Had a great lunch at one of my favorite beach spots in Galveston today, FISH TALES Awesome view, service was so friendly and food was incredible! I even got to try one of their new salads the southwest shrimp salad, it was a feature item, but it’s going to be on their new menu soon!
Our server was super nice. Drinks were good and the food was delicious. The shrimp kisses were the BEST thing since sliced bread it’s shrimp and cheese wrapped in bacon 🤌🏼🤤 Perfect location. Great place for kids there’s ice cream, icees and kids menu with colors. Perfect family joint! We went on a Friday, not crowded.
First time ever eating at this place and I have to say, really great first time! The wait staff was awesome (super friendly), the food wait time was minimal, and the food overall was great! The seafood that I ordered was cooked all the way through, and the margaritas were nice too. Will be back for more good food and good times!
Our service was prompt and well executed, Miranda took care of our needs including navigating our dietary restrictions with the chefs. Fun environment and a chill dinner spot. As frequent travelers we understand dining off of piers can be hit or miss. This was mostly what we would expect. The fish tail was the highlight of our meal. Were we suppose to eat it? 😅
The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and Kelsie’s service was spectacular. She was super attentive and sweet. The views were perfect for sunset too.
We ate here on Christmas while traveling. It was busy but absolutely delicious. Management stayed on top to help fill our drinks and make sure our stay was great. The food was unbelievably!
We visited Katie's yesterday and Fish Tales today. This was the winner. The flavors and portions were perfect. I got the steak and shrimp. Got the shrimp blackened. Excellent. We shared an order of crab legs. Cooked perfect. Broke apart easily and the meat stayed intact. My wife got the broiled trio with salmon, crab cakes, and shrimp. Excellent! Daughters got coconut shrimp and the crab and shrimp Alfredo. Everything was so good. We were so sharing bites back and forth so everyone could enjoy the flavors. Great service. Bobbi was on point! Would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. It's not cheap but it was worth it.
Am from Saudi Arabia and I ate there me and my family Great experience! The food was excellent and everything was handled perfectly. Special thanks to the manager, Amanda — she was very professional, attentive, and made our visit even better. We truly appreciated her kindness and care.
Celia was our server and she was the nicest server I have seen in a long time, the food was amazing but os ver dependent on what you get but everybody has their own food that they enjoy, The atmosphere was amazing. We have a good view of the pier and it’s right next to a fountain in a great view of the Sea.
Came here with a party of 16 and were accommodated perfectly! Celia gave us spectacular service, was very attentive and thorough! You have got to try their special, the Coastal Redfish (pictured)! We don’t come to Galveston often, but will definitely be back! Thanks for the great dining experience!
Celia was AWESOME! She asked before we ordered if anyone had any allergies or diet restrictions. I am gluten free so she went over what I could have and made sure it was cooked right. Food was ABSOLUTELY delicious too!
Everything was good about this place. Waiter was awesome, his name is Diego. Food was honestly super fantastic. And check this out, if a restraunt gets their cole slaw AND their fries right, its a place worth visiting. The margaritas rock too. I got the Catfish. AMAZING. My wife had a burger, their smash burger. EXCELLENT. MIL had seafood fettuccine which was also really good. Had bites of them all. Have fun here guys and gals. Oh and eat outside if the weather is right. Jason and Rachel from Dallas.
It was our family's first time dining at this restaurant, and we were immediately greeted by friendly faces upon entry. We requested an indoor table with a view and were promptly escorted to our seat by the cheerful staff. Our server quickly attended to us, serving our drinks and taking our initial order without delay. The appetizer arrived promptly as well. We ordered the pan-seared yellowfin tuna, fried chicken BLT, gumbo soup, and calamari. Each dish was served warm and met our expectations in terms of taste. Overall, we loved both the food and the service. The view was an added bonus.
We went on Christmas Eve. Got there about 6. It wasn't packed. We really enjoyed eating there. The staff is very friendly, engaging and attentive. The food was quite wonderful: We had Fish & Chips, Catfish and shrimp. Great fries too! We highly recommend!
As a local we usually don’t eat at major restaurants, but Fish Tales never disappoints! The crawfish is above and beyond expectations. Celia takes great care of you, which makes everything that much better!
It was nice to be in Galveston after Hurricane Beryl! It's almost business as usual. This is a favorite place to eat and enjoy the view. The food took a minute today, but it was worth the wait. The weather was perfect, it would be nice if you didn't have to pay for parking. $15! We have been there before around lunchtime and didn't have to pay. I am not sure how it works but it says Pleasure Pier on the lot, so if you dine here , you're out $15. This is upsetting and i could go on forever. It's fun to get out of Houston and Galveston is a groovy getaway. The food at Fish Tales was excellent!
