Late lunch with my girlfriend after a morning in San Francisco. I ordered the New York steak from the dinner menu with a Caesar salad appetizer. I ordered the New York steak cooked medium. It was cooked perfectly, was very tender served with a sweet bbq sauce on side which accompanied it well. Sarah got the veal scaloppini entree with the oysters Rockefeller appetizer. Her veal looked to me like a tomahawk pork chop! Very appealing. She enjoyed it thoroughly as well as her oysters Rockefeller. Our waiter was excellent. Very attentive and new what was on his menus. All and all was a very good experience with excellent food and great atmosphere. Owner Saki was very polite and welcoming

JAN 2023 our group dined at Spin a Yard for a birthday celebration. The experience was great. i arrived a bit early sat at the bar and the bartender was welcoming and talked a bit of shop before settling on a cocktail. Angelo, our dinner server was awesome...pleasant, attentive, prompt and professional. He really made the experience a joy as our group was family including a one year old infant. Wine list covered all the reds, domestic and Italian and a few whites and a couple sparkling. Apps and meals were cooked as desired and the steaks were delicious-accompaniments too. I really like the broiled flavor of the meat and the grated horseradish added that lil punch. Parking is private lot and the restrooms were clean. Prices reasonable.

A beautiful place to have your dinner!! Classy atmosphere and live music. I enjoyed the food, and wine also!!! We asked to share one steak and they served us 2 full plates with very carefully chosen sides for me, cause I don't eat dairy. Very well cooked steak! Really friendly staff and Sakis, the owner, is a very nice person!! I hope to visit it again soon ❤️

I recently dined at spin a yarn, and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegetarian options available. I know I may sound crazy. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, with a great selection of vegetarian dishes that were expertly prepared and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan, which was a standout dish that showcased the creativity and skill of the kitchen. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone, especially those looking for great vegetarian options. Very cozy place, and you wouldn’t realize from outside how good it is. Highly recommend it!

I had the prawn risotto and it was creamy and delicious. The side car was perfect and hit the spot. Staff was super friendly. I had an early dinner around 5pm and it wasn't too busy. I'll be going back.

We have been enjoying the Spin a Yarn for years. Always enjoying the food and friendly service. Have had many parties there over the years ( Christmas, Anniversary and Birthday), and always first class . I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, dinner or any gathering!

Found it by accident while traveling, and gave them a chance since they we're busy on a week night. Older, more established restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff, owner greets you at the door. Food was very good, large enough portions that my wife and I split a steak dinner! Highly recommended to give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!

Terrific little hidden gem. Hopefully I can make it back there soon. The pork chops and desserts are to die for. The white bean soup was very delicious. Staff was absolutely wonderful and go above and beyond. You have to go find out for yourself.

Passing through as we went from Texas to Oregon to visit family, we like to try out restaurants that Gordon Ramsay helped. We had several different dishes and we all loved our meals. All the meats were juicy, tender and full of flavor. Staff was really nice. Atmosphere is beautiful. We had one small hiccup that was professionally handled and that's all we could ask for. It's really great here. If there's anything under par, just kindly inform them and they will redo it. Easy. Truly a great place and so much better than any chain.

Saki's always does a great job at hosting clients. Food is clean and fresh while there's always a great selection of drinks. If you didn't know, the restaurant was also on Gordan Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares S:4 E:13 The food and menu has been consistent and excellent ever since.

The prime rib was well priced for the quality. I sat at the bar and the bartender was prompt and courteous with her service. She was fast with ordering and processing the check when i asked. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was delicious. Drinks were also fairly cheap on top of it and of decent quality. I would recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for steak.

Excellent old school steakhouse. Pretty small menu, and nothing crazy, but everything is done excellently. The steaks were cooked perfectly and we couldn't decide which dessert so Keith helped us out. He's the best and quite funny. If you're unsure give it a try.

Was looking for a good steak with friends and decided to try this restaurant. Was not disappointed. If you like to East a cow (or a chicken) you can go here. Very good service, food and inside (maybe a bit too fancy for my party, but it is nice to feel fancy sometimes). Of course it was not cheap, but I believe it was worth it.

