Visiting from Texas and asked for the best fish fry. Wallenwein's fish fry, super delicious!
Great visit - I am partial because I grew up here, but the food was wonderful
Kind people excellent food. The fish fry is always the best and I just love the rueban sandwich!
Good food. Great service. Sat on the patio for a dinner out after picking up our csa at Thorpes farm.
Nice old time family owned bar and restaurant. Can't beat the lunch soup and sandwich for good, quick, cheap eats.
Great place for Fish Frys during lent. Great place to see local families.
Superb wings and service. One waitress was taking care of the entire patio and doing an amazing job.
Great service, excellent specials, good beers on tap. We really enjoy the staff.
Always enjoy eating at your restaurant, never had a bad meal. Keep up the good work.
Their Carolina barbeque wings are amazing! The staff is very friendly.
Low key place with no pretensions. Stand up bar, great fish fry, friendly & efficient service.
Our waitress Adrian, was fantastic, and our food was delicious. It was my first time there. Will definitely be back!
A super fantastic fish fry. Worth the wait. Salad was artful. Large sides, panko was a nice change.
Awesome corned beef dinner on St Patty's Day...got there just in time as they were almost out. Waitress was great!
Great hometown bar with good beer and food!
We both enjoyed our meals. I wanted a good burger AndI got one. Fries are delicious
Very good experience here! As a vegetarian I had multiple options but I ended up having the house salad in the end. Very good portion!!!
Excellent dinner with a wonderful waitress. We love this place,Great service at great prices.
Great place for drinks and food.Resonably priced.Friendly staff.Love the old feel atmosphere. .
Best food around. We go here often and never once have had a complaint. Great food great service.
Some of the better wings in the village
Great food and service. Went there in memory of my Dad on his birthday. Use to be his old watering hole!
Great food and drinks, good prices, wait is insane on a Friday but we'll worth it.
Great service , Greek salad and fried bologna sandwich were really good. The place was really hopping, nice crowd.
Great place to get together with family and friends to enjoy pizza and wings. Loved their fish fry, wings, pizza!!
Good food, quiet atmosphere,.they also have limburger cheese sandwiches on the menu if you're interested in that. I like it.
Outstanding beef on weck. Friendly and nice staff. Good price!!!
The best fish fry I ever had! Nice atmosphere greatest service ever ! Even worth the 25 min wait time. THANK YOU SO MUCH WE WILL BE BACK !!!!!♡♡♡♡♡
First time there for me and ma and I but definitely won't be the last!! No dessert menu, but the food was delicious!! The place was clean, not too busy and nice, rustic decor.
Excellent service and even better food. I had the Buffalo chicken wrap and it was delicious. Other people I was with had beef on weck, a quesadilla and the BLT. All look great and was enjoyed by everyone. I would definitely go back and I recommend that you try this place if ever in East Aurora.
It's the real place locals go to. Everyday they have different specials. You can always get s seat, unlike the famous roast beef place in town, and the prices are good. The only negative is their pizza crust comes in frozen.
We're Brits living in East Aurora. Since the sad demise of Parker's in South Buffalo as a walk in fish n chip shop we have scoured the region for fish fry to get our fish n chip fix. This place serves a really, really good fish fry on a Friday evening. Great fish portions, decent amount of crispy fries. Some superfluous condiments such as tuna pasta salad and coleslaw. These are maybe German inventions but we tolerate them! Malt vinegar is available at the table. I love the service. The wait staff are ever so friendly. Before Covid we used to bring other Brits living in the area and guests from Old Blighty here and they all rated the Fish Fry as the best they've had State side. We've also visited after a bar crawl with a bunch of Brits on a Saturday. It actually resembles a Brit Pub for atmosphere. Can get busy in the bar (pre Covid) and I recommend reserving a table as the wait time is often uptown an hour. They had some ridiculous $12 sirloin steak and fries which was amazing! so well cooked. Finally they also serve a Beef on Weck pizza. Its something I love, something not loved by others but it, like most things on the menu is cheap! Well worth checking out!
What a classic building with a delicious comfort food. I was here in April I think and I am still craving the hot roast beef sandwich. Gravy on the fries? Yes please. I love that it is a couple of streets off of Main so it has a good amount of busyness without being mobbed. My 2 year old devoured the kids pizza. Next time I am in East Aurora, there is no question that I will be at Wally's.
