In visiting New York and dining at MoCa added to a pleasant trip. As we entered we were greeted with smiles and seated right away. Service was superb food was presented in a way that added to your excitement about dining. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an intimate Asian dining experience.
Excellent dining experience which came highly recommended by a family member. The decor is striking accompanied by soft electric sauna type music. Staff ushers you into the fine dining experience with professionalism. The food Delights the palette …Highly Recommended !
Again, sorry for the lack of photos but the food was fantastic the service borderlined annoying with the multiple waitresses coming over to ask if everything was all right. However, the service was great the food was great was nice. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi Friday's style.
The restaurant is nice and clean. The food came out hot and sizzling. It taste fabulous. The service was phenomenal. Thank you Jeanette for excellent service. We will be back very soon.
Hands down...always fresh. Never disappoints!!
Amazing place, must go. When you walk in through the front door you are greeted by a nice lady that promptly takes you to your seat. When you take a look around, the look of this place is a mixture of modern, and elegance. The staff are very inviting and pays close attention to your every need. You can tell the staff works collectively as a team. The food is amazing with every dish very well made and every bite bursting with flavor. Perfect date night or just out with your friends. The remodel of this place has deff made this place my to go place for a night out.
With this restaurant being part of a strip mall, parking was very easy. We were seated immediately. The ambiance was comfortable. Family friendly. The service was excellent. The food was served hot and delivered to the table in a timely manner. We did not feel rushed to get through the meal. The food was delicious and relatively affordable. The salmon teriyaki was delicious!!! I will definitely return.
We came here for a very rare parents' night out. The ambiance is gorgeous. Very cool without trying too hard, just the right amount of dimness to the lighting and it was very, very clean. The food was excellent. We had a sushi roll that was super fresh and tasty, the veggie pad thai was delicious and didn't taste like noodles with peanut butter as it so often unfortunately can. The Mongolian beef skillet was a sizzling joy of beefy, veggie, saucy goodness. And the MoCatini was awesome! Can't wait to come back soon!
Went there for the first time this year. Been back about 5 times since. Love the rolls. The bass is also good. And love their crispy chicken. Can't remember the exact name right now. Service is good. Atmosphere at the restaurant is also good. Prices are mid range I suppose. Not too expensive, but not cheap. But I'd say worth it so far. Looking forward to the next visit.
The best place in the area I’ve been to fill my palette and that is wallet friendly. The food is very delicious. We had the Malaysian chicken fried rice, short ribs (beef) and cream veggie seafood. I am surprised we finished all the food. And made the same order to go!!! I would recommend this place to any food lover!!!
Dinner this evening was great, service was quick and the staff were friendly. Enjoyed the Mongolian lobster 🦞 and it was superb!! prepare to get your hand dirty as it is finger licking good. The drinks were strong enough that I only needed one. Great spot for a dimmed light evening with friends or loved ones.
Customer service was exceptional . The staff were very polite and welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant. I give them a 5 stars rating. The food was delicious. It was an Amazing choice for a birthday dinner. We had a blast. Thank you so much for a great night.
The food was good, very tasteful. The server was excellent. The cocktail was a little too strong.
Delicious food. Artistic ambiance. Chilean sea bass was excellent.
All I can say is I enjoyed my time!! It was definitely worth it . The food is fresh & so so ssoooooo good ; I really like the portions as well . 10 out of 10 . It was nice & quiet (there’s music of course) but it was a nice atmosphere . The staff were respectful . I’ll definitely be going back!!
Delicious food and amazing service. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended.
This place in incredible. Asian fusion to the 10th degree. The food, the place, the people, great vibes. Again the food, oi vey, delicioso, ay caramba mucho sabor, karasho!
Amazing sushi. Me and my family come here at least once every month. We love the staff they are always so helpful. The food is amazing. We love the king lobster sushi and I love the miso soup. We had the Oreo cookie desert and it comes with ice cream yummy. MOCA is the best we enjoy coming here.
There was a great cozy asian decor and atmosphere with an excellent happy hour appetizer menu and speciality bar drinks. The Paradise Roll with spicey mango sauce and lychee martini were a hit. Our party of 4 sat at the bar. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Hats off to bartenders Patrick and Yoyo. Easy access from the highway and plenty of parking, restroom clean. We will certainly return.
Good spot for a quick lunch. Stopped in after it was recommended and will be coming back again. We ordered the Bento boxes to see how good of a deal it is. And I will say you get a good amount without it being too much, especially with the sushi box. Never a good idea for left overs with sushi. We had a quick 15mins to wait for an order we put in when we got there. Front staff was pleasent and efficient.