Service was Amazing. Food was delicious. Overall a good time. Price was a bit much, however this is a steakhouse so I understandable. Calamari was the best I have ever had. Ribeye felt slightly under seasoned but salt on the table cured that. Scallops were the only item lacking completely. However, imo scallops are hit and miss on the scallop not preparation.

I attended an Irvington High School Alumni Christmas Party here. The party was held in the banquet room that was spacious enough for quite a large crowd. The room was set up nicely, there is a dance floor and a small bar inside the banquet room and is adjacent to the main bar. The wait staff were attentive and provided excellent service. The only problem that I noticed was there wasn't enough parking space for the size of the crowd we had plus the restaurant patrons. Other than that I recommend it for any group party.

This place is great!!! The food is prepared with pride, not just to make a buck. I spoke with a patron there and he told me that he was there to celebrate his wife's 83rd birthday. I asked what he thought about the plan and said he has been going there since he was 25. That's when I knew it was a wonderful place to spend time and money 💰. I got half a chicken and it was cooked to perfection. I Highly recommend taking a Spin 🤗

This place is a gem! I've been here a few times with friends and always have a blast. The atmosphere is super fun and positive, the staff is warm and friendly, and the food is delicious. You have to try their pasta – the mushroom pasta is especially amazing. And don't even get me started on the desserts! The tiramisu and cheesecake are both to die for. Honestly, you'll leave with a happy heart and a full belly. They also have live music on weekends and host special events like Christmas and New Year's Eve parties, so be sure to check it out! Highly recommend

Really enjoyable night. Food was great. A live musician that added to the atmosphere rather than dominating it. Service was excellent. I ate at the bar and felt really looked after. I was given two generous tasting of wine before making my choice. Wish more places took that attitude. Really couldn’t fault the place.

I came in at the last hour and was the last customer. So I ate the last piece of bread and ate the last noodle. I sat up at the bar and the bartender was great. Enjoyed a pleasant conversation with my meal and was out. The bread was well, one could tell it was the last one but it was not inedible. In fact, I still nom'd on it happily as my pasta was made. With the main dish I was especially impressed. It was great! I have to say I've been to one to many an Italian places in the area that charges about double this and that are far worse. Would definitely come back.

First-time being here. Had a meeting with the big boss and a co-worker. I was the first one to arrive. I got seated, and the waiter was very welcoming. He told me to feel free to look over the menu while I waited for the rest of my party. When we all were together, the waiter recommended certain dishes which were delicious. Definitely coming back again.

We came here for a “working” lunch with a client. I use “ “ because we didn’t work. We were too busy enjoying the delicious food and wonderful atmosphere! Pro tip: it’s a steak house but there aren’t any steaks on the lunch menu. If you are hungry for a spectacular steak, be sure to ask for the dinner menu. I recommend the rib-eye. The waiter was awesome. So awesome! My colleague asked about a pasta dish and he was honest in saying it wasn’t his favorite, and recommended the Chicken Marsala. She ordered the chicken but the waiter felt bad that he had scared her away from the pasta that he had a complementary sampler of it made and brought to the table to try. How cool is that!?!? The pasta was good but my colleague agreed that the chicken was excellent. Thanks for the great recommendation and stellar experience! Was this review helpful? Going to the Spin a Yarn Steakhouse here in Freemont, and I'll tell you why...I finished out the Pleasuretorium up on the hill for Two Lip Toni and her little heartbreaker Juicyjojo, and with the help of Justin Case and his little squeeze Hope Yorewell, we were able to get that Clamstripper installed without a factory technician. That in itself is huge! Hope gets all the credit because she used one of these things when she was on the circuit and knows the ins and outs better than anyone, as a matter of fact she offered to give Juicyjojo a hands on demonstration, but Toni wouldn't go with it. Toni did spring for dinner though, and it was Spectacular! The Spin and Yarn Steakhouse is a wonderful experience, the service was excellent as were the selections, but the food, ...the food was Amazing! Spin a Yarn... 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

The owners are so accommodating. I called only a few days before we had our family dinner here. They were able to put us in a private party room and decorated for my Aunts bday. The food was spectacular. Highly recommend Spin a Yarn for a nice intimate dining experience right in the heart of Fremont.