The food, atmosphere, and service was superb. The parking was easy and the bulding is easily accessible. We ordered the gumbo and we are from Louisiana and I must say it was delicious. However, the crawfish egg roll was our favorite. We will return because we frequently visit Galveston. Oh, and the manager came out and greeted us; that’s a common practice at fine dining restaurants but, he made sure to speak, shake hands, and ask our names. A simple lunch turned into an experience. Hats off to you …..
We loved this place. We had blackened red snapper, a Cesar salad and the seafood platter. Everything was wonderful. Along with oysters on the half shell, nice and salty and fresh. Cold tap beer and a shot of patron with lime. Great and fast service even during the motorcycle rally going on locally.
Mike, our server, was excellent. He was friendly, made excellent recommendations and made sure everything was exactly as it should be. The food was also amazing. My son has the blackened snapper, I had the trio with salmon, shrimp and crabcake. Highly recommended! We also had pickles and calamari for appetizers.
Restaurant was conveniently near the parade route when we visited in February. Food was good for the prices and the service was also very quick. The restaurant gave a party like family atmosphere with ice cream and bar service available. Overall a place for great fish, chicken or steak when it is needed. Much recommended to try in Galveston.
Our server truly made the experience special. She was attentive without being intrusive, incredibly friendly, and so kind throughout our meal. We felt very well taken care of and really enjoyed Celia’s positive energy. Excellent service!
If you come here, make sure to ask for Pete! He went above and beyond to make our lunch amazing. I wanted a very specific drink that wasn’t even on the menu, and he worked with the bartender to make it happen, it turned out absolutely perfect. On top of that, he even got the kitchen to make me the Mardi Gras Pasta, even though it’s no longer listed. Pete also took his time to walk us through all the specials and chef’s specials, which really helped us pick the best dishes. His service, attention, and effort were truly outstanding. We’ll 100% be back! and it’ll be to sit in Pete’s section again!
We visited Fish Tales during the week on a semi-cold day.. it was lovely. The service was friendly and fast. The coconut shrimp, fries, and baked fish were good. We had a good hour here. Nice views on the pleasure pier, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was also good.🍤🍤 again, I really loooooved coconut shrimp🥲
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Saturday night we put our name down for the wait for 3, figured we could wait an hour and some change. Decided maybe better to order to- go, we found 3 seats at the bar with our bartender Gerry and before we could even get comfortable and order drinks..our hostess Makayla let us know our table was ready! Patrick the manager also stopped by! Concetta our server made us feel so welcome and had plenty of recommendations!! We had such and amazing day here in Galveston and Fish Tales and staff was the oyster on top! 🦪 Will recommend and be back!! 🌊
BEST meal we’ve had out in a long time! We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was delicious! Then for dinner we had the Broiled Trio, and y’all!…DELICIOUS doesn’t even begin to describe it! It was the best salmon, shrimp and definitely the best crab cake we’ve ever had! And our side of dirty rice along with perfectly grilled veggies were perfect! Topped it off with a yummy scoop of Oatmeal Cream Pie ice cream at Celia’s recommendation. Y’all need to try all this!
What a fun little place with great views. We sat on the deck overlooking the ocean and snacked on jumbo and coconut shrimp with some local beers. Good stuff! Good service is hard to come by but we had an awesome server in Kehlani! My only complaint is no beer prices on the menu. Hate that, but would come back again.
We came here today on Juneteenth, and I’m so happy we chose this restaurant. We were immediately greeted upon entering and sat inside with a nice view of Pleasure Pier. Our waitress was Miranda and she delivered exceptional service! She was very personable, friendly, attentive, readily available and provided us with great recommendations for drinks. The drinks were SO GOOD! We got the Caribbean Swirl and Sunset Punch. The food was amazing, no complaints at all. Thank you Miranda for being awesome and for being our waitress! If the manager is reading this, please give Miranda a raise - she deserves it!
We went in with moderate expectations since this was right across from Pleasure Pier. But we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Most popular choices here are fried, but we went with lighter options. The caesar salad with salmon was a wonderful, fresh entree. The dressing was so nice and garlicky, and the salmon was cooked perfectly! The salmon was on the soft side and seasoned generously. The shrimp cocktail was also very good. We sat upstairs in the covered patio, and we got a nice view of the ocean.
We had our wedding dinner reception at Fishtails in their private cove room and it was such a special night! Ms Stirling made Booking the room, planning, decor, and room setup super easy and fun! The whole experience exceeded our expectations beautifully! Stirling and the team helped make our dream reception come true! We highly recommend FishTales and the lovely Ms Stirling for your next special event! They have everything you need to create an event to forever remember with the delicious food, amazing staff and service, a spacious room and an elegant style tailored to your vision! And it’s all Within an affordable price! Thank you FishTales! We look forward to having future celebrations with yall!
