi Gras right before Valentine's Day and our courses were to die for. Finally was in town again this year for the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras parade and decided to treat myself to some eats on their patio. I just love this spot - I LOVE how everything tastes (they're not shy with the seasonings and flavours) and I love the level of service here. I also love that they re-designed a historic property into their lovely establishment. The owner and GM here are just lovely and so are all the other employees. Highly recommend their Pimms and French 75 cocktails, the gumbo, and the fried chicken. Please keep supporting local businesses, especially ones like Restaurant Beatrice that also help support local farms (s/o to Joppy Mama Farms)!!!
Dined her last night with group of 6. Excellent experience! Great ambiance. Staff were superb and offered great suggestions. The chef was personable and we chatted with him before we were sat at our table, he offered his favorite recommendations, told us the story of starting the restaurant. Fried chicken and crab cakes were the groups favorite. Would highly recommend.
Just got home after having the BEST time at Restaurant Beatrice! The service was impeccable. Our server was so great and super thoughtful! I wish I remembered her name. We started out by ordering the crab beignets and fried ribs as an appetizer, then followed that up with the fried chicken platter and catch of the day. At the end of dinner we decided on bread pudding. Everything was so so good! Can’t wait to come back.
Had dinner here while I was in Dallas for just one night. Gumbo was soooo good. I got a cup of it, wish I had gotten a bowl. The red beans and rice had just been reintroduced to the menu. I love crispy pork belly, and they serve the red beans and rice with plenty of it. A tangy cup of peach cobbler topped with strawberries, Henry’s vanilla ice cream and mint finished my meal. In front of the restaurant is a great covered outdoor space with tables set up for the boil. It wasn’t offered the night I was there. Inside the restaurant is very comfortable with just two rows of tables with chairs down the middle and bench seating on the edges. Intimate, but wasn’t too loud.
Among my favorite restaurants in Dallas. A great, elevated take on Louisiana / New Orleans cuisine. Good atmosphere, good service, great food. Would recommend everything on the menu - especially the fried chicken (just trust me there). Have been many times. Want to attend a crawfish boil at some point.
Perfect portions & food was beyond amazing! Perfect espresso martini & the beignets were better than any we have ever had from Louisiana 😻
During our delightful dining experience at Beatrice, the service provided by our waiter, Ana, truly stood out and played a significant role in elevating our evening. Her attentiveness and warm demeanor ensured that we felt exceptionally welcomed and cared for, from the moment we were seated until our departure. Ana’s insightful recommendations, including the freshest oysters, savory jambalaya, and the exquisitely prepared beef with mushroom raviolis, significantly enhanced our culinary journey. Moreover, the chef’s personal visit to our table further emphasized the establishment’s commitment to guest satisfaction. Ana’s exemplary service, combined with delicious food and a convivial atmosphere, made our visit to Beatrice remarkably memorable, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience.
Dined at Beatrice and was blown away by the innovative Cajun fusion dishes - every bite was a delight. The quality of food is top-notch, blending traditional flavors with creative twists perfectly. What truly stood out was the exceptional service; our server Ana was attentive, accommodating all our requests with a smile, making our experience truly memorable. Highly recommend for an unforgettable culinary adventure!
Came for a last minute date night dinner. Great ambiance. They really made the most of the space in the building. Had a lovely wine and my date had an espresso martini. Loved the preparation for the broiled oysters. Vegan gumbo was delicious. We shared the shrimp and grits and I almost cried it was so good. Looking forward to trying other menu items.
My husband took me to Restaurant Beatrice for my birthday and it was great! Our first visit and it will not be our last. The food was delicious and clearly cooked with love and amazing flavor. Servings were generous, service was impeccable. Thank you for a great birthday dinner!
Birthday dinner here was incredible. The drinks and food was absolutely pristine, made my wife and I miss New Orleans. Specifically the chicken gumbo and the grits with piquant sauce, I'll be thinking of that one for days.
The menu was crafted so beautifully and was so unique. Loved everything we ate. Nice ambiance for a date night for dinner and drinks!
What an amazing evening! Food was wonderful, and that holiday Cosmo is just what Santa Ordered! Thank you, Ramona :) for being such a lovely hostess.
