⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent experience at Cafe Dacha! The place is very clean, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly, professional, and clearly well-trained. The food was delicious — I tried the harcho soup and a beer, both warm, flavorful, and perfectly priced. The menu feels carefully chosen, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality. One small suggestion: when pickup drivers come for take-out orders, it might be better to have a separate area for them so they don’t have to stand next to guests dining in. Other than that, everything was fantastic. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere.
Had my birthday party at Cafe Dacha and everything was great! The Owner-Manager is the kindest person, so patience, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. Same goes to his staff. My guests complimented this service, food and drinks - and fully enjoyed themselves. Thank you for a great party! We will be back ;)
Amazing family owned business. Wonderful fresh and well prepared memorable food. Appreciated hearing about uniquely Ukrainian takes on herring, borscht, and perogis. Enjoyed the Croatian beer too!
This place is awesome. There aren’t many upscale Eastern European restaurants so this place is pretty unique. The Borscht is delicious and the Beet Salad is really unique with awesome flavors. Their desserts are a must try especially the Honey Cake.
Café Dacha in Highland Park offers an authentic and memorable Eastern European dining experience with excellent food, attentive service, and a relaxed atmosphere. The zakuski (IYKYK) selection was a great way to begin the meal. The beef tongue was tender and flavorful, the blintzes were light and well-prepared, and each dish was presented thoughtfully. The Vinigret salad was also a standout, with a balanced mix of earthy vegetables and bright acidity. The lamb kebab was perfectly cooked and seasoned, served with sides that enhanced the main dish without overpowering it. The honey cake for dessert was outstanding. Light, layered, and just sweet enough, it was a perfect way to end the meal. Café Dacha also has a nice selection of wines that pair well with the menu, and the service throughout the evening was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. Outdoor seating was available, and the patio was quiet and comfortable that evening, adding to the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something unique and well-executed in Highland Park.
Hope you had a wonderful dinner at dacha. The service was very attentive, delicious Ukrainian food. Our server suggested and helped us order dishes that were easily shareable, so we got to try a lot of different things. Will be back.
Excellent food and service in a cozy place. We've been there a handy of times with friends and always pleased and ready to go back.
Food: Absolutely incredible. I can’t believe we didn’t find this place until recently. We ordered their garlic potatoes - huge helping but they were addictive so thank goodness there were a lot. Lamb meatballs (they are gamey, just how I like them) are a must have with their super light mashed potatoes. The chicken kebabs were extremely juicy! Finally, make sure you save room for their napoleon cake, which will be the best you have in the states. Completely blew us away! Service: Very friendly, made sure we had what we needed, and came at the right cadence. Also brought water out for my dog with prompting - so thoughtful! Atmosphere: On a street corner in Highland Park downtown, and we sat outside on their super cute gazebo / patio! Loved the cozy ambience. We never went inside, but with just a peek, it looks very cute too!
A wonderful cafe in a resort town. The cafe has a small menu, but it consists of classic European dishes and everything is really tasty. The bar pleases with delicious cocktails. In warm weather, I recommend the summer terrace.
Checked out this place for the first time today. Can't believe how incredible the food is and the quality of service as well. The drinks are incredible, especially the cherry infused vodka martini, And the patio is super hip and very comfortable. Free parking all around the area. We ordered the calamari, potatoes, salad, beef stroganoff, and the coleslaw. Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted delicious!
Amazing! The food and desert were fresh and delicious, cozy atmosphere, great service! Truly recommend, such a great place!
This restaurant is FABULOUS! The flavors are perfect, not overdone. The atmosphere, comfortable and it has a light feeling. I highly recommend it.
The best place to have very tasty homemade food, especially I like Chicken tapaka and lamb kebab. Very good vodka infusions, don’t feel alcohol and also homemade. Waiters are very friendly. Definitely will come again!
Enjoyed our meal on their patio on a beautiful night. We had chicken pelmeni (dumplings), lamb kabobs, and chicken kabobs. Everything was tasty. We appreciated the generous portions of meat and friendly service.
I had an amazing experience at Cafe Dacha! The stuffed cabbage rolls were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Beef Stroganoff was equally impressive, with tender meat and a rich, creamy sauce. Everything was so fresh and beautifully prepared. Thank you for such a wonderful meal—I’ll definitely be coming back!
The most Amazing place to eat! Super delicious Ukrainian food ; the atmosphere os very pleasing ! Will def be back and recommend you come try it for yourself !
Really great and delicious Ukrainian cousins - holubtsi, varenyky, borscht and other. Also they have Ukrainian beer and cocktails. The personnel is very helpful and friendly. There’s a great patio for a summer party, we have enjoyed celebrating Independence Day of Ukraine 🇺🇦 there! Also, they speak Ukrainian. Definitely recommended!
My wife found this gem when out on a trip with our daughter to Highland Park. Great to find a Ukrainian restaurant not too far from home! The food and service was great, the vareniki (Ukrainian for pirogis) were awesome, as was the rest of the meal, and the vodka! Never had the potato, beet, and bean/pea salad before.