It’s casual beachside dining, but the quality shines. Whether you’re lingering over specialty cocktails on the patio or sampling the chef’s seafood trio, there’s that comforting feeling that you’re being taken care of — by staff who know their menu and care that your plate reflects the best of the Gulf. While peak seasons can get busy (a good problem to have in paradise), the team’s genuine hospitality usually shines through, keeping the experience upbeat and welcoming....
We had a great experience at Fish Tales during Mardi Gras. The food was amazing, the coconut shrimp and fish tacos were really good. The atmosphere was cool with a coastal vibe. The food was a bit pricey but worth it. What really made our visit unforgettable, though, was our waitress, Celia. She was honestly the best ever! From the moment we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made us feel so well taken care of. Her positive attitude and friendly personality made us sure we had to leave her a positive review. If you’re in Galveston and looking for great seafood and top-notch service, this is the place to go, and definitely ask for Celia if you can!
Staff was very nice and we were seated quickly. They have a good location across from pleasure pier with balcony seating facing it. Their drinks were good but the margarita on the rocks had a pool of salt at the bottom resulting in the crunchiest drink I've had. The fried catfish was very well balanced, not too battered or greasy.
Nice little spot. Excellent location. we had some appetizers and drinks off the happy hour menu and it was good food for a good price with good service. Compared to the other places we ate at in Galveston. We were very pleased with this place. .
This visit/review was from December 25, 2020. Who knew they’d be so busy on Christmas Day? But they were slammed and we had a group of 10-20. We had reservations and they gave us a back room all to ourselves, but only one waiter. It started off fine, but there were many who were left waiting to receive their food. Food tasted fine. Lesson learned—either don’t go with a large group or don’t go on a holiday—for sure don’t do both!
We, family of 5, came in on a Thursday around 5. We asked to sit upstairs on the patio and were seated immediately. Our server came out and took our drink and appetizers order. We told him we weren’t ready to order our main entrees yet, he came back twice to check on us before we were finally ready to order. He did not rush us and allowed us to enjoy our appetizers and take our time. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and he even brought out extra chips since we were a larger party with kids. He promptly refilled our children’s icee’s when they needed a refill. I was drinking water with lemon when he brought out my refill it didn’t not have a lemon, no big deal but he noticed and brought me a plate of lemons to add to my water. The kitchen messed up part of my husbands order, they forgot part of his trio platter but the brought it out not too long after we got our meals. Food was good and waiter was nice. I will say my steak was a little more rare than medium rare but was still delicious and my daughter ordered fish sticks but she got what looked like friend tilapia, which she ate and said was good but she was really wanted the fish sticks. They also give a very generous amount of French fries with the kids meals. I gave 4 stars because for $200 + a tip I think we could have gone without the missing food, correct kids meal and slightly undercooked steak but overall would recommend and will be back again. Prior to the last visit it had been a few years since we’ve been here but we’ve never had a bad experience. My biggest issue was having to pay $10 to park in a parking long that use to be free since the restaurant is literally in the parking lot but not your charged for parking which I’m not sure if that related to the restaurant or pleasure pier but I do believe it’s due to pleasure pier. There was free parking along the street or in the parking lot across from the restaurant but I did not want to have to walk to the restaurant when it literally sits in a parking lot.
The food and view here were great!!! The day was nice and breezy, and the food was cooked right well done and flavorful. Our waitress was friendly but the only issue was that she was very forgetful. She forgot about our drinks, silverware, sauces, alcohol drink and items we didn't want in our food was still placed in our food, and was just forgetful most to where she would also say she forgot. The restaurant wasn't to pack and she was attending to 4 or 5 tables, but we didn't let it ruin our day we still had a great view and great food.
Food was delicious. My servers, Jason and Celia were very professional. They gave me inside details about the menu and providing me with recommendations The atmosphere was great and the upstairs staff was a wonderful to work with.
I'm not going to give them 5 stars like I had hoped to sadly... Service was great, restaurant was clean and welcoming, and SOME of the food... Well... I've been to Fishtails MANY times before and have always had great food in the past, never a complaint! Tonight, however, definitely was a bit disappointing. Maybe because we arrived an hour before closing time? I thought that didn't matter, but I digress. My mom and son had a loaded baked potato, my son's was fresh, cooked to perfection while my mom's, well, you could tell it was cooked at LEAST a day or 2 ago and had sat in the fridge before reheating because the skin was so tough you couldn't put a fork through much less a knife. My brother and I ordered the blackened fish tacos which were pretty ok, but you'd think for the price, you'd get more fish and cabbage in each taco. It seriously looked like there was barely a fourth of a filet per taco and a smidge of cabbage! It wouldn't have been a problem if the tortillas were smaller, but it made the food look like the cooks were told to be stingy with the food. The fries tasted like they sat under a heat lamp for idk how long, but is that their normal way? I've never had the fries before tonight, I've always ordered the coconut shrimp (my go-to) I just wanted to switch it up for the first time (learned my lesson). Another of my son's ordered the crawfish egg rolls. They sounded amazing, but the outside was soggy and the stuffing didn't taste right. ... Again as many times as I've been to Fishtails, this is the first time I've ever had a negative experience so don't be too discouraged. Maybe go a bit earlier than we did. I, truthfully would go back tomorrow, but maybe not order this for again or all the server about these problems ahead of time.