We went to the restaurant on a recommendation from a local. We were on vacay and love to explore new places. The food was absolutely delicious. You have to get the fried chicken and the shrimp amd grits were the best I've ever had. The strawberry lemonade was made from scratch and not too sweet. My only regret.was being too full to try dessert.
Restaurant Beatrice in Bishop Arts is hands-down one of my favorite local spots. The food is always *fresh, packed with flavor,* and leaves a lasting impression long after the meal is over. I love it so much that there are weeks when I find myself going twice—and I’m not the only one. Every friend or family member I’ve taken has instantly become a fan. The service is just as impressive as the food. Queen is one of the servers I always ask for, and she makes the experience even better. She knows the menu inside and out, and because I’m a regular, she can pretty much predict what I’ll love. Her recommendations are always spot on, and she has a way of making every visit feel personal. If you live in or near Bishop Arts, you *need* to make this your go-to dining spot. I’ll keep coming back, and I highly recommend you do the same!
Hands down one of the best experiences! Walked up and ready to walk away because it didn’t seem like vibe but a team member saw and invited us in anyway. The team tonight? experienced, engaging and down right awesome. They didn’t skip a beat, and made us feel like we’ve been coming for years. Highly recommend, listen to the bartenders recommendations they know best. Definitely adding this place to date night rotation. Raj? The bartender, lesle server? If I messed up your names I’m so sorry. You two are amazing and the perfect example of the importance of guest experiences!
Recently visited for the 2nd time a year after our first visit. Really enjoyed everything including the expertly produced cocktails. The atmosphere inside was lovely and homey. I had the fried chicken which I really enjoyed. It was delicious. We noticed that the tables are close together so it might get loud as the area inside is not very big. It wasn't an issue for us since we had an early dinner and there weren't many people inside at the time we were there.
Food is excellent. Went for Sunday brunch and unfortunately I got my appetizer an hour after I ordered it, and after my entree. Something about there were super busy even though there were lots of open tables. The people there were super nice, just didn’t seem to have it all together. Would have been 5 stars and hoping this was an anomaly so I can try this place again. The catfish and grits and oysters were 🔥!
We really enjoyed this spot! My friend had already been here before and said they had delicious chargrilled oysters topped with greens. Unfortunately this time there were no greens, and 3 of our oysters were burnt. However when we mentioned this, they brought out 6 fresh ones! The oysters on the half shell were tasty but very expensive for the size. Our waiter was wonderful and the chef came out and checked on us. The star of the show was the DELICIOUS spicy marg that had a touch of their house made hot sauce in it. Get it... it's so freaking good! Lastly we had the Peach cobbler, it was a little soft for my taste... no crispy edges or crust. It reminded more of a brown apple betty but without the crispy topping. Overall, it was a great spot. I'll definitely be back!
Had brunch here. The quality and presentation of the food is great- service was friendly and attentive, but everything was uncoordinated, and the bar was slow. The drink menu is a little pretentious (even in 2022, a Tito’s Bloody Mary shouldn’t be $15 under any circumstances), but the cocktails were all perfect.
Decided to try Restaurant Beatrice for our anniversary for 2 reasons, they were to receive a James Beard award for best new resturant (Our wedding party was at a Quebec Michelin Star winner 26 years ago. So this is a tradition of trying recognized resturants we try to maintain on our anniversary.) We started off with cocktails, the pineapple margarita was well constructed and enjoyed, the Bloody Mary itself was also well made, however the glass rim was encrusted with salt and hot pepper which over loaded the bloody Mary and the taste was lost. Appetizer was fried green tomatoes, cornmeal coating was perfection, a must order, however, as that the jelly must be on the side, ours had a bit too much jelly spread on the tomatoes. Main courses, praline pain Perdue were delicious. The vegan jambalaya consisted of vegan sausage that was over salted in its making. The rice and okra were perfect. We did not order dessert. We will return to resturant Beatrice.
We got oysters, grits and pasta— oyster tasted like oysters. Grits was very good. Pasta was too thick and salty. And service was extremely slow.. overall, I would probably comeback when I crave for cajun restaurants, but just the service was so so soooo slow that kinda makes me not wanting to go back. Also, it’s quite pricey compared to what you get. Like, almost not worth the price.. I don’t mind spending hundreds and thousands of money for good food, but felel skeptical for this one unfortunately. Also, the parking! They do have shared parking lot right next to them, but it’s so tiny. Not even valet here so.. if you don’t want a parking hassle during busy time, pass it. Hope next time is better (if I ever come back)!