The food and the vibe is incredible. I highly recommend getting the cabbage leaves, the chopped liver, the herring fish, and the signature soups
Dacha provided a cozy atmosphere that enhanced the dining experience. The food, including the Napoleon, was delicious. The servers were attentive and caring, adding a warm touch to the overall experience.
Very tasty charcho soup, amazing Napoleon, great vinegret. Vareniky, pelmeni and pate just good. Blinets with meat recommended. P.s. The waitress forgot wright down "beef tongue".
Cozy place with good service and delicious food ♥️✨
Menu is perfect. Just a handful of items, but each is made so deliciously. I really enjoyed this place. Great service!
The food and drinks were phenomenal, server was very polite and great. Highly recommend.
Loved it! Great atmosphere, European style and good music coming along with authentic cuisine and exceptional service, 5 out 5 solid!
Today I tried the best sandwich in Highland Park 🔥 on homemade sourdough bread by Twisted Oak. I had a bagel sandwich with lox.🤤 It's 100/10, I highly recommend it.
Very tasty food ! Varenyky with cherries just amazing, my husband really liked the tobacco chicken and kharcho soup.
We had a wonderful experience at Dacha. The food was delicious, and our server Natiia was fantastic—friendly and attentive. Highly recommended! ❤️
Absolutely amazing place! The hot Borscht was out of this world as well as the beef stroganoff! 12/10 would recommend. You can tell it was made with ❤️🥰😍 Then the Napoleon was 😋🤤. Can’t wait to go back🇺🇦 Rika treated us like royalty 🤴 💘🥩🍰
Absolutely delicious place! Highly recommended!
It's very tasty here! I especially recommend this place for beer lovers
We have been coming to this place for years. Always knowing what to expect: consistently great food and service. If you like or want to try Eastern European food this is the place to go. We so lucky to have this place in the neighborhood.
A True Taste of Home at Cafe Dacha Cafe Dacha is a wonderful haven for Eastern Europeans craving the taste of home. Every dish we ordered was clearly prepared with love and care. We started with unique drinks—my husband tried a new Ukrainian beer and was not disappointed, while I enjoyed a vodka soda with a delightful cherry twist. The borsch was full of rich, authentic flavor. We also had a long-standing craving for fried potatoes, which weren’t on the menu, but the staff happily prepared them for us—an unexpected and much-appreciated gesture. The lamb kebab was incredibly tender, melting in the mouth with each bite. For dessert, I had planned to save part of my Napoleon cake for later, but we couldn’t resist and ended up finishing it on the spot. It was perfectly crusty rather than moist—exactly how I love it and rarely find it prepared. The service was both quick and exceptionally friendly. Even though the restaurant was full, it remained peaceful and gave us the perfect setting to talk and celebrate our wedding anniversary. Definitely recommended—we’ll be back for more!
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday for 9 guests. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests. The party was a success because of them. Highly recommend this place for authentic east European food and great services.
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere and amazing food!
This place is INCREDIBLE! You do not have to like international food to enjoy this cuisine. The chef is clearly talented and everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. Hands down.. and I do not say this lightly: this is the Best / authentic tasting, quality restaurant in the North Shore. The atmosphere in the evening is romantic and the service impeccable. It’s our second time here and definitely not the last! We highly recommend the Golubtsi (stuffed cabbage in tomato sauce), lamb kebab, the beets/veggie soup, and beef stroganoff yummmn
The food was excellent quality, everything was fresh and delicious. The service was fantastic and attentive. The cocktails were very good and well mixed. The only downside is they were out of a handful of items on their rather small menu and we had to change our order twice.
From the moment you step into a Dacha restaurant , you’re enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. This Ukrainian gem in the heart of Chicago offers an unforgettable dining experience that beautifully combines rich tradition with modern culinary excellence. The menu is a delightful journey through authentic Ukrainian cuisine, featuring a variety of dishes that are both hearty and flavorful. The borscht, with its vibrant color and perfect balance of sweet and sour, is a testament to the kitchen’s mastery. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate, always ready to recommend the perfect pairing or share the stories behind the dishes. Service at Dacha is impeccable. The staff exude genuine warmth and hospitality, making every guest feel like family. They go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience, whether it’s a cozy dinner for two or a larger celebration. The ambiance is equally charming, with traditional decor that adds to the authenticity without feeling kitschy. It’s a perfect setting for a romantic evening, a family dinner, or a casual night out with friends. In a city with a rich culinary landscape, Dacha stands out as a beacon of Ukrainian culture and cuisine. It’s a place where food is not just a meal, but a celebration of heritage and community. Whether you’re a long-time lover of Ukrainian food or new to this delicious cuisine, Dacha is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
We absolutely thought everything was delicious!!!! We had the fish cakes, vinegret salad, chicken kabobs and cheese blintz’s with cherry sauce. We tried a debit of horseradish vodka-amazing..and a finely crafted Negroni. Perfect! Outdoor dining is comfortable and charming. Our server was wonderful too! Don’t hesitate this is real food, done to perfection. My only regret is that I don’t live close enough to make it a regular.