Best steakhouse I’ve ever been to. Only thing better than the amazing food was our waiter. Even though he’s a 49ers fan, our drinks and food were out quick and he made us feel at home in another state. May be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and this place IS worth it. Thank you Keith and company! Get the tiramisu!!!

We were looking to try this for a while, and finally got the chance two days back. This was featured in Gordon Ramsay’s television show many years ago, though admittedly a lot must have changed since then. We were a group of 7, so they gave us the private dining room. Angelo, our server was amusing, attentive, knowledgeable and prompt. We ordered a couple of appetizers: prawns and calamari. A couple of friends ordered Caesar’s salad while one got their soup of the day. The prawns were more like shrimp. But the sauce was very nice and the shrimps were cooked very nicely. Their bread was fresh and went very well with butter. Although, of course, totally unnecessary carbs! :-) My entrée was a 12 oz Filet Mignon. I requested Cajun rub. It was wonderful. Every bite was full of flavor. Expertly grilled. Loved it. Other friends ordered prime rib, ribeye bone-in and short ribs. Everyone loved their food. Wonderfully cooked. We had a few shareable sides, including chilli lime corn, creamed spinach, garlic fries and mushrooms. For dessert we had tiramisu, Cheesecake and berries. These were awesome. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion. The owner greeted us himself when we entered the restaurant and the service was very attentive. Plenty of nice seating areas, and this place has been around 60+ years and is a sort of local landmark.

There is no better place!! Spin A Yarn is the most amazing restaurant and the staff is even more amazing. My beautiful 90 year old Grandma had a big birthday party here, and the venue, food, staff and overall experience was better than we could have imagined. Love this place. I wish it was closer to me. I’ve been several times when traveling in the area. The food is amazing. The servers are all amazing. If you go in and take a seat at the bar you will see They have a great local clientele. And most of them treat you as one of them. Strike up a conversation, they welcome it. I have loved everything I’ve eaten here: mushroom cream pasta sis so good! Pot chops and apples are delicious! The steaks I’ve had are delicious (filet). You can’t go wrong. Bat can be loud. But so worth it. There is outdoor seating. They host things like karaoke, live music, Halloween(and maybe other holidays) events. If anywhere close, check them out. Nestled away from the busy mall areas, it is a hidden gem! I always forget to take a photo of my food here.

Excellent food. fantastic service. Old school steak house vibe. We went there between lunch and dinner and we were given the option to choose from the dinner menu which was much appreciated. The server was so pleasant and professional, I didn't ask his name but I believe it was Keith. I should have to give him praise where it is due. Our food was amazing and presented perfectly. I will attach some pictures but sadly we both started in before I remembered to get pictures.

This place is a true Steak House. You get that vibe right when you walk in. The owner greeted me as I walked to the bar area. Great service and everyone was friendly. Now the food.... It is exactly what you would except. First class hands down. I had the surf and turf and the blackened ceaser sald. It did not disappoint. Took 2 of my guys for lunch. I dropped $370 with tip. But we'll worth it. I'll be back to try their viel or lamb this week.

We had an excellent meal at Saki's Spin a Yarn. It was our first time thanks to a gift card I received quite awhile ago. Finally got around to using it. Service was TOP NOTCH. Kevin greeted us and seated us right away. Brought us waters and bread before we ordered. He was playful, attentive and seemed to have our vibe down immediately. He offered me rice and potatoes - in case I didn't like the rice. Joked around with us and refilled as needed, checked in but wasn't overly involved. The food was delicious - surf & turf (New York steak and giant 4oz prawns) with mashed potatoes, green beans and even roasted garlic, a Prime Rib dinner with the same sides, and fresh caught halibut steak. All cooked to perfection. Desserts were yummy as well, particularly the chocolate mousse. We also tried tiramisu and cheesecake. This place is not cheap, but I think well worth the prices. We would definitely like to return - it is a bit of a drive for us, so it will be on a special occasion. Thank you specially to Keith for making it memorable!