A group of 5 of us came here for a birthday lunch and everything was absolutely perfect. The restaurant is immaculate the food was presented beautifully and I know this sounds silly but the bathrooms are also very nice. There is plenty of parking.I highly recommend this restaurant can't wait to go back. Get the bento box!
Food came out at a decent speed and was steaming hot. The staff are friendly and multiple staff members came by to check on us or clear stuff off the table. They also pack your take home food for you. Feels and looks like a high class restaurant, Very professional 😁
I give everything 5 stars except the service. The food is absolutely delicious, however, I am not sure if it's just me but the servers are never usually pleasant. Also, the food is pricey comparing to the serving sizes. I usually don't eat alot however, I never leave there feeling full or half full. They can do better with the portion sizes and the waiters need to be more pleasant. It always seem like a bother if you are asking for the smallest request.
I recently visited Moca had a great experience there. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They always checking in to make sure we were enjoying our meal without being intrusive. The food was nothing short of amazing!
The spot hits the spot, grade A+ Asian bistro. The food is delightful. Service was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. The aura of the place is a perfect date spot the fancy drinks also really good. Jamie was perfect with her service. She was amazing and She was extremely fast. Really recommend this to anyone who’s in the area
Always a great spot. The food is consistently delicious—especially the beef skewers and Mongolian beef. I've tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. Reliable, tasty, and worth coming back to every time. Nice memories with my girlfriend here, and always come back to make more.
Not my first time dining here . Ambiance was great. The Decor impressive the food great. I had Malasian fried rice with roast duck. Portion size was very good and the meal satisfying. The staff was professional and they served in good time. We did not have to wait to be seated. Very pleasant evening all around.
This restaurant has tasty meals, curious and attentive service and an amazing drink. The decor is modern, Asian themed and clean. They even went the extra mile to decorate for Valentines. I will definitely return and tell family and friends about it. P S. Hassle free parking is right out front.
Monday night meet up with a friend at Moca is easy. The restaurant is fairly empty so if you want quiet, it’s definitely that. The dining area is large and the bar is grand. Plenty of TVs to watch sports and a wide selection of libations. The sushi chefs are ready to prepare your faves! The menu is long so you should be able to find something to please each party. The shrimp shumai was cool and the shrimp asparagus roll did the trick. I got 6 pieces for the cooked roll. This is one of many locations. Pop in! Chopsticks are optional lol
This place is still good despite the pandemic cause dining in isn't a problem vaccinated or not. I think prices gone up just a bit but thats to be expected so no biggie there. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, cause the food is still good regardless, is that I paid more than I feel I should have. I saw the bill and my drinks were rounded off the the higher number. Example: my drinks were 8 dollars and some change but they charged me $9 on the bill. I couldn't remember the exact prices on the food but who's to say it didn't happen on that as well. All in all we had a good night out there.
I ordered take out for later pick up for two people. It was ready when I went to get it, no wait. While the food is of good quality, the portions are small. The grilled chicken salad was $15 and not entree size. A very small portion for the price. Not sure if take out sizes are smaller than dine in but this was very disappointing for the price. Three meals totaled were $60+. They are expensive.
The food here was really good and fresh! They have a very large menu, so it was hard to choose because everything sounded so good. I ended up going with the Bento Box, which was like a 5-course meal. The rock shrimp tempura appetizer was my fav. The only thing is the servers stalk you to see when you're done eating, which was annoying. I will go again, though.
So the food is a little pricey here, however its very good, they do have lunch specials and bento boxes which allows you to get a few different things to try. The service when dinning in is very good, but the person who did the take out and pick up order is not very pleasant, and appeared to be impatient and a little aggressive like she just wanted you to hurry up and order and not ask any questions. That cost them 1 star. However because of the food i would return again.
The main dish I had was delicious. I had vegetable fried rice , shrimp with Broccoli and asparagus. My husband had the Shrimp fried rice and my daughter had Malaysia rice ( not good at all). The appetizers were okay, the gyozas were not good, on the other hand we enjoyed the spring rolls and eal and avocado rolls. Another detail I didn't like, was the fact that my son dropped something on the floor and when we went to pick it up we found garbage under the table. The service was great but I think those little aspects of the restaurant need improvement. My family and I will definitely be back we love the food.
Good food, service and ambiance!
Lunch was delicious, shrimp tempura w/veggies was yummy!! We got an order for take out which also turned out very tasty fish soup!! I forgot to take pics. Nice atmosphere. Excellent food.
