Kitchen sink burger one of the classics thats not on the new menu but you can still order it. Its amazing!!! And the shakes are the best!!! Love coming to bobs when ever we feel like eating a good burger!!

This my second time come to Bob's Big Boy in Norwalk. I love enjoying the food very much. It reminds me when I was young my parent's use take myself and two brothers to Bob's Big Boy for the Big Boy classic.

Nothing better than a Bob's Big Boy Combo! Delicious! We had the BEST chocolate peanut butter shake! Really huge menu with all kinds of food! Chicken and Waffles, really good variety of sandwiches & burgers. Complete breakfast lunch & dinner menus. Fast and friendly service. Salad bar. And don't forget to pick up some of Bob' special Season Salt! I buy it all the time! Great on fries and meats. Love it when I make Pumpkin Seeds!

Decided to go here for my birthday breakfast because I haven't eaten here in years and let me tell you... It was friggin fantastic. Crispy Waffles with pretty great chicken tenders and a solid side of ranch (gotta judge a place by its ranch cause most places have terrible ranch.) would definitely recommend to anyone curious and around the area for sure. Had the smash burgers and fries. It was so good then had hot fudge ice cream cake for dessert. So good. Restaurant was clean and service was great.

I gotta say it was magnificent. I had a country fried steak with veggies, and the steak was seriously delicious. Probably best Country fried steak I've had if I'm being honest. Aside from that, the design of the restaurant is the old retro fashion, which isn't too common anymore. The waiter was also pretty nice. It wasn't very busy when I went, so wait times weren't bad at all. Overall, 10/10 would recommend!

Try the honey mustard chicken it was great has big pieces of bacon, the chicken was juicy and thin enough to cover the whole Burger had red onion which was my favorite. There was not too much sauce to wear the bottom bun gets soggy it was just right,perfect. Tried the oreo Shake also 10/10. Will be coming back! 🥰

We went to Bob's Big Boy at the Downey, California location. As usual, the Big Boy Combination Plate was fantastic and delicious. Crispy, crunchy salad was scrummy yummy with their Original Big Boy Bleu Cheese dressing. And, the burgers were piping hot and flavorful, gotta love that original Big Boy red relish dressing in the burger! Mmmm...the memories and nostalgia hit hard, of when I was a kid, we would hit the Lakewood, Brea, and Hesperia locations on special occasions and I would always order the Big Boy Combination Plate!

Today before going home to Houston I stopped at a place I remember going to with friends on a Friday night back in 1985 Johnnie's Broiler as it was known then and Now it's Bob's Big Boy in Downey, Ca. Went inside, ordered a Coke & a Big Boy Burger with fries. They even have the original sign bolted to the floor. This place brought back a lot of memories from Good times with friends that sadly are no longer with us. I will be back on my next visit!😊🍔🍟🥤😋

I've loved Bob's Big Boy since the '50s. But sadly the Classic Big Boy hamburger just isn't the same. I still enjoy going there for nostalgia's sake. These days I visit the Bob's in Downey CA. It will be a sad time for me if Bob's closes in my lifetime and all I'm left with are the great memories. Last dined in in May 2023. The interior of the restaurant is in dire need of a refurbish. Nonetheless, I always love visiting Bob's.

It has been years since I visited Bob's Big Boy. This one is one of the 4 remaining in California, and the quality is still top-notch! The staff is super friendly and attentive. The location has plenty of seating and parking with a ton of nostalgic flair. I definitely will be back!

We love having to drive to Downey because there is a Bob's Big Boy there, and there are so few left in Southern California. It is always great. They make the best burgers, 2 burgers with a bun in between, topped with whatever you want. They are always made to order and they are just so wonderful. They have a full menu and you can get all of your meals there and everything is good. It is an old time diner, this one is very large. The food is just so good. They have a chili pasta dish, that my grandson goes nuts for. It comes with garlic bread and a side. They have dinner items that are all tasty. Their breakfast is excellent. We love their pancakes. This Bob's is just spotless, all the time. I see at least one person cleaning the entire time we are there. The place is big and older, but they really keep on it. The kitchen is super clean as well and the bathrooms are well maintained. The service is so friendly. They get to you straight away and are so helpful. The last time we were there we were the only ones there. So, go and give them a try. They need the business. This Pandemic has really hurt them and it is a large place so expensive to keep up. Parking is free in their huge lot and look out for the cool 50's cars that are sometimes there.