Very nautical themed as it should be. We came here specifically for Crawfish, however after eating them, it felt as if they had already had them cooked and boiled them again to warm them up because a lot of them were dried out and hard. The seasoning was delicious but a little on the spicey side, so be prepared for that. I really wish they had bibs to eat because it's really messy to eat and squirts on you. Our waitress was nice and made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, a pretty nice place and I'm sure it's cheaper than their neighbors.
This is a busy restaurant across from Pleasure Pier. We came in on Christmas Eve for dinner and although our server, Synthia, was moving fast she was still pleasant and professional. It was pretty busy but the restaurant was still fairly quiet. We had catfish and fried shrimp, both were delicious, as was my margarita (original beachin Rita). Our dessert was way over the top. Strawberry cream cake and peanut butter pie. We are not sure which one is as better. We will be back.
Great atmosphere, cocktail drinks were like juice 🥴 informed the waiter and placed another order but was the same. (Margarita, Cadillac) Ouster were yummy but was served without crackers so had to ask for it. I was craving for pasta. But was served no bread. So it was like something missing. Garlic bread would be great to add on the pasta. Also had soda, was hoping for a refill but after the main course was served, the waiter never came back until we called for the bill. The white uniforms were looking worn out so the waiters were looking more presentable in darker color. This are just honest observation. Im sure not all servers are the same. A room for improvement. Do not be discourage to dine here. It is still worth the view and food. Will still be my go to place so far in the area.
The shrimp tasted so good the best shrimp i ever had cooked just right , they have a deal every Tuesday $10 for shrimp with fries and coleslaw, we also ordered the catfish I didnt like the taste but this is the first time for me eaten it , our waiter was very nice I think her name is kendale , the seating area outside is very nice but we couldn't set outside because of the cold weather, inside also is nice .
We had an excellent experience at Fish Tales in Galveston. The drinks were perfectly made, the appetizers were delicious, and the food was cooked to perfection. Everything had great flavor and was served fresh. We sat on the balcony with a beautiful view of the beach, which made the meal even more enjoyable. What stood out the most was our amazing waiter—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. His service truly made our visit extra special. We’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Galveston.
We had a great time. Our server was Celia. She was fun and helpful. Great service.! I got the crab cakes with dirty rice. I would suggest more crab and less filler. The rice recipe tasted like box rice. They have started charging to park. I did not like that part. Great atmosphere and location.
Our server was very nice, very attentive. It was very nice, great customer service. Our food was yummy. They didn't have never many customers. Our server, was corrected on the floor. And I witness this. I feel there is a time & place for everything. We all need to be educated to do our jobs, but there is why to do it (positive way to do it).
Parking is confusing I was taken to a small table that was next to another table with a big party and I had no room to sit... There was other tables with plenty of room and no people but the host thought I should be crammed in that table and walked of like good luck so I had to sit on the end in the walkway it was very awkward prices seemed high but I did enjoy my food and I was hoping to sit upstairs with a view of pleasure pier or the ocean but I was put in the bk on the 1st floor so make sure u say what you want at the host stand cuz they don't care and will put u in the worst spot
Liked the food, the service and general vibe. But it was a bit pricey. Ordered the much famous shrimp kisses and crab balls. Ended up getting 5 pieces each and was charged $15.99 each.
The food was ok. Nothing amazing about it. The service was good. I feel they need to reamp their menu. Maybe offer more fresh fish options. The clam chowder i had was very tasty but wasnt happy of what the waiter stated. I asked if its made in house. She stated yes it is made every other day. I would expect fresh daily chowder. Also more drink options would be great.
Wanted outside deck, but due to staffing shortage, not recommended. Got a upstairs inside table. Seemed okay. But when we ordered our food, only half our groups ever came out. Waited, nothing. Finally had to ask. Then it finally came with no apology as we were told the manager would. Nothing. Really not that good. Recommend a better seafood restaurant by Pier 21.