Tuesday wing night. Buy 10, get free. Dine in only. Lots of flavors to choose from. The building has been around since the late 1800's.
Hot spot. Good food but extremely crowded. Go early or make reservation. We waited approx 30 min before being seated (as walk-in).
The best fish fry - their German potato salad is amazing. Awesome outdoor seating. Great service, takeout is on time.
Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Very reasonable prices.
Always great food. I've had the Chicken Tenders and Fries, Beef on Weck, Chicken Caesar Salad, and Chipotle BBQ Chicken Sandwich and all have been amazing!
Our go to place in East Aurora. Great local watering hole. Really good food and drinks at affordable prices!
I love their steak balsamic salad. I’ll drive 20 minutes out of my way for one. I look forward to ordering one when I’m in East Aurora
Great food, great service! Went for wing night, and they were amazing! Service was super fast too, hardly waited for anything! Definitely recommend!
Wallenweins has very good food. I usually get the Greek Chicken Salad and it is excellent. Their hamburgers are also excellent. Everything I've ever ordered has always been very good.
Food was very good. Prices were reasonable. Service was slow. No waitresses working on Mondays poor bar keeper taking care of bar and outside seating.
They have the best Fish Fry’s We have ever eaten, very flavorful. The owner is so personable and so are the rest of his staff. They make you feel very comfortable. Ben is doing a great job. Wish him Great Success in future..
Great food. Had a hamburger made with their own grind of beef cooked to temperature. Service was very friendly and they had a nice beer selection. They have 7 taps they rotate plus some they always have.
Best beer batter fish fry ever. Colslaw also delicious. Plenty of food with half fish order. Good served timely & hot(went early though). Server pleasant & attendive. Will return to try other fish fry dishes!
Good food. Great prices. Waitress was a lot of fun.
The food and staff are amazing! Great for a date night, drinks, or family dinner!
The best fish fry I’ve had in Buffalo by a large margin.
This is a staple of the Village of East Aurora. The food is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. The fish fry is quite good, and it's a great place to grab a drink or have dinner.
Good price. Great food
Love that they have a vegan sandwich on Thursdays.
Rented the private room. Reasonably priced, great to work with, fantastic service, good food. Everything you would want when hosting a dinner. Strongly recommend
Great food and atmosphere. We usually dine in and have the chicken wings and pizza on a Weekly basis. We have had the steak dinners on Saturday evenings, My wife and I have agreed, that they have one of the best steak dinners around!! I would compare it to a higher end steak house for quality, taste and tenderness. I also have ordered the French onion soup again bravo to the staff. Updated. The service was great. We ordered the medium pizza and wings. The wings were crispy and cooked perfectly. Saturday evening, we had the pizza and wings they where delicious. We can't enough. what a great place and very affordable for you and your family. Thank you Don and Kathleen Pressing.
Tried out Vegan Thursday. Food was great and servers did an excellent job and we're very pleasant. Had the vegan sandwich special. Only issue is that it's only vegan Thursday... Should be everyday!!
Was here for a reception following a funeral. Had never been here before. Food was really good and service was great. Plan on going there w family on our own sometime soon. Only downfall was small parking lot.
There’s no shortage of great fish fry places in Buffalo, and this is by far the best one I’ve ever had. I don’t know what they put in their tartar sauce but it’s equally as good. Their shrimp dinner with Panko covered shrimp was amazing as well.
My husband and I go to Wally’s sometimes multiple times a week. No complaints, every member of the staff is great and they’re a big reason we frequent here so much. BEST French onion soup I’ve ever had- neither of us have ever had a bad meal here! If you’re reading this because you’re in EA and don’t know where to eat, just go to Wally’s. We’ll probably be there too.
EXCELLENT! We sat on the front porch and had an adorable server, Jerica! She was fantastic and handled everyone by herself. The food was delicious. I used to come here with my best friend when I was a teenager. We loved the pizza. I am so happy for their success here still after all these years!
Absolutely the best wings and white pizza!! Friendly staff locals are a plenty so you know it's great
The best fish fry in WNY. Clean. Good social distancing. Friendly staff.