The place is nice. Located in a strip mall. Have been there before. Portions are average. Food is very tasty and seasoned well. Mixed drinks were okay. Pleasant dining experience.
The service was okay, but the experience was a bit rushed. The food was good, but my last visit left me feeling a little uncomfortable. I was asked to pay because my server had to leave, even though there were still people walking in at the time. It was a bit strange and made the whole experience feel hurried. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking, which is always a convenience. I still enjoy the food, but I hope the service improves in the future.
I made reservations online and arrived for dinner. Initially, we were seated near the bar, but we requested a quieter spot, and the hostess kindly accommodated us by moving us to a table by the window. When the waiter came, we placed our drink, appetizer, and entrée orders. My daughter and I originally wanted the bento box, but we were informed it was only available during lunch hours, so we had to browse the menu again and choose different items. We ended up ordering the Pad Thai, salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, and sushi. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The drinks were also great—though my Long Island Iced Tea was a bit stronger than I had requested, it wasn’t a big issue. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and the chocolate soufflé. The tiramisu was not overly sweet, which I appreciated, and the chocolate soufflé was a big hit with my kids—it disappeared in under a minute! Although there was a bit of a wait for the food, it was definitely worth it. The waiter checked in with us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed.
There was a little attitude in the atmosphere, I wont go there again
Nice place and staff. Food taste was good. Food prep wasn't to my liking. Also some dishes had traditional names but wasn't made accordingly.
The atmosphere is really beautiful and very soothing. Perfect for date night. The prices are very high for the quality of their sushi. I have been to other places that is less expensive and food quality is higher. Unfortunately it did not make it to my top ten favorite restaurants of all time.
Today was my first time coming to this establishment. I wanted to order triple delight sushi plater as displayed on menu photo. Waiter. Informed me that those pictures that are on a menu are all fake and I will not be getting what is on a picture . I decided to order picking duck. Trust me that was not a picking duck. It was old roasted duck and had no taste. Overall this restaurant food quantity is good, however you need to ask before you order.
Ordered take out. Fair amount of food for the price. Dumplings could be tastier. Shrimp fried rice had a great portion of shrimp. Lollipop chicken came out as wings? Not sure what happened here but the restaurant says that’s their version. (Photo attached)
I went to Moca on Hewlett on Christmas Day, and what started as a nice dinner quickly turned into a horrible experience. While we were sitting at the table, a roach crawled toward us. I had to cover it with a napkin and kill it myself. When I told the waitress, the only thing the restaurant did was offer a 20% discount and a slice of cake. That response was completely inadequate given the seriousness of the situation. I was extremely disappointed and uncomfortable, and I will never go there again. I strongly advise others not to eat here.
This location is a wonderful place, nice decor. Downside about this location that made me give 2 stars, are the servers. I came to dine in, had a wonderful time, when I received the bill I gave a 15% tip. The server came back to me and asked why I only gave a 15% tip and asked me to tip more because everyone there splits the tip. The waiter, the bus boy, the people in the back. I didn’t like that interaction from that day. So now I just order my food to go. Hopefully since then, they have stop harassing customers for bigger tips.
I would give it 5, but they have a lot of work to do. They price point and portion does not match. If you order a meal, you only get your meal, no salad, soup, not even water, and portions are really small. There are plenty of other Asian restaurants in the area that will give you your money's worth, sorry. The fountain soda tastes weird, too, it was not Sprite. 3 people, three meals, and three sodas $120. Oh and the online menu prices were not the same as the restaurant menu prices. In person, the prices were 3-4 dollars higher.
This place always give such a bizarre experience. I went here for Valentine's Day 2024 with my girlfriend and made a reservation through OpenTable. It took a while for them locate my reservation to the point where I had to make sure I booked the correct location. It turns out a reservation wasn't needed as they were not busy. The entire dinner we felt as we were being rushed as at one point multiple people kept asking if we needed anything else at intervals only a few minutes apart. We did order appetizers and entrees and felt we took less than normal amount of time to eat everything. I went back last night with my girlfriend. Upon entering we were greeted by someone on their phone who asked "Hello, how can I help you" without looking up. We responded "Hi, for two please". Same person now looks up and in a slightly angry tone asks if she can help us again. We requested the the same and she grabbed a few menus, practically ran to the table, placed the menu back down and then proceeded to run back to the entrance. We made it roughly half way to the table before she passed us on her way back. It felt that we had to find out table rather than the typical expectation of being escorted to a table. When our food was brought out, we were told what the dish was, and I said it was for her and gestured to the other end of the table and that dish was placed in front of me, where my dish was placed by my girlfriend. I had requested sparkling water and was expecting something like bottled sparkling, but the water I was given tasted like the water that comes out of a soda fountain. The water was Pellegrino priced. When someone came over to refill water, they almost added still to my sparkling. When it came time to clear the table, the person dropped cutlery on the floor and it bounced up to my pant leg - staining it. On the plus side, the sushi and food was good.