This is one of the best cafés I’ve ever visited. The Ukrainian food is authentic, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and peaceful, and the service is outstanding. You can truly feel the heart and soul put into this place. It’s not just a café — it’s an experience. Five stars without any doubt! Highly recommended to everyone.
We had a wonderful family dinner at Cafe Dacha on Valentine’s Day. The meals were fantastic, the desserts were absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere with the music made the evening feel extra special. Owner Sasha was more than amazing and made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend!
Cafe Dacha – Review Cafe Dacha is a cozy spot known for its Russian and Eastern European-inspired menu with a modern twist. Food: Offers a variety of flavorful dishes like pierogis, borscht, blinis, and hearty meat options. Fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors make it a tasty experience. Ambiance: Warm, inviting, with a relaxed vibe—great for casual dining or a quiet meal. Service: Friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Overall: A unique choice for those wanting something different from the usual fare, with authentic flavors and a cozy setting. Highly recommended for fans of Eastern European cuisine.
Excellent food and very reasonable prices. Service was excellent. Did not have to wait for a table on a Sunday evening. Nice outside or inside seating areas. Perogi appetizer was yummy, Lamb and Rice Soup was excellent, and Beef Stroganoff was perfect! Highly recommended trying this restaurant.
Café Dacha is an absolute gem tucked away in the heart of the city, transporting you straight to a cozy Ukrainian countryside dacha the moment you step inside. The rustic wooden beams, embroidered textiles, and shelves lined with vintage samovars create an atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and effortlessly charming. Service is warm and genuinely hospitable—staff greet you like an old friend and happily guide you through the menu with stories behind each dish. Whether you’re sipping a perfectly balanced honey-pepper vodka infusion or lingering over a glass of house-made kompot, every detail feels thoughtful and authentic. The food is nothing short of spectacular: fluffy syrniki drizzled with sour cherry varenye that taste like they came from a babusia’s kitchen, tender chicken Kyiv that bursts with garlic-herb butter, and the richest, most soul-warming borscht I’ve ever had—deep beet-red, topped with a generous dollop of smetana and served with addictive garlic pampushky. Don’t even think about skipping the honey cake; its delicate, creamy layers melt in your mouth and somehow manage to be both light and decadent. Café Dacha isn’t just a meal—it’s a heartfelt, flavor-packed escape that leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your tea. Five stars, without hesitation.
We enjoyed every moment and every bite at this place. Everything was freshly made to perfection understanding Eastern European cuisine and with love and respect for those with a palate for it. The honey cake was superb and impossibly close to my mom’s. The only bad thing here was that I couldn’t eat and drink every item on the menu, though we did our best and almost rolled out of the restaurant with leftovers and a takeout for the next day. The place is easy, cute and cozy with very friendly people who took great care of us. We were in the area for a visit and are sad we can’t come here regularly. We’ll definitely be back our next time in town! Hope this place continues thriving 💙💛
Excellent cocktail and unique cuisine offerings make for a nice night with a delicate setting. My wife and I enjoyed our quick drink and light bite. We’ll be back again.
Amazing atmosphere and even better food! everything we ordered was top quality and fresh. our favorite was chicken pelmeni, calamari and chicken and lamb kebab! highly recommend!!!!
Great atmosphere, especially when the weather is great and you are sitting on the patio! The service was great and fast. The waitress was very attentive. The food was good. Some of the dishes were delicious (chicken kebab, salmon, beet salad), but some of the dishes were underwhelming. Even thought the potatoes were well charred, they were greasy and way too salty. The solenya were good, except for the tomatoes, which were from a jar. Overall an expected experience.
Good Russian food choices. Good service although just one waiter so at times it took some time but overall great experience.
This was my first visit here and all I can say is that it was extremely underwhelming... The service was ok, she was attentive, but her English wasn't very good and neither was her knowledge of the menu. She was friendly and so was the rest of the staff. my friend and I ordered a Negroninto start, they were very Campari heavy, when they should be 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 gin, Campari, and vermouth. Also, use a orange peel, not a whole slice of orange... This is Chicago, and we aren't dining at an old school, Wisconsin, supper club... To start, we had the Pierogi (with cabbage) and the Chebureki(meat pie). Both were ok, but had way too much dough and not enough filling. Both were extremely under seasoned. The Chebureki's dough really tasted like a pizza puff and was just as greasy. For our entrees, we split the Stuffed cabbage rolls, the Cornish hens, and the homemade pickles. They were good, not fantastic. The cabbage rolls were in a sauce that should have been way more acidic and sweet. It tasted like someone used a modified marinara sauce. The Cornish hens were properly cooked, but lacked flavor. The true stars were the pickled Roma tomatoes, cabbage, and pickles. The Pickled Roma tomato was incredible and wondered why I have never had one before. The desserts were just alright, we had the Napoleon cake and cherry pierogi's. They were just ok... To be honest, I don't think I will be back. It seems, outside of the pickles, they need to do some fine tuning all around, from service, bar and food before I think of returning.