Good food and service, but had to wait over 45 minutes for a fish fry. Unacceptable.
Typical local favorite place. Good food. Nice outdoor deck. Always a comfortable crowd.
Great fish fry but go odd hours or you won't get a seat it's that good
First time visiting. Just popped in for drinks. Staff was super friendly. Looking forward to going back.
Nice place to get back down to Earth. Always open when times are bad or theres 4 feet of snow. Great Classic White Pizza
We stop in tonight & got 2 pizzas to go& a few drinks . Bartender was great! Bf on Weck pizza 100% as usual ( had another time). But I tried the grilled chicken pesto pizza & was told ,well thats not very popular. Got it anyways, Omg so Tasty, Loved it! Will order again 4 sure. Be more confident on this Pizza guys seriously!!! We will be back again & we r from out of town. Thank u!
Got a beef on Wick that is a local favorite, and traditionally, the roll is dipped in au jus it was very dry without it. The beef was overcooked, The flavor was very good and worth the stop. Enjoyed the elevated outdoors roadside setting .
Great fish fry!! Lonnnnnnnnng wait from time we ordered till food arrived to table. All the staff were friendly waitress gave us a heads up before food came had to take 1 point off for long wait.
Very nice clean place was at the bar didn’t get any food but I hear it good
Excellent fish fry! Ambience very nice. Just a tad noisy. Highly recommend for any occasion but a quiet romantic dinner.
Always very good food and customer service is always fantastic. I highly recommend this place.
The seafood platter was not worth it. Should have stuck to the fish fry. The two small shrimp and two small scallops and smaller portion of fish really didn't quite make a platter. The German salad was delicious. Happy that it came in its own cup to keep the juices. The macaroni salad has tuna in it. I had completely forgotten that was as it should be. The crab cakes were made with real crab, no imitation. Crab was a bit strong, but the spicy drizzle was good, and it was perfectly crispy outside. Our waitress was fabulous. Fun and quirky and immensely pleasant. We've finally eaten at the institution that everyone talks about, and it was good.
Nice local spot for good food and drinks
I would visit again. They have a great selection of American fare, good specials, and friendly service. It is a sports bar and grill, so it's not really a quiet place. The dining area is comfortable and the bar is in a separate room.
Went for the famous fish fry, first time. Hubby said it was good. Nothing extraordinary. Both are fries were overcooked and dry. My burger was excellent, though.
Wallenwein's Hotel is a historic establishment in East Aurora, New York, known for its cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and great selection of food and drinks. Let's start out with it was Good Friday. It was very busy. So on a personal note the best philosophy is to tell the truth we were told a 20-minute wait but it was an hour and 20 minutes. The fish was good, the sides were in general okay. All in all we had a good time we will consider this place again on a less busier day.
Great fish fry and actually phenomenal wings that they charbroil. Pizza is decent. Beer selection is not so great, just your standard choices, but the patio makes it a great venue no matter what! Service is good and attentive. Always a friendly atmosphere!
Fish was just ok . Some over cooked some under cooked. French onion soup was great. Waited 40 minutes for a table, then another hour for our fish fry.
Out of fish fry at 7 P on a Friday night! Crab cakes mostly bread, fried shrimp good.
We went on a Saturday evening at 6:15. No problem getting a table. Menu was extremely limited, but the wings and burgers that our party ordered were good. Pizza was below par. The Friday night menu, which is part of the main menu, but only available on Fridays, offered some interesting choices. Probably won't go back.
We have been going to Wallys for years, always great fish dinners, served hot and ample. Last night however, took over an hour before we got our dinners. They need to limit takeout orders on busy nights. That was the reason we were given for the delay..
Historic Towny bar. Patio seating is very nice except for the fact they allow smoking in part of it and you sit down wind. Relaxing to sit out and ppl watch. Fish fry was good, crispy coating and perfectly cooked. German potato salad was excellent, fries and sides too. Craft beer selection was small, local though. Inside is dark and noisy at the bar but there is a dining section with quieter seating.
The fish was good, but the place could use a good cleaning. Small flies were bothersome through dinner.
