Arriving at Thai 9, we were a little confused as the outdoor entrance is very modest and hidden. Entering the facility though, you will be quick to find out how amazing this place is inside. It’s beyond beautiful and I have still been thinking about it since it went. We were greeted by a friendly worker and were sat promptly. The menu is very big which can always be a little alarming at first, but this is not an issue with this restaurant. We started out with crab Rangoons which were cooked to perfection and the doughy/crunchy texture with the generous filling was amazing! It was lunch time so we ordered one of their lunch specials which included 5 nigiri and a roll. The 5 nigiri were all so very fresh but I have to note that the salmon and white tuna were extra excellent. Also, for my entree I ordered their Pad Sea Ew and my buddy ordered pad Thai. They both came out in a timely manner. Both entrees were easily the best of their kind that we’ve both had. The portions sizes were beyond generous. The spice level can be high but they make you aware of this. I absolutely loved this place coming from an absolute Thai and seafood lover. The absolute game changer though was the price. It was 22 dollars for the pad sea ew and the sushi special which is an absolute steal. Everything was fresh and flavorful! I want to emphasize that waitress Claire was beyond amazing and friendly. Waiter Rob/Ron i don’t remember exactly was also very professional as well. This restaurant is the whole bundle. I will 100% be back here! KUDOS!
This place is my favorite place to eat if you’re anywhere near Dayton. The staff have always been nice the food has always been wonderful, and the restaurant it self is beautiful. Im only writing the review now because this is the first time I was able to get some pictures before we all demolished our food. There are literally no bad choices as to what to eat here but there is one required one, you have to get the FBI- its on the dessert menu- its I kid you not the one thing that actively haunts me and forces me to make the drive from where I live in Cincinnati. Entres are around 15-20 a person Apps around 8 Dessert 7
One of my favorite local spots for lunch. The Pad See Ew is my go to but all their food is excellent!
Thai-9 is a lovely atmospheric restaurant on the outskirts of the Oregon district. I went here after hearing about it from some friends so we decided to check it out. The food here is good and you get a reasonable quantity for the price you pay. I tried the roulette roll and the Thai 9 Special roll and they were decent quality but not super impressive. The Gyoza however was one of the best I’ve had in the Dayton area! I don’t recommend this place as a get together spot as it’s a bit too loud when it gets busy and it may be difficult to hear. Definitely a fun spot to come in and dine though!
Went to Thai 9 last night with my boo...DELICIOUS! Thai 9 is my favorite spot when I want something amazingly tasty AND spicy. Not too many places will make it as hot as I like it. (Of course not making it so hot it ruins the dish.) Thai 9 Pepper Garlic Chicken, level 3 (left), and Thai 9 Spicy Beef level 9 (right). SO GOOD!
We enjoyed visiting Thai 9 during our stay in Dayton! We ordered the Summer rolls, chicken udon soup, chicken khao soy curry. We all enjoyed our food immensely- so delicious!! The homemade peanut sauce with the summer rolls is the perfect appetizer! The khao soy curry was so flavorful! And my son loves udon so it was a perfect place for mother and son date! Our server was very helpful and attentive! We also loved the space and decor. There is a large indoor seating area, a more private upstairs dining area, and an outdoor patio. Parking is available on the street or in the parking lot behind the building (free from 4 am - 4 pm, $3 for a couple hours in the evening). Wonderful night- we would love to come again when we’re in town!
Cozy but a little disappointed with Pad see ew doesn’t have condiments(fresh chili in vinegar, chilli flakes) like what I had in others
Great place. The food was good. The service was prompt, but the food and the check took a long time to get to us. It was a pretty busy night, but a party larger than us was sat, ate, and left right around the time we got our whole parties food. That being said, the good was delicious. Just don't go there if you're in a hurry. There is public (paid) parking right by the place, including EV charging spots.