Went there last night for dinner. It was a weeknight. It was quiet, though not empty. We were seated quickly and the waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the salad with our meal. I was very excited because the menu said that there would be hazelnuts but instead, the salad came with candied wants. I was disappointed that it wasn't hazelnuts because that sounded like it would be really great and the waiter said it must have been a typo in the menu. I am slightly allergic to walnuts but I didn't mention it. Tried one and it was, indeed good. That was literally the only tiny hiccup in the meal. The salad was fantastic the steak was perfection, along with the roasted garlic and au gratin potatoes. The mushroom pasta was absolutely delicious. We saved room for dessert and so glad we did. We got a tiramisu and the berries dessert to share. The tiramisu was absolute perfection and the berries were even better, if at all possible! One other thing... The steak knives were awful lol! It was literally easier to cut the very tender filet mignon with the table knife than the steak knife. But our experience was so awesome and everything was so delicious that we're definitely coming back! Just next time I'm bringing my own steak knife. 🤣

We chose this place because of the Google reviews and they were dead on. My husband and I needed a nice night out and this was the perfect place. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet yet elegant. We came during the Christmas season and the decorations were beautiful. The wine list was good but the food was excellent. I had the prawns, risotto and my husband had the Caesar salad with blackened chicken.

It’s so refreshing to see there are still classic restaurants in this part of California offering a unique and high-class experience. A little pricy but worth it. Waitresses are all professional and provide the best service. Definitely try their lamb shank.

Fun place with pretty good live band music and dancing floor. You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. We sat outside for the live music. They have plenty of heaters to keep you warm. Our waiter and his helper were super attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious except the chicken piccata which was a little dry and we didn’t care for the sauce. Scallops were to die for. Absolutely made to perfection. Fresh, soft, moist, and tasty. I really enjoyed them. Super busy because of Friday night music and yet our waiter was able to handle everything nicely. We didn’t order mixed cocktails so I can’t say much about our drinks. I ordered tea after dinner and our waiter was kind to keep refilling the hot teapot for me and gave us complimentary sweets. Overall great experience. We will definitely come back and recommend Spin A Yarn to anyone who appreciates good food and entertainment.

Exceptional experience. I very seldom review on the basis of a single experience, but this place stands out. Given that it was practically overwhelmed by multiple parties and events on Father's Day weekend, the service was remarkable. Not just 'quick' but timed. Our server saw that we were, in fact, old friends 'spinning yarns', along with neighbors dropping by, so no worries! Try the lamb shank. It's the best in the city.

Stepping into this restaurant was a lot like stepping back in time, in a good way. The service and the staff where great as well, and when we came in there even was a guitar player playing Santana covers. The food on the other hand was what I’d call “Acceptable” The steak was in fact a steak, nothing less, nothing more. The sides where starchy, the veggies steamed. It was bland but serviceable. Maybe it would be cool to get drinks there? As far as a sit down dinner? It’s better than chilis and maybe around outback quality. But the atmosphere was nice.

We stopped in for a business lunch. We asked to be seated outside in an open air but shaded space. I had their beef burger (1/2 lb beef patty, Cheddar Cheese, Balsamic Onions, Romaine, Special Sauce, Herbed French). Grilled onions is a favorite and it definitely upped my liking of the sandwich. Our service was quick and friendly.

Was in for a work trip and met a dear local friend here for dinner. We picked, due to location and reviews. We had a 6P Rez on a Thursday and it was not too busy which was nice for us in doing a ton of catch up. We had a lovely booth and received 5 star friendly service from Keith! We ordered the spin a yarn “prawns”, prime rib dinner, mushroom pasta and coconut cream pie. The food was good/solid. They give you French bread, plenty of it… I will say the “prawns” did not seem like prawns given size, taste and texture but the sauce was good. The coconut cream pie was fantastic!

Very good American style cuisine. Many of the popular comfort foods:. pastas, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, lamb, calimari, etc. Old style dark wood surroundings, feeling more like a lounge. Good stuff.

