Recensioni di Mas Tortilla Forest Hills
I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good. Liked the guac and the mole. I’ll definitely order from here again.
Rather small and intimate restaurant but the food was really flavorful and the margaritas hit nicely!
Food retains traditional flavors while having a modern presentation. Great variety. Service is friendly and profesional Atmosphere great surroundings, music and good conversation volume. A rare Quality bargain
Delicious, large portions, fresh! Enjoyed everything. Tacos are the best, doubled layered which prevents them from falling apart — especially important for take out. Guacamole was perfect, tortilla chips freshly made. Give them a try!
Amazing service, best guac in town. I’m glad they opened as it’s closer to me. Food is authentic, the drinks strong and they have a great taco tuesday and happy hour. The place could use a few more pictures to add some color to the white walls, but other than that, it’s a great spot.
Once you've find perfection it's hard to look elsewhere. I really enjoyed my corn tacos and my blue corn quesadilla. The margaritas are also very good. I'm hooked - unable to try other places at the moment.
Had take out chimmichangs, chips and guac, and a huge frozen margarita. Very good. I requested 'not spicy' and it was perfect. I am in my happy place right now looking forward to left overs tomorrow. Thank you :)
I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING! The guacamole, fish tacos, burrito and enchiladas were so delicious. I love Mexican food and this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.
We decided to take out this afternoon from Mas Tortilla. We ordered 2 taco platters and were extremely satisfied with the quality of the tacos! The birria is so tasty and the meat just falls apart. I can’t wait to try their quesa-birria and duck chipotle tinga flautas when we go for a sit down meal.
In case you were wondering, do yourself a favor and order the birria tacos. Im sure everything is amazing, but the meat was seasoned and braised to perfection- tender and juicy! All the sides were amazing- fresh guacamole, fresh pico de gallo, and rice and beans. Will be ordering online/going in person again soon!
Tasty, fresh Mexican food! I’ve eaten here twice in the past couple of weeks and both times was very happy. 3 tacos special, (carne asada, pollo and zucchini tacos) chicken tostadas, guacamole and rice and beans were all fresh and delicious. Prices are good for the amount of food too. Eat in and take out service was fast and staff are very nice! I’ll be back again.
The place was clean. The margaritas were excellent. Chips too Service great but it wasn't that busy so... Music a tad loud. Gonna go back and make this my happy place!
Very good Chorizo Tacos and Mezcal Mule!
Food was great! Steak tacos had great flavor. Chicken quesadilla, churros, and drinks were great too. Only one server and did a great job, I appreciate the effort.
Totally in love with the place. Food is delicious. So far I’ve tried nachos, burrito, corn, and churros. Not a single item was less than excellent. Will be coming back for more!!l
This Mexican restaurant is the kind of place you want to be your "go to", food, prices and service are great; it's a hidden gem in this area.
It was great, the food was delicious and nice big portions. And the signature cocktails are so unique. I'm definitely coming back soon to try more!
Great and attentive service, amazing drinks. Guacamole was fresh and very tasty, dinner was the same. A great new addition to Forest Hills and well worth the trip or delivery.
I had my choice of 3 tacos and the elote. Everything was on great. Bartender was very gracious. After getting home with my food to go everything was the way I ordered.
It may not look like anything fancy from the outside, but the food is fantastic. Heavy hitter in the kitchen - you won’t be disappointed. The drinks are solid too…worth checking this spot out!
Excellent, delicious, generous portions. Had the fish tacos and I wanted more!! Everything was so fresh and tasty. Loved it all!! Especially the corn.
The food and the drinks were delicious.. Would definitely recommend the frozen margaritas.. My favorite was the passionfruit one.. The nachos with steak were scrumptious. Will be going back..
We were three for dinner. Each one of us loved our meals, chicken tacos, meatless chimichanga, chicken flautas. The margarita was excellent!