We come here once a year because the food is good and it's a great place to take the kids with the pleasure pier right across the street. The only thing that kept this from being a horrible experience was the food. The food was excellent! I had the red snapper with the Ponchartrain topping and it was wonderful. I've had it before and it was just as good as I remember. The kid grilled cheese was delicious and the chicken nuggets were great. Oh, and the shrimp kisses were awesome! However... The drinks were wrong, that took 20 minutes to get, there weren't several things we never got that we asked for like water and condiments, napkins- things like that. We received the wrong side for one of the dishes and then we were charged for a substitution and didn't receive the side. When we finally did receive the side the waiter continually made comments about how we were getting a bigger bang for our buck. I can't put into words exactly how or why this is the worst service we received and how it ruined the experience, but it totally did. I didn't want to tip at all, but I'm not that person and did tip- since I used to be a waiter I get that everyone has a bad day. And all 3 tables had problems with wrong orders and not getting them corrected. I've visited many times and this is the first time I had such a bad experience.
Stopped here for a quick eat. We did come in to grab drinks and appetizers so I can really say much about the other part of the menu. But the oysters didn't leave me feeling the food would be any better. The texture was too rubbery I've eaten plenty of oysters and I've never had any taste like that. The shrimp cocktail was slightly disappointing . The waitress was great no issues with her she was very attentive and friendly. The tables we were sat on were very close and tight with the other set of tables. We were a party of 13 and the other 2 parties we had to each side were as big or bigger so it made it difficult to be comfortable. I'm not sure how I left feeling about this location. May need to give it another try on our next Galveston trip
Having drinks at the bar while waiting for my table, and chatting with the Honduran bartender was the best part of the experience. We were shown from the bar to our table and waited about 5 minutes before the server came to introduce herself. I asked for water for the table then placed an appetizer order. I noticed there was no silverware after we ordered, so I got up and got silverware for my party. When the appetizer arrived the server also walked up and asked if we needed anything. We were missing the sauce, oyster toppings, and lemons for our oysters. I asked again for water, which we never got. We placed the food order and didn’t see the server until after the food arrived because a kitchen runner dropped off the food. At this point, we had no drinks so I got up and ordered drinks at the bar for my party. The server came after we had started to eat our food to check how everything was. Overall, the service was not great. The server was not attentive at all. The fish tacos were good. The sauce, slaw, and aioli are a tasty combination to top off the grilled fish. The oysters were decent. I would have drinks here and eat somewhere else.
This place is in a perfect or prime location.Nice vibes easy going. Are waiter was 100% awesome, great very attentive. She new when to come around, and when to leave you alone and let you chill. The location is great right next to pleasure Pier plenty of people to see no experiences. now let's get to the food. I got shrimp and crab pasta it just happened to have sausage in it. Tell me why they look like they took a crab cake and just broke it up into pieces in the pasta. And I had more sausage than anythin. And the food was bland no taste at all. The drinks were good and if you order something fried that was good. I think the need to simplify the menu and not reach so much out of the wheelhouse I think they'll be okay. But should I come here again ? Yes and no I would go here if someone else wanted to. But I wouldn't go out my way to go here
We went to Fish Tales on the tail end of the dinner rush, 6:30ish on Saturday 2/4. We entered the restaurant and saw a manager, later we found out his name was John, running the host stand with four workers standing there. John said we could be sat immediately outside on the porch or we it would be a 40 minute wait for a table. We took the obvious option to sit outside immediately. John barked at one of the workers at the host stand to take us outside upstairs. We were seated at a table on the porch, there were three or four other tables sat on the porch at the time. Two waitresses came and went to their respective tables and we were not helped. After sitting for 20 minutes we collected our menus and walked back inside. While walking down the stairs, we ran into John, he didn’t acknowledge us; instead we told him we hadn’t been helped and sat there for 20 minutes. He directed us to follow him and he would make sure someone helped us immediately. We told him we didn’t want to sit outside any longer and wanted to sit inside to ensure our service was good. John barked at us that we’d have to check in at the host stand and get put back on the list. We went to check in and told again it would be 40 minutes. We found a bar top seat in the bar area. The wait wasn’t awful but there was a patron at the bar who was well beyond his limit and should have been cutoff several drinks prior, he was yelling while talking at people next to him and several people cleared out of the bar to avoid him. The wait was a solid 40 minutes. When we were sat at a table, our waitress, Wendy (who was AMAZING), got quadruple sat. Wendy was amazing. She provided prompt, excellent, over the top service. She was extremely apologetic for what had happened to us. We ordered off the restaurant week menu. Both appetizers (not pictured) arrived cold. The entrees arrived 5 minutes afterwards and were excellent. Wendy upgraded our desert for our trouble and our ice cream was excellent. Another troubling issue during our meal was on several occasions, more then two, we witnessed John (the manager) walk through the dining area and do nothing but bark orders at staff. One instance of this was as simple as getting water to refill a cup on a table…instead of quietly doing it himself it turned into a production when he turned around and demanded the closest waiter/waitress take care of it immediately. To the staff: Keep up the good work! Bad management will work itself out and adapt or leave. Y’all were amazing! Don’t get down on yourselves.