We always have a wonderful experience when we visit Thai 9. The menu is extensive, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. My brother has a food allergy, but our server guided him to some excellent choices he could enjoy. Both of our meals were beautifully presented and delicious. The cocktails we well crafted. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable.
I’m not an adventurous person, but the BF is, so we tried a local fav! Food was pretty good, they have such a variety - everyone should be able to find Something! Service was absolutely wonderful! Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable, and had great recommendations! We shared the COVID 19 roll, which was Delishhhh! Also shared the chicken satay, which was wonderful with the sauce they provided, adding their chili sauce and sriracha! BF had the pad Thai and I had the fish with chili sauce. BF loved my dish, said the chili sauce was what made the dish! We’ll definitely be back if we find ourselves in Dayton again!
I personally enjoyed it here quite a bit it’s really pretty seating, was 62.73 before tip for our 3 meals, I got the chicken fried rice and that was about 18$ and I enjoyed it, only wish that the rice was fried a bit more to make it a little crunchier since that’s what you kinda think of with fried rice Miso soup was 2.50 was very concentrated and I enjoyed it compared to a lot of places with very watery misos, was too salty for others around me but I love salty taste so perfect for me, but was a smaller portion than usually expected at places for side bowls of miso My only gripe was with the cook time, we arrived at the restaurant and it wasn’t super busy as far as I could tell and it took 30-40 min to get our dishes after ordering Would say that for serving I wish we were checked on a couple times more as well Between 4-4 the parking is free in the area but afterwards it’s 3$ for 4 hours
We visit every time we are in town. It’s a must. Everything is good here. My fav are the Spicy Fried Noodles.
Great ambience, menu options, and food quality. Loved the yellow curry!
Pretty loud and noisy inside, parking on street or public parking lots. Food portions were decent for the price. Service, food and atmosphere were excellent. Pretty decent spot for asian cuisine.
I was so hungry and the food looked delicious, so I ate before taking the picture. I ordered the sour and hot mushroom soup (heat level 3), and the yellow chicken curry. The side salad that comes with the curry had onion dressing on it, so if you don’t want the onion dressing say so before the food arrives. The place felt comfortable and the interior designer did a great job!
Was able to grab lunch here while I was in town for lunch. I LOVE the space! The inside is so nice. High ceilings and airy. Gives you the feeling of a temple or house in Thailand. We sat on the patio and it was perfect! Shaded on a hot day. Nice and protected. We had spring rolls to start and they were delicious and HUGE! I also had the sweet onion salad and miso soup. Both were delicious. The salad was light and I liked it as much a ginger apple dressing. I also had the spicy noodles with shrimp and rice noodles. Very tasty!! I really enjoyed it. I got it a 7 spice and still added more spice. I really liked it!!
The store itself is in an interesting revitalized older part of the city. It had great atmosphere inside was nice and there was plenty of seating. There is a large sushi bar with 3 sushi chefs working it. Parking was a little difficult, but not overly inconvenient. The service was a little slow, but I could see our waitress had a whole section to herself, as everyone is having trouble finding help right now. I had the papaya salad which was outstanding. Thr seafood Pad Thai was very generous with scallops, shrimp, muscles, calamari and imitation crab. The flavor was average for a Pad Thai dish. Prices were reasonable for the food quality and they have a great selection of beer.
Stepping into this downtown Thai restaurant, you're greeted by a cozy yet authentic atmosphere. The service here is awesome, with staff going out of their way to offer trending recommendations, making every guest feel special. The food is where this place truly shines. Each dish, from the tangy soups and salads to the rich Yello Curry, is a burst of authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The Pad Thai deserves a special mention for its perfect blend of sweet, sour, and savory, making it a dish you'll crave long after your meal. Innovative takes on traditional dishes add a delightful twist, ensuring there's something new for even the most seasoned Thai cuisine aficionados. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Coconut Milk Soup, Rainbow Roll, Mango Chicken, Yellow Curry along with some Pineapple Poppers and 21's! Thai 9 isn't just about great food; it's about an experience that combines impeccable service with an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic and creatively prepared Thai dishes!
