Had a really lovely dinner & drinks for my husband’s birthday. Super friendly staff, great variety of tapas. Ambience was inviting - it was a nice neighborhood spot!
Stopped in on a whim and am so happy I did. I had a few different bites and a range of drinks from wine to their housemade Pacharan. The bartenders do a stellar job of being quick and efficient while also connecting with people. The smaller bites I had were solid. Pan con tomate with some anchovies (the acid from the tomato went so well with the heavily salted fish) is so simple but reminds me of when I was young and broke, in such a great way. The Pacharan literally tastes like Christmas: so wonderful for desert. Every interaction with staff was great. Genuinely hospitable and gracious service. I can't wait to come back and bring my friends, colleagues, and family. It seems like the right place for everyone.
A great restaurant for a night out! The space is nice and warm, the service was very pleasant and friendly. The bartender was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was very delicious, the patatas were great and the seafood paella was amazing. The dessert at the end was mouthwatering. We also had very nice wine. Overall a great place to enjoy Spanish food, I will definitely go again.
Hidden gem. New owners have done an amazing job maintaining the best of a unique, special place while modernizing and expanding both the facility and the food/drink offerings. Whether sitting inside or outside, the charming and sophisticated atmosphere makes it feel like you have been transported to Europe for a few hours. Impress your friends and take them to Taberna, fantastic for both groups and couples. Love seeing new surprises appear on the new, easy to use menu.
This place is amazing! From the staff to the food to the drinks, this is the place you want to go. Such a great menu of tapas to choose from. I can't pick a favorite because they were all so good. I have a dairy allergy and I could eat most of what was on the menu! If you like good Spanish tapas, then eat here. You will thank me later. The staff are so friendly and accommodating that you feel like you are one of their regulars. Highly recommend this restaurant!
In from Oregon see family and travel. This was one of the ones I was suggested by a cousin. I was delighted by the delicious variety of food so much that I went back the next night because, I said to myself, at least I know one great restaurant in Boston. I had completely different plates (except the dates, which were too delicious deny myself). When I came back after a week in Maine in my few additional days here, went there one more time, again having nearly completely different dishes (accept the dates.) Tuna, shrimp, whitefish, salted god balls, potatoes. They were all great, and hot out of the kitchen. They also have a wonderful selection of spanish and basque wines, and the bartender makes a mean martini.
Absolutely wonderful - the food was delicious and the ambience was nice and cozy with a warm personality, like a true taberna that the Spanish locals go to every night. We lucked out with a counter seating in front of the kitchen, getting to watch the food come out fresh and made to order with love, plus when a jamón leg is sitting in front of you, what more could you ask for? The Isastegui sidra was bright and fresh as we remembered it, though the cocktails and wine also seem to be huge hits at tables around us. The pan con tomate was nice and fresh (our favorite tapas staple to test out restaurants); the biénmesabe was a delicate, fried bundle of white fish joy; habas con tocino were a delight with fresh faba beans and nice bits of salt from the back and brightness from the mint. We wish the setas (oyster mushrooms with a sunny duck egg) were a tad less salty, but the dish works overall. Great atmosphere (a tad loud for those of us losing our hearing) with nice variation in seating, and the staff were absolutely caring and attentive. We love Spanish food, so it means a lot to be able to find what we think is the best tapas restaurant that goes beyond patatas bravas and albóndigas! We'll be back soon!
Taberna de Haro is definitely one of those places that’s very unassuming from the outside but inviting. Finally paid a visit after walking by almost everyday during the summer and fall. I loved their patatas bravas and their choice of wines. It’s a great place for Tapas, small plates that are best shared. Was impressed enough to be certain that I’ll go back again soon.
We got the squid ink paella, gambas, n chorizitos- all were excellent. Would HIGHLY recommend drizzling the garlic sauce from the gambas into the paella it was MINDBLOWINGLY GOOD!!! Staff were attentive and friendly. The seats are quite close to each other and that makes the space a bit noisy too, but the food was worth it.
If you’re looking for an authentic Spanish dining experience in Brookline, Taberna de Haro is a must-visit. The food is simply outstanding—every dish we tried was bursting with rich, vibrant flavors that transported us straight to Spain. From the perfectly cooked tapas to the carefully selected wines, each bite and sip was a delight. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed for a perfect evening. But what really made our night special was Walter, the bartender. He has an incredible knack for crafting cocktails and made us feel like valued guests from the moment we sat at the bar. His recommendations were spot-on and his warm, welcoming attitude added a personal touch that enhanced the experience even more. Whether you’re looking to indulge in classic Spanish dishes or explore new flavors, Taberna de Haro delivers on every front.