Granted it was New Year's Eve and I think they were having a party upstairs but with reservations just kind of expected a little bit better service. Individual running the floor complained about us being placed just as we were sitting down. On top of that our drinks took forever as in even after the appetizers showed up. Forget the second round. Had to just go to the bar and it was much quicker. Regarding the quality of the food, my vegetables were refrigerator cold, not room temp but cold and the one appetizer looked like it had been dipped in the oil to warm it up. It was just dripping. While there were happy employees there they were waiting on other tables or greeting folks downstairs. Bottom line service and food. Both get a subpar rating.
Restaurant was not busy, but took close to 45 minutes to get food. My husband’s catfish was rubbery. My blackened shrimp overcooked. Service was good. But upon going to the ladies room a dead baby mouse was in the hallway. I notified our server. When we left the restaurant the mouse still had not been removed. Won’t be going back there.
Ordered the crab cake balls for appetizers… it was 3 pieces smaller than a hush puppy. My husband had the fried shrimp… $30 for maybe 5 pieces of shrimp and a plate of fries. My fish tacos had tiny pieces of fish and barely any sauce on them. It was very disappointing. Our server was nice but we did have to ask to have our drink prices corrected. Margaritas were good!
Average experience here, we were excited to try it given the reviews and how crowded it looked but were definitely underwhelmed with food and drinks. After about 30 min wait on a Saturday afternoon around 6 pm we got our table outdoors on the top, which is probably the only saving grace for this place, since the views are good. However we ordered shrimp kisses and hubby got a burger since he is not into seafood and both items disappointed. We had to send the burger back as it was undercooked and the shrimp bacon thing was OVER salty!! Do not recommend the place for food unless you just want the views and something small to munch on. I will add that the floor manager came to us and apologised and took the burger off our bill. The server also shared her concern. Which was nice of them, however given the distance we traveled to explore this little town, I doubt we will be back here again.
Go for the atmosphere, views, and location but don't go for the food or drinks or prices. It's a low quality tourist trap through-and-through. The service was attentive and it was nice sitting outside watching the pier and seawall. But the food - all of it - was mediocre at best and very overpriced. The calamari was bland and chewy, the 'blackened' fish barely seasoned and totally overcooked to the point it was barely edible. The drinks are weak and sickeningly sweet - and we tried 3 separate kinds between us so it wasn't just a fluke. For how bad the food was, you'd think it would be inexpensive...but no. Not even close. 2 stars bc the wait staff were and atmosphere made it tolerable...but barely. I wonder if the owners ever actually eat from the kitchen.
Good service, and atmosphere with kinda attentive waiter, Fish was unfortunately very tasteless and chewy, was told by a tour guide it was freshly caught, unfortunately I find that hard to believe. Family who also got sea food (shrimp) also said it was quite rubbery. Chips were good though.
My girlfriend had the grilled shrimp and it was really good. I on the other hand had fish and chips. You would figure if a place is called fish tales it would have decent tasting fish dishes. NO By far the worse meal I have had in Galveston. The fish was tasteless, literally no flavor at all. I highly recommend ordering shrimp and get a Pina Colada they were delicious
On a recent Wednesday, my husband and I decided to visit our favorite seafood restaurant, eager for a delicious meal. Unfortunately, our enjoyable outing was marred by the attitude of our waiter, Jeffrey. Despite a nearly empty restaurant, he seemed irritable and lacked the welcoming service we expected. When we requested crackers, condiments, and soda refills, his response was dismissive and showed no empathy, clearly annoyed by our requests. Things took a turn for the worse when we asked about side dishes and kid-friendly drinks; he curtly informed us there were no options and that everything came with an extra charge. It was disheartening to feel like we were a bother rather than valued guests. Strangely, at the end of our meal, Jeffrey offered a surprisingly friendly invitation to return. I sincerely hope his manager notices this and helps him develop better manners for future customers. Despite my husband's gesture of leaving a tip—even though he didn't deserve it—we won't be returning. Our money is worth more than indifference, and sadly, this waiter made it clear he doesn't care about creating positive experiences.
Come to it because I asked one of the entertainers at the rainforest cafe for a business card and he gave me a complimentary chef’s featured desert card. Drinks took forever arriving moments before the appetizers and one was made wrong. The meal came a little later with us not eating but a bite or two not because we were full. I asked about the desert and they acted like that wasn’t a thing and didn’t know how he was getting those and handing them out. Asked if we wanted to go containers and we had to decline. Oh don’t ask about the cost of parking.