I'm a Bob's Big Boy lover and I always go to Bob's in Toluca Lake any time I visit California..Best burgers by far. Always fresh. Combo is great. Staff wonderful, service top shelf. Sometimes you have to wait to be seated because of popularity, but well worth the time spent waiting to enjoy really good food!! Large menu but I go for the Bi Boy Combo!!

I’ve not had Bobs Big Boy for over 35 years, they closed the location near me and the Red Relish that went on the Big Boy burger has stuck with me. When I found there was one in Downey and were in Bellflower it was a no brainer. I had the Big Boy, son had the Best Cheeseburger on the Planet, wife had the House Salad, Chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. The place took me back to when I was young, server was outstanding, great food and my son said he didn’t know if it was the best on the planet but his cheeseburger was the best he’d had ever. Told him the Red Relish is the best pairing ever with American Cheese and meat and is what memories are made of. Super cool inside and staff is friendly and quick to make your visit the best. If you’ve never tried the Red Relish then do yourself a solid and order the Bobs Big Boy Burger and if your super hungry, order the four paddy one. Enjoy the pics! Plenty of handicap parking as well.

It was my first time coming here so didn’t know what to expect. I got a burger I would say 6/10 waiter was really nice though 😃 I think the habit better then this though my meat wasn’t even cooked correctly.

Came here for the first time since I was a child; amazing restaurant. If you live in Downey/South Gate area you owe it to yourself to try it. I had a coffee and tried their chicken parmigiana (pics below) and the pasta is on par if not better with the likes of Olive Garden despite being a burger place. Their menu is diverse and the atmosphere is relaxing. Definitely worth a coffee or milkshake on the bar once in a while. Server was attentive and kind, kept refilling our drinks, left her a nice tip. Tl;dr this place rocks, love you guys.

Great experience! I was looking at movie locations of "Heat" and this place was great. Actually is the scene where Waingro escapes. Waiters and waitres were so kind and nice, and foods are really genuine! Thanks for the great time, it was wonderful having lunch there and sitting in the same place where the gang of the movie (Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore and Kevin Gage) were talking. Visited the Big Boy Downey location! This location is absolutely amazing! Up under the restaurant leadership of Marisol, the Downey location is the best Big Boy location I have ever visited! Marisol welcome me as soon as I opened the door to come in. Marisol made sure I had everything I needed to have the perfect experience! To conclude my visit I had a sweetheart chocolate fudged cake that Marisol personalized for me! All in all if you want the best Bob’s Big Boy experience, the Downey location is where you need to go! I may be a bit bias so I'll put it out there only as I grew up eating here, well here and ihop, n the occasional Denny's. Alas this sweet spot is an absolute gem. Folks are cool and chill. Workers are amazing almost always. Food is phenomenal especially as of late. Had gone here lately and saw they had a steak on the kids menu! So we ordered if and it was a real steak not mash ground beef. Legit, also the chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks seem to be hose made as well, oh and the marinara sauce is fantastic as well. I wouldn't put it past them if they actually make it in house as well. It's so fresh and it hits so good. So in an attempt to keep this brief, I highly recommend this place to any lonesome traveler or a family. Looking for a good time or especially a group of friends. Looking to reconnect and catch up. Definitely a pit stop would stop'n at.

If you dig a vintage vibe, then this is the place. The food is quality diner selections. The service has always been good and the tunes are great. This place is a bit of a movie star as it's appeared in a number of movies during it's previous life as Johnnie's. It's appeared in the 80's flick License to Drive, Heat (starting Al Pacino, Val Kilmer and Robert De Niro), Bob Dylan's music video "Things Have Changed", The Beach Boys: An American Family, The X-Files, What's Love Got to Do With It, Mad Men, The Country Bears, Reality Bites, Madonna's music video "What It Feels Like For A Girl", and many more. We just flew into LAX and made the trek here for our breakfast/lunch (long, early flight). We had a long wait because the kitchen was backed up. The host was very friendly and great about communicating updates with us. Our waitress was amazing! The food was SO good!! Absolutely worth the wait! The food was delicious! The outside dining was full of customers but unfortunately not enough servers. Only 2 servers and a manager on a very busy late Sunday afternoon, early evening. The service was okay but they definitely needed more servers.