Loved the food. The place is cozy and the service was great. Make sure to order the churros and ice cream for dessert!
Another fine evening and terrific dinner at a neighborhood favorite with good friends during Restaurant Month did not disappoint. The only flaw was an overworked staff, but quality was superb! I loved the fish tacos this time. Despite being faced with a full restaurant, friendly service was the order of the day. I will certainly be back!
My wife and I were in the neighborhood this past Thursday night and decided to stop in for dinner. We were really happy with our experience. We both got tacos and enjoyed them (I tried the al pastor, tinga de pollo, and chorizo, and she went with vegetarian options). The tortillas and fillings were both great, as were the rice and beans. They also have a very good bar program, with extremely reasonable prices. Service was attentive and kind, and made us feel welcome. We'll definitely be back!
Even though we didn't make it in time, they have a VERY generous happy hour most days of the week. I've had take out here before but dined in this time around. Definitely hits the spot if you're in the mood for Mexican. Reasonable prices also! Margaritas are A+ as well. Will absolutely dine here again.
Until recently there had been a dearth of quality Mexican places in the Kew Gardens - Forest Hills area other than bar food and Asian-operated quick Tex-Mex. We’ve ordered from Mas Tortilla for a few months and each order has been stellar. Homemade chips and decadent guacamole to chimichangas or enchiladas in all stripes or colors, you can’t go wrong on their menu. Lot of bang for the buck!
Accommodating staff and some of the best Mexican food in Forest Hills. There's a bar as well as tables. They have many mezcals and tequilas and if the place isn't too crowded, they'll tell you about them if you ask. Everything I have gotten there or picked up for home myself has been great, but one of the times I ordered delivery I was disappointed. So go in person.
THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN FOREST HILLS, There I said it. The old guard is dead, rested too long on its rep. The food is delicious and fresh, the margaritas are awesome and the service top notch. I have been to this restaurant several times and they've been consistently good. I wish they were a little closer to home but it's worth the 5 minute drive anytime. I will be a regular here from now on.Dont ever change Mas Tortilla you are rocking it.
This place is fantastic and worth the visit. Fresh ingredients (where do they get tomatoes that taste so good?), handmade tortillas that steal the show from anything you eat them with, juicy chicken underneath flavorful sauces (i got the mole poblano and yes, you should too), this place has it all. Reasonable prices, too. I've been here twice, looking forwards to many more times.
This review is strictly for the food since I ordered delivery. Friggin amazing! I got a chicken burrito and a carne asada burrito for my fiance. We got so much food and it was all delicious. It came with fresh chips and guac which was delicious too. Definitely worth the money. I would definitely order from here again and would love to actually sit down and eat here!
Our party of 6 came here for a birthday dinner. The food were very generous in portion. We had number of their specialty tacos, they are all delicious. Our favorite were the shrimp and duck tacos. The staffs were very attentive. I definitely recommend others to try this place.
A neighbor suggested we try this new, family-run place and it was terrific! The menu claims to prepare food in small batches with quality in mind. Absolutely! Drinks were beautiful and flavorful. I enjoyed the Tamarind Margarita a great deal. Service is attentive and true to claim, we were treated as family. I will certainly go back and bring more friends with me, order in, take out from time to time. What a lovely gem to the area!
This is the place to come no matter how you’re feeling—happy, sad, or just exhausted. If you’re feeling low, this spot will lift your spirits. The food is delicious, the service is warm and welcoming, and the drinks are fantastic. A perfect go-to place, whether you’re alone or with friends. Highly recommend!
I love the food here, but the service is absolutely terrible. I wait anywhere from 5-15 minutes just to order my drink and get the menu, then another 10 minutes for the drink and another 25minutes to eat. The servers are not attentive at all and the food is almost always going to be somewhat incorrect. That being said the food is worth the wait and the service. It is my favorite Mexican spot in the area. Hopefully they can fix their service and wait times because this place has potential to be a great hidden gem. Drinks are great and the happy hour specials are amazing.