This is a lovely little spot. I love the story behind the food and the sustainability aspect. While I can’t find the exact name of the menu item now because it is a seasonal menu and I dined here in December 2024, I had what a recall to be a poached pear salad that was out of this world. So so good. I also really enjoyed the bread basket. I would like to return to try more menu items.
Lovely menu and cozy, living-room vibe—perfect for a birthday brunch. Highly recommend the smoked oysters, shrimp and grits, and fried tomatoes. The staff was charming and service excellent. Atmosphere gets four stars only because it was quite cold and some of us were shivering. We will definitely make reservations to experience the dinner menu.
I’ve tried twice. I want to like it, but I have been disappointed, especially considering the prices. My husband is an actual Cajun from Pontchatoula, LA, and he hated it. I liked it ok, but it’s trying too hard. It’s bougie without the food to back it up.
The service was on point. Ambiance had hints of fine dining. However, the food was quite the disappointment. I've read some great reviews and some not so great about this food, but I wanted to support the business. Unfortunately, the food was just mediocre. Extremely grateful for the vegan options. The flavor of the vegan sausage was divine. It appears burnt on the photo, but it has a smoky flavor. So, I am inclined to believe it was smoked. However, it was a bit tough/chewy. It's definitely not worth $26 for the portion. The catfish was fried so hard. When you tapped a fork on the entree, it sounded like a rock. It even looked a bit overcooked. The drinks were cute and presented nicely, but they didn't hit the mark for flavor in our opinion. They also charge you for anything extra you ask for. I just feel as if the waiter should notify the patron beforehand there is a charge for extra sauce, syrup, etc. Overall, just go see for yourself. You may enjoy it.
Food was stellar! I loved the gastrique and was taking my potatoes 🥔 on a nascar drive through the remaining juices left on the plate. BTW, I had the duck confit and cleared the plate… I do feel like the reason that was is because portions are kind of small. For $30 I got one duck leg and 3 potato cracklings. Also although there was 1 large party and 2- 2 top tables drinks were taking an exponentially long time to come out (15-20) minutes. Follow me on all socials: @dafoodiebaddie I was also there for my birthday! Most establishments (while I know not every one will) do a birthday celebration or bring out a special dessert. I didn’t get any of that. Making it not the greatest place to have a celebration if that’s apart of what you look forward to when you dine for special occasions.
Third times the charm? We are back and had the pleasure of spending New Year’s Eve dinner at restaurant Beatrice in Dallas Texas. Met with Southern cuisine and fine dining paired with a lieu of cocktails that will have you rethinking that New Year’s resolution. However, at some points the service felt a little rushed, and the kitchen seemed to be channeling some extra New Year's energy, resulting in a slight appetizer adventure. We're definitely coming back for round two – we're calling it our "Beatrice: The Remix" tour. Sidenote: “Do you want your cornbread?? Why yes for $140, what’s an extra 4 or 5? We would have love some especially with how great their gumbo is! Troux!!!! Until next time Beatrice. 🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️
Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess wasn't that friendly. The drinks, oysters, and egrolls were amazing. The catfish and dirty rice: rice was dry and catfish had zero seasoning. Totally disappointed. Shrimp and grits: I was expecting more on flavor. The red beans and cornbread dish: like the concept but...no. The servers were nice. Those oysters were the best I've had hands down. I'd only return for that and the drinks.
Was pretty disappointed about this experience. I chose this place to take my date who is a chef- I expect her to be critical of anyplace but I know she loves to try a new place- and we are "tasters" who like to order a variety of items to try. I'll start by giving credit where credit is due- the cornbread was incredible and the fried green tomatoes and peppers were delicious. The Praline syrup was also delicious. But, the catfish was overly seasoned with chili powder, the waffle was poor quality, and the absolute deal breakers were this- I could not for the life of me get refills on my iced tea and my chicken had blood in the middle- my date brought it to the attention of the staff and the kitchen wanted to argue the chicken was indeed done it was just a vein that popped- the staff did not bring my dinner back, did not offer to replace it, did not take it off the bill- and I left hungry after spending $100 for two people without any alcohol. It's not an easy business but you do have to make an effort.