Came in with a reservation around 6pm which is kinda early for dinner but it wasn’t too crowded yet. The staff was very attentive and great at giving me a wine recommendation (cono 4). Croquetas were solid (they upsell you to get 4 instead of 3 but I’m not complaining). Goat cheese toasts were good too and worth it to share with more than 2 people because of how dense they are. Onto the shrimp, the oil they were in was phenomenal. Loved to dip the bread in there. Mushrooms were extremely yummy as well, and the classic spanish egg topping is always a nice touch. I look forward to coming back sometime to try more of their menu.
The food is beyond delicious. Reasonable prices, beautiful casual atmosphere as if you're sitting in a tavern in Spain. Absolutely scrumptious imported wines and cider - warm and welcoming staff, music at the right volume... The eggplant tapas MELTS in your mouth. I can't wait to return to this lovely wonderful restaurant. Excellent job!
Excellent time at Taberna de Haro! We were seated by the window in the corner, which was lovely for atmosphere. I did find it to be a tad bit chilly, with a draft from the windows. We were waited on by Addy, who was training, and Korro (sorry if I butchered the name). Although Addy was being trained, she was a supertrooper! Debra, the owner, is welcoming. We had a great time talking to her. My favorite dish of the night had to be either the paella or the shrimp, especially the spicy garlic oil. The calamari was so soft and the breading was great. We really wished we could have given a tip to Addy. She worked her butt off, but she couldn’t take any tips since she’s still in training. We’ll definitely come back to see Addy and eat more great food!
Incredible restaurant! The milieu and ambiance is absolutely lovely and everything at this restaurant is clearly curated with extreme thoughtfulness and excellence. The food was great, wine list is exceptional (best Spanish wine list I’ve ever seen), and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. If you’re thinking of going to Barcelona, turn around and head to Tabero De Haro for authentic and exceptional food, service, and wine! 5-Stars!
Fabulous tapas. We had the asparagus, the mushrooms, the lamb rack, the spicy garlic shrimp, the clams with chorizo, and the natillas (pudding). We enjoyed the food except for the lamb which was tough to chew. The asparagus and the shrimp were my favorites. The complimentary bread was used to draw the sauce from thr garlic and the clams. Our table outside was on a slope so the drink glasses slid downwards. o
Food was great! It was not loud so I did not need to raise my vocie to talk. So the ambience was great. I was a bit disappointed with the cancellation rule. I do understand that no-shows and last-minute cancellations are detrimental to small businesses. However, I canceled my reservation within about 10 minutes of making it, yet I was charged a $20 per person penalty. Yes, I did not read the fine print, and I will pay the fee. That said, I would like them to consider offering a short grace period for same-day cancellations.
Our first time here since new owners took over the restaurant. The menu looked the same as before. We were curious if the flavors would be similar and, pleasantly, found them to be almost the same. The fried calamari was a little over fried and served with mayo instead of a marinara sauce, but the portion was larger. We enjoyed the jamon croquetas and potato tortilla, which looked and tasted the same as before. The sauté spinach was delicious. Service was efficient. Looking forward to coming back to try other dishes.
A friend was in town and suggested we eat Spanish food. I had just visited Spain last month so I was eager to compare. We started with an order of ham croquetas and batatas bravas. Both were very good, though I had better in Spain. We shared a seafood paella and it was outstanding, equal to any I've tried over there. Truly mouth watering, with loads of seafood. Our server was super friendly. I know that some restaurants like to dim the lights for atmosphere, but it was too dark. I recommend this restaurant, but if you come, bring a flashlight.
Ambience was really nice for a date night. Decoration and music are amazing, but it gets loud on a Friday night understandably. We ordered 4 tapas and 2 were amazing, 2 were mediocre. I was really disappointed in the artichokes and clams, but the beef tongue special really made up for it. I would recommend this place for a date night, but there are many other better tasting tapas places in the area in my opinion.
I haven’t been in this place since more than 4 years after a tragic experience with Service. The food has been pretty consistent in quality since then and this time I found similar quality level. For the cost you pay the food quality is the top as you can expect. The food is good but it is not excellent and overpriced. Finally I found a good Serivce ( I was at the bar, maybe not the right seat to judge, but it was good and friendly). The food, as I already said, is good with a good presentation but with lower quantities compared to my expectations. The Jamon was not the right quality, the pan with tomatoes was small and overpriced ( it is bread with tomatos… it is free in Spain!!) the paella was good but not exceptional (please remove the mayo on the top…. This killed the paella). I am not sure if I’m going back….maybe in 4 years.
We had a good time, the food and drinks were authentic and prepared well and the service was decent overall until the end, when the server rushed us out with the check and a box — we would’ve ordered another drink and dessert but were not asked or given the option. Pretty weird and we both hadn’t experienced something like that before. We had been there for about an hour at that point and had ordered multiple rounds of food throughout so I didn’t feel like we had overstayed our table or were taking up a table and not spending money. Disappointing and abrupt end to a fun night for sure.