Love the place. 1st time going in years and was still good. But the parking is a joke. That is why I give a 1 star. Its a problem all over the island but its 15 bucks to park. This is becuase of the Pleasure pier. the parking around the building was free before Covid 19. The other option was the sea wall parking. I asked a waiter they even said they pay the 15 bucks for parking....to go to work, right?. What a joke. Yall need to fix that issue, which is killing the vibe of the famous island restaurant. Lots of pricy parking space fully open and lots of empty seating. 😕
Food was mediocre at best. Could've gotten better fish and chips at Long John Silver or Captain D's. Server Steven was doing his best balancing between bartending and waitressing and we appreciate that. Food was overcooked for sure.
Where do I begin with how disappointed my family and I with our first time visit. The one star is for the view only. The family wanted seafood and 4k reviews brought us to Fish Tales. We went on Friday and there was a hour late. Which was fine with us because it was a Friday night and we knew it would be busy. Once we were buzz that our table was ready, we were told to walk up stairs and our server would show us to our table. We walk upstairs and the server told us there is an hour wait, we told him we were buzz that our table was ready. The server tells us to have a seat any place on the patio. Once we get to the patio another server tells us there is an hour wait. We explain again we were buzz that our table was ready. We were seated and our drinks were brought out quickly. 20 minutes goes by and our server tells us the kitchen is back up. We didn't get our dinner until 40 minutes later. When we finally got our food it was warm. The kids ate because by that time we had waited so long they were starving. My appetite was totally gone by that time, so I just ate enough to put something on my stomach until breakfast the next morning. Long story short we waited 1hr to be seated and another 1hr for the food to come out. Talk about a waste of time and $162 dollars. This was not worth the wait, reviews or the money. Definitely won't be returning when I visit again.p
It's a tourist trap. Great location, used to be decently priced with pretty good dishes. I haven't been there in about 5 years, and won't ever go back. Awful service, poor attitude and slovenly attired help. First, they didn't even know that an order was ready for pickup, I was appalled watching them look around, pick up a bag of food, toss it aside, then 15 minutes later come back and drop it on the counter with "here". No receipt, no silverware, no napkins, no ranch dip, no ketchup, no cocktail sauce, nothing inside but soggy cold crap. Asked for ranch only to be met with a blank stare. Avoid at all costs. There are too many choices in a beachside town to put up with this crap.
We stopped in today and were seated, but after about 10 minutes no one had come to the table. Eventually someone asked whether we had been helped. We told her we had not, and she said she would be with us shortly. We then waited another 10 minutes. During that time the server walked past our table multiple times, made eye contact, and never stopped to assist us. There was also another staff member standing nearby who looked at our table and did not acknowledge us. What made the situation more uncomfortable was watching the table next to us be greeted and served right away. I truly don’t want to assume intent or make accusations, but from where we were sitting, the difference in treatment felt very noticeable and discouraging. Needless to say, we did not stay! I wanted to share this experience because it did not feel welcoming, and I hope it can be addressed.
We loved this restaurant mostly for the view and used to come here very frequently for 20 years. The food was good and the service most of the time very good. In the last 3 years everything has been deteriorating. We thought every time that we won’t come back anymore but still we really hoped they will fix the problems until yesterday. The waiting time was very very very long. The table was cleaned with a bar towel that smelled very bad and the most important the food was horrible. We asked for NO BUTTER on the grilled Red Snapper, just on the side. The fish was soaked in butter ( the so called butter is not butter at all) super dry and full of salt. The rice was fried in butter and very dry. The vegetables were mushy and the squash zucchini bitter too. We ordered the first bottle of wine that was finished before the food arrived (it took forever to bring the food because there were not enough waiters we were told) . We ordered a second bottle of wine when the food arrived and they brought it when we already finished our food. So nothing was right and we are never going back anymore. You can spend your many better elsewhere.