Love Thai 9, some of the best food in the Dayton area! They are always busy, so I would recommend calling ahead or making a reservation. But delicious food, an awesome beer selection full of local options, and good service made this for a great dining experience and certainly will go come back many more times! Also I appreciate that you can ask for chili oil to add a bigger kick to your food if you would like. I'm a big fan of their Pad Thai. Definitely recommend!
Nice place and friendly service. Evenings are usually busy. We tried red curry and Thai 9 fried rice. They are perfect.
A really fantastic, authentic Thai restaurant. The menu is huge, and covers Thai as well as sushi rolls and a wide variety of appetizers. The apps and curries that we had were very good and the restaurant is huge with a nice patio area.
Super delicious food and great pricing for what you get. Most meals are around $10 and are big enough to fill you up. If you get sushi you might need to spend $20-30 to fill you up but that's cheaper than most sushi restaurants and the quality is great
The atmosphere at this establishment is delightful, and the service is exceptional. While the Thai cuisine may not be entirely authentic, it is still enjoyable. Parking is available on the street for free, but spaces are limited. For those who prefer, there is also a paid parking lot located behind the restaurant.
Amazing food, tentative staff, beautiful building. I WILL be back to try everything on that huge menu. Best crabrangoons ive ever had in my life and very impressed by the green curry with chicken!!
Huge portions of excellent Thai food. This place lives up to the hype! The Garlic Chicken and Tempura vegetables were both top notch. Come hungry!
Thai Nine is a fantastic Thai food restaurant. The food selection is vast and everything is well prepared. Even when the place is filled to capacity, the service is prompt. I recommend trying the Tom Kah Gai Soup. Coconut milk broth with cilantro seasoning It is very good.
Lovely time spent here! Colt was our server. He provided answers to questions from food to the history of this amazing place! Fantastic music and atmosphere, delicious food and great service, wonderful atmosphere and good vibes, all made for a fantastic experience! One of my favorite places now, and I wish I lived closer. Will definitely return. ❤️
A fun and fairly priced option for a nice casual thai restraunt that serves food you'd expect from a place twice the price. Solid eats, although the spicy level is on the gentler side. I had a 7 for spicy fried noodles and definitely could have gone higher. The outdoor section is a little cramped but the seats are nice and the atmosphere is a1
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible! The food was bursting with authentic flavor — perfectly balanced spices, fresh ingredients, and the kind of dishes you keep thinking about long after you leave. The Pad Thai was the best I’ve ever had, and the Green Curry had the perfect kick without overpowering the dish. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. Every detail was spot on. If you’re craving real Thai cuisine, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I have not been here in a while and some of the negative reviews had me concerned. The service was fine. Our water was refilled many times and the waitress was attentive and helpful. All four of us really liked our dinners. I had the spicy noodles and it was delicious. We had the slaw as an appetizer and I was surprised how tasty it was. No complaints or concerns. I look forward to coming back.
Took a little bit to be seated as I entered through the back entrance. It then took a longer than I expected for a server to acknowledge me and approach the table. The food was good. Up to my foodie expectation. Great drink variety. Awesome Thai tea. * No alternative non dairy options* 😔 service was a little slow and spotty. The team made a very strong come back and redeemed my visit. They did well in the middle of a big rush. Very cozy spaces a little chilly... Bring a jacket. I did enjoy myself. Thank you Thai 9 **great job Marlena**
Tried Thai 9 during my visit to Dayton. The overall vibe is great — cozy, lively, and welcoming. Service was top notch — attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Only thing to note: the spice levels run much hotter than expected. As someone who enjoys and tolerates spice (I’m Indian), I asked for a 6/10 and still found it a bit too hot for comfort. So be sure to adjust accordingly if you’re sensitive to heat. Otherwise, a solid experience and worth a visit!