Food was pretty good. I’d go back for more. The Bay Area doesn’t have the best restaurants IMHO. Female bartender Fri.-? My party of 2 arrived there at about 8pm, knowing they are open until 11pm. The location was easy to find and parking was convenient. We have been trying to go here since 2012, after it aired on "Kitchen Nightmare". It was my birthday so we finally had the time and occasion to go. We entered and without a reservation, we were seated right of way. The ambiance was nice. The lighting was subtle and there was music of the 70's playing softly in the background. We both ordered the prime rib, medium well and expected it to be brought out to us by cart and served table side, but it was not. When our plates arrived, one was medium well and the other was well done. We alerted our waiter and he told me that I happened to be served the very last piece of prime rib, which explains why we were not served table side. He was kind enough to make me another plate and suggested the rib eye steak without the additional fees. He was both professional and apologetic for the error. He offered to bring me another salad, which by the way was very tasty. The citric vinaigrette was amazing! I declined and decided to just sit and wait the extra minutes until my meal arrived. Once my second plate arrived it was perfectly cooked... medium well. Upon serving my plate of food the waiter apologized again and informed us that our choice of dessert would be on the house. The serving portion was huge so I actually wasn't able to complete the whole rib eye steak... but leaving enough room for dessert. We requested coconut cream pie for dessert and my slice was brought out with a candle in it, because we had mentioned earlier to our waiter that we came to celebrate my birthday. I did not give a 5 star rating because my original order was not correct. I scored it a 4 star. I would go back again though and recommended others to try because the atmosphere and the service was pleasant.

We stopped in for lunch and almost had the place to ourselves. Our server was fast and efficient, friendly and knowledable abput the dishes. The corn chowder was excellent. The house salad was tasty with bleu cheese. The carbonara was made with cream and fresh peas and was great. The atmosphere was classy.

We were surprised about this place!! We got steaks and wine for dinner, so delicious and tender. I would say only the mashed potatoes wasn’t my fav, looks like was from a box. Sports bar atmosphere along with some cozy booth and table in the main area. The rack of lamb was very delicious. Prime rib was so so. The quality of meat could have been better. And the trim on the meat could be done better. Tiramisu and cheese cakes were delicious. And I a thought critique on desserts. Service was great!

I had a pleasant lunch at Spin A Yarn Steakhouse today! We ordered three burgers (8 oz Beef Burger), one filet mignon, angel pasta with pesto sauce, and a seafood linguine. The overall atmosphere of this place was quite vintage and old-timey, very traditional yet fancy. The lights were dimmed quite a lot, providing a cozy, intimate atmosphere here. The service was welcoming and very friendly! We were provided with bread and butter, and our server was very open to recommending us certain dishes. The food we ordered was average for a steakhouse, not bad but not worth really noting on. Portions were definitely generous, although the pasta tasted a little bland. I don't recommend the angel pasta that much. However, the filet mignon was alright. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the meat was perfectly tender and soft (we ordered medium rare). The burger is alright, although the patty was quite thick. The burger was meaty, but had a hint of sweetness. The food is quite alright, but the costs were overly expensive.

Ordered halibut and it was pretty good. This is a good place for steak, but if you don't want red meat, the choices are limited here. Awesome service and cozy atmosphere.

Had a pleasant experience at this place. The steak was beatifully cooked, but the meat quality fell a bit short for a prime grade. There is nothing special about the bread and butter. Wine selections are limited. Tiramisu tastes a bit cheap with the chocolate sauce on top. Overall, it was a good experience, but it was not worth the money paid.

A very old fashioned American steakhouse. You won’t be disappointed but you won’t get super excited either. The main dish, lamb shank and lamp chops, were definitely tasty but the soup and drinks were just okay. Tiramisu was below average.

Had dinner there on Saturday and it was empty when we got there about 5pm. More people came between 5-6 and they had to large parties. Our waiter was great and super nice and was on his game. Our drinks never empty, didn't have to wait long to the food. BUT.. we ordered the calamari app and it was EH. Most pieces were rubbery and didn't have much flavor. Several pieces were beyond edible as they were way to hard. I ordered the pasta and the seafood that came it was decent. Not much flavor. Some mussels and clams were over cooked and couldn't get them out of the shell. The prime rib had a lot of fat on it. For the prices that we paid I would have expected more flavor especially since we were there before the crowd. I'm willing to try it again in the future.