I recently had an unfortunate experience at this restaurant that I feel compelled to share. We arrived with a reservation for a party of 11 and faced a long wait just to be seated. To make matters worse, the adults were seated separately from the children due to a lack of accommodations, which was quite disappointing. After waiting for about 20 minutes without any service, I had to wave down a server to take our order. To our surprise, a serving of snow crab was brought to the children's table, but it was quickly whisked away after my child had begun to eat it. This was not only confusing for us but also upsetting for the kids. When the rest of the food finally arrived, it came out in a staggered manner, with a gap of about 20 minutes between each dish… and missing a side of fries which took :10mins on top of the wait. While I must admit that the food was tasty, the terrible service overshadowed the meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience. Everyone please dine at your own discretion
Have to say how extremely disappointed I am with our dinner tonight. Drove from Houston to take Aggie to dinner and wow, what an experience. Starting with the horrible crawfish egg rolls, which had NO FLAVOR. Then our entrees, the fried shrimp and fish, the shrimp were burnt to a crisp and the catfish was undercooked. Not raw, but limp, likely barely edible. I ordered a baked potato and it came out cold and hard, so basically undercooked. My daughter’s flounder sandwich was greasy and bad tasting. Being Landry’s club members we eat a lot of establishments of theirs, they should take their name off this one, it definitely isn’t up Tillman standards, just a cheap tourist trap across the street from Pleasure Pier
Party of 9, 3 6ft plus,250 pounders,4 regular size, 2 kids all squished on 2 4tops put together. Waited 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. 10 minutes later, some of our waters and sodas came. After 30 minutes, 2 of our 3 beers and a mixed finally made it to the table. Had to flag someone else down to get the other beer. By this time all the waters and soda were empty. Had to flag someone down to get refills. Another 30 minutes went by before food started coming out. There was 3 different fish dinners ordered, the guy says the fish plate, but doesn't know what kind. So we were left to figure it out. All but 1 dinners come out. After 5 minutes, we have to flag someone down for the final dinner and silverware for the table. We saw our actual waitress 2 times, to finally take our order and then to pay. This was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. 2 of the big dudes went home and ate again. The portion does not match the price. No comps offered either. After a $400 price tag and that type of service, it was really hard to want to leave a good tip. So, I just leave my honest reviews. Also, upon leaving the restaurant, there were numerous other people leaving and complaining of the same thing.
The waiter started by telling us the gratuity is 18%. After that, he told his name was Lester. He took the order for drinks, food. Brought out the drinks. The kitchen staff brought the food out. There was no silverware on the table. Had to ask other waiters for silverware. Lester only returned with the bill at the end, which had errors of multiple items charged double. This seemed intentional, as three items were charged at double quantity which was ordered and delivered at single quantity. Lester was not to be seen ever again. We once again, asked other waiters for to go boxes and packed out left overs and left. We don’t mind paying for the service but it has to be earned. Service was intentionally poor. We would not be coming back or recommend it for others. This used to be the go to place and we were returning customers for years. This was the last time we had visited. Shame on yall!
The restaurant is horrible. We ordered a dozen of raw oysters, and each of them are extremely small, that we can barely feel them exist. We ordered 4 pastas, and all of them are so disgusting that we can't even eat them, we feel it's not even made for human beings. When it comes to steak, we thought it'll at least be normal, but this restaurant immediately proved us wrong. The meat itself has extremely weird seasoning, and it's highly overcooked and hard; its side, the potato, feels uncooked and floured. It definitely doesn't worth $40, to be honest, not even $15. Lastly, the seafood platter looks big, but it's filled with a lot of fries. I can finish all the seafood without feeling like tasted anything. The fried shrimp contains cheese, and it's really bad. Every dish is so expensive, and they are even way worse than homemade meals. This is a restaurant that completely deceives tourists and uninformed people. Don't be fooled. Choose wisely, don't walk in here.
Had a horrible experiance here. Started off bad when the Sprite had no syrup. Watress took care of that, but then it got worse. I ordered the blackend redfish it was pretty much raw, way undecooked. I was told to eat the rice and veggies ok the plate and not even given new utensils. Nothing to worry about with bacteria or cross contamiation. They brought back out what looked like the exact same filet (cooked more). No manager ever came to the table. No attempt to apologize. We paid the full amount of the bill, tipped the waitress as it is not her fault the kitchen and managment team is horrible. I ended up in the ER for food poisoning. The manager does not seem to really care. Her attitude is that it was taken care of. I have never had such a horrible time at a Landry's resturant Emailed the guest sevices and they havent done anything. Finally got through to the GM. He was totally rude and dismissive. Tried to say i am lactose intollerant or something. Refused to refund the charge on my card. Trying to say the fish was not undercooked. Check the cameras and talk to Amanda. If she is honest she will let you know. DO NOT GO HERE For that matter based on Landry's corporate lack of response I would avoid all Landry's resturants.
I try to never give negative reviews. I really try. But if I am going to be honest, it's a "NO" from me on this one. I was really surprised at how much I did not enjoy this place. They WERE extremely busy when we went so maybe that was the issue. But the service was not great. The hostess was probably the worst I have ever seen. I had to speak to multiple people to finally get seated. Once seated I hoped it would get better. But the food was disappointing. The shrimp kisses were very good....I will say that. Everything else was a thumbs down. The fried shrimp were overcooked and rubbery with no flavor. Worst I have had in a long time. We also did not enjoy the taste of the crab balls. The views of the water are great, but overall it was just not a good experience. We will not be back.