I've been to other moca restaurants in queens but this one in Long Island is the worst. The service is awful waitress was simply boring and not happy doing what she's supposed to do the food it's ok but for chicken teriyaki here I'd rather go to sarku Japan in the mall, small portions and very expensive behind our table a loud couple playing loud videos on cellphone and restaurant staff didn't even care to do anything.
What a rip off! Sushi anywhere else for lunch special will cost you $12 for 3 rolls. This place I had never been to before so decided to give it a try although knowing the price was $22 for 3 rolls I assumed that maybe the rolls would be larger or better quality. Boy was I WRONG! The sushi here is just regular sushi like other normal places and is way overpriced. Not to mention after I ate here I went back to write this review and read other reviews and saw one that literally had a cockroach in the photo… how nasty! I would’ve thrown up my food if it wasn’t so expensive. I wouldn’t come here again
The atmosphere and the food was spectacular as always. The food is sort of pricy but the food is worth it, the portions are big. The place is clean and the front of house staff feels welcoming. The food is always good, but all of our drinks didn't taste good. The drinks costs $18 and it’s all ice. There’s always parking so it’s convenient
Very rude hostess, When we got there no one was waiting for a table. The hostess said it will take a few minutes for a table for 5. We waited 25 minutes Then she gave our table to a larger group that came 15 min after us and still yelled at us. For a family oriented establishment we were treated rudely and unfairly especially in front of the children. Avoid this restaurant there’s others that will accommodate and present a more enjoyable experience not stressful one.
Food was “okay” and that’s me being nice considering the fact that most of what I ordered was flavorless and overpriced. I ordered 2 bento box’s and 2 sushi rolls. Total was $70. They charged an extra $2 for a wonton soup and when it arrived, the soup contained 2 lonely wontons the size of a marble. Server was super ungrateful for the tip that was given and stated that I had to give her more. I would not recommend this place if you wish to avoid feeling uncomfortable.
If I could give this place a zero star rating I absolutely would. The first time I came here, it was amazing.. the food was fresh and the service was great.. until today. I recommended this place to my family for our dinner this evening. We first ordered the salmon tartar amongst other appetizers and sushi rolls. When the food came out the waiter spilled the drinks all over us! Not only that, We had to return everything that had salmon in it because the salmon tasted like it had been laundered. It literally tasted like a fishy Clorox combination. We had them replace all of the food containing salmon with tuna instead. We then ordered our main courses and there were cockroaches INSIDE my sisters beef! One of them was running on the table... when we called the waiter over he blamed it on the wood (they brought the beef on a slab of wood) but how could that be? The bugs were inside the meal as well as on the table! To add insult to injury they only gave us 10% off of our meal... if I were the manager I wouldn’t have even charged for the meal! I am never coming back here again!
My family and I went to this restaurant and were completely ignored. We sat for at least 15 minutes and the restaurant was completely empty. The wait staff were standing around looking at us. They only asks when we were getting up to exit. I will never return nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. Your staff needs to be better trained .
I never leave reviewed, but was disappointed by the way was treated last night. Just imagine waitress demanding to add more tips on the bill because she has to share with someone in the kitchen. Mind that 85% of items on the bills was alcohol and its not like they worked hard to make it in the kitchen. Will never come back to this place.
Last Sunday, the security guard (or maybe he’s an assistant “something-or-other”), had the staff (two females: one Asian one Latina) at the front who take “To Go” orders so distracted with his flirting (‘the thirst is real’), that to get help felt like an intrusion ??? Really he needs to go, or he needs to find a desk, or do his job, or at the very least (when customers are present) let the staff do their job! Then to top it off, I spent upwards of $70.00 on a take out order from you guys, and the staff (the Asian girl) seemed too bothered (or engrossed with the guard) to get me soy sauce and duck sauce, and then he has the gall to tell me larger containers of sauces would be an extra $1.00, as if I couldn’t afford a $1; and I just spent $70. REALLY?! I just spent $70 for $40 worth of food, and now you are too busy to get me sauces, and want what now??!! GET A GRIP As for the food it was average at best. Absolutely not worth the price. Will not be back!