I recently attended a holiday get-together from my office for 13 people here. They were able to accommodate us along with other guests. They are e blocks away from the train but the bus stops in front of the restaurant. The place seems small from the outside, but they arranged the place well internally. They had lovely holiday decors. They have a nice active bar. I enjoyed frozen margaritas 🍹 there. Staff are friendly and quick. Food tasted very good. The bathroom is very clean and well stocked. Overall, I loved the experience.
Went on a Thursday afternoon. The lunch special is lovely. Comes with a good size meal (I got burrito with Carne asada) and drink. I got the coconut margarita and it was not too sweet. Well made. The churros for dessert were delicious and a great plate to share with a friend. She enjoyed her meal too. Would love to come back. Place was clean, bathroom was super tidy, and the service was wonderful!
A great hip and new place to explore Mexican food! Service is excellent when not busy. Although messing up my order just a tiny bit, food is great, and experience overall was great. I must go again on a Tuesday for their amazing Taco Tuesday deals.
This is a hidden gem in Forest Hills. By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood, with no shortage of competition. The staff is friendly but attentive, even when busy. I've been back several times and what I love more than the food itself is the consistency. There is comfort in knowing that you will get exactly what you're hoping for - fresh, authentic and delicious food each and every time. 😋
I found this place while exploring my new neighborhood. They are amazing. The food is delicious. The service is the best. They have happy hour every day. I come here on a regular basis now. The prices are reasonable and did I mention the food is so good. They have the best brunch menu. Comes with free appetizer and drink. The blue corn pancakes are AMAZING. The omelettes are fluffy and delicious.
was looking for a local mexican spot and stumbled upon this place on a saturday afternoon. the food was excellent and tasted authentic. highly recommend!!!
Delicious tacos, great service, cozy interior! Can't wait to come back and try the happy hour drinks.
I eat at Mas Tortilla on a regular basis. I love Christina and Brian both servers at the restaurant. They are both very attentive and always pleasant. Food is good and reasonably priced. My only complaint is that the smoke detector has been beeping for a month. Please change the battery it is very annoying.
I recently visited Mas Tortilla and was thoroughly impressed! The tortillas are freshly made and incredibly flavorful. I tried their tacos, and each bite was a delight. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!
I always take out at least once a week. The tortillas soup is the best. My next go to is the chicken mole burrito, I like it because you get more protein than regular chicken burrito or shrimp. I got the tamales long time ago wasn’t my fav but it was when they opened. Menu is a little big but I’m Very glad they are in area. Food is great.
We came with my sister and our niece, and another time for my birthday...Mas Tortilla never disappoints! The drinks are spot on, the food was delicious, and our servers were the best! This has become our spot on Queens Blvds! The drinks are AMAZING!! Thank you!!
I'm a regular here. There's nothing bad to say about this family authentic Mexican food that served so beautifully. Their drinks are amazing and the place is cute with beautifully photos . The bar display is an amazing work of art clean and in the summer their doors open into the street so inviting . It's a small cozy spot but there's nothing small about their food, and service.
Relaxing atmosphere for a week day dinner. Enjoy the tacos & a smile from the friendly staff
Hidden gem on Queens Blvd. Came in during lunch, and got the lunch taco special. Two tacos Al pastor, loaded and with onion and cilantro, side of guac, rice and beans AND drink is included, including beer and margaritas for $19.95! You cannot beat this deal. Everything was delicious. What impressed me most was the server. He was managing the bar, serving all the tables during a busy lunch, yet we never felt over looked or as if anything was taking too long. This is definitely going to be my Saturday lunch spot with my wife. I wish I got a picture of the food! Absolutely loved it
great mexican food every time!! the birria quesadilla is flavorful and and the margaritas are delicious. their guac is rich, creamy, and clearly made well. I’ve also ordered delivery and was just as satisfied. everything arrived fresh and tasty. the people are great, the restaurant is clean, and I truly can’t complain!!