What's not to like about one of the original Bob's Big Boy restaurants? Retro inside and out. Wish it could run like it did back then. I can imagine it very popular, filled with people in and out of the establishment. Like if it were a scene from Back to the Future. I think a couple movies were actually filmed here.

I haven't been in the area for a long time. When lunch time came around and I was, well the choice was made. Time has been kind to this place. The food was great. Diner food made well. Shake was all that I remembered. Burgers and chicken was better than many restaurants. Add the nostalgia and it is well worth the trip.

I asked for no relish in my burger. When it arrived bed with relish, she wanted to take the plate. I said it was ok as I didn't want my group to have to wait for me. She gave me ice cream instead

We nostalgically sat at the counter of the throwback diner and ordered the Big Boy Cheeseburger combo, the Patty Melt combo, substituting onion rings for the fries, an Oreo milkshake, and a Pepsi. Our server Valerie graciously took our order and ensued we were never looking for assistance. To say everything was delicious would be an understatement! We sat and enjoyed our little lunch (and celebration of her promotion to 8th grade) while chatting about old cars (there were some scale-level models on a display case near the counter) and old feel-good music (a teenage Michael Jackson and 'young' Elvis played on their in-house speakers). Thank you for the memorable lunch Bob's.

Look, the food? Just okay. Not terrible, not great but definitely not the kind of food that makes you say “Wow, this is tremendous.” Believe me, I know tremendous. This wasn’t it. Now the service? Fantastic. Really top-notch. Our server was incredibly attentive and very fast. Maybe the best part of the night, frankly. I give credit where it’s due. Service? A+! But let’s be honest, for those prices? You expect a lot more. You’re paying like it’s Mar-a-Lago but getting something more like a sad hotel brunch in Delaware. Not worth it. Not even close. And I’ll say this. There was a table nearby full of total weirdos. Real freak show. My wife, son, and I were just trying to enjoy our meal and these people? Very unsettling. I don’t know what was going on but it wasn’t normal, I’ll tell you that. Overall? Great service. Weird vibes. Overpriced food. Would I go back? Probably not. We can do better.

Even though this place has a long history in the city I was not convinced with the quality of the food. Don't order the quesabirria, one of the worst I've had better places for it down the street. Shouldn't have something on your menu that taste like quesadilla and call it quesabirria. Pure cheese and beef in a cheap tortilla and with mediocre sauces on the side and consume that's wack. No cilantro and all you can taste is cheese in a tortilla no spice to it or savory taste. Pains me to write a 3 star review for this place. It gets 5 stars for cool factor and vintage vibe but the server that we got stuck with must of just got the job the day before with no experience in the food industry. Service was terrible from this guy, clearly didn’t know what he was doing. Long wait to take orders. Food brought out by other servers because our food must of been sitting in the window waiting for this guy., just a bad experience. It sucked! Also the food portions were strange. One plate loaded up the others were skimped on. I didn’t bother taking pics of the food because I don’t want to scare you off. I love old school places like this and I hope this guy gets his act together and doesn’t chase people away.

Parking can be tight when it’s busy.Plenty of kids for breakfast on the weekend due to sport leagues at the local park. Wait times are short and food comes out fairly quick. The serving’s are fair but food comes out a bit cold. Avoid the men’s restroom as it smells like sewage. That said it was my first time to this location and last as it was nothings worth returning to.

It's like if Jack in the Box tried to make a Big Mac and charge you $12 for it. I guess I'm paying for the rent they probably can't afford because this place was almost bone empty. Horrible experience at this restaurant! The cups were dirty! They had a film of white grease- like substance all around and inside the cups. I asked my wife to inspect them just to make sure I wasn’t being delusional. Sure enough she was able to scratch off some of the filth around the cup and I asked the server if she could please replace the drinks because the cups were dirty. The server said it was “frost” in the cups and that I was wrong. She made me feel like I was stupid . I couldn’t eat my food when it arrived. I know she did something to my burger or at least made me feel that way. I’m not one to complain about the servers or about the food but man I just have to make an exception. Never coming here again!

I've lived near this place for years and finally decided to check it out for myself. The food was made with absolutely no love! Service was okay but definitely better than the food. Waited about 20 minutes for a burger combo, paid extra for Chilli cheese fries and this is what I got. Needles to say I don't think I'll be going back. There's other burger joints down the street not far from this place I think I'll e checking those out instead next time I'm in the area and hungry.