Service was great, atmosphere was good. I ordered the salmon and I was disappointed. It was very dry and the seasoning was blah. The rice didn't seem like good quality rice. The salad was good, the coconut cream pie was delicious and the drinks were good. For what they charge, I would expect much better in regard to the food!

Food is good, especially the “soup of the day” is great, where I got clam chowder with decent amount. Lamb shank is tender and delicious although a bit too salty. One thing I do want to point out and warn is that this restaurant still charges 4% of “California surcharge” if you pay by credit card, which is no longer legal unless customers are told upfront, and apparently they won’t tell you upfront. It most likely will make customer to deduct this from tips paid to service people.

First time here in over a year. Not a kind year has it been for the Spin. Same friendly helpful service, but food has gone down hill. Carpaccio was a sea of olive oil with little to add taste and did not come with thin-sliced bread/toast to eat with it. Server brought some after we requested... Indicative of my experience with the rest of the food. Steamed vegetables were limp and over-cooked. My dining partner enjoyed the scallops, giving them a 4+. Still the best steakhouse in miles, but now it is less about Spin than it is about the next two, Claim Jumper and Outback. Gordon Ramsey, where are you?

Went to this place due to recommendation from coworker, and it was just okay. The atmosphere was good with an oldie type feel but the food, for the price (spent $160 for two people, 1 steak and 1 drink each) was just okay. The steak and scalloped potatoes were lacking flavor, although the cream spinach was good. Atmosphere wasn't help by an obnoxious Celtics fan screaming like a banshee, but I wouldn't hold that against the restaurant. Overall decent place but food didn't live up to the hype. I also don't like that the menu doesn't have prices of their steaks, just states MP for market price. How does every other restaurant do it without issue?

We have been coming to this restaurant for awhile and it was my wife's birthday I had specified it on the reservation and nothing was said to her usually something is said also our food was on the cold side we did not saying anything about it we just eat it we also waited so long for our food to arrive

The service was great, they really do make you feel welcome. Sadly, that was the only highlight. The food was well below average for any steakhouse I've been to and that's not even counting how expensive the meal was.

I had lunch at Spin A Yarn a few weeks ago and ordered the chicken alfredo. Unfortunately, it was pretty underwhelming. The food was watery and lacked flavor. It honestly felt like the dish hadn’t been tasted before it left the kitchen. The saving grace was our waitress who was really sweet and brought a warm, friendly vibe to the table. That said, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

I ordered, The Calamari. It's clearly pulled out of a box frozen food. Terrible. The Crab cake was even worse which is saying a lot, also from a frozen food box. Save your money! I couldn't manage to eat either. The cost was ridiculous. The Ceasar salad is ok. Service, ok. The Friday night clam chowder did not have more than 2 clams in my chowder bowl, but I enjoyed the taste.

Super friendly. I ordered a steak. The steak came out within a few minutes which seemed kinda iffy to me. The steak (angus Ribeye) did not taste like angus quality. My two other sides were also lacking quality and flavor. Do not recommend coming here.

I have been to this place probably 10+ times. If you had initially asked me what you thought, based on my first four visits, I would have told you absolutely stunning. That included the food and atmosphere. Then after I kept coming back, things changed. The bartenders are amazing, talkative, and attentive. The patrons at the bar, if you are a female by yourself, can be super aggressive and completely overbearing. Enough where it not only makes me uncomfortable but also the staff. It seems as if this is a local bar/restaurant, so maybe the patrons feel that they can do what they want. The food is always consistently inconsistent, which you think for the premium it would be way more consistent than it is. The filet seems like they have an extremely hard time getting it cooked to medium. The free-range roasted chicken was not grilled or roasted, but at the very least pan seared in oil, which kept me from being slightly healthy. The tiramisu was complete garbage. I have had better grocery store ones. The outside of the tiramisu all the way around was stale/hard bread and completely tasteless. I do not know how anyone could write the reviews that are listed saying this is the best they have ever had. The berry dessert, on the other hand, was a complete home run. Maybe it is the season, or maybe it is the cold weather. I am sure I will give them a shot in the future, and hopefully, they can get their consistency back that had me fall in love with them, as well as the quality of the food too.