Love this place. Consistently hits on all points. Food is always fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the guacamole and escites. Anything with the al Pastor is delicious. Wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, burritos and apps. Drinks are a good value. They also have all day happy hours and Taco Tuesdays.
I’ve always seen this place as I work nearby to this restaurant, but I’ve never been. I decided to finally try it today and it did not disappoint. I had the Chilaquiles and they were fantastic, but I swapped it with birria meat instead. I definitely will be back for sure
I ordered take out last night for my parents anniversary celebration and it was probably some of the best Mexican food we’ve had in our area in a long time! All the food was so flavorful and delicious. I was nervous that I was ordering too much food, but there were absolutely no leftovers because of how great it was! Highly recommend ☺️
A great place for Mexican food! Update: the customer service is incredible! I ordered delivery and one of the items was wrong. I called them and they delivered the correct item promptly. The brunch deals are awesome. Each dish comes with a cocktail for a fair price. The three amigos nacho medley is amazing. The guacamole, pico de gallo, and salsa had great flavor and texture. The chilaquiles con huevos were a great dish. The chimichangas are exceptional, especially with chorizo. An amazing dish that I would love to reorder. The service was great but got a little slow at the end because there was only one server in the busy restaurant. Would recommend!
Love eating here when I'm in the neighborhood or ordering out when not . Last time I was there I had the mushroom quesadilla and my sister the tostadas, we shared the Mexican churros. My favorite is the blue corn quesadillas mushroom or steak both so good 🤤 and their Mexican churros are one of the most Delicious ! desserts I have ever had in my life . My partner always get tacos or a burrito chicken or steak 😋. This place is a must try . Sorry not much pictures , the one below provided by my sis because I go straight to eating
It's not a fancy smancy place, but it's warm, inviting, and a great place to grab a bite or a good drink! Was introduced to this place as they are restaurant week participants. Their food is SUPER good 👌🏾! Their eloté and barria (is that how you spell it) tacos were AMAZING! The drinks were on point as well! I went a second time, even outside of restaurant week. The prices are great as well!
Food was delicious, service was great as well, it was not too crowded and we went Saturday night, so it was a quiet atmosphere, you can have a nice conversation there. They were playing nice music but it wasn't on the loud side. I loved the drinks! My passion fruit Margarita was on point, just a little too light on the alcohol same with the Mojito, flavors were there but I did not taste or feel too much alcohol on the drinks. I liked the tortilla they used for their tacos, the food was well seasoned. Service was nice and friendly. We liked the churros, they give you a proper amount. If you are in the mood for Mexican food and you are in the area, give them a try. Plus they have happy hour!!
I ordered the birria tacos and was met with a wonderful dish that was packed with flavor. If you can’t handle a bit of spice. This dish might not be for you but for my spice lovers!? Absolutely cannot miss this dish. I also ordered a strawberry margarita. It was stronger than I expected it to be. It was almost $10 during happy hour though. Very tasty food. The service is met with a big smile and attentiveness. The atmosphere is welcoming with bachata and merengue. The Latin culture is prominent here and I loved it. If you don’t eat here I think you’re missing out!
This is literally a hidden gem of Mexican cuisine located in Queens, NY. When it comes to Mexican food, I am more critical because I don't want anyone to compare it to that TacoBell nonsense. The food here at Mas Tortilla is as close to authentic as it can be served by using ingredients similar to the old country. The mole is delicious, the tortillas are made locally, not frozen and prepackaged, and the presentation is excellent. I fully recommend this location for a taste of Puebla, México.
I recommend this place, the food was decently priced and very tasty, you can tell it's authentic Mexican food because it was very good, the salsas were good as well but not spicy at all, I tried the flautas, the tacos al pastor, the churros for desert and a red sangria. Everything was great! I will be back again Update Sept 2022: I tried their birria tacos and they were very good, it's not easy to find good birria.