This is a cute place. We stopped for lunch on our way through. We sat out on the patio and had a great server. She was knowledgeable and kind. I’ve had better sushi for sure but the fried rice was the best I’ve ever had!!!!!!
Shrimp and beef Pad Thai. For 21.95, it was okay. Not bad, not great. Will come back again.
The service was great. The food was good, but the wait for the food took an extremely long time. My family and I were there a total of 2 and a half hours. Disappointed that they aren't serving Shrimp Cakes anymore and the Fish Cakes were not good. Very fishy tasting and tough. Also disappointed that they no longer serve Peach Belinis.
Quaint Thai place with service that's personal and friendly. The food isn't "wow" but pretty good. Greasy spring roll and ok Thai Spicy but Hot Sour soup was good. Lots of selections - even if you're vegetarian.
Heard good things about this place and went here for lunch. The place was huge and a bit rustic. The staff are friendly and polite. It wasn’t much of a wait either. Most of the dishes were good. Especially the 1. Chicken Spring Roll was very good (5/5) 2. Papaya Salad (5/5) was also excellent. 3. Phad Thai (4/5) and 4. Shrimp Shumai (4.5/5) were also good. But the 5. Yellow curry (vegetable) was mediocre. The veggies were huge chunks and the flavor was too bold and raw. Their drinks were ok. They have a huge menu. Overall a decent place.
Friday Night, November, 6:30 pm. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants because of its esthetics and beauty. It's rather bare bones now, no plants or lovely decor. The plants absorbed sound so now it echoes. Plants also added warmth so it's chilly inside now. Not many customers, I remembered it used to have a wait time. I suppose this would be a plus now but I missed the experience of people. I ordered green curry with chicken, spice 3. The amount given is more generous than the past, seasoned perfectly. Our Server aimed to please but was definitely serving several tables at once. Our drinks refilled once. Lots of hustle and bustle from service. Sit in the main room if you can because the back rooms echo badly and not good for conversation.
I always get the yellow chicken curry, I have sent many people here to have the exact same dish. Today the dish was so salty that I could not finish. ….. I’ve had this dish over 30 times and there has been some times that it’s been too hot because of the chilly oil or too soft because of the chilly oil but never salted.. As I understand, we are all human and make simple little mistakes. I will always recommend this place besides tonight with the saltines and my wife’s fried rice being under seasoned and under flavored it is always a go to spot in Dayton.
The food is awesome. Thai Spicy Chicken was fabulous. The Wonton soup was awesome. The Mimosas are delicious. The atmosphere sucked not because of the restaurant or anything they did. Some very disrespectful parents came in with a very tired toddler that wouldn't stop crying and screaming.
The Thai dish i ordered was competent. Unfortunately this restaurant tries to do too many things and suffers from the " jack of all trades, master of none" problem with asian restaurants. If I'm going to a Thai restaurant your Thai food had better be amazing. I don't want to hear about your sushi options, that's not what I'm there for. This restaurant would benefit from tightening up their menu and reworking their Thai options so they're the star of the show. But, that's just my opinion.
Heard the food was good and spice levels were legit. We ordered a level 5, 7, and 9. And it unfortunately was not even spicy. I can't hold my spicy foods but the level 9 was not spicy AT ALL. Food was okay, it was mainly salty and one noted. But the atmosphere was amazing. Great place for a date or get together.
It was just okay. Came out to celebrate a birthday and it took almost an hour from the time we put our order in to the food to get there. Our server was doing her best but she had a ton of tables. First time I've been underwhelmed here.
I brought my family here for lunch after seeing a lot of positive reviews, unfortunately it made me feel like a wrong choice. They took almost 45 minutes to serve the food after I placed an order. Finally the food arrived , it was looking delicious however the food was tasteless, salt less and less spicy though I had opted 6 spicy levels. I am giving 3 stars only because of ambiance.First time we’ve been here and may not come back again. Overall the food is Okay, not so good.