Our server J was exceptional. The food however just ok. The french toast tasted good but nothing you couldnt get at IHOP. The tornado omelet was a complete let down. It was just jambalaya topped with an egg and like a ragu sauce surrounding it. Fried green tomatoes seemed to be overly salted as well.
Ate here last night (07/23/2024) for my birthday. Ten people total, first time customers. I have to say I'm torn on this one. The food was good, in some instances very good. The service though? Yeesh. We had 8:00 reservations and arrived at 7:50. The restaurant had maybe two other tables who were wrapping up their meals. Our waiter does not come by the table until 8:10. He tells us the specials but does not take our drink orders. He does not come by again until 8:25. By that time the entirety of our party had arrived so he repeats the specials, but again does not take any orders. Finally around 8:35 he takes drink orders which do not arrive until 8:50, so an entire hour since we've arrived. At that point he takes the food orders and service begins to pick up. However, feeling ignored and thirsty for an hour before the first order hits the table doesn't sit well. Food arrived fairly quickly, but by that time we were the only table in the restaurant. Taste wise, it was good. Most people seemed to enjoy it for the most part. I know one person at our table thought his steak was salty and the three who ordered the red beans and rice all said it came out cold. I had a pork cheek which I liked but the cream peas that were served with it were weirdly hard, like undercooked hard. Also, they were out of the cheesecake, so no dessert. I'd heard a lot of buzz about this place and was eager to try it. Not sure if I want to go back though.
$26 for four over cooked chicken legs? Give me a break. $30 for fancy red beans and rice? It was good but glad I wasn't paying.
The atmosphere and wait staff was wonderful. Our server Brennan was kind and attentive. I tried the market catfish and grits and wasn’t impressed. The catfish was good but there were bites of my grits that were still crunchy and hard. Which for paying $26 for an entree is disappointing.
We picked Restaurant Beatrice for the vegetarian options that the menu offered. We looked at the menu online that day (which they note changes often) and saw both the vegan gumbo and vegan jambalaya on the menu. When we arrived, the vegetarian options were pea soup and a root hash with a veggie sausage. We were super disappointed with the dish that came out. It was baked carrots/root veggies seasoned in just salt with a mediocre and dry sausage. Vegetarian food can be flavorful and delicious - this was not at all. No sauce, glaze, or anything to add flavor. This type of dish is what makes meat eaters think vegetarian food is bland/bad. This dish was priced higher than the fried chicken which was confusing (see picture) for it lacking flavor. The meat eaters in our group had the fried chicken and enjoyed the dish as well as the mac n' cheese. I will say the service was superb and the waiters/staff were all very kind and friendly.
I was looking forward to eating here, but it fell short for me. Started with oysters which were fine but would've preferred mignonette that wasn't frozen. Bread basket felt overpriced for the small portions, the hushpuppies were smaller than my thumbnail and overcooked on the outside but undercooked on the inside. My date had shrimp and grits which he said tasted good but used small shrimp. I had purple hull peas and rice. It had a hunk of pork belly but otherwise had zero flavor. No one ever asked if we liked the food. I was almost done with my meal when I finally got the waiters attention and asked for hot sauce. He brought over a little bowl of something that smelled like bbq sauce and then charged me $2 for it. Next time I'd bring my own bottle of Cajun Chef, but I don't think there will be a next time. Food aside, the restaurant was overrun with flies and it was uncomfortably warm inside. I wish I had a different experience.
I ordered Biscuits n gravy with Louisiana slow pulled pork and I didn't receive the pulled pork. My daughter ordered French Toast w/Brioche bread and one side was badly burnt. It looked like French bread. As I left to walk down steps I touched the handrail and it broke. I didn't fall, but It definitely scared me.
Will not return. I really wanted to like this place. I took my daughter for a quick birthday dinner and the food was unseasoned and cold. Ordered the fried chicken, which was hot but near flavorless. Several pieces were completely bloody, which we pointed out to the (very nice) server, with no response. Also ordered the mushroom gumbo- which had no flavor- the very dry and cold red beans and average creamed greens. I had planned to order dessert, but decided to give up after two disappointing courses. We were the only two patrons, which I understand after tonight’s meal. Nice atmosphere and service. Extremely disappointing food. I could not connect any items to Cajun cuisine. $140 for the meal and one cocktail. Not concerned about the price but expected more flavor and execution based on the reviews.