$7 frozen margaritas during happy hour which runs 4-7pm Got the three tacos combo and each of them were delicious, guac on point! Definitely coming back to try out something else My mother said it is so plain looking to dine in!
This restaurant has been my go-to for Mexican delivery .and the food is top-notch. I visited the restaurant for a sit-down meal, and while the service fell short, the food and drinks didn't disappoint. The space seems unfinished as the walls are bare, so I hope in time they can add touches of color to compliment their cuisine.
This is some of the best Mexican Food I have ever had. We started with Calamari (cooked to perfection and the dipping sauce, delish). My husband had chicken enchiladas mole and the mole is incredible! I would have bought a jar to go. I had the cactus quesadilla, which was very inventive. I only wish there was some kind of sauce or at least more Pico de gallo. The bar area is very cute, but the dining area needs some work at these prices. It's unnecessarily loud.
This spot is very pretty and aesthetic although it’s small. Honestly the food wasn’t that good. Everyone that I went with thought their food was just okay and pretty bland. The guacamole options are cool and the churros were pretty tasty. The service was great and they had a lot of options on the menu so maybe we just didn’t get the right things.
I was in a burrito mood so I ordered the chorizo one. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and spicy was. I sent that spicy that buries the taste, but enhances it. And the chorizo wasn't ground to the point where it was impossible to distinguish as you ate. I'll have Go back and try some of the other burritos. Maybe some of the other dishes in general. I also ordered a drink but the name flew out of my head. I will update if I remember as I really enjoyed it.
The “old reliable” on weeknights when I’m just looking for some good food to pick-up. Everything on the menu is very reasonably priced and the portions are incredibly fair, especially for the lunch specials. On the days I decide to sit down and eat, they are always so kind. The place, while admittedly small, is very welcoming, decorated, and used very wisely as they are able to even fit a nice bar area in. I’d recommend the chimichanga’s.
We got the take out and waited for about 10 minutes for an order of 9 tacos. I am not impressed. Taco are so so to be honest. Lacking flavor and feels like something i got from a fancy place where flavor isn’t the top priority. The rice and bean is just a little weird. I would say it’s the worst rice and bead I had in NYC. The rice is grainy and bean has no taste. Price is a little expensive for takeout but what do I know. I can skip the rice and bead. Ambiance is a little modern but they tried to make it traditional look with some art. I honestly think it can use a redecoration.
Average Mexican food . My only objection about this place is the charge you a automatic 20% gratuity without telling you first. That should be stated before they take your order.
I wanted to order 1 empanada of each flavor, and I could not Ridiculous, never experienced that... Waitress said order of 3 of one flavor at a time
01/2023: been back a couple times w no disappointment but tonight was an exception. Was charged wrong info on price. They had an all day, everyday happy hour $5 drinks but then charged us $9 a drink and was told it was for specific days and time but I know during the end of last year it was all day regardless of weekday/weekend and they have a sign outside stating “happy hour all day everyday”. Otherwise why have the sign out on a day you don’t honor the deal. I would’ve ordered something better for a price differential. Felt bamboozled and didn’t appreciated it. Ordered a Chile relleno came w no chicken but they did fix it and brought a new one out. Also got the desert wrong which they also fixed accordingly in a quick manner. 06/2022: Food was amazing and didn’t disappoint! Guac and chips tasted fresh and seasoned well. Cocktails weren’t too bad either. One of the best Mexican places in the area. Decent priced as well. It’s a good substitute if you can’t make it to Jackson Heights. Staff was nice too. Absolutely better than 5 Boro and Tacombi.
Food is good. Service is great. Clean place. Prices are ok. The only issue, they do not offer free chips and salsa like it is offered in other Mexican restaurants.