We recently held a birthday party for my grandfather at Spin a Yarn, and it was an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. The issues began with the food, which was utterly subpar—certainly not worth the $52 per person we were initially quoted. However, things went from bad to worse when we received the final bill: we were charged $57 per person because we took leftover food home (mind you, no one told us we couldn’t take leftovers, and the waiter even provided us with to-go boxes). To make matters even more appalling, we were charged for four additional guests who weren’t even there. This kind of deceptive and nickel-and-diming behavior is shameful and insulting. It’s no wonder this restaurant had to call in Gordon Ramsay to save it—without his intervention, Spin a Yarn would have closed its doors years ago. Clearly, whatever lessons they learned during their "Kitchen Nightmares" stint have long since been forgotten. To top it all off, the roof was leaking during the event, adding a literal dampener to what was supposed to be a celebratory occasion. For a venue that touts itself as an upscale establishment, this was downright embarrassing. Spin a Yarn may have been able to mask its flaws for TV, but the reality is far from the image they portray. I would strongly advise anyone considering this place for an event—or even just a meal—to think twice. There are far better restaurants in the area where you’ll actually get what you pay for without being subjected to dishonesty and poor service. 1 star. Avoid at all costs

Not what we expected from a $450 bill. Wife and I are accustomed to large expensive meals, but don't really feel this place lived up to expectations. Server was great. Tipped him $75, it's not his fault the food was just so so. Had a nice quiet table near the door, evening looked like it was shaping up fine. Appetizers: five people, the Prawns were 5, so that works, delicious. Crab cake, one round cake, kind of hard to split five ways, tasted ok, but I've never gotten one giant crab cake. About half of us liked it. Fried Zucchini was alright, little spears, not enough sauce really, order didn't get finished, kind of speaks for itself. For the main course, meats varied. Rib eye 24 oz, don't be a sucker and go for the size, tough cut, lot of fat and gristle. Filet was good enough, the new York was the best steak by far. But no smoky flavor, tasted like they were cooked on a griddle despite the marking. Potatoes were blah, creamed spinach was undercooked, cream not very creamy. Garlic fries weren't really garlicky. Green beans were al dente, not special. Will not be back. Don't know where the good reviews are coming from, owner must have a lot of friends. Oh, let's not leave out the party of ten they seated near us the last half hour of our visit, they had 5 obnoxious kids laughing, playing, screaming, climbing, come on people! Feed your kids some McDonald's on the way so the whole world doesn't have to bear the burden of your inadequate parenting! Jeez! Couple at the table behind us were livid! I'm all for family outings, was in fact hosting one myself, but for this atmosphere kids should at least be trying to behave.

I came here for the first time for lunch. Was one of the first people in. And was excited to try out a local restaurant. I got the pasta carbonara which included either soup or salad. I had my soup. It was not as I would expect a corn chowder to taste but it was warm and because I was the first one they had not turned the heater on yet. So the restaurant was cold so the soup at least made it a bit better. The young lady who helped me was very attentive. She was very helpful. That's my service. Got five stars. My pasta came out and it had quite a lot of Alfredo sauce which I understand some people very much. Enjoy. The peas unfortunately seem to have been a bit overcooked and the pieces of bacon were not really. What I would think would come into a carbonara but I let it go. I ate a little bit of it and they didn't want it boxed up. I'd been asked a couple times if everything was okay and I said that was fine. Upon receiving my check and looked at it and there was an extra $2 charged for the soup. I looked on the menu online and they also had it stating that when you got the pasta you had a choice of soup or salad. I asked the server about it and she said she'd be back. I could hear her explaining it to another wait staff. They spoke for quite a while and then came back. I was told that it was a misprint and that it was charged and that it was all within. Each item was extra. I showed them on the original menu that it said it was included. I then was told again that it was going to be charged. The manager then let me know that nothing was for free anymore that salads were going up and that it was a misprint. I told her I understood that but when I had ordered I was not informed about that. Even though I had asked a lot about the salad in the soup to make a decision. There was no mention that it would also cost more or that there was a misprint on the website as well as on the menus. She kept saying it's just $2. Not understanding that it wasn't down to the amount that was at it to my bill but the fact that there was no apology to it. They were just so adamant that I should just accept it that I would be required to pay more for their mistake. They repeatedly it was a misprinted non-updated menu and the misrepresentation of what the menu clearly stated. The manager ended up taking $2.25 out of the cash register and the waitress brought it to me. No apologies. No kindness. Nothing. This disheartens me because I would have liked to have a local place to have some lovely pasta.