We went early so we didn’t have to wait. Had the fried pickles and they were fine. My companions had the fish which they said was delicious. I had the small cheese pizza. For $8 I expected home made crust not a pre made shell. Way too much oregano, so much so that I only ate a couple of small pieces. I told the waitress why I didn’t want to take the rest home and there was an apology but no offer to reduce the bill. Won’t be going back
Very slow service, after being seated, took 2 hours for a fish fry dinner. We had NO appetizers, salad, soup or dessert. It took over a half hour to get a second drink. The wait for the food which was good wasn't worth it.
Tried calling numerous times over 45 minutes. Busy signal every time. Friday night fish fry willing to bet phones off the hook. Clearly phones aren't an important of their business.
Supposed to be a historic place to eat in East Aurora, arrived at noon , restaurant was practically EMPTY ordered a chicken wrap , at 12:40 still had NOT received any food, when the ONLY waitress was questioned, it was clearly explained the a phone order for 6 had been placed that was why it was taking so long. Well at 12:45 we left the restaurant with food in to go boxes, and let's just say IT WAS NOT WORTH THE WAIT! With so many GREAT PLACES to eat in EAST AURORA, the suggestion would be take WALLENEIN'S off your list if you are looking for a quality meal in reasonable amount of time!!!!!
Treated poorly. We were with a large party and the bartenders groaned when we came in. Then they confused the bills and accused people in our party of leaving without paying. I then asked for my bill to pay so that we could leave and he asked me what my wife and I had eaten. Really confused. They need a better system for tracking the bills. Perhaps table #s and some sort of POS system. The paper and golf pencil doesn't seem to be cutting it anymore.
I ordered a impossible burger and I swear it was another kind (I was sick to my stomach after eating only 1/4) service was SLOW!
Absolutely horrendous service. Drinks are served in rindky dink plastic cups, you’ll finish them in less than a minute and don’t expect refills often. The service is impeccably slow, problaby more so than molasses. The food took near 2 hours to come out for a simple fish fry. I haven’t ate the fish yet but the service was so substantially bad I had to leave a review. I’ll get back to you on the review for the food. Update: the fish I got to eat after waiting 2 hours, I watched dangle off the counter while the waitress no gloves puts it back in my plate trying to act all discreet….disgusting, absolutely vile service and the fish was no where to part. Plz save yourself precious time and oxygen and avoid this place at all costs. All the good reviews are from gullible old people, don’t trust them.
Never will go back again! Spent $175 for terrible food. Pesto pasta,no flavor. Fish fry was burnt. Roastbeef WELL done, etc. Unfortunately this place was a disappointment.
Was debating whether or not I even wanted to post this, because part of me understood, but having thought on it, I figured it was worth it. Yesterday (Good Friday) are 6:30, I called to place an order for a medium pizza, two fish fries (have been recommended this place for fish fries a few times), and a Greek chicken salad, and was told it would be an hour and a half wait. "No problem" I said, because being Good Friday, I figured they were swamped with Fish Fry orders. The problems started when I showed up at 8. As I walked in, the bartender looked right at me as I approached the bar, but ended up looking away and going to the end of the bar where a group was already gathered....and proceeded to do 2 shots before finally coming over to me. Paid for the order, and was told "it should be out in a few, I'll call your name once it's ready", so I went and sat down. 20 minutes go by, and still nothing. So I get up to ask for an update, and the bartender (who hadn't left the bar) told me "they're boxing it up now, it'll be out in a minute", and it was still another 10 before it came out. Probably because there was a drunk girl who kept walking into the kitchen, singing songs and/or dancing, but who knows. As for the food? Meh. The Greek chicken salad didn't have much chicken, the pita was stale, and instead of tzaziki? Sour cream. The pizza was borderline cold, despite having "just been finished". The fish fries were okay, but WAY too much batter, not enough tartar, and the fries were cold. Definitely won't be returning here, at least not for some time.
I have had a decent experience in the past, however not last Friday. My wife ordered ahead for two fish fry dinners to go. She was told 45 min. I show up 45 minutes later. Place is packed. I wait 15 min then check with staff. They advise at least another 30 minutes. I check with those in line they all were told 45 minutes and one couple just got their order 1 hour and 35 min later. We had plans so I went up and cancelled our order. Staff expressed zero sympathy or apology. Disappointing, I guess their business is so good they can afford to lose customers. The moral is don't over commit and if you do apologize.