What we liked: presentation/quality of food and drinks. Margaritas were some of the best we've tasted. Food portions were reasonable in size and priced similarly. Service was good (not great). What we didn't like: automatic 20% tip added to bill for 2 people. Small tables. Fan operating over our table. Music a little on the loud side. The moral of this story: Mas Tortilla, enjoy the 20% tip because you won't see us again!!!
Fajita salty, shrimp salad was not great either. Poorly put together. There are better Mexican restaurants out there.
Came on two separate occasions. Steak Empanadas are dry. Had a steak salad and the steak was bland and dry. Anything made with steak is dry....
I have been here a few times in person. Bartender was nice and welcoming when I was there. Food used to taste amazing that I’d uber eats from there often. However, these last 2 times I have ordered food, the great flavors have vanished. I loved ordering the duck enchiladas rojas. They are supposed to be made with Guajillo sauce.. I did not taste any guajillo. Simply tasted like canned tomato sauce.. disgusting. The chilaquiles verdes used to be my favorite and let me tell you how disappointed I have been these last few times as far as taste. Definitely different cooks now.
I was very disappointed with the three things I ordered - frozen margs (idk how you go wrong with this), esquite tasted rubbery corn and not any seasoning besides a bit of tajin on top, and the flan did not taste fresh. The photos I took look good but the taste could be better. I will say the waitress was nice and gave me a better straw after I told her that the paper straw wasn't good for a frozen drink.
Today was my first time in this restaurant ( más tortillas ) what a disappointment. The food portions were very small as well as the drinks. Very expensive food.. My wife asked for eggs and steak and they gave her nothing compared to real steak. The Restaurant billed me a different amount. It was nothing compared to what they stated in the menu. I Spend a lot of money for steak and eggs and a fajita and the portions were so small. The bill was $85. Don’t waste your money here at this horrible place..
Food was great. Service from waiter was ok. The reason for the poor rating was that we got bill for extra things that we did not get. Granted, we should have checked the bill more thoroughly. That's on us. But the fact that it was done in the 1st place. Great food, just check your bill to make sure its correct. We had 6 people.
The dishes of the two others I was with came out, but not mine. The waitress said it's be out in a few minutes. Then she was bringing takeout bags up to the front while I was still waiting for my dish. When my dish was brought to the table, it was cold. So they probably had mine ready first, it sat there getting cold, and then they tried to quickly heat it up. I sent it back and didn't eat. They have a bigger takeout business than dine in and they obviously care about that more. I'll never go there again.
I was so disappointed! I had ordered online 1 hour and 10 minutes in advance. I know it was Cinco de Mayo and it was busy, but a 45-minute wait is long . It gets worse. I ordered a chimichanga with steak. I didn't see any meat; it was only beans and cheese and it wasn't even deep fried. I couldn't eat it. The rice and beans were ok. I've been really lucky with Mexican food, but I guess my luck ran out! Be a while before I eat Mexican again!
I’ve been a loyal customer at Mas Tortilla ever since they first opened. I was there for their soft opening, holiday prix fixe events, and friends’ birthdays—but for the most part, I’ve supported them through takeout orders. I’ve recommended Mas for both their food and service for a very long time. However, last night was a very unpleasant experience. I came to dine in with a few friends, but because the kitchen was closed, my party was told we could only order from the bar. I asked if we could just get a pitcher of sangria, but the bartender said they couldn’t do that and instead recommended sangria in to-go cups. I didn’t want sangria in to-go cups, but it was clear the bartender just didn’t want to be bothered. Since I had brought guests, I didn’t want to create a scene, so I agreed and waited for the order. While waiting, to our surprise, the bartender got a call from the owner saying that my party and I had to purchase food with our drinks—that we couldn’t just order alcohol. Even though the kitchen was closed, the owner insisted we order something. The bartender then told me I had to buy a bowl of guacamole along with our drinks. I don’t know what happened to Mas’ management, but I definitely won’t be recommending or ordering from this establishment again.