Life is short, so read this review and save some of yours. My family and I went here for dinner, and it was a disastrous experience: the seafood was old, prime rib bland and overcooked, and then the owner came out and verbally berated and shouted at us for sending back a prime rib for being over-cooked. The venue has multiple repeat health code violations. If you can go anywhere else for a meal, please do so. You'll be saving yourself money as well as grief. We ordered rockefeller oysters and prime ribs (medium rare). The oysters were hit or miss, some were clearly old and had a foul smell. When we queried the server, they stated they were fresh. We explained that some of these are clearly expired, the response was a shrug and "they are fresh!". When the prime rib was served, it was medium-well done, rubbery, bland, and lacking marbling. We flagged down our server and asked to send it back as it wasn't cooked to our requested doneness. They said it's medium-rare but they can take it back if we would like. They quickly brought out a new slice, but it was more of the same: medium-well done. We didn't feel like we were getting anywhere and stated we would just keep this slice and thanked the server. Only a few moments later did an individual come bursting out of the kitchen shouting and swearing at us. It turned out to be the owner. We politely tried to explain that the slice was not cooked to our liking, but he immediately continued to escalate the situation stating that what we had was medium-rare, we were idiots, and we knew nothing about food. We told him we simply wanted to enjoy our meal, but he continued to yell at us and enter our personal space at the table. At one point he briefly left and then came back to yell at us and to pay our bill, leave, and to not return. I can't imagine what would cause an owner to immediately verbally assault a customer for politely requesting their food be properly cooked, but it happened here. If this is how customers are treated, imagine how the staff are treated once the doors are closed. I just wish I had watched Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (S4E13) which featured this restaurant, prior to deciding to eat here. In the show, the restaurant had expired oysters, moldy food and meat, and served cold and improperly cooked prime rib. G.R. redid their logo and designed a new menu, but it is clear that after the show the changes to the quality did not remain. Case in point, just look at the continued multiple health code violations or repeat reviews on Yelp and elsewhere which notate the poor quality of the prime rib. Ironically, in that G.R. KN episode some of the customers' prime rib came out under-cooked (e.g. ordered medium rare and it came out bloody rare), and even G.R. himself noted the seafood was old or canned and the beef was rubbery. For $65 at House of Prime Rib (SF), you get a world class meal. For $55 here, you are verbally assaulted by the owner after being served expired oysters and ill-prepared prime rib. Stay safe, life is too short for this.

1st time visitors. Wanted the Prime Rib but it was sold out due to an overbooked party schedule...kind of makes you wonder why they took additional reservations to begin with. Had the corn soup chowder and shrimp cocktail for starters. The chowder was almost gross. A watery concoction of corn, potatoes and nasty. $6 was an overcharge Shrimp cocktail at $18. Absolutely nothing to speak of here about as average as a $5 cost at Raley's for the same. Entre was fillet mignon as they were sold out of the prime rib. 1st time I have ever had fat/grissell on a piece of fillet mignon. $245 for what I could have made better at home for less than half. Wait staff was awkward and our waitress asked way too many times how things were..she kind of knew I suspect. Waste of time and money.

The dress code is very lax. For being almost empty it was very loud. Either someone can't handle that liquor, they attract the wrong crowd or they don't know when to cut someone off. Now I don't expect it to be silent but I don't expect to lose my hearing because of a couple of loudmouths. The noise level was unacceptable loud. My first impression is to not come back. Crab cake was mediocre at best. The salad looked reasonable. Prime rib is ok but market price was ridiculous. If you're under the age of 60 you're going to feel out of place. I will not be come back. Even thow house of prime rib is literally 50 mi. Away from me I would much rather go there. The server was great but the company outside my party like acting like 12 yr. Old kids rather than the 60+ yr oldest they were.