Extremely disappointed in the service. The food is very good but given the service, no one in our group is planning on returning. I understand a big party of 10 can be overwhelming, but our server didn’t try to take drinks until 24 minutes into our reservation. Even when we had 8/10 people at the table (2 minutes after 8pm), he kept waiting to take our drink order. Then they put in all 10 drinks at the same time, and it was another 20 minutes until we received them. To be fair, cocktails were good and well received by the group. Our main order wasn’t taken until almost 40 minutes into our reservation. The restaurant had a few tables but it wasn’t outrageously busy. There was no visible reason for the lack of attentiveness. Most of the party was very happy with their food. (One of the red beans and rice was served cold, and one other red beans was lukewarm.) We love to support local businesses, especially women owned. However, the service was such a fail that we won’t be returning.
My birthday was ruined. This place deserves negative stars. Extremely overpriced. Service 1/10. Food 2/10. Ambiance 2/10 black paper wallpaper and funeral like menu print out I can’t describe how depressing it was. The service was very subpar. Our waiter Phil was nice, but was not trained properly. He mentioned an a la carte menu but when asked to see the menu with prices he said “the menu and prices are all in my head”. He told us he could put us together a sampler but didn’t tell us that the “sampler” was just all the appetizers at full price on a big plate. What a “sampler”. He then tells us it is $14 for an a la carte side of 1 PIECE just 1!!! Of fish or chicken. What kind of a la carte is that? When the 3 piece chicken is 27$ how does 1 piece equate to 14? Ridiculous. We got the “sampler” which was $75 worth of bland food. Boudin balls 2/10 tasteless just dirty rice and meat in a thick crust of ball 3 for $16. Fried green tomatoes were decent but had catfish batter. The okra had catfish batter as well. Very underwhelming overall and disappointing. Got sides of sauce etc for our apps because we ordered 5 apps and they gave us only 3 sauces. They charged for all the sauces totaling about $10 extra dollars. We ordered martinis including a lychee martini had no actual lychee just sweet lychee syrup that was disgusting. Ordered olives with our martinis that were $4 extra each drink just for CANNED OLIVES. Never once did Phil our server tell us any of this was extra. Now on to the entrees. I had a party of 6 and only 2 people liked their food. We ordered the catfish atchefalya $36 for a small piece of catfish and rice. Very bland rice, sauce had no flavor and smallest crawfish I’ve seen. The actual catfish was ok but only 1 small piece is not worth the price. The mamaws chicken $27 for 3 prices of dark meat (crazy) was RAW!! I will include pictures at the end. With the chicken i got 2 sides peas and green beans. The peas and greens were unbearably salty we couldn’t eat more than 1 bite. Sent them back before our blood pressure skyrocketed. Meanwhile, the black tall woman who is a GM or manager of some sort is walking around the restaurant like everything is ok. Never comes over to check on us, only comes to take my raw chicken plate back to the kitchen. Doesn’t come back to check on us, apologize or make sure our experience was better. She constantly stared and rolled her eyes at our table, and was very dismissive during this whole experience. Here’s the kicker, when it was time to checkout it was a complete disaster. We asked for the bill, it was all on 1 check. Never did the waiter ask if it was all together or separate at any point which if you know you know, that’s the first thing you ask the table. Apparently there’s a $3 or 3% split fee. Whatever we didn’t care we just wanted to get out of there. 45 MINUTES LATER the waiter still was sorting our bill. Finally the GM after leaving her server struggling this whole time came to help him and still took forever as she started getting frustrated at him. Imagine terrible service, food and then having to wait almost an hour to checkout. This isn’t even all of our experience here but terrible experience and birthday. I have no idea how this restaurant is still open. Shut it down.
Cute concept. But the food is absolutely 💯 horrible. How do you mess up fried catfish or chicken? No one in my party of 4 could eat any of the food that was ordered. You couldn't even fix it if you took it home and doctored it . The only edible item was the lemonade, which was just ok. I don't know how these people are still in business. Horrible service, but it seems as if they already knew the food was horrible and was like, why try to help or serve you. Try at your own risk. You have been warned.