I was part of a party of 4 on Mother's Day. Food was good, but was unaware of a 20% added tip for large party and the amount of people that constitutes such party. This should have been communicated to me when the reservation was made. I was shocked and upset when I discovered this mandatory charge on my bill.
Everything started off great. We ordered appetizers and for the main course got the wrong thing. My finance is allergic to peppers and the dish had peppers so we asked to bring the correct dish. The manager came over and told us we still have to pay for the dish that came out and the correct dish. (Keep in mind they took the dish back since he is allergic to it). Got into a nasty argument with the manager.
Went here for dinner with my family and from the moment we were seated the server came over and asked if we were ready to order. Asked her to give use few mins less than one minute goes by and she came back asking if we are ready. This continued throughout the night and just made our dinning experience felt rushed. Based off this experience we decided to give lower than “suggested” 20% tip. Serve came back with receipt and demanded that we have to tip the “suggested” amount on there receipt. Definitely won’t be coming back here!!
Used to the Forest hills location- came here to charge my car- overall server friendly but service was disorganized and waiters where struggling to keep up with the tables food is brought out with no consideration of table orders - my husband got his order and I had to wait at least 30 mins or more for udon noodles?- overall don't recommend this location best to stick to other location
The food was tasteless. The drinks water down. We didn't finish eating and the waitress come to take the plates - she picked it up and then ask arenyou finish. That moment I was like take it you done touch. We just paid and leave. Expected dinning time is 1.5 hrs for 2 people we barely spent 45mins.
Although I order from moca often, lately they have not been consistent with their quality of food. When you order for delivery it takes about an hour and a half to arrive, food tastes spoiled specifically the sushi rolls. It is almost as if they intentionally give rotten sushi to people who order for delivery. I am just very disappointed in how the restaurant has been going downhill and not doing anything about it.
Stopped coming here a few years ago after being chased outside the restaurant for giving too little of a tip but had no choice amid the Coronavirus pandemic as this was one of the only places open. Another bad experience. After getting home I realized they forgot my salad with the special. Called and came back to pick it up and they said it’ll be a half hour so I requested delivery if they can and they said sure. Hours later they never arrived and I called back to ask what’s going on and they suggested reimbursing me next time I order and I said that probably won’t happen so can I pickup now and they said only soup and must be picked up, I explained that I bought the special because it comes with a salad and they tried to convince me that because it’s ‘free’ I’m not entitled to it. Not sure how this place is still in business with how bad customer service has been for years Came back here a third time because I was invited by a family member for a celebration. They charged my family for my 7 month old nephew who didn’t eat or get serviced in any way. I believe this was to meet the party of 6 quota for automatic 25% gratuity. Just wow.
My general tao chicken was very dry and not good at all . I ordered take out and called the restaurant to tell them about it but the MANGER DEENA was extremely rude to me she started yelling about the complaint and hung up the phone on me . I couldn’t believe the level of poor customer service I called back again only to have her hang up again. I am so disappointed this use to be one of my favorite locations to eat from . Customer service and quality of food has gone down the drain .
Ordered food few months back and found HAIR tangled in the NOODLES ( YUCK!! )... called the restaurant explained what happened and was told she couldn't refund me the dinner , that i would get a credit . Who wants to eat in a place that doesn't have proper hair netting on the cooks.
We’ve been to Moca Bistro in Hewlett many times—mainly for the convenient location—but the service has always been just okay at best. Our most recent visit on a Sunday was particularly disappointing. There was no bartender on duty, yet people were gathered at the bar waiting a long time for service. When someone finally acknowledged us, they seemed annoyed and rushed, like they didn’t want to be bothered. We waited nearly 30 minutes just to ask for the check, only to be handed the wrong one. It wasn’t until then that anyone actually made an effort to help. The only consistently great service we’ve experienced here is from the bartender who works Thursdays and Fridays—everyone else is just going through the motions. Moca really needs to step up its customer service.
I have dined at Moca before in Forest Hills and have never had an issue. I placed an order today through Uber eats with Moca in Hewlett and paid a bill of $229.47. I was completely shocked when I received my order. The quantity and quality of the food was absolutely ridiculous. One of the items I ordered was a lobster salad and I will attach a picture as an example of what I received, I was charged $41 for this item alone. I contacted the restaurant about the situation and the so called manager said we should deal with Uber eats not them. Not the answer I expected considering the restaurant makes the food not Uber eats. I would not recommend spending your money at this restaurant if you expect a quality meal.