Sushi was very small and when mentioned to the waiter she just stated" that's how it comes". I wish I got a pic on the plate bt it wasn't mine and I really debated writing this. This main I ordered was terrible! Although it did give a good portion of meat the noodles were disgusting. They seemed a bit over cooked maybe idk bt the whole dish lacked taste, however my 5yr old son like it so I didn't complain about it. All in all I could of done without it. Service was decent although I feel our waiter barely visited our table compared to others the food was quick.
There was once a time where this place was raving with great food and quality service. It's done a complete 360. We were served flavorless noodles with over cooked vegetables savagely drenched in oil. A restaurants experience always equates the food hence the papercups and dirty silverware we had to ask for twice to have a clean pair. The only saver was the cocktail we ordered. Maybe it was a slow day but, these were the worst conditions I've seen here as a frequent visitor when I am in Dayton.
Don’t go pre-theater!!! Great atmosphere, decent food but extremely slow service. Waited an hour for entrees which were cold on top when they arrived from sitting somewhere . Each stage was slow— slow to take order, slow to get entrees and epically slow check out with 3 staff members standing around talking who “couldn’t “ ring me up but then one of them ultimately was the cashier. No sense of basic customer service or urgency. Plenty of staff standing around but tasks were unevenly distributed. Used to like this place but after making me needlessly late to a ticketed event, I won’t return.
Disappointing and Unhygienic Experience Would Not Return This was our first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately it will be our last. While the menu offers Thai food and sushi, the overall experience was extremely off-putting from the moment we walked in. The restaurant had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the floors were sticky. We ordered a few appetizers to start, but they were drenched in oil and had a strange aftertaste. We barely touched them and ended up leaving the plates full. What truly raised concern was cleanliness and hygiene. Outside the restaurant there was a rodent trap, and inside there were two more right at the entrance. After seeing this, we looked up the public health inspection records and found multiple violations, including improper food storage temperatures among other serious issues. That was enough for us to decide not to continue the meal. Additionally, we observed a server handling napkins and utensils directly with bare hands before placing them for customers, which was extremely unsanitary and unacceptable. We paid for the appetizers and left to eat elsewhere. Between the hygiene concerns, poor food quality, and overall environment, this is a place I would strongly recommend avoiding.
I used to love this place. I was there about a year ago, and my dining partner had to send his food back. It was a dish he'd had often, but this time it was awful, he said. I forgot about the decline of the food, but when I went there for lunch today all three of us were disappointed. We ordered an appetizer, which didn't come until mid-meal. My friends both had ram rong. Both of their entrees were lukewarm. I watched them try to eat the baby corn which was raw. One of them had a sauce that was described as aggressively sweet. I used to love the side salad of fresh bibb lettuce and a homemade, lovely ginger dressing. What I received was bowl of roughly chopped iceberg with some sort of watery brown stuff that reminded me of saltwater. I don't know what's happened, but it's a major fail.
1: Service was terrible. Server acted like he did not like his job. He was rude and snatching things from us. He would walk by our table with his head down in an effort to avoid us. We received 3 different drinks. We ordered coke zero, we received cherry coke or pepsi, then we were able to finally flag him down and we got the correct drink which was coke zero. When we needed a refill, again it took awhile to flag him down we received diet coke. How hard is it give the customer the correct drink? What if we had allergies or something else. 2. Pad Thai was not it’s usual quality. It lacked first of all protein. We received very few tiny pieces of chicken in our Pad Thai. It also lacked flavor. 3. Our table shook every time someone walked through the dining area. This was a bit annoying. 4. On a side note…The bus boy carrying glasses and water pitchers and buckets of dishes was hustling, working hard and always doing something. He was definitely committed to his job and worth recognizing. This is the type of person you want to be customer facing, not the server we had to deal with. This was overall a poor experience…