We came in search of southern and Creole food because we love NOLA and the flavors from the food. Growing up in Destin, I would frequent NOLA because it is so close by, so I was excited to try out this resistant because I haven’t found a place that reminds me of New Oreleans. The food was great, and our sever, Lara, was amazing! We were chatting with her and Irene about neighboring businesses and life, as well as the food here. They were absolutely fabulous from the time we entered the restaurant to our first appetizers. Unfortunately, this is where it all went downhill. It has nothing to do with them, either. The general manager, black woman with shorter hair- named Romana should not be working in the food industry AT ALL. Her interaction with my husband alone and then with the two of us together was negative. She has an attitude no has nothing but excuses. She’s like a teenager, unwilling to take responsibility for their actions. We went from wanting to come back to the restaurant to not even wanting to START our meal THAT JUST ARRIVED, so we boxed it up to go. I’m not sure how someone so miserable as Romana can work in this industry and keep a job with satisfactory ratings. Please keep whatever is going on outside of work because it has a negative impact on your patrons, Ramona. Irene and Lara were professional and kind the entire time, even after we spoke directly with Romana, who seems to be the sore thumb at this establishment. I cannot recommend this place if Ramona is working here, sadly.
The experience I had today at the restaurant was horrible. First off we came for the Catfish which they didn't have. Not sure why when it's the second best thing on the menu. All of the food lacked flavor and was either to salty or under seasoned and not cooked. I got my daughter a side of fried chicken and this is no lie the chicken was crispy and bloody at the same time! The server tried to tell me that its supposed to be pink in the middle! I'm a chef myself and it was the most ignorant thing I had ever heard. I'm not sure how this place will survive even the next two years seeing as the menu constantly changes, and the flavors are not consistent.
We came here for a birthday dinner and saw our server a total of maybe 4 times throughout what turned into a 3 hour dinner because they took so long to take our orders. The food was pretty decent and my friend who coordinated the dinner left a review to express his disappointment. In response, the restaurant has not apologized but instead blamed us for the miscommunication. For a party of 10, with how much we spent, you would think they’d be more considerate but alas. They will not take responsibility for their faults. They have copy and pasted their response to another review. No accountability seen. Do not come here. Their fish was good, that’s the one good thing I’ll say.
Restaurant Beatrice was an absolute disaster! I am a New Orleans native and I was really excited to taste New Orleans food but unfortunately the food here was bland and under whelming. I had the fried catfish on the bed of crawfish etouffee with an additional blackened shrimp but the food was extremely bland. The crawfish was tiny and if I didn't add the additional shrimp I wouldn't have had any seafood at all on the plate excluding the fried catfish The only food highlights of the night were the non-vegan egg rolls that was stuck with andouille sausage and crawfish, that was excellent and also the praline ice cream that was made in house along with the red pudding. I was super impressed with those items however the price does not reflect the taste and experience that I received. Lastly, check out and check service was excruciating! We had four individuals and although they take four different payments they will only split it equally but some people came with cash and they blatantly said they don't make change. How do you run a restaurant and do not give change? This absolutely left a horrible taste in my mouth along with the bland food. I think this restaurant can improve on their checkout service, reducing prices to reflect the food and increasing flavor. I was highly confused by the high ratings because I was excited to taste this place but extremely disappointed when I was experiencing it for myself. Zero out of 10 would not recommend..
This was the most disturbing interaction I’ve ever had with a restaurant manager. Ramona didn’t just behave poorly — she behaved deliberately cruel. She took my drink while I was still drinking it, ignored me when I asked for it back, and walked away like I wasn’t human. No explanation. No apology. Just intentional disregard. When the drink was returned, she dropped it on the table and stared with open hostility. I complimented the food — she responded with a glare so cold it felt like kindness offended her. When my wife calmly asked to speak with her about how uncomfortable she was making us feel, Ramona stared at her with small, lifeless eyes, rolled her eyes, and smirked like the discomfort was the point. No empathy. No concern. Just a blank, predatory stare — the kind that makes your skin crawl. When told that behavior like this doesn’t belong in the service industry, her response was simple: “I don’t care.” And that said everything. This wasn’t stress. This wasn’t a bad night. This was someone who clearly enjoys power without responsibility and treats people with quiet contempt. Her presence sucked the warmth out of the room. The food was excellent. The waitress was wonderful. But one person managed to poison the entire experience. I genuinely feel sorry for the owners. An establishment this good deserves better than a manager who seems to take pleasure in being hostile to guests.
